I HAVE HAD CONTINUAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2015. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR BECAUSE OF JEEP TO NOT STARTING IN THE MORNING. HOWEVER, APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS LATER, I AM ONCE AGAIN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MECHANICS CANNOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY ALL SAY IT IS PROBABLY RELATED TO THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR OR COMPUTER SYSTEM.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE ON MORNING WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY GARAGE. SO, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT I COULD GET A FREE DIAGNOSTIC TEST FROM ONE OF THE AUTO STORES. I WENT TO O'REILLY'S, WHICH IS A STORE THAT SELL AUTO SUPPLIES & PARTS, AND THEY DIAGNOSED A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE FUEL RELAY. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW DAYS TO DO THE REPAIR. I WOULD LIKE TO GO ON RECORD IN CASE THIS VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURED YEAR NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE CURRENT RECALL.
PREVIOUSLY ENTERED COMPLAINT REGARDING COLD THROTTLE/TURBO LAG OF 3-5 SECONDS WHICH IS DANGEROUS FOR PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS BUT THIS IS NOT LIMITED TO COLD VEHICLES. THE LAG IS SHORTER BUT EVIDENT WHEN WARM. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF HITTING THE LAG WHILE TRYING TO TURN IN AN INTERSECTION AND THERE IS A "FLAT SPOT" LAG OF 2 -3 SECONDS. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC CAN CAUSE A LAG THEN SURGE FORWARD. I HAVE ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD DIFFICULTY SWITCHING LANES BECAUSE I GET THE NOSE OF THE VEHICLE TURNED INTO ANOTHER LANE THEN IT DOES NOT MOVE CAUSING NEAR COLLUSIONS THEN SURGES FORWARD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I AM BEGINNING TO BE FRIGHTENED OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE FOR EVEN THE SHORTEST OF TIMES.
AT ABOUT 11AM, 11 SEPTEMBER 2019, MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4-WD LIMITED SHUT DOWN ON THE ROADWAY. TRAVEL SPEED PRIOR TO ENGINE FAILURE WAS ABOUT 20MPH. DURING THE BREAKDOWN, THE ECODIESEL, 3.0L ENGINE STALLED WHILE MAKING LOUD METALLIC-CHATTERING NOISE. AFTER THE KEY-LESS IGNITION WAS PRESSED TO OFF, A RE-START WAS ATTEMPTED BUT THAT FAILED. THE STARTER MOTOR REFUSED TO OPERATE WHEN RE-START WAS ATTEMPTED. BECAUSE RE-START FAILED, THE SHIFT REMAINED LOCKED INTO PARK. WITH THE VEHICLE LOCKED INTO PARK, IT BLOCKED THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY. INTERVENTION BY LOCAL POLICE PREVENTED FURTHER DAMAGE TO VEHICLE AND DRIVER. THERE WAS LITTLE WARNING OF PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. A LOUDER-THAN-USUAL DIESEL RUMBLE WAS REPORTED TO A JEEP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ON 18 JUNE 2019, BUT THIS SOUND WAS JUDGED 'NORMAL' BY THE TECHNICIAN WHO CHECKED THE COMPLAINT. THIS JEEP GC HAD ONLY 21,300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN THE ECODIESEL FAILED. ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE DURING 2015-TO-11 SEPT.19 WAS PERFORMED THROUGH AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALERS. A PARTIAL ANALYSIS, POST BREAKDOWN, BY JEEP SERVICE TECHS SHOWED 'BOTTOM-END ENGINE FAILURE' WITH 'ZERO COMPRESSION' MEASURED ON ONE CYLINDER. JEEP SERVICE PROMISED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO OPERATION.
WHILE STATIONARY, PASSENGER SIDE SEAT HEADREST DEPLOYED. NOTHING WAS DONE TO CAUSE THIS ACTION. NO ONE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. IT WILL NOT RESET. WHEN IT DEPLOYED, A PART BROKE WHICH IS KEEPING IT FROM RESETTING. AN ONLINE SEARCH REVEALS MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED.
WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES PER HOUR (ON A HIGHWAY), ON TWO OCCASIONS WORKING 24 HOURS, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL WITH NO MANIPULATION OF THE SHIFTER. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THE IMPENDING LOSS OF MECHANICAL POWER TO THE DRIVE WHEELS, AND I WAS FORCED TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. NO OTHER SYSTEMS (BRAKES OR POWER STEERING AS WELL AS OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS APPEARED TO BE AFFECTED. ONCE ON THE SHOULDER AND COMPLETELY STOPPED, I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO DRIVE, BUT WAS PROMPTED 'SHIFT NOT ALLOWED - VEHICLE SPEED TOO HIGH' DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE SPEEDOMETER READ 0 MPH. NEXT, I PUSHED THE START/STOP BUTTON AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT POWER DOWN, BUT DID ALLOW ME TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THE ERROR HAS NOT REPLICATED MORE THAN ONCE PER START UP SEQUENCE (IF IT HAPPENS ONCE WHILE DRIVING, PULL OVER AND RESTART, THE ERROR SEEMS TO NOT RECUR FOR THE DURATION THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP). OIL PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE AS WELL AS TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE WERE REPORTED AS WITHIN NORMAL OPERATING RANGES. I CHECKED THE VEHICLES OIL LEVEL WHICH WAS WITHIN THE 'SAFE' ZONE ON THE DIPSTICK. THE VEHICLE HAD OVER 1/2 A TANK OF GAS. THIS ISSUE IS NEW TO THE UNIT, WITH OVER 16 MONTHS OF OPERATING THE VEHICLE IT HAS ONLY OCCURRED WITHIN THE PAST 24 HOURS. THE ISSUE IS NOT PRECEDED BY ANY NOTIFICATION, AND NO MIL'S WERE ACTIVATED EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER THE FAILURE TO SHIFT. IT IS WORTH NOTING THE KEY FOB IS LOW ON BATTERY, BUT THE ISSUE OCCURS SOLELY IN MOTION. I WILL BE VISITING THE DEALER PRIOR FOR TROUBLESHOOTING PRIOR TO OPERATING THE VEHICLE AGAIN.
ONE DAY WHEN LEAVING A BARBERSHOP MY WIFE TRIED TO START OUR JEEP AND IT WOULD NOT CRANK. IT WOULD TURN OVER, START FOR A SECOND THEN TURN OFF. AFTER SITTING FOR A WHILE LONGER IT STARTED UP AND DROVE FINE. THIS PAST SUNDAY WE WERE LEAVING A GAS STATION TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE AND IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION IT SHUT OFF. ALL ACCELERATION STOPPED AND THE JEEP WENT INTO PARK AND LEFT US STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. ONCE WE USED THE MANUAL PARK RELEASE AND GOT OUT OF THE INTERSECTION WE LET IT SIT FOR A LITTLE BIT. MY WIFE GOT IN THE DRIVER SEAT AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. WE THEN DROVE IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSED AS THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH. I SPOKE WITH A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THAT IS 'NOT A PART LISTED' IN THEIR PARTS CATALOG. THIS VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND MY PREGNANT WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN T-BONED IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FRONTAL DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD REST AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HEADACHES, BUT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. *TR *JB
OUT OF NOWHERE, MY 2015 JEEP GC DECELERATED, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON AND THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES POPPED UP: AUTO PARK DISABLED, SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AND ENDED WITH SERVICE SHIFTER. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY CANNOT SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED THEMSELVES ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE HAZARDS.
ACTIVE HEADREST ON DRIVER'S SIDE DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR CAUSE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD, STARTLING ME AND CAUSING ME TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS ONCOMING DURING THAT TIME. PULLED OVER AND SURVEYED THAT THE SHELL OF THE HEADREST WAS DEPLOYED AND ALL PLASTIC PIECES HOLDING COVER TO SHELL WERE SNAPPED INSIDE. COULD NOT RESET INTO NORMAL POSITION.
THE SEAT BEST TENSIONERS ON BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS HAVE CRACKED. THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT TO KEEP DRIVER SECURE. THE VEHICLE HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THE REPAIRS FOR THIS ISSUE ARE NOT COVERED. THE REPAIRS WILL COST $750 IN PARTS IN ADDITION TO LABOR. FROM SEARCHING ONLINE I SEE MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEMS WAS INOPERABLE. UPON STOPPING AND RELEASING THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD ACCELERATING SUDDENLY TO 20 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN PLACE IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE AND RELEASING THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE LUNGES AS WELL. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON, AFTER LUNGING, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 30 TO 40 MPH AFTER THE INITIAL LUNGE. I HAVE HAD TWO INCIDENTS THAT HAVE DAMAGED MY CAR. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE OR REVERSE MAKING IT UNSAFE TO OPERATE.
WHILE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED HITTING MY WIFE IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD.
THE PASSENGER-SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON A STATE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. IT RANDOMLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT COLLISION, STRIKING THE BACK OF THE FRONT-SEAT PASSENGER'S HEAD.
SHIFTER SERVICE WARNING LIGHT. REQUIRES SHIFTER MODULE REPLACEMENT
THE VEHICLE HANGS IN PARK. IT WILL LET YOU MOVE THE SHIFTER BUT IT STAYS IN PARK. ON THE DASH IT SHOWS VEHICLE IN DESIRED GEAR. THERE IS A BOX IN THE REAR OF THE CONSOLE THAT YOU CAN OPEN AND USING A KEY PUSH IN A BAR AND SOMETIMES IT WILL COME OUT OF PARK AND LET YOU SHIFT TO REVERSE OR DRIVE. IT HAS HUNG 6-7 TIMES AND HAS COST ME $75 EACH TIME TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. EACH TIME THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND THEY DONT CHECK ANYTHING. THERE HAS TO .BE SOMETHING IN THE SHIFTER OR TRANSMISSION. I HAVE DRIVEN JEEPS SINCE 1993 AND THIS IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I'VE HAD. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE JEEP EXCEPT LOCALLY. I DONT KNOW IF IT RESETS OR WHATEVER WHEN THEY LOAD IT ON THE TOW TRUCK BUT THE MAN THAT DRIVES THE TRUCK SAW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS DOING. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND I WANT IT FIXED. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF MY PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE UNDERWENT AND UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR REGARDING THE EMISSIONS THAT INCLUDED A REFLASH OF THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. DUE TO THE REFLASH, THERE WAS A LAG IN ACCELERATION OF 4 TO 6 SECONDS, WHICH PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM SAFELY MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE REFLASH REPAIR WAS A SAFETY RISK FOR HIMSELF AND OTHERS. LARRY H. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
ON PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AT INTERSECTIONS, OCCASIONALLY THE TURBO DOES NOT KICK IN PROPERLY. NO POWER FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS WHILE ROLLING SLOWLY INTO TRAFFIC, THEN THE TURBO KICKS IN HARD ENOUGH TO SKID THE TIRES. HAS NEARLY GOTTEN US RUN OVER SEVERAL TIMES. STARTED AFTER THE SOFTWARE RECALL UPDATE, AND THEY HAVE NO FIX.
I HAD THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION COMPLETED ON MY ECODIESEL GRAND CHEROKEE. SINCE THESE WAS COMPLETED THERE IS A VERY NOTICEABLE LAG WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS. WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION THE LAG IS SO BAD (1-3 SECONDS) AND YOU FEEL AS IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MOVE. THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE SOME SORT OF ACCIDENT AS IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD
SINCE THE LAST RECALL FOR THE JEEP ECO DEISEL THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN RUNNING THE DEISEL EXHAUST REGENERATION AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK (8 TIMES IN 7 WEEKS SINCE THE RECALL UPDATE WAS PERFORMED). I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, THEY PERFORMED A MANUAL REGENERATION AND THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, IT STARTED IT AGAIN A WEEK LATER. THIS MEANS I HAVE TO DRIVE MY CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR AT LEAST 10-15 MINUTES TO GET IT TO SHUT OFF (EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY REGENERATE THE FILTER) AND MY ENGINE IS OVERWORKING AND LAGGING. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM THAT SINCE THE RECALL EVERYONE WITH THE JEEP ECO DIESELS IS COMPLAINING OF.
LESS THAN 50,000 MILES AND TOLD THAT THE STEERING RACK IS LEAKING AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2600. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM, WHY ISN'T THERE AN OFFICIAL RECALL ON THIS? THIS PART, WITH NORMAL COMMUTER DRIVING, SHOULD NOT FAIL AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE
SINCE DOING THE ECO DIESEL UPDATE JEEP HAS A SERIOUS LAG / STALL WHEN ACCELERATING AND WHEN GOING AROUND 20 MILES PER HOUR WHEN ACCELERATING. NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN CROSSING OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE HAS A LAG/ POWER DELAY ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE UNTIL THE ECO DIESEL UPDATE WAS DONE. ITS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP, PER THE SERVICE MANAGER THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THE JEEP AND TRUCKS DUE TO THE ECO DIESEL UPDATE, BUT THEY HAVE NO RESOLUTION.
THE POWER STEERING AND STEERING RACK FAILED ON THE CAR WHILE MERGING CAUSING A NEAR-FATAL ACCIDENT. FCA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE STEERING RACKS LEAK AND CAN FAIL BUT WON'T ISSUE AN OPEN RECALL BECAUSE NHTSA ISN'T FORCING THEM TOO.
ECODIESEL EMISSIONS RECALL. AFTER HAVING THE EMISSIONS RECALL DONE TO MY VEHICLE ON 8/20/19, THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY SLUGGISH AND NON RELIABLE. THE TURBO LAG IS HORRIBLE, SOMETIMES 1-3 SECONDS, SOMETIMES 4 OR 5. TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHERE IT WANTS TO BE AT TIMES. NONE OF THE ISSUES ARE CONSTANT AND THEREFORE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU PULL INTO TRAFFIC IF YOU WILL HAVE THE POWER NEEDED OR STALL AND GET HIT. SAFETY HAZARD IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT AND FAMILIES WILL BE HURT OVER THIS POOR ATTEMPT AT A "FIX". JEEP WAS EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE AND HAD MORE TORQUE READILY AVAILABLE PRIOR TO THE RECALL. NOW IT IS GUTLESS AND I WOULDN'T ATTEMPT TO HOOK THE BOAT UP TO IT.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND UNOCCUPIED IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN THE DRIVER SEAT'S ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT POPPED OPEN. IT CANNOT BE RESET DUE TO THE DAMAGED PLASTIC. THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE UNTIL TRIGGERED BY AN ACCIDENT AND IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW.
FOR VEHICLE WITH VIN NUMBER [XXX], AFTER A VO8 FLASH OF THE ECU DUE TO EMISSIONS RECALL SETTLEMENT THE CAR HAS SERIOUS "LAG" IN ACCELERATION FROM THE STOP POSITION. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE LAG CREATES A COLLISION RISK FROM ON-COMING TRAFFIC. CURRENTLY THE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THE SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT HAS CAUSED THE SAFETY HAZARD. A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSGAGE FLASHES ACROSS THE DASHBOARD SCREEN AND THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER DO NO LIGHT UP.
I WAS PARKED AND WHEN I WENT STARTED MY CAR THE AIR CONDITIONER AIR FELT HOT - I QUICKLY REALIZED THE AIR WAS BLOWING AND STAYI G HOT, NOT COOLING DOWN. MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ONLY HAS 39,400 MILES AND THE AIRCONDITIONER HAS GONE OUT. I CALLED MY REDLANDS CA DEALER, THEY SAID IT IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER THE BASIC 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. IT'S TOO SOON FOR A MAJOR COMPONENT LIKE AIR CONDITIONING TO GO OUT!
THE SINGLE PANE SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE PARKED. GLASS SHATTERED EVERYWHERE. THE SHADEGUARD WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME AND PREVENTED GLASS FROM GETTING TO THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED IN THE OVERNIGHT HOURS AND NOTHING WAS SEEN ON THE VIDEO CAMERA MONITORING THE CARS TO CAUSE THIS. NO OBJECTS WERE FOUND NEAR THE CAR OR INSIDE THE SUNROOF AREA. I HAVE CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND WAS DIRECTED TO A GLASS COMPANY WHO HAS TOLD ME THEY DO NOT FIX SUNROOFS AND THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY WILL CALL ME REGARDING MY CLAIM BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM. I AM EXPECTING TO PAY FOR THIS MYSELF. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS EXCESSIVELY HIGH OUTSIDE DURING THIS TIME BUT THIS WAS OVERNIGHT AND UNDER LARGE TREES WITH SHADING AND NOT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR AT LEAST 2 DAYS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT NOR HAD IT BEEN MOVED FROM THE LOCATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BACK-UP CAMERA WAS FAULTY. THE SCREEN REMAINED BLACK AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT SEE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE. ALSO, THE SIDE MIRRORS TURNED DOWN AUTOMATICALLY AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT SEE FROM ANY ANGLE WHILE REVERSING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,800. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE THE CAR HAS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE WE CAME OUT TO FIND THAT THE ACTIVE HEAD REST SAFETY DEVICE HAD DEPLOYED ON ITS OWN. LOOKS LIKE THE PLASTIC RETAINING PARTS FAILED AS THEIR IS BITS OF PLASTIC ON THE FLOOR. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT A SAFE DESIGN AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. OUR JEEP DEALERSHIP HAS LET US KNOW THAT THIS IN NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WILL BE OVER $700 TO FIX. WE WILL BE CONTACTING FCA CUSTOMER SERVICE AS IT ISNT RIGHT TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP BE ON THE HOOK FOR A FAULTY PRODUCT.
MOST OF THE TIME WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE UCONNECT INFOTAINMENT SCREEN DOES NOT BOOT UP OR DISPLAY ANYTHING (SCREEN STAYS BLACK) FOR UP TO 5 MINUTES. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE BACKUP CAMERA WILL NOT DISPLAY UNTIL THE THE UCONNECT SYSTEM HAS BOOTED UP. MANY OTHER FEATURE ARE ALSO UNAVAILABLE, BUT THE BACKUP CAMERA IS THE MAJOR CONCERN. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW.
EVER SINCE THE FCA ECODIESEL EXHAUST EMISSIONS UPDATE, MY VEHICLE HAS HAD TERRIBLE TURBO-LAG. WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR, ESPECIALLY AFTER A COLD START IT CAN TAKE UP TO 4 SECONDS TO ACTUALLY MOVE FORWARD. I ALREADY REPORTED THIS ONCE BEFORE, BUT THIS VEHICLE IS A SERIOUS HAZARD. TRYING TO CROSS ANY TYPE OF TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS. IT ALSO HAS ANYWHERE FROM 3-4MPG DROP SINCE THE UPDATE.
THE RADIO CONCEAL WILL RESET AFTER A FEW SHORT MINUTES AS IF THE VEHICLE IS BEING STARTED FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS NOTICED WAS AFTER IT WAS STATIONARY AND I RETURNED BACK TO MY VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BLINKER FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, BODY CONTROL MODULE, AND COMPUTER. THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF BAY RIDGE (8825 5TH AVE, BROOKLYN, NY 11209-5901) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONNECTOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
THE HEADREST IN MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I TRIED TO RESET IT BUT NOTICED THE CHEAP PLASTIC BRACKETS ARE BROKEN. THE VEHICLE HAS 39,000 MILES AND HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENT. I HAVE OWNED THE JEEP FOR 24 HOURS. WELCOME TO JEEP?
WHILE SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST JUST POPS OPEN. IT SEEMS THE CLIPS HAVE BROKEN. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND NOT COST $800.00 FOR SOMETHING THAT IS FAULTY.
AFTER THE FCA ECO DIESEL SETTLEMENT RECALL THE THROTTLE ON MY GRAND CHEROKEE DEISEL HAS SEVERE LAG UNTIL THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR SEVERAL MILES. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU LET THE CAR WARM UP OR NOT. IT IS SO BAD THAT YOU CANNOT TRUST IT TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC FOR FEAR THE THROTTLE WILL NOT ENGAGE EVEN WITH ADEQUATE SPACE FOR ENTERING TRAFFIC. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO ENTER TRAFFIC DUE TO THIS LAG.
JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DIESEL, AFTER V08 RECALL (DIESEL EXHAUST ISSUE), CAR NOW WILL LAG, AND FAIL TO ACCELERATE AT LOWER SPEEDS UNDER LOAD. ACTS AS IF IT WILL STALL. DANGEROUS IN THAT IT FAILS TO RESPOND TO ACCELERATION INPUT UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, USUALLY AROUND 20-25 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN THIS OCCURS, CAR MAKES TWO VERY SHORT AND FAINT BUZZING NOISES FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CAR DID NOT DO THIS PRIOR TO THE V08 DIESEL RECALL SOFTWARE FIX. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, CAR HAS BEEN TO SHOP SEVERAL TIMES, AND EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT AS BEING NORMAL.
SINCE I HAD THE EXHAUST EMISSIONS UPDATE DONE, MY JEEP HAS AN EXTREMELY LONG LAG IN ACCELERATION. IT TAKES A GOOD 2-3 SECONDS AFTER STEPPING ON THE THROTTLE, BEFORE THE CAR MOVES FORWARD. I WAS ALMOST HIT HEAD ON IN TRAFFIC ON A HIGHWAY BECAUSE OF THE TIMING OF NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY. THIS WAS NEVER AN ISSUE BEFORE THE EXHAUST UPDATE.
FACTORY WIRING HARNESS, AND ANY OTHER HARNESS FOR TOWING DOESN'T OPERATE UNLESS DEALER PROGRAMS TO COMPUTER..THE COST IS $135???. FACTORY INSTALLED TRAI.ER TOOK UP HARNESS SHOULD ALREADY BE ACTIVATED..NO OTHER MAKE OF VEHICLE REQUIRES THIS..WHY JEEPS..?? OR OUR DEALERSHIPS NOT INFORMING AND USING IT FOR A WAY TO MAKE MORE MONEY? PLEASE INVESTIGATE PROBLEM..OWNERS NEED TO BE INFORMED OF THIS BEFORE PURCHASING VEHICLES..THANK YOU.
MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL WHILE CRANKING THEM IT SHUT OFF AND STOP WORKING AFTER MY FUEL TANK WAS BELOW HALF A TANK IT LEFT ME STRANDED. I CHECK THE FUEL PUMP FUSE THERE WAS NO POWER GETTING TO THE FUEL THE METER TEST REVEALED NO POWER. THE I SAW THE RECALLS ON 2011, 2012,, 2013 JEEPS AND DOGES FOR TIPM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS THE FUEL PUMP IN SUCH A YOUNG VEHICLE. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR OTHERS HAD THEIR JEEP SHUT OFF OR STOP WORKING WHILE IN TRAFFIC.
AT A PATIENTS HOME. JEEP WAS PARKED, APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES WENT BY AND ONE OF THE PEOPLE IN THE HOME STARTED YELLING MY VEHICHLE WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS. THE DRIVEWAY IS FLAT SURFACE. IT MANAGED TO TAKE OUT A FENCE AND DAMAGE THE BACK END OF MY JEEP. LUCKILY ANOTHER PERSON IN THE HOME WAS ABLE TO RUN AMD JUMP IN IT BEFORE IT HIT TREES GOING DOWN A LARGE HILL.
ON 7/17/2019, I GOT INTO MY VEHICLE TO RUN ERRANDS TO NOTE THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST HAD EXPOSED WIRES AND WAS NOT IN ITS' NORMAL POSITION. I HAD NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT AND THERE WAS NO FORCE APPLIED TO THE HEADREST. I DID NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX IT AS I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT VEHICLES AND DIDN'T WANT TO CAUSE ANY FURTHER DAMAGE. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO LOOKED OVER AT IT FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND STATED THE ENTIRE THING WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. HE DIDN'T GO AROUND TO GET A CLOSER LOOK OR ANYTHING- HE JUST STATED TO ME THAT BECAUSE OF THE WIRING THE ENTIRE UNIT NEEDED REPLACING-- HE THEN WENT INSIDE AND TOLD BE IT WOULD BE $800 SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT ON THE PART TO COME IN. I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD NEED TO THINK ABOUT IT. I WENT HOME AND RESEARCHED THE ISSUE, STUMBLING ACROSS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS LIKE MINE. I WAS UNABLE TO REST THE HEADREST, ASSUMINGELY MY PLASTIC PIECES HAD BROKE OFF AS WELL. I CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TO SUM IT UP, I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD TO KEEP ALL OF MY RECEIPTS JUST IN CASE SOMETHING COMES UP LATER BUT SHE COULD NOT HELP ME ANY FURTHER. MY JEEP HAS ABOUT 81,000 AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED. IT IS VERY CONCERNING THAT THIS ISSUE IS OCCURRING SO MUCH AND JEEP IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT TO ENSURE THE SAFETY NOR THE SATISFACTION OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
I GOT INTO MY PARKED VEHICLE AFTER WORK, AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER HEADREST WAS PUSHED FORWARD, WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE WHEN I PARKED IT TO GO INTO WORK. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE PLASTIC BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE HEADREST IN APPEARED TO BE BROKEN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS I AM NOW WORRIED THAT THE DRIVER HEADREST WILL ALSO POP AND LEAD TO A COLLISION. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST REPORTED INCIDENCE OF THIS OCCURING, AND IT NEEDS TO BECOME A RECALL.
7/8/19 I BROUGHT MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN FOR THE VO8 EMISSIONS RECALL TWO DAYS LATER MY VEHICLE WAS RETURNED 7/10/19. 7/12/19 I WENT TO HAVE MY VEHICLE SMOG CHECK COMPLETED AND THE SMOG CHECK FAILED DUE TO THE FOLLOWING 'YOUR VEHICLE FAILED THE SMOG CHECK INSPECTION DUE TO THE FACT THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLES ON-BOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM HAS NOT COMPLETED THE EMISSION SYSTEM SELF-CHECKS.' DURING THAT TIME I HAD ALREADY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO RETURN MY VEHICLE TO CHECKED FOR POSSIBLE ISSUES CAUSED BY THE VO8 EMISSIONS RECALL. UPON MY DRIVE FROM SMOG TEST TO JEEP CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP (10.3) NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND AS I APPROACHED THE DEALERSHIP THE OIL TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID START TO RISE. ONCE PARKED I NOTICED OIL DRIPPING FROM THE PASSENGER FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE ATTENDANT PLUGGED IN THE ERROR CODE READER AND NO CODES/ERRORS WERE DETECTED AS IF OPERATING 100% AS INTENDED. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS EVIDENT THAT MY JEEP HAD CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. IT WAS DETERMINED MY ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE VO8 EMISSIONS RECALL AND I HAVE CO-WORK THAT EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE RESULTING IN THE ENGINE TO BE REPLACED TWO DAYS AFTER THE VO8 EMISSIONS RECALL WAS COMPLETED . THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE WAS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL 8/21/19 AND I MAY HAVE MY JEEP BACK 8/30/19. THE REPAIR WORK COMPLETED ON MY VEHICLE IS NOT FLUKE AND THE RECALL WORK BEING PERFORMED IS NOT SATISFACTORY AND POSSIBLY RUSHED TO MEET DEADLINES FOR COMPLIANCE. FCA US LLC , AS AN ORGANIZATION NEEDS TO LOOK AT THE RECALL PRACTICES HOLISTICALLY, THINK ABOUT THE PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILY BEING IMPACTED BY THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL SHORT COMINGS.

DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST AIRBAG DEPLOYED ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVER NOT IN VEHICLE AND NO IMPACT TO VEHICLE.
ACTIVE HEAD REST ON THE PASSENGERS SEAT HAS DEPLOYED. PLASTIC RETAINERS APPEAR BROKEN INSIDE THE HEADREST. THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD A COLLISION.
VEHICLE EXHIBITED WHAT FELT LIKE A HARD DOWNSHIFT FROM SECOND TO FIRST GEAR. JOLT WAS CONCERNING ENOUGH THAT DRIVER HAD TO APPLY ADDITIONAL BRAKE PRESSURE WHEN COMING TO A FULL STOP. TECHNICIAN AT REPAIR FACILITY DISCOVERED THAT JOLT FELT BY OPERATOR WAS ACTUALLY ENGINE MOVING SIGNIFICANTLY DUE TO DEFECTIVE HYDRAULIC ENGINE ISOLATORS (ENGINE MOUNTS MOPAR P/N 68252522AA). MOUNTS WERE REPLACED AND PROBLEM NO LONGER DETECTED. INTERNET RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE WK2 MODEL OF THE JEEP AND TYPICALLY OCCURS APPROXIMATELY FOUR (4) YEARS AFTER DATE OF MANUFACTURE. OPERATOR'S CONCERN IS THAT INADEQUATELY OR UNSECURED ENGINE SHIFT COULD CAUSE COLLISION OR LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. MANUFACTURER APPARENTLY DOES NOT FEEL THIS DEFECTIVE/UNRELIABLE COMPONENT DESIGN IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
