I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE MAIN ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND AFTER A MINUTE WHEN I WAS PULLING OFF THE ROAD THE AIRBAG ON MY SIDE DEPLOYED. THE COVER HIT MY ARMS AND IT CAUSED ME BRUISES AND BURNS. MY SISTER IN LAW GOT BRUISES ON HER STOMACH AND ON HER CHEST TOO. I DIDN'T KNOW THE CAUSE OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IT JUST HAPPENED. - (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT) TS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INTERNAL BRUISING TO THE CHEST AND A HEAD INJURY, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V046000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
MY ENGINE FAILED LIKE MOST PEOPLE WITH A 2002 ENGINE THAT I HAVE SPOKEN WITH. THIS WAS A BAD YEAR FOR THESE ENGINES SO I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WERE NOT RECALLED. EVERY MECHANIC KNOWS THESE ENGINES WOULD FAIL FOR NO REASON.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THE PASSENGER RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE KNEE AND FACE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000. IN A HIGH SPEED, SERIOUS, HEAD ON COLLISION, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED ON 1/11/2017. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WITH A BEGINNING SPEED OF 55 MPH. I SAW THAT A CRASH WAS IMMINENT AND SLOWED DOWN SOME PRIOR TO IMPACT....UPDATED 02/07/17 *BF - (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT) TS *CN
THE ENGINE OF THIS VEHICLE DIED WITHOUT WARNING. IT'S COMPUTER NEVER PICKED IT UP, OR GAVE ME A WARNING THAT ANYTHING WAS GOING BAD. IT WAS NOT MAKING ANY BAD SOUNDS OR LOOSE SOUNDS OF ANYTHING. THE VEHICLE SIMPLY DIED IN ME WHEN I ACCELERATED GOING UP A HILL, IMAGINE THE HORROR THAT WAS HAVING VEHICLE ALSO ACCELERATING BEHIND ME. I'VE BEEN HEARING THE SAME COMPLAINTS FROM THOUSANDS OF JEEP LIBERTY USERS AND THIS IS DANGEROUS. A YEAR AGO WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING FOR SEVERAL MILES, THE ENGINE WIRE HARNESS FROM STARTER TO BATTERY CAUGHT FIRE. THE HARNESS WAS DESTROYED. A REPLACEMENT FROM A SALVAGE YARD WENT ABOUT 100' AND IT ALSO CAUGHT FIRE DESTROYING ITSELF. ANOTHER HARNESS WAS INSTALLED AND A YEAR LATER THE SAME FIRE ON THE SAME HARNESS OCCURRED YESTERDAY. *TR

AFTER HAVING SERVICE DONE TO THE FUEL TANK UNDER A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE, I NOW GET ERROR CODE 0544, LARGE EXHAUST GAS LEAK, . I HAD SERVICE DONE TO THE HOSES, AND TWO WERE FOUND DAMAGED NEAR THE TANK, , I REPLACED THE FUEL CAP, AND FINALLY REPLACED THE COMPUTER. BUT THE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON. I HAVE NOT FOUND A SATISFACTORY ANSWER, BUT IT MUST BE RELATED TO WORK DONE BY THE JEEP DEALER. *TR
TAMARA RECALL: DON JACKSON CONTINUES TO GIVE ME THE RUB AROUND WITH REPLACING THE AIRBAG. WHEN FIRST CONTACTED LAST YEAR, I WAS TOLD I WAS ON A LIST. NUMEROUS FOLLOW UPS RESULTED IN BEING TOLD THE PART WAS NOT IN, NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND EVENTUALLY I'M NO LONGER ON THE LIST BECAUSE A LIST, IN FACT, DID NOT EXIST. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO SECURE A N APPOINTMENT WHERE I WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART. THREE WEEKS LATER THEY ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE PART AND I NEED TO CALL BACK IN A FEW DAYS TO SEE IF IT CAME IN. I'M WONDERING IF DON JACKSON IS WAITING FOR ME TO PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR OR DIE IN THIS ONE. AT THE END OF THE DAY I'M STILL WAITING TO GET MY AIRBAGS FIXED..
I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TWO WEEKS AGO TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR TWO RECALLS AT MICK'S CHRYSLER JEEP. I DROPPED MY JEEP OFF THIS MORNING FOR THE APPOINTMENT. I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOT EVEN AN HOUR LATER. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I ASKED HOW THAT WAS POSSIBLE SINCE I MADE THE APPOINTMENT TWO WEEKS AGO. THE GUY DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER. SO NOW I HAVE TO PICK UP VEHICLE, STILL NEEDING REPAIRS DUE TO 2 RECALLS (LOWER BALL JOINTS AND THE AIRBAG ORC).
PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. WHEN I START VEHICLE AIRBAG WARNING COMES ON ALONG WITH WARNING CHIME. IF I TURN VEHICLE OFF AND IMMEDIATELY RESTART IT LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON.

AIRBAG LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON AND OFF! AFTER I WENT TO THE DEALER FOR AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL, WHICH IS FREE REPAIR, BUT AFTER THE REPAIR, THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS OFF/ON THE DEALER SAID THAT I HAVE TO PAY $199 TO FIX THE DIAG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 7 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE BALL JOINT FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
ON A DRIVE HOME FROM MY MOTHER'S HOUSE, I HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD WHEN I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND. THEN MY SEAT BELT TIGHTENED ON ITS OWN AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. FORTUNATELY I WAS UNINJURED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A SLIGHT BURN ON MY FOREARM.
ON 10/1/16 I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY TO PARK MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, CRASHING THROUGH MY GARAGE DOOR. WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE HAND BRAKE APPLIED THE JEEP WOULD NOT STOP. IT SMASHED INTO MY WIFE'S CAR PARKED IN THE GARAGE, SLAMMING IT INTO THE GARAGE REFRIGERATOR. WITH BRAKES STILL APPLIED I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL TO SHUT OFF ENGINE WHEN IT SLAMMED INTO REVERSE AND AT GREAT SPEED CAREENED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND DOWN THE STREET. AT NO TIME DID I FEEL I HAD CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. IT FINALLY STOPPED WHEN IT HIT SHRUBBERY AND SMALL BOULDERS. WHEN I START MY JEEP WHEN ENGINE COLD,THE RPM'S ARE HIGH AS THOUGH I PUSHED DOEN ON ACCELERATOR. ON 6-13-15 WHILE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WAITING FOR THE GREEN LIGHT (FOOT ON BRAKE)THE JEEP SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND SMASHED THE CAR IN FRONT OF US, CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE INSURANCE CO HAS TOTALED MY WIFE'S CAR, WE HAVE A DAMAGED REFRIGERATOR, WE NEED A NEW GARAGE DOOR AND HAVE A JEEP LIBERTY THAT WE ARE NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE. I HAVE READ MANY, MANY IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE REGARDING 2002-2008 JEEP LIBERTY-I COULD HAVE WRITTEN THEIR STORIES-AND I HAVE LITTLE FAITH THAT I WILL EVER DRIVE MY JEEP AGAIN. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS AND INJURIES BEFORE CHRYSLER ADMITS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM? DIDN'T READ ABOUT ANY DEATHS SO I GUESS THERE'S YOUR ANSWER.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WENT OFF. APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS LATER MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG ALSO WENT OFF. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MILES AN HOUR DOWN A CITY STREET, GOING STRAIGHT, AND THERE WERE NO BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO A PARKING LOT AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. I HAD PREVIOUSLY TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN LAKELAND FLORIDA WHERE I LIVED UNTIL RECENTLY ATTEMPTING TO HAVE THE RECALL FIXED AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE PARTS AND COULDN'T GET THEM. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME IF THEY BECAME AVAILABLE. THEY NEVER CALLED AND NOW I HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, FOLLOWED ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER BY MY DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 35 MPH ON A CITY STREET AT A STEADY SPEED AND HIT NO BUMPS. I WAS ABLE TO PULL MY VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I CONTACTED JEEP TO GET THEM TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE AND THEY STARTED A CASE (#30180485) ON SEPT 24, 2016. I DID NOT HEAR FROM JEEP AGAIN UNTIL 10/24/2016 WHEN WE RECEIVED A LETTER INFORMING US THAT THIS WAS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. SINCE THE RECALL R06 STATES THAT THE AIRBAG COULD DEPLOY IF NOT FIXED, AND I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE THIS RECALL DONE AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS RECALL BUT WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN ONE BECAME AVAILABLE. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED AGAIN BY JEEP LETTING ME KNOW THE REPAIR WAS AVAILABLE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE VEHICLE. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR THIS AS A WARRANTY REPAIR, BUT IT SHOULD BE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY BASED ON THE FAILURE TO FIX THE RECALL WHEN I TOOK IT TO THEM. ALSO, SINCE THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IT DID DAMAGE TO THE DASH AND STEERING WHEEL OF THE JEEP WHICH WILL NEED REPAIRS ALSO. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS EXPENSE, AND WHY JEEP IS FAILING TO HANDLE THIS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V046000 (AIR BAGS) AT WOODSTOCK GARAGE 601 N MAIN ST, WOODSTOCK, VA 22664 BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AS THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED ILLUMINATING AFTER THE REMEDY REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONLY THE AIR BAG MODULE WAS REPLACED AND NOT THE FRONT SENSORS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO WOODSTOCK GARAGE FOR AN AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DIAGNOSIS/REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT VEHICLE FAILED STATE INSPECTION AND WAS INFORMED TO HAVE THE FRONT IMPACT SENSORS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARLOW MOTOR COMPANY LOCATED AT 707 N COMMERCE AVE, FRONT ROYAL, VA 22630 (540) 635-4158 WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC FEES AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FRONT IMPACT SENSORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE AS THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY SERVICED UNDER A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 136,000.
WELL WHERE DO I START. SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2016 I HAVE REPLACE MULTIPLE PARTS ,BUT THEY WEREN'T PART OF ANY RECALLS. BUT NOW MY CONCERN REVIEWING RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND TRYING TO ADDRESS THESE NUMEROUS DEFECTS . I'M ALMOST FED UP. MY MAIN COVER IS THE J17 RECALL FOR THE UPPER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT OF WHICH A CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE ADVIDEO MY MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF ,WHICH I CLUELESS ON HOW AS THE RECALL DOESN'T SPECIFY OTHER THAN 2002 TO 2003 LIBERTY VWHILES . NOW I SHOW THAT THEY WERE REPLACED IN THE PAST AND NOW THEY SINCE ARE WORN IN THE SAME DESCRIPTION THEY WERE RECALLED IN . AND CHRYSLER DENIES RESPONSIBILITY (?) .. ALSO OTHER CONCERNS WITH THE CATYLIC CONVERTER CAUSING A SULFUR SMELL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GOING UP HILL ASO WELL AS TOWING . ONE MORE THING IS NUMEROUS ONLINE FORUM ABOUT THE ENGINE TICKING BEING NORMAL AND UNFIXABLE OTHER THEN TO REPLACE THE ENGINE . NOW ALL THIS PLUS THE MULTIPLE PARTS I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED A VEHICLE LESS THEN 15 YEARS ON THE MARKET NEEDED A IN OTHER WORDS FULLY RESTORATION IS UNACCEPTABLE. ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE STOCK 1948 JEEP THAT NEED LESS REPAIRS THAN THIS .

THE AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON AND OFF ON A REGULAR BASES AFTER STSRTING THE CAR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, N46/NHTSA 13V-252. THIS INVOLVED THE FUEL TANK WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FIRE AFTER A REAR END COLLISION. THE FIX WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A TRAILER HITCH WOULD BE INSTALLED TO PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR THE REAR MOUNTED FUEL TANK. ALSO, I WAS SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE A $100 VISA CARD FOR MY TIME AND TROUBLE IN GETTING THIS DONE. AFTER I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, JOHN HIRSCH IN CAMBRIDGE MN, THEY DECLINED TO INSTALL THE TRAILER HITCH, CITING SOME RUST UNDER THE CAR PREVENTED THEM FROM DOING SO. THE JEEP IS A 14 YEAR OLD MINNESOTA CAR AND MOST WILL HAVE SOME RUST ON THE UNDERBODY. IF THEY DIDN'T INTEND TO HELP ALOT OF THE OLDER CAR OWNERS, I FEEL MY TIME WAS WASTED AND I STILL HAVE A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. IS THIS CHRYSLER'S WAY OF SAVING DOLLARS ON THE RECALLS?
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE HAS SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATED TO A VERY HIGH SPEED EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE STANDING ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET. THE BACK WHEELS ARE SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL, BURNING RUBBER, AND YOU HAVE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES (ALL ON CITY STREETS). WE HAVE HAD TWO DIFFERENT MODULES REPLACED (DON'T REMEMBER WHAT THEY WERE CALLED) AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.
