THE REAR TRAIL ARM RUSTED THROUGH AND FRACTURED MAKING THE JEEP NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK.
JEEP LIBERTY 2004. THE WINDOW REGULATOR OF THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW HAS NOW BROKEN THREE TIMES IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS. I HAVE USED THAT WINDOW LESS THAN TEN TIMES DURING THE OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE. THE WINDOW REGULATOR WILL SIMPLY BREAK WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL. THIS IS A DANGER TO THE UNSUSPECTING DRIVER AND ANY POTENTIAL PASSENGERS; NOT TO MENTION IF THIS OCCURRED IN THE COLD OF WINTER. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT WITH THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF OTHER INDIVIDUALS. THE CAR CANNOT BE PROPERLY SECURED AS THE WINDOW WILL NOT STAY IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION AND WILL OPEN COMPLETELY ON ITS OWN. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS YOU CANNOT HAVE A CHILD IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. ON JUNE 7, 2011 THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER REPLACING WINDOW REGULATORS. THAT COST $300 TO REPAIR. THEN, ON JUNE 27, 2011 THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. IT IS IN THE REPAIR SHOP AND IT WILL COST ANOTHER $300 TO BE REPAIRED. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR IS ALSO ABOUT TO BREAK. WHEN I PUT THE WINDOW DOWN THE WHOLE INSIDE DOOR PANEL EXPANDS AND THE REPAIR SHOP SAID IT'S ABOUT TO BREAK. I THINK ITS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD IF MY WINDOWS JUST FALL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M DRIVING AND HAVE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND WEATHER CONDITIONS. ALSO, WHEN THE WINDOW FALLS INSIDE THE DOOR IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHICH IS A DISTRACTION FROM THE DRIVER. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BECAUSE MY REPAIR GUY SAID THAT THESE REGULATORS HAVE TO BE REPLACED QUITE OFTEN AT $300 A POP!!! I AM NOT A SATISFIED CUSTOMER WHAT SO EVER. *TR
THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR NEEDS REPLACEMENT AS IT IS DEFECTIVE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY NOR THE DEALERSHIP WILL COVER THIS VERY COMMON DEFECT WHICH WILL COST ME $450. *TR

2004 JEEP LIBERTY ~ THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AND THE WINDOWS DROPPED. WINDOW HAD TO BE TAPED TO THE DOOR FRAME UNTIL WE COULD GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. JEEP IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT FAILS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
LOSS OF CONTROL OF 2004 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED DUE TO FAILURE OF LOWER TRAILING ARM. LOWER TRAILING ARM SNAPPED DUE TO CORROSION ACCORDING TO REPAIR SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT ABOUT 30MPH ON RURAL BACK ROAD ON STRAIGHT SECTION. JEEP VEERED BACK AND FORTH WILDLY UNTIL WAS ABLE TO STOP. BOTH REAR LOWER TRAILING ARMS WERE REPLACED, THE BROKEN ONE AND THE OTHER ONE WHICH WAS ALSO BADLY CORRODED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED. THE CONTACT STATED THE NUMBER FIVE VALVE IN THE ENGINE FAILED AND MISFIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE COIL WIRES, SPARK PLUGS, FUEL INJECTOR, AN EJECTION PULSE TEST AND THE HEAD GASKET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND IT WAS STILL SHAKING AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE BEYOND A 10 MILE RADIUS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTIES AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A MOMENTARY INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AS THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE DRIVER THOUGHT THAT SHE HAD A FLAT TIRE, BUT CONTINUED TO DRIVE. THE DRIVER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THAT COMPONENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE REAR DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW BEGAN TO OPEN OF ITS OWN ACCORD. TRYING TO STOP THE WINDOW FROM LOWERING FURTHER USING THE CONTROL BUTTON ON THE CONSOLE DID NOTHING BUT MAKE A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE INSIDE THE DOOR. WITHIN FIVE MILES OF DRIVING, THE WINDOW GLASS HAD DISAPPEARED INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. THE FIRST TIME WAS A YEAR AGO, MID-APRIL 2010, ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS YEAR IT HAPPENED TO THE SAME WINDOW AGAIN, MID-APRIL 2011, WHICH MEANS THE REPLACEMENT PARTS FAILED, TOO. THE WIND IN THE CAR WAS AWFUL, NOT TO MENTION THE COLD! IT CERTAINLY MADE FOR A NOISY, FREEZING, AND UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION, I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO CLOSE UP MY CAR, SINCE THE WINDOW GLASS HAD DISAPPEARED INTO THE DOOR. I WAS VERY AFRAID SOMEONE WOULD STEAL MY CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH WINDOWS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE REGULATOR LIFT PLATES FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT REGULATOR LIFT PLATE, BUT THE REAR WINDOW WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
2004 JEEP LIBERTY SECOND REPLACEMENT OF A REAR WINDOW REGULATOR/MOTOR
2004 JEEP LIBERTY COLUMBIA 4X4 3.7 ENGINE. THE KEY WILL NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION TO START THE CAR. SAW NO STEERING COLUMN CHOICE ON THE COMPONENTS LIST SO I CHOSE OTHER. I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE ARE 100'S IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING NOTICING I HAD LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A BLOWN TIRE OR ALIGNMENT ISSUE. I GOT OUT TO CHECK AFTER DRIVING AWHILE ON A 30 MPH ROAD. I NOTICED THE REAR CONTROL ARM ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS RUSTED AND BROKEN APART. I THEN HAD NO REAR CONTROL OF VEHICLE. *TR
2004 JEEP LIBERTY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE BALL JOINTS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT, SINCE A RECALL WAS ISSUED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD POPPING NOISE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE. AS THE CONTACT ACCELERATED TO 20 MPH, SHE REALIZED SHE HAD LITTLE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND CONFIRMED THAT THE REAR CONTROL ARM WAS RUSTED AND FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARM WAS ALSO RUSTED AND COULD FRACTURE AT ANY TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 06/24/11 *BF UPDATED 1/18/2012 *LN *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH IN SNOW AND ICY WEATHER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLIDE AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DROVE OVER AN EMBANKMENT AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT LEG, KNEE, LEFT SHOULDER AND RIGHT BREAST. A PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND STOMACH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS MODERATELY DAMAGED. ON FEBRUARY 21ST 2012 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AND WENT DOWN A STEEP DITCH AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. MY VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. NOW I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL, SAYING A CONTROL ARM COULD BREAK AND CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND CAUSE A CRASH. *TR
THE CAR DID NOT FEEL RIGHT WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME ONE EVENING AND THE WHOLE BACK END JUMPED TO THE RIGHT WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS OR TRAFFIC PASSED MY CAR. I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND AS I TURNED A CORNER THE WHOLE BACK END JUST SLID AND THE VEHICLE WAS HARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF. I HAD TO DRIVE 10 MPH ON CITY STREETS TO GET HOME AND THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, IT WANTED TO KEEP SLIDING TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. I FOUND, ON GETTING HOME, THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD ROTTED OUT AND FAILED. IT LOOKED AS THOUGH IT HAD BEEN IN SALT WATER FOR 25 YEARS. IF I HAD BEEN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS WHEN IT FAILED THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND VERY LIKELY A FATAL ACCIDENT TO ME. I HAVE SEEN 20 YEAR OLD CARS THAT DO NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF ROT ON CRITICAL PARTS LIKE THIS AND FEEL THERE IS NO WAY THIS SHOULD OF HAPPENED ON A 7 YEAR OLD CAR. I HAVE SPOKEN TO CHRYSLER AND THEY WILL NOT HELP ME ON THE REPAIR AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT THE REAL CONCERN IS TO THE PRE-MATURE FAILURE OF THIS CRITICAL PART. I HAVE KEPT THE PART THEY REMOVED IF ANYONE WOULD CARE TO INSPECT IT. I HOPE THIS MAY HELP OTHER OWNERS INSPECT THIS PART AND PREVENT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. NORMAL USE OF THE VEHICLE. NORMAL USE OF THE POWER WINDOWS. NO BUMPS, ACCIDENTS, ROUGH DRIVING, INCLEMENT CONDITIONS, ROUGH TERRAIN, UNUSUAL EXTERNAL FORCE APPLIED OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD CONSTITUTE REPLACING THE THIRD POWER WINDOW REGULATOR IN APPROXIMATELY 2.5 YEARS. I'VE FORTUNATELY ONLY HAD TO REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE'S WINDOW REGULATORS. BOTH THE FRONT AND THE REAR HAVE GONE OUT, THE REAR TWICE IN THE PAST 2.5 YEARS. JEEP HAS APPARENTLY ONLY ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE PART NUMBER REVISION OF THE PART 6 TIMES SINCE 2004. IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL AND TO HAVE ALL THE REGULATORS REPLACE BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WITH A PART THAT CAN BE GUARANTEED FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. I DON'T WANT MONEY SINCE THIS HASN'T CAUSE AND PERSONAL OR PROPERTY DAMAGE BUT I WOULD NOT LIKE TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS EVERY 6-9 MONTHS TO REPLACE A PART THAT TECHNICALLY SHOULD LAST 5 TIMES AS LONG AS IT DOES. *TR
MY SPOUSE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE LEFT WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR OF OUR 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. ON FURTHER RESEARCH I BECAME SURPRISED TO FIND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE COSTS FOR REPAIR ARE NUTS AND UNWARRANTED BECAUSE OF POOR DESIGN BY CHRYSLER. HOW IS IT THAT THE ONES TO PAY FOR ALL THE MISTAKES CREATED BY MANUFACTURES ENDS UP BEING THE CONSUMER. WE HAVE DONE ENOUGH FOR THE BIG CORPORATIONS IT IS TIME TO DO SOMETHING FOR THE PEOPLE. I'M GOING TO RECOMMEND TO ALL THAT I KNOW NOT TO PURCHASE CHRYSLER PRODUCTS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY I LOST POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP WITHOUT INCIDENT. MY STEERING RACK AND A POWER STEERING PRESSURE LINE STARTED LEAKING A LOT OF FLUID RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A FAMILIAR PROBLEM TO CHRYSLER/JEEP BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND A RECALL SHOULD BE CONSIDERED. *LN
I WAS DRIVING UP TO KIDS SCHOOL TO PARK AND PARKED AND TRIED TO TAKE THE SEAT BELT OFF AND IT WAS STUCK. THE RED RELEASE BUTTON WAS STUCK DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT RELEASED, BUT THE RED RELEASE BUTTON WAS STILL STUCK DOWN. I TRIED TO RE-BUCKLE AND NOTHING WORKED. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP "NAPLETONS" AND THEY SAID THAT THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. I AM STILL WAITING.
I ROLLED DOWN MY PASSENGER WINDOW AND WHEN I WENT TO ROLL IT BACK UP IT WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP. IT JUST KEPT SLIDING DOWN. I HAD TO BUY A SUCTION CUP TO KEEP IT UP UNTIL I COULD GET THE PART TO FIX IT. SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED TO MY REAR PASSENGER AND REAR DRIVER WINDOWS ALSO. *TR
I HAVE HAD REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH MY 2004 LIBERTY POWER STEERING. IT APPEARS THAT IN VERY COLD CONDITIONS THE FLUID LEAKS, MAYBE A SHRINKING GASKET OR SEAL? A SEEPING POWER STEERING LINE? THE LEAK IS AT THE FITTING WHERE IT GOES INTO THE PUMP. IT APPEARS THAT THE PRESSURE FROM THE PUMP IS OVERPOWERING THE O-RING IN THIS FITTING. UNFORTUNATELY THE LEAK WENT UNNOTICED UNTIL THE SYSTEM WENT DRY. *LN
VEHICLE STARTED MAKING CRUNCHING NOISES WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS (DIPS, SPEED BUMPS/HUMPS, RAILROAD TRACKS) ISSUE WASN'T CONSTANT, TENDED TO HAPPEN IN THE EARLY MORNINGS OR LATE NIGHTS WHEN THE WEATHER WAS COLDER. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A COUPLE OF MECHANICS WITH NO FINDINGS. OVER TIME (02/01/2011) THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A 'WHINING' NOISE WHEN I MAKE SHARP RIGHT HAND TURNS, AGAIN NOT EVERY SHARP RIGHT HAND TURN RECREATES THE NOISE. I SUSPECTED POWER STEERING AND OR BUSHINGS COULD BE AN ISSUE. TODAY, 04/19/2011, VEHICLE IS IN SHOP FOR NEW TIRES AND AN OIL CHANGE AND AN INVESTIGATION INTO MY COMPLAINTS/SUSPICIONS. IT'S BEEN DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS A LEAK IN MY POWER STEERING PRESSURE LINE AND ISSUES WITH MY RACK AND PINION. ON A SIDE NOTE, IT'S ALSO TIME TO REPLACE MY STRUTS AND SHOCKS, HOWEVER THIS IS NOT PART OF THE ISSUE I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING, ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC. IT WAS ALSO BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT RACK AND PINION ISSUES AS WELL AS POWER STEERING PRESSURE LINE LEAKAGE ISSUES ARE VERY COMMON WITH THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL. FUNNILY ENOUGH, AFTER LOTS OF RESEARCH AND MANY PHONE CALLS TO SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS, THE PS PRESSURE LINE ISSUE CAN BE FIXED BUT WILL MOST LIKELY REOCCUR DUE TO THE HOSE NOT BEING ABLE TO HANDLE THE CONSTANT WORKING PRESSURE OF 3000 PSI. IT SEEMS I WILL NOW BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER PART FOR MY JEEP THAT IS BEING FABRICATED BY AN INNOVATIVE INDIVIDUAL THAT CAN DO THE JOB THAT JEEP CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT. (YOUR WINDOW REGULATORS NEED TO BE RE-ENGINEERED AS WELL)
I AM A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY OWNER. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, I ATTEMPTED TO LOWER MY PASSENGER WINDOW ON A CLEAR SUNNY DAY. MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW MADE A LOUD POP AND THEN MY WINDOW FELL DOWN. IT WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. I FINALLY PULLED OVER AND TUGGED IT UP IN TO POSITION AND GOT IT TO CLOSE. IT NOW WILL NOT RAISE OR CLOSE PROPERLY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY TELL ME IT IS THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAS FAILED. THIS SUDDEN COLLAPSE OF THE WINDOW CAUSED ME TO LOOK IMMEDIATELY RIGHT TO SEE WHAT I THOUGHT WAS SOMETHING HITTING MY VEHICLE. THEN THE SURPRISE OF MY WINDOW DROPPING WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO MAKE A SUDDEN DRIVING ERROR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AS IT SCARED ME WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT WAS A VERY LOUD POP SOUND ! I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE ABOUT $500.00 TO FIX. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ON THE WEB, I SEE I AM ONE OF THOUSANDS WITH DEFECTIVE WINDOWS THAT DROP FOR NO REASON IN THESE DOORS OF THE JEEP LIBERTY. SOME 6-7 TIMES. WE AS CONSUMERS DESERVE BETTER FROM CHRYSLER. IF YOU CHECK THE SERVICE RECORDS FOR THIS PROBLEM IT SHOULD STAND OUT LIKE A SORE THUMB. WE DESPERATELY NEED A RECALL OF FOR THIS PART OF THE VEHICLE THAT THE DEALERSHIPS ARE WILLING TO REPLACE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ONES BUT ONCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRES THEN WE ARE ON OUR OWN. THE PROBLEM IS IN THE DESIGN ITSELF. THE WINDOW REGULATOR IS CAUSING PROBLEMS THAT ARE A SAFETY CONCERN AND HAZARD. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NO HELP. MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY HAS AN EMERGENCY BRAKE THAT DOES NOT HOLD. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I TOOK IT IN AND HAD COMPLETE NEW BRAKES, INCL ROTORS, CALIPERS, NEW BRAKES AND NEW EMERGENCY INSTALLED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR RIGHT CONTROL ARM WAS ABOUT TO ALSO BREAK DUE TO RUST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BROKEN CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 76,000.

MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR REGULATOR. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT RECALL THE DEFECTIVE PART. THE GLASS ON THE DOOR WILL SLIDE DOWN, AND THE WINDOW WILL NOT OPERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE REPAIR COST IS APPROX $500 EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT KEEPS HAPPENING TO THE WINDOWS THAT I HAVE EVEN GOTTEN REPAIRED ALREADY. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THE REGULATOR IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND IT MELTS DUE TO THE HEAT AND THAT'S WHAT CAUSES THE REGULATOR TO MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I'VE NOW REPLACED TWO WINDOW REGULATORS...WELL, NOT EXACTLY THE WHOLE THING. AFTER DOING MY RESEARCH I FOUND A PERSON THAT FABRICATES THE VINYL PLASTIC PIECE THAT IS ALWAYS UNDER STRAIN THAT LITERALLY SUPPORTS THE WINDOW OUT OF .... METAL! (GENIUS). I'VE PURCHASED ONE FOR ALL THE WINDOWS AND AM INSTALLING THEM AS NEEDED. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD THINK THAT LITTLE PIECE OF PLASTIC IS GOING TO WITHSTAND THE TEST OF TIME? THIS WAS A VERY VERY POOR ENGINEERING SOLUTION. A SOFT MATERIAL LIKE THAT SHOULD NOT BE PUT UNDER CONSTANT STRAIN OF PULL AND WEIGHT. THIS IS TRULY A FAUX PAS ON CHRYSLERS' BEHALF. IT'S LIKE THE PART WAS DEPLOYED TO ENSURE CONSTANT INCOME DUE TO REPAIR! I'VE READ HUNDREDS AND GLANCED AT THOUSANDS OF ISSUES REGARDING THIS DESIGN AND PART.
