BRAKES LOCKUP WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY
TAKATA RECALL LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE BALL JOINT. ENHANCED CORROSION, 150K MILES CAR WAS IN REVERSE AT A GAS STATION AND THE CAR SHIFTED DOWNWARDS NO WARNING.
TURNING WITH NOISE ON THE FREEWAY AND STREET. CLICKING WHEN PUSHING BRAKES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH DOWN ON AN INCLINE, WHEN SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE INTO A WALL. THE AIR BAG DID DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED 2 BROKEN RIBS, COLLAR BONE, RIGHT HAND AND NECK INJURIES. ALL INJURIES REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. BROKEN RIGHT REAR CONTROL ARM. ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT,ALSO BROKE UNIVERSAL JOINT. NOW THAT I FIXED THOSE ISSUES , STEERING ON THE FRONT NOW IS GOING OUT
I DROVE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR ON A STEEP MOUNTAIN ROAD. SOMETIMES USING THE OVERDRIVE TO GO UP STEEP GRADES. THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. I MADE IT TO TOWN AND WAS ON THE MAIN ROAD STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. SUDDENLY, THE RPMS RACED AND THE JEEP ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, BUT HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK TO STOP IT, BUT NOT BEFORE IT HIT THEN TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS SHAKEN UP AND CHECKED THE FLOOR MAT TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. IT WAS NOT.
ALL BUT ONE OF MY WINDOWS WILL ROLL UP OR DOWN BECAUSE OF THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THERE ARE RECALLS ON OTHER YEARS BUT NOT 2004 DUE TO MANY COMPLIMENTS.THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS AND FIX THE ISSUE. THANK YOU.
AS THE DRIVER WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO THE CLOSEST LEFT TURNING LANE AND ACCELERATED AT APPROXIMATELY 15MPH, THE VEHICLE FISHTAILED AND SWERVED AS THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE. THERE WERE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE TURN HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND CONTINUED TO SWERVE. THE DRIVER HAD NO CONTROL OF THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE, ALMOST AS IF SOMETHING HAD COME UNDONE. THERE WAS A COLLISION WITH A TREE AND A STREET SIGN DUE TO GREAT AMOUNTS OF SWERVING THAT RESULTED IN THE CAR RUNNING OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
WHILE DRIVING, THE GEAR SHIFT SLIPS OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT THE CLUTCH BEING USED. THIS IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND AT 155,000 MILES, THIS IS LOW MILEAGE IN MY CONSIDERATION FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MYSELF OR ANY OTHER CARS AROUND.

BALL JOINTS ARE WORN DOWN, IF THEY SLIP CONTROL WILL BE LOST OF THE CAR. BALL JOINTS ARE UNUSUALLY WORN DOWN FOR MY CAR WITH SUCH LITTLE MILES OUT ONTO IT.
MY STEERING WHEEL IS HARD TO TURN MAKES A LOUD NOISE SHEATHED MY CAR IS WARMED UP OR NOT IT HAS POWER STEERING
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. RUNNING ROUGH NOT IDLING CORRECTLY. THERE IS NO POWER ON ACCELERATION, VIBRATES AND SMOKES. I TOOK IT TO TIRES PLUS 1ST TIME, COST ME $800 FOR DIAGNOSIS, COMPRESSION TESTS AND REPAIRS THEY SAY NEEDED TO BE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ABOUT A MONTH LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. TOOK JEEP BACK AND WAS TOLD THIS TIME THAT THE VALUE(S) ARE NOT SEATING. TOLD TO TAKE IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER DUE TO A SAFETY ISSUE. I RESEARCHED ON WEBSITES AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR 2004 - 2011 JEEP LIBERTY AS WELL AS DODGES. WHY HAVE THEY NOT ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS? THE ROCKER ARMS ARE POPPING OUT AND CAUSING HAVOC IN THE ENGINE. DEALER SAYS NO RECALL. CHRYSLER YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WHY NOT FIX IT!! THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!!
AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK THE CAR STARTS FINE BUT THEN THE ENGINE STALLS MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE FIRST 3-5 MILES. THIS IS HAZARDOUS SINCE IT OFTEN HAPPENS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC LEAVING THE GAS STATION. IT SEEMS TO GO AWAY AND THE CAR RUNS FINE AFTER SEVERAL MILES OF DRIVING AND STALLING AS I SLOW DOWN FOR STOP LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. I RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS JEEP AND THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER FILLUPS. I JUST GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND IT IS A COMMON ISSUE. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GOOD TO ADD MY INFORMATION TO THE LIST. I HAVE DONE NOTHING TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM AT THIS POINT.

JEEP TIPM FAULTY, DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, ROUGH IDLE, NO POWER ON ACCELERATION, VIBRATES, BURNS GAS, SMOKES.. HAD A COMPRESSION TEST DONE AND AT THE 3RD CYLINDER HAS A COMPRESSION OF 65.. DID SOME RESEARCH ON THIS AFTER WASTING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS AND IT NEEDS NEW VALVES AND ROCKER ARM. UPON DOING RESEARCH I FOUND PUT THAT JEEPS FROM THE YEAR 2001 ON UP TO 2012 ARE KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM! WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED? THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE NOT TO MENTION VERY COSTLY!!
I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AFTER MY CAR DEMONSTRATED ISSUES RELATED TO A RECALL. THEY NEVER FOLLOW UP. THEY JUST KEEP SAYING THEY WILL REACH OUT AND THENDON'T. I LOST CONTROL OF THE BACK END WHEN I MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN.
HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALLS AND WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER THEY SAID I DIDNT HAVE ANY RECALLS BUT WHEN I CHECK IN THE DATE BASE IT SAID I HAD TWO RECALLS; I WOULD LIKE TO GET NOTIFIED OF THE RECALLS BY A DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE TO 70 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WOULD ROLL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

WHEN I WENT IN FOR A RECALL ON 08/03/2018 FOR MY VEHICLES LOWER CONTROL ARMS I WAS INFORMED THAT MY UPPER AND LOWER PASSENGER BALL JOINTS WERE VERY LOOSE AND CORRODED. MY LOWER BALL JOINTS HAVE APPARENTLY BEEN REPLACED BEFORE IN A RECALL IN 2006. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP MY VEHICLE SEEMED FINE UNTIL I TOOK A RIGHT TURN AND HEARD LOOSE PARTS BUMPING AROUND ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. I HAVE GOTTEN ANOTHER MECHANICS OPINION ON THIS AND THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS ARE LOOSE/ BROKEN EVEN AFTER THIS RECALL WAS PERFORMED TO MY VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. **TR CONSUMER STATED I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL AT ONCE THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND HIT A GUARDRAIL, IT WAS NO LIGHT THAT CAME ON OR ANYTHING. I GOT SOME BRUSIES AND PASSENGER BACK INJURIES BUT ONE DIDN'T GO TO THE ER. CONSUMER TOOK THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE JEEP INSPECTED IT WAS NOT THE SUSPENSION. FROM JULY TO NOW THE PARTS HAVE NOT BEEN ORDER AND I DON'T NEED THEM NOW BECAUSE THE JEEP IS NOT FIXABLE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. UPDATED 10/26/18*JB *TT*JB

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE PAT CLEMONS DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO RETRIEVE THE PARTS. THE CONTACT FELT THAT HE HAD BEEN LIED TO AND GIVEN THE RUN AROUND BY THE PAT CLEMONS DEALER WHILE DRIVING WITH AN OUTSTANDING RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

MANUFACTURERS RECALL: MY VEHICLE MAKES A SERIOUS VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND A LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHEN I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD. IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT TERRIBLY AND WEARS OOT MY TIRES CONSTANTLY. IT FISH TALES WHEN I ACCELERATE THE GAS PETAL AND ALSO WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS. IT WALKS THE ROAD. AND FEELS UNSTABLE WHEN U REACH 60MPH. IT FEELS VERY UNSAFE AND DOES IT'S OWN THING WHEN WE ARE DRIVING . IT JUST GOES ALL OVER THE ROAD .THE RESULTS ARE THE SAME WHETHER IT'S BEING DRIVEN IN THE CITY OR HIGHWAY. MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY IS NEEDING NEW BALL JOINTS PLACED ALONG WITH THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS. I DID SEE WHERE A RECALL WAS PLACED FOR MOST 2002-2006 MODELS. IS THIS VALID AND POSSIBLY COVERED ON MY VEHICLE? VEHICLE NOT DRIVING PROPERLY AND HAS BEEN CHECKED BY MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE STATES THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS ARE IN VERY BAD CONDITION.

THE DEALER (PIEDMONT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM AEV, 4015 CLEMSON BLVD, ANDERSON, SC 29621, (864) 332-4848) INDICATED THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY CAMPAIGN WAS EXPIRED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD TO TEMPORARILY WEDGE EACH OF THE FOUR WINDOWS TO ENSURE THAT THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT GO DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO INDICATED THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY CAMPAIGN EXPIRED AND THERE WAS NO RECALL TO PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO HAVE A DEALER REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 178,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED THE WINDOWS WERE FALLING DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. REPAIRS WERE MADE BY THE LOCAL SERVICE DEALER. *JB
DRIVING UNDER 10 MPH LIGHTLY APPLIED BREAKS VEHICLE WENT INTO A SPIN. THIS HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES NOW OVER THE LAST THREE WEEKS. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO AVOID ACCIDENTS EACH TIME. FIRST TWO OCCURRENCES WERE EXPERIENCED BY MY DAUGHTER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A TEST DRIVE TO DETERMINE CAUSE/ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUSLY DEFECTIVE WHEN BREAKING A LOW SPEEDS. I RAN THE VEHICLE UP TO 10 MPH I APPLIED THE BREAKS IN A CONTROLLED AREA WHILE GOING ~10 MPH ON A STRAIGHT AWAY. WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A TERRIBLE SPIN DOING A 360 3 TIMES. FELT AS VEHICLE WAS GOING TO TIP. WHEN THIS OCCURRED TO MY DAUGHTER SHE REPORTED THAT ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE LIFTED OFF THE GROUND.
TWO ISSUES AS FOLLOWS; 1) THE LOWER FRONT BALL JOINTS HAD DETERIORATED AND MAKE A LOUD POPPING AND CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. OUR MECHANIC SAYS THE LOWER FRONT BALL JOINTS HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED, CREATING A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. 2) THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON, DOES NOT TURN OFF.
THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY LATCH. ALSO, THE SEAT BELT COMES UNLATCHED WHILE DRIVING WITH THE BUTTON UNTOUCHED. AS AN EXAMPLE, THE SEAT BELT UNLATCHES WITHOUT TOUCHING THE RED BUTTON ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 70 MPH.
A PREVIOUS OWNER HAS TAKEN A DRILL TO THE ODOMETER TO PUT OUT THE LIGHTS. WITHOUT FIXING THE DASH, A BUYER CANNOT SEE THE MILEAGE. WHEN CHECKED ON CARFAX, THIS VEHICLE HAS OVER 200,000 MILES AND WAS SOLD WITHOUT DISCLOSING THAT INFORMATION.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE REPAIRS WERE NOT PERFORMED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RETURN PHONE CALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SWAYED FROM SIDE TO SIDE, CAUSING THE FRONT END TO RICOCHET. THE CONTACT COULD NOT CONTROL THE STEERING. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE (L27, N46, AND D16) OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR WHEEL DETACHED, WHICH AFFECTED THE STEERING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE BUYBACK PROGRAM AND THEY WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE. LIGHTS FLICKER WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT . TEMPORARY LOSS OF SIGHT OF THE ROAD . MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE . I SEE MULITPLE COMPLAINTS WITH NO FIXES , AND NO RECALL. ONLINE SHOWS DIFFERENT MODELS OTHER THAN JEEP LIBERTY WITH THE SAME ISSUE . I AM NOT SURE WHY THEY ARE NOT TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY . SOMEONE COULD DIE GET SERIOUSLY INJURED, ALSO YOU COULD RUN OVER SOMEONE OR ANIMAL WHEN THE BLINDNESS OCCURS IT HAS LAST SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON . TRY TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH COMPLETE BLINDNESS VERY SCARY . THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE AT NIGHT . THE TIME INTERVALS BETWEEN THE FLICKERING VARIES. IF NOTHING IS DONE WHICH I HOPE IS NOT THE CASE IT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED IN CASE I HAVE AN ACCIDENT DIE OR KILL SOMEONE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A BIG CLUNK AND THEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO GO BACK AND FORTH ON THE ROAD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. UPON INSPECTION THE PASSENGER REAR CONTROL ARM FRACTURED. IT WAS VERY CORRODED AS WAS THE DRIVERS SIDE.IT WAS JUST IN FOR AN ALIGNMENT.WHY WAS MY STATE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL,WE USE SALT TOO.
ALL DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING
WE OWN A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY THAT WAS PURCHASED NEW IN VIRGINIA AND RESOLD TO OUR FAMILY IN 2013, IN VIRGINIA. ON 22 JUNE 2017, MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING OUR JEEP ON MOUNTAIN ROADS ABOUT 50 MILES FROM OUR HOME WHEN SHE NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS "SWERVING" AND MAKING A NOISE. SHE MANAGED TO SAFELY MOVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANE AND CONTACT ME. UPON MY ARRIVAL AND INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAD COMPLETELY BROKEN AND ALLOWED THE REAR END TO SHIFT POSITION, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TRACK FAR OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND CAUSING THE REAR TIRE TO RUB ON THE FENDER WALL. I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE RUST APPEARED TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE CONTROL ARMS FAILURE. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE HOME AND RESEARCHING PARTS TO REPLACE THE BROKEN CONTROL ARM, I DISCOVERED THAT PART HAD BEEN RECALLED ON 2004 JEEP LIBERTYS WHICH SURPRISED ME BECAUSE I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED BY A JEEP DEALER TO ENSURE ALL RECALLS HAD BEEN COMPLETED. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, HOWEVER, I LEARNED THE RECALL ONLY EFFECTED THOSE LIBERTYS IN THE NORTH EAST AND UPPER MIDWEST WHERE SALT IS FREQUENTLY USED ON SNOWY ROADS (HTTPS://WWW.AUTOTRADER.COM/CAR-RECALL/JEEP-ADDS-137000-LIBERTY-SUVS-TO-RECALL-171108). WHILE THIS EXPLAINS WHY THE DEALERSHIP HADN'T REPAIRED THE ITEM, IT CERTAINLY DIDN'T EXPLAIN WHY WE WEREN'T NOTIFIED THAT THE PART IS PRONE TO SUCH FAILURES, CONSIDERING VIRGINIA DOES RECEIVE A FAIR SHARE OF SNOW AND A HUGE PORTION OF THE VIRGINIA POPULATION COMMUTES INTO WASHINGTON D.C. (WHICH WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL) IT SEEMS EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT TO ALLOW OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE THEM WITHOUT AT LEAST A NOTIFICATION EVEN IF JEEP DOESN'T HAVE TO REPLACE THE ITEM.
