TAKATA RECALL THE DRIVERS SIDE BALL JOINT SHEARED OFF BECAUSE IT CANT BE GREASED .. THE WHEEL FELL OFF IN A PARKING LOT .. THE PASSENGERS SIDE IS DOING THE SAME SHEARING OFF .. IT MADE A WHINING NOISE ON THE DRIVERS AIDE AND IS NOT MAKING A NOISE ON PASSENGER SIDE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE CONTACT COLLIDED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 275,000.
AT INTERSTATE SPEED THE JEEP ACCELERATES UNEXPECTEDLY AS IF THE THROTTLE IS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. ACCELERATES TO 80 MILES PER HOUR ALMOST INSTANTLY.
I PURCHASED MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY IN 2009 WITH 16K MILES ON IT. IN 2010 I HAD TO HAVE THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED AT $200. IN 2011 THE BACK DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW HAD THE SAME ISSUE, BUT NOW THE REPAIR WAS QUOTED AT BEING AT LEAST $400. IN LATE 2016 THE BACK PASSENGER WINDOW DID THE SAME THING. THIS WEEK MARCH 2017 THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WINDOW HAS DONE THE SAME THING AND NO LONGER STAYS UP. ALL OF THESE HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING EITHER ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY WHILE MOVING.
WAS GOING DOWN A HILL. DIDN'T NOTICE A STOP SIGN. TRIED TO STOP BUT COULDN'T IN TIME. TOOK THE CORNER AND HIT A TREE WITH MY PASSENGER FRONT CORNER AND THE JEEP FLIPPED ON ITS SIDE. SMASHED MY FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL SHATTERING MY JAW DUE TO AIRBAGS NOT GOING OFF AND SEATBELTS NOT LOCKING. NEEDED IMMEDIATE SURGERY. THEY HAD TO SMASH THE FRONT WINDOW TO GET ME OUT OF THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY WERE INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED A RECALL REPAIR REGARDING THE LOWER CONTROL ARM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

"TAKATA RECALL" PULLS HARD TO RIGHT AND LEFT STEERING IS LOOSE HARD TO KEEP ON ROAD BAD BALL JOINTS AND STEERING RACK ALL HAVING TO DO WITH STEERING.
SUSPENSION AND REAR CONTROL ARMS CORRODED AND CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHAKE
MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE LAST NIGHT, FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM SOURCE OF FIRE. I RESEARCHED JEEP LIBERTY 2004 RECALLS AND FOUND ON JUNE 12,2012 THE OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATION (ODI) OF THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA) OPENED (EA) 12-005 TO INVESTIGATE AN ALLEGED SAFETY RELATED DEFECTS CONCERNING FUEL TANK SYSTEM INTEGRITY FOR JEEP MY 1993-2007 FOR , WHICH INCLUDED NUMEROUS FIRE. ON 1/16/2017 MY JEEP LIBERTY CAUGHT ON FIRE, IN THE SNOW. CAR WAS STATIONARY, HAD ONLY DRIVEN 2 BLOCKS, GOT STUCK IN THE SNOW, REVVED UP THE ENGINE AND SMOKE BEGAN COMING OUT THE HOOD. CAR COMPLETELY COMBUSTED IN FLAMES,
TWO CONCERNS - THE FIRST BEING SAFETY RELATED. THERE IS METAL GRINDING NOISE WHEN BRAKING. ALL SPEEDS - SLOW OR FAST, AND IN ALL "DRIVES", TWO WHEEL OR FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. NO MECHANICS I HAVE VISITED HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE IT. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OTHER JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE SPOKEN IN PERSON WITH SEVERAL AND READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THE SAME THING. SECONDLY, THREE OF MY WINDOWS HAVE NOW FAILED TO OPERATE. ALSO A WIDESPREAD JEEP LIBERTY ISSUE WITH A PIECE IN THE LIFTING MECHANISM. THE MOTORS ARE OPERATING JUST FINE, BUT THERE IS A PIECE INSIDE THE DOOR THAT BREAKS AND THE WINDOWS FAIL TO OPEN OR CLOSE THEREAFTER. SOMETIMES, A LIFTING MECHANISM SPRING-LOOKING PIECE GRINDS UPWARDS INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE "BROKEN" WINDOW MECHANISMS ARE ACCIDENTALLY ACTIVATED. ALSO CONCERNED THESE SPRING MECHANISMS COULD SNAP IN THE CABIN AND CAUSE EXTREME HARM.
WHILE DRIVING, IT WOULD FEEL AS IF THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WAS GOING SIDE TO SIDE. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE CAR WOULD FEEL AS IF IT WAS TORQUING IN ONE DIRECTION AND THEN WHEN I WOULD BRAKE IT WOULD FEEL AS IF IT WOULD PULL THE OTHER DIRECTION. I HAD NOTICED THIS FEELING FOR A WHILE BUT IT WAS WORSE ON WET OR SNOWY ROADS AND ALSO WHILE GOING AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED (OVER 50 MPH). I WAS UNABLE TO DETECT WHAT EXACTLY WAS HAPPENING BECAUSE IT HAD DEVELOPED SO GRADUALLY AND I REGULARLY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. I THOUGHT WHEN I WAS DRIVING IT WAS EITHER WINDY OR THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SLIDING DUE TO WET ROADS. THIS CAUSED AN ISSUE WHEN DRIVING IN THE WINTER AND CAUSED ME TO HIT A GUARDRAIL. I WAS DRIVING MY DAUGHTER BACK TO COLLEGE. WHILE ACCELERATING, THE CAR LUNGED TO THE LEFT, I THEN THOUGHT I WAS SLIDING AND PROCEEDED TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN WHICH THEN CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO PULL TO THE RIGHT, SLAMMING THE VEHICLE INTO THE GUARDRAIL. ABOUT 8 MONTHS AFTER THE ACCIDENT, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN HE NOTICED THIS PULLING AND WAS ABLE TO DESCRIBE IT. I TOOK IT IN AND BOTH REAR CONTROL ARMS HAD TO BE REPLACED.

WAS DRIVING AND MY LOWER STABILIZER BAR BROKE INTO FROM RUST AND MADE ME REARED SHIFT CAUSING ME TO ALMOST FLIP.
VEHICLE FIRE IN PARKING GARAGE. ENGINE AREA OF CAR UNEXPECTEDLY CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO A SHORT CIRCUIT ARC AND FAILURE OF EQUIPMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL CLUNKING NOISE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND VEERED INTO ANOTHER LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARM CORRODED AND FRACTURED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM WOULD SOON FAIL AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V085000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.

THAT SAME DAY I INFORMED MY MECHANIC AVIA COME TO MY HOUSE, TOLD MY SUV HAS A WATER LEAK AND BURNED IN THE MUFFLER, WHEN MY CHECK MECHANIC TELLS ME IS NOT WATER IS OIL, AGAIN I CONTACT THE SELLER AND I SENT HIM A TEXT MESSAGE AND DOES NOT ANSWER ME, MY MECHANIC INFORMS ME, THE TRADER CAN NOT SELL TIRE TRUCK WITH BAD QUALITY, MY SUV THE TIRE ARE WORN, NOT REALLY SAP THAT INFORMATION. REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM ON DRIVERS SIDE BROKE WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY #81 OUTSIDE OF COLUMBUS, NE. TOTAL STEERING CONTROL WAS LOST NEARLY CAUSING A PROBABLE SEVERE ACCIDENT. MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP CHECKED AND FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS, (RECALL # L27120613-010) CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE NEBRASKA. DOES NOT THE LIVES AND WELLFARE OF US HERE IN NEBRASK DESERVE THE SAME PROTECTIONS AS DO OTHER STATES?
GOES IN REVERSE BUT WHEN PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE GOES A FOOT AND THE BREAKS COME ON BY THEMSELVES. LOCKS UP AND CANT MOVE. DOES THIS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND ON THE ROAD, NOT DRIVABLE. I ALMOST GOT KILLED WHEN THE BREAKS LOCKED UP AND A VEHICLE BEHIND ME HAD TO AVOID HITTING ME. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE DOES GET KILLED. THERE ARE NO PICTURES TO UPLOAD YOU CANT SEE INSIDE THE BREAK SYSTEM OR WHAT EVER IT IS THAT IS CAUSING THIS HORRIBLE WAITING TO BE FATAL ACCIDENT.
ALL WINDOW MOTORS HAVE A PROBLEM AND 3 HAVE GONE OUT ...
I WAS APPROACHING THE ONRAMP,& AS I TURNED ON I HEARD A NOISE. THINKING I HAD A FLAT I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF TO CHECK MY TIRES UPON ROUNDING THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE I SAW LIQUID ON THE GROUND UPON BACKING UP A STEP I COULD SEE IT WAS MY GAS TANK WITH THE BROKEN BRACKETS. I THANK GOD THERE WERE NO SPARKS & THAT I WAS NOT YET @ SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. I WAS TERRIFIED AS TO HOW CLOSE TO DEATH I POSSIBLY WAS. THEN I FIND OUT HERE THAT IT HAD HAPPENED 1 OTHER TIME (THAT'S REPORTED HERE) BUT NOT TO THE MANUFACTURER. NOW I'M OUT OF MY VEHICLE WHILE BEING REPAIRED AND OUT OF WORK TILL IT'S FIXED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V085000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

I HAVE HAD THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS REPLACED TWICE ON MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. I WAS DRIVING BOTH TIMED IT HAS HAPPENED COSTING ME TOW AND REPAIR COSTS. I FEEL I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THE DANGEROUS SAFETY RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I AM NOW AFTER LEANING THAT IT ALSO HSSV12 RECALLS AND SAFETY ISSUES INCLUDING THE GAS TANK AND SUSPENSION AND STABILITY OF MY VEHICLE AM AFRAID TO EVEN DRIVE IT OUT IF CONCERN FOR MINE AND OTHERS SAFETY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE EMERGING FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR SIMILAR TO AN ENGINE RUNNING. THE CONTACT ARRIVED AT HER HOUSE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WAS DOWN. THE WINDOW MOTOR WOULD NOT BRING THE WINDOW BACK UP. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR LAST YEAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY IN AN ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM FAILURE CAUSED THE TIRE TO BECOME INOPERABLE. LEFT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY BROKE INTO FROM RUST CORROSION WITH DRIVING ON HIGHWAY CAUSING VEHICLE TO BECOME HIGHLY UNSTABLE AND NEARLY UNCONTROLLABLE. UPON INSPECTION OF VEHICLE IT WAS APPARENT THAT RIGHT SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM AS WELL AS THE UPPER REAR CONTROL ARM ARE HIGHLY CORRODED. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE. UPON INVESTIGATION THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS IN CERTAIN STATES BUT NORTH CAROLINA IS NOT INCLUDED.

UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS RESTING LOW ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ON MY 2004 JEEP LIBERTY I HAVE HAD THE LOWER FRONT BALL JOINTS REPLACE A FEW YEARS BACK BY THE F23 RECALL. THIS WEEK AS I WAS REPLACING UPPER CONTROL ARMS, WHICH COME PRE ASSEMBLED WITH THE BALL JOINT, I NOTICED THE BOOTS FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE AGAIN DAMAGED. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE IS A LOUD NOISE WHEN GOING OVER UNSMOOTH SURFACE ROADS, ETC. I AM THINKING THIS COULD BE CAUSED BY THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM. NOW I'M NOT A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC, BUT COMMON SENSE TELLS ME THAT THE ENGINEERING ON THE SUSPENSION HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, WHO TOLD ME TO CONTACT A DEALER, WHO TOLD ME THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME ON THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE WINDOW REGULATOR PROBLEMS, ALONG WITH RECALLS ON THE AIR BAGS SYSTEM AS WELL AS GAS TANK PROTECTION RECALLS.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, THE PASSENGER HEATED SEAT CAUGHT FIRE. THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ALREADY HAS A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 09V117000. I CONTACTED JEEP IN AN EFFORT TO GET THEM TO EXPAND THEIR RECALL AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. PLEASE, ASSIST ME IN INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM AND HAVING THE COMPANY FIX THIS PROBLEM. I'M GUESSING THE GRAND CHEROKEE, WHICH IS MORE LUXURIOUS, HAS MANY MORE VEHICLES WITH HEATED SEATS THAN THE LIBERTY THUS MORE COMPLAINTS. OWNER OF VEHICLE OPENED DOOR AND LEANED INSIDE TO START VEHICLE. HE INSERTED KEY AND TURNED THE IGNITION TO THE "START" POSITION. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED. OWNER WAS INJURED. NO OTHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS DID NOT DEPLOY.

HAD VEHICLE TOWED AND CHECKED BY DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP. FOUND THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKEN. FOUND RECALL ON NHTSA WEBSITE FOR 04-05 JEEP LIBERTIES FOR SAID PROBLEM. HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE WAS SOLD OUT OF OLATHE KS TO A KC MISSOURI RESIDENT AND THE KANSAS DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF RECALL BECAUSE KS WAS NOT ON THE LIST MO WAS. MANY MO RESIDENTS IN KANSAS CITY MO BUY PRODUCTS IN KANSAS CITY KS THEREFORE A COMPLETE OVERSIGHT BY CHRYSLER JEEP HAS CREATED WHAT I THINK IS A SERIOUS CONCERN.
WE HAVE HAD THE LOWER BALL JOINTS FRONT REPLACED, THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS REPLACED AND NOW THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS ARE CORRODED AND SHOWING STRESS CRACKS. IN READING THE OTHER INCIDENTS IT APPEARS THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT ABLE TO BE CONTROLLED WHEN THE CONTROL ARMS FRACTURE COMPLETELY. NO RECALL ON THIS YET BUT THERE SHOULD BE AS THE REAR LOWER AND UPPER CONTROL ARMS ARE BOTH AFFECTED BY THE SALT AND INCLEMENT WEATHER IN MINNESOTA. THIS IS A HAZARD AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO BE A SAFE VEHICLE. THE WHOLE REAR SUSPENSION SOUNDS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO DISENGAGE FROM THE VEHICLE. 113,000 MILEAGE. OUR MECHANIC HAS REPEATEDLY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS AT THE COST OF $1200.00.
SOMETHING LOOSE AND SMOKING UNDER MY SUV, TOLD HAS TO DO WITH FRONT END SUSPENSION , THE 2 FRONT TIRES SHAKES ,DRIVING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS, SPEED BUMPS ETC. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK MY ENGINE JUST QUIT AS I WAS SHIFTING FROM 4TH TO 5TH GEAR. I COASTED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN I LIFTED THE HOOD, THERE WERE FLAMES SHOOTING UP FROM EVERYWHERE! THE BIGGEST FLAMES WERE NEAR THE SIDE OF THE BATTERY, BUT NOT ON THE BATTERY SO I SHUT THE HOOD AND MOVED AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. WITHIN THE 5 MINUTES IT TOOK THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ARRIVE, IT WAS COMPLETELY BURNED UP, INCLUDING THE FRONT PANEL INSIDE THE JEEP. ANY PART OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE THAT WAS NOT METAL, WAS GONE... BURNT!! AS OF THIS TIME, IT IS STILL UNKNOWN TO ME WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE BUT CHRYSLER SENT AN INVESTIGATOR OUT TO VIEW THE VEHICLE AND SENT ME A LETTER STATING THEY WOULD NOT BE DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I BELIEVE IT WAS A WIRING PROBLEM AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANYONE WORK ON ANY OF THE WIRING SINCE I PURCHASED THE JEEP IN 2010. I HAVE NO INVOICES TO SHOW REPAIRS( AS VEHICLE IS TOTALED BEYOND REPAIR), INSURANCE( IT DID NOT COVER A NON COLLISION FIRE) OR ETC... JUST PICTURES AND A FIRE REPORT, IF YOU WANT THOSE.

THE WINDOW REGULATOR CLIP HAS BROKEN ON THE REAR WINDOWS AT LEAST SIX TIMES. THERE IS A PLASTIC CLIP THAT EVIDENTLY GETS BRITTLE AND BREAKS. THIS CLIP SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE OF A STRONGER MATERIAL. THIS KEEPS HAPPENING ON WINDOWS THAT WE NEVER EVEN USE. SO, IT IS NOT FROM WEAR AND TEAR. JEEP COVERED THE COST SIX TIMES, BUT WILL NOT COVER IT AGAIN. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX.
