WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL MOVES BETWEEN THE 1 AND 2' O CLOCK DIRECTION THE ESP/BAS LIGHT COMES ON AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE PARKED AND IN MOTION AT LOW SPEEDS. I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND IT WAS REPORTED TO BE A FAULTY STEERING SENSOR/CLOCKSPRING. WHICH CONTROLS THE ESP/BAS PROGRAM AS WELL AS THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG SHOULD THERE BE AN IMPACT. I TOOK MY JEEP IN EARLY FEBRUARY AND THE PART WAS PLACED ON BACK ORDER BECAUSE THERE WAS NONE AVAILABLE IN THE NATIONWIDE INVENTORY WAS EXPECTED AT THE EARLIEST, MID-MAY. THE RECOMMENDATION IS NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I FOLLOWED UP IN EARLY MAY AND THAT DATE WAS SHIFTED TO AUGUST. I FOLLOWED UP IN THIS PAST WEEK AND THE DATE HAS BEEN SHIFTED YET AGAIN TO MID-SEPTEMBER. GOING ON 7 PLUS MONTHS WITHOUT MY VEHICLE DUE TO ONE PART THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SEEMINGLY A COMMON ONE LOOKING AT THE OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED ON THIS SITE IS RIDICULOUS. I HAVE TRIED GETTING THIS PART THROUGH OTHER AFTER MARKET PLACES ONLINE AND IT CAN ONLY COME THROUGH JEEP/MOPAR PART AUTHORIZED SUPPLIER. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT OR RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED TO ESCALATED TO GIVE THIS PROBLEM MORE VISIBILITY IN ORDE FOR IT TO BE CORRECTED. *TR
I PUT MY CAR INTO 4WD FOR A MINUTE AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TOOK IT COMPLETELY OUT OF 4WD. IT STAYED STUCK IN 4WD AND AFTER BURNING UP MY ENGINE IT BROKE MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AXLE AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY $800 FOR REPAIRS. I HAVE NEVER USED MY 4WD AND WE ARE STUCK IN A SNOWSTORM IN THE MOUNTAIN CLOSE TO PORTLAND, OREGON AND I CANT GET ANYWHERE. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE NOTICE MONTHS AGO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE A REASONABLE TIMEFRAME FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIRS. HAD RECALL NOTICE FOR INSTALLING A TRAILER HITCH. TOOK TO MIDWAY JEEP IN KEARNEY NE. ON FEBRUARY 3 2014 AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD TO ORDER A HITCH. AS OF TODAY MAY 5,2014, I STILL DON'T HAVE A HITCH INSTALLED.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AGO THAT THE FUEL TANK COULD LEAK DURING CERTAIN TYPES OF REAR END COLLISIONS. I WAS NOTIFIED THAT CHRYSLER WOULD INSTALL A REAR TRAILER HITCH TO MANAGE CRASH FORCES IN LOW-SPEED IMPACTS. THE RECALL STATED THAT THIS INSPECTION AND INSTALL WOULD OCCUR WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE INSPECTION OR FOLLOW UP LETTER. *TR
I TRIED TO MAKE A U TURN ROAD WAS NARROW SO I HAD TO BACK UP AND GOT STUCK IN THE SNOW . I ROCKED IT BACK AND FORTH A FEW TIMES AND THEN WE NOTICED SMOKE AND FIRE COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD .WE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND WITHIN 10 MINUTES THE WHOLE JEEP WAS ON FIRE! THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE WHEN I GOT STUCK NOT A CLEW WHY THIS VEHICLE WOULD HAVE STARTED ON FIRE. *TR

IT IS BEEN DOING 12-15 MILES PER GALLON ON A HIGHWAY WITHOUT HEAT OR AC ON. IT CONSUMING MORE FUEL THAN NORMAL.

I RECEIVED A RECALL N46/NHTSA 13V-252 IN JANUARY THAT SAID I WOULD NEED TO CONTACT MY DEALER IN ORDER TO GET THE FUEL TANK LEAKAGE ISSUE FIXED. I HAVE CALLED DEALERS REPEATEDLY AND THEY KEEP SAYING THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE. IT HAS BEEN FIVE MONTHS AND THAT IS TOO LONG TO WAIT. THE RECALL NOTICE STATED THAT IF THE DEALER FAILS TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT WIHIN A REASONABLE TIME, I MAY SUBMIT A WRITTEN COMPLAINT TO THIS WEBSITE. THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING NOW. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT FURTHER STEPS I NEED TO TAKE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHILE DRIVING THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. *JS

AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY SONS IN THE BACK SEAT, WE HEARD A LOUD BANG ON THE RIGHT BACK PASSENGER SIDE. THE WINDOW STARTED TO ROLL DOWN INTO THE DOOR SHIFT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND CATCH THE WINDOW AND MANUALLY PUSH IT BACK UP. IT THEN FELL COMPLETELY INTO THE DOOR SHIFT. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE ON 1/7-2014.CALLED LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER NUMEROUS TIME SINCE JAN. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT CHRYSLER HAS YET TO COME UP WITH THE REMEDY. WE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING ON OUR 2006 JEEP LIBERTY UNTIL WE HAD A SEVERE COLD SNAP (JEEP WAS BOUGHT IN FL AND NOW RESIDES IN DE) AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT DEVELOPED A SCREECHING, STRAINING NOISE IN THE STEERING AND ALL AROUND DRIVING.IT DIDN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED WE DROVE THE NOISE WAS ALWAYS THERE AND CONSISTENT, WHETHER YOU TURNED A CORNER, PUT ON THE BRAKES, BACKED UP OR DROVE ON THE ROAD NORMALLY ALMOST SOUNDED LIKE THE BRAKES WERE DRAGGING BUT WE HAD THE BRAKES CHANGED IN APRIL 2013. TOOK JEEP TO OUR AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH BAD UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS. DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN ALL OF A SUDDEN BUT IN ENDED UP A VERY COSTLY REPAIR. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS AT REST FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR, I CAME OUT TO DISCOVER THAT THE REAR DRIVER-WINDOW HAD FALLEN DOWN INTO THE DOOR. NOW THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN EITHER FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. IN CHICAGO, THIS IS A MAJOR HAZARD RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF WEATHER CONDITIONS. ALSO, HAVING A DOOR THAT WON'T OPEN COULD BE A SIGNIFICANT EMERGENCY ISSUE IN CASE OF NEEDING TO ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE. *TR

THIS STARTED APROX 3 YEARS AGO. WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK TO FULL, THE PUMP WOULD KICK OFF AND THEN GAS WOULD ALWAYS SPIT BACK AND OVERFLOW ON TO THE GROUND (SCARY) TO AVOID THIS, I STOPPED FILLING THE TANK TO FULL AND ONLY TO 3/4 FULL AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED. BUT NOW, I CAN'T ADD FUEL WITHOUT GAS SHOOTING BACK ALL OVER THE PLACE EVEN WHEN THE TANK HAS LOW FUEL. THE ONLY WAY FUEL CAN BE ADDED WITHOUT GETTING DRENCHED IN GAS, IS TO FIND A PUMP THAT YOU CAN FEATHER THE ON/OFF HANDLE TO RUN SLOW ENOUGH SO IT'S BARELY ADDING FUEL, THEN IT WILL NOT BACK UP. IT TAKES AT LEAST 20 MINUTES AT THE PUMP TO ADD 10 GALLONS OF GAS. UNFORTUNATELY I GAVE THIS VEHICLE TO MY 20 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND SHE IS SCARED TO ADD FUEL SO I HAVE TO DO IT. ALSO, I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE CLOCK SPRING AND THE "GAS CAP" LIGHT NEVER SHUTS OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR CLOCK SPRING ISSUES AND THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE SO SHE DROVE IT FOR MONTHS WITH THE WARNING LIGHTS ON AND THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE BUT THE LIGHTS HAVE NOW SHUT OFF.... THE GAS CAP WARNING COULD NOT BE FIXED BY THE DEALER SO THAT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. BUT THIS FUELING PROBLEM IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. *TR
