TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE AUTOMATED WINDOW FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. IN AUGUST OF 2010, THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
2006 JEEP LIBERTY WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF APPLYING SERVICE BRAKE IT COMES OUT SO FAR. DEALERSHIP WANTS $600 BUCKS TO REPLACE SHIFT LEVER TOWER AND SHIFT CABLE. OTHERS ON LINE TALK ABOUT SAME PROBLEM. DEALERSHIPS PLEAD IGNORANCE ON THE PROBLEM, BUT WILL GLADLY TAKE $600 TO REPLACE THE SHIFT LEVER TOWER AND ! *TR
I LEFT WORK TODAY AND WALKED OUT TO MY CAR TO FIND MY BACK DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN. WHEN I TRIED TO PUT IT UP, IT WOULDN'T GO. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM ON THE SAME VEHICLE AND THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME, ALMOST A YEAR TO THE DAY, THAT THIS WINDOW HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE REGULATOR WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED, AGAIN, AND THE COST WILL AGAIN BE OVER $300.00. EVEN AFTER THE REGULATOR IS REPLACED MY VEHICLE WILL NOT BE SAFE. THE COMPLETE RANDOMNESS OF THIS OCCURRENCE AND THE FACT THAT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME ON THE SAME WINDOW WITHIN A YEAR, LEAVES ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I CAN NO LONGER LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE IN MY CAR. I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHEN TRAVELING WITH MY DOGS. I WON'T BE ABLE TO TAKE CHILDREN IN MY CAR WITHOUT ANOTHER ADULT PRESENT. THE WINDOW FALLS COMPLETELY INTO THE DOOR LEAVING THE SPACE TOTALLY OPEN AND UNSAFE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR
LEFT REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL. WILL NOT GO UP. DOOR WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE PROPERLY. THE OTHER WINDOWS ARE STARTING TO GO OUT. I CAN TELL NOW, BY THE SOUND. THE REAR WINDOW HAS BEEN USED 3 TIMES. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE JEEP FOR 18 MONTHS. THE REPLACEMENT PART SEEMS TO FAIL RIGHT AFTER IT IS PUT IN. AT $550.00 PER WINDOW AT MY DEALER I CAN NOT GET THEM FIXED. BUT NOW MY KIDS CAN NOT RIDE IN THE BACKSEAT BECAUSE I AM AFRAID THE WINDOW WILL FALL. *TR
JEEP LIBERTY AUTOMOBILE, 2006 MODEL YEAR, MULTIPLE INCIDENTS OF DOOR WINDOW DROPPING SUDDENLY INTO THE DOOR FRAME. DRIVERS DOOR HAS HAPPENED TWICE, FRONT PASSENGER DOOR ONCE, DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR ONCE. ON TWO OCCASIONS THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND THE RESULTING CHAOS HAS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. JEEP DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR JEEP LIBERTY FROM 2002 TO 2006. THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION TO OFFER OTHER THAN REPLACING THE WINDOW SOLENOID WITH SAME TYPE THAT KEEPS FAILING. *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE/NEEDED REPLACED ON 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. SECOND ONE TO FAIL, FIRST COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, SECOND WAS NOT (PRICE 340.00 DOLLARS). HAPPENED TO BOTH REAR WINDOWS WHICH ARE RARELY DOWN. *TR
1. THERE ARE NOT EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. 2. THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR. IT HAS BROKEN 3 TIMES IN TWO YEARS. THE CONSEQUENCE IS THAT DURING TIMES OF EXTREME HEAT OR COLD, THE WINDOW WILL STAY DOWN POSING A HEALTH RISK (IN COLD WEATHER-COLD RELATED ILLNESS AND IN HOT WEATHER-DEHYDRATION) AS WELL AS A SAFETY RISK (OUTSIDE DEBRIS ENTERING VEHICLE AT HIGH VELOCITIES) TO THE REAR PASSENGER. 3. THE REGULATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES: TWICE BY DEALERSHIP AND ONCE BY MYSELF. THE OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
FAILURE OF POWER WINDOW COMPONENTS CAUSING WINDOW TO CRASH INTO INNER DOOR... ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BY FRIGHTENING ME TO THE POINT OF PANIC. AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION, I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY THAT CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO DEAL WITH... IT WILL EVENTUALLY BE DEALT WITH AFTER SOMEONE IS KILLED OR MAIMED. WHY DON'T YOU DO YOUR JOB AND DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR MAIMED. *TR
EVERY TIME I FUEL UP, THE FUEL PUMP DOES NOT STOP AND OVERFLOWS. I HAVE TO GUESS WHEN IT'S FULL AND STOP THE FUEL PUMP MANUALLY. *TR
BOTH REAR WINDOWS FELL INTO DOOR CAVITY MULTIPLE TIMES, WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL UP BY REGULATOR MOTOR, MUST BE LIFTED BY HAND AFTER REMOVING INTERIOR DOOR PANEL. BOTH REGULATORS WERE REPLACED TWICE WITHIN 18 MONTHS, DID NOT CORRECT PROBLEM, BOTH WINDOWS CONTINUED TO FALL & REQUIRE REMOVING INTERIOR DOOR PANEL TO LIFT. DEFECT OCCURS WHILE VEHICLE IS EITHER MOVING OR PARKED, LEAVES OCCUPANTS AND CONTENTS UNSECURED AND/OR SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE ELEMENTS, THEFT, AND OTHER HAZARDS. ONLY METHOD AVAILABLE TO SECURE WINDOWS WAS PERMANENTLY TYING IN CLOSED POSITION. >>> THIS IS AN ENGINEERING AND/OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT OF A SPECIFIC PART THE MANUFACTURER IS WELL AWARE OF MULTIPLE FAILURES. <<< THE DEFECTIVE PART NEEDS TO BE REDESIGNED SO IT DOES NOT FAIL MULTIPLE TIMES. *TR
LAST YEAR, RIGHT REAR POWER WINDOW FELL INTO DOOR WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR. THE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP AGAIN. REPAIR WAS $380. NOW, THE OTHER THREE WINDOWS ARE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH REAR WINDOWS WOULD DROP DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANELS WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC ON FOUR OCASSIONS WHERE THEY REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATORS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
JEEP LIBERTY 2006, MANUFACTURED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2005. REPEATED FAILURE OF PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATORS. A KNOWN ISSUE AND A CAUSE FOR THE RECALL, BUT ONLY FOR CARS MADE AS OF FEBRUARY OF 2006. WINDOW REGULATORS ARE JUST AS FAULTY ON JEEP LIBERTY'S 2006 THAT WERE MADE IN PREVIOUS MONTHS. ENDLESS REPLACEMENTS AT $600 EACH TIME. THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED AS SUDDEN WINDOW FAILURES MAY RESULT IN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS AND AS A RESULT, IN ACCIDENTS. *TR
IN MARCH 2009 I PURCHASED A USED 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND IN AUGUST 2009 THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW STOPPED WORKING JUST A LOUD CLICKING SOUND AND THEN YOU CAN MANUAL PULL AND PUSH THE WINDOW DOWN. A NEW REGULATOR/CABLE AND WINDOW HAD TO BE INSTALLED. IN MARCH 2010 THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW. IN JULY 2010 THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. EACH TIME THE WINDOWS STOPS WORKING THEY NEED TO REPLACED. MONEY OUT OF MY POCKET, NOW MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT AND THE WORK THAT GETS DOWN ONLY HAS A WARRANTY FOR SO LONG. THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER FIX THEN FORKING OVER $500+ EACH TIME A WINDOW STOPS WORKING. IT SEEMS AT THIS RATE IT'S GOING TO HAPPENED NOW EVERY YEAR. I AM AFRAID TO USE THE WINDOW AT ALL. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!!!! *TR
REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AND THE WINDOW DROPPED. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH JEEP WINDOW REGULATORS. A CHEAPLY MADE PLASTIC CLIP ROUTINELY BREAKS CAUSING THE WINDOW TO DROP (BOTH FRONT AND REAR POWER WINDOWS). MANY OWNERS HAVE REPLACED MULTIPLE WINDOW REGULATORS COSTING SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH. FAILURE OCCURS EVEN ON WINDOWS THAT ARE RARELY OPERATED. THE FAILURES CREATE A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. THE WEAK WINDOW REGULATORS ALSO MAKE IT VERY EASY TO BREAK INTO A VEHICLE. *TR
REAR LIGHT/STOP LIGHT LUBS KEEP BLOWING UP, I HAVE TO CHANGE THEM EVERY 2-3 WEEKS. I LOOKED ON LINE AND IT SEEMS THAT IT'S A PROBLEM FOR MOST OWNERS. *TR
EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE VEHICLE'S ENGINE DIES AT STOP SIGN/ RED LIGHT OR WHEN MAKING A TURN. MAY GO FOR SEVERAL DAYS WITHOUT THE PROBLEM, AND THEN IT HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES IN ONE DAY. SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE ON HOT DAYS, IN THE AFTERNOON. CONSIDERING REPLACING CRANK SHAFT AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS. HAVE FOUND SEVERAL REPORTS ONLINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR WINDOW DROPPED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TRACK. THE WINDOW WOULD NOT OPERATE BY THE ELECTRICAL SWITCH, AND COULD NOT BE MADE TO CLOSE. I AM TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THIS WILL COST 500 DOLLARS TO FIX, EVEN THOUGH THOUSANDS OF THESE FAILURES ARE RECORDED BY JEEP. THEY ALSO DEMANDED A $75.00 "DIAGNOSTIC FEE" TO TELL ME THIS. THIS IS DANGEROUS. A CHILD COULD BE PLACED IN SERIOUS JEPARDY BY THIS DEFECT. *TR

THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPILLS FUEL WHEN FILLING AT A GAS STATION. THE STATION PUMP SHUTS OFF AND THEN A FEW CUPS OF FUEL OVERFLOWS ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. IF IT IS WINDY, YOU WILL GET FUEL EVERYWHERE. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT GAS STATION YOU GO TO OR HOW FAST YOU FILL UP. YOUR ONLY OPTION IS TO STOP THE PUMP BEFORE THE TANK IS FULL. *TR
ALL THE WINDOW REGULATORS IN MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAVE FAILED AND I AM ON MY 2ND GO ROUND NOW. HAD ONE REPLACED ON 7/12 AND ON 7/14 HAD ANOTHER ONE FAIL. I SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD THE $1000 TO FIX BOTH WITHIN A 3 DAY TIME PERIOD. I'M SORRY - THIS IS REALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR CHRSYLER TO HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! .BECAUSE OF THE HIGH COST INVOLVED THAT I JUST COULDN'T AFFORD I HAD A FRIEND "RIG" YET ANOTHER OF THE WINDOWS ONLY A FEW SHORT MONTHS AGO AND NOW IT CANNOT BE OPENED AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE WINDOW. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE WINDOW WAS REPLACED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. FORM RETURNED NO CHANGE
WHILE DRIVING ON 75N WITH NO WARRING MY BACK PASSENGER WINDOW MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE THEN JUST FELL DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. I HAD TWO PUPPIES IN THE BACK SEAT AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING THEY WERE TRYING TO GO BY THE WINDOW. DROVE 5 MILES LIKE THIS TO THE NEAREST EXIT AND WAS FORTUNATE TO FIND A TUFFY AUTO SERVICE STORE. THE WINDOW WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY REGULATOR AND I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $400 TO FIX IT AND ABOUT 3 HOURS. I COULD NOT AFFORD THAT AT THE TIME, SO I DUCK TAPED PLASTIC TO THE WINDOW AND DROVE ANOTHER 2 HOURS NORTH ON 75 TO GET HOME. THIS WAS VERY SCARY AND AFTER A SERVER SAFETY ISSUE! I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP/CHRYSLER'S COMPLAINT LINE AND AFTER TWO DAYS HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM A CASE MANAGER. I WAS ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT THERE ARE CLOSE TO 200 COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY SITUATION ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND THAT JEEP IS NOT BACKING THEIR PRODUCTS. I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM TO SEE HOW THIS WILL BE COVERED. THIS TRULY COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS WITH THE DEATH OF MY DOG AND WHAT IF A BABY WAS BACK THERE. IN MANY CASES THE WINDOW'S ARE ACTUALLY SHATTERING WITH OUT WARNING AS THEY FALL. *TR
I OWN A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND HAVE HAD IT FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS. DURING THAT TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 3 OF THE 4 POWER WINDOWS DUE TO MECHANISM FAILURE. TONIGHT ONE OF THE WINDOWS I HAVE REPLACED WITH MANUFACTURERS REPAIR KIT HAS BROKEN SO I WILL NEED TO REPLACE AGAIN. I HAVE CHECKED ON THE INTERNET AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A PREVALENT PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY AND ONE THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A RECALL AND REPLACEMENT WITH RELIABLE METAL PARTS INSTEAD OF PLASTIC. AT $500 A WINDOW I CAN'T AFFORD TO CONTINUE TO KEEP REPLACING WINDOWS. *TR
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE AT A STOPLIGHT. HAD TO TURN OF THE MOTOR TO RESET. *TR
THE BACK WINDOWS FALL DOWN RANDOMLY AND WON'T STAY UP UNLESS THEY ARE TAPED. THE MECHANIC STATED IT WAS A FAULTY REGULATOR. JEEP IS AWARE OF THIS, HOWEVER, THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS IT IS RANDOM, OCCURRING WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED. *TR

DRIVER SEAT RECLINER HANDLE BROKE OFF WHILE MAKING THE NEEDED ADJUSTMENT, THE OPERATION OF THE RECLINER ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER IS EXTREMELY HARD. WITH OR WITH OUT A LOAD APPLIED TO THE BACK. DRIVE SEAT IS NOW RESTRICTED IN MOVEMENT AT A 25 DEGREE ANGLE. PASSENGER RECLINER WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU ARE OUT SIDE THE JEEP AND ASSIST FROM THE BACK SEAT TO MOVE THE SEAT BACK FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS. *TR
WHEN PUMPING GAS, IT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF, AND THE GAS OVERFLOWS. I HAD IT LOOKED AT, AND THEY SAID THE ENTIRE GAS TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
ESP/BAS MALFUNCTION ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE DOES NOT WANT TO BREAK AND HAS CAUSED ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WILL SHAKE AND MAKE A GRINDING SOUND. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE REAR END SENSOR AND CHARGED ME $289.80 FOR REPAIRS. THEY ALSO SAID THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THE GRINDING SOUND AND MY BRAKES ARE FINE. AFTER LOOKING THIS UP ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT AND A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

2006 JEEP LIBERTY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FREE FALLS INTO DOOR. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ON THE VERY SAME DOOR. THE FIRST TIME, IT WAS FIXED BY THE DEALER AT NO COST (MILEAGE: 19000, FEB., 2008). THIS TIME, AFTER EXPLAINING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE FIRST TIME, THE DEALER ASKED FOR $90 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, WHICH I FOUND RIDICULOUS. AFTER A VERY BRIEF INTERNET SEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM, WHICH MAKES IT EVEN MORE INFURIATING THAT THE DEALER WANTED ME TO PAY THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER FINALLY OFFERED TO MAKE THE REPAIR FOR $100, WHICH I DECLINED. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE, NOT TO MENTION A SECURITY ISSUE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, IT CAUSES THE DRIVER TO BE DISTRACTED, WHICH CAN -- AND EVENTUALLY WILL -- LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. ON THE SECURITY SIDE, THIS ISSUE CAN OCCUR AT ANY TIME, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT BEING DRIVEN, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A WINDOW BEING OPEN WITHOUT THE OWNER'S KNOWLEDGE. CHRYSLER AND THE GOVERNMENT REGULATORS NEED TO START TREATING THIS LIKE THE SAFETY ISSUE THAT IT IS AND ISSUE A RECALL. REPLACED MOTOR/REGULATOR ASSEMBLY 10-7-10= $172.99. I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR ALL PARTS & LABOR FOR THESE DAMAGES. THERE COULD BE INJURIES OR FATALITIES IN THE FUTURE IF THIS HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ELSE THAT'S NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED AND NOT AWARE OF REDUCED ENGINE PERFORMANCE OF A TURBO FAILING SLOWLY LIKE MINE BECAUSE OF A SMALL HOLE IN THE WASTE GATE ACTUATOR TUBING FROM VIBRATION ON THE HOUSING BRACKET BY THE TUBE. MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOW REGULATORS AND LIFT PLATES. JUNE 1, 2010, WAS THE FIRST REGULATOR TO GO OUT. THE SECOND ONE WENT OUT SHORTLY AFTER THAT. NOW THE FIRST ONE HAS DROPPED AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME, I PAID OVER $400 FOR THE REPAIR. THE SECOND ONE WAS COVERED BY CHRYSLER COMPLETELY, AND THEY REIMBURSED ME $333 FOR THE FIRST REPAIR WHEN THE SECOND REPAIR WAS DONE. THEY ARE GOING TO "CONSIDER" REIMBURSING ME FOR THIS THIRD ONE, BUT I HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH ALL OF THEIR HOOPS FOR IT TO BE CONSIDERED. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS AFFECTING MANY MANY LIBERTY OWNERS. THERE SHOULD BE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THESE REGULATORS AND PLATES. MY DAUGHTER IS DRIVING THIS CAR AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE CONCERNED WITH WHETHER HER WINDOWS ARE GOING TO STAY UP. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN IT SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ROLL DOWN THE STREET, JUMP THE CURB AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO POLICE REPORT. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE INSURANCE COMPANY BUT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 76,250.
YESTERDAY MY DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ROLL IT BACK UP IT MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME ONE OF THESE WINDOWS HAS FAILED WHEN THE SWITCH IS ACTIVATED. THEY HAVE FAILED TWICE BEFORE IN THIS VEHICLE OVER THE PERIOD WE'VE OWNED IT. 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT FUEL OVERFLOWS OUT OF FUEL FILLER TUBE WHEN FILLING GAS TANK NO MATTER HOW SLOWLY THE TANK IS FILLED. THE AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF AT SERVICE STATION PUMPS DOES NOT SENSE THE BACK PRESSURE OF THE FILL TUBE FOR THESE VEHICLES. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME WHEN REFUELING VEHICLE AT ANY SERVICE STATION. EACH OCCURRENCE CAUSES SPILLAGE OF FUEL (APPROXIMATELY 6-12 OUNCES) ON EXTERIOR PAINTED SURFACE OF VEHICLE, ON PERSON FILLING VEHICLE AND ONTO PAVEMENT CREATING NOT ONLY CUMULATIVE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE EXTERIOR BUT FIRE AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS AS WELL. INTERNET RESEARCH CONCERNING THIS ISSUE WITH JEEP VEHICLES SHOWS THIS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS ARE VERY RARELY ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND THEN ONLY IF VEHICLE IS WITHIN WARRANTY. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A DEFECT IN EITHER THE VEHICLE FUEL FILL TUBE, FUEL TANK OR BOTH. I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY WIFE AND 7 MONTH OLD BABY IN HER CAR SEAT WHILE DRIVING, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW COMPLETELY DROPS INSIDE THE DOOR. I'M VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS DUE TO IF THE WINDOW WOULD'VE BROKE OR SHATTERED IT COULD'VE HURT OUR NEW BORN BABY. BOTH REAR REGULATORS HAVE QUIT WORKING, LEAVING MY JEEP AND MYSELF VULNERABLE TO OTHERS BEING ABLE TO EASILY ENTER THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE REPLACED ONE AND WILL BE REPLACING THE OTHER NEXT WEEK DUE TO THE COST. AS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, THE SUN ROOF JUST QUIT WORKING AND STUCK PARTIALLY OPEN. I HARDLY EVER USE IT, SO IT DID NOT BREAK DUE TO USE. WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WILL COST $1300.00 DOLLARS TO REPAIR, WHICH WE CANNOT AFFORD. ALSO, FUEL QUITE OFTEN OVERFLOWS WHEN FUELING, SPILLING GASOLINE DOWN THE SIDE OF MY JEEP AS WELL AS SPRAYING OUT ONTO THE PERSON FUELING.
