2006 JEEP LIBERTY- VEHICLES WINDOW TRACKS DEFECTIVE WITH PLASTIC CLIPS. WINDOW WOULD FALL DOWN DUE TO DEFECTIVE PLASTIC WINDOW CLIPS HOLDING WINDOWS ONTO TRACKS. I WOULD PUT THE POWER WINDOW UP AND THE NEXT THING THE WINDOW WOULD FALL DOWN. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME IT WOULD COST $400 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE BUT NO RECALLS WERE PUT INTO EFFECT. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT IS $400 EACH WINDOW. ALSO THE ORIGINAL WINDOW THAT'S IS STILL GOOD CANNOT BE REATTACHED ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE NEW PART WOULD INCLUDE THE TRACK AND WINDOW TOGETHER. SO WHAT DO I DO WITH THE ORIGINAL WINDOW THAT IS STILL GOOD. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS. I FEEL OWNERS OF 2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAID DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PLASTIC CLIP. PLEASE HAVE CHRYSLER JEEP DO A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
I HAD MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IN MY DRIVEWAY AND LOOKED OUT MY BEDROOM WINDOW AND NOTICED THAT MY REAR WINDOW WAS WIDE OPEN IN THE RAIN!! I'M GLAD THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN IN A HIGH CRIME AREA! ANYWAY, BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AFTER WRAPPING PLASTIC OVER IT WITH DUCT TAPE AND HAD IT REPAIRED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY (47,000K). THE DEALER SAID IT WAS VERY COMMON IN THAT VEHICLE. I EXPLAINED THAT I'M LUCKY IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE OPPOSITE REAR WINDOW BEGAN TO DROP INTO THE DOOR WELL AFTER HEARING A POPPING SOUND WHICH DISTRACTED ME. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY CHRYSLER. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO GET MY $200 DEDUCTIBLE REIMBURSED FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE. THANK YOU. *TR
WE PURCHASED A USED JEEP LIBERTY 2006 SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THIS SPRING WE ROLLED DOWN THE REAR WINDOWS AND COULDN'T ROLL THEM UP. IN FACT, THE REAR WINDOWS SEEM TO BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE WINDOW MECHANISM AND CAN FREELY DESCEND. I HAD TO WEDGE THEM IN PLACE TO KEEP THEM UP. IN ARRANGING TO HAVE THESE FIXED WE WERE TOLD BY SERVICE PERSONNEL AT CORWIN CHURCHILL MOTORS IN BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH JEEP LIBERTYS AND THAT NO SAFETY RECALLS FOR THESE DEFECTIVE WINDOWS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR CHILDREN OR PETS. IF THE WINDOW WERE TO FREELY DESCEND A CHILD OR PET COULD POTENTIALLY BE INJURED FROM A FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH THE INJURY PREVENTION DIRECTOR AT THE NORTH DAKOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WHO SUGGESTED I SUBMIT THIS COMPLAINT TO YOUR OFFICE. *TR
MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAS HAD THE WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL WITH THE WINDOW FALLING BACK INTO THE DOOR UNEXPECTANTLY WHILE DRIVING. ALL FOUR OF THE REGULATORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE REGULATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND NOW HAS BROKEN AGAIN FOR A THIRD TIME. NO WARNING SIGNS ARE NOTED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. SO FAR IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED DURING GOOD WEATHER. IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN DURING INCLEMENT CONDITIONS. THE FIRST TWO FAILURES WERE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY WITH THE SAME FAULTY PARTS. THE LAST THREE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED BY MYSELF AS THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. JEEP HAS NOT REDESIGNED THE PART BUT ONLY REPLACES THE FAILED REGULATOR WITH THE POORLY DESIGNED ORRIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE COMPONENT WHICH FAILS EACH TIME IS A PLASTIC PIECE WHICH HOLDS THE WINDOW AND CONNECTS TO THE REGULATOR CABLE. THIS PLASTIC PIECE FAILS EVEN WITH MINIMAL TO NO USE OF THE WINDOW. THE REAR WINDOWS IN MY JEEP HAVE ALMOST NEVER BEEN ROLLED DOWN AND STILL FAIL. I DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THE PRIOR FAILED WINDOW REGULATORS BUT THE LAST FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED YET AND WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. BELOW UNDER THE "EQUIPMENT INFORMATION" HEADING AND THEN SUBCATEGORY "MODEL", I WAS GIVEN SEVERAL MODEL NUMBERS OF WHICH I HAVE NO IDEA SO I PICKED THE FIRST ONE. *TR
DRIVING VEHICLE, ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW WITH POWER WINDOW BUTTON, ATTEMPTED TO ROLL WINDOW UP LATER AND HEARD A "POP" SOUND. ARRIVED HOME, REMOVED THE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL, NOTICED THE WINDOW SLIDE REGULATOR HAD BROKEN FROM THE PLASTIC. USED ZIP TIES TO KEEP WINDOW HELD IN THE UP POSITION, RENDERING THE WINDOW USELESS. UNABLE TO AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, ROLLED DOWN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW AND EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME THING AS ABOVE. NOVEMBER 12, 2012, WIFE IS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, ROLLED DOWN THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW AND EXPERIENCED AGAIN WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LAST TWO INSTANCES. ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER SUPPORT, WAS TOLD TO GET AN INSPECTION FROM A DEALERSHIP AND THEN CONTACT THEM BACK. *TR
FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS SHE ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW, THE WINDOW EXHIBITED A LOUD, ABNORMAL SCREECHING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE REGULATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. ALL FOUR ELECTRIC WINDOW MOTORS HAVE FAILED AT LEAST ONCE, SOME MORE THAN ONCE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE FOR JEEP LIBERTY'S AND WARRANTS AN INVESTIGATION AND RECALL NOTICE AS REPAIR OF THIS KNOWN DEFECT CAN BE AS COSTLY AS $350-500. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE OTHER DAY I HEARD A NOISE WHEN I WAS LETTING THE WINDOW DOWN. THE WINDOW WAS STUCK AND WOULDN'T GO DOWN OR UP. I GOT OUT OF MY JEEP AND TOUCHED THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW AND THE WINDOW MOVED UP AND DOWN WHEN I TRIED TO LET THE WINDOW UP. I HAD TO PLACE CARD BOARD IN THE WINDOW'S FRAME TO KEEP THE WINDOW UP. THE NEXT DAY THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE WINDOW'S FRAME AND I CAN'T GET IT OUT. THIS IS MY SECOND NIGHT WITH MY REAR WINDOW DOWN IN MY JEEP. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR THE WINDOW RIGHT NOW AND I'M AFRAID THAT A THIEF WILL ENTER MY VEHICLE. I WAS SURPRISED THAT THIS COULD BE HAPPENING TO A 2006 VEHICLE. I DECIDED TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT THIS WAS A COMMON AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM WITH JEEP LIBERTY'S. WHY ARE JEEPS NOT BEING RECALLED DUE TO THIS DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM? *TR
THE POWER WINDOW ON THE RIGHT REAR AND THE LEFT REAR DOORS HAVE FAILED. THE REGULATOR WAS DEFECTIVE ON THE RIGHT REAR DOOR AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER WHILE UNDER WARRANTY BUT IT STILL COST ME $100. NOW THE LEFT REAR POWER WINDOW DOES NOT WANT TO RAISE THE WINDOW AND IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE TWO FRONT WINDOWS AND THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW INDEPENDENTLY OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2006 JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW REGULATORS ARE JUST PLAIN GARBAGE. I JUST HAD MY SECOND ONE FAIL AND I RARELY EVER MOVE MY WINDOWS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, WHEN A CHILD PASSENGER ACTIVATED THE WINDOW SWITCH. THERE WAS A LOUD CRACKING SOUND AND THE WINDOW FELL FROM FULLY CLOSED POSITION DOWN INTO THE DOOR IN FULLY OPEN POSITION. SOME KID WILL FALL OUT OF A WINDOW ONE OF THESE DAYS AND DIE BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE WEB ABOUT THESE THINGS FAILING WHILE JEEPS ARE PARKED AND UNATTENDED. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS OBVIOUSLY INFERIOR AND DANGEROUS DESIGN? *TR
THIS HAS CAUSED GREAT INCONVENIENCE, NOT TO MENTION CONCERN. I'M A SINGLE MOM OF A TODDLER AND THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR OF MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY BROKE. I DON'T OPEN THIS WINDOW OFTEN, SINCE MY PASSENGER IS IN THE BACK ALONE. I NOW HAVE TO COLLECT $500+ TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM THAT CAN BECOME VERY SERIOUS, VERY QUICKLY. IN ADDITION, MY CAR IS NOW ACCESSIBLE TO VANDALS. IS CHRYSLER WAITING FOR A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT TO OCCUR BEFORE APPROVING THIS RECALL? MULTIPLE REPEATED FAILURES OF POWER WINDOWS, MOST RECENTLY LEFT REAR ON OR ABOUT 5/1/2010. WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM REPAIRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. DOOR FELL INTO WINDOW WHEN HUSBAND WAS BEING ADMITTED TO HEALTH SOUTH REHABILITATION HOSPITAL TWO YEARS AGO, AND NEITHER DEALERSHIP NOT EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE WOULD COVER AN EMERGENCY REPAIR. WE LIVE AT AN ALTITUDE OF OVER 8,000 FEET AND MY HUSBAND HAS HAD SURGERIES FOR BRAIN ANEURYSMS AND FOR LUNG CANCER, WHICH HAS LEFT HIM IN FRAGILE HEALTH. WE BOUGHT OUT JEEP LIBERTY AFTER HIS SURGERIES BECAUSE HE LIKED THE MULTIPLE PASSENGER SIDE HANDLES ON THE RENEGADE MODEL. WHEN A WINDOW FAILS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY, IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR AN OLDER MAN WHO IS VERY SENSITIVE TO COLD. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. ARE WE JUST WAITING FOR A VULNERABLE PERSON TO PASS AWAY FROM EXPOSURE? *TR
HVAC IN AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT I'M TOLD BECAUSE OF MILEAGE THAT IT'S NOT BEING FIXED IT WAS A RECALL AND I FEEL IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THE WINDOW AND WINDOW MOTOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. Cannot add fuel to tank without it kicking fuel nozzle off, I have to add fuel slower then the fuel nozzle will do on it's on, takes for ever to add any amount of fuel, problem started out by splashing fuel on to me and the vehicle before it would complete filling tank.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. AFTER ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. THE OTHER THREE WINDOWS HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 23,000.
WINDOW REGULATOR KEEPS FAILING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN 2010. I HAVE HAD 4 REGULATORS REPLACED SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2006. I NOW HAVE BOTH DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS THAT ARE BROKEN AND WILL BE FIXED NEXT WEEK WHEN PARTS COME IN. THIS IS NOW THE 5TH AND 6TH REGULATORS I HAVE HAD TO HAVE DON. VERY AGGRAVATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE CONTACT COULD HEAR WIND IN THE CABIN AND FOUND THE REAR PASSENGERS SIDE WINDOW WAS OPEN WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT. SHE WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE THE WINDOW AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,460.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IN MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY FELL DOWN AND WILL NOT GO UP. IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVE THE FREEWAYS (THE ONLY WAY FOR ME TO GET HOME FROM LOS ANGELES) IN THE RAIN WITH A WINDOW THAT MALFUNCTIONED. THE DEALERSHIP ALREADY FIXED THIS PROBLEM ONCE, AND TWICE IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
I OWN A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED IN THIS VEHICLE. MY JEEP ONLY HAS 43234 MILES ON IT. THE FIRST 2 WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS LAST WAS THE REAR LEFT WINDOW. HARDLY USED. HAD TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR PLUS PUT A NEW WINDOW IN BECAUSE THEY CHANGED THE PART. AT THE COST OF $425. WHAT A RIP! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE REGARDING THE BRAKES. THE MECHANIC NOTICED RUST AND CORROSION UNDERNEATH THE CARRIAGE AND ON THE BRAKES. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE FOR $600. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE MECHANIC FOR ANOTHER ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WITHIN 14 MONTHS. THE MECHANIC INFORMED HER THAT THE LEFT REAR AXLE WAS COVERED WITH RUST AND CORROSION. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE RUST AND STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 6,200. UPDATED 03/14/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKES STARTED VIBRATING. THE DEALER FOUND ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE CORRODED AND ALL FOUR PADS WERE WORN. UPDATED 03/30/12
BAD ACTUATOR ON THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY WINDOWS. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME I NEED TO GET THE WINDOW FIXED. IT HAS NEVER BEEN CORRECTED. THERE IS A NEW ACTUATOR SUPPOSE TO BE BETTER BUT HAVE TO REPLACE THE WINDOW ALSO. BAD THING ABOUT IT THE WINDOW CAN FALL DOWN AND IT WOULD BE UNSECURED. *TR
REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WHILE CLOSING (WAS ONLY 1/4 OPEN) LOUD NOISE THEN WOULD NOT CLOSE OR OPEN WITH BUTTON. HAD TO PUSH UP MANUALLY TO CLOSE, WINDOW WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. KEPT SLIDING OPEN. TOOK TO DEALER REPAIRED REGULATOR AND HAD TO REPLACE WINDOW. ONLY OWNED CAR FOR APPROX. 1 MONTH. *TR
JEEP 2006 LIBERTY BOUGHT NEW 12/26/06. AS OF TODAY MY JEEP WILL BE BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPT. TO HAVE THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW LOOKED AT. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE JEEP REGARDING THE WINDOWS SINCE 2007. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE REGULATORS AND THE WINDOWS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE LAST TIME THE REGULATOR AND WINDOW WAS REPLACED WAS AUGUST 2008 AND NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER THE SAME ISSUE OCCURS. THE IS SOMETHING THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS AND HAVE RESOLVED FOR OTHER OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR

ALMOST EVERY I FILL MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4BY4 WITH GAS IT SPILLS OUT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE DEFECTIVE AND THE WINDOWS OPENED INVOLUNTARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THAT A WINDOW IN MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAS DROPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ADN I'VE ONLY OWNED IT FOR 1 YEAR. LAST TIME IT WAS BY BABIES REAR WINDOW THAT DROPPED ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS TIME IT IS WAS PASSENGER WINDOW THAT DROPPED ON OUR WAY TO THE PARK. I DIDN'T EVEN USE IT BECAUSE THE AC WAS ON. IT JUST DROPPED LOUDLY, EVERYONE SCREAMED, I SWERVED AND WE ALMOST HIT A SIGN! LUCKILY I GAINED CONTROL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. NOW I HAVE TO PAY $500 TO GET IT FIXED AND BE OUT OF A VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 2 DAYS. I'VE HAD ENOUGH AND I WANT CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM! *TR

1. USING THE FRONT, POWER CONTROLS, I ROLLED DOWN THE EACH OF THE 4 WINDOWS OF MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY TO 3/4. 2. MY REAR, DRIVERS WINDOW DID NOT ROLL BACK UP WITH THE REMAINDER WHEN PROMPTED FROM THE FRONT CONTROLS. MY PASSENGERS AND I HEARD A SLIGHT CLICKING A GRINDING, THEN THE WINDOW FELL TO 1/2 OPEN. AT THIS POINT, THE WINDOW WILL NOT MOVE UP OR DOWN. 3. MY GARAGE DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A FAILED MOTOR AND REGULATOR. SAYS HE CHANGED SEVERAL IN THE PAST MONTH. TALKS ABOUT HOW EACH OF THE JEEPS ARE MADE WITH POOR WIRING AND REGULATORS, AND HOW HE CHANGES SEVERAL, OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY, AT $500 A JOB. CHRYSLER HAS YET TO RECALL A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE HAVE HAD IN THE PAST WITH THE SAME EQUIPMENT; THOUGH THEY HAVE RECALLED THIS EQUIPMENT FOR THE SAME ISSUES IN THE PAST. THIS CONTINUED USE OF POOR COMPONENTS SHOULD NOT BE THE CONSUMERS BURDEN TO BEAR. PLEASE URGE A RECALL ON POWER WINDOW REGULATORS AND MOTORS FOR THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY - THREE WINDOW FAILURES WITHIN A FOUR MONTH PERIOD (TWO BACK WINDOWS AND DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW. PAID OVER $600 TO REPAIR THE BACK WINDOWS BUT WHEN THE 3RD ONE FAILED, WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WE WERE TOLD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND CHRYSLER WOULD PAY THE DEALER FOR THE REPAIRS. WE ASKED ABOUT THE PREVIOUS REPAIRS AND WERE TOLD TO WRITE TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INCLUDE COPIES OF INVOICES. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF DOING THIS AND DON'T HAVE ANY RESPONSE YET. *TR
USED VEHICLE, CARFAX SHOWS ISSUE WITH WINDOW REGULATOR TWICE BEFORE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD WITH MY WINDOW 1/2 WAY DOWN, THE WINDOW JUST WENT CRASHING INTO THE DOOR. THE WINDOW GLASS DID NOT BREAK. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK... WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT.. THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW FELL DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO UP. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT APART AND WE DISCOVERED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD FAILED.. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT RAINING.. AND THE WINDOW DID NOT BREAK.. I DID SOME RESEARCH TRYING TO LOCATE A PART AND YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE COMPONENT WHICH COSTS AN AVERAGE OF $145 INSTEAD OF THE PLASTIC CLIP THAT PROBABLY COSTS ABOUT $1.00. IT WAS ALSO BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN LIBERTY'S AND I WAS APPALLED THAT EVEN NEW VEHICLES WERE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS! IN MY 10 MINUTE SEARCH 20 PEOPLE REPORTED ABOUT HAVING TO REPLACE THIS PART SEVERAL TIMES IN MORE THAN ONE WINDOW! CHRYSLER SHOULD REALLY CHANGE SOMETHING SO THIS PRODUCT DOESN'T FAIL SO OFTEN IN SO MANY VEHICLES! SOME DAY SOMEONE WILL BE INJURED BECAUSE OF THIS PART MALFUNCTIONING. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT MY SON!
2006 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED THE PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATORS ARE CONSTANTLY BREAKING AND THUS THE WINDOW FALLS ALL THE WAY DOWN INTO THE DOOR(S). I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE BROKEN WINDOW OPEN OR USE TAPE OR PLASTIC BAG TO KEEP RAIN OUT WHEN THE WEATHER IS BAD UNTIL I CAN GET TO THE DEALERSHIP. IN THE PAST 3 YEARS SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR, I HAVE HAD TO BRING IN MY CAR ON 6 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. ALL THE PREVIOUS REPLACEMENTS WERE DONE UNDER WARRANTY. EACH DOOR WINDOW, EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER'S WINDOW HAS BROKEN TWICE AND TODAY MAKES IT THREE TIME FOR THE REAR LEFT SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW. I FEEL THE SAFETY OF MY CAR IN IS JEOPARDY WHEN THE WINDOW IS FULLY DOWN AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE NOT BEING ABLE TO PUT IT UP WHEN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THIS MODEL'S WINDOWS AND REGULATORS HAVE CAUSED MANY PEOPLE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT ACCORDING TO THIS SITES 175 COMPLAINTS REGISTERED SO FAR FOR THIS PROBLEM. JEEP SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE THESE REGULATORS FOR EVERYONE FOR FREE FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR UNLESS THEY CAN MANUFACTURE A PART THAT WILL NOT BREAK WITHIN 8 MONTHS OF INSTALLATION. THE DEALER I GO TO STATES THAT THE CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT I MUST PAY A $150 "CO-PAY" TO HAVE IT FIXED AS A "GOODWILL" COST COVERING OF JEEP-CHRYSLER BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO PAY FOR THEIR SHODDY DESIGN AND PARTS THAT KEEP BREAKING.
I OWN A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY EACH ALL OF MY WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE BROKEN ATLEAST ONCE IN THE LAST 3YRS. MY BACK DRIVER SIDE WINDOW HAS BROKEN TWICE AND MY FRONT PASSENGAR SIDE WINDOW HAS BROKEN TWICE. THIS CAUSES THE WINDOW TO FALL AND CANNOT BE HELD UP.

THE PUMP WILL CLICK OFF, AND ABOUT TWO SECONDS LATER, ABOUT A CUP OF FUEL WILL SPILL OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE ALL OVER MY HANDS, CLOTHES, AND VEHICLE. JEEP DEALER SAID THEY'VE NOT HEARD OF THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH WITH 5 MINUTES OF RESEARCH ONLINE, IT'S VERY COMMON. WINDOW REGULATORS BREAK WITH NORMAL USE. THIS HAS CREATED A FINANCIAL STRESS AND SAFETY ISSUE. MY DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. I WAS INFORMED BY A DEALERSHIP THAT DOOR OPENING MECHANISM GETS INTERFERED WITH WHEN THE REGULATOR BREAKS. THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE WINDOWS TO STAY UP, AS I CANNOT AFFORD THE REPLACEMENT. BUT BOTH REAR DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE, AND THE WINDOWS WILL NOT FUNCTION.

I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY, THE FRONT DRIVERS WINDOW AND THE REAR DRIVERS WINDOW HAVE BOTH FALLEN WHILE DRIVING. I CURRENTLY HAVE THEM TY WRAPPED UP. THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX BUT ALSO A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH EGRESS IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY THAT SPEWS GAS AS IT GETS FULL. IT HAS SHOT OUT AS MUCH AS 3-4 CUPS WORTH AT ITS WORST. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME IT IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM CONSIDERING THE AMOUNT OF GAS THAT IS SPILLED EACH TIME.I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS A FAULTY VENTING MECHANISM IN THE GAS TANK AND SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE ON JEEPS AND DODGES. I MADE MENTION OF IT AT THE DEALERSHIP EACH TIME I HAVE HAD IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY NEVER EVEN LOOKED INTO IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT MUST BE THE GAS PUMP I AM USING. I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN AT GAS STATIONS IN 8 STATES NOW. I AM SURE IT IS NOT THE GAS PUMPS. NOW THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, I AM TOLD THAT THEY COULD REPLACE THE GAS TANK AT MY EXPENSE. ON 3/20/10 THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE CAR WAS PARKED WITH DOG INSIDE IN A SNOW STORM IN PARKER, CO. MY DOG JUMPED OUT AND WAS RECOVERED BY ANIMAL CONTROL. SEVERAL ITEMS IN MY JEEP WERE COVERED IN SNOW/ICE INCLUDING PAPERWORK AND OFFICIAL FORMS FOR FOR MY WORK THAT HAS SINCE BEEN RUINED DUE TO WATER DAMAGE. THIS IS THE 5TH TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH WINDOW REGULATORS IN THIS SAME VEHICLE. IN AUGUST OF 2009, THE REAR DIRVER'S SIDE WINDOW HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT THIS TIME CHRYSLER TOLD ME THAT DEFECTIVE PARTS WERE BEING USED IN LIBERTYS BUT THERE IS NO RECALL AND THE REPLACEMENT OPTION WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GLASS AND REGULATOR. IN DECEMBER OF 2009, THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW BEGAN ROLLING UP CROOKED AND WAS REPLACED. THE PASSENGER WINDOW IS YET TO BE REPLACED AS I AM WAITING ON A RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THEY WILL COVER THE $500.00 REPAIR COST SINCE THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM. *DT
