Airbag light has been coming on and stays on. When I start my vehicle the airbag in the dash on passenger side sounds like it’s trying to escape. Scary. I have a service appointment for April 2, 2026, Thursday. They can’t get me in sooner. I understand the recall doesn’t apply. I’m stating that it SHOULD! Please expand your recall to more Jeep models. I want this on record as I am deeply concerned about my safety.
Suspension rotting out for jeeps were recalled up until 2007. My 2008 jeep has the same issue with rotted suspension bars. Originally recalls were for 2005 they added up to 2007. Mine is a 2008. We need to add another year suspension bar is rusted in half. 158 thousand miles. the rest of underbody is solid. .
I am having problems when I back up and turn the steering wheel it starts to make noise and it slows down line it don't want to turn. And my EPS light will not turn off no matter what I do to it. There is something seriously wrong when I'm backing up n turning the wheels if you could please help me an if it has nothing to do with the recall but I'm sure it dies let me know what it is. Both lower rear control arms rusted out, broke off entirely while driving. Under 100k miles. This issue was recalled on the same make and model up until 2007 but they clearly haven't fixed the issue.
Steering wheel air bag went off on its own. Started the car and pop. Door locks won’t work on drivers door when unlocking with key fob
The contact's husband owned a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag and traction control warning lights would flash on the instrument panel. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, the vehicle hydroplaned while crossing a puddle of water and landed in a ditch. The side curtain air bags deployed; however, the driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that an abnormal odor was emitted from the vehicle. The contact sustained bruising on the left arm but did not seek medical attention. A police report was not filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was initially towed to the contact's home and was later towed to an independent tow yard. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.
Rear control arms rusted on both sides. One side cracked almost completely through. Mechanic confirmed close to failure which would cause loss of control of vehicle. In 2017 this model was recalled for this danger but only through model year 2007. Appears same defective part was used in this model year (2008). No warning lights of problem. Observed myself and mechanic confirmed problem.
Recently driving down the road heard a very loud noice thought i had a tire blowout. It was both Rear lower control arms broken Completely into( very rusty ).It also broke my exhaust and banged up the driveshaft. This is very expensive to repair and could have very well been Deadly. Would like for someone to contact me asap ty
The air bag light has been turning on for no reason I don’t know what’s causing it
I was driving from NY City to Boston, MA when suddenly I hear a big noise thankful to God I didn't lose control on my vehicle, I parked and notice the driver's side tire was completely deflated. I wait for several hours for help. Also one of the rear tires has big bulge on it. I check for any recalls on these tires, but there is none for this size. What can I do? The tires have only 2000-3000 miles on the car. I call Cooper customer service recalls and they were rude and did't help at all. This is a safety issue and I would like my tires to be replaced ASAP. Airbag system failure due to clockspring malfunction. Identified by owner due to airbag system failuer warning light and repaired by Billion Chrysler, Jeep, Ram in Sioux Falls, SD.
While driving the vehicle the car started having various electrical problems. The wipers kept going on and off and all instrument lights kept going on and off.
Airbag was replaced Sept 2019. I just had to replace coil spring again in the airbag Very costly
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated while at a standstill, the horn and windshield wipers would activate independently. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and told the contact to call NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was unavailable. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE FAILURE FROM RECURRING.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while replacing the brake pads, the contact became aware that the driver’s side lower control arm and rear axle were corroded. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 18V278000 (Suspension). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 74,762.
We had a fire in the engine compartment. Fire started at the engine manifold ! We took pictures of the damage! This could have killed my son in law ! We gifted the vehicle to him so it could be used as a station vehicle. A dangerous situation Exist ! There is no recall or acknowledgment of this problem being identified!
Gas burps out every time you fill the tank!
ONCE PARKED THE HEAT SHEILD CAME UP AGAINST THE HEATER CORE AND MUST HAVE SPARKED CAUSING IT TO CATCH FIRE UNDER THE HOOD! NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE CAUSING A POSSIBLE FATAL ISSUE
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK TO FULL CAPACITY AND FUEL FLOW IS SHUT OFF, FUEL COMES BACK UP OUT OF FILL PORT SPILLING AT LEAST 2 CUPS OF GAS OVER FILLER AND GROUND. HAPPENS EVERY TIME TANK IS FILLED FULL. THIS OCCURS WHILE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY ENGINE OFF WHILE AT ANY GAS STATION. IT IS AN APPARENT FAILURE ON A VALVE IN THE GAS TANK REQUIRING ENTIRE TANK TO BE REPLACED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO MANUFACTURER.
ON 17 FEBRUARY, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, I PLACED MY CAR INTO REVERSE TO BACK INTO AN AVAILABLE PARKING SPOT AND THE ENGINE REVVED UP ON ITS OWN AND SHOT THE CAR BACKWARD AT TOP SPEED HITTING AND TOPPLING A SAN DIEGO LIGHT POST AND STOPPING WHEN IT HIT A TREE. NO ONE WAS INJURED THANK GOODNESS. I FOUND ON LINE THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED AT LEAST 31 TIMES WITH A SIMILAR JEEP LIBERTY.
I'M SPEEDING UP AS I'M PASSING A TRUCK ON 395, SIGNALING WITH LEFT BLINKER. START SPEED AS BEGINNING TO PASS IS APPROX. 55 MPH. I SIGNAL RIGHT AS I PULL BACK IN THE SOUTH BOUND LANE, TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AS I NOTICE I'M DRIVING 80 MPH. THE GAS PEDAL IS STUCK AND THE CAR IS GOING 80 MPH ON ITS OWN. I STEP ON THE BRAKE CAREFULLY BUT ITS ROCK HARD AND DOESN'T MOVE AT ALL. AT THIS POINT THE CAR IS STUCK AT 80 MPH. I TRY TO BRAKE AGAIN BUT THE SAME - BRAKE PEDAL IS STUCK, DOESN'T MOVE AT ALL AND IS ROCK HARD. ROAD CONDITIONS ARE GOOD SO I'M IN A "CONTROLLED PANIC", AND TRY THE BRAKE ONE MORE TIME. THIS TIME THE BRAKES ENGAGE AND I GET THE CAR DOWN TO 65 MPH. I DON'T WANT TO BURN THE BRAKES SO I RELEASE THE BRAKE AND IMMEDIATELY THE CAR SPEEDS UP ON ITS OWN TO 80 MPH. I REPEAT. SLOW TO 65 MPH, STEP OFF THE BRAKE AND AGAIN THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SPEEDS UP TO 80 MPH. AT THIS POINT MY THOUGHTS GO TO CRUISE CONTROL (WHICH I HAD NOT ACTIVATED OR USED ON THIS TRIP). I PULL THE "CANCEL" ON THE CRUISE CONTROL, NOTHING. I TRY AGAIN AND LOOK AT THE DASHBOARD WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT IS "OFF", INDICATING CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT ON. I TURN THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AND PULL THE "CANCEL" AGAIN AND BRAKE. THIS TIME THE CAR COMES OUT OF IT, AND I TURN THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF AGAIN. SINCE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT EVEN ON TO BEGIN WITH, I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S WHAT ACTUALLY MADE THE CAR 'UNFREEZE'. I WAS LUCKY I WAS ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF ROAD WITH NO TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME. SINCE I WAS PASSING A TRUCK I'M NOT 100% SURE IF I SPED UP TO 80 MPH OR IF THE CAR SUDDENLY DID THAT ON ITS OWN. I DO BELIEVE THE CAR DID THAT, AS THERE WAS NO REASON TO GET UP TO THAT SPEED TO PASS SAFELY.
CAR AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCKS MANY TIMES PER DAY. NO ONE AROUND, NO KEYS NEAR BY. CAR WAS KEY LOCKED AND THIS UNLOCKING STILL CONTINUES. CAR IS STATIONARY PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL DAYS. I REPORTED ONLY THE BEGINNING DATE
THERE IS A GRINDING NOICE COMING FROM EITHER THE TRANSFER CASE OR THE DOVE SHAFT, EITHER WAS IT IS LOUD AND CAUSES LIGHTS ON THE DASH TO COME ON AND STAY ILLUMINATED THE LIGHTS ARE AS FOLLOWS: ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, ESP BAS, AND SERVICE 4WD.
BLEND DOOR FOR DEFROSTER JAMMED AT VENTS FOR A/C. ACTUATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. DOOR TO BLEND IS JAMMED DUE TO GLUE AND FOAM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF. WINDOWS SUDDENLY FOG UP AND NO WAY TO CLEAR AS THE BLEND DOOR IS JAMMED. THE REPAIR IS ESTIMATED AT $500. THIS SHOULD NOT BE BORN ON THE BACKS OF THE CONSUMER AS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT JEEP FAILED TO FIX PROPERLY THROUGH THE HISTORY OF THE JEEP LIBERTY..
THIS CARS TIPM SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY FAULTY I'VE HAD IT FIXED 3 ALREADY AND IT STILL ACTS AS OF IT IS POSSESSED. THIS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY WHERE THE CAR STARTED GOING OFF BY IT'S SELF STALLED AND COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I ALMOST DIED. THERE HAS BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLES TIPM SYSTEM BUT JEEP REFUSES TO RECALL THEM. ALSO THE AIRBAGS DO NOT DEPLOY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE
THE PASSENGER BACK SEAT SEATBELT THREAD CAME APART WHILE MY SON WAS WEARING IT DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ROAD WHEN A CAR PULLS OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND HAD TO DO A QUICK STOP LUCKY I WAS NOT IN A ACCIDENT.*DT*JB*DT*DT*JB*DT*DT*DT*DT*DT*JB CONSUMER STATED SHE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ONLY 2 YEARS.*JB VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT SEATBELT REPLACEMENT WASN'T THERE.*JB THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PHOTOS. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE OLD PARTS WERE EITHER DISPOSED OF BY THE DEALER OR POSSIBLY LOST. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY WITH A SKYSLIDER THAT RECENTLY BROKE. NO ONE CAN REPAIR OR FIND PARTS TO REPAIR THIS. AT HIGH SPEEDS THE TOP CAN LIFT OFF OF THE VEHICLE AND FLAP IN THE WIND. IT LEAKS WATER BECAUSE IT NO LONGER SEALS. IT POSES A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS WHEN IT CATCHES WIND BECOMES LOOSE AND LIFTS OFF OF THE JEEP. ITS A DISTRACTIONS BECAUSE IT DOESNT WORK CORRECTLY AND PERIOD FLAPPINGS CAUSE ME TO LOOK AWAY FROM THE ROAD. I AM CURRENTLY USE USING PIECES OF METAL TO JUST KEEP IN CLOSED. THE ONLINE COMMUNITY IS ASKING FOR A RECALL AND THINKS THIS POSES A DANGER TO OTHER DRIVERS.
I HAD A REAR DIFFERENTIAL KIT PUT IN MY CAR BACK IN MARCH 2016 AND LOW AND BEHOLD THE SAME ISSUE IS GOING ON NOW. I ALSO HAD THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING AND HUBS REPLACE AND STILL THE WHINING NOSE.

OUR 2008 JEEP LIBERTY WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE HORN BEGAN HONKING ON IT'S OWN, THE VEHICLE STARTED, THE ALTERNATOR MADE THE BELT BURN, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. ALL OF THIS WAS HAPPENING WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED. WHEN WE TRIED TO PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP MAKING THE NOISES OR SHUT OFF.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SZOTT M-59 CHRYSLER JEEP (6700 HIGHLAND RD, WHITE LAKE CHARTER TOWNSHIP, MI 48383) FOR ROUTINE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE. UPON RETURN OF THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT, OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE STARTS GOOD NO PROBLEMS DURING THE FIST START OF THE ENGINE ON THE DAY, MY WORK IS A FOLLOWS I MAKE SEVERAL STOPS DURING THE DAY WITH AN APPROXIMATED 30 MIN IN BETWEEN, LATER DURING THE DAY VEHICLE STALLS, SEVERAL LIGHTS ON DASH BOARD FLUSH AND MOVE, I HAVE TO MAKE SERVAL ATTEMPTS TO START THE ENGINE VEHICLE CONTINUE TO STALLS, AT THIS PINTS THE VEHICLE HAS STAID SEVERAL OCCASIONS AT THE DEALER AND DIFFERENT MECHANIC PER THE DEALER THEY DINT NOW WHY THE VEHICLE IS DOING THIS , PER MECHANIC STARTER, AND ALTERNATOR GOOD. SO FAR I HAD REPLACE THE BATTERY, COMPUTER AND PAY FOR MULTIPLE INSPECTIONS, THIS IS FRUSTRATING, I ALSO NOTICED ONLINE RE SEARCH MULTIPLE JEEP OWNERS HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT, ANY ASSISTANCE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. WHEN I AM DRIVING MY JEEP THE PARKING BREAK WILL RANDOMLY COME ON WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR STREET. THE HEAT SHAFT UNDER MY JEEP COMPLETELY FELL OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING 30 MILES PER HOUR ON A CITY STREET. THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS, LOCKS AND AUTO START FREQUENTLY GLITCH OUT WHERE THEY JUST DO NOT WORK AT ALL. THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS ONLY ABOUT HALF OF THE TIME AND WILL NOT TURN ON AT ALL THE OTHER HALF OF THE TIME. *TR
TIPM FAILURE IN TRANSIT. JEEP STALLED ON ROADWAY. ALL DASH LIGHTS LIT, AND "NO BUS" ON THE ODOMETER. NEAR COLLISIONS BUT LUCKY THEY MANAGED TO STOP. 2008 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED. IS NOT OPEN FOR A RECALL ON THE TIPM REPLACEMENT THOUGH ALL OTHER YEARS WITH SAME MODULE ARE. '07 09' AND LATER. NOT SAFE. AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY.
THE SKY SLIDER IS KNOWN TO LEAK, STOP WORKING, AND IS KNOWN TO DETACH FROM VEHICLES WHILE TRAVELING. CURRENTLY WITH MINE IT HAS STOPPED WORKING, IT LEAKS BAD, AND THE PARTS THAT KEEP IT SECURED HAVE BROKEN OFF CAUSING WIND TO RUSH INSIDE FROM BOTH SIDES IN THE FRONT.
SKY SLIDER IS BROKE AND NOBODY HAS THE PARTS TO FIX IT. IT LEAKS WATER AND DOESN'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY SO THE NOISE IS AWFUL. ONLY FIX IT TO SCREW IT SHUT OR REPLACE WITH HARD ROOF. WE NEED REPLACEMENT PARTS ASAP. *TR

I HAVE A REFERENCE #,WAS TOLD I'D HAVE TO PAY $1300. OUT OF POCKET CAUSE THERES NOT A RECALL PENDING ON MY VEHICLE..BUT IT'S AN AIRBAG ISSUE..HAD TO WAIT 2 WEEKS TO GET INTO DEALERSHIP WITH A APPOINTMENT..
2008 JEEP LIBERTY....THE SUNROOF SLIDER HAS ALMOST FLOWN OFF WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH TWICE ON CITY STREETS, IT RIPPED OFF MY STEREO ANTENNA AND LUCKILY IT DIDNT FLY OFF ...I'VE READ ABOUT OTHER 2008 JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT!!!! I GUESS IT'S SAFE TO ASSUME THAT WHEN THE SUNROOF DOES FLY OFF, KILLS SOMEBODY OR MAYBE SEVERAL PEOPLE, MAYBE, CHRYSLER WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. WHAT'S THIS WORLD COMING TOO?
THIS VEHICLE HAS A BROKEN CONTROL ARM. WHILE THE 2008 LIBERTY IS NOT UNDER RECALL THE 2004-2007 LIBERTY IS UNDER RECALL FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED.
I WAS LEAVING WENDYS A FAST FOOD PLACE AND THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED ON THEN SHUT OFF I TRIED TO TURN THEM ON AGAIN AND THEY WOULDN'T COME BACK ON. I COULDN'T LEAVE WITHOUT LIGHTS SO I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLES AND TIED THEM TOGETHER FOR 10 MINUTES. THEN I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THEY WORKED FOR A WHILE.

THE CONTACT STATED ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACTED STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUSE PANEL WAS REPLACED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: 10136536 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS DRIVING ON57TH ST WEST AND MY AIR-BAG EXPLODE. I DID NOT HIT SOMETHING OR SOMETHING HIT ME. IT WAS A VERY,VERY SCARED MOMENT. MY RIGHT ARM GOT BURN. ALSO MY SISTER WAS IN THEVEHICLE WIT ME HER AIR GOT BURN ALSO. THANK YOU

WHEN STARTING VEHICLE IT WILL NOT TURN OVER. IT CONTINUES TO CRANK UNTIL IGNITION IS SWITCHED OFF. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME AND IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE. TYPICALLY AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE WILL START UP CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS IN THE COLD AND IN THE HEAT, AFTER RUNNING FINE ALL DAY OR SITTING TURNED OFF OVER NIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK FAILED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BECAUSE IT WAS USED AS FOR POSTAL DELIVERIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILED. ROANOKE MOTOR COMPANY WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AT (309) 923-7171 AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 195,000.
2008 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED IS UNLOCKING ON ITS OWN WHICH IS CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD. MY SON REMOVED THE FUSE, THE DOOR HAS TO BE LOCKED MANUALLY. THE ONLY DOOR THAT DOES NOT LOCK IS THE REAR TAILGATE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN THE YARD, AT WORK, PARKING LOTS AT THE MOVIES, THE MALLS, ETC. AND WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE IT IS UNLOCKED. PLEASE ADVISE YOUR REMEDY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE SAFE AND LOCKED AT ALL TIMES.
THE SEATBELTS HAVE A TRICK I HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE DRIVERS SEATBELT TO GET IT TO CLICK. THE BREAKS HAVE ALWAYS SQUEAKED AND NOT STOPPED CORRECTLY THE SUSPENSION FEELS OFF. THE WHEEL TURNS TO THE LEFT. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE AIRBAGS BECAUSE I HAVE YET TO GET INTO A WRECK. THE WHEEL TURNED TO THE LEFT STARING UP MY CAR AFTER GETTING GAS CAUSING ME TO SMASH IN MY PASSENGER DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. PROBLEMS UPON PROBLEMS SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE FROM FOUR SEASONS AUTO IN ST.GEORGE UTAH. BUSY NOW HAS DAMAGE THE ENGINE GETS HOT AND SMELLY. SNOW WILL LITERALLY BLOW THROUGH MY DEFROST VENTS AND HIT ME IN THE FACE WITH MISTS OF SNOW.
