Had the car for too years and just now all of a sudden air bag keeps coming on and off in the Red.
snapped rear control arm. I own this vehicle in a salt state. no issues prior, it literally rusted and snapped with myself and my 5 year old in the car, causing me to lose control and almost crash.
Fuel Spit Back During Refueling. When refueling at any gas pump, flammable fuel almost always spits back out of the filler hose, down the side of the vehicle and pools on ground by the tire. There has been a recall issued for the same issue and same vehicle model: Jeep Liberty KK, which runs from 2008-12. However, the recall only covers year 2008.
While driving I heard a popping sound and felt the vehicle sway slightly. The vehicle continued to making intermittent banging noises towards the rear passenger side. Upon stopping and investigating I found the rear control arm had failed on the passenger side. I also examined the driver side rear control arm. It was intact but has significant rust, which likely contributed to the passenger side failure, as it also has significant rust. Car has been parked since the incident. I would like to know if the manufacturer/dealer will replace both components free of charge. There was a safety bulletin for the same issue for the 2004-2007 model year of the vehicle (18V-278). A search on the internet found the same failures in my model year for the lower control arms.
The Rear suspension lower control arms were rusted and cracked to the point they were close to breaking into pieces. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms that alerted us to this problem - we happened to look under the car one day and noticed this. This problem was inspected, confirmed, and repaired by a local mechanic and reported to Jeep via their customer service. I am aware that this particular part caused a recall for the 2007 Jeep Liberty (and I'm guessing this is correlated with similar recalls in other manufacturers, e.g. the 2007-2011 Honda CRVs were recalled due to corrosion in the lower frame due to de-icing agents).
I'm the original owner of a 2009 Jeep Liberty with a Skyslider roof that I barely used. I was driving when the Sky Slider roof suddenly blew open and back, snapping the cables and launching pieces of parts like missiles. It was a terrifying experience for me and my young children. I have dealt with the very loud wind noise for the past 12 years after having it evaluated several times by dealerships and being told there was nothing that could be done about it. It can be even more overwhelming for children with Autism and/or sensory issues. Fortunately, I was able to avoid an on-road accident, but still was hit with those projectile pieces and now have the added financial component of having to pay for repairs on a vehicle that the dealership has said most of the replacement parts have been discontinued on. The internet is full of complaints regarding these Sky Slider roof life-threatening issues. Something needs to be done to protect consumers from the physical and financial harm of these vehicles.
The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, he heard abnormal banging sounds coming from the rear of the vehicle and the vehicle was shuddering violently. The contact veered to the side of the road and exited the vehicle to determine the cause of the failure. The contact noticed that the rear tires had moved forward and were close to the wheel well. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that all four rear control arms were fractured. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V278000 (Suspension). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
I HAVE JUDT BROUGHT MY JEEP IN MAY IT IS OCT AND I AM HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. PLEASE CAN YOU ASSIST IF THIS IS A RECALL
CAR TURNS OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN MOTION. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO SHOW A PROBLEM... CAR HAS TURNED OFF ON HIGHWAY AND WHILE MAKING TURNS. HAVE TO PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK AND START CAR AGAIN TO WORK. LIGHTS AND RADIO ALL STAY ON.
THE SKY ROOF HAS BROKEN A 2ND TIME, AT LEAST SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. I JUST HAD IT REPLACED 2YRS AND 5 MONTHS AGO. JEEP STOPPED MAKING THE ROOF FRAME AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE IT. THERE ARE NO AFTER MARKET PARTS AVAILABLE. JEEP REFUSES TO HELP IN ANY WAY, AND I'M STILL PAYING FOR A CAR THAT I CANNOT DRIVE BECAUSE IT CANNOT E REPAIRED. YES, I WAS SITTING STILL. IT HAS TO BE IN PARK IN ORDER TO RETRACT OR CLOSE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR ROOF FRAME. IT BROKE IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT THAT IT BROKE IN 29 MONTHS AGO. THE WARRANTY ON IT WAS ONLY FOR 2 YEARS. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? HELP PLEASE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT VENTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING AND PREVENTED THE WINDOWS FROM DEFOGGING, ESPECIALLY DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A DIRECTIONAL FLAP THAT TURNED THE VENTS, INCLUDING ONE FOR THE HEAT, AIR CONDITIONER, AND DEFOGGERS. THE CONTACT BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM A PRIVATE PARTY AND HAD NOT CONTACTED A DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
CUSTOMER WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CABLE THAT HOLDS THE SPARE TIRE SNAPPED AND CAUSED THE SPARE TIRE TO FLY DOWN THE HIGHWAY, ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF OTHER DRIVERS.
I HAVE HAD LIGHT SENSORS ON MY DASH, ELECTRONIC STABILITY, SLIPPERY ROAD. SERVICE 4WD, AND MISFIRE #2 CYLINDER, AND SERVICE ABS. I TOOK IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS THEY SAY THE HEAD GASKET IS BLOWN, OR IT HAS A CRACKED HEAD ALLOWING ANTIFREEZE IN THE #2 CYLINDER. THE LIGHTS COME ON A COUPLE AT A TIME, WHEN DRIVING, AND THEN GO FF EITHER WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF, OR A DAY OR TWO LATER.
THE SKY SLIDER PANORAMIC ROOF HAS SOME BROKEN INTERNAL PARTS AND WON'T FULLY CLOSE CAUSING LEAKING WATER AND LOUD WIND NOISE. ROANOKE JEEP DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T GET REPLACEMENT PARTS AND THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX. I HAVE VISITED 4 OTHER SHOPS AND THE ONLY SOLUTION OFFERED IS TO REMOVE THE PANORAMIC ROOF AND REPLACE WITH FULL METAL ROOF WITH A COST OF $5000. I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR A 10 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND I'M STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS GOING TO LEAK EVERY TIME IT RAINS.
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 4000RPM. THANKFULLY, DUE TO QUICK THINKING, I GOT ON THE BRAKES, PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG. THANK GOD I DIDN'T MOW DOWN THE 4 PEOPLE WALKING IN FRONT OF ME. A QUICK SEARCH OF THE INTERNET REVEALS THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS. HOW IN THE WORLD HAS THIS ISSUE NOT BEEN A RECALL??!!
OUT OF THE BLUE WHILE DRIVING THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED - I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT RESET - IT WORKED FOR A BIT THEN CAME BACK ON: THE MECHANIC ADVICES THAT THE SENSOR LIKELY WENT BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

THE SKY SLIDER TRACK WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
SKY VIEW ROOF FAILURES AND OPENED ABOUT A FOOT ON ITS OWN WHEN DRIVING ONA BACK ROAD ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR. THEN GOT STUCK. JUST BOUGHT IT 9 MONTHS AGO AND THERE'S NOTHING PROTECTING CONSUMERS FROM A SAFETY AND MONEY TRAP LIKE THIS.
FUEL SPILLS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WHEN FILLING THE TANK. FILLER NECK IS LOOSE AND WOBBLY SEVERAL TSB'S OUTLINE THIS ISSUE BUT ACCORDING TO FCA CUSTOMER CARE, MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS BASED ON THE VIN. ROLLOVER VALVE INSIDE FUEL TANK IS MOST LIKELY STUCK AND COULD CAUSE FUEL SPILLAGE, DEATH AND DESTRUCTION IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT.
AIR BAG COVER IS VERY STICKY AND FEELS LIKE IT STAYS THIS WAY NO MATTER HOW MUCH I WIPE IT DOWN.
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK (I'M IN THE MILITARY) AND DRIVING ABOUT 65 WHEN THE SKY SLIDER POPPED UP AND FLEW BACK. I SWERVED BECAUSE IT SCARED ME, I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS FAST AS I COULD, SCARED THE CAR BEHIND ME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD FIX IT BUT IT WOULD COST 4400. I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO FILE A CLAIM AND THE ADJUSTER DENIED IT BECAUSE HE STATED THAT IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT AND THEY DON'T COVER THAT. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE A RECALL, THIS COULD HAVE ENDED WORSE IF TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IN ORDER FOR ME TO GET IT TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT I HAD TO TAPE IT DOWN (DUE TO WEATHER) AND I HAD TO USE TOW STRAPS TO KEEP THE SKY LINER FROM POPPING UP WHILE DRIVING. THIS REALLY MAKES ME MAD, I USED MY DEPLOYMENT MONEY TO BUY THIS VEHICLE AND I FEEL LIKE I WASTED ALL MY HARD EARNED MONEY FOR THIS PIECE OF JUNK. I WILL NEVER BUY A JEEP PRODUCT IN MY LIFE AGAIN, MATTER OF FACT I HAVE TURNED TO SOCIAL MEDIA TO WORN EVERYONE ABOUT THIS.

JEEP LIBERTY AIR BAG RECALL. MY AIR BAG ALERT IN DASH ON MY 2009 JEEP LIBERTY CAME ON YESTERDAY. I LEARNED THERE IS A JEEP AIR BAG RECALL AND NEED INFORMATION ON WHERE TO TAKE IT TO GET IT REPAIRED BEFORE I HAVE A CRASH IS IT DEPLOYS.
ON FRIDAY, 07.07.2017, AS I WAS DRIVING INTO A TURN LANE FROM THE HWY, I HAD SLOWED WAY DOWN FOR TRAFFIC THEN PICKED UP SPEED SLIGHTLY, NOT EVEN 10 MPH, TO FOLLOW CARS IN THE TURN LANE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR BECAME SLUGGISH AND THE JEEP CAME TO A STOP. AS I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN THERE WAS A VERY LOUD POP FROM UNDER THE HOOD. EVERYTHING QUIT, THE ENGINE, THE ELECTRIC, THE STARTER WOULD NOT TURN OVER WHEN I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN OR THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS. JUST BEFORE THIS HAPPENED THE ENGINE LIGHT AND, WHAT I FOUND OUT LATER, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS CONFUSED AT WHAT JUST HAPPENED. THINKING WHAT I SAW NEXT WAS STEAM COMING FROM UNDER THE JEEP WAS STEAM I POPPED THE HOOD TO GO LOOK. THERE WAS TRAFFIC ALL AROUND ON THE HWY. ONCE I OPENED THE HOOD I FOUND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ON FIRE, BACK AGAINST THE FIREWALL BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE STEERING COLUMN, BEHIND THE BATTERY. THE FIRE GOT BIGGER ONCE THE HOOD WAS OPEN, IT SPREAD VERY FAST. PEOPLE IN OTHER CARS WERE YELLING AND A GUY STOPPED TO HELP ME AND TOLD ME TO GET AWAY FROM THE JEEP BECAUSE IT WAS GAS THAT WAS BURNING. THE FIRE DEPT WAS CALLED YET BY THE TIME THEY GOT THERE THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE JEEP WAS DESTROYED.
SKYSLIDER FLEW BACK WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD COST 4,000$ TO FIX, BUT THEY CAN'T FIX IT REGARDLESS. I BOUGHT THIS JEEP BRAND NEW FOR 35,000$ 40,000$ AFTER INTEREST. ILL NEVER IN MY LIFE BUY A JEEP AGAIN THE HASSLE THIS HAS PUT ME THROUGH. ESPECIALLY THE DANGER ITS CAUSED. ALMOST KILLING MY CHILDREN & ME.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AND AUDIBLE ALERT ARE ON CONTINUOUSLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND IN MOTION. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP, A SCAN OF THE SYSTEM WAS PERFORMED AND THE INDICATION IS THAT THE AIRBAG SPRING AND AIRBAG HAVE MALFUNCTIONED.
GAS ALWAYS BACK FLOWS OUT THE GAS TANK TO MATTER HOW STRONG FILLING?GAS RUNS DOWN THE FENDER AND INTO THE FENDER WALLS AND STINKS FOR DAYS
WHILE STATIONARY SUNROOF LEAKS WATER CAUSING ROOF DAMAGE AND APPEARS BY RUST FROM THE OUTSIDE DUE TO WATER SETTLING. LEAKING SUNROOF ALSO DAMAGED MOTOR OF DRIVER SIDE WINDOW.

THE DEALER (SAM LEMAN DODGE, CHRYSLER, JEEP, RAM, 1801 W PIONEER PKWY, PEORIA, IL 61615) OBSERVED THAT THE FUEL SPEWED OUT WHILE FILLING THE TANK AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,556.
*SAFETY* MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2009 JEEP LIBERTY WHEN IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, NO BRAKES, AND NO POWER. SHE WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WITH TRAFFIC COMING ON HER RIGHT. WIFE AND 6 YEAR OLD SON WERE IN THE JEEP. SHE FELT LIKE HER LIFE WAS THREATENED! COME TO FIND OUT CHRYSLER HAS A WELL KNOWN TIPM ISSUE. THE JEEP ONLY HAS 63,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.

THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WAS FAILING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

PROBLEMS WITH THE TIPM. FIRST TO GO WAS THE DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM, IT WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. NEXT, THE AC/DC CURRENT OUTLET IS NO LONGER OPERATIONAL. NOW, THE WASHER FLUID WILL NOT OPERATE, AND YES, ITS FULL. CONCERN OVER WHAT'S NEXT TO GO. RESEARCH SHOWS ISSUES WITH CHRYSLER'S TIPM SYSTEM IS MULTIPLE VEHICLES, SOME RECALLS, THOUGH NOT MINE, SOME LAWSUITS.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING ON THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLES INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE REMOTE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE STARTED. THE CONTACT UNLOCKED THE VEHICLE AND SHUT IT OFF. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE REMOTE FOR AN AUTO START FUNCTION; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
2009 JEEP LIBERTY WITH THE "SKYSLIDER" ROOF (RETRACTABLE). WHILE INCREASING VEHICLE SPEED ON A HIGHWAY ROAD, ONE OF THE FOUR (4) ARMS THAT SECURES THE ROOF TO THE TOP OF THE CAR, SHEERED. THE INCIDENT CAUSES THE ROOF TO COLLAPSE. FEARING FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHER DRIVERS NEARBY, I SLOWED MY VEHICLE TO 60 MPH. WHEN IT WAS SAFE FOR ME TO DO SO, I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTING THE ROOF, I CONCLUDED THAT THE BREAKAGE WAS LINKED TO AN ARM/LEVER, WHOSE COMPOSITION IS MAINLY CASTED ALUMINUM. THE VEHICLE WAS EVENTUALLY TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP. WHILE AT THE REPAIR SHOP, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING WITH THE SKYSLIDER ROOF AND THEY WERE SURPRISED TO SEE THAT CHRYSLER HAS YET TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL FOR THESE PARTICULAR MODELS. THE REPAIR FOR THIS ROOF WILL COST GREATER THAN $2,500. *TR
I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE SKYSLIDER ROOF AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I ATTEMPTED IT A FEW TIMES, THEN STOPPED FOR FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO CLOSE IT IF IT DID ACTUALLY OPEN. I STARTED RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND I HAVE FOUND THAT CHRYSLER IS WELL AWARE OF THE DEFECT WITH EVERY MODEL OF JEEP THAT HAS THE SKYSLIDER OPTION. NOT ONLY DO THEY NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR DEFECT AND ISSUE RECALLS FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS, BUT THEY CHARGE THOUSANDS TO FIX A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. I BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND NEED TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC JUST TO BE TOLD IT WON'T BE COVERED. SCAM. I'M NONE TOO PLEASED. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT NEEDS TO HAPPEN.
THE ROOF AND COOLANT RESERVOIR ARE LEAKING. ON JULY 30, 2015, I BROUGHT MY 2009 JEEP LIBERTY TO PHILLIPS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE FOR REPAIRS. PER TEST RESULTS, THE SUN ROOF DRAINS WERE CLOGGED; HOWEVER, NO LEAKS WERE DETECTED IN THE COOLANT RESERVOIR. I AM CONTINUOUSLY FILLING THE RESERVOIR WITH COOLANT WHICH CONTINUES TO LEAK FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR. THE ROOF CONTINUES TO LEAK, BUT THE LEAK IS NOW IN THE HATCH AREA. ALSO, THE LOCKS ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL SOMETIMES NOT UNLOCK WHEN I USED THE HANDLE. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED AT PHILLIPS ON AUGUST 26, 2015.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE PINS WERE FRACTURED AND THE SLIDER ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,968.
I'VE NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS HAVING AN ISSUING ACCELERATING LATELY. I WENT FOR MY ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THE FUEL PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACE AND IT WOULD BE THE REASON FOR THE ISSUE WITH ACCELERATING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT IS REALLY COMMON WITH THE JEEPS AND UNFORTUNATELY THE PART IS NOT EXPENSIVE BUT THE LABOR IS BECAUSE THEY NEED TO REMOVE THE ENGINE TO REPLACE IT. IF IT IS AS COMMON AS A PROBLEM AS THE MECHANIC STATES, WHY IS THERE NO RECALL? I SEE THERE IS A RECALL ON JEEP LIBERTIES FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE FOR 2002-2007. COULD THERE STILL POSSIBLY BE THIS ISSUE IN THE 2009 MODELS AS WELL?
WHEN DRIVING MY CAR STARTED LEANING TO THE LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAVEN'T HIT ANYTHING OR BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT. ANYTIME I AM AT A 25+ SPEED IT IS MORE NOTICEABLE, AND VERY MUCH SO ON THE HIGHWAY. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT REQUESTED TO HAVE ALL FOUR TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,683. UPDATED 7/1/15*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE TIRE VALVES WERE REPLACED, DUE TO ALUMINUM CASINGS BEING CRACKED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEATER CORE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE SUNROOF IS THE WHOLE ROOF. VEHICLES WERE ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH DEFECTIVE LEAKING SUNROOFS THAT CHRYSLER KNEW WERE DEFECTIVE. NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. CHRYSLER HAS A LAWSUIT FILED FOR THIS ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE THIS ISSUE TO BE FIXED BY CHRYSLER AND MY INSIDE ROOF REPLACED FROM WATER SPOTS FROM THE LEAKING AS WELL AS THE MOTOR THAT WORKS THE SUNROOF. OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES SHOULD NOT BE PENALIZED AND HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR AND REPLACE WHEN CHRYSLER KNOWS THIS IS A BIG ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THIS USED VEHICLE, UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND I AM NOW STUCK WITH IT AND HAVING TO PAY FOR A LOAN ON IT. IT WAS NOT DISCLOSED FROM HE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP.
I AM WRITING TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AFTER THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN 2009 JEEP LIBERTY BEGAN TO GIVE ME PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEMS ARE AS FOLLOWS: BRAKE LIGHTS GOING OUT MULTIPLE TIMES IN A 1-2 YEAR PERIOD, THE RADIO AND HEAT CUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING ON THEIR OWN MULTIPLE TIMES IN A SHORT 30 MINUTE DRIVE, WHILE THE HEAT AND RADIO ARE CUT OUT THE WIPERS AND TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK WHICH IS A BIT TROUBLESOME LIVING IN NEW ENGLAND WITH THE RAIN AND SNOW SINCE I CANNOT RELY UPON MY CAR TO WORK PROPERLY OR SAFELY. JEEP CLAIMS THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR BUT A SECOND OPINION WITH ANOTHER MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A COMMONLY KNOWN PROBLEM WITH JEEP AND THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE THE VEHICLES ARE NOT SAFE. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS PEOPLE ONLINE AT COMPLAINTS.COM OR EDMUNDS.COM WHO ARE SAYING THE SAME THINGS THAT I AM SAYING SO IT IS DEFINITELY NOT A ONE TIME THING WITH JUST MY CAR. I JUST WANTED TO ALERT YOU TO THE SITUATION BECAUSE PEOPLE DRIVING IN CARS WITH FAULTY ELECTRIC SYSTEMS BECAUSE THE PARENT COMPANY DOESN'T WANT TO REPLACE THE ISSUE IS PUTTING THE GENERAL PUBLIC AT RISK GIVEN THE NUMBER OF JEEPS CURRENTLY ON THE ROAD. I PERSONALLY FEEL UNSAFE IN THIS CAR AND JEEP WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO ASSIST IN THAT MATTER LIKE PUT ME IN A NEWER CAR FOR THE SAME PAYMENT PER MONTH OR FIX THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AT THEIR EXPENSE INSTEAD OF MINE AS I HAVE ALREADY SPENT WELL OVER $1000 IN A MONTH AND HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR FOR A LEAST 2 WEEKS TIME. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE RUMBLES WHEN IN MOTION FEELS LIKE YOUR DRIVING ON A FLAT TIRE - BUT THE TIRES ARE FINE. THIS CAUSE ME TO SLOW DOWN 10 OF SPEED BEFORE STOPPING OR THE CAR WOMBLES MORE.
REAR WINDOW HINGE HAS CORRODED OUT AND NO LONGER HOLDING WINDOW. WINDOW ONLY HELD ON BY REMAINING HINGE AND LATCH. DEALER/CHRYSLER WILL NOT COVER REPAIR OR DO RECALL EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.
