IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST 2013- SUPER HOT OUTSIDE AND MY CAR STARTED LEAKING ANTIFREEZE ALL OVER THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. THE AC STOPPED WORKING! TURNS OUT THE HEATER CORE HAD TO BE REPLACED. COST OVER $800. THEN IN DECEMBER OF 2014 - I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE HEAT. THE DEFROST STOPPED WORKING AND THE WINDOWS WOULD GET FOGGED UP. AND THEN THAT SMELL STARTED- ANYONE WHO HAS HAD THEIR HEATER CORE REPLACED KNOWS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER-COST 900. (TOTAL COST $1300.)THIS JEEP HAS BEEN THE WORST PURCHASE OF MY LIFE. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL CARS AND I CAN NOT BELIEVE HOW MANY THINGS HAVE GONE WRONG WITH THIS CAR. RIGHT NOW- ITS AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN- NOW FOR DIFFERENTIAL GEARS $1100 (TOTAL COST 1575.00 INCLUDES FRONT WHEEL BEARING) MY CAR ONLY HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT. BE WARNED- DO NOT BUY JEEP LIBERTY.
GAS POURS OUT OF TANK AFTER AUTO SHUT-OFF. EVERY PLACE. EVERY TIME,SO IT IS NOT THE GAS PUMP'S PROBLEM. AFTER READING ALL THESE REVIEWS, THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM HERE. *JS
WHILE REFUELING, THE TANK WILL OVERFLOW AND BUBBLE OVER ONTO MY PAINT AND THE GROUND EVERY TIME I FILL UP. IT'S ROUGHLY A CUP OF FUEL EACH TIME. THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM FOR ME AND SAFETY HAZARD. I'M PRETTY SURE OVERFLOWING GASOLINE ISN'T GOOD, AND IT IS DAMAGING TO THE PRODUCT (PAINT) AS WELL; THIS ISSUE IS A GROWING THEME WITH CHRYSLER VEHICLES AND ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES NEED A SERVICE BULLETIN POSTED FOR A SOLUTION. *TR
FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS EVERYTIME I FILL MY FUEL TANK IT OVERFLOWS DRAMATICALLY. WHILE FILLING THE TANK I ALWAYS FOLLOW THE PRESCRIBED SAFETY MEASURES - I DO NOT PUT ANYTHING UNDER THE HANDLE THAT MECHANICALLY HOLDS THE NOZZLE OPEN, I DO NOT TRY TO FILL THE TANK TO THE VERY BRIM AND I PLACE THE NOZZLE BELLOWS DIRECTLY ON THE FILL TUBE. DESPITE THIS THE TANK CONSISTENTLY OVERFLOWS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. MOST OF THE TIME THE INSTANT THE NOZZLE BELLOWS IS SEPARATED FROM THE FILL TUBE (AFTER THE NOZZLE CLICKS SIGNALING THE TANK IS AT THE SAFE FILL POINT) THE GAS "BURPS" OUT A DISTANCE OF UP TO A FOOT WHICH INITIALLY LANDED ON ME. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY CONCERN TO THE INDIVIDUAL PUMPING GAS AS WELL AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN. THE JEEP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT A NEW GAS TANK IS REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE FILL TUBE CHECK VALVE WHICH HE INFORMED ME IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE TANK. I RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I FOUND THAT FOR SEVERAL YEARS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME PEOPLE EVEN PUT A VIDEO OF THIS HAPPENING ON YOUTUBE. *TR
WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE THE PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL CAUSING FUEL TO SPILL OUT ONTO THE VEHICLE, THE GROUND AND THE SHOES OF THE PERSON PUMPING GAS. THE PROBLEM IS WORSE DURING COLD WEATHER. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN EARLY 2013 FOR MY DAUGHTER. EVER SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED WE HAVE NOTED THE FOLLOWING: WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK WITH THE GAS NOZZLE SET TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AS SOON AS THE TANK IS FULL THERE IS ALWAYS A FAIRLY LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS THAT SPLASHES BACK AND OUT ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS OCCURS JUST AS THE TANK IS COMPLETELY FILL UP AND THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF. IT IS ENOUGH GAS THAT IT CAN BE SEEN ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON THE GROUND. THIS OBVIOUSLY PRESENTS A POTENTIAL HAZARD FOR FIRE AND IS VERY UNSETTLING. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE IN MANY JEEP MODELS (INCLUDING THE 2010 LIBERTY'S, BUT ALSO OTHER JEEP MODELS) DATING BACK TO AT LEAST THE MID-2000'S AND THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND COVERAGE FOR THIS TO BE REPAIRED (USUALLY INVOLVING A NEW GAS TANK) FOR MANY JEEP MODELS, BUT MY PARTICULAR MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL PER CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR WAS NOTICED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (NYLE MAXWELL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF AUSTIN, 13401 RANCH RD 620 N, AUSTIN, TX 78717, (512) 518-1097) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE O2 SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SIX TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND 02 SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 35221828. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,355. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO THREE ADDITIONAL VEHICLES. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000. ..UPDATED 01/30/13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TRADED IN TO THE DEALER. UPDATED 2/4/2013 *JS
WHEN FILLING UP WITH GAS AND TANK IS FUEL THE NOZZLE STOPS AND THEN GAS BUBBLES OUT THE FUEL TANK AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I EVEN TRY GOING SLOW BUT AS SOON AND IT GETS FULL SOME FUEL COMES OUT. I TOOK THIS TO DON MILLER DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM SERVICE CENTER IN MADISON, WI AND THEY INFORMED THAT THE ROLLOVER VALVE IS NOT WORKING AND I WOULD NEED THE WHOLE FUEL TANK REPLACED. I KNOW FROM RESEARCH ONLINE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IN THE CHANCE OF A ROLLOVER THIS KEEPS FUELS FROM SPILLING OUT OF THE GAS TANK THAT MAY CAUSE A FIRE. I HAVE ALSO SEEN OTHER RECALLS FOR OTHER CHRYSLER MAKES AND MODELS INCLUDING OTHER JEEP MODELS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AND WONDER IF THE JEEP LIBERTY'S SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS WELL. THANK YOU *TR
REFUELING THE VEHICLE CAUSES GASOLINE TO OVERFLOW FROM THE FILLER TUBE AND RUN DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR ONTO THE GROUND. APPROX10-12 OZ. OF FUEL WILL SPILL OUT EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED UP AT ANY GAS STATION. THERE APPEARS TO BE A VENTING ISSUE WITH JEEP GAS TANKS. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH RETURNS MANY RESULTS OF THIS ISSUE, MOST COMMONLY KNOWN AS 'GAS TANK BURPING'. IT AFFECTS DIFFERENT JEEP MODELS. CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ARE UNWILLING TO HELP ME BECAUSE I AM OUT OF THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY PERIOD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, FUEL SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
WAS PUTTING GAS INTO JEEP AS I HAVE ALWAYS DONE, AND THIS TIME AFTER THE PUMP SHUT OFF, GAS CAME PUKING OUT OF THE TANK DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME, BUT LOOKING ON THE INTERNET THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. YOU WOULD THINK JEEP WOULD RECALL THIS!!!! *TR
LOW PSI INDICATOR ON SPARE WAS ON SO I LOWERED THE SPARE TIRE TO PUT AIR IN IT AND I NOTICED THE VALVE STEM WAS BROKE OFF AT THE TOP. AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER ON THEIR VALVE STEMS. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME ON ALL WHEELS NOT JUST THE SPARE. THE COST TO FIX IS AROUND $100 A TIRE!!! IN TILL CHRYSLER FIXES THEIR CHEAP VALVE STEM SENSOR SYSTEM I WILL PUT IN THE OLD FASHION RUBBER VALVE STEMS AND JUST PUT UP WITH THE DASH LIGHTS!!!! *TR
WENT FOR MY NORMAL OIL CHANGE AND ROTATE TIRES AT THE DEALER. THE SERVICE WRITER CAME OUT TO INFORM ME I NEED REAR BRAKES AS THEY HAVE WORN DOWN AND THE ROTOR NEEDS TO BE TURNED AS IT IS OUT OF ROUND. I TOLD THEM HOW COULD THE REAR BE OUT IN 12600 MILES AND THE FRONT BRAKES ARE GOOD. IF THEY ARE THAT WORN WHY IS THERE NO WARNING TO LET ME KNOW AS IT IS UNSAFE AND I COULD HAVE BRAKE FAILURE. THEY TOLD ME MANY CHRYSLER VANS AS WELL AS SOME 2009 AND 2010 HAVE A DEFECT IN THE BRAKES THAT CAUSE THEM TO FAIL WAY SOONER THEN THEY SHOULD. I PAID ALMOST $400 FOR THE BACK BRAKES TO BE DONE AND CALLED CHRYSLER CORP AND MADE A CASE. THEY AGREED THAT IT SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AT THAT LOW MILEAGE AND OTHERS HAVE DONE ALSO. I AM GOING TO GET A TOTAL REFUND FOR WHAT I SPEND AFTER MANY CALLS TO GET IT PAID BY THEM AS I FEEL IT IS A UNSAFE CONDITION THAT MANY OTHER PRODUCTS THEY MAKE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AND WHY I SHOULD PAID FOR A DEFECT IN THEIR BRAKE SYSTEMS. I ASKED IN THE NEXT 12000 MILES IF THEY WEAR OUT AGAIN WILL THEY REPAIR THE PROBLEM AGAIN AND SHE SAID NO. IT IS NOT FAIR OR SAFE TO HAVE A JEEP THAT WILL KEEP HAVING THE REAR BRAKES WEAR OUT WAY BEFORE TIME AND A UNSAFE CONDITION TOO. I CALLED A FEW BARKS ROTOR MFG. COMPANIES AND THEY TOLD ME ALSO THEY HAVE A MAJOR DEFECT IN THEIR BRAKE SYSTEMS AS THE WEIGHT OF THEM AS CERTAIN JEEPS AND VANS IS WAY TOO MUCH FOR THE BRAKE SYSTEM THEY HAVE ON THE REARS AND FRONTS. I ALSO SEE CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS AGAINST THEM ON THIS BRAKES WEAR OUT PROBLEMS ON 2009 AND 2010 VANS THAT ARE IN A DODGE JOURNEY BULLETIN WB-D-11-07 AND IT IS THE SAME AS MY DEFECT BUT THEY SAID IT DOES NOT COVER THE JEEP LIBERTY BUT WILL REFUND MY MONEY ONCE FOR THE COST I PAID. I AM NOW AFRAID MY BRAKES WILL FAIL AND CAUSE A ACCIDENT. THEY DON`T SEEM TO CARE TO GO ANY FURTHER OTHER THEN PAY ME BACK MY MONEY FOR THE FAILED BRAKES IN THE REAR ONE TIME ONLY.... *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
UPON ACCELERATION IN THE 40MPH RANGE, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT, AND REVS HIGHER AS IF THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS IN DRIVE, BUT THE CAR SPEED DOES NOT INCREASE. THE TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO "SLIP", AND DOES NOT ENGAGE THE NEXT GEAR. THE ENGINE RACES BEFORE THE NEXT GEAR ENGAGES. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED ON AND OFF SINCE 3,000 MILES. WILL CONTACT DEALER THIS WEEK. *TR
THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME YOU FILL IT UP WITH GAS. NO MATTER WHO FILLS IT UP OR WHAT GAS STATION I GO TO, WHEN THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF THE GAS IS SPILLING OUT OF THE TANK. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE HAD TO REMOVE GAS FROM MY VEHICLE AND MY CLOTHING AND BODY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. *TR
THE BACK REAR BRAKE LIGHT HAS BEEN OUT, I REPLACED THE BULB AND ALSO HAD THE WIRING CHECKED, CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG, THEN I NOTICED ON SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES LIKE MINE EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT BACK BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ALSO OUT. THE OTHER VEHICLES APPEARED TO BE A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO PERFORMED AN INSPECTION AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE FUEL FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES TO AVOID A CRASH BUT THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A BLACK EYE, A SWOLLEN NOSE AND A BRUISED RIGHT ARM DUE FROM THE IMPACT OF THE AIR BAG WHEN IT DEPLOYED. THE AMBULANCE REPORTED TO THE SCENE BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE POLICE REPORTED TO THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,292. UPDATED 04/19/12*LJ

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AS THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO STOP THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER AND POWERED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ACCELERATOR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE YEAR LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
THE NOIL FILTER IS IN A BAD PLACE THAT CAUSES OIL TO COLLECT IN ALL AREAS OF THE ENGINE AND SKID PLATES THAT CAUSE EXCESS DRIPS ON MY GARAGE FLOOR. SMOKE ON THE HOT ENGINE PARTS AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE EACH TIME THE OIL FILTER IS CHANGED. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY REMIND THE DEALER TO COMPLETELY SPRAY AND DEGREASE THE UNDER AREAS AND SIDES OF THE ENGINE EACH TIME OR I HAVE TO RETURN NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT OIL LEAKS. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO CREATE OIL PROBLEMS BECAUSE OF THE FILTER LOCATION.... *TR
IT WAS LIGHT TO MEDIUM RAIN WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHERE TRAFFIC TOOK OFF AND HAD TO STOP SOON AFTER. AS SOON AS I HIT MY BRAKES THE ABS KICKED IN INCREASING THE STOPPING DISTANCE OF MY JEEP CAUSING ME TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. AT THE SAME TIME THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL BRAKE LIGHT AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME AND REMAINED LIT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD THIS WASN'T A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND TO BRING IT ON MONDAY (I CALLED FRIDAY MORNING). THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE BRAKE SWITCH AND THE TAIL LIGHT LAMP SWITCH. AS I WAS LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, LESS THAN A MILE AWAY, ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. THEY CORRECTED IT AGAIN, SO I PICKED IT UP AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN TWO DAYS LATER. IN THE MEAN TIME WHENEVER IT IS A MEDIUM RAIN OR ABOVE OR IT HAS BEEN RAINING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME THE ABS BRAKES PREMATURELY ACTIVATE. THE JEEP WAS INSPECTED BY CHRYSLER ENGINEERS WHO STATE IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, AND WILL NOT FIX THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. *TT
2010 JEEP LIBERTY SKY SLIDER LEAKING +UNSAFE ROOF+ LEAKING WATER INTO VEHICLE WETTING FLOOR AND SATURATING CARPETS CAUSING SLIPPERY FEET ON GAS AND BREAK PEDDLES. WATER ERODING ELECTRICAL PANEL WHERE THE SKYSLIDER POWER BUTTON IS..... VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHOCK. LEAKING SKYSLIDER FAILED REPAIRS AT ED VOYLES JEEP DEALERSHIP WITH OVER 75 SERVICE RECORDS OVER 4 REPLACED SKYSLIDER ATTEMPTS & HEADLINER REPLACED, I PAID FOR REPLACED CARPET DUE TO DETERIORATION AND SMELL. VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME WITH A SKYSLIDER FEATURE AND THIS SKYSLIDER FEATURE IS FLAWED DESIGN. I SENT DEALERSHIP THE VIDEO SHOWING HOW THE TOP "BURPS" WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED, SO THE TOP HAS NO SECURE LATCHING FEATURES TO HOLD IT INPLACE AND WHEN THE ELECTRICAL SHORTS OUT DO TO THE EXPOSURE TO WATER & THERE IS A PROBABLE CAUSE FOR THE TOP TO RIP RIGHT OFF THE TRACTS WHILE IN MOTION. PLEASE SEND SOMEONE TO INVESTIGATE THE REPAIRS ORDERS OF ALL JEEP LIBERTY THAT HAVE SKYSLIDERS. ON JULY 12 I BOUGHT A NEW 2010 JEEP LIBERTY, ON AUGUST 19 I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL (K15) MASTER CYLINDER BRAKE TUBE(S), FROM CUSTOMER SERVICES FIELD OPERATIONS, THE NOTICE STATES THAT THE WORK WILL TAKE ABOUT 1/2 HOUR TO COMPLETE . I CALL THE DEALER WERE I BOUGHT THE NEW CAR AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE RECALL, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE CONFRONTING AN UNUSUAL FLOW OF REPAIRS AND THAT FOR THIS REASON THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE ANY UNIT FOR REPAIR FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY INSPECTED THE TRANSMISSION AND COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. BRAND NEW 7 MONTH OLD CAR, BATTERY IS FINE, STARTED RIGHT BACK UP, JUST STALLED OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. NOT ON A INCLINE, CAR WAS FLAT, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, 68 DEGREES OUTSIDE, NOT HOT/OVERHEATING, NO GAUGE OR WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BEFORE OR AFTER IT DIED. NO AC WAS IN USE. ONLY THING BEING USED WAS VENT AND THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER TO POWER MY SON'S DVD PLAYER IN THE BACK SEAT. NO STEREO WAS ON EITHER. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWED IN JEEP FORUMS THAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEIR JEEPS STALLING OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. JEEP HAS GIVEN THEM NO EXPLANATION OR OFFER TO FIX. TAKING MINE IN ON MONDAY AM TO DEALER TO INQUIRE AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE POSSIBLE CAUSED THIS. EVERY TIME WHEN I FILL THE FUEL TANK, WHETHER I USE THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF OR NOT, FUEL BURPS/SPILLS FROM THE FUEL TANK INLET. OVER THE COURSE OF SIX YEARS, THERE HAS BEEN A LARGE WASTE OF FUEL AND MONEY. WITH THIS ISSUE, THE PAINT UNDER THE FUEL TANK INLET HAS BEGUN TO BUBBLE AND PEEL. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THIS VEHICLE ACTUALLY BELONGS TO MY WIFE, AND, WHENEVER SHE NEEDS FUEL, I AM THE ONE TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUE AS SHE IS AFRAID TO FILL IT. I HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE TECHNIQUES TO NO AVAIL. THERE ALSO HAS BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE RETURNED HOME REEKING OF UNLEADED FROM THE SPILLAGE ON MY SHOES AS WELL AS MY CLOTHING. MANY PAIRS OF SHOES HAVE BECOME UNWEARABLE BECAUSE OF THIS. I WOULD LOVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHALLENGE ANYONE TO FILL THIS TANK WITHOUT SPILLING, NOT JUST A FEW DROPS, BUT MANY, MANY, MANY DROPS EQUIVALENT TO CUPS. ALL WE AFFECTED JEEP OWNERS WANT IS ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY AND A SIMPLE REPAIR. THE PART SHOULD BE EXTREMELY CHEAP, AND I'M SURE MOST OWNERS WOULD INSTALL THE PART THEMSELVES. 2010 JEEP LIBERTY WITH ONLY 1,939 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHILE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE DRIVER WAS STRUCK IN THE HEAD WITH THE AIR BAG. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE DRIVER TO BECOME DISORIENTED AND DRIVE 200 MILES WITH NO MEMORY OF THE DRIVE AND EVENTS THAT OCCURRED IN A 4 HOUR TIME PERIOD. THE DRIVER REGAINED AWARENESS AFTER THE LOW FUEL WARNING CHIME STARTED TO RING. AT SOME POINT DURING THAT 4 HOUR DRIVE THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND REAR TIRES WENT OFF OF THE ROAD CAUSING A PIECE PLASTIC IN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WELL TO BREAK OFF. OTHER THAN THE BROKEN PIECE PLASTIC THE WAS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BODY OR SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT BASED ON THE PIECE OF BROKEN PLASTIC IN THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL. *TR
