LOWER ARM/BALL JOINT NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 19K MILES AND 26K MILES. NEW TIRE WORE OUT IN 7K MILES DUE TO POOR DESIGN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND CANADA REQUIRES JEEP TO REPLACE IT AT THEIR EXPENSE.
I JUST HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AND WAS TOLD THAT MY LOWER FRONT BALL JOINT HAS FAILED PREMATURELY. I NOTICED THAT THIS ISN'T AN ISOLATED PROBLEM, PLENTY OF JEEP OWNERS HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES. I'M JUST OUT OF MY WARRANTY, AND CHRYSLER JEEP WILL NOT IDENTIFY THIS AS A PROBLEM. *TR
TOOK MY 2007 JEEP PATRIOT IN FOR A OIL CHANGE, WAS TOLD THAT THE TIE ROD'S WERE VERY LOSE. THE MECHANIC DID NOT WANT ME TO DRIVE IT HOME FOR FEAR OF THE TIE RODS BREAKING LOSE AND CAUSING ME TO CRASH. MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND I DID NOT HAVE THE 700.00 TO FIX IT. FRONT BALL JOINT REPLACEMENT ON A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT WITH 26300 MILES. JEEP WAS NEVE OFF-ROAD. JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND FIGHTING WITH JEEP TO GET REIMBURSMENT. JUST COST ME $760.00 TO REPLACE BOTH BALL JOINTS. *TR
BALL JOINTS/CONTROL ARMS ON 07 JEEP PATRIOT ARE A SAFETY ISSUE. MY CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION BECAUSE THEY ARE FLAPPING IN THE BREEZE. I HAVE TO SOMEHOW COME UP WITH 1300.00 AT XMAS TIME FOR MY CAR TO PASS, AND I HAVE NO CLUE HOW. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. PROBLEM WAS ISOLATED ON A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. I HAD NOTICED HANDLING PROBLEMS COMING DOWN HILL AND APPLYING BRAKES EARLIER IN THE MONTH. DEALER SAYS BOTH FRONT TIE ROD ENDS ARE SHOT, AS WELL AS LOWER RIGHT BALL JOINT AND CONTROL ARM. THEY WANT $600 TO REPAIR IT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND IT CAN CAUSE RAPID TIRE WEAR, OR LOSS OF CONTROL. THE FAILURE IS APPARENTLY ENDEMIC WITH JEEP PATRIOTS, AS I HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS AS FREQUENT AS EVERY 12K MILES ON THE JEEP PATRIOT ONLINE FORUM. SOME OWNERS HAVE ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THEIR CAR. SOME OWNERS HAVE REPORTED MULTIPLE FAILURES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WHICH REQUIRED A TIE ROD OR CONTROL ARM, LET ALONE AT 32K MILES. THIS VEHICLE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A RUGGED OFF ROAD VEHICLE, AND I HAVE YET TO TAKE IT OFF THE ROAD. SO WHY DID IT FAIL SO SOON? IF THIS FAIURE OCCURS THIS FREQUENTLY, AND IF EACH OCCURENCE CARRIES A POTENTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL, WOULDN'T THAT BE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS, THE WIRING HARNESS INSULATORS WERE BEGINNING TO DISINTEGRATE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE WIRES WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. PREMATURE FAILURE OF TIE ROD ENDS ON 2007 JEEP PATRIOT. HAVE REPLACED TWO (2) OUTER AND ONE (1) INNER TIE ROD END IN 33,000 MILES OF PURELY ON ROAD USE. TIE ROD ENDS ARE NOT SERVICEABLE AND ARE INADEQUATE TO THE TASK. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS NOTED AT AN ANNUAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION AT LESS THAN 24000 MILES. *TR
AT AN OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTION IN EARLY DECEMBER 2010, THE JEEP DEALER TOLD ME MY FRONT TIE ROD ENDS AND CONTROL ARMS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS FINE. MY 2007 JEEP ONLY HAD 32K MILES ON IT, SO I FINALLY GOT THEM TO PAY PART OF THIS. TWO WEEKS LATER, WHILE I DROVE MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR THE REPAIRS, THE CAR STARTED "JACK HAMMERING". IT WAS AS IF THE BRAKES WERE BEING PULSED ON AND OFF HARD. (MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE PEDAL AND I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH) THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME NEXT DAY THAT MY FRONT BRAKES WERE FRIED AND LOADED WITH RUST, AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I PAID THEM FOR THE REPAIRS. A WEEK LATER, THE "PULSING" RECURRED, AND THEN A REAR BRAKE LOCKED UP. I HAD TO GET THOSE ROTORS, CALIPERS AND PADS REPLACED TOO. MY PROBLEMS CONTINUED. I HAD JEEP LOOK AGAIN. THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS INFREQUENT, BUT I CONTINUE TO HAVE A LESSER PULSING SENSATION AND A DRAGGING SENSATION, LIKE PUSHING A SHOPPING CART WITH A BAD WHEEL. TWO DAYS AGO, I TOOK MY CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP. THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT TOLD ME MY NEW TIRES (LESS THAN 5K MILES) HAVE ALREADY BEEN DAMAGED BY THIS BRAKE PROBLEM. THEY ALSO POINTED OUT HOW EXTREMELY RUSTY THE AXLES AND AXLE NUTS ARE. SO RUSTY, YOU CAN'T TELL THEY ARE NUTS. I AM DRIVING AROUND NOW WONDERING IF MY WHEELS AND HUBS WILL FLY OFF THE CAR AT ANY MINUTE BECAUSE THERE IS NO METAL LEFT TO HOLD THEM ON. WHY WOULD THESE PARTS RUST SO BADLY, AND SO QUICKLY? WHY WOULD THE DEALER PUT BRAND NEW ROTORS AND CALIPERS ON SUCH SEVERELY RUSTED AXLES AND NUTS WITHOUT TELLING ME? DON'T THEY CARE IF I'M SAFE? I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT FROM RESEARCHING THIS, THAT OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH PREMATURE FAILURES OF CONTROL ARMS, BRAKES, ETC. DUE TO RUST. I ALSO FOUND OUT T JEEP IS NOT (HAS NEVER) NOTIFIED ME OF RECALLS. AREN'T THEY REQUIRED TO DO THAT? THEN AGAIN, THEY SOLD ME A BRAND NEW CAR WITHOUT THE FEDERALLY MANDATED MULRONEY STICKER, AND LIED TO ME ABOUT THE MPG. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE DAMAGED AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS TO THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT, BOTH FRONT TIRES AND THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,345. 2007 JEEP PATRIOT. CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING PROBLEMS WITH CONTROL ARMS, BALL JOINTS AND SENSORS HAVING TO BE REPLACED. *TGW THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF METALS WERE USED AND WHEN PUT TOGETHER, IT CAUSED CORROSION. ALSO, ALL FOUR TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB
MY 2007 JEEP PATRIOT 4WD CLASSIC HAS BEEN STALLING OUT ON ME CONSTANTLY. SINCE I'VE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I HAVE EXPERIENCED UPWARDS OF 5 FULL STALL-OUTS AT STOP LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS AND UPWARDS OF 50 SURGE LIKE MOTIONS (FEELING LIKE IT'S CLOSE TO STALLING OUT ON ME) AT STOP LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. USUALLY ME AND MY PASSENGERS CAN FEEL IT AND AS SOON AS I GIVE IT SOME GAS THE SURGE STOPS AND EVERYTHING IS FINE OR THE VEHICLE STALLS COMPLETELY. JEEP LIBERTY WAS ALSO RECALLED DUE TO A SIMILAR PROBLEM. BALL JOINTS NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 43,000 NOW NEED NEW TIRES BECAUSE OF THE BALL JOINTS. FOUND OUT THAT NEED ENTIRE NEW CONTROL ARMS IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS. *TR
MY CAR WAS STILL HAVING A DELAYED START WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE ENGINE A MONTH AFTER TAKING IT INTO THE DEALER AND HAVING IT CHECKED. THERE WERE EVEN TIMES WHEN IT WOULD NOT START THE FIRST TIME. ONE DAY, LITERALLY ABOUT 0.5 MILES AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY, THE RPMS WENT UP AND DOWN CHAOTICALLY AND THE CAR BEGAN TO COME TO A STOP. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE. AND GOOD THING I WAS NO LONGER ON THE FREEWAY. MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID A WIRE TO THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AS WELL AS THE BATTERY. THEY REPLACED THE SOLENOID WIRE TO STARTER AND I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY. *TR

2007 JEEP PATRIOT WITH 26,000 MILES, PURCHASED NEW FROM DEALER. NOTICED TIRES WORN AND WENT TO MECHANIC TO REPLACE TWO FRONT TIRES. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS AND CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THEY WERE LOOSE ONLY AFTER 26,000 MILES OF LIGHT DRIVING, NEVER OFF ROAD. *TR
2007 JEEP PATRIOT - 58,000 MILES - NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD - HIGHWAY DRIVEN 90% HAVE TO COMPLETELY REPLACE FRONT COMPONENTS - BALL JOINTS / TIE RODS, ETC. REAR WHEEL BEARING NEEDS REPLACED TOLD BY MECHANIC WE WERE LUCKY WE DIDN'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT - THEY WERE THAT BAD. CAN'T BELIEVE JEEP HAS NOT BEEN FORCED TO RECALL AND FIX THIS TERRIBLE PROBLEM. *TR
THE CAR WAS SHIFTING HARD INTO GEAR, MORE LIKE A MANUAL, INSTEAD OF SMOOTHLY SHIFTING. SOMETIMES THERE WAS A DELAYED START WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE. THIS OCCURRED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE EXAMINED. THEY REPLACED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND FLASH PCM. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE OLD PART. *TR
2007 JEEP PATRIOT: WENT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AT DEALER, TOLD CONTROL ARMS BAD. ONLY AT 3 YEARS/ 51,000 MILES. ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH AIR CONDITIONING DRAINING BOILING WATER ON FEET. FILED COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER RE: THE WATER AND HAD FIXED FOR THE FOURTH TIME THIS SUMMER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND MOST RECENTLY, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINT WOULD ALSO NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECURRING FAILURE BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 55,000.
LOWER BALL JOINTS ON 2007 JEEP PATRIOT SHOT AT 45,000 MILES. ACCORDING TO THREE MECHANICS WHO SAW THE PROBLEM, THE PROBLEM IS SEVERE AND I'VE BEEN ADVISED TO EITHER NOT DRIVE THE CAR OR IMMEDIATELY REPAIR THE PROBLEM. EACH MECHANIC SAID THE BALL JOINTS SHOULD NOT GO AT 45,000 MILES AND NOTED SEVERAL ISSUES WITH CHRYSLER AND FAILED BALL JOINTS. WHILE ON A LIFT, ONE MECHANIC SHOWED ME HOW MY TWO FRONT TIRES CAN SIMPLY BE MOVED SIDE TO SIDE. THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN I WAS INFORMED. VERY DANGEROUS AS IT CAN CAUSE THE WHEEL TO FLY OFF THE CAR. I'VE BEEN HEARING NOISE AND FEELING TIRE SHAKES FOR AWHILE NOW. THOUGHT IT WAS MY BRAKES..WHICH BY THE WAY ALSO NEED REPLACING HOWEVER I AM BEING ADVISED TO SPEND MY MONEY FIRST ON THE BALL JOINTS SINCE IT IS AN IMMEDIATE MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. NOT FEELING VERY SAFE, ESPECIALLY WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR! *TR

2007 JEEP PATRIOT FWD - DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE THEY STATED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS SHOWING WEAR AND WOULD NEED REPLACED SOON. VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, NOT TAKEN "OFF ROADING" AND ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SEARCHED AND NOTED NUMEROUS OTHERS STATING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES WITH THE SAME EXACT MODEL. WHERE IS THE RECALL??? OF COURSE THE DEALER SAYS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 3 MONTHS. YOU ALSO CAN'T JUST REPLACE THE BALL JOINT YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE CONTROL ARM AS ITS AN ASSEMBLY - AND YOU HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH SIDES AT THE SAME TIME - HOLY MONEY PIT-! *TR

NORMAL, ROUTINE DRIVING WITH VEHICLE 41,000 MILES AND THE BALL JOINTS FAILED, ALONG WITH LOWER CONTROL ARMS. *TR
2007 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4 WITH ALMOST 37K MILES NEEDS NEW REAR BRAKES AND BALL JOINTS. REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $1,000. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN TAKEN OFF ROADING ALTHOUGH IT IS "TRAIL RATED" . BRAKES AND BALL JOINTS SHOULD NOT FAIL SO SOON AND THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY SUCH A HIGH REPAIR COST. JEEPPATRIOT.COM AND OTHER SITES HAVE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE WERE AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER AT THE WHEEL! *TR
IT BEGAN TO RAIN SO WE TURNED ON OUR WIPERS ONLY TO FIND THAT WE HAD NO WIPERS. THEY WILL TURN ON SOMETIMES, BUT ONLY ON THE HIGHEST SETTING, YET AT A LESS THAN MINIMAL SPEED. WE THOUGHT IT COULD BE A LOOSE CONNECTION OR SOMETHING SEEING AS OUR VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, BUT WHEN WE WENT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TO FIX IT THEFT SAID IT WAS THE WIPER COMPUTER MODULE AND WOULD COST NEARLY 1000 DOLLARS TO FIX. UNFORTUNATELY WE DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY AT THE TIME TO REPLACE IT. *TR
WENT TO GO GET MY JEEP INSPECTED, UPON INSPECTION MY VEHICLE HAD FAILED DUE TO THE TIRE BEING LOOSE AND THE OUTER TIE ROD NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. WENT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND HAD THE TIE ROD REPLACED. WENT BACK TO GET MY VEHICLE RE-INSPECTED AND AGAIN FAILED FOR THE SAME REASON. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BALL JOINT AND CONTROL ARM WAS BAD. BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE HAZARDOUS TO THE OWNERS DRIVING THEM. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT IF NOT KILLED WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION GIVES OUT. *TR
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, MY JEEP PATRIOT CUTS OFF EVERY TIME I GET GAS. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. THEY HAVE REPLACED MY FUEL PUMP AND AUXILIARY (I BELIEVE THATS WHAT ITS CALLED) AND I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IVE ALSO HAD MY THROTTLE BOTTLED CLEANED TWICE. OCCASIONALLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH CODE P0442 BUT GOES OFF AFTER A DAY OR TWO.IT'S BECOMING SUPER FRUSTRATED AND CLEARLY DANGEROUS TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH NO SOLUTION.
LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE ON BOTH SIDES OF MY 2007 JEEP PATRIOT AT 32K MILES.. ONLY 6 WEEKS OUT OF THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY. IT WAS NOT EVEN SAFE TO DRIVE. CHRYSLER WILL DO A GOOD WILL ASSISTANCE ON THIS $1,200 REPAIR BY CHARGING ME ONLY $250 SINCE IT WAS OFFICIALLY OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAD NO CHOICE AS THE CAR HAD TO BE REPAIRED. BUT IN MY OPINION, THEY ARE ADMITTING AN ISSUE OR THEY WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME NOTHING. THIS IS MY SECOND JEEP THAT HAS EXPERIENCED BALL JOINT FAILURE A VERY EARLY MILEAGE. MY OTHER JEEP, A LIBERTY, HAD A RECALL . CHRYSLER ADVISES THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THE PATRIOT FOR THIS ISSUE. SOMEONE SHOULD BE LOOKING AT THIS PROBLEM. IF THE BALL JOINTS FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY, A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. IT TOOK THEM FOREVER TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE LIBERTY BALL JOINT ISSUE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *TR

THIS VEHICLE IS MY DAUGHTERS AND WHEN WE TOOK IT IN TO HAVE NEW TIRES INSTALLED THEY DISCOVERED THE DEFECTS. IN APRIL 2010 MY DAUGHTER COMPLAINED OF A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHE WOULD HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. SHE CALLED ME AND I ASSURED HER THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE WITH ONLY 35000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. DURING THIS SAME TIME FRAME SHE TOOK THIS JEEP IN FOR A REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND AT BILLION MOTORS IN SIOUX FALLS,SD AND THEY TELL HER SHE HAS A BAD TIE ROD END. AGAIN I ASSURED HER THAT WITH ONLY 35000 MILES IT IS OKAY TO DRIVE. I HAVE BEEN A MECHANIC FOR OVER 30 YEARS, BUT I WAS WRONG. WHEN WE TOOK THIS "JEEP" IN TO NEW TIRES INSTALLED THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED US THAT THE RIGHT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT AND THE LEFT FRONT OUTER TIE ROD END WERE DEFECTIVE. WE WENT TO THE TIRE SHOP AND HE SHOWED ME THE DEFECTIVE PARTS, SO I HAD NEW PARTS INSTALLED. AT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE WAS FOUR YEARS OLD OR "NEW" AND HAD 44,000 MILES. IF THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN ABUSED MAYBE THESE PARTS WOULD BE BAD, BUT IT NEVER LEAVES THE HIGHWAY. MAYBE JEEP NEEDS TO INSTALL GREASE ZERKS IN THEIR PARTS. BALL JOINTS USED TO LAST 150,000 MILES, THESE MUST BE NEW AND IMPROVED -HUH!!! HAVING BAD BALL JOINTS AND TIE ROD ENDS ON A VEHICLE THREE YEARS OLD IS JUST WRONG. HOW MANY OF THESE PARTS HAVE FAILED AND CAUSED ACCIDENTS? *TR THE CONSUMER STATED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, THE VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING RANDOMLY. THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED AN ENGINE CODE: P2110 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM. THE DEALER CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TWICE, AND PERFORMED SOME TRANSMISSION UPDATED. HOWEVER, AS THE CONSUMERS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THERE CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. JEEP 2007, STANDARD. DURING AN OIL CHANGE TOLD CONTROL ARMS AND FRONT BALL JOINTS WORN , WILL NEED TO REPLACE THEM! HAVE 47,000 MILES ON THE JEEP; AM A CONSERVATIVE DRIVER. TIRES ARE WORN; HAVE ALWAYS PULLED TO THE SIDE. SHIFTING IS HORRIBLE; SLIPS INTO OTHER GEARS. THIS SUV IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE JEEP IS A DANGER, UNSAFE, AND SHOULD BE OFF THE MARKET. IN 2007 THE PATRIOT WAS NOT POPULAR. FRONT CONTROL ARMS AND BALL JOINTS ARE MESSED UP, WHICH CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO INNER TIRES TO WHERE THE WIRES INSIDE THE TIRE WERE SHOWING FROM THE OUTSIDE. 3. THE GAS TANKS ON THESE CARS ARE DEFECTIVE..YOU HAVE A HARD TIME PUTTING IN GAS ANS THEN AFTER YOU DO IT STALLS AND PUTTERS FOR ABOUT 15 MINS AFTER.THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE -IT SEEMS A CHARCOAL FILTER IN THESE TANKS IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM.THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS-YOU CAN STALL OUT IN TRAFFIC AFTER FILLING UP AND GET SLAMMED IN THE BACK!! THE JEEP PATRIOT AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK GAS IDLES STRANGELY AND TURNS OFF. I DO NOT TOP IT OFF AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH GAS STATION I USE. AFTER I REMOVE THE GAS PUMP FROM THE TANK I HEAR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A GALLON OF WATER BUBBLING/EMPTYING. RECENTLY CHRYSLER ISSUED RECALLS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER YEARS BUT IT THERE IS MULTIPLE REPORTS INCLUDING MY VEHICLE WHICH HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I'VE ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. AFTER RE STARTING SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONS CORRECTLY. I'VE ISOLATED THE PROBLEM TO THE GAS TANK: IF I LEAVE THE GAS CAP OFF FOR 3 MINUTES WHILE HEARING THE GAS TANK BUBBLE AFTER REMOVING THE GAS NOZZLE FROM THE PUMP THE VEHICLE HAS NO PROBLEM AND RUNS NORMAL WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF OR IDLING AS IF ITS FLOODING/CHOCKING. SEAT SLIDER & BALL JOINTS JEEP PATRIOT 2007 4X4 & REAR SUSPENSION---REPORTED SEAT COMING OUT OF LOCKED POSITION AFTER HAVING TO HIT BREAK A LITTLE HARD IN FORWARD AND ALSO HAPPENED IN REVERSE. MADE 3 COMPLAINTS TO THE SAME DEALER AND FINALLY HAD IT REPLACED. REPORTED TO SAME DEALER ABOUT NOISE IN THE FRONT AND REAR OF CAR, AFTER HAVING TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES AT 19,000 MILES BECAUSE THEY WERE BALD. DEALER SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG HOWEVER YOUNG LAD THAT INSTALLED TIRES SAID BALL JOINTS WERE LOOSE AND REAR END WAS SEIZED. NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD AND COMMUTE TO WORK IS 10 MILES ONE WAY ON EXPRESSWAY. INCLUDED IS COMPLAINT ABOUT TIRES, GOODYEAR 205/70R16 ALL SEASON. LASTED 19,000 MILES AND ALL WERE BALD. ROTATED EVERY 5,000 MILES AND BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT MAKE THAT TIRE SIZE BESIDES DUNLOP HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THEM WITH THE SAME AS I'M CANADIAN HERE AND DUNLOP IS NOT READILY AVAILABLE. OTHER ALTERNATIVE WAS TO BUY ALL NEW RIMS AND TIRES IN 17". AM CURRENTLY FIGHTING WITH CHRYSLER TO FIX THE SUSPENSION ISSUES SINCE THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF IT WELL WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO REPORT PROBLEMS HERE AND TO THE HEAD OFFICE OF THE COMPANY AND DON'T GIVE UP UNTIL YOU RECEIVE SATISFACTION. FRONT & REAR WHEEL BEARINGS ON MY 2007 JEEP PATROIT. WHEN I FIRST PICKED UP THIS VEHICLE AS A LEAST VEHICLE, MY FATHER, WHO IS A FORMER CHRYSLER ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN OF HIGHLAND PARK MICH TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND HAVE THE FRONT AND REAR WHEEL BEARINGS INSPECTED. HE SAID HE SUSPECTS THEY ARE FAULTY BECAUSE HE SAID HE HEARD THEM MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. AS SOON AS TIME PERMITTED I DID THAT AND THE DEALERSHIP, RICHMOND CHRYSLER REPLACED THE REAR BEARINGS ONLY. THEY SUPPOSEDLY ROAD TESTED THE CAR AND SAID IT WAS FINISHED. I PICKED IT UP AND HAD MY FATHER ALSO ROAD TEST IT. HE SAID THE FRONT BEARINGS WERE MAKING A WORSE NOISE THAN EVER AND THEY SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THIS AT THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN I ASK THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT, THEY SAID IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED AS MY WARRANTY HAD RUN OUT. ON MONDAY OF THIS WEEK I WAS FORCED TO TAKE IT BACK AND GET IT FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ORDERED THE PART THREE DIFFERENT TIMES AND ALL THE BEARINGS WERE BAD AND RETURNED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THEY FINALLY RECEIVED A GOOD SET AND NOW THEY GIVE ME A BILL OF $1400.00. MY FATHER RETIRED IN 2006 AFTER WORKING 41 YEARS. I THINK THIS IS VERY UNFAIR AND SHOWS LITTLE CONCERN FOR THE COSTUMER WHO IS BY LAW (RIGHT) TILL PROVEN OTHERWISE. I DON'T MIND PAYING A FAIR PORTION OF THE BILL BUT DON'T YOU THINK IT WOULD SHOW GOOD CONCERN FOR THE COSTUMER IF YOU CAME THROUGH TOO AND RECOGNIZED THAT THEY WERE BAD TO BEGIN WITH AND COVERED AT HALF THE COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE WORKING ON THE CASE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,516.
