ENGINE STALLS AFTER FILL UP OF FUEL WITHIN 5 MILES OF THE GAS STATION CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING. *TR
MY JEEP STALLS EVERY TIME AFTER I FILL IT WITH GAS, I PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC AND IT JUST STALLS AND I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER STEERING OR NOTHING. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP WITH GAS THE ENGINE STALLS SHORTLY AFTER AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING. VERY UNSAFE! I'VE TRIED TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE A DEFECT IN THE GAS TANK. NOTHING THAT I HAVE REPLACED HAS RESOLVED THIS REOCCURRING ISSUE.
VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE. EVERYTIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, WITHIN A FEW METERS OF THE GAS STATION MY CAR BEGINS TO BUCKS AND STALL. EVERY SINGLE TIME! ALMOST CAUSING MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM
THE CAR REGULARLY STALLS IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK UP TO FULL. WHETHER COMING TO A STOP, OR CRUISING, OR LIFTING OFF THE GAS PEDAL WHILE MOVING. OCCASIONALLY, EARLY IN THE MORNING, IT MAY STALL ALSO. IT WILL RESTART IMMEDIATELY AFTER STALLING BUT THE STALLING IS DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING AT SPEED, ON THE HIGHWAY, AND/OR IN TRAFFIC.
CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK WITH FUEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 20 TIMES
I HAVE OWNED MY 2007 JEEP PATRIOT SINCE JUNE 2017. ABOUT 3 MONTHS INTO OWNING IT I HAVE NOTICED THAT IT WILL STALL DIRECTLY AFTER I FILL MY GAS TANK. AFTER I LEAVE THE GAS STATION, I NOTICE THAT THE JEEP STARTS TO RATTLE AND SLOW DOWN, AND WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND I AM UNABLE TO TURN AND ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES SO FAR, AND THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE (12/11/17) IT STALLED 3 TIMES WITHIN 5 MINUTES BEFORE THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS THAT WARN ME OF THIS ON THE DASH, MAKING THIS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF I WERE TO BE ON A HIGHWAY OR BUSY INTERSECTION.
AFTER REFUELING MY CAR, THE ENGINE WILL STUTTER OR STALL AT THE FIRST STOP OR AT LEAVING THE GAS STATION IF THE VEHICLE IS GOING LESS THAN 40 MILES PER HOURS. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON MORE THAN 10 OCCASIONS, WITH THE LAST ONE BEGINNING AT THE STOPLIGHT BEFORE TURNING ON TO THE FREEWAY. THIS IS A VERY STRESSFUL SITUATION AS IT COULD EASILY CAUSE A CRASH DUE TO THE ENGINE FAILING UNEXPECTEDLY.
THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR OVER A YEAR EVEN AFTER TRYING SEVERAL DIFFERENT EXPENSIVE CORRECTIVE REPAIRS.AFTER REFUELING MY JEEP PATRIOT, IT STALLS BUCKS AND JERKS. I START IT UP, AND UPON PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AND PULL AWAY FROM PUMPS OR OUT INTO TRAFFIC IT BEGINS TO SPUTTER BUCK AND STALL. IT IS VERY DANGEROUSE ESECIALLY WHEN PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION INTO TRAFFIC WHICH HAS CAUSED SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS OF MY BEING HIT BECAUSE IT HAS STALLED IN INTERSECTIONS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I RELACED THE O2 SENSOR AND IT DID NOT CORRECT THE SITUATION. I USED HIGHER OCTANE FUEL AND IT DID NOT CORRECT THE SITUATION. I USED FUEL TREATMENT PURCHASED FROM DEALERSHIP UPON THEIR ADVISEMENT AFTER REPLACING THE FUEL FILTER AND HAVING THE FUEL SYSTEM SERVICED AND IT DID NOT CORRECT THE SITUATION.

AFTER FILLING GAS TANK WITH FUEL, AFTER 30ISH SECONDS THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND SOMETIMES RECOVER, SOMETIMES QUIT. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER I AM STOPPED AT A LIGHT/SIGN OR DRIVING. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS OF OTHERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. SEEMS THAT THE CHARCOAL CANISTER IS FILLING WITH GAS. PLEASE HELP MAKE THIS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR OTHER DRIVERS! THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER THE LAST 3 OR 4 MONTHS WITH MY VEHICLE.
VEHICLE STALLS SUDDENLY AFTER RE-FUELING. THIS STARTED HAPPENING A FEW WEEKS AGO AND NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS RE-FUELED. IT OCCURS A MILE OR SO AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION WITHOUT WARNING IN TRAFFIC. DEFECTIVE FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM IS REPEATABLE AND DANGEROUS. GET THIS RECALLED.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2016 FOR OUR DAUGHTER TO TAKE TO COLLEGE OUT OF TOWN. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS BEFORE I BOUGHT AND FOUND NONE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A CHEVY DEALER. AFTER OUR PURCHASE, I FILLED THE TANK WITH FUEL. WHEN I PULLED AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION AND INTO TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE STALLS AND CUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC. I RESTARTED IT AND WENT ABOUT A BLOCK AND THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT GOING ABOUT TWENTY MILES PER HOUR WHILE I WAS IN TRAFFIC. I MADE IT BACK HOME AND CALLED THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY STATED THEY DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CALLED A LOCAL JEEP DEARLERSHIP AND ASKED A SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID HE HAS NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. IMAGINE HOW YOU WOULD FEEL IF YOUR CHILD WAS DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH THIS ISSUE! MY DAUGHTER DID CALL YESTERDAY, 1/24/2016 AND STATED SHE MUST HAVE PUT TOO MUCH FUEL IN THE JEEP BECAUSE IT STALLED OUT IN TRAFFIC AFTER SHE PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION. MY ISSUE WITH THIS IS THAT IT SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN DOCUMENTED ISSUE AND HAS BEEN ADDRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES ON THIS SITE. THE CULPRIT SEEMS TO BE A FUEL/VAPOR CANISTER VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STALL IF FILLED ALL THE WAY UP. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALLS FROM JEEP BUT YOU GUYS HAVE DOCUMENTED CASES. I BOUGHT THE JEEP USED WITH NO WARRANTY OFFERED SO I AM STUCK WITH THIS. MY QUESTION IS WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED FROM YOUR DEPARTMENT? I DO NOT THINK IT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR JEEP TO IGNORE THIS ISSUE NOR YOUR DEPARTMENT IGNORE IT ALSO. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO ACTION. AFTER REFUELING MY 2007 JEEP PATRIOT THE CAR WILL STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. THE OIL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ABS LOCK UP. YOU HAVE TO TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES IT THEN SPUTTERS AND WILL JUMP WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN FILLED WITH GAS. IT IS GETTING HARDER AN HARDER TO RE START WHEN IT STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE GAS STATION. *TR
AFTER LEAVING A GAS STATION AND DRIVING ABOUT A HALF OF MILE DOWN THE ROAD, MY CAR STARTED TO STALL. I THEN HAD TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND COMPLETELY TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON. WHEN I WENT TO TURN IT BACK ON, IT DID NOT START UP RIGHT AWAY. THEN THE NEXT RED LIGHT THAT I STOPPED AT, WHICH WAS A HALF OF MILE AFTER THE FIRST STOP, MY CAR STALLED AGAIN. I THEN PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK, PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND RESTARTED THE CAR. NOW EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK TO FULL THE CAR STALLS. IT IS VERY SCARY AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC, HE SAID IT WOULD COST ABOUT $1000 TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK. APPARENTLY, THERE IS A VALVE THAT PREVENTS THE GAS FROM LEAKING OUT IF THE CAR WERE TO EVER ROLLOVER. IN ORDER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD THAT THE WHOLE GAS TANK WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
A MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE OVERFLOW VALVE IS PROBABLY THE PROBLEM,. HE STATED THAT WHEN FILING UP WITH GAS, IT IS NOT SHUTTING OFF THE NOZZLE FLOW IN TIME, AND ALTHOUGH IT ISN'T SPILLING GAS ON THE GROUND IT IS WETTING THE CANISTER. HE SAYS THAT THROWS OFF THE AIR-GAS CALCULATIONS UNTIL THE CANISTER DRIES, 1-4 MINS AFTER RUNNING. IN THE MEANTIME, IT SHUTTERS HARD AND/OR STALLS MULTIPLE TIMES, EVEN WHILE DRIVING. HIS RECOMMENDATION WAS TO LIVE WITH IT AND JUST MANUALLY FILL UP A LITTLE UNDER FULL. THIS IS BECAUSE THE VALVE CAN'T BE REPLACED W/O REPLACING THE ENTIRE TANK.
05/02/2014 BACKED OUT OF PARKING SPOT TO PICK UP SON FROM SCHOOL. VEHICLE STALLED 3 TIMES IN PARKING LOT BEFORE HAVING TO PUSH IT INTO A DIFFERENT PARKING SPACE. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. RECEIVED CALL TEST CODES FOR STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NOT INITIALIZED. DEALERSHIP NOT ABLE TO SHOW ERROR/CODE TO THE WARRANTY COMPANY,- WARRANTY COMPANY WOULD NOT OK WORK. THIS "CODE" HAS NEVER BEEN DUPLICATED AGAIN. 5/28/2014 CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH AND WOULD NOT RESTART. TRIED TO GET CODES BUT NO POWER TO THE ENGINE. VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP ON 5/29. 6/4/2014 RECEIVED CALL FROM DEALERSHIP TO OK REPLACING BATTERY DUE TO IT DYING. 6/5/2014 CALLED CHRYSLER & THEY OPENED A CASE. 6/11/2014 DEALERSHIP CALLED TELLING US THAT WE NEEDED TO PICK UP VEHICLE AND THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS AND WOULD NOT SPEND ANY MORE TIME WITH IT. 6/12/2014 HUSBAND SPOKE WITH CHRYSLER/JEEP AND HE WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE GOING TO LOOK FURTHER INTO THE ISSUE. 6/23/2014 HUSBAND RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT GETTING MORE INTERNAL RESOURCES INVOLVED AND WE WOULD HEAR BACK IN A FEW DAYS. 6/26/2014 RECEIVED CALL FROM CHRYSLER/JEEP. THEY SENT A CHRYSLER REP AND TECH TO THE DEALERSHIP - THEY WERE ABLE TO START CAR 20-30 TIMES WITH NO ISSUE, COULD NOT REPLICATE ANY PROBLEMS. CHRYSLER REP RECOMMENDATION TO DEALERSHIP CHARGE US STORAGE FEES IF WE DID NOT PICK UP THE VEHICLE BY 6/30/2014 ALSO TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS OLDER AND DID NOT HAVE A WARRANTY THROUGH THEM. 6/27/2014 PICKED UP VEHICLE. 7/04/2014 CAR DIED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD, AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES HUSBAND ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. 9/15/2014 THE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED EVER SINCE 7/4/2014 TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT DUE TO STALLING ISSUES AND AN UNWILLING TO PAY FOR ANOTHER "DIAGNOSTIC TEST" OR TOW TO BE TOLD THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND THE ISSUE. CONTINUE PAYING FOR A VEHICLE I CAN DRIVE SAFELY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.

EVERYTIME I PRESS THE BRAKES TO STOP, MY ENGINE STALLS OUT. THIS PROBLEMS FREQUENCY SEEMS TO HAVE INCREASED SINCE IT IS RAINING. MY PATRIOT HAS STALLED PREVIOUSLY THROUGHOUT THE YEARS BUT THEY WERE ISOLATED INCIDENCES OR SO I THOUGHT. AFTER READING JEEP FORUMS ONLINE, I SEE THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WHICH JEEP IS NOT ADDRESSING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AS I LIVE IN A HIGHLY CONGESTED AREA. STALLING ON THE EXPRESSWAY OR IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION CAN LEAD TO ACCIDENTS AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY. THIS ISN'T THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR. APPARENTLY ITS NOT UNCOMMON TO HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS CONTAINING THE BALL JOINTS AT 30K MILES. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES DUE TO IRREGULAR WEAR AND TEAR FROM DEFECTIVE PARTS. EVEN AFTER AN ALIGNMENT, AT HIGH SPEEDS THE CAR VIBRATES HARSHLY. THE TRANSMISSION STRUGGLES WHEN ACCELERATING. I PERFORM REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON MY CAR AND SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES. THE DEALERSHIPS WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY DAIMLER CHRYSLER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY MANUFACTURED CAR. I CANNOT BELIEVE JEEP GETS AWAY WITH ALL THESE SAFETY HAZARDS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. *TR
