THE THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. THE ENGINE RUNS ROUGH AND THE TOP SPEED IS 20-25 MPH. MY JEEP HAS DONE THIS 5 TIMES. A REST HAS WORKED 3 TIMES AND HAS NOT THESE LAST TWO TIMES.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR WENT OUT. GAS PEDDLE STOPPED WORKING AND VEHICLE SHAKING/STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHILE TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. APPROX 79,000. COST OVER $800 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE INTAKE MANIFOLD LAST SUMMER.
THE ENGINE STALLS SPORADICALLY WHILE DRIVING. IT ALSO HAS LOW OIL ENGINE PRESSURE. MY CAR MAKE AND MODEL WAS RECALLED, HOWEVER, MY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH I AM EXPERIENCING THE ISSUES RELATED TO THE RECALL.
THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN LESS THEN A 6 MONTHS PERIOD. I WOULD BE DRIVING THEN OUT OF NO WHERE MY VEHICLE JERKS MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I CAN NOT ACCELERATE PAST 20 MPH. I HAVE TO MANAGE TO PULL TO THE SIDE SOMEWHERE TO RESTART MY CAR SO IT WILL DRIVE SOMEWHAT NORMALLY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. ONE ERROR CODE SAID THERE WAS A LEAKING HOSE BUT THEY FOUND NOTHING LEAKING AND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. *TT *TR
TAKATA RECALL I TOOK MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT INTO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER FOR REPAIR OF THE S61 TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP BEING REPAIRED, THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THE NEWLY INSTALLED PART MALFUNCTIONED AND THOUGHT THE CAR HAD ROLLED OVER, AND DEPLOYED ALL AIRBAGS IN THE CAR. THIS DESTROYED THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, INCLUDING THE ROOF, SEATS, FRONT CONSOLE, STEERING WHEEL, AND SEAT BELTS. THE MANAGER MENTIONED THEY WOULD FIX THE DAMAGE. HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS SUBMITTED FOR THE REPAIR ON APRIL 12, 2018, AND AS OF MAY 14, 2018 THEY HAVE NOT REMOVED THE OLD AIRBAGS, OR INSTALLED ANY NEW AIRBAGS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. IF THE NEWLY INSTALLED PART USED TO FIX THE RECALL HAD MALFUNCTIONED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL IF AND WHEN THE PART WAS GOING TO MALFUNCTION. I NOW HAVE MY CONCERNS REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE, THE RELIABILITY OF THE RECALLED PART, AND THE SAFETY OF ANY NEWLY INSTALLED TAKATA AIRBAGS. THERE IS PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE JEEP SERVICE CENTER FOR NOT REPAIRING THEIR ERROR FOR GREATER THAN 5 WEEKS AFTER THE DAMAGED OCCURRED, FOR REDUCING THE VALUE OF MY CAR, AND FOR USING FAULTY EQUIPMENT IN THEIR REPAIR. THERE IS ALSO PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE TAKATA AIRBAG COMPANY FOR PROVIDING A FAULTY AIRBAG AND FAULTY REPAIR PART FOR THE S61 RECALL. THIS NEGLIGENCE COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL.
THE ROLL OVER CHECK VALVE INSIDE THE GAS TANK GETS STUCK. IF IT STICKS UP IT PREVENTS GAS TANK VENTING. IF IT STICKS DOWN IT ALLOWS GAS TO FLOW FROM THE VENT IF THE VEHICLE WERE TO ROLL OVER. MINE STUCK UP. WHEN I DISECTED THE TANK I HAD TO PRY THE CHECK VALVE OUT. ONCE I GOT IT OUT I FOUND IT MOVES FREELY THROUGH 270 DEGREES, BUT IF YOU ROTATE IT THROUGH THE OTHER 90 DEGREES IT GETS STUCK.
ON THE MORNING OF 4/1/18 I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHEN MY CAR LOST CONTROL AND HIT A TREE GOING BETWEEN 20-30MPH. IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION WHERE MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY SEAT BELT DID NOT TENSE DURING OR AFTER THE COLLISION. AS SUCH, I RECEIVED A LARGE LACERATION TO MY FOREHEAD WHEN IT HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS MAKING A SLIGHT LEFT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION NEAR A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND THE ROAD WAS SLICK FROM A SLIGHT RAIN THAT WAS HAPPENING. I HAD SKIDDED OUT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND BEFORE I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING I WAS COLLIDING WITH THE TREE IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WERE NO OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PINE BELT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (401 BROADWAY DR, HATTIESBURG, MS 39401, (601) 544-2430) WHERE THE WHEEL SENSORS, BRAKES, WHEEL BEARING, A LINE GOING TOWARDS THE TRANSMISSION, ABS, AND TRACTION SENSORS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 206,000.
2014 JEEP PATRIOT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ONE DEALER THAT CLAIMED THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT IT HAD NOT ACTUALLY BEEN COMPLETED THE CONSUMER TO THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER WHERE THEY COMPLETED THE RECALL REPAIR. *JS
THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED! NOT SAFE. MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR ABOUT A MONTH AGO. I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD SON WHEN THE CAR STARTED SHAKING AND CLUNKING UNCONTROLLABLY. I PULLED OVER THINKING I HAD A FLAT TIRE BUT DID NOT. WENT TO MECHANIC, WHERE THEY REPLACED FAULTY SWAY BAR AND ALSO INSTALLED AN EXHAUST SPRING BOLT KIT THAT WAS NEVER INSTALLED TO BEGIN WITH. GET THE CAR BACK TO NOT ONLY HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AGAIN ALONG WITH ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION SEEMING TO SLIP. I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT- AGAIN WITH MY SON IN THE CAR, WHILE BREAKING- THE CAR JUMPS RPM AND ALMOST RAN INTO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. ALSO ON CRUISE CONTROL THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP REV'N THE ENGINE. IT WAS STUCK OVER 4 RPM. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR SAFETY BUT IT IS FAR FROM SAFE. THERE WAS AN AIRBAG RECALL BUT WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR IT WAS MARKED AS A SEAT BELT RECALL. I WOULD OF STEERED CLEAR IF I KNEW ABOUT AIRBAG BUT NOW I KNOW AIRBAG MAY NOT WORK IN CRASH OR WILL DEPLOY RANDOMLY EVEN IF IT WAS FIXED IT'S NOT A LEGIT FIX DUE TO ELECTRICAL?! ALSO I BELIEVE THE RECALL ON 2.4 ENGINES SHOULD ALSO BE LOOKED INTO FOR MORE POSSIBLE CARS AFFECTED. MY CAR FOLLOWS SAME PROBLEMS AS THOSE RECALLED AND SAME ENGINE BUT MINES NOT RECALLED. THIS CAR CLUNKS IN AND OUT OF DRIVEWAYS. IT FEELS LIKE IT WILL FALL APART. THE WEATHER STRIPING IS POOR ALLOWING WATER TO GET IN CAUSING MOLDY SMELL. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ACCUMULATE WATER. THERE SEEM TO BE SIGNS OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HOWEVER MECHANIC CAN'T SEE IT. CAN'T CHARGE PHONE AN LISTEN TO RADIO UNLESS YOU LIKE STATIC! SAME WITH AUX CORD, JUST STOPPED WORKING. ASIDE FROM LOOKING NICE- CRYSLER DID A TERRIBLE JOB WITH THIS PARTICULAR PATRIOT. POORLY BUILT, NOT WORTH THE MONEY. THEY RATHER HAVE PEOPLE DIE OR GET SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE LOOKING INTO RECALLING IT RIGHT? MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT HAVE BEEN MADE AND CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP.
VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE DUE TO FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. PER RESEARCH AND MECHANICS STATEMENT THERE IS KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE CHEAP, POOR MADE THROTTLE BODY IN THIS VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL- 3 DASH LIGHTS ON ETC, MIL, AND ESC ACTIVATIONAL MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT ON- CAR MAKES SPUTTERING LOUD NOISE AND STALLS/TURNS OFF QUICKLY AFTER STARTING. CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE AND IS JERKING/HARD TO PRESS BREAKS. FEELS DANGEROUS LIKE CAR IS GOING TO SHUT OFF AT ANY MOMENT. THIS STARTED LAST NIGHT WHEN 3 LIGHTS APPEARED ON DASH BUT CAR SOUNDED NORMAL. SHORTLY AFTER IT SHUT OFF AND HAS GONE DECREASINGLY DOWN HILL.THIS SOUNDS LIKE A RECALL ISSUED FOR JEEP PATRIOTS BUT DOES NOT COVER MY VIN NUMBER.

ALSO, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER, WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES, AND RESTART THE VEHICLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING NORMALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL THROTTLE INDICATOR AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GREENWAY MOTORS (300 BEDFORD RD, MORRIS, IL 60450, (815) 942-3400) WHERE IT UNDERWENT SEVERAL UNKNOWN REPAIRS, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DISCLOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,625.
LEAKS WATER FROM OUT OF LIGHT IN REAR HATCH AREA DURING AND AFTER IT RAINS
FUEL TANK WILL NOT ACCEPT GAS. ON MOST GAS PUMPS THE FUEL CLICKS OFF EVERY O.25 GALLON. THE ONLY WAY TO FILL THE TANK IS TO BARELY OPEN THE FUEL NOZZLE, SO THE TANK FILLS VERY SLOWLY. TROUBLE WITH THAT IS THE FUEL DOESN'T SHUT OFF AT ALL. I JUST FILL THE TANK UNTIL IT SPILLS OUT. JEEP WANTS OVER $1,600 TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. I CAN SPILL A LOT OF GAS FOR THAT PRICE!
SO FOR THE LAST MONTH OR TWO MY WIFE 2014 JEEP PATRIOT HAS HAD THE ECT LIGHT COME ON ALONG WITH OTHERS WITH T LIKE THE TC AND CHECK ENGINE AND WHATS HAPPENING IS ITS BASICALLY LOSING POWER RANDOMLY AND WHEN IT START IT DOESN'T GO AWAY YOU CAN EVEN GET THE VEHICLE OVER 10 MPH I PERSONALLY HAVE READY A BUNCH OF THESE SAME COMPLAINTS ON HERE AND OTHER FORUM AND THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON IT FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD THEIR IS A ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY.
WHEN DRIVING MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOIT SPORT IT SUDDENLY KINDA JERKS AND WANTS TO STALL LIKE ITS CHOKING. OR NOT GETTING GAS. THIS HAPPENS ON REGULAR ROADS, AND HIGHWAYS. ESPECIALLY AFTER TURNING EVEN SLIGHTLY. EVERYTHING I HAVE READ SAYS THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS PERTAINING TO THIS. BUT WHEN I LOOK UP MY VIN. IT SAYS MY CAR HAS NO OPEN RECALLS. COULD IT BE THAT IT WAS RECALLED AND FIXED INCORRECTLY? OR HAVE U JUST NOT RECALLED MY JEEP YET? IT'S PRETTY SCARY AND ALL THE MECHANICS WHO LOOK AT IT, SAY THEY CAN'T DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BECAUSE NOTHING POPS UP WHEN THEY HOOK IT TO DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. IT IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE. I LOVE MY CAR. BUT LATELY I FEEL NERVOUS DRIVING IT. FOR FEAR IT WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER WHILE ON BUSY HIGHWAY. SO I AVOID THEM AT ALL COST. WILL TRY TO INVEST MORE MONEY TO TRY TO FIND THE PROBLEM AFTER TAX TIME, BUT THIS IS AN ISSUE I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFOR. I WROTE A DATE THIS HAPPENED IN THE DATE FIELD BECAUSE IT WAS REQUIRED. DRIVING ON A 55MPH HIGHWAY AT 55MPH AND ACCELERATION DISCONTINUED . I NOTICED ETC WARNING LIGHT WAS ON , CAR WOULD NOT THROTTLE PROPERLY I PULLED OFF ROAD ONTO EMERGENCY LANE. I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED BUT FORTUNATELY WAS NOT. LOOKED IN MANUAL, RETURNED HOME WITHIN 6 MILES AT ABOUT 30MPH ON 55MPH ROAD . CALLED CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO LESS THAN 60,000 MILES IT COULD BE TOWED THERE FREE. THEY STATED I NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY BUT NOT UNDER WARRANTY. WHY WOULD A MAJOR PART NEED REPLACED AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE.
I HAVE BEEN CONTACTING MY DEALERSHIP SINCE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED ON MY VEHICLE SINCE 2017. EVERY TIME I CALL I AM ADVISED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX MY VEHICLE, TO CALL BACK. WELL IT HAS BEEN ALMOST TWO YEARS AND I AM STILL TRYING TO HAVE THIS RECALLED ISSUE FIXED. THE ETC (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL) INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AND IT RESTARTED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE EXISTING COMPLAINTS FOR THE FAILURE, BUT THERE WAS NO CURRENT RECALL AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A STOP LIGHT, ANOTHER VEHICLE RUN THE RED LIGHT AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED AS SHE SUSTAINED BACK, ARM AND NECK INJURIES AS WELL AS THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BACK, NECK AND SHOULDER INJURIES. THE CONTACT MENTION THAT DUE TO THE IMPACT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE FRACTURED. THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAIN INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INSURANCE MECHANIC BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BUT WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE ACCIDENT DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.

THE DEALER PERFORMED THE REMEDY, BUT IT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE RECALL REPAIR WAS STILL DEEMED INCOMPLETE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBERS: 32742207 AND 32767855. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. WHILE PARKED AND IDLING, ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS STARTED MALFUNCTIONING - INDICATOR LIGHTS, WIPERS, BRAKE BOOSTER, RADIO - ALL TURNED ON WITH OR WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. SMOKE BEGAN TO POUR FROM THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, WHICH THEN BRIEFLY STARED ON FIRE. ONLY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY ALLOWED THE MODULE TO COOL DOWN AND STOP SMOKING.

DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ONE, THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING AND LOST POWER. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR, IT STARTED NORMALLY BUT MOMENTS LATER THE LIGHTS ALL CAM BACK AND THE JEEP STARTING SHAKING. THEN TWO DAYS OF NORMAL DRIVING AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND COMPLAINTS DATING BACK TO 2008.
MY JEEP KEEPS STALLING AND SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE JEEP WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN THIS HAPPENS.AND STOPPED.
THE UNIVERSAL JOINT HOLDING THE SIDE MIRROR BROKE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE WITHIN ~1 MONTH OF EACH OTHER. THE SAME COMPONENT FAILED IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY IN BOTH INSTANCES. IN BOTH CASES, THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED AT THE END OF A WORK DAY (~5PM) AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE FOR THE ENTIRE WORK DAY. THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED PRIOR TO ENTERING OR EVEN TOUCHING THE VEHICLE. THE MIRROR WAS LOOSE AND POINTING MORE TOWARD THE GROUND THAN NORMAL. UPON ATTEMPTING TO ADJUST THE MIRROR INTO THE CORRECT POSITION, IT WAS FOUND TO BE LOOSE AND DETACHED. THE BROKEN PIECE IS MADE OF PLASTIC. IT HAS A HEMISPHERE WITH 3 PRONGS STICKING OUT OF IT. THE 3 PRONGS HAVE GROOVES IN THEM THAT ENGAGE WITH TABS ON A SPACIAL WASHER. THE WASHER PUSHES ON A SPRING. ONE OF THE PRONGS IS BROKEN AT THE TOP OF THE GROOVE WHICH IS ENGAGED WITH THE WASHER. IT APPEARS THAT THE PLASTIC IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE SPRING LOAD, BUT THERE MAY ALSO BE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS DUE TO STRESS CONCENTRATIONS IN THE GROOVE OR FROM THE SHARP EDGES OF THE WASHER. SHE STATED THEY COULD NOT GET THE PART AND THAT THE PART WAS BEING 'RATIONED OUT.' THIS WENT ON OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT THREE WEEKS. UPON CONTACTING ANOTHER AREA DEALERSHIP (WEEKS IN WEST FRANKFORT) THEY HAD THE PART IN TWO DAYS AND PERFORMED THE RECALL REPAIR THE NEXT DAY. I FEEL THIS MATTER SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO SO THAT OTHERS AREN'T PROVIDED WITH THIS TYPE OF SERVICE AND FALSE INFORMATION. THANK YOU.
2014 JEEP PATRIOT STALLS OUT ON ME. TRAVELING AT SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 30MPH TO 55 MPH. PROBLEM INITIALLY STARTED IN EARLY 2016. DRIVING AT SPEED OF 55 MPH, CAR WILL START TO VIBRATE, THE ENGINE AND THE ETC (ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL) LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND THE ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND STALL OUT. THE LAST STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING OCCURRED 09/07/17. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO THE ROAD AFTER BEING ON THE SHOULDER, THE CAR WILL LUNGE FORWARD AND AGAIN STALL OUT. AFTER 5-7 ATTEMPTS AND NEARLY BEING HIT EACH TIME I TRY TO GET ON THE MAIN ROAD, THE PATRIOT WILL FINALLY GET ME STRAIGHT HOME. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING EVERY 3-4 MONTH OCCURRENCE FOR THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. I HAVE CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY TELL ME THEY KNOW OF NO SUCH COMPLAINTS OCCURRING. THIS VEHICLE MUST BE RECALLED, IT IS A DEATHTRAP! I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY PATRIOT BUT SEEING AS I HAVE NO OTHER OPTION FOR TRANSPORTATION, I HAVE TO SAY A PRAYER AND DRIVE IT TO MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. FOR EXAMPLE WHEN ON THE ON RAMP ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE INTERSTATE , IT JUST FEELS LIKE ITS ALMOST RUNNING OUT OF GAS AND RPM'S WILL GO UP TO 5-6 .I AM ALMOST AFRAID OF BEING RAN OVER WHEN ACCELERATING DURING ANY SITUATION. ALSO MY BRAKES FROM DAY ONE HAVE ALWAYS SQUEEKED... I'VE TAKEN IT IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED , THEY HAVE CLEANED AND DAYS LATER THE SAME THINK. I DRIVE MY TWO DAUGHTERS AROUND AND CANNOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE TO BE SAFE. WE HAVE TRIED LOOKING INTO FIXING IT AND NO ONE CAN TELL US WHAT IS WRONG. AT 27,900 MILES THE PLASTIC GEARS IN THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED, CAUSING AN UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND CLIMBING A HILL. I DID MY RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS EXISTED SINCE 2007 WITH NO PERMANENT SOLUTION. THIS MANIFESTS ITSELF AS AN INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER UNTIL THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT COMES ON AT WHICH POINT I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THERE IS AN EXCELLENT VIDEO BY MOTOR CITY MECHANIC ON YOUTUBE THAT EXPLAINS THIS ISSUE IN DETAIL. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ONE OF THESE FAILS AT SPEED AND SOMEONE IS KILLED.

LOST POWER WHEN MOVING AWAY FROM A SIGNAL LIGHT AND MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE SLOWLY. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND US. PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED OK AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME ABOUT 10 MILES. VERY SCARY! ONLY 7,400 MILES ON VEHICLE.
I HAVE TAKEN THE JEEP BACK TO THE DEALER 3 TIME TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO SALUTATION TO THE RECALL AS OF YET. I THINK THEY SHOULD REPLACE THIS JEEP WITH AN UP GRADED JEEP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OR BUY IT BACK.
