Safety Features
Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200, and model year 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot vehicles equipped with 2.4L engines. Due to abrasive debris in the balance shaft bearings, these engines may have a loss of engine oil pressure, possibly resulting in an engine stall or engine failure.
Remedy Status
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine balance shaft module, free of charge. The recall began on December 24, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N52.
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Chrysler 200, 2010 Chrysler Sebring, 2010-2012 Dodge Caliber and 2010-2014 Jeep Patriot, Compass and Dodge Avenger vehicles. The Occupant Restraint Control (OCR) module may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags from deploying in the event of a crash.
Remedy Status
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the OCR, free of charge. Interim letters informing owners that parts are not available yet were mailed on October 26, 2016. The recall began on August 15, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S61.
On a fateful day, I, [XXX] , found myself in a harrowing situation on the interstate. While driving, my car unexpectedly flipped over, tumbling four times before coming to a jarring stop. The chaos began when my engine backfired violently, which was followed by the alarming sight of smoke rising from under the hood as flames erupted. To make matters worse, my four-wheel drive system malfunctioned, leaving me helpless and unable to regain control. Despite my efforts, the seatbelt that is supposed to ensure safety failed to hold me securely, and the airbag system did not deploy, adding to the sense of dread I experienced during the crash. As I tried to process the unfolding nightmare, I found myself unable to unbuckle my seatbelt due to the shock and disorientation of the accident. The dashboard's sensors were unresponsive, and my speed monitor flickered as though mocking my plight. In that moment, the overwhelming fear and confusion turned into a painful reality as I was left with a broken left shoulder blade and a fractured left forearm, the break occurring in the upper arm, just adding to the turmoil of the incident. This life-altering experience not only left me physically injured but also sparked a deep reflection on my life and the importance of safety measures in vehicles. I went to the Quirk Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM dealership of Dorchester (on hallet street) to have my vehicle recall serviced & I was turned away because I was told that the dealership does not service cars passed a certain mileage limit.
The vehicle was parked in front of my house, completely away from all traffic or other probable causes. The driver's side head rest deployed for no apparent reason. My vehicle had no scratches or dents. If you need to come see it, let me know. Now if I do have an accident, I'm at risk of head and neck injuries. I spoke to a certified Jeep dealership mechanic that told me replacement parts were no longer available. He did not inform me of any recalls or issues with this make and model and made it sound like an expensive repair. After looking this issue up on the internet, it seems to have happened to others. The deployment did not activate the airbags or turn on the warning light on my dash.
Throttle body light keeps coming on. Dealer states it is PCM issue.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. While the contact’s daughter was driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and decelerated unintendedly. During the failure, the power steering, brake assist, and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The driver was able to coast to the side of the road, where the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed and after approximately 30 - 40 minutes, the vehicle was restarted. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V115000 (Electrical System); online, which indicated a similar failure and that the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM-7) might fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning. The make and model year was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
The headrest exploded while I was driving down the road, and it hit me in the back of the head
The 2014 Jeep Patriot includes an Active Head Restraint (AHR) that deploys during a rear end collision. On 5/22/2025 The driver's side AHR deployed in my 2014 Jeep Patriot while the vehicle was moving at approximately 5 miles per hour in a parking lot, when there was no collision. The malfunction caused the AHR to move forward and hit the driver in the head (which did result in a headache and sore neck for the driver). The AHR on the front passenger's side did not deploy, which indicates that this was a malfunction limited to the driver's side AHR. I have been advised by my local Jeep dealership that this is not a "covered" malfunction and will cost approximately $500 to replace the AHR, "assuming they can get the part in stock." I was further advised that the warranty for this part was extended, but if it didn't malfunction within the covered period, then the owner is responsible for any later malfunction because it was "not a recall."
I reached out to the dealer about another issue with my radio by phone they helped with that situation later that day I received a text telling me about vehicle recalls. I called and made an appointment. They repaired part of the issue but had to order parts for the rest. I took my vehicle back the only light in the dash that stays on is the tire pressure light. When my son and I went to pick it back up we noticed the light on when I asked about it I was told the tech would talk to me but was gone for the day. He Jacob reached out the next day and told me it would need further inspection. I finally got in touch with a manager Mark he said the part broke when they attempted repair and this was due to the age of the car. I told him it was no issues before they touched it and I would like it fixed he told me to bring it in and they would inspect free of charge next thing I know he called and told me I was responsible for repairs. I'm not happy and don't/didn't know what to do therefore I'm reaching out here.
My engine light and traction light and red lightning bolt light is on and it’s making the vehicle run really hard and shake and almost stall out and won’t go over 20 miles per hour

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the passenger’s side active headrest had deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the two plastic clips used to hold the headrest in place were fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V282000 (Electrical System, Air Bags), but the VIN was not included. Vehicle at random engage in breaks. This was the problem from day one and is now. I think someone need to be hold accountable for this automatic crap. This is goings-on problem in last 3 vehicle I had. Rustay wearing / display random images on the dashboard. NO ABS or Traction Control. This is dangerous when driving, making car unstable on some occasion. Deler refuse to sell me vehicle! Please tell me how I can get legal exemption from all electronics I do not need and endanger my live. One more Federal law requires mechanical speed limit to be 85MPH. Where can I get car that is safe to drive at rinsible price?

The vehicle was taken to Disbrow's Auto Repair LLC, where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the failure was a common failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that it was a known failure; however, the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000. The VIN was not available.
The head rest on the drivers seat and the passenger seat deployed while parked. There was a broken piece of plastic on the seat that looks like it broke off sometime during the day while the car was parked at work. They did not happen at the same time. The passenger seat happened about a year ago but no one usually sits in that seat.
i have sent in my jeep patriot in few years ago for recall that has to do with airbags issue. jeep patriot just reached 10 year old and now i am getting air bag light every time i turn my steering wheel while parked and while driving it keeps dining every min or less. i was told it may be clock spring in steering wheel and i believe i should not have to replace it being 165xxx miles and just hit 10 year mark. i have been replacing many other parts knowing its part of wear and tear but having to replace clock spring on not so old cars is very concerning for our safety when it comes to jeep my jeep is 2014 and has been well taken care of. i am upset finding there are recalls for wrangler for clock spring but none for patriot. please get back with me with possible fix for this. i know jeep is one of best vehicles to have and i am starting to be worried if this going to be a common problems for jeep.
Head rest Active Restraint System(ARS) deployed on my passenger side front seat for my 2014 Jeep Patriot while it was parked. Looking at the head rest, the bar that keeps the ARS in place and locked in place, broke out of the plastic housing that was holding the head rest in the correct place. When the plastic housing broke the ARS deployed when the car was in park. If this had occured while driving it could have caused significant injury or an accident if the driver side head rest would have deployed while driving.
On July 25, 2024 the front passenger headrest randomly deployed while the vehicle was parked. I was seated in that seat when it happened. Because I was leaning to the side I was not injured. Today, July 26, 2024, I brought the vehicle in to a Jeep service center to confirm that is what happened, it was confirmed that this is a problem.
AFTER FILLING UP GAS TANK AND DRIVING FOR ABOUT A MILE, VEHICLE STUTTERS AND STALLS. DURING THIS, THE BRAKES ARE DIFFICULT TO WORK AND THE STEERING GOES OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER FILLING GAS TANK MANY TIMES, MOST RECENTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET WHERE I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. AFTERWARD, I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTART. IT HAS A SLOW START, AND THE PROBLEM SOMETIMES HAPPENS ONE OR TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES, BUT THEN RUNS FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I HAVE TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED AND NO SOLUTION WAS FOUND. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED.
Drivers side head restraint deployed when sitting parked in car striking my wife in head car was not running. Contacted dealer states no idea when part can come contacted jeep told to look for part on internet fix myself there is a safety recall on this issue and I am unable to get this resolved thru jeep and dealer
The front turn signals fail continuously as the turn signal units leak and fill with water causing the bulbs to short out. I called one dealer in the past and was told they were not covered by my warranty due to my vehicle's age, it's a 2014. The cost to repair is expensive as you have to access the turn signal unit through the front wheel wells to change the bulbs. The bulbs are inexpensive but the labor is costly due to the labor required. I have had to replace bulbs once every 12-18 months due to this problem. Most recent failures are detailed below, once agin both turn signals have failed.
