My jeep would suddenly jerk forward almost rear ending people at red lights without any warning. While traveling at approximately 45 mph the engine light came on my jeep. As I went to pull over the engine started bucking/jerking then the engine light flashed. I was barely able to pull over on the side of the road before the car completely stalled. I had to have towed to a dealership as it was no longer drivable. I was almost on the highway. The dealership said I had total engine failure and should buy a new car. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I ASSOCIATE THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V552000 (ENGINE) That has been open since of 11/2013. But my vehicles VIN “wasn’t included”. I was driving with my four small kids in my jeep.
WAS DRIVING 55 ON HIGHWAY AND JEEP STARTED SPUTTERING AND JUMPING. THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THROTTLE BODY SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON. LIMPED IT HOME WITH FLASHERS ON AT 30 MPH. IT WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR HAD A ROUGHY START JUST THREE WEEKS AGO AND I WAS TOLD I HAD A BAD ALTERNATOR MY CAR STOPPED WHEN I WAS DRIVING. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN THREE WEEKS LATER AND I WAS TOLD MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT HAD A BAD THROTTLE BODY AND AGAIN MY VEHICLE STOPPED AS IT WAS IN MOTION IN TRAFFIC. THE FIRST TIME IT STOPPED I WAS ON A CITY STREET THE SECOND TIME I HADN'T EVEN CLEARED MY DRIVEWAY IT STOPPED IN THE STREET AND I WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN I PARKED IT IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP
SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT. VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WOULD STALL. VEHICLE WOULD ONLY DRIVE AT VERY LOW SPEED TO GET TO SAFETY. AFTER RESTARTING, ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON, VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE BUT SOON FAILED AGAIN WITHIN A FEW MILES AND THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT MAY COME ON AS WELL. WAS TOO CONCERNED WITH GETTING TO SAFETY TO KNOW FOR SURE.
2014 JEEP PATRIOT, WAS DRIVING STREETS GOING 45 MPH NO ISSUES AS SOON AS I GO ONTO HIGHWAY AND BEGAN ACCELERATING THE CAR JUST LOST ALL POWER AND I WAS ABLE TO CRUISE IT ONTO SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED CAR OFF RESTATED AND TRIED AGAIN TO SEE IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND AS SOON AS I BEGAN ACCELERATING IT STALLED OUT. I HAD SOME JERKING WHEN GOING UPHILL IN MARCH TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DETERMINED SPARK PLUGS WERE THE ISSUE, THEY WERE REPLACED AND NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW. WILL BE DROPPING OFF CAR TO MECHANIC TO SEE WHAT THE CAUSE OF IT STALLING OUT MAY BE. *TR

THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VICTORVILLE MOTORS (14617 CIVIC DR, VICTORVILLE, CA 92394, (760) 843-8317) HOWEVER, WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
WHILE DRIVING AROUND PARKING LOT VEHICLE STARTED TO RUN EXTREMELY ROUGH ALMOST TO THE POINT OF STALLING. BECAME VERY HARD TO DRIVE INCLUDING LOOSING STEARING AND BRAKE FUNCTION CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOOSE CONTROL AND COMING TO A STOP INTO A BUSH. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ON THE DASH AT THE TIME, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ELECTRIC SYMBOL. DEALER STATED THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WAS A COMMON REPAIR THEY HAD SEEN MANY TIMES. WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY WHICH LEFT ME WITH A $1000 REPAIR BILL. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. CALLED UP JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE COMPLETELY UNWILLING TO COVER ANY COSTS OF THE REPAIR OR ADMIT THERE WAS ANY ISSUE. THANKFULLY THIS ISSUE DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HEARN STEIN JEEP (215 WEST EMMITT AVE, WAVERLY, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LINDSAY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (8100 CENTREVILLE RD, MANASSAS, VA 20111, (888) 241-6888) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS SAME PART HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
I ACCELERATED UP TO 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET AND THEN COASTED UP TO TRAFFIC AND WAS SLOWING DOWN, AT THE LIGHT AND MY CAR ALL THE SUDDEN TURNED ON 3 LIGHTS THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TROTTLE POSITION LIGHT. I STOPPED MY CAR AT THE LIGHT AND ONCE I DID THE CAR JERKED FORWARD SENDING ME INTO THE INTERSECTION. LUCKY NO ONE WAS COMING BUT I ENDED UP HAVING TO RUN THE RED LIGHT BECAUSE MY CAR JERK FORWARD AGAIN AND ONCE I GAVE IT GAS IT ONLY GOT WORSE. I PULLED OFF INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED MY CAR ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES TO RESET THE COMPUTER. IT FINALLY DID AFTER TURNING IT ON AND OFF FIVE TIMES. ALL THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. SO I TRIED TO DRIVE IT TO WORK AND ONCE I DROVE DOWN THE CITY ROAD A LITTLE WAYS (MAYBE A MILE). THE CAR JERKED AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT UP AND THEN DOWNSHIFTED AND MY ENGINE THEN REVED TO FIVE THOUSAND RPM. AND ALL THE LIGHTS TURNED BACK ON AND MY CAR JERK VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH. THE RPM'S STAYED AT THREE TO FOUR THOUSAND REVING MY ENGINE NEEDLESSLY. I FINALLY PULLED OFF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A SHOP. THE JEEP CERTIFIED MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE HEARD OF A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE ESPECIALLY WHEN GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY CAR JUMPS AND WILL NOT GO. RED LIGHTNING BOLT SYMBOL COMES ON THE DASHBOARD. HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. ALSO SEEMS TO BE GETTING A LOT WORSE.
MY JEEP PATRIOT IS 5 YEARS OLD AND ALREADY I HAD THE THROTTLE BODY GO BAD, STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND I WAS GOING ABOUT 60 MPH JERKED ME AND MY PASSENGER, HAD IT REPLACED ALSO THE ABS MODULE CONTROL WHICH ALSO GAVE OUT 2 MONTHS LATER WHILE I WAS DRIVING, VERY DANGEROUS, CAR STILL NOT RUNNING GOOD!! SAME COMPLAIN AS EVERYONE ELSE. MY JEEP PATRIOT 2014 SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STARTED JERKING WHILE DRIVING NOT ALLOWING ME TO ACCELERATE. THREE LIGHTS CAME ON THE THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT, ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY MY SELF AND I WANT MY DANG RECALL OR A LAWSUIT FILED BECAUSE THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND LIFES ARE INVOLVED.
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE A RED LIGHNING BOLT APPEARS ON MY DASH THAN I AM UNABLE TO GAS THE VEHICLE. THAN THE LIGHT TURNS OFF AND THE CAR IS NORMAL UNTIL IT NEEDS TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THAN THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR AGAIN. THE LIGHT IS NOT ON LONG ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO USE A CODE READER TO BE ABLE TO FIND OUT THE ISSUR AT HAND. IF IT IS A SENOR OR SOMETHING WITH THE THROTTLE OR BOTH. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE BUT ONLY ONCE THIS TIME IT HAS BEEN A CONTINOUS ON AND OFF SITUATION THAT I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE COMFORTABLY.

MOMENTS LATER, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRIENDSHIP CHRYSLER JEEP (2638 W. STATE ST, BRISTOL, TN) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE THROTTLE SYSTEM WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
ALREADY ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT 70 MPH, I NOTICED THAT IT WAS HARDER TO ACCELERATE. I WAS PUSHING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL AND MY JEEP WAS NOT PICKING UP ANY SPEED. THE TACHOMETER WAS PUSHING THE LINE IN READ BETWEEN 7 & 8 AS I WOULD TRY TO ACCELERATE. COUPLE DAYS LATER DRIVING IN TOWN, IT DID IT AGAIN ONLY IT TOOK AWHILE TO ACCELERATE AND GET TO 30-40 MPH. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO AUTO-ZONE TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. THEY TOLD ME TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY AND HAVE IT SIT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS TO SEE IF THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME OFF. WEEK LATER I'M STILL STUCK WITHOUT MY VEHICLE. REPORTED IT TO MOPAR AND THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT FIXED. MY JEEP ONLY HAS UNDER 90K MILES ON IT. I'M HOPING THIS ISSUE BECOMES A RECALL BEING THAT THE STORIES HAVE BEGUN TO SURFACE LATE NOVEMBER 2018.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ON 50-60 MILES AN HOUR . PROBLEM ACCELERATING OVER 60 MILES WITHOUT A LOUD NOISE. THE NOISE ROSE SO LOUD I THOUGHT I HAD A HOLE IN THE EXHAUST PIPE. OF CORSS THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE ANY KNOWEDGE OF WHATS GOING ON BUT I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE JEEP COMPLAINT CITE. TOOK MY CARE IN TO A MUFFLER REPAIR SHOP THINKING I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE EXHAUST AND IT TURNS OUT THERE MAY BE SOMETHING WRO G WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I DON'T EVEN HAVE 46,000 MILES ON MY CAR YET. PLEASE ORDER A RECALL ON THIS MATTER. DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAY. THANKS

WITHOUT WARNING, THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP A HILL. THE CONTACT HAD TO FORCEFULLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DEACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY AT ABOUT 30 MPH MY ETC LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR STARTS TO SLOW AND WILL NOT LET ME ACCELERATE. ALSO AS SOON AS I STOP AND START TO GO MY CAR MOVES VERY SLOWLY ABOUT 10MPH AND SOMETIMES THE ETC LIGHT AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON AND MY CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE OVER 15/20MPH AT ALL UNTIL I STOP AND TRY TO GO AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT'S SO BAD THAT I HAVE TO STOP AND SHUT OFF MY CAR AND START IT AGAIN FOR IT TO FIX ITSELF. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING ACROSS THE ROAD OR TURNING WHEN OTHER CARS ARE COMING. NEVER MIND HOW DANG IT IS IF IT IS TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH I HAVE AVOIDED SINCE I DON'T FEEL LIKE DYING ANYTIME SOON. EVERYTHING I READ ON THE INTERNET IS SAYING THAT IT'S BEEN HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE 2014 JEEP PATRIOTS. THIS IS HONESTLY SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE SERIOUSLY HURT AND AT NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. I'VE ALSO READ ABOUT A RECALL ON AN ENGINE PART FROM 2013 IN THE 2014 PATRIOTS WITH A 2.4L ENGINE AND I AM JUST WONDERING WHY WHEN I LOOK UP RECALLS FOR MY CAR THAT SPECIFIC ONE DOES NOT SHOW UP. IF SOMETHING IS WRONG AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OWNERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
