DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HITTING A POT HOLE AT 7 MPH THE PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT ANCHOR CAME LOOSE FROM THE VEHICLE FLOOR. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT BEEN ALERTED AND NO INSPECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.
48,000 MILES ON A NEW JEEP WRANGLE, THE CONDENSER HAS A HOLE IN . NO A/C. I HAD A 03 JEEP THAT THE CONDENSER HAD A HOLE IN IT AT THE EXACT SAME PLACE. OUT OF WARRANTY- NEED NEW CONDENSER. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. EVERYTIME I FUEL MY VEHICLE AT THE PUMP, FUEL WILL SPEW OUT BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. I ASKED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT AND BLAMED IT ON ME BASICALLY. I STARTED PUTTING THE FUEL IN SLOWER AND IT WORKS MOST OF THE TIME BUT SOMETIMES I STILL WILL HAVE FUEL SPEW OUT BEFORE THE PUMP CLICKS OFF, NO MATTER HOW SLOW I TRY. SEARCHING ONLINE FORUMS, I HAVE FOUND OUT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM, ON THE CONTRARY THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM, BETWEEN 97-06 TJ JEEP WRANGLER MODELS. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL MY CARS GAS TANK UP THE FUEL SPILLS OUT I HAVE COMPLAINED TO CHRYSLER AND JEEP BOTH HAVE SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT ITS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN THOUGH GAS SPILLING OUT OF A VEHICLE I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IS PRETTY UNSAFE THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. *TR
I HAVE AN 06 JEEP WRANGLER WITH THE DEATH WOBBLE. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. I HAVE REPLACED MY TIRES THREE TIMES. I TOOK MY JEEP AND HAD THREE MECHANICS LOOK IT OVER TODAY, EACH WITH THE SAME RESPONSE, " I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE." I'VE CALLED JEEP SEVERAL TIMES, I REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER AS THEY RECOMMENDED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AND I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. *TR
NEW JEEP WRANGLER WITH 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION GRINDS WHEN OPERATOR UPSHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEARS, NECESSITATING AN UNUSUALLY SLOW SHIFT AND CONSEQUENT POOR LOW-SPEED ACCELERATION FROM A STOP. CONDITION IS WORSE WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD AND INTERMITTENT WHEN WARM. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS. JEEP REPRESENTATIVES STATE CONDITION IS "NORMAL" FOR THIS VEHICLE. NO REPAIR PERFORMED. *JB
TOXIC NOXIOUS FUMES EMITTING FROM UNDERNEATH BRAND NEW VEHICLE AFTER PICK UP FROM DEALER. TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE UNDER COATING THAT WOULD BURN OFF WITH TIME. *JB
ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN A BRAND NEW VEHICLE, ONCE AT 6K MILES AND AGAIN AT 11K MILES, BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE VIBRATIONS/SHAKING/PULSATING IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT SPEEDS OF 50 - 55 MPH. PROBLEM CONTINUES TO REOCCUR AND ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME. VEHICLE NOW HAS 15K MILES. *NM
BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MPH THE FRONT OF VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. *NM
MY JEEP GOES INTO A DEATH WOBBLE WHENEVER I HIT 50-55 MPH. THERE ARE TIME I HAVE TO GRIP THE STEERING WHEEL W/BOTH HANDS, WITH A DEATH GRIP FOR FEAR I WILL LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WILL LEAVE MY LANE OR FLIP OVER. I HAVE DRIVEN SEVERAL JEEPS AND OTHER AUTOS AND HAVE NEVER EVER EVER BEEN SO FRIGHTENED OF CRASHING. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY CHRYSLER TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE GAS CONTINUALLY OVERFLOWS. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF THE TANK IS FUELING FAST OR SLOW. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IF YOU DON'T REMEMBER TO STAND BACK YOUR SHOES AND CLOTHING ARE SATURATED. *TR

PULLING FROM DRIVEWAY ONTO STREET, SHIFTING FROM FIRST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR (MANUAL 6-SPEED), HEARD A POP FROM UNDER DASH AND CLUTCH PEDAL WENT SLACK TO FLOORBOARD. NO CLUTCH CONTROL AFTERWARD. NO ACCIDENT BUT TREMENDOUS STRESSFUL CONDITION, ABLE TO DRIVE IN LOW GEAR OFF STREET INTO PARKING LOT AND DISENGAGE TRANSMISSION AND BRAKE. CAR TOWED TO DEALER. AWAITING DEALER RESPONSE. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE CLUTCH PEDAL MECHANISM, DISCOVERED A SMALL PLASTIC CLIP ATTACHING PEDAL TO CLUTCH CYLINDER HAD BROKEN. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DESIGN ISSUE. NO RECALL INFO AVAILABLE AS OF YET. VEHICLE HAS 600 MILES ON IT. *NM
THREE MONTH OLD JEEP WRANGLER WITH 6 SPEED. AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A FEW HOURS, REGARDLESS OF OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE, THE FIRST SEVERAL 1-2 SHIFTS UPON DRIVING IT AGAIN EXHIBIT A LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHICH CAN ALSO BE FELT THROUGH THE SHIFTER. THE TRANSMISSION IS RELUCTANT TO COME OUT OF FIRST GEAR. IT HAS TO BE PULLED OUT OF GEAR INSTEAD OF JUST SLIDING OUT. IT THEN FEELS LIKE IT BOUNCES OFF OF SECOND GEAR, REQUIRING ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE SECOND. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE VEHICLE, IT ACTUALLY FELT LIKE THERE WAS NO FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION. SHIFTING BECOMES MUCH SMOOTHER, I.E. NORMAL, ONCE IT HAS BEEN RUN FOR A FEW MILES, ALTHOUGH I DO FEEL IT OCCASIONALLY EVEN AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE. DEALER ROAD TESTED THE VEHICLE AND SAYS IT IS "O.K. AT THIS TIME." THIS CONDITION MAY HAVE SOME SAFETY RAMIFICATIONS IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSMISSION LONGEVITY ISSUES. FIRST GEAR IN THIS VEHICLE IS VERY LOW. I ONLY USE IT TO START ROLLING A LITTLE BIT AND THEN QUICKLY TRY TO ENGAGE SECOND. HOWEVER, I AM SO CONSCIOUS OF THE DIFFICULTY OF THIS 1-2 SHIFT THAT I EXECUTE IT VERY SLOWLY, ALL THE WHILE CRINGING AT HE THOUGHT OF THE DAMAGE I AM DOING TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE RPM'S DROP OFF SO MUCH DURING THE TIME OF THIS SHIFT THAT THERE IS LITTLE POWER AVAILABLE ONCE I ACTUALLY ENGAGE SECOND, RESULTING IN LEISURELY ACCELERATION AT BEST. ON TWO OCCASIONS ALREADY, THE PEOPLE BEHIND ME HAVE BLOWN THEIR HORNS AND NEARLY RUN UP MY BACK BECAUSE, I BELIEVE, THEY MUST HAVE THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO STOP INSTEAD OF CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE. IT IS GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE, IF THE ROAD IS LEVEL, I TAKE OFF USING SECOND GEAR INSTEAD OF FIRST UNTIL I HAVE TRAVELED SEVERAL MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO BEHAVE NORMALLY. I HAVE DRIVEN MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS FOR 20 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR. *JB
WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT FROM A DEAD STOP I DEPRESS THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PEDALS, STARTED THE ENGINE, AND PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE. AS SOON AS I LOOKED BACK THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE JEEP LEAPT BACKWARDS. APPARENTLY THE "PLASTIC" LINKAGE CONNECTING THE PEDAL TO THE CLUTCH MECHANISM SNAPPED. IT IS NOW BEING REPLACED BUT FROM PREVIOUS REPORTS I BELIEVE THIS WILL BECOME A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION ON THE 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. *JB
WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING AND WINDOWS ARE OPENED, A TOXIC NOXIOUS ODOR IS EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM STARTED WHEN VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP NEW FROM DEALER. OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE ARE ABLE TO TASTE A CHEMICAL LIKE SUBSTANCE ON LIPS AND TONGUE. ALSO HEADACHE & DIZZINESS OCCURS WITH CASES OF VOMITING. DEALER REPLACED RADIATOR, COMPRESSOR, VENTS AND ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *JB
TOOK MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT RIGHT-HAND DRIVE TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE GARAGE FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT APPROX. 6900 MILES. THEY TESTED ALL THE LIGHTS AND FOUND THAT BOTH MAIN BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING, AND NOT DUE TO BULB FAILURE. THE THIRD LIGHT, ABOVE THE SPARE TIRE, WAS WORKING PROPERLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY, WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY STEERING COLUMN ELECTRICAL STALK SYSTEM ASSEMBLY. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED, THOUGH SUCH A BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS CRASH. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FAULTY STEERING COLUMN STOCK ASSEMBLY UNDER WARRANTY, AND THE DEFECTIVE PART WAS NOT SAVED. *NM
I PURCHASED MY JEEP IN APRIL OF 2006. THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING EVERY TIME I WOULD PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE OR TRAVEL BETWEEN 55 & 60 MPH. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WITH 19,000 MILES ON IT, 03/14/07, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED - THEY SMOOTHED THEM DOWN, CHARGED ME $229.00 AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE WAY THAT I DROVE. THAT REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY! *TR
VEHICLE SPRAYS OUT GASOLINE WHENEVER I FILL IT UP. 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM FILL UPS, USUALLY 3 OUT OF 5 TIMES. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I FILL THE TANK TO FULL. THE DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX THIS ISSUE A FEW TIMES ALREADY. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING ON ALOT OF JEEP VEHICLES. *TR
THE 2006 SIX SPEED JEEP WRANGLER HAS A VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. NEW FOR THE 2006 JEEP WRANGLER IS THE SIX SPEED TRANSMISSIONS AND WHAT I HAVE RECENTLY LEARNED THE HARD WAY IS PART OF THE REDESIGN INCLUDES THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THE CLUTCH ROD COMES OUT OF THE FLOOR BOARD AND ATTACHES TO THE CLUTCH PEDAL WITH A CLIP/ATTACHMENT THAT BOLTS ONTO THE CLUTCH PEDAL. THE PROBLEM HERE IS AS PART OF THEIR NEW DESIGN THE CLIP OR ATTACHMENT PIECE IS MADE OF ??PLASTIC?? AND I FOUND THAT IT CAN BREAK VERY EASILY AND DISABLE YOUR JEEP. I LEARNED THIS FACT THIS LAST WEEKEND AND IF I HAD BEEN ROCK CLIMBING OR IN THE DESERT INSTEAD OF IN TOWN I MIGHT NOT BE HERE LETTING ALL YOU JEEP OWNERS KNOW ABOUT THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. IN ADDITION TO THIS PROBLEM AND BEING 165 MILES FROM HOME I HAD A BIG EYE OPENER ON HOW RUDE, UNCOOPERATIVE, UNCARING AND TOTALLY UNHELPFUL I FOUND CORPORATION TO BE. READ THE DETAILS OF MY PAST WEEKEND AND DAIMLER CHRYSLER SEE HOW DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY THIS PROBLEM CAN BE UNLESS DAIMLER CHRYSLER CORPORATION CORRECTS IT! I ALMOST FORGOT TO MENTION THAT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A WARRANTED PART IT TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY EXPENSIVE PROBLEM FOR ME AS WELL. *NM
WHILE FILLING MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER WITH GAS, IT ALWAYS SPILLS FUEL WHEN THE TANK IS FULL INSTEAD OF SHUTTING OFF. FUEL SPILLS DOWN THE REAR QUARTERPANEL OF THE JEEP AND ONTO THE GROUND, MANY TIMES FUEL SPRAYS BACK ONTO ME, MY HANDS AND MY CLOTHES. THIS OCCURS ANY TIME I LET THE TANK FILL COMPLETELY FULL AND THE PUMP STOP ITSELF. *TR
WHEN REFUELING THE GASOLINE TANK WILL OVERFLOW SPILLING UPWARDS OF A QUART OF GASOLINE ON THE OPERATOR,(IN EYES AND ON CLOTHS) THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. GASOLINE IS HIGHLY FLAMABLE! THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP WRANGLERS OF THE 2005 AND 2006 MODELS HAPPENING TO EVERY SINGLE OWNER I HAVE TALKED TO.IN OREGON WE DO NOT PUMP OUR OWN GAS AND THE STATION EMPLOYEES SAYS "IT HAPPENS WITH ALL THESE JEEPS" WHEN I GO OUT OF STATE AND PUMP MY OWN GAS IT ALLWAYS SPLASHES OUT GETTING GAS EVERYWHERE. THIS IS A WIDELY COMMEN PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND I CANT BELIVE IT HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO GO ON THIS LONG WITH OUT BEING ADDRESS AS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN FUELING YOUR CAR AND GETTING SPILLED GAS EVERYWHERE. *JS
EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK FULLY, SINCE NEW, THIS VEHICLE HAS OVERFILLED AND SPILLED APPROXIMATELY 0.3 GALLONS OF FUEL. I HAVE TWO FRIENDS WITH 05-06 JEEP WRANGLERS WITH THE SAME FUEL FILLER NECK, BOTH HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER IS UNWILLING TO REPAIR AT A REASONABLE COST, BUT IT IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT IS DANGEROUS TO THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT. *TR
CHECK VALVE FAILS CAUSING FUEL TO SPILL OR "SPIT BACK" ONTO THE GROUND OR THE PERSON REFUELING THE VEHICLE. *TR
MODEL: 2006 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON WITH 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING STALL AND DURING THE TRANSITION FROM REVERSE TO 1ST GEAR THE CLUTCH PEDAL LOST ITS CONNECTION TO THE CLUTCH MECHANISM. THE PEDAL WAS FREE TO SWING WITH NO RESISTANCE AT ALL. THERE WAS A LOUD "POP" FROM UNDER THE DASH. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BY BY-PASSING THE CLUTCH INTERLOCK SWITCH AND STARTING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR. THE VEHICLE HAD EXACTLY 74 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. *NM
BETWEEN THE SPEED 50 AND 60 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES ARE USED THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY. I HAVE HAD 2 NEW SETS OF ROTORS PUT ON THE CAR AND THE ROTORS RE-CUT TWICE, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *JB
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME TANK IS FILLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN A ROAD BUMP WAS DRIVEN OVER OR WHEN THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE WOULD WOBBLE ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT END STABILIZER AND SHOCKS, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK WITH FUEL, THE FUEL SPLASHES OUT GOING OVER ME, MY FENDERS, SIDE OF JEEP AND THE GROUND. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.AND JEEP SHOULD BE LIABLE. GOD FORBID IF THIS CAUSED A FATALITY.
CONSUMER COMPLAINT CONCERNING 2006 WRANGLER CLUTCH PEDAL PUSHROD. *TS THE CONSUMER WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY GETTING AN APPOINTMENT FROM THE DEALER THAT WAS CLOSEST TO HIM BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FRO SOME WHERE ELSE. THE CONSUMER HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALER THE WAS 50 MILES AWAY TO GET THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED. *JB
