JEEP VIOLENTLY POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE L. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. FROM DOING RESEARCH ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE WHO OWN THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION JEEP MODEL. THIS CAN BE EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS WHEN GOING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS OR CHANGING LANES AS THE JEEP WILL POP OUT IF GEAR AND NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE DAY ONE OF ME PURCHASING IT.
I TOOK MY WIFE'S 2007 JEEP WRANGLER JK (4 DOOR AUTOMATIC) TO COURTHOUSE SHELL HERE LOCALLY TO GET THE STATE INSPECTION DONE (MY FIRST TIME FOR THIS SINCE PURCHASING IT ON JULY 1ST 2012 FROM CHECKERED FLAG TOYOTA IN GREENBRIER). I RECEIVED A CALL SAYING THAT THE HORN DID NOT WORK, WHAT DID I WANT TO DO? MY WIFE HAD SAID THAT IT HAD BEEN WORKING THE PREVIOUS WEEK. WELL, I SAID THAT I WANT IT FIXED. THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THAT THE FUSE IN THE FUSE-BOX WAS NOT GETTING ANY POWER AND THEY NEEDED MORE TIME TO TROUBLESHOOT IT, SO THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT, THEY THEN INCORRECTLY SAID IT WAS A SIMPLE RELAY WHICH THEY WOULD ORDER AND RECEIVE LATER THAT SECOND DAY, AND THEY FINALLY FIGURED OUT THAT THE AIR BAG AND THE HORN WERE INCAPACITATED DUE TO A FAULTY $269 AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY WHICH HAD TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED FROM A DEALERSHIP, SO THEY ENDED KEEPING IT OVER THE WEEKEND, THE STEERING WHEEL HAD BEEN DISASSEMBLED AND WOULD COST MORE IN LABOR TO REASSEMBLE. ANOTHER OPTION GIVEN THAT HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT HE COULD RUN A JUMPER WIRE TO A PUSHBUTTON SWITCH TO MAKE THE HORN WORK BUT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT BE GUARANTEED TO FUNCTION AS NEEDED IN AN ACCIDENT. I MADE THE SAFE DECISION TO HAVE THEM REPLACE THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY. I WAS QUITE UPSET THOUGH TO HAVE TO DISH OUT $389.75 TOTAL FOR PARTS AND LABOR. I HAVE THE RECEIPT TO SHOW IT IN THE EVENT THAT JEEP EVER DECIDES TO RECALL THAT FLIMSY AND UNSAFE ASSEMBLY. THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY COMPLAINTS LODGED REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE ONLINE. CONSIDERING THAT THIS ISSUE NOT ONLY AFFECTS THE HORN BUT ALSO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WHICH WAS UNKNOWINGLY DISABLED FOR A WEEK OR SO, THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER SHOULD ALWAYS BE PARAMOUNT. THANK GOD THAT MY WIFE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT, THE AIRBAG WOULD MOST LIKELY NOT HAVE DEPLOYED. I WILL BE TAKING THIS UP WITH JEEP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ROUGHLY 60-65MPH ON HIGHWAY 5 FROM SAN DIEGO TO LA THE FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL OF MY VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AFTER DRIVING OVER ROUGH PAVEMENT. I DECREASED SPEED FROM 60-65MPH TO ROUGHLY 30-40 MPH PAYING ATTENTION TO TRAFFIC AS I VEERED FROM THE 2ND FAST LANE TO THE SHOULDER. THE VIOLENT SHAKING CONTINUED AS I PULLED THE VEHICLE TO SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY UNTIL I REACHED A SPEED OF ABOUT 15-20MPH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO 2 DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERSHIPS; ONE IN SAN DIEGO AND ONE IN LA. THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I REPLACED THE SHOCKS, TIRES, AND DAMPER ALONG WITH MULTIPLE ALIGNMENTS AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I'M SO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT THAT I RENTED A CAR.
ALL HINGES INCLUDING DOORS AND HOOD ARE FAILING DUE TO GALVANIC CORRISION. *TR
FAULTY CLOCKSPRING CAUSING MULTIPLE LIGHTS TO BE ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH. ALSO HAVE TO HAVE THE STEERING ANGLES SENSOR REPLACED WITH THE CLOCK SPRING. *TR
2007 JEEP WRANGLER, WIPERS FAIL OR ONLY OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY DURING MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY SHIFTED OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THE "DEATH WOBBLE." WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ABOUT 65 MPH, I CROSSED OVER A BRIDGE AND WHEN MY FRONT TIRES GOT TO THE EDGE OF THE BRIDGE ON I-65, MY JEEP BEGAN SHAKING ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT 5 TIMES NOW IN THE LAST YEAR AND I ASSUMED IT WAS TIRE, SHOCK, OR ALIGNMENT ISSUES. NEW TIRES AND SHOCKS AND FRONT END ALIGNED. NOTHING DIFFERENT! *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHILE CHANGING LANES. THE CAR STARTED SHAKING VERY VIOLENTLY. I HAS TO PULL OFF THE ROAD SLOWING TO ABOUT 40 MPH IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STOP THE SHAKING. WHEN THE SHAKING STARTS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY IT IS HARD TO STEER OR EVEN FOCUS ON THE ROAD BECAUSE YOU ARE SHAKING TOO. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN TO JEEP DEALERSHIPS ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS AND THEY ALL TELL ME THE SUSPENSION IS FINE. FINALLY THIS LAST TIME, AFTER COMPLAINING OF THE "DEATH SHAKE" AS I HAVE COME TO RESEARCH AND DISCOVER, THEY WERE ABLE TO PUT A LARGER STEERING DAMPENER ON MY VEHICLE THAN WAS THERE IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE SHAKING. I STILL FEEL VIBRATIONS AT EXPRESSWAY SPEEDS BUT IT IS NOT VIOLENT SHAKING ANYMORE. THIS REPAIR COST OVER $250. *TT
THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT LOCATIONS WHEN FUELING THAT THE PUMP WILL STOP AND THEN WITHIN SECONDS AFTERWARDS GASOLINE SHOOTS OUT ALL OVER THE VEHICLE THE GROUND AND WHOMEVER IS PUMPING THE FUEL. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND DANGEROUS. *TR
OVER TIME THE STOCK L/F TIRE RUBBED THROUGH THE BRAKE LINE CAUSING THE L/F CALIPER TO LOCK UP WEARING DOWN THE L/F BRAKE PADS AND OVERHEATING THE ROTOR. THE BRAKE HOSE, CALIPER , BRAKE PADS AND FRONT BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC LOOK AT THIS AND HE BELIEVES IT IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN ON THE VEHICLE. THE STOCK L/F TIRE SHOULD NEVER TOUCH THE BRAKE LINE WITHIN THE TURNING RADIUS OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T TRAVEL VERY FAR WITH THE CALIPER LOCKED ON THE WHEEL, IT COULD OF LED TO A FIRE. CHRYSLER DID NOT CLAIM ANY FAULT AND CHARGED ME FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE FOUND OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS POSTED ONLINE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH, AND HIT THE SMALLEST BUMP THE JEEP SHAKE OUT OF CONTROL. HAPPENED 5 TIMES TODAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH OVER A ROAD BUMP, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE SHAKING WOULD CEASE ONCE THE CONTACT DECELERATED TO LOWER SPEEDS. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE, WHO STATED THAT THERE COULD BE NUMEROUS CAUSES FOR THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, CAR EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHAKING. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKES UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED TO AROUND 30 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND ALWAYS PLAYS OUT IN THE SAME MANNER. VERY DANGEROUS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
HIT A POTHOLE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHAKING UNTIL I STOPPED . *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SHOULDER AND WAS POWERED OFF THEN RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE OVER ANY UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE OR A ROAD BUMP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED UNTIL THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER BAR AND THE STEEL POWER STEERING LINES THAT WERE CRACKED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,900 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000. UPDATED 4/2/13 *CN UPDATED 4/11/13 *CN AN INSPECTION REVEALED BOTH STEERING LINES WERE CRACKS BY THE SHIMMYING AND THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKED OUT.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN EXCESS OF 70MPH WHEN I HIT A VERY MINOR IMPERFECTION IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO SHAKE/HOP AND STEERING BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE I NEARLY CAUSED A MAJOR PILE UP ON I-35. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AND I'VE OWNED THE CAR VERY LITTLE TIME. LUCKILY I GAINED CONTROL BEFORE A CATASTROPHIC EVENT HAPPENED. THIS IS 100% A JEEP DESIGN FLAW IT IS REFERRED TO AS "DEATH WOBBLE" AND NO IF ANDS OR BUTS; THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. ALL WE AS BUYERS ASK IS TO BE PUT IN A SAFE AND FUNCTIONAL VEHICLE. MY CHILD HAS TO RIDE IN THIS CAR. THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER THE NATION. IT IS NOT OK FOR THIS TO GO ON ANY LONGER. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE LIVES ARE AT STAKE. IS THAT NOT IMPORTANT ANYMORE? WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GAS, PUMP DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AND GAS SPILLS OUT. I HAVE TO TRY AND LISTEN FOR THE FUEL TO COME UP THE FILL PIPE BUT IT IS DIFFICULT TO GAUGE AND HEAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS WELL AS COSTLY. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE HAD/HEARD OF THAT HAS THIS ISSUE. I KNOW OTHER JEEP JK OWNERS WHO ALSO EXPERIENCE THIS. *TR
EXPERIENCED "DEATH WOBBLE" WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY BETWEEN 50 AND 65 MPH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES ON SEVERAL HOUR CROSS STATE TRIP. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY TO DRIVER AND PASSENGERS AS THERE WERE VEHICLES ALL AROUND US ON THE HIGHWAY. FIRST REACTION WAS TO SLAM ON BRAKES WHICH AGAIN, VERY SCARY AS WE WERE ON HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT A 60 MPH. *TR
DRIVING MY STOCK 2007 JEEP WRANGLER ON I-77 IN CHARLESTON WV AT 65MPH. STARTED ROUNDING A LEFT HAND CURVE IN THE ROAD WHEN I HIT SOME MINOR BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE STARTED BOUNCING AND SHAKING VIOLENTLY NEARLY CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW AND PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE SHAKE WENT AWAY AT ABOUT 15-20 MPH. I THOUGHT FOR SURE A WHEEL WAS COMING OFF. I SLOWED MY SPEED BUT THIS STILL HAPPENED THREE MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO ROYAL JEEP IN CHARLESTON WHERE I HAD TO LEAVE IT AND RENT A CAR FOR THE NIGHT. AFTER DESCRIBING THE INCIDENT TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED IT SOUND LIKE A BAD STEERING DAMPER SHOCK AND STATED THAT HE HAS DEALT WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY TO A TUNE OF $205.00 PLUS THE RENTAL CAR($64.00) AND DROVE BACK TO CLEVELAND OH WITHOUT ANOTHER INCIDENT. MARK BY WORD, SOMEONE WILL DIE SOMEDAY IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT CORRECTED QUICKLY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE SPEEDOMETER SEIZED. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V291000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,400.
WHEN FUELING VEHICLE, FUEL SPITS BACK AND OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME NEARING FULL TANK. ALSO SETS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT P0440. POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, HE SAW THAT THE FUSE BOX WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY, FEELS LIKE A FLAT TIRE OR A LOOSE WHEEL. STOPPED & CHECKED TIRES, FOUND NOTHING WRONG. GOT BACK IN VEHICLE AND DROVE. THIS HAS HAPPEN AT LEAST 2 OTHER TIMES. I BELIEVE IT IS CALLED A DEATH WOBBLE. WAS PRETTY SCARY. *TR

WHEN FILLING TANK THE AUTO CUTOFFF DOES NOT WORK ON TANK AND FUEL OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS/SPRAYS. *TR
EVERY TIME I PUMP GAS NOW, THE PUMP WILL STOP AND THEN DISCHARGE A FAIRLY LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS. PROBABLY AROUND A HALF GALLON. I FEEL THAT WITH THESE DISCHARGE OF GAS BEING EVERY TIME I FILL UP IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED IN TO. IF THERE IS EVER A SPARK WHEN IT DISCHARGES IT WILL INDEFINITELY CAUSE A FIRE THAT HAS THE LIKELY HOOD OF CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH TO ME AND WHOEVER ELSE IS AROUND WHEN IT HAPPENS. ALSO, I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT ONLY MY JEEP THAT IS HAVING THE PROBLEM. MY FRIENDS JEEP DOES THE SAME THING. HE TOLD ME THAT ONE TIME THE PUMP DID NOT STOP AND GAS WAS SHOOTING FROM HIS GAS TANK. *TR
FIRST OCCURRENCE DEC 6TH 2012, BACKING OUT OF AN INCLINED DRIVEWAY. VEHICLE SEEMED AS IF IT HAD NO POWER, STALLED, SPITTING AND SPUTTERING LIKE IT WAS STARVING FOR GAS. FINALLY GOT IT OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND WAS ABOUT 15 MILES FROM CLOSEST JEEP DEALERSHIP IN OCALA FL, AND NURSED IT THERE, SPITTING AND SPUTTERING AND STALLING THE WHOLE TRIP. LEFT IT OVERNIGHT AND GOT A CALL THE NEXT DAY WHERE THEY HAD FOUND THE PROBLEM AND A COUPLE OF OTHER THINGS WRONG (UNRELATED TO THE PROBLEM) I APPROVED THE FIXES AND AFTER $677.00 LATER DROVE OFF THE LOT. THE ONLY THING I CAN SEE ON THE INVOICE THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM IS A LINE THAT READS "CLEANER-FUELSYSTEM" AND HAS A $59.00 PART AND A $106.00 LABOR CHARGE. ON JANUARY 13TH 2013 IT STARTS ACTING UP AGAIN. I TAKE IT BACK TO SAME DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND COMPLAIN THAT I'M NOT GOING TO COME IN EVERY MONTH AND PAY A $90.00 DIAGNOSTICS FEE FOR SOMETHING THEY SAID WAS FIXED. SO THEY PLUG IT IN AND THE CODE TELLS THEM I WAS RUNNING "LEAN" HOWEVER THEY HAVE NO IDEA THIS TIME WHAT'S WRONG. AND OF COURSE IT'S NOT DOING IT SO THEY "CAN'T FIX WHAT'S NOT BROKE". BETWEEN JAN AND JULY IT HAS DONE THIS MANY TIMES, IN THE BEGINNING IT WAS ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH BUT NOW WILL DO IT ALMOST EVERY TRIP. WHEN IT STALLS COMPLETELY I LOOSE PS & PB, VERY DANGEROUS. IT SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO LONGER TRIPS, 1-2 HOURS. BUT SOMETIMES WILL HAPPEN AFTER BEING ON THE ROAD FOR 15 MINUTES. THE STALLING AT 50 MPH AND LOOSING PS & PB IS THE MOST CONCERNING IN TRAFFIC. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, HE NOTICED VIOLENT SHAKING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC PERFORMED A FRONTAL ALIGNMENT, WHEEL BALANCE AND REPLACED THE STABILIZER BAR. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000. *TR
EXPERIENCED JEEP WRANGLER'S DEATH WOBBLE...MY VEHICLE SHOOK SO BAD I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE WRANGLER'S I HAD TO APPLY MY BRAKES AT SPEEDS OF 55 MPH EST. WHILE ON INTERSTATE 80 IN NEW JERSEY ALMOST CAUSING A MULTIPLY VEHICLES CRASH. JUST LEFT DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO VERIFY MY CONCERNS. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK, FUEL WILL OVERFLOW OUT OF THE FILLING TUBE, THUS CAUSING SEVERAL OUNCES OF FUEL TO SPILL OUT. THUS COATING THE SIDE OF MY JEEP AS WELL AS THE GROUP WITH HIGHLY FLAMMABLE GASOLINE. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER HOW FAST OR SLOW THE TANK IS FILLED, IT OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME. GAS ALSO CONTAINS AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS SUCH AS BENZENE, TOLUENE, ETHYLBENZENE, AND XYLENES (BTEX) THESE CHEMICALS ARE HARMFUL TO BOTH HUMANS AND THE ENVIRONMENT. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE STEERING SHOCK WAS REPLACED, BUT DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH GASOLINE, FUEL WOULD SPILL OUT OF THE TANK. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
RH FRONT SEAT THE AIRBAG ALARM SHUTS OFF AND TURNS ON ALL THE TIME. FAULTY ALARM THE DEALER WANTS 300.00 DOLLARS TO FIX. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN JEEP WRANGLERS, THAT TELLS ME IT'S A FAULTY ALARM THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE I-64 HOV, I EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHAKING COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE." IT COMPLETELY SCARED ME. THIS IS MY 7TH JEEP - PURCHASED AS USED WITH 65279 MILES ON IT. WITHIN A WEEK FROM PURCHASE THE TRANSMISSION POPPED OUT OF 1ST GEAR WHILE STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP. VERY LOUD AND STARTLING AND I THOUGHT IT WAS ME BEING NOT USED TO THIS VEHICLE. NO FURTHER INCIDENTS FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN CAUSING ME SUDDENLY STOP WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND NEARLY GETTING T-BONED. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I BEGAN TO TALK WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS AND FOUND THIS WAS, AND STILL IS, AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH JEEP WRANGLERS FROM 2007-CURRENT. FURTHER RESEARCH ON MY PART LED TO FINDING A TSB #21-001-10 REV A DATED 4-20-2010. THIS POPPING OUT OF GEAR HAPPENS VERY SPORADICALLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, HAS CAUSED ME TO NEARLY BECOME IN AN ACCIDENT (T-BONE OR REAR ENDED) BY THE SUDDEN, ALMOST EXPLOSIVE STOP ONE MAKES WHEN IT HAPPENS. ABOUT A MONTH AGO THIS BEGAN TO SLOWLY HAPPEN MORE OFTEN - TO THE POINT THAT I GOT IN THE HABIT OF HOLDING THE TRANSMISSION IN 1ST GEAR SO IT WOULD NOT POP OUT. WHEN I HAD THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM FOR ROUTINE SERVICE, I ASKED THE SERVICE TECH. ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THIS POPPING OUT BEGAN TO HAPPEN AS OFTEN AS 3 TIMES A DAY RESULTING IN MORE "CLOSE CALLS" AND, TSB IN HAND, I SCHEDULED THE PROBLEM TO BE CORRECTED AT THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THIS IS A $1200.00 REPAIR AND, AFTER THE WARRANTY PAYMENT, I WILL OWE ABOUT $400.00. THIS REALLY IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR SOME TIME AND, I THINK MERITS FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY YOU FOLKS. I SEE RECALLS FOR THE WRANGLER FOR THINGS LIKE FLOOR MATS AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SENSORS WHICH "MAY" CAUSE AN ACCIDENT - THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR SOME TIME TO THE MANUFACTURER AND DOCUMENTED BY TSB REFERENCED ABOVE. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON 11/1/12 DRIVING AT 60 MPH. WHILE DRIVING OUT OF NO WHERE THE JEEP'S FRONT END STARTED SHAKING OUT OF CONTROL. IT FELT LIKE THE FRONT END WAS ABOUT TO FALL OFF.. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE JEEP AT THIS POINT SO I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES AND SLOWED THE VEHICLE TO ABOUT 20 MPH BEFORE THE SHAKING STOPPED. TODAY I TOOK IT IN TO A LOCAL ALIGNMENT SHOP SO THEY CAN DIAGNOSE IT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WHOLE FRONT STEERING ASSEMBLY IS ABOUT SHOT! THEY SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT THE MOST WEAR WAS ON THE TIE RODS AND FRONT TRACK BAR IN WHICH WILL CAUSE THE GEOMETRY OF THE STEERING TO BE THROWN OFF. THEY CALLED IT THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AND THAT IT WAS COMMON IN THESE JEEPS. I TRULY THINK THAT JEEP NEEDS TO OPEN A RECALL FOR THESE PARTS ( FRONT TRACK BAR/ TIE ROD ASSEMBLY) BEFORE SOME ONE IS KILLED! I DO NOT WANT TO THINK ABOUT WHAT WOULD OF HAPPENED IF I DIDN'T GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE YESTERDAY. I COULD OF CAUSED A PILE UP AND KILLED SOMEONE IF NOT MYSELF ON I5.. THE WOBBLE DOESN'T STOP UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS SLOWED DRASTICALLY, STEERING IS DIFFICULT WHILE THE WOBBLE IS OCCURING. IS THIS A RECALL ITEM? MANUFACTURE REIMBURSEMENT?
