THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG IS NOT FUNCTIONING DUE TO A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING!!! I ACTUALLY OWN 3 2008'S AND ALL HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE!!! THIS IS A COMMONLY KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ALL JEEP JK'S, YET CHRYSLER IS SIMPLY IGNORING THIS ISSUE AFTER RECALLING 2007 AND 2008 RHD'S!! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I RECEIVED NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER OTHER THAN "WE WILL NOTIFY YOU IF A RECALL IS MADE". THEY COULD PROVIDE ME WITH ZERO INFORMATION ABOUT HOW MANY PEOPLE HAD THIS EXACT ISSUE. HERE'S THEIR MAILING ADDRESS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LET THEM KNOW YOU DISAGREE WITH THIS BLATANT LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY ON THEIR PART. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE STARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
BAD CLOCK SPRING CAUSING SRS AIRBAG LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. 2007 MODELS WERE RECALLED HOWEVER, NO BULLETINS WERE SENT FOR '08 MODELS.
I HAD JUST DRIVEN ABOUT 1/2 MILE AND PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, WENT INSIDE, TOOK A SHOWER AND GONE TO BED. ABOUT 30 MIN LATER I WAKE UP HEARING POPPING OUTSIDE, MY JEEP WAS FULLY ENGULFED. THE FIRE APPEARED TO HAVE STARTED IN THE COMPARTMENT AREA OR FROM UNDER THE FLOORBOARDS. MY INSURANCE COMPANY HANDLED THE CLAIM BUT AFTER SEEING ALL THESE OTHER COMMENTS SAYING PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY CHRYSLER IS NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I PURCHASED A USED JEEP THAT HAD FLOOR MATS THAT I FOUND OUT HAD A SAFETY RECALL THAT STATED THE HOLE THAT IS USED TO HOOK FLOOR MATS TO THE FLOOR BOARD COULD TEAR CAUSING GAS PEDAL TO STICK CAUSING A CRASH. WHEN I CONTACTED THEM THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL ONLY FIX THE ISSUE IF I WAS THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF THE FLOOR MAT. THEN IN A FOLLOW UP EMAIL THEY STATED THAT THE WARRANTY ONLY APPLIES TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE FELT EXTREMELY HOT THROUGH THE CONSOLE. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A POLICE AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
I STARTED MY WRANGLER AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND NEVER WENT OFF, IT HAS EFFECTED USE OF MY HORN AS WELL
2 WEEKS AGO MY FRONT PASSENGER BRAKE CALIPER SEIZED WHILE DRIVING. IT SMOKED AND WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS I LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER SAFELY. I HAD TO REPLACE THE CALIPER, PADS AND RESURFACE THE ROTOR. YESTERDAY MY REAR DRIVER-SIDE CALIPER FAILED WHILE DRIVING LOCALLY. I ONLY HAVE 38K MILES ON THIS JEEP AND DO NOT DRIVE OFF-ROAD. JEEP IS PRISTINE, WELL MAINTAINED AND USED SPARINGLY. SEARCHING NHTSA DATABASE I SAW SEVERAL SIMILAR REPORTS AND ALL REPORTED PROBLEMS INVOLVED 2008 JEEP WRANGLER, HOWEVER NO RECALL OR TSB?!? HOW MANY REPORTS DOES NHTSA NEED TO CONNECT THE DOTS HERE? I'M SO THANKFUL MY DAUGHTER WASN'T DRIVING, AS SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECOVER THE VEHICLE DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 37 YEARS & NEVER HAD A VEHICLE HAVE A SINGLE CALIPER FAILURE AND NOW IT'S HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN TWO WEEKS ON THE SAME VEHICLE. CLOCK SPRING IS BROKEN, CAUSING HORN AND AIRBAG TO BE INOPERABLE. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON ROAD AND SUBJECTED TO NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. REQUESTING NHTSA CONSIDER A RECALL FOR LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES SIMILAR TO NHTSA RECALL 11V-528, (SAME YEAR AND MODEL ONLY RHD.) *TR
ON OR AROUND THE 15 APRIL 2015 WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT THE HORN AND THE WIPER AS WELL AS THE WASHER BEGAN TO RANDOMLY GO OFF AND EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY UNATTENDED. I HAD TO PHYSICALLY REMOVE THE HORN CONNECTION TO KEEP THE HORN FROM SOUNDING AT INOPPORTUNE TIMES AND POSSIBLY DISTRACTING THE DRIVERS AROUND ME AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE WIPER TO THIS DAY STILL START TO RANDOMLY MOVE AND THE WASHER SQUIRTS AT ANY RANDOM TIME. THE HORN REMAINS UNHOOKED AT THIS TIME. THE TIPM MODULE IS SUSPECT IN THIS VEHICLE FOR REPAIR. *TR
DEATH WOBBLE, UNEVEN SURFACE OR SLIGHT BUMP IN ROAD SUCH AS AN EXPANSION JOINT ON ENTRANCE OR EXIT TO BRIDGE. IT IS A SCARY THING, GOING NEAR 60 MPH. IT WILL START THE WOBBLE AND EVERYTHING SHAKES VIOLENTLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPS. LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN ON 4 LANE ROADS WHEN THIS HAS OCCURRED. ONE TIME IT THREW ME OFF OF HIGHWAY INTO DITCH. THERE HAS TO BE FATALITIES RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM? MY PERSONAL MECHANIC HAS LOOKED AT STEERING COMPONENTS AND HAS STATED THAT ALL STEERING PARTS ARE GOOD OR WITHIN SPECIFICATION. I HAVE DODGE DEALER THAT IS GOING TO LOOK AT IT TOMORROW. THEY SAID LOOK AND THEY WILL SAY LETS TRY THIS PART. I REPLACED 2 BOLTS THAT HOLD TRACK BAR ON WITH LARGE SHOULDER TO FILL UP LARGE FACTORY BOLT HOLE. FACTORY BOLT HOLES LOOK UNDERSIZED? REPLACED TRACK BAR BUSHINGS. IT RUN FOR 2000 MILES WITHOUT A DEATH WOBBLE. AND THEN IT HAS STARTED AGAIN. LAST 15,0000 MILES IT HAS FELT VERY LOOSE IN THE STEERING. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE !!! *TR

THE CONTACT HEARD THE SOUND, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT VISIBLE UNLESS SOMEONE WAS TRAVELING BEHIND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AXLE HOUSING AND THE CV JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AXLE SHAFTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE AXLE SHAFT BEING BENT. THERE WAS ALSO A PRESENCE OF A LEAK. THE SEAL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,350.
WHEN TURNING I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING AND THE ABS, ESP, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS AND ALSO THE BRAKE LIGHT COME ON. MY SON DRIVES THIS VEHICLE ALSO AND I AM AFRAID THE AIR BAG IS GOING TO DEPLOY. *TR
I STARTED MY CAR TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND HEARD THE CHIME AND NOTICED MY AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON AND SHE WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR HER OR ANYONE ELSE TO BE SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I DROVE HER TO SCHOOL AND THE LIGHT AND CHIME WOULD GO OFF AND ON RANDOMLY. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING AND THAT IT'S GOING TO COST ME $500 TO REPLACE. NEEDLESS TO SAY I DID NOT HAVE IT REPAIRED YESTERDAY DUE TO BEING A SINGLE MOTHER ON A FIXED INCOME AND THAT COSTS IS MORE THAN THE PAYMENT I MAKE EVERY MONTH FOR THE CAR. I NOTICED THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2007 WRANGLERS AND 2008 WRANGLERS RIGHT HAND (RHD), MAINLY POST OFFICE VEHICLES TO FIX THIS EXACT PROBLEM AND FIND IT ODD THAT THE ONLY PEOPLE LEFT OUT OF THIS RECALL ISSUE IS THOSE OF US WHO HAVE (LHD), IS THERE A REASON FOR THIS DECISION? EITHER THIS IS A SAFETY VIOLATION THAT WE ALL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN, NOT JUST THE 2008 GOVERNMENT OBTAINED VEHICLES, OR IT IS NOT, THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE PEOPLE. *TR

AIRBAG LIGHT AND WARNING BELL GOES ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED CONCERN AND POINTS TOWARDS SAFETY ISSUES EXTENDING FROM NON WORKING AIR BAGS TO A DRIVER DISTRACTION. THIS PROBLEM ALSO SEEMS TO BE INDICATIVE OF CHRYSLER'S QUALITY CONTROL AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED IT IS EQUIPPED WITH A FAULTY/DEFECTIVE SPRING. THE AIRBAG WILL NOT INFLATE DURING AN ACCIDENT.

ON MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING." THIS JEEP HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A ISSUE. HAVE BEEN TO SHOPS FOR A YEAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WONT STAY OFF, WHEELS SHAKE AT CERTAIN SPEEDS, OVER HEATS, RADIATOR ISSUES, YOU NAME IT. THE DEALER WOULD NOT COVER ANYTHING AND WENT OUT OF BUSINESS SHORTLY AFTER. THIS JEEP IS A LEMON. THERE HAS TO BE RECALLS ON THIS. JEEP IS CURRENTLY AT GARAGE AGAIN AND THEY ARE SAYING POSSIBLE COMPUTER ISSUES AGAIN MAYBE 02 YADA. CAME OUT OF GROCERY STORE THE OTHER NIGHT AND THE JEEP WOULD NOT START. NOT THE BATTERY. AGAIN THE GARAGE CALLED AND SAID IT MAY BE A ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE SECURITY OF THE VEHICLE. JUST HAD NEW PLUGS AND WIRES INSTALLED. THIS IS ABSURD AND THERE SHOULD BE RECALLS ON THESE JEEPS. THERE IS DEFINITELY SAFETY CONCERNS!!!!!!!! HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET THE ENGINE LIGHT OFF AS PREVIOUSLY STATED AND THUS STILL CANT GET A INSPECTION GOING ON A YEAR! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK UP GAS SPILLS, SHOOTS OUT EVERYWHERE AT LEAST A FEW GALLONS OF GAS IS NOT JUST WASTED BUT ALL OVER ME, THE JEEP AND THE GROUND. *TR
I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN A PAVED RESIDENTIAL ROAD ON A SLIGHT DECLINE ABOUT 40 MPH AND IT STARTED WOBBLING AND SHAKING THE ENTIRE CAR. I FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO LOSE CONTROL AND COULDN'T SWERVE OVER SINCE THERE WAS TRAFFIC. I APPLIED THE BRAKES LIGHTLY, BUT NOT TOO MUCH SINCE THERE WAS OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME THAT I DIDN'T WANT TO SLAM INTO ME FROM BEHIND IF I SUDDENLY BRAKED TOO HARD. EVEN WHILE APPLYING BRAKES THE JEEP WAS STILL WOBBLING VIOLENTLY. VIOLENTLY! SERIOUSLY THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO CAUSE A WRECK. FINALLY THE JEEP STOPPED WOBBLING WHERE I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED IF MY TIRES WERE LOSE OR ANYTHING. EVERYTHING WAS FINE ON THE OUTSIDE. WHEN I CAME HOME I WANTED TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS ISSUE, AND TURNS OUT IT EVEN HAS A NAME CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". MY JEEP IS A 2008, WITH 40,000 MILE. THIS JEEP IS RARELY USED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. NOT ONLY THE WRANGLER, BUT MANY OTHER VEHICLES AS WELL. CHRYSLER SEEMS TO DENY THAT ANY ISSUES EXIST CONCERNING THE "DEATH WOBBLE". PLEASE HELP. *TR

OVER THE LAST MONTH OR SO, THE AIR BAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AT RANDOM TIMES. SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT COME ON AT ALL AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL GO ON AND STAY ON. ALSO, OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS, I'VE NOTICED A 'SHAKING' WHILE DRIVING, STARTING AROUND 50MPH. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN OUT OF THE BLUE THE JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, I HAD A SEMI RIGHT BEHIND ME HAULING A GAS TANKER. FORTUNATELY FOR ME I WAS TRAVELING IN THE SPEED LANE WHICH IS ADJACENT TO THE EMERGENCY RUN OFF THE LANE. I LET MY FOOT OF THE GAS AND ROLLED/TREMBLING OFF THE HIGHWAY INTO THE EMG LANE TILL I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER CATCHING MY BREATH AND MY HEART. I PROCEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR TO CHECK AND SEE IF THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE FRONT END AXLE. I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING PROBLEM SO GOT BACK IN THE JEEP AND DROVE OFF. I DROVE ABOUT ANOTHER 50 MILES THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT ANY SPEED. SO A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER I TOOK THE JEEP IN TO SEE MY SERVICE ADVISOR AT PLANET DODGE IN DORAL, FL. AFTER A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SYMPTOMS AND WHAT HAPPENED, THE SERVICE ADVISOR CALMLY SAID IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM CALLED "THE DEATH WOBBLE". SO I AM NOW HAVING TO DROP OFF THIS JEEP IN ORDER TO GET A DIAGNOSIS AND HAVE THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. I HOPE IT NEVER HAPPENS TO ANYONE; ESPECIALLY MY MOTHER WHO OFTEN DRIVES THE JEEP. THIS IS A VERY VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE ACCIDENT AND MAY EVEN CAUSE FATALITIES. THERE NEEDS TO BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED AGAINST THE MANUFACTURER. I WAS TRAVELING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN OUT OF THE BLUE THE JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, I HAD A SEMI RIGHT BEHIND ME HAULING A GAS TANKER. FORTUNATELY FOR ME I WAS TRAVELING IN THE SPEED LANE WHICH IS ADJACENT TO THE EMERGENCY RUN OFF THE LANE. I LET MY FOOT OF THE GAS AND ROLLED/TREMBLING OFF THE HIGHWAY INTO THE EMG LANE TILL I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER CATCHING MY BREATH AND MY HEART. I PROCEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR TO CHECK AND SEE IF THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE FRONT END AXLE. I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING PROBLEM SO GOT BACK IN THE JEEP AND DROVE OFF. I DROVE ABOUT ANOTHER 50 MILES THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT ANY SPEED. SO A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER I TOOK THE JEEP IN TO SEE MY SERVICE ADVISOR AT PLANET DODGE IN DORAL, FL. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP WAS FLASHING AND REMAINED LIT AS THE FAILURE PROGRESSED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V176000 (AIR BAGS) AND 11V528000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WENT OUT TO VEHICLE TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF IT AND WIPER FLUID WAS SPRAYING THEN WIPERS STARTED MOVING AND HORN STARTED BLOWING. THE KEYS WERE IN MY HAND NOT IN THE IGNITION. THIS CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES NOTHING WE DID WOULD MAKE IT STOP. IT HAS HAPPENED 8 MORE TIMES SINCE THE FIRST TIME. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS DISCONNECT BATTERY. (WHICH WE FOUND THIS OUT AFTER THE 2ND TIME OF IT HAPPENING) THIS HAS HAPPENED GOING DOWN THE ROAD ALONG WITH JUST OPENING THE BACK GATE. IT ACTS LIKE IT HAS GREMLINS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD! WHEN THIS STARTS IT SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF YOU AND YOU HAVE TO FIND THE NEAREST PLACE TO PULL OFF TO DISCONNECT BATTERY TERMINALS.

THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING DAMPENER FAILED. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AND BALANCED, BUT FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

MY AIRBAGS WERE DEACTIVATED DUE TO A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING. THE SAME CLOCKSPRING WAS RECALLED IN THE RHD JEEPS, AND IN THE 2007 JEEPS, BUT THE SAME EXACT CLOCKSPRING ISN'T RECALLED FOR THE 2008 JEEPS. I JUST PAID $540 TO HAVE IT REPLACED SO I COULD PASS STATE INSPECTION. THERE SHOULD BE A WARNING ON ALL NEWER JEEPS: "IF YOU EXPOSE THIS VEHICLE TO ANY DUST, DIRT, WATER, OR ELEMENTS, THE WILL BE EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT FAILURE." --OR-- "NOT DESIGNED FOR OFF ROAD OR TOP DOWN USE". *TR
LEAVING A PARKING LOT ALL MY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BEGAN GOING HAYWIRE (WIPERS CAME ON, WIPER FLUID STARTED SPRAYING, RADIO TURNED ON AND OFF, HEAT TURNED ON AND OFF, HORN WAS BLARING, DOOR LOCKS LOCKING/UNLOCKING AT RANDOM). I REMOVED THE KEYS AND THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE CONTINUED. I BEGAN TO SMELL BURNING PLASTIC AND NOTICED SMOKE/FLAMES COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER OPENING THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THE FUSE BOX WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH A FOUNTAIN DRINK AND A FEW BOTTLES OF WATER FROM BYSTANDERS. THE WIRING HARNESS CONTINUED TO SMOLDER UNTIL THE BATTERY CABLE WAS REMOVED. IT IS NOW IN THE SHOP TO BE REPAIRED AND WILL COST ME 500 DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET FOR MY DEDUCTIBLE. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS INJURED OR KILLED AND THE VEHICLE WASN'T A COMPLETE LOSS. THIS CAR ALSO HAS NO AFTER MARKET MODIFICATIONS. *TR

THE CLOCK SPRING IN MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED HAS GONE BAD AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON. THIS HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE 2007 WRANGLER BUT FROM MY UNDERSTANDING THERE HAVE BEEN MANY DIFFERENT MODEL YEARS THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I WENT THROUGH JEEP AND THEY SAID HEY WOULD NOT COVER IT SO I HAD TO PURCHASE THE PART MYSELF. THE AIRBAG IS SOMETHING I FEEL THEY SHOULD NOT TAKE SO LIGHTLY. IF THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND A PERSON TAKES THE TIME TO CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT IN MY OPINION THEY SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT WARRANTY OR NOT.
ON 4 OCCASIONS, MY HORN AND WINDSHIELD WIPER HAVE SPONTANEOUSLY ACTIVATED. ON THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE, WE WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED BUT LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO CYCLE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND POWER RETURNED TO THE HEADLIGHTS. *TR
THE AIR BAG DASH LIGHT CAME ON, INDICATING A FAULT IN THE AIRBAG SAFETY SYSTEM. THEN THE SEATBELT LIGHT CAME ON EVEN THOUGH THE SEATBELT WAS FASTENED. IT SEEMS THAT WHEN THE DRIVING LIGHTS WERE ON, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT LIGHT AT ALL; AND THE TURN INDICATOR DID A FAST BLINK. THE DEALER BELIEVES THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING HAS A SHORT AND CAUSED THE OTHER ELECTRICAL FAULTS. SO THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE A NON-FUNCTIONAL AIRBAG, AND NO BRAKE LIGHTS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS FAILURE. IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE MODEL ON JEEPS, BUT THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS VIN YET. *TR

JEEP IS SPITTING BACK FUEL DURING FILL UP. CHRYSLER IS TELLING ME THAT MY JEEP IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT OTHER 2008 JEEP WRANGLERS HAVE NOW BEEN GIVEN. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THIS SPITBACK HAPPENING. (INLET CHECK VALVE DEFECT) ONE DEALER SAID IT WAS COVERED BUT CHRYSLER SAYS NO. HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET CHRYSLER TO REPAIR IT FOR 2 YEARS NOW.
