AIR BAG LIGHT IS COMING ON AT VARIOUS TIMES. IT WILL COME ON THEN GO OFF. IT MAKES A CHIMING SOUND. IT DOES THIS WHILE DRIVING WHEN I HIT A HARD BUMP OR TURN THE WHEEL. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. SHOULD THIS NOT BE A SAFETY THING THAT THEY SHOULD FIX FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE? I READ THAT THEY HAVE RECALLED CERTAIN ONES EVEN ONES IN MY YEAR...BUT NOT MY VIN NUMBER FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM! I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IF I WOULD NEED MY AIRBAGS THAT THEY WOULD NOT WORK. I HAVE READ THIS IS A RESULT OF THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDING REPAIR AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET IT FIXED.
HORN GOES ON & STAYS ON, WIPERS GO CONTINUOUSLY, WIPER FLUID FLOWS CONSTANTLY, BACK UP LIGHTS GO ON, HEATER FAN GOES OFF & ON, THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND THE LAST TIME THE ABS CAME ON WHILE I WAS DELIVERING MAIL AND MY BRAKES LOCKED UP. ONCE IT HAPPENED WHILE PARKED ( THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING WITHOUT KEYS), ALL OTHER TIMES I WAS DRIVING ON RURAL ROADS AND IN DEVELOPMENTS, BOTH DRIVING HOME & DELIVERING MAIL. I HAVE VIDEO ON MY PHONE OF THE OCCURRENCE TWO SEPARATE TIMES.
THREE WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON: TWO STABILITY AND ONE AIRBAG. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACT STRANGE AND WON'T TURN OFF. THE CLOCKSPRING NEEDS REPLACED.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUALLY TURNS ON AND OFF IN MY JEEP. THIS IS ACCOMPANIED WITH A CONTINUOUS WARNING PING THAT GOES OFF WHEN YOU ARE ALMOST OUT OF GAS OR NEED SOMETHING CHECKED ASAP. THIS IS PROBABLY BECAUSE THE AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. 2007 JEEPS HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS AND IT IS A FAULTY COIL SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. LOOKING ON ANY FORUM SITE OR EVEN THIS ONE AND YOU WILL SEE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. JEEP TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO GET THIS FIXED UNTIL A RECALL IS ISSUED. CONSIDERING MY JEEP AND MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS OCCUR WELL BEFORE 100K MILES THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE PART THAT THEY ARE PUTTING INTO THE CARS.
WITHOUT WARNING ... HORN STARTS BLOWING, WINDSHIELD WASHER COMES ON, LIGHTS FLASH, DOOR LOCKS WON'T WORK, KEY SWITCH OFF DOESN'T STOP THE PROBLEM, SO FAR HAVE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND OPEN THE HOOD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. RECONNECTING THE BATTERY SOMETIMES WORKS BUT THE HEATER/AC STOPS WORKING... THIS SITUATION IS A REAL ROAD HAZARD!!! AFTER AWHILE THINGS WORK OK UNTIL IT REPEATS. VERY DANGEROUS CAR TO BE ON THE ROAD. JEEP SERVICE PEOPLE RESPOND BY SAYING THAT THAT THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG! WELL SURE, THE EVENT IS OVER WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO BE "FIXED"! BASIS FOR A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR SURE! VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED.
JEEP HAS 30.000 MILES GETTING DEATH WOBBLE AT 60 MILES AN HOUR CAN'T CONTROL JEEP UNLESS COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TALKED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE AND HAD SAME PROBLEM.
I HAVE A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING. THERE IS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THIS: S33. NHTSA CAMPAIGN #: 16V290000. THE FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS EFFECTING THE AIRBAGS, STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS. FOR SOME REASON MY VEHICLE IS NOT BEING COVERED BY THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V176000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
FAILED CLOCKSPRING AT 104,000 MILES. INTERMITTED AIRBAG LIGHT.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND CHIME RANDOMLY TURNS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING UNDER ALL CONDITIONS.
I OWN A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' MORE FREQUENTLY. THE CAUSE FOR CONCERN FIRST HAPPENED (2) YEARS AGO AFTER HITTING A POTHOLE ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT IN FOR INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS A LOOSE STEERING STABILIZER BAR. ABOUT A YEAR OR SO AFTER THE REPAIR, MY WRANGLER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' MORE FREQUENTLY. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN I'M DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND HIT SOME SIGNIFICANT BUMP OR POTHOLE. I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN TO ROUGHLY 40 MPH FOR THE VIOLENT SHAKING TO STOP. THEN, I CAN ACCELERATE BACK TO NORMAL SPEED. IT CAN BE REAL DANGEROUS WHEN OTHER PEOPLE ARE CLOSE BEHIND ME AND I'M FORCED TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO DROP MY SPEED BY ROUGHLY 30 MPH. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO KEEP TAKING THE WRANGLER IN FOR MORE REPAIRS, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT SEEMS TO HAPPEN PERIODICALLY. THOUGHTS?
VEHICLE HORN STOPPED WORKING. NO ACCIDENT OR EVENT OCCURRED. POSSIBLE MALFUNCTION. TRIED TO USE THE HORN WHILE IN MOTION ON THE ROAD, NO HORN SOUND WHEN PRESSING INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. VEHICLE HORN DOES SOUND WHEN LOCKING THE VEHICLE AND WHEN SETTING OFF THE "PANIC" ALARM. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CLOCK SPRING. TOOK VEHICLE TO MAINTENANCE SHOP, STAFF SAID THE HORN IS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER, BUT THE CLOCK SPRING IS LIKELY "BAD".
WHILE TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH, I HIT SOME ROUGH ROAD AND SOME SHALLOW POTHOLES. FOR THE FIRST TIME, I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN MY JEEP SUDDENLY SHOOK VIOLENTLY. I STEPPED ON THE BREAK AND PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. THEN I DROVE AGAIN AND THE JEEP WAS JUST FINE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE PROBLEM, FROM THEN ON, I TRIED TO AVOID POTHOLES OR ROUGH ROADS AND SLOW DOWN MY SPEED TO 40 MPH ON A FREEWAY TO AVOID THE SO CALLED "DEATH WOBBLE" UNTIL I HAD MONEY TO HAVE THE CAR FIXED. THE DEALER CHANGED ALL DEFECTIVE PARTS INCLUDING STRUTS AND STABILIZER AND COSTED ME MORE THAN $700.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING AND THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,401. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER 2-DOOR 4X4. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEAT SHIELD THAT WAS LOCATED BETWEEN THE MUFFLER AND THE REAR SUBFRAME SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE STEEL BOLTS USED TO SECURE THE HEAT SHIELD CAUSED THE FAILURE DUE TO OXIDATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED BY A MECHANIC AND THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,396. UPDATED 12/03/15*LJ *JS
GAS TANKS OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING TANK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WHIPPERS ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE RADIO BEGAN ACTIVATING AND DEACTIVATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.
AFTER MANY LONG ROAD TRIPS THE ENGINE ALWAYS SEEMS TO SMELL SLIGHTLY HOT. I WAS ASSURED IT WAS JUST BECAUSE OF LONG DISTANCES. THIS PAST WEEKEND AFTER A LONG ROAD TRIP, I PARKED MY CAR IN THE GARAGE, AND LATER THE ENGINE BURST INTO FLAMES WRECKING NOT ONLY THE JEEP BUT ALSO THE HOUSE IT WAS PARKED IN.
WHEN DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. LIGHT NOW COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN DRIVING AND STAYS ON FOR A FEW MINUTES, GOES OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS, AND THEN REPEATS CONTINUOUSLY THROUGHOUT DRIVING. LOOKING ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME CLOCKSPRING FAILURE THAT HAS RESULTED IN A RECALL FOR THE SAME MODEL YEAR RHD VEHICLES, AND EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON THIS PART FOR PREVIOUS YEAR (2007) LHD VEHICLES. SINCE THIS WILL CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO FAIL, I BELIEVE THIS SAFETY RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO INCLUDE ALL WRANGLERS WITH THIS CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY, NOT JUST RHD.
ANTI LOCK BRAKE MODULE FAILED. BRAKE PEDAL WOULD PULSE ON DRY PAVEMENT EVEN AT SPEEDS UNDER 5 MILES AN HOUR BUT WOULD FAIL TO BRING VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. PROBLEM BEGAN AS INTERMITTENT THEN WOULD RANDOMLY GO FROM PULSING BUT STILL STOPPING THE VEHICLE TO EVENTUALLY THE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR WITH NO PULSING AND NO BRAKES WHATSOEVER. ALSO, NO BRAKE WARNING LIGHT OR ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHT. I KEPT THE MODULE AND WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SEND IT TO YOU FOR EVALUATION. SINCE I HAVE REPLACED THE MODULE (LAST FALL) I HAVE HAD NO FURTHER ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED, THE VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO MAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RESTART EACH TIME THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE FAILURE AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
ODOMETER WILL NOT FUNCTION. COMES ON FOR AWHILE, SOMETIMES BLINKS AND OTHER TIMES WILL NOT WORK. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND INDICATED INTERNAL FAILURE NEED TO ORDER CLUSTER AND REPLACE.
AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON THEN OFF REPEATEDLY, WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED AS "CLOCK SPRING FAILED".
AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUALLY GOES ON AND OFF WITH CHIME WHILE DRIVING. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS BEING INVESTIGATED BY ODI AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THIS AFFECTS THE DRIVER SIDE ON LHD MODELS. POSSIBLE CLOCKSPRING WIRING ISSUE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND NOT JUST A ROUTINE "WEAR AND TEAR" PROBLEM. CHRYSLER FIAT NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SLOW TO RESPOND AND THE SLIPPERY ROAD WARNING LIGHT FLASHED WHILE DRIVING DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED BUT FAILED TO RESPOND CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 10V236000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 08V202000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. . THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON FREQUENTLY AND INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER HAS CONFIRMED FAILURE IS THE STEERING COLUMN CLOCK SPRING. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH AN OPEN RECALL INVESTIGATION.
EXPERIENCING WHAT HAS BEEN CALLED "DEATH WOBBLE." VIOLENT SHAKING AND UNABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE ON HWY. IF YOU HIT A BUMP GOING OVER 55 YOU WILL MOST LIKELY EXPERIENCE THIS AND CAN ONLY STOP TO REGAIN CONTROL. THIS MAY BE A DEADLY PROBLEM! HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THIS JEEP IN JULY OF 2015 AND WE'VE ONLY HAD IT 3 MONTHS. NO DEALER SUPPORT OR HELP ON THE PROBLEM AFTER FIRST ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
ON MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN ON 2008 LHD OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING. (THIS IS THE SAME EXACT PART & # AS THOSE RECALLED FROM YOUR INVESTIGATION #PE11019.) PLEASE HELP US...MANY MANY REPORTING SAME ISSUE
WHEN PUMPING FUEL WHILE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY THE FUEL OVERFLOWS. MUST PUMP IN SMALL AMOUNTS SLOWLY TO KEEP OVERFLOW TO A MINIMUM; HOWEVER, OVERFLOW STILL OCCURS ESPECIALLY AT THE END OF PUMPING WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. OVERFLOW SQUIRTS OUT AND SOUNDS LIKE GARGLING WHEN FILLING WITH FUEL.
IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED ONCE SO FAR, BUT IT WAS VERY SCARY. THE FRONT WHEELS BEGAN AN UNCONTROLLABLE WOBBLE. I WAS GOING 55-60 MPH AND HAD TO WRESTLE THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY AS IT WAS FIGHTING TO STAY ON ROAD. IT FELT LIKE THE FRONT WHEELS WERE FALLING OFF. THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME. IT WAS FINE ONCE I STOPPED THE CAR AND HASN'T HAPPENED IN 2 WEEKS. UPON CHECKING THE INTERNET, THERE ARE A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEM. THEY EVEN HAVE A NAME FOR IT, IT'S CALLED "THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE" AND IT'S COMMON IN JEEPS WRANGLERS OF ALL AGES. AND MOST PEOPLE HAVE IT HAPPEN TO THEM SEVERAL TIMES. LOOK IT UP. I TALKED TO DEALERS AND CHRYSLER CORPORATE AND THEY ALL SAID "WE HAVE HEARD SOME STORIES, BUT DON'T HAVE A REAL FIX FOR IT.". THEY SAID IT COULD BE CAUSED BY "ADDING LIFTERS TO YOUR CAR", WHICH IS A JOKE, BECAUSE EVERYONE THAT WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE HAVE STOCK JEEPS AND ARE NOT TAKING THEM OFF-ROAD. IT'S AN ISSUE JEEP IS IGNORING UNTIL THERE IS A DEATH, WHICH IS BOUND TO HAPPEN SOON.
JEEP IS POSSESSED. HORN, WIPERS, WIPER WASHER, A/C, RADIATOR FAN, DOOR LOCKS, AND LIGHTS TURN ON AT RANDOM INTERVALS EVEN WHEN VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND NO KEY IN IGNITION. SAME BEHAVIOR OCCURS WHILE DRVING. IN ONE CASE THE PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE CAUSE THE PROBLEM.
ON THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING.
WHEN I AM DRIVING MY JEEP OUT OF NO WHERE IT DECIDES TO DO THE 'DEATH WOBBLE'. IT HAS ALMOST THROWN ME OFF THE ROAD IN SEVERAL SITUATIONS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY CHRYSLER HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH A BUNCH OF THEIR JEEPS AND DOES NOT FIX IT FOR ANYONE OR WARN ANYONE. I HAVE TOOK IT TO PLACE AFTER PLACE TRYING TO GET AN ANSWER OF WHY I HAVE CHANGED THE STEERING STABILIZER 4 TIMES NOW. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY JEEP NOT KNOWING WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. IT COULD BE OVER A VERY SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD THAT ISN'T EVEN NOTICEABLE TO THE NAKED EYE OR A BIG BUMP IT DOES NOT MATTER. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY TRYING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS NO WAY ANYONE WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP THERE VEHICLE AS FAST AS THEY NEED TO BECAUSE OF THE DEATH WOBBLE WHEN THERE IS ICE ON THE ROAD THIS COULD KILL SOMEONE!! SHAKES THE WHOLE FRONT IN UNCONTROLLABLY!
I WAS ON AN ON-RAMP ENTERING A HIGHWAY. WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC, MY BRAKES DID NOT WORK. THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT STOP OR EVEN SLOW DOWN THE JEEP. I COULD NOT STOP AT ALL MY JEEP AND RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I INSPECTED MY JEEP AND FOUND THAT THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE LINE HAD COME APART. THE INTERNAL FITTING WAS RUSTED AND THE RUBBER COATING APPEARED TO BE DAMAGED/BURNED. THIS IS FACTORY BRAKES, NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE EVER BEEN MADE TO ANY PART OF THIS JEEP. THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC INITALLY TOLD ME THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WAS ON THE VERGE OF COMING APART ALSO, THEN REFUSED TO SPEAK TO ME AFTERWARDS. I HAVE A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WHICH SPECIFICALLY LISTS ALL OF THESE PARTS AS COVERED. CHRYSLER THEN CONFISCATED MY VEHICLE, REFUSED TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS CLAIMING THEY ARE "INSPECTING IT FOR SAFETY" FOR THE NEXT FIVE BUSINESS DAYS. I DO NOT CONSENT TO THEM TAKING MY VEHICLE FOR THIS PERIOD OF TIME. THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL CAR DURING THIS FIVE BUSINESS DAYS OF THEIR SO-CALLED SAFETY INSPECTION. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH MY JEEP AND WHY THEY WON'T RETURN IT TO ME. CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN HORRIBLE AND NO ONE WILL GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ABOUT MY JEEP OR WHAT'S GOING ON WITH IT OTHER THAN IT'S BEEN "UPGRADED" TO A DIFFERENT LEVEL OF MANAGEMENT. I BELIEVE THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO COVER UP A FACTORY/MANUFACTURING CAUSED DEFECT DUE TO THE WAY THEY ARE HANDLING THIS SITUATION AND THE REFUSAL TO DISCUSS THE JEEP WITH ME.
CLOCK SPRING FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED.
THE AIRBAG ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY (IT MIGHT BE 5-10 SECONDS, OR SEVERAL MINUTES BETWEEN). AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I SEE THAT THIS IS OFTEN CAUSED BY THE CLOCK SPRING, WHICH WAS RECALLED ON THE 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. BASED ON JEEP FORUMS, MANY DRIVERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THE PART SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MAY AFFECT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT.
WHILE DRIVING, THE WARNING CHIME SOUNDS AND THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON. THEN IT GOES OFF. THEN IT COMES ON AGAIN. IT HAPPENS OVER AND OVER. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V176000 BUT I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER.
THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED AN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT (FLASHED ON AND OFF) THAT INDICATED A FAILURE OF THE CLOCKSPRING WIRING IN THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG CIRCUIT. CODE B1B06 SET FOR DRIVER AIRBAG SQUIB CIRCUIT 2 OPEN AN INTERNAL SHORT INSIDE OF THE CLOCKSPRING WAS FOUND. REPLACED CLOCKSPRING MODULE.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE A MONTH AGO AND EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP FUEL SPILLS RAPIDLY FROM THE FILLER NECK. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I WOULD LIKE TO GET IT FIXED.
RECENTLY THE AIR BAG LIGHT IN MY JK JEEP WRANGLER (2008) BEGAN ILLUMINATING. I DID SOME INVESTIGATION PRIOR TO SERVICING IT AT THE DEALER AND DETERMINED IT WAS LIKELY THE CLOCKWORK SPRING SINCE THERE WERE SOME MANY REPORTS OF FAILURE. IN ADDITION, MY ELECTRONIC SWAY BAR DISCONNECT SYSTEM WOULD NOT RE-ENGAGE AFTER A CAMPING TRIP. I DROVE DOWN A MOUNTAIN PASS AND ON A STRETCH OF 75 MPH INTERSTATE WITHOUT A SWAY AND AN AIR BAG WHICH WAS DANGEROUS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET BOTH ISSUES LOOKED AT. JEEP CONFIRMED IT WAS THE CLOCKWORK SPRING CAUSING THE AIR BAG LIGHT ($48.00 DIAGNOSIS) AND THAT THE SWAY BAR DISCONNECT MOTOR ($96.00 DIAGNOSIS) HAD FAILED. THEY QUOTED ME FOR $410 TO GET THE CLOCKWORK SPRING FIXED & $1410 TO REPLACE THE SWAY BAR. NO PROMISE WAS MADE TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR COST SHOULD THE ISSUES BECOME RECALLS SINCE THEY ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION. I TOOK INITIATIVE TO SELF DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE SWAY BAR NOT RECONNECTING SINCE I SUSPECTED THAT THE ELECTRONIC MOTOR WAS STILL FUNCTIONING (I COULD HEAR AND FEEL TO MOTOR OPERATING BEFORE & AFTER I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE). AFTER DISASSEMBLING (NEVER BEEN TAMPERED WITH PRIOR), I FOUND WATER AND RUSTY PARTS INSIDE AND COULD SEE THAT THE UNIT AS POORLY DESIGNED JUDGING FROM THE ONE SMALL SPRING THAT IS SUPPOSE TO WORK TO RE-ENGAGE THE SWAY BAR BY PUSHING THE INTERNAL GEARS (NOW RUSTY) BACK TOGETHER. I SIMPLY APPLIED SOME GREASE TO THE PARTS AND REINSTALLED THE UNIT. TO MY DELIGHT THIS ALLOWED THE MOTOR TO RECONNECT THE SWAY BAR. IT IS UNCONSCIONABLE TO PUT MOTORIST IN HARMS WAY WITHOUT A FUNCTIONING AIR BAG SYSTEM AND / OR SWAY BAR DUE TO POORLY VEHICLE CONSTRUCTION AND THEN CHARGE FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR COSTS. PLEASE ISSUE RECALLS FOR THE CLOCKWORK SPRING AND THE LACK OF WATER PROTECTION FOR THE ELECTRONIC SWAY BAR DISCONNECT SYSTEM BEFORE FATALITIES OCCUR.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC NOR A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000.
JULY 10, 2015: DRIVING TO WORK APPROXIMATELY 8:15 AM CST. CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SUDDENLY AND I FELT THE BREAKS WERE NOT SLOWING THE VEHICLE DOWN ENOUGH TO AVOID IMPACT. WITH A VEHICLE ON MY RIGHT, MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO GO LEFT. I NEVER SAW THE TRUCK IN THE ONCOMING LANE AND HIT HEAD ON. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. IT DID DEPLOY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BUT NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. THE UPPER BODY PORTION OF THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME AND I SLAMMED FACE FIRST INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I SUFFERED A BROKEN AND DISLOCATED WRIST THAT REQUIRED SURGERY, SEVERE BRUISING OF FACE, ARMS, CHEST, HIPS AND LEGS. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY.

I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND THE JEEP HADN'T HAVE HAD ANY ISSUES AND THE JEEP JUST RANDOMLY DIDN'T START. I FINALLY GOT IT TO START JUST TO FIND OUT IT WAS A KEY MODULE AND PROGRAM WIRELESS MODULE. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH THIS IS A REGULAR PROBLEM IN (07-08 MODELS).
I WORK ON DRILLING RIGS IN THE NORTH EAST OFTEN IN REMOTE LOCATIONS. AFTER RETURNING TO THE RIG FROM A TRIP TO TOWN WITH NO ISSUES I LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR TWO DAYS. UPON OPTING TO GO TO TOWN I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE. I TURNED THE IGNITION AND HAD ALL ELECTRICAL POWER BUT NOTHING TO CRANK THE ENGINE. I TESTED ALL COMPONENTS I COULD BEFORE COMING TO THE CONCLUSION IT WAS A COMPUTER RELATED ISSUE FOR A JEEP DEALER. I MADE THE ARRANGEMENTS AND TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP 40 MILE AWAY. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR A DAY ALONG WITH ALL MY FAULT FINDING DATA THE DEALER CALLED TO INFORM ME IT WAS THE TIPM. AFTER QUESTIONING THE REP AS TO THE CAUSES OF A FAILURE I WAS TOLD THAT IT UNKNOWN BUT A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. AFTER AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR AND 400 MILES POST REPAIR I HAVE HAD NO FURTHER ISSUES.
THE CLOCKSPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN HAS FAILED CAUSING THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT TO INTERMITTENTLY ALARM. THIS INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THIS VEHICLE IS LEFT HAND DRIVE.
ON MAY 2ND MY SON WAS DRIVING MY CAR, HE STOPPED AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED HE ACCELERATE AND MY CAR DID NOT RESPONDED AT THAT MOMENT HE SAID THAT HE HEARD A BIG NOISE LIKE SOMETHING JUST BROKE IN PIECES INSIDE OF MY CAR, SO WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION BROKE, SO WE HAD TO CALL A FRIEND TO COME AN PULL MY CAR WITH HIS, THE I TOOK TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THE GUY SAID THAT THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE, THEN I LOOK IN MY CAR PAPERS AND I FOUND OUT THAT THIS CAR HAD A RECALL, FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SO THAT MEANS THIS IS A MANUFACTURED PROBLEM AND I WANT MY NEW TRANSMISSION BECAUSE I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY CAR AS YOU SEE IT HAS VERY LOW MILES. AND I HAVE ANOTHER COMPLAINT THAT THIS CAR I HAVE TO KEEP CHECKING THE MOTOR OIL WHICH IS CRAZY THAT EVERY TWO MONTHS OIL HAS TO BE ADDED, MY HUSBAND HAS A TOYOTA TRUCK AND NEVER HAS PROBLEMS WITH IT.
