THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V631000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VISIBILITY); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WHEN GETTING GAS REGARDLESS WHERE, THE AUTO FUEL DOESN'T STOP UNTIL ABOUT A CUP OR 2 OF FUEL IS SPIT OUT OF THE GAS TANK - DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND ON THE GROUND. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON A FEW OCCASIONS I WAS AND AM TERRIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY TO THE POINT IT FEELS LIKE JEEP WILL FALL APART AND YOU ARE GOING TO GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS RECALL FOR THE CLOCK SPRING, BUT ONLY ON THE RIGHT-HAND DRIVE JEEPS. HAVE THE LEFT-HAND DRIVES BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL? *TR
EVERY TIME THIS VEHICLE IS FUELED UP, THE GAS WILL COME GUSHING OUT BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND WAS COMPLETELY SOAKED WITH GAS THE FIRST TIME I FILLED IT UP. I DO NOT TOP IT OFF AND IT IS ON 10% ETHANOL 89 OCTANE GAS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. FROM WHAT I READ THE NHTSA HAS LOOKED INTO THIS AND DROPPED IT???? SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT FROM THIS. *TR
WHEN TURNING ON FAN SPEED SWITCH (CLIMATE CONTROL) WIRE TO FAN BECOMES SOO HOT IT MELTS, HAS BURNING SMELL, AS IF IT WANTS TO BURN OR CATCH FIRE. HAS DONE THIS TWICE EVEN AFTER REPLACING BURNT WIRING. THIS WIRE GETS RED HOT AT ANY POSITION OF THE FAN SPEED SWITCH WHICH CONTROLS THE AC, OR HEAT. I'M AFRAID OF JEEP CATCHING ON FIRE.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, AND SPEED CONTROL WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN. *TR
MY 2011 JEEP WRANGLER HAS MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULDN'T TURN OFF EVEN AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. I PULLED THE FUSE BUT THEY STILL STAYED ON. I COULD SMELL SOMETHING ELECTRICAL BURNING SO I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. ALSO THE DOOR LOCKS DON'T WORK AND FRONT CIGARETTE LIGHTER STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING IT IN. WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALER THE JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE HORRIBLY WHEN ACCELERATING (DUE TO ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP). THE DEALER SAYS THAT I NEED A NEW TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER CONTROL MODULE (TIPM). THE COST IS WELL OVER $1000 (THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY). WHEN I SEARCHED TIPM PROBLEMS ON-LINE I FOUND THAT CHRYSLER HAS TONS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS BUT THE ONLY ISSUED A RECALL ON A FEW VEHICLE MODELS AND WRANGLER WASN'T INCLUDED. THERE ARE OBVIOUSLY A BIGGER NUMBER OF VEHICLES AFFECTED AND CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL THE REMAINING MODELS. *TR
AS I PUMP GASOLINE AT DIFFERENT GASOLINE STATIONS; THE GAS PUMP DOESN'T SHUT OFF AND FUEL SPIT-BACK ONTO THE FLOOR, HAND AND CLOTHE. THE SMELL OF GASOLINE WILL BE THROUGHOUT THE CAB AND IN MY HANDS AND CLOTHE. THIS IS A HEALTH ISSUE, BECAUSE INHALING THE FUMES. ALSO IF I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO SOAP AND WATER I MUST STAY WITH GASOLINE IN MY HANDS AND CLOTHE. *TR
I HAVE A 2011 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON. WHEN THE PUMP SHUTS OFF WHILE FILLING MY GAS TANK, FUEL SPRAYS OUT. THE JEEP DEALER SAYS HE HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING BEFORE. I TOLD HIM TO LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND HE WOULD FIND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. I UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH OREGON, (NO SELF SERVE GAS STATIONS) SEVERAL ATTENDANTS TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY IN THE COLD WEATHER. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON TO REPORT A FAULT IN THE SYSTEM. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT JEEP WRANGLER JK OWNERS ARE HAVING. THE CLOCK SPRING IS FAULTY. THE RIGHT HAND DRIVE VERSION OF THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME PART. BUT NOT THE LEFT HAND DRIVE? THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A DEFECTIVE PART AS AFTER SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET ITS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. PARTS FAILING AS SOON AS 1/12 YEARS. THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP FROM HOME TO WORK, I WAS PROBABLY FIVE MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE WHEN MY AIR BAG LIGHT BEGINS TO DING ON AND OFF EVERY COUPLE OF SECONDS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE SAME RESIDENTIAL STREET I ALWAYS TAKE TO WORK AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY ISSUES IN THE PAST. MY VEHICLE IS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND IS NOT ABUSED LIKE SOME JEEPS. AFTER WORK I WAS DOING RESEARCH AS TO WHAT COULD CAUSE THE PROBLEM AND THE CONSENSUS SEEMED TO BE THAT IF A JEEP WAS RAINED ON YOUR CLOCK SPRING WOULD SOON GO BAD. I HAVE REMOVED BOTH THE TOP AND DOORS FROM MY JEEP, BUT THE JEEP HAS NEVER BEEN RAINED ON. MY JEEP IS GARAGE KEPT AND THE ONLY ELEMENTS IT HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO IS HEAT AND DUST. ALSO, I EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE IN JANUARY AND I AM IN NORTHERN UT SO THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT EVEN HAD THE TOP OFF WITHIN SIX MONTHS FROM THE INCIDENT. [XXX] SAID THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM BUT THAT THE AVERAGE COST IS AROUND $500.00 (THEY SEEMED AWARE OF THE FAULTY PART). AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I HAVE DISCOVERED THE 2008 CLOCK SPRING WAS FOUND TO BE RECALLED BUT NOTHING LATER THEN THAT? I AM CONFUSED HOW THE SAME PART CAN BE RECALLED ON THE SAME VEHICLE BUT ONLY FOR ONE YEAR? JEEP PROMOTES THEMSELVES AS TRAIL RATED, YET I WOULD ARGUE THEY ARE SIMPLY NOVELTY AT THIS POINT WITH ALL FASHION AND NO FUNCTION (MIND YOU THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT EVEN PARTAKE IN OFF-ROADING). LASTLY, ASIDE FROM THE OBVIOUS SECURITY CONCERN IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS VEHICLE NOW WILL NOT PASS SAFETY AND EMISSIONS TESTING DUE TO MOPAR'S FAILURE I AM NOW REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE. GASOLINE OVERFLOWS OUT OF VEHICLE DURING FUEL FILL UP. THIS OCCURS AT VARIOUS GAS STATIONS USING DIFFERENT PUMPS. *TR
EVERY TIME I PUT GAS IN JEEP IT BACK- FLOWS ALL OVER THE PLACE. NOT ONLY DOES IT RUIN THE PAINT BUT IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD SPLASHING ALL OVER MY CLOTHES AND ONCE SPRAYED ON MY NECK. A LITTLE HIGHER IT WOULD HAVE GOTTEN ON MY FACE. I HEAR IT MIGHT BE THE BUTTERFLY NOT CLOSING SO IT DOESN'T KNOW YOU TANK IS FULL OR CLOSE TO BEING FULL. SHOULD BE ANY EASY RECALL SO WHY ISN'T IT ??? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED A LEAK FROM THE TRANSMISSION LINE. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LINE WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,772.
MY GAS TANK OVERFLOWS AT THE PUMP EVERY TIME I RE-FUEL STARTING IN JANUARY, 2015, 5 MONTHS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED BUT WITH ONLY 22,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE PUMP WILL SHUT OFF WHEN FULL, THEN SHORTLY AFTER, OVERFLOW SPILLS OUT ONTO THE GROUND. THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT THIS ISSUE IS TO GUESS WHEN IT IS GETTING CLOSE TO FULL AND STOP THE PUMP BEFORE IT IS FULL. A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL SPLASHES ON ME IF I'M TOO CLOSE, ON THE BODY, BUMPER, AND GROUND, CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD EASILY LEAD TO A FIRE. *TR
THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED UP. IT HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE DIFFERENT PUMPS AND EVERY TIME WHEN THE TANK IS FILLED FULL. THE GAS SHOOTS OUT ONTO THE CAR AND COULD POSSIBLY GET ON THE PERSON FUELING THE AUTOMOBILE AS WELL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR AXLE SEAL WAS LEAKING AND THE BEARING, BRAKE PADS, EMERGENCY AND PARKING BRAKE SHOES, AND THE WHEEL SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,151.
FOR THE THIRD FILL-UP IN A ROW, WHEN THE PUMP SHUTS OFF AN ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF GAS SPURTS OUT OF THE FILL UP TUBE AND DOWN THE REAR LEFT SIDE OF THE JEEP. THE JEEP IS NOT OBEYING/MONITORING THE LEVEL OF THE FUEL BEING PUMPED INTO IT AND WHEN IT RISES TO A NORMAL CUT OFF LEVEL THE JEEP IGNORES IT AND ALLOWS MORE FUEL TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. IT'S TOO LATE TO SHUT IT OFF EACH TIME. EACH TIME IT HAS DONE THIS IT BURPS UP ABOUT 1/2 A GALLON TO A GALLON OF GAS. IT'S DISCOLORING THE PLASTIC FENDER AND CAUSING A MESS. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE DO THIS BEFORE. EVERY VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED SHUTS OFF CORRECTLY, THEY HAVE MONITORED THE FUEL INTAKE LEVEL AND SIGNALED FULL BEFORE THE OVERFLOW HAPPENS. LIKE HOW IT SHOULD WORK. *JS

I WAS TRAVELING NORTH IT HAD SNOWED THE DAY PRIOR ROADS WERE SLICK OR SO I THOUGHT THE JEEP WAS STEERING STRANGE I WAS TRAVELING UP A SMALL INCLINE AND TOOK THE FIRST OF TWO TURNS I MADE THE FIRST AND LOST ALL CONTROL GOING INTO THE SECOND IN TO THE DITCH MISSING A LARGE TREE AND BOUNCED OUT OF THE DITCH AND DOWN THE DITCH ON THE OTHER SIDE. WITH MY SEAT BELT ON I WAS STILL THROWN ALL AROUND THE CAB OF THE JEEP IN PAIN STILL THANK YOU. AFTER GETTING A TOW TRUCK WE FOUND THE STEERING BAR COMING OFF THE STEERING BOX WAS OFF AND WHEN WE LOOKED CLOSER THE SHAFT ON THE STEERING BOX HAD BROKEN COMPLETELY OFF. I FIND THIS HARD TO BE LEAVE THAT SHAFT IS OVER A HALF INCH THICK. SO TO SUM IT UP I AM VERY LUCKY I HAD NOT MADE IT TO THE HIGHWAY IT WOULD NO HAVE BEEN A GOOD THING FOR MYSELF AND ANY OTHER DRIVERS ON THE HIGHWAY THAT NIGHT. *TR

WHEN FUELING, WITH THE GAS PUMP LOCKED, THE FILLER TUBE BURPS/SPITS GAS WHEN THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF. THIS EVENT HAPPENS WHEN THE GAS PUMP IS FILLING BOTH SLOW AND FAST. GAS SPITS OUT ONTO THE FENDER AND ALL OVER THE PAINT UNDER THE FILL TUBE. *TR

WHENEVER I GO TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL UP WITH GAS, ONE OF TWO THINGS HAPPENS; EITHER IT DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY CUTOFF AND GAS SPILLS OUT ONTO MY FENDER/WHEEL, OR IT DOES THE OPPOSITE....CONTINUES TO CLICK OFF OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND I AM UNABLE TO FILL MY TANK. I HAVE TRIED GETTING GAS AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT STATIONS NOW, AND IT DOES IT AT ALL OF THEM. *TR

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. JEEP BOUGHT NEW, HAS LESS THAN 25,000 MILES. ENGINE OIL LEVEL WAS 2 QUART LOW, 2400 MILES AFTER OIL AND FILTER CHANGE. NO ENGINE LEAKS OR EXHAUST SMOKE. 3.8 ENGINE. GOOGLE OIL CONSUMPTION 3.8 ENGINE, A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM NOT BEING ADDRESS. *TR

IN REFERENCE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN 11V528000, I AM THE OWNER OF A 2011 JEEP WRANGLER, WITH THE ABOVE VIN. THIS VEHICLE IS A LEFT HAND DRIVE AND HAS THE SAME CLOCKSPRING PROBLEM. IS THERE OR WAS THERE A RECALL FOR LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES? MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND MY MECHANIC RAN A DIAGNOSTIC, HE EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR MY JEEP. *TR
AT THE TIME MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR SIDE MIRROR/BACK DEFROSTER RECALL, MY REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN THE RECALL REPAIR WORK WAS COMPLETED, THE REAR DEFROSTER DID NOT WORK SINCE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO JEEP ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION & THEY CANNOT FIX IT. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW. THE PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WHEN THE REAR WINDOW IS FOGGED UP, THERE IS ZERO VISIBILITY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN I AM DRIVING AND CANNOT SEE WHAT'S BEHIND ME! IT'S A COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP VEHICLES AND IT WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE MY RECALL REPAIRS. A JEEP DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SIDE MIRRORS WORKED BETTER BEFORE THE RECALL REPAIRS AS WELL.
EVERYTIME I FUEL UP, FUEL SPITS OUT ALL OVER THE BUMPER, WHEEL HUB, GROUND, AND SOMETIMES ME. THIS HAPPENS EVEN AFTER THE FACT THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. NOT ONLY IS THIS EXPENSIVE AFTER A WHILE, IT'S DANGEROUS AND HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR GREATER RISK. *TR

FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATE ON MY DASH. I DO NOT KNOW WHY THIS IS. IT TURNS ON/OFF RANDOMLY WETHER SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. ADDITIONALLY FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS OR SO THE FUNCTIONS/BUTTONS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL GO IN/OUT OF FUNCTION. FOR THE MOST PART THEY DON'T WORK 99% OF THE TIME. IT DOESN'T AFFECT THE DRIVING OR ANYTHING DANGEROUS BUT IT IS ANNOYING THAT THESE BUTTONS DON'T WORK MOST OF THE TIME. AS FAR AS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT, THIS CONCERNS ME SHOULD THERE BE SOME SORT OF ACCIDENT. I HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS AND PEOPLE HAVE SPENT A GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY AND THE LIGHT STILL IS ON. I SAW THAT IN JUNE, 2015 AND INVESTIGATION WAS STARTED REGARDING THIS AND WANTED TO PUT IN MY TWO CENTS. I HOPE THAT A SOLUTION IS FOUND FOR THIS.
ON THE 2008 TO 2012 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2008 TO 2012 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2008 TO 2012 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY VIOLATION AND SAFETY FEATURE THAT CAN AND WILL COST LOSS OF LIFE IF IT IS NOT FIX PROPERLY BY EITHER REPLACING IT OR CREATING A COVER FOR THE CLOCKSPRING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FRACTURED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS SECURED IN THE DRIVER SEAT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT MOUNT WAS ALSO FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT BELT NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS A 60,000.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50MPH AND THEN BEGIN TO SLOW DOWN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE STEERING WHEEL BEGINS TO WOBBLE BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY AND THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHAKES LIKE CRAZY, AND THE MUFFLER SPUTTERS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF. I HAVE HAD TO FORCEFULLY STEER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHAKE, THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS TO TURN IT OFF AND RESTART IT. THIS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN MY GARAGE AND I TURNED IT ON TO WARM IT UP, IT STARTS TO SHAKE AND SPUTTER AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS OF BEING TURNED ON. I'VE HEARD IT CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AND I UNDERSTAND WHY. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS. THE CONDITION SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS TO ME. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED PRIMARILY AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
JUNE 23RD, AFTER BEGINNING TO MOVE AFTER TRAFFIC WAS THINING OUT, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. AFTER CHECKING FLUIDS AND TEMP LEVELS (ELECTRICAL GAUGES STILL WORKED), I COULD ONLY ASSUME THIS WAS A SENSOR ISSUE. AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP, THE NEXT DAY IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TIPM (TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) HAD WENT BAD, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS PART IS CODED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE VEHICLE (USED ONES CANNOT WORK). I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART COULD TAKE UP TO A MONTH TO REPLACE BECAUSE CHRYSLER WAS NOT RELEASING THEM DUE TO AN ISSUE WITH THEM. ONCE THIS WAS FOUND OUT, IT STRUCK ME AS ODD SEEING AS I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT A RECALL, AND IF THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, SHOULDNT ONE HAVE BEEN SENT OUT? *JS
TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH IN SWEEPING LEFT TURN ON SMOOTH, PAVED ROAD, VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, DID NOT WANT TO RESPOND TO HARD BRAKING AND CONTINUED UNTIL UNDER 25 MPH. TIRES WERE CLOSE TO BEING WORN OUT, THEY WERE REPLACED WITH NEW ALIGNMENT. PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED WITH NEW TIRES. JEEP WAS AT DEALERSHIP 3 DAYS AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, I WANT TO ADD THEY WERE CONCERNED AND VERY NICE BUT FOUND NO PROBLEM. DRIVING HOME FROM DEALERSHIP IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE. DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED NEW TIRES WERE BAD, BUT THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED ON 2 SETS OF TIRES. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WITH SUCH VIOLENCE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVER, PASSENGER, AND OTHER VEHICLES SHARING THE ROAD. THIS ALSO HAPPENS ON ROADS WITH BUMPS ON STRAIGHTWAY SUCH AS MIGHT BE FOUND IN RIGHT LANE WHERE HEAVY TRUCKS CAUSE SURFACE DEFORMATIES. OUR JEEP HAS NO MODIFICATIONS TO ANY PART, STEERING, SUSPENSION, SHOCKS, OR HAS TIRES NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY VEHICLE LOST POWER. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE KEY OFF THEN ON AGAIN AND START IT WHILE IN NEUTRAL. IT WAS JUST AFTER HITTING A LARGE SEAM IN THE HIGHWAY. I LATER REPLICATED THE INCIDENT IN A VACANT PARKING LOT AND FOUND THAT I COULD BE DRIVING BUMP THE KEYS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN. ALSO GAVE A QUICK DOWNWARD TUG TO MY KEY RING SIMULATING HITTING A BUMP AND THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AT THAT POINT ALSO. *TR
WHEN I GO TO GAS STATION AND FILL UP MY JEEP GAS OVERFLOWS OUT THE TANK FILL TUBE AFTER PUMP SHUTS OFF. AT FIRST IT ONLY HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY WITH MINIMAL SPILLAGE. NOW IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP!!!! IT MAKES A GIANT MESS ALL OVER THE FENDER, BUMPER, AND THE GROUND AND ME!!!! I HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS, DIFFERENT SETTINGS ON THE NOZZLE(SLOW, MED, FAST). I HAVE STOOD THERE AND PUMPED BY HAND PUSHING NOZZLE FIRMLY AGAINST FILLER TUBE TO HELP PREVENT THE FUEL BLOW BACK. NOTHING WORKS!!! THE FILLER TUBE OR GAS TANK IS DEFECTIVE!!!! THIS WASTES GAS EVERY TIME I FILL UP,COSTING ME MONEY!! ITS RUINING THE FINISH ON MY BUMPER, FENDER, AND MUD FLAP. MOST IMPORTANTLY ITS GASOLINE RUNNING ALL OVER THE PLACE INCLUDING ME!!!! In 2013 and 2014 my wife complained of the jeep having the "death wobble" on several occasions when she hit a bump on the highway at speeds of 40 MPH or higher. She would slow down to less than 10 mph for the wobbling to stop. The dealership attempted to determine what the issue was but was not able to find anything wrong. We had the same issue with our 2008 wrangler, and after paying over two thousand dollars in vain attempts to have the problem resolved, and a couple of issues caused by poor workmanship by the dealer, we traded that car in for the 2011 model. My wife seldom drove the jeep for the next few years due to terminal illness. I started driving it regularly in 2020 and found that the same condition was still occurring. While it does not happen every time I hit a bump at speeds above 40mph. it is occurring more often and more intensely. As a result of the intensity of the vibrations, I no longer will drive the jeep above 40 mph. It is my opinion that since this issue has been a problem for several models of jeeps over the past few years, it should be repaired by Chrysler/Jeep at no cost to the owners. This sudden vibration has probably caused accidents especially when one has to slow down suddenly, and should be considered a safety hazard.This has been happening with this jeep since at least March of 2014.
CLOCK SPRING HAS WENT BAD. WHICH MAKES THE AIRBAG AND HORN USELESS. ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. *TR
MY 2011 LEFT HAND DRIVE JEEP WRANGLER JK (4 DOOR) HAS A WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH. DEALER DETERMINED IT IS THE "CLOCK SPRING". UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 1997 MODEL AND ALL OF THE RIGHT HAND DRIVE MODELS (MAIL DELIVER). THE PART IS THE SAME IN ALL OF THEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE THERE IS SERIOUS FATALITY (THE AIRBAG MAY NOT WORK AS A RESULT). A RECALL IS NECESSARY FOR ALL THE LEFT HAND MODELS AS WELL. *TR
