SUDDEN ACCELERATION WITH BRAKES NOT RESPONDING .THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES AND ONLY WAY WAS TO PULL OUT OF ROAD AND JAM BRAKES AND DISENGAGE FROM DRIVE TO PARK IN A MOMENT TO AVOID ACCIDENTS OR ME DRIVING OF THE SIDE ROAD . THIS WAS REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP AND NOTHING CAME BACK WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I ALWAYS DONE MY SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP AND APPARENTLY SUPPOSEDLY NOTHING HAS BEEN REPORTED OF THIS NATURE.IT FEELS LIKE IT'S ON CRUISE CONTROL WITH HAVING A SPEED OF IT'S OWN BUT BRAKES ARE NOT RESPONDING NORMALLY. HOPEFULLY CAN ADDRESS ASAP LUCKY I'VE BEEN WORKING FROM HOME BUT I SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS ATTENTION ASAP.THANKS MB
AIR BAG LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF.
JEEP LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE A 1 YEAR OLD AND THIS IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS. IVE HAD TO STOP AND PULL BATTERY POWER TERMINAL OFF MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESET IT. THE JEEP COMPLETELY DIES THEN ALL LIGHTS AND SWITCHES START FIRING. JEEP WILL NOT RESTART. DEBATING SELLING IT AND GETTING SOMETHING OTHER THAN A JEEP PRODUCT. BATTERY IS GOOD AND ALTERNATOR IS GOOD. I HAD BOTH CHECKED BY A MECHANIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY JEEP AS WELL.
THE LIFTERS (HEADERS) HAVE GONE BAD. INCREDIBLE TICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE IN DRIVE AND IDLE. AS RPMS INCREASE THE TICKING IS LOUDER. THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IS TO REPLACE THE HEADERS. I HAVE READ A MULTITUDE OF COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA PAGE REGARDING THIS AND ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS ALL OVER JEEP FORUMS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2012 ENGINES ... WHY IS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED?
AIR BAG LIGHT GOING ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. EVERYTHING SAY CLOCKSPRING ISSUE FROM ALL I HAVE READ ONLINE. HOWEVER, FOR SOME REASON, LEFT HANDED MODELS NOT COVERED.
MY JEEP WILL RANDOMLY JUST SHUT OFF WHILE IDLING IN A PARKING LOT OR STOPPED AT A LIGH. IF I TURN THE KEY IT WILL START RIGHT BACK UP. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR CODES. I HAVE HAD IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG .
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, HORN DOESN'T WORK, RADIO CONTROLS ON STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T WORK. I'M SURE IT'S THE CLOCK SPRING BUT ACCORDING TO RECALLS MINE WASN'T UNDER THE RECALL. WORKED PERFECTLY ON WAY HOME FROM WORK, GOT IN A FEW HOURS LATER TO GET DINNER AND NOTHING WORKED, AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HORN WOULDN'T WORK.
I HAD MY DRIVER'S SIDE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED AT DEALERSHIP IN 2019 DUE TO RECALL. LAST 2 MONTHS, AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF BUT USUALLY ONLY WHEN I AM IN FULL TURN. ON AUG 3, 2020, I NOTICED MY OUTSIDE TEMP WAS READING CELSIUS SO I TRIED TO CHANGE IT BACK TO FAHRENHEIT. BUTTON WAS NOT WORKING. CHECKED MY HORN...NOTHING....CRUISE CONTROL....NOTHING. I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL MAKING CLICKING KIND OF POPPING SOUND. 30 MIN LATER, I PUT MY JEEP IN PARK AND THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED.
PURCHASE 2012 JEEP WRANGLER JKU USED. PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT HOLD VEHICLE WHEN PURCHASED. EVERY COMPONENT IN THE PARKING BRAKE SCHEMATIC HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW. PARKING BRAKE PROPERLY ADJUSTED TWICE, STILL UNABLE TO HOLD VEHICLE AT 7 DEGREE INCLINE SLOPED DRIVEWAY. EVEN TRIED OVER-TIGHTENING THE STAR WHEEL ADJUSTER FOR THE BRAKE PADS, STILL DOES NOT HOLD VEHICLE. CONCLUSION, 2012 JEEP WRANGLER JKU IS TOO HEAVY FOR THE FCA DESIGNED PARKING BRAKE, THIS VEHICLE WILL CREATE A CRASH WHEN IT MOVES OUT OF A PARKING SPACE INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF UNDER DESIGNED PARKING BRAKE.
AIRBAG WARNING SENSOR IS COMING ON. OTHER 2012 JEEP OWNERS HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM.
ENGINEERING DEFECT OIL PAN ON TRANSMISSION LEAKING HAD PAN REPLACED AT DEALER THEY CLAIMED IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY DO TO RUST. I FOUND DRAIN FROM A/C DRAINS ON TOP OF TRANSMISSION ONTO OIL PAN WHICH RUSTS OUT PAN AS IN PICTURES WATER STAIN ON TRANSMISSION AND PAN FROM A/C CONDENSATE CAR HAS 29,000 MILES I HAVE MORE PICTURES IF NEEDED
THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS CONTINUOUSLY STAYED ON NO MATTER TRYING TO RESET IT OR SITTING IN THE SEAT IT'S JUST BEEN ON AND I'M AFRAID THAT IT'S FAULTY
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the engine would misfire while driving at various speeds. Due to the failure, the vehicle would independently go into limp mode with the traction control and check engine warning lights illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to several unknown dealers and the engine misfire was acknowledged however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The VIN was not available.
MY JEEP WRANGLER IS IN THE DEALER TODAY THE CAR HAS 29,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION DRAIN PAN IS LEAKING THEY CLAIM IT IS FROM RUST THE PAN MAY BE WHITE METAL OR ALUMINUM I ASKED THE PARTS PERSON AT THE DEALER EARLIER IF THEY SOLD A LOT OF PANS HE SAID YES I CHECKED THE FORUM OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR AND LOW MILEAGE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM I FEEL THE PANS MAY BE THE WRONG MATERIAL FOR THE OIL BEING USED. AND MAY NEED A RECALL ON THE PANS. *TR
EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD EVEN AFTER ADJUSTMENT. I'VE INSTALLED NEW REAR BRAKE ROTORS AND NEW EMERGENCY BRAKE SHOES. ADJUSTED THE ADJUSTER CORRECTLY AND STILL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD. DESIGN FLAW IN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HANDLE PREVENTS IT FROM ENGAGING CORRECTLY. WEAK SPRING NOT DIRECT CABLE ATTACHMENT. NEVER HOLDS AT ALL. MECHANIC STATED IT HAS BEEN REDESIGNED DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND ENTIRE BRAKE MUST BE REPLACED. *TR
OIL HOUSING CRACKED DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, DUE TO AN INTEGRAL PART BEING PLASTIC. ANY OIL CHANGE COULD RESULT IN AN INSTANT $600-$1,000 EXPENSE FOR THE CONSUMER. IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE CONSUMER TO PROVE THE BROKEN PART WAS DUE TO OIL CHANGE NEGLIGENCE OR OVER-TIGHTENING. THE COST IS ENTIRELY LEFT ON THE CONSUMER EVEN IF ALL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE WORK IS COMPLETE. THIS HAS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE AT FIAT CHRYSLER/JEEP, AND MUST BE ADDRESSED BY A RECALL. I REPLACED THE PART, FOR APPROXIMATELY $600, WITH THE SAME PART. THIS COULD EASILY HAPPEN AGAIN AT MY NEXT OIL CHANGE, AND EVERY OIL CHANGE THEREAFTER. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GUESS IF THERE WILL BE A $600 REPAIR EVERY TIME I CHANGE MY OIL. *TR
TRANSMISSION FULL OF ANTIFREEZE. INTERNAL TRANSMISSION COOLER (IN RADIATOR) FAILED. CAUSED TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. *TR
BEGINNING OF FEB., LOST POWER ON FREEWAY. WENT FROM 65 TO 40 MPH AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHTS CAME ON. EXITED THE FWY AND DROVE TO DEALER WHERE I WAS TURNED AWAY DUE TO HIGH VOLUME. LEFT MY JEEP AT THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY WITH THIS ISSUE AND TO CORRECT CAMPAIGN #V51 RECALL. THE ENGINE LIGHT WASN'T LIT ANYMORE AND DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT SO I PICKED IT UP. COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, I FAILED THE SMOG CHECK I NEED TO REGISTER MY JEEP, AND AN ENGINE CODE SHOWED UP, P0394. I TOOK IT TO OTHER PLACES WHERE THE SAME CODE SHOWED UP AND WAS RECOMMENDED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. GOING DOWNHILL, MY FATHER EXPERIENCED THE SAME WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP. BEGINNING OF MARCH, OMW TO THE DEALER ON THE FWY, I LOST POWER AGAIN AND THE ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHTS CAME ON. I SHOWED THE DASHBOARD TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR, EXPLAINED THE CONTINUED PROBLEM AND THE CODE SHOWING UP. I LEFT MY JEEP THERE FOR SEVERAL DAYS BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. THE CODE WAS CLEARED WHEN I PICKED IT UP. THE FOLLOWING DAY, AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, THE ENGINE STALLED. I USED GRAVITY TO PARTLY MOVE BACK DOWN AS THERE WAS ANOTHER CAR DRIVING INTO THE LOT. I PUT IT ON "PARK" AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. NO ENGINE LIGHT THIS TIME. THIS MORNING I LOST POWER DRIVING TO THE FIRST STOP ON MY STREET (STOP ON MY SIDE ONLY). I HAD ALREADY ENTERED THE T-INTERSECTION BUT COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO TURN LEFT. I PUT IT IN "PARK" THEN BACK TO "DRIVE" AND ACCELERATED NORMALLY. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND BECAUSE OF THE CORONA VIRUS, BUT I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IF A COMING VEHICLE (WHO HAS THE RIGHT-A-WAY), DECIDED NOT TO SLOW DOWN.
I HAD RECALL PERFORMED ON JEEP BY BOB MOORE CHRYSLER IN TULSA. AFTER THEY DID SERVICE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IN LESS THAN TWO DAYS. WHEN WE TOOK JEEP BACK TO THEM THEY SAID IT WAS THE SPRING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR REPAIR. I CONTACTED JEEP' S CORPORATE OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THAT MY YEAR JEEP HAD A RECALL FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG SPRING BUT NOT FOR MY VIN. THEY TOLD ME TO MAKE A COMPLAINT ON HERE SO IT COULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LISTING.*DT
BEGAN LEAKING SMALL AMOUNT OF OIL UNDER JEEP AFTER USE. TOOK TO HAVE ISSUE INVESTIGATED. MECHANIC FOUND THE INTAKE GASKET ON REAR OF INTAKE CAUSING THE ISSUE. ESTIMATED COST TO FIX $600+ THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS JEEP, THUS JEEP HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD AND THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER DRIVE TRAIN WARRENTY OR A RECALL AS THIS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE.
ENGINEERING DEFECT I HAD TO REPLACE THE OIL PAN ON THE TRANSMISSION I FOUND THAT THE CONDENSATE FROM THE AIR CONDITION WAS DRAINING ON TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION AND RUNNING DOWN TO THE CORNER OF THE OIL PAN AND ROTTING THE PAN OUT. WILL SEND PICTURES I SENT THIS COMPLAINT IN BEFORE BUT DID NOT HEAR FROM YOU.
MY 2012 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY STARTED VIOLENTLY POPPING OUT OF FIRST GEAR. IT IS VERY RANDOM AND UNPREDICTABLE MAKING IT EVEN MORE DANGEROUS. I COULD BE PULLING OUT INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION, TAKING OFF FROM A STOP SIGN/ LIGHT OR PULLING OUT FROM A PARKING SPACE INTO TRAFFIC AND MY SHIFTER WILL SUDDENLY JUMP OUT OF FIRST GEAR INTO NEUTRAL, CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE ALL POWER. THERE IS A LOUD SOUND AND A FEELING OF SCRAPING LIKE THE GEARS ARE BEING STRIPPED. THE STEERING ALSO GETS VERY SHAKY EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS (APPROX 40 MPH) IN THE SAME WAY IT WOULD AT A HIGH SPEED WHEN IN NEED OF A HIGH SPEED BALANCE. THIS IS MY 3RD JEEP WRANGLER, ALL OF WHICH HAVE HAD MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS (A 1989, 2004 AND THIS 2012). I'VE DRIVEN MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES AND SPORTBIKES SINCE 1989 FROM TOYOTAS AND HONDAS TO VOLKSWAGENS TO SUZUKIS AND YAMAHAS AND I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS, NEVER EVEN BURNED OUT A CLUTCH, SO I CAN RULE OUT DRIVER ERROR. I PURCHASED THIS 2012 BRAND NEW AND HAD IT BUILD TO MY SPECIFICATIONS BECAUSE THERE WERE NO MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS AVAILABLE IN THE DEALER INVENTORY. I HAVE FOUND THAT 1000S OF OTHER JEEP OWNERS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE, NARROWLY ESCAPING SERIOUS COLLISIONS WHEN THE CARS JUMP OUT OF GEAR AND LOSE POWER. JEEP LOVERS ARE LOYAL AND SUPPORT THE BRAND. IT WOULD BE NICE IF CHRYSLER WOULD BE LOYAL TO ITS CUSTOMERS AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE FLAWS IN THEIR MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, RECALL THE OLD ONES AND CHANGE THE DESIGN OF THE NEW ONES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED.
MY JEEP WRANGLER 2012 JKU WILL SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE RUNNING. I HAVE A 18 MONTH OLD THAT RIDES IN THE BACKSEAT AND THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES THAT I HAVE FELT VERY UNSAFE FOR HIS LIFE AND MINE. I HAVE REPLACED 2 BATTERIES AS I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE ISSUE. NOW I AM SURE IT IS THE TIPM IS FAULTY. MY JEEP HAS UNDER 60K MILES ON IT. CHRYSLER/FIAT NEEDS TO PUT A RECALL ON THESE AS THEY ARE JUNK AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN MADE SO BAD AS THEY ARE THE BRAIN OF THE SUV. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY ON CITY STREET, TURNING, AND HIGHWAY RAMPS.
AFTER REPLACING BATTERY (2 X) AND HAVING ALL BATTERY CABLES THOROUGHLY CLEANED CAR WILL OCCASIONALLY NOT START FROM PARKED POSITION. ALTERNATOR AND STARTER ALL PASS TESTS AS OK. TURNS OUT WIN WIRELESS MODULE IS FAULTY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THERE IS GALVANIC CORROSION FORMING ON ALL OF MY HINGES ON MY VEHICLE. THE STEEL HINGES TOUCHING THE ALUMINIUM DOOR PANEL. YOU CAN SEE THE BUBBLING HAPPENING AND IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON JEEP WRANGLERS. EVENTUALLY IT WILL RUST AND CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS BEING THAT IT IS HAPPENING ON ALL OF MY DOOR HINGES. I FIRST NOTICED IT IN 2016 AND IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. YOU CAN GOOGLE RUST ON WRANGLER DOOR HINGES AND SEE THE THOUSANDS OF PICTURES OF JEEP OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES, OR GO ONTO A JEEP FORUM OR TALK TO ANY JEEP WRANGLER OWNER. I CAN PROVIDE MY OWN PICTURES IF NEEDED I DIDN'T TAKE ANY YET.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILURE. REPAIRS MADE TO WIRING, AND REPLACEMENT HEADLIGHT INSTALLED. LAMP STILL ONLY WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. AFFECTING LOW LIGHT VISIBILITY. POTENTIALLY AN ISSUE WITH TIPM WHICH HAS LEAD TO OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES, SUCH AS TRANSMISSION NOT ENGAGING. HAS CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE, AND CONTROL FAILURE IN OTHER VEHICLES. HAPPENS AT ANY TIME, STATIONARY, MOVING, FWD, REVERSE, TURNING, ETC.
WHILE APPROACHING A STOP-LIGHT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS (BUT NOT ON EVERY OCCASION), THE 3.6 LITER PENTASTAR ENGINE IN MY 2012 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT HAS STALLED, WHICH CAUSES IMMEDIATE & COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER-STEERING & HYDRAULIC BRAKE-POWER. TO RESTART THE ENGINE, I MUST SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK. TO PUT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO DRIVE AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER REQUIRES ME TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND DISRUPTIVE WHEN I'M IN TRAFFIC AND THERE IS NOT A REQUIREMENT TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP (FOR INSTANCE WHEN THE RED LIGHT TURNS GREEN WHILE I'M SLOWING). FURTHERMORE, THE ENGINE FREQUENTLY STALLS AT LOW SPEED IN PARKING LOTS AND ALSO WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY STOPPED.
JEEP STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING WHEN HITTING A BUMP IN A CITY ROAD, TIGHTENED LOSE SWAY BAR, BUT A COUPLE WEEKS LATER NOTICED VIOLENT SHAKING AGAIN WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED HOME. WILL NOT DRIVE AS I AM TERRIFIED OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND DEATH.
DRIVING HOME EVERY LIGHT ON MY DASH STARTED BLINKING, NO RPM, NO SPEEDOMETER. BLINKERS DID NOT WORK. WHEN I TURNED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, PARKED AND I TURNED THE KEY BUT JEEP DID NOT TURN OFF. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE MY KEY OUT AND THE JEEP STAYED RUNNING FOR A MINUTE THEN TURNED OFF. JEEP WOULD NOT RESTART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SINCE EARLY NOVEMBER OF 2019, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" FOUR SEPARATE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH. THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO TURN LEFT AND RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING AND THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL STEADY AND BRAKE SLOWLY. THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO BE CONTROLLED WHEN IT SLOWED DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. MOSS BROS. CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (27810 EUCALYPTUS AVE, MORENO VALLEY, CA 92555, (855) 999-8991) STATED THAT THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AND ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AND CHARGE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COST AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

DESIGN FLAW IN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HANDLE PREVENTS IT FROM ENGAGING CORRECTLY. WEAK SPRING NOT DIRECT CABLE ATTACHMENT. NEVER HOLDS AT ALL.
UNDER HARD ACCELERATION, LIKE PASSING A CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE WHICH HAS NEARLY CAUSED ME TO WRECK 4 TO 5 TIMES DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER TO PERFORM THE RECALL ON THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WHICH THEY PERFORMED AND AS A RESULT OF THAT REPLACEMENT I NOW HAVE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH, THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS NO LONGER WORK, HORN INCLUDED AND WHEN I MENTIONED IT TO THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THEY INDICATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO INCUR THE COST OF DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM AND COVERING THE COSTS. ALL WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL THE AIRBAG RECALL. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE VEHICLE WAS IN A BAY BEING WORKED ON FOR THE RECALL. THE DATE REFLECTS THE DAY THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STOPPED WORKING
CLOCK SPRING MALFUNCTION: HORN AND STEERING WHEEL ELECTRONICS INOPERABLE.
THERE IS A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM CYLINDER HEAD. THIS IS A ISSUE THAT A LOT OF 2011-2012 JEEP WRANGLERS HAVE BEEN HAVING. IT IS NOT FAIR THAT THIS COST SHOULD COME OUT OF OUR POCKET. JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM ALL THE JEEP REVIEWS I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE POSTING WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
WE USE THIS JEEP ONLY FOR HIGHWAY TRAVEL. IT HAS 48,000 MILES. ON OUR WAY TO CHURCH, YES UNBELIEVABLY WE HAD A STRONG SMELL OF 'GASOLINE' ONCE WE ARRIVED BACK HOME THERE WAS A STEADY STREAM OF GASOLINE RUNNING DOWN THE BELL HOUSING OF THE TRANSMISSION TO THE GROUND, THIS WAS IN AN AREA ABOUT UNDERNEATH THE FRONT SEATS OR NEAR THE REAR OF THE ENGINE. THIS LEAK OCCURRED ONLY WHILE THE JEEP WAS IDLING. ONCE WE TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, THE GASOLINE STOPPED LEAKING OR RUNNING DOWN THE BELL HOUSING. THE GREATLY ALARMED US DUE TO THE POTENTIAL IT COULD EASILY HAVE IGNITED TO FLAMES SINCE THIS WAS VERY FLAMMABLE GASOLINE LEAKING WAS SO CLOSE TO SO MANY OTHER HOT EXHAUST PARTS. WE HAD TO TOW THE JEEP (OBVIOUSLY NOT DRIVING IT LEAKING SO MUCH GAS ANY LONGER) TO OUR JEEP DEALER SERVICE CENTER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THEY DISCOVERED A SMALL LENGTHWISE SPLIT IN THE FORWARD HARD PLASTIC FUEL LINE SEVERAL INCHES FROM WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE FUEL RAIL. THIS IS THE FUEL LINE TUBE THAT GOES TO THE END OF THE ENGINE. I HAD SEVERAL TIMES REQUESTED THE JEEP DEALER TO SAVE THE OLD DEFECTIVE PARTS BUT THEY THREW THEM AWAY. I HONESTLY DONT KNOW IF THAT WAS BY DESIGN TO AVOID A RECALL OR NOT, I CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE PHOTOGRAPHED THE SPLIT WOULD I HAVE HAD THE PART.
FIRST MY POWER WINDOWS WOULDN'T WORK WHILE DRIVING, I PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THAT TEMPORARILY FIXED THE ISSUE (IT HAS HAPPEN TWICE SINCE). THAT SAME DAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE USING MY CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 70MPH AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT DOWN AND DISABLED ITSELF WHILE KEEPING THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT ON AND NOT ALLOWING ME TO TURN OFF OR RESET THE CRUISE CONTROL. (THESE LIGHTS WENT OUT THE FOLLOWING DAY). A COUPLE DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING, A WARNING OF THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE TURN SIGNAL BEING OUT CAME ON (THIS COMES AND GOES NOW ALMOST DAILY). LAST NIGHT WHILE MY JEEP WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME THE HEADLIGHTS AND DOME LIGHT STARTED COMING ON RANDOMLY. THE HEADLIGHT AND DOME LIGHT SWITCH WHERE BOTH IN THE OFF POSITION AND THE KEYS WERE ON MY KITCHEN TABLE INSIDE THE HOUSE (THIS IS CONTINUING TO HAPPEN IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK ALSO). WHEN I GOT IN IT TO GO TO WORK AND WHILE IDLING THE HAZARDS LIGHTS WOULD RANDOMLY BLINK TWICE AND THEN STOP, WAIT A COUPLE MINUTES AND HAPPEN AGAIN. WHILE SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK I NOTICED THAT WHEN THIS HAPPEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ALSO TURNING ON, THEY TURNED OFF AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO, AND THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. IT IS A RAINY DAY BUT BRIGHT ENOUGH THAT I COULD NOT TELL IF THE LIGHTS WERE RANDOMLY GOING IN AND OUT WHILE DRIVING. REGARDLESS THIS IS TURNING IN TO A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND IT SEEMS TO BE ALL TOO COMMON WITH THESE FIAT-CHRYSLER VEHICLES.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, WITH A P0302 #2 CYLINDER MISFIRE READING. AFTER REPLACING CONSUMABLE PARTS (SPARK PLUGS, ENGINE COIL) RESET ENGINE LIGHT, THE CODE P0302 RETURNED AFTER 15-20 MILES DRIVING. THIS ISSUE IS A WELL KNOW PROBLEM WITH THE 3.6L ENGINE, AND REQUIRES INTERNAL ENGINE REPAIR (LIFTERS, ROCKER, AND/OR CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT). AN OPEN SERVICE BULLETIN EXISTS, BUT SEVERAL JK VEHICLES WITH THE SIMILAR ISSUE CAUSE PARTS BACKORDER. IF CONTINUE DRIVING WITH THIS ISSUE HAPPENS, MORE SERIOUS DAMAGE WILL RESULT TO THE VEHICLE. AS OTHER COMPLAINTS INDICATED, THIS SITUATION SHOULD BE CLASSED AS A RECALL.
ATTEMPTED TO START MY JEEP ON THE STREET PARKING AND THE ALARM WENT OFF, HORN BLARING, WIPERS AND FLUID ON CONSTANT, ALL LIGHTS FLASHING, REVERSE LIGHTS ON, AND IT WOULD NOT START. PULLED THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) AND SENT IT OUT FOR REPAIR. WAS TOLD THE TIPM WAS IN COMPLETE FAILURE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. SEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND THAT 2007-2015 TIPMS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND IT WAS REJECTED.
JEEP SAHARA UNLIMITED GOES NEARLY UNSTABLE (AGGRESSIVE FRONT END OSCILLATION) WHEN HITTING POTHOLES/BUMPS AT SPEED (~50-60 MPH), ONLY WAY TO STOP IS TO SLOW DOWN TO NEARLY 10-20 MPH. VERY DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAY OR ANY ROAD GOING AT SPEED FOR FEAR OF GETTING HIT IN REAR AS YOU SLOW DOWN. HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS (100+) TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, I MINIMIZE THE ISSUE BY AVOIDING KNOWN POTHOLES/BUMPS ON ROADS I USE. THIS IS APPARENTLY KNOWN BY FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES AND THEY APPARENTLY HAVE A FIX (NEW STEERING DAMPER), JUST SEARCH "JEEP DEATH WOBBLE" OR "FCA SAFETY ISSUES" ON GOOGLE, HUNDREDS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, APPARENTLY NOW A LAWSUIT. HAVE BROUGHT CAR IN AND JEEP SERVICE AND THEY ACT LIKE THEY ARE UNAWARE OF IT. SAME WITH FCA / MOPAR SERVICE. THEY ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF IT. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND ALL JEEPS WITH THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RECALLED. JUST WATCH THE VIDEOS ONLINE OF THIS HAPPENING, THERE ARE PLENTY OF THEM.

DEALER INDICATES DRIVING VEHICLE LIKELY TO WORSEN CONDITION, AND ADVISES TO KEEP UNTIL PARTS AVAILABLE. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. THIS HAS BEEN A CONSISTENT ISSUE FOR THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. I BELIEVE IT FIRST OCCURRED IN 2016. THE VEHICLE WILL JUST STALL ON A CITY STREET, IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, OR EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. FUEL WAS NOT RELATED AS IT HAS HAPPENED ON A FULL TANK OF GAS OR A QUARTER TANK. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS (THAT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED) BECAUSE OF THIS DANGEROUS HAZARD, AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE SO IT WAS NEVER FIXED. I EVEN SHOWED THEM VIDEO EVIDENCE 3 TIMES. THE VEHICLE JUST STALLS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING (IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC). THE RPM WOULD JUST GO TO ZERO, AND WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR BACK UP, IT WOULD TRY TO CRANK, BUT WOULD NOT START. THE CAR WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF FOR 5 MINUTES AND THEN THE CAR WOULD EVENTUALLY START AGAIN. THIS WOULD OCCUR AT LEAST 1/MONTH FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REPLACED FUEL PUMP, AND CHECKED OTHER COMPONENTS AS THE ENGINE LIGHT NEVER TURNED ON, AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON AMONG THIS MODEL YEAR JEEP, AND JEEP CONTINUES TO CLAIM NO FAULT. SOMEONE COULD DIE IF THEIR CAR STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH CARS GOING 70+ MPH. AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER MAY BE ABLE TO MANEUVER, BUT CERTAINLY AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER WOULD NOT. THIS VEHICLE WAS INTENDED TO BE FOR A TEENAGE CHILD, BUT I COULD NOT KNOWINGLY GIVE THIS TO THEM HAVING THIS UNRESOLVED ISSUE. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, I BELIEVE IT IS A FAULTY OR DEFECTIVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, BUT JEEP REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AND CONTINUES TO SAY THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE, YET THE CAR HAS CONTINUED TO STALL ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS STILL. THEY SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR ANY SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH THAT MAY POTENTIALLY OCCUR! I WILL BE TAKING THIS VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED ELSEWHERE AFTER MY OWN RESEARCH AND TROUBLESHOOTING.

THE FM/AM RADIO ALSO NO LONGER WORKS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID MY CLOCK SPRINGS WENT OUT. I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT MY AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING IN A CRASH. NONE OF THESE WORK, WHETHER THE CAR IS MOVING OR STATIONARY.
JEEP WAS GETTING OVER 20MPG THEN SUDDENLY STARTED DROPPING AT A RAPID RATE NOW 1YR AFTER PURCHASE IS GETTING AVERAGE 12.9MTG. DOWN TO 9MTG. HIGHWAY OR TORREVIEJA DOESN'T APPEAR TO EFFECT THESE NUMBERS, NOT IN WRONG GEARS, OIL CHANGES CURRENT, TIRES BALANCED AND AIR CORRECT.
