ON COLD DAYS AFTER THE JEEP HAS BEEN SITTING OVERNIGHT, THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE JEEP IS STARTED AND IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF THE CAR IS RUNNING FOR 30 SECONDS BEFORE IT IS SHIFTED OR RUNNING FOR 3 MINUTES, THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. THIS HAPPENED LAST WINTER AND HAS STARTED DOING IT AGAIN NOW THAT ITS COLD.
WITHIN THE PAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO REPAIR TWO ABS SENSORS, ONE IN THE FRONT AND ONE IN THE REAR. THIS LAST SENSOR BLOWOUT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS STOPPING AT A LIGHT. I HEARD A GRINDING SOUND AND FELT THE VIBRATION IN THE BREAK PEDDLE AS I TRIED TO STOP. THE JEEP THEN WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY AFTER I GOT IT STOPPED AS I TRIED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD A PROBLEM MOVING THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD AS THE ABS KEPT KICKING IN AND GRINDING ME TO A STOP. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE SENSOR WAS HAVING A ISSUE PICKING UP THE SPEED OF THE TIRES. MY JEEP WRANGLER SPORT IS A 2016 4 DOOR MODEL, IT SPENT 2017 IN A STORAGE AND I BOUGHT IT LATE 2016. IT CURRENTLY HAS 68795 MILES ON IT. IN THE 2 1/2 YEARS I HAVE HAD THIS ON THE ROAD I'VE REPLACED TWO ABS SENSORS, HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR MISFIRING AND MY AC UNITS BLOWER MOTOR SEEMS TO BE FAILING. AS A COMPARISON, I HAVE A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER THAT HAS BEEN IN FOR LESS REPAIRS.
UPON MY FIRST START OF THE DAY (COLD START) MY JEEP STARTS NO ISSUE AT ALL BOTH REMOTE START AND STANDARD IGNITION. WHEN I PUT MY JEEP INTO REVERSE, THE RPM'S DROP AND THE JEEP SHUTTERS AND THEN STALLS. SOMETIMES IT DOES A HARD SHUTTER LOW IDLE AND CAN STAY ALIVE BUT USUALLY STALLS. DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE BUT I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL FORUMS THAT SAY IT'S THE TORQUE CONVERTER. PLEASE HELP.
TORQUE CONVERTOR STALLS ENGINE AND SHUTTERS WHEN COLD. START THE ENGINE, TRY TO PUT IN GEAR AND IT EITHER STALLS OR MAKES THE ENTIRE JEEP SHUDDER. THE JEEP HAS TO BE COMPLETELY WARMED UP BEFORE PUTTING INTO GEAR OR IT STALLS/SHUDDERS. IT HAS STALLED ONCE WHEN GOING TO A STOP AND I HAD NO POWER ANYTHING (STEERING, ABS. . .) AND ENDED UP IN THE INTERSECTION. WARRANTY PERSON WENT TO DEALER AND DENIED REPAIR WORK. I HAVE ON VIDEO (SEVERAL TIMES) THAT IT STALLS/SHUDDERS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FROM THE SEVERAL MECHANICS (NOT JUST MY DEALER) THAT I HAVE SPOKE TO. MY DEALERSHIP WHERE I GET ALL REPAIRS HAS IT ON RECORD OF STALLING/SHUDDERING WHEN I LEFT IT THERE TO TRY GETTING THE REPAIRS. UNABLE TO UPLOAD VIDEOS HERE TO SHOW WHAT IT DOES.
NOTICED OIL LEAKING ALL UNDER CARRIAGE OF VEHICLE. OIL BEING DISPLAYED FROM FRONT OF ENGINE TO BACK OF JEEP. SMELL OIL AND EVEN SEE SMOKE.POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD.
WHEN STARTING CAR -ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER-AND BACKING OUT OF PARKING AREA ENGINE WILL STALL/JAR AND AT TIMES DIE OUT REQUIRING PUTTING INTO PARK AND RESTARTING. CONCERN IS IF THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT NOT BEING MOVED FAST ENOUGH. THERE IS A WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE AND THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR 6MO + AND IS CONTINUOUSLY QUESTIONED AND EVALUATED. WE'VE BEEN TOLD IT HAS OCCURRED IN OTHER JEEPS AND THERE IS A FIX BUT THIS HAS YET TO BE CORRECTED FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
PURCHASED PRE-OWNED ON NOV 9, 2019 WITH APPROX 23,100 MILES. ON JAN 2, 2020, AT APPROX 23,900 MILES, JEEP WAS ASCENDING EXIT RAMP WHILE BRAKING. CRUISE WAS ON BUT DISENGAGED. STARTED TO ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY AND WITH BRAKE PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED, COLLIDED WITH CAR STOPPED AT LIGHT. SHUT ENGINE OFF AS JEEP CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AGAINST STOPPED CAR. ACCIDENT REPORT MADE. TOOK TO DEALER, WHO COULD FIND NO CAUSE FOR RANDOM ACCELERATION. DEALER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER WHO SENT 3RD PARTY INSPECTOR TO EXAMINE JEEP AND CONTENTS OF DATA RECORDER. RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MANUFACTURER TWO WEEKS LATER STATING THEY DID NOT 'BELIEVE' THE VEHICLE WAS AT FAULT. ON FEB 28, 2020 AT 24,564 MILES, JEEP WAS STOPPED AT LIGHT ON EXIT RAMP, WHEN SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. CRUISE WAS OFF. IMMEDIATELY SHUT ENGINE OFF, BUT WAS STILL PUSHED FORWARD A COUPLE FEET. LUCKILY WAS ALONE AT LIGHT, SO NO ACCIDENT. TOOK TO DEALER AGAIN, WHO COULD STILL FIND NO CAUSE. THEY AGAIN CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT I HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED ANY FURTHER WORD.*DT VIN UNAVAILABLE*JB
AUTO TRANS: SLIGHT ROUGH IDLE AT STOP IN GEAR, ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WHEN PUT IN REVERSE RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN FIRST DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY EVEN WHEN VEHICLE HAS WARMED UP.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON THE CARPOOL LANE, GOING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 70 MPH, I DROVE OVER A POTHOLE/ROAD IMPERFECTION AND THE JEEP BEGAN SHAKING SEVERELY TO A POINT OF ALMOST LOSING CONTROL OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. DURING THE SHAKING THE WHEELS SWERVE SIDE TO SIDE AND CAUSES THE JEEP TO BECOME JUMPY AND RATTLE. IN ORDER TO SAFELY STOP THE SHAKING AND NOT LOSE CONTROL I HAD TO SLOW DOWN UNTIL COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE CARPOOL LANE, I COULD NOT PULL OVER DUE TO NO SHOULDER. THE CARS BEHIND SAW THE SHAKING AND SLOWED TO KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE, HOWEVER IF THEY HADN'T IT COULD'VE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. DURING THE SHAKING I ALSO HAVE TO GRAB TIGHTLY TO THE STEERING WHEEL SO AS TO NOT VEER ON TO VEHICLES OR WALLS NEXT TO ME. I MANAGED TO GET OUT OF THE CARPOOL LANE AND MADE MY WAY TO THE FARTHEST RIGHT LANE AND DROVE NO FASTER THAN 60 MPH FOR FEAR OF THE SHAKING/LOSING CONTROL TO REOCCUR.
AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 20 MINS THE RADIATOR FAN WOULD RUN AT FULL SPEED TO COOL THE ENGINE. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP 12/31/2019 AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING WITH NO WARNING. THE SERVICE ADVISOR CLAIMED THAT RUNNING THE HEAT TOO HIGH INSIDE THE VEHICLE PROBABLY CAUSED THE RADIATOR TO CRACK AND LEAK... THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 40K MILES ON IT WHEN THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY.
VEHICLE STALLS WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE WHEN COLD. THIS DOES NOT MEAN ONLY FIRST START OF THE DAY. WHEN TRANSMISSION FLUID IS UNDER 120 DEGREES, IT WILL STALL IN REVERSE WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED. UPON RESTART, THE STARTER WILL ENGAGE FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTS, THE STARTER WILL CONTINUE TO RUN TOO LONG. WHEN THE VEHICLE RESTARTS AFTER A STALL, IT WILL IDLE ROUGH WHEN SHIFTED BACK INTO REVERSE. NO PROBLEMS IN DRIVE. STARTED AT A MILEAGE OF AROUND 35,000. VEHICLE NOW AT 58,000 AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED.
RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 60 AND ABOVE, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERE SHAKING ON THE 2016 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED THAT CAUSES US TO PULL OVER AND COME TO A STOP WHILE STILL ON THE HIGHWAY. SHAKING HAS OCCURRED ON NOVEMBER 24TH, 2019 AFTER DRIVING OVER POTHOLES/ROAD JOINTS ON THE FREEWAY; AND AGAIN, ON DECEMBER 26, 2019 ON A STRAIGHT SURFACE ON THE FREEWAY. ONE HAS TO HOLD ON TIGHT TO THE STEERING WHEEL SO AS TO KEEP FROM VEERING OUT OF CONTROL AND ONTO ANOTHER VEHICLE/ROAD SEPARATOR BECAUSE THE JEEP'S TIRES BEGIN TO SWERVE SIDE TO SIDE RAPIDLY. THE SWERVING TIRES CAUSES THE JEEP TO RATTLE AND BECOME JUMPY. THE SEVERE SHAKING ALSO FEELS AS IF A TIRE IS COMING OFF AND WILL BREAK DOWN THEN AND THERE. SLOWING ONE'S SPEED AND SLOWLY PRESSING ON THE BREAK HELPS SLOW AND EVENTUALLY STOP THE SHAKING ONCE COMPLETELY STOPPED. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE JEEP AND MUST BE EXTRA ATTENTIVE AT ALL TIMES NOW FOR FEAR OF LOSING CONTROL. THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN.
THE VEHICLE LEAKS WATER FROM THE FRONT DOORS AND FILLS THE FLOOR WITH WATER WHEN IT RAINS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST WINTER UNDER THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BUT IT STARTED LEAKING AGAIN THIS WINTER. UPON DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH I DISCOVERED THIS A PERVASIVE WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH ALOT OF JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS. I ASKED MY SISTER INLAW IF HER NEW JEEP WAS LEAKING AND IT IS. I ALSO WENT INTO SOME JEEP FORUMS AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS A VERY COMMON ISSUE DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN THE WAY THE DOORS SEAL AND THE WAY THE DESIGN DISPERSES WATER. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT AND MY CONCERN IS THE CARPET ROTTING OUT,MOLD AS WELL AS THE FLOOR PAN CORRODING AS NOTED BY OTHER JEEP OWNERS.
ON COLD START THE VEHICLE STALL WHEN YOU PLACE IT INTO GEAR. RPMS DROP BEFORE STALLING. HAPPEN WITH AND WITHOUT AUTO START.
ON FIRST START OF THE DAY IN COLD WEATHER, AFTER STARTING ENGINE AND SHIFTING INTO R (WITH BRAKE PEDAL APPLIED), CAR WILL FREQUENTLY DROP INTO EXTREMELY LOW RPM RANGE (<= 500RPM) AND/OR STALL AND DIE COMPLETELY. THIS IS PRIMARILY ONLY ON THE FIRST START OF THE DAY AND IN COLDER WEATHER (SUB 40F DEGREE)
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A CITY STREET AND THE PERSON COMING THE OTHER DIRECTION CROSSED THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE. WE COLLIDED HEAD ON AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD RECENTLY REPLACED THE AIRBAG DUE TO A RECALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THIS ACCIDENT RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE BEING TOTALED. FURTHERMORE I RECEIVED SEVERAL INJURIES INCLUDING A CONCUSSION AND WHIPLASH. THE AIRBAG DID DEPLOY ON THE KIA THAT HIT ME.
RECEIVED NOTICE FROM JEEP THAT A RECALL WAS IN EFFECT FOR THE AIRBAG SENSOR SWITCH LOCATED SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE FRONT BUMPER.. THE SWITCH MAYBE DISCONNECTED AT TIME OF IMPACT AND NOT MESSAGE THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY... THE HARD ROCK ADDITION JEEP HAS AN ACCESS PORT LOCATED WITHIN THE FRONT BUMPER SPECIFICALLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF INSTALLING A WINCH/WINCH PLATE... DEALERSHIP ADVISED IT WOULD COST ADDITIONAL 100 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE RECALL AS THE WINCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED PARTIALLY OR IN TOTAL... CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE / CASE MANAGEMENT AT JEEP CORP AND WAS ADVISED IT WOULD NOT COVER THE COST TO REMOVE THE WINCH THAT IT WAS MORE OR LESS BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP AND ME.. MY THOUGHTS ARE THAT THE BUMPER WAS DESIGNED BY JEEP TO INSTALL A WINCH INSIDE THE BUMPER WITH TOP AND FRONT REMOVABLE PLATES AND THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE REGARDLESS....

WHEN WE 1ST START THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING AND PUT INTO REVERSE THE VEHICLE DIES. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ONE TIME AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY FLASHED THREE COMPUTER AND IT STOPPED FOR A WHILE BUT HAS STARTED BACK UP AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WOODHOUSE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT (2101 6TH ST, SIOUX CITY, IA 51101, (712) 277-3221) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE CAMSHAFT CAUSED BY ROCKER ARM FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE CAMSHAFT AND ROCKER ARMS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WOODHOUSE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT (LOCATED AT 2101 6TH ST, SIOUX CITY, IA 51101, (712) 277-3221) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INTAKE CAMSHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE INTAKE CAMSHAFT ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
I started my Jeep. After a few minutes I could smell smoke and something burning. The alarm started going off, wipers came on, radio etc. smoke came inside cab . I tried to shut everything off but it wasn’t working. I started seeing flames around the hood. My husband was able to disconnect the battery and the fire died out. Insurance would not cover it and said it was electrical. The fuse box was melted and wire harnesses. The vehicle was right by our garage and could’ve caught our house on fire. My son and I were in the vehicle when the fire started. Thank God we weren’t hurt. I did report this but was told it wasn’t Jeeps fault. A week later another jeep caught fire in the small town I live in. Something isn’t right.
WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE, ONLY FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, AND I ATTEMPT TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, IT STALLS OUT. ON SOME OCCASIONS THE RMP'S WILL DROP BUT IT WON'T ACTUALLY STALL OUT. THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THIS SITE AND ALL OVER THE JEEP FORUM. IT IS THE TORQUE CONVERTER, THIS WAS REPLACED IN MY VEHICLE. IT TOOK TWO DIFFERENT TRIPS, TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSIS AND FIX THE PROBLEM AS IT IS INTERMITTENT. I AM UNSURE WHY THIS IS NOT A RECALL AS SO MANY JEEP OWNERS APPEAR TO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM.
BLOWN HEAD GASKET ON A VEHICLE WITH THAT IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD
CONTACT STATED VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. WEEK BEFORE, ANTI SKID AND THE ABS WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON BUT SHUTS OFF. DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD WHEN ENGINE DIED. FIRE BROKE OUT INSTANTLY FROM THE FRONT RIGHT CONSUMING ENTIRE VEHICLE. WE HAD JUST LEFT A DIRT ROAD ONTO THE PAVED ROAD, DROVE ABOUT 200-300 YARDS WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED.*DT*JB
THE FIRST INCIDENCE, THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES SEIZED WHILE DRIVING ON A DRY EVENING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25MPH CAUSING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME TO NEARLY COLLIDE AND FORCING US BOTH OFF THE ROAD. I HAD IT LOOKED AT BH A MECHANIC AND HE FOUND NOTHING SO SAID TO BRING IT BACK NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS. THE VEHICLE WAS FINE FOR A WEEK AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN FROM THE DRIVEWAY. IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES ON THE ROAD NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND SEVERAL OTHER TIMES FORCING DRIVERS BEHIND ME TO PASS. I FIND IT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST MILE OR 2 AFTER STARTING A DRIVE AND THEN IS OK. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SUGGESTED REPLACE ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL MODULES ASSOCIATED WITH BRAKES AND REPLACE THE BRAKES AND PADS SINCE THE SEIZING OF THE ABS HAS CAUSED PREMATURE WEAR OF THE BRAKES. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS BUT CANNOT AFFORD $1300 REPAIR ESPECIALLY IF IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER SAFETY RECALL.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENTERING THE ROADWAY (RIGHT TURN) AND AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE BRAKES APPLIED WITHOUT WARNING OR HUMAN INTERVENTION. WHEN THIS SITUATION OCCURRED 2 DASH WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED, THE 'ESC ACTIVATED' AND THE 'ABS'LIGHT ACTIVATED. THIS CREATES AN UNEXPECTED SITUATION FOR THOSE VEHICLES TRAVELING BEHIND AND NOT EXPECTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THEM TO SUDDENLY BRAKE. JEEP HAS INDICATED THE FAILURE OF A WHEEL SPEED SENSOR TO BE THE CAUSE OF THIS SUDDEN BRAKING.
ON A COLD MORNING, I STARTED IT UP, PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT SPUTTERED AND STALLED OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW. ONLINE INVESTIGATING INDICATES THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER MAY BE THE CULPRIT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BICE MOTOR, INC. 2133 CHEROKEE RD, ALEXANDER CITY, AL 35010, PHONE NUMBER: 256-392-7538) WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HOWEVER, THE DEALER USED A REPAIR KIT TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE REPAIR PERFORMED BUT IT FAILED TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,000. *TR *DT*JB

JEEP STALLS WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE, THEN HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING FROM AN IDLE, SUCH AS TAKING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT.
TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AND ABS LIGHT ALSO CAME ON.CAR STALL AND THE CAR WAS ABOUT TO TURN OK BY ITSELF.,THIS HAPPENED WHILE MY WAS ON HER WAY HOME FROM WORK.SO SHE TOLD ME AND I WENT TO CHECK IT OUT FOR SURE THE CAR DID THE SAME EXACT THINGS AS SHE EXPLAINS.I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIPFOR SERVICE WHICH THEY SERVICE THE CAR AND FLUSH THE ENGINE ON THE 10/08/19 AND THE TRACTION LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND ABS LIGHT WAS ALSO ON SO I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER AND TOLD THEM.THIS IS WHEN THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE TO SENT IT OUT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC THAT WOULD COURSE ME $140 THEN TO GET FIX PARTS AND LABOR GOING TO BE EXTRA.I DON'T GET HOW A CAR WITH 28000 MILES CAN START GIVING SUCHPROBLEMS. THIS IS THE SAME DEALERSHIP I ORDERED THE CAR IN 2015.
9/27/2019. 4:30PM. ACCELERATED NORMALLY ON CITY STREET FROM STOP LIGHT AND MADE LEFT TURN. AS I TURNED, ENGINE CHOKED AND STUMBLED AND VEHICLE HAD REDUCED POWER, SLOWING VEHICLE. TRACTION CONTROL DASH LIGHT CAME ON. CAR BEHIND ALMOST HIT ME. AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS, ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL AND VEHICLE PICKED UP SPEED. 10-15 SECONDS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN WITH TRACTION CONTROL AND ANTI LOCK BRAKE DASH LIGHTS COMING ON. ENGINE REDUCED POWER AND VEHICLE SLOWED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC. AFTER 10 SECONDS, ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL, DASH LIGHTS WENT OFF. VEHICLE HAS BEEN NORMAL SINCE THEN. WEATHER AT THE TIME: SUNNY, 85 DEGREES, DAYLIGHT. ROADS COMPLETELY DRY. VEHICLE DID NOT DRIVE THRU WATER, ETC. HAD BEEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS 25-40 MPH FOR 20 MINUTES. CALLED DEALER. NO HELP ON PHONE. TOOK VEHICLE TO JEEP DEALER ON NOV 6, 2019 AND THEY FOUND CODE "C1043 PERFORMANCE" BUT SAID NOTHING MORE. TECH WRITE UP SAYS "LEFT REAR TONE WHEEL PERFORMANCE CODE HAS GONE STORED. NO CAUSE PRESENT. RESET CODE". ABOUT 35,800 MILES ON VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD OR MODIFIED IN ANY WAY. STOCK WRANGLER 4 DOOR SPORT.
I TOOK MY JEEP FOR AN OIL CHANGE SERVICE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME HE FOUND A LEAK ON THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTIONS, I DISCOVER THE ENGINE OIL COOLER HAS A LEAK. I WAS TOLD THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY BECAUSE IS OVER THE 60K. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A NON-ISSUE WITH THE 3.6L ENGINE NHTSA ID # 10138863. WE NEED HELP MAKING THE MANUFACTURER RESPONSIBLE FOR FAULTY PRODUCTS.
JEEP WAS STATIONARY WAITING FOR LIGHT TO CHANGE ON CITY STREET. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN I STEPPED ON ACCELERATOR; WHILE STILL PUSHING FOOT DOWN ON PEDAL THE ENGINE STARTED TO REV UP TO MAX RPMS BUT JEEP WAS NOT MOVING FORWARD. I WAS AFRAID THE ENGINE WOULD KEEP REVVING AND BLOW UP. I INSTANTLY REMOVED FOOT FROM GAS AND LET JEEP ROLL; PUT ON EMERGENCY FLASHING LIGHTS AND TURNED (ROLLED OFF) TO PARKING LOT ONE BLOCK AWAY AND TURNED JEEP OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I RESTARTED CAR AND SLOWLY DROVE THE SIX BLOCKS HOME. TOOK IT TO AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALER AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD FIND NO ERROR CODE, SAID THAT THEY TEST DROVE IT AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE JEEP.

THIS WOULD RECTIFY ITSELF BUT THE BRAKES FELT WEAKER FOR STOPPING THIS HAPPENED OFF AND ON FOR A FEW DAYS . WE TOOK TO A LOCAL GARAGE BECAUSE IT WAS DANGEROUS PARTIALLY LOSING CONTROL. HE FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE A COLLAPSED BRAKE LINE. WE BOUGHT THE JEEP BRAND NEW AND IT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 39000 MILES. HE SAID THE BRAKE LINE WAS EITHER DEFECTIVE AND OR JUST A CHEAP PART. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION LOSING PARTIAL CONTROL. IT ALSO RUINED THE BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR DO TO GLAZING.

THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND LEAKED COOLANT AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,978.
MY HOOD FLUTTERS AT ANY SPEED ABOVE ROUGHLY 35MPH. IT FLUTTERS SO BAD THAT I BELIEVE THE RUBBER STRAPS ARE GOING TO BREAK WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE HOOD TO OPEN AND BLOCK THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. IT IS 100% WORSE WHEN PASSING A TRACTOR TRAILER OR ANY TYPE OF BIGGER TRUCK.

AFTER A NEW TOP-OF-THE-LINE BATTERY WAS INSTALLED, THE DASH RED SECURITY LIGHT WOULD FLASH CONSTANTLY WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. JUST ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE FIRE THE JEEP WAS SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP TO ACCOMPLISH TWO SAFETY RECALL ITEMS RELATED TO AN AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS AND AIRBAG MODULE. THE JEEP'S WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE (WCM) WAS DIAGNOSED TO HAVE AN INTERNAL FAILURE BUT WAS NOT REPLACED AT THAT TIME DUE TO A WARRANTY DISPUTE AND ALSO AVAILABILITY OF THE MODULE. PRIOR TO THE BATTERY FAILURE, WHICH WAS JUST 1 WEEK BEYOND THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY DATE, THIS 2016 JEEP WRANGLER WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAD ZERO MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY SERVICING OUTSIDE OF ROUTINE OIL CHANGES AND SERVICE CHECKS. THE FIRE STARTED QUICKLY AND BURNED EXTREMELY HOT BURNING THROUGH THE FIREWALL AND INTO THE CABIN IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. FORTUNATELY THE OCCUPANT WAS ABLE TO EGRESS WITHOUT INJURY. THIS JEEP, WITH LESS THAN 16,000 MILES, IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE HOTSPOT ON THE HOOD APPEARS TO BE AROUND THE LOCATION OF THE FUSE BOX. ATTEMPTS TO EXTINGUISH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE WITH A PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER WERE FUTILE.*DT *TR
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY IS MADE OF PLASTIC THAT CRACKS. THIS LEADS TO OIL LEAKING AND SEVERAL INCHES OF OIL SITS IN THE V OF THE HOT ENGINE UNTIL IT SPILLS OVER. THIS IS A DEFINITE FIRE HAZARD. FCA NEEDS TO RECALL WITH A REDESIGNED PART MADE OF METAL. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED MINE TWICE IN 1 YR. REPLACING IT WITH THE SAME PART IS NOT FIXING IT. FAILED AT 29K MILES AND NOW AT 42K MILES. THIS IS A $1000 REPAIR EACH TIME. MINE WAS COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE QUALITY AND PRACTICES. I NOTICED OIL LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THIS TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS THE REAR MAIN SEAL. I NOTICED BURNT OIL IN THE V OF THE ENGINE BLOCK AS WELL. TO MY SUPRISE, SAME PART HAS FAILED ALREADY. PARTS FAILING AT THIS LOW OF MILEAGE ARE A DESIGN FLAW THAT IS BEING IGNORED BY FCA. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. OH... ONE LAST THING..WHILE THE MECHANIC HAD IT APART, HE NOTICED THE HEAD GASKET WAS LEAKING TOO SO HE REPLACED THAT AT 29K MILES. NO WONDER CHRYSLER/FIAT IS THE WORST CAR MAKER IN THE WORLD.
I BUCKLED MY SEATBELT AND FELT IT SLIP AS IF IT HAD COME UNBUCKLED. THE SEATBELT WAS LATCHED, BUT THE METAL BETWEEN THE LATCH AND THE SEAT FRAME HAD BROKEN IN TWO. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE WAS A TWO YEAR WARRANTY, WHICH HAS EXPIRED.THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE REPAIR COST IS APPROXIMATELY $1200.00. MY COMPLAINT IS THE REPLACEMENT PARTS USED IN THE RECALL ARE GIVING WARNING INDICATORS LIKE THE ORIGINAL AIRBAG PARTS. I USE THE JEEP FOR MAIL DELIVERY ON DIRT ROADS THAT ARE EXTREMELY DUSTY MOST OF THE YEAR. THIS IS THE MAIN REASON FOR THE ORIGINAL AIRBAG RECALL. "THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING MAY INGEST DUST IF THE VEHICLE IS SUBJECTED TO DUSTY ENVIRONMENTS, COMPROMISE AIRBAG CIRCUITS, CAUSE ILLUMINATION OF THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT". I FEEL THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND THE RECALL REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE FAILED. I THINK THIS IS A RECALL CONCERN. I HAVE CONTACTED FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILE GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER , THEY DID NOT HELP. I I AM PAYING FOR THE REPAIR. BUT I FEEL LIKE THE SAFELY PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, AND WHEN DUST COVERS THIS PART IT WILL MALFUNCTION.
