THIS VEHICLE HAS EXCESSIVE WANDER WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED 35+ MPH. THE ENTIRE TIME THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION REQUIRES CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTION BY THE DRIVER, AND IT IS WORSE ON NARROW ROADS WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE COULD WANDER INTO THE ONCOMING LANE. THIS HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR AND A TSB WAS SUPPOSEDLY COMPLETED, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE VEHICLE FOR WELL OVER 15 DAYS AT THIS POINT OVER 3 DIFFERENT VISITS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THERE WAS A LOT OF PLAY OR A "DEAD SPOT" IN THE STEERING BEFORE THEY WERE ABLE TO TIGHTEN THAT UP AND IT NO LONGER HAS THIS, BUT THE CONSTANT DRIFTING FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN THE TRAFFIC LANE FEELS VERY UNSAFE AND IS QUITE FATIGUING WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 20-30 MINUTES, AS THE DRIVER HAS TO HOLD ON TIGHTLY TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND MAKE CORRECTIONS CONSTANTLY. IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVING ON ICE, AND IT'S A REAL CHALLENGE TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT TRACK. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NO MODIFICATIONS OTHER THAN WHEELS AND TIRES, AND THE PROBLEM EXISTED WITH THE OEM WHEELS AND TIRES. NO SUSPENSION OR LIFT KIT, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN DONE ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 20K MILES ON IT. PLEASE HELP US!
THE CLUTCH BROKE INTO PIECES AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE JEEP BARELY REACHED 50,000 MILES.
I SWERVED TO MISS A DEER.I RAN OFF A BIG DROP OFF&HIT ON MAINLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE.THERE WAS OVER $26K DAMAGE REPAIRS DONE.THEY HAVE DECIDED TO TOTAL MY JEEP WITH A LITTLE OVER 36K MILES.I RAN OFF THE RAID&HIT ON MAINLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE.MY AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY MY SEAT BELT DID NOT PREVENT ME FROM HITTING MY FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL.I HAVE A GASH ABOVE MY RIGHT EYE THAT THE EMTS ADVISED ME TO GO TO A HOSPITAL TO HAVE STITCHES.BUTBWITH THE COVID-19 EPIDEMIC FULLY IN FORCE I DECIDED NOT TO GO TO THE NEXT COUNTY FOR MEDICAL.ASSITANCE SINCE MY LOCAL HOSPITAL IS NOT EQUIPPED TO PREFORM THE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE THAT WAS NEEDED. I MISSED SEVERAL.DAYS OF WORK FOR THIS INCIDENT. I'M ASKING FOR ANSWERS TO WHY MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY I'M WANTING & NEEDING TO KNOW WHY MY SEAT BELT DID NOT PREVENT MY FACE FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL & ALSO WARPING MY STEERING WHEEL IN THE PROCESS. PLEASE I NEED ANSWERS FOR I'VE ALWAYS WANTED & DREAMED OF OWNING A JEEP. THEN I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE ONE BUT I NEED TO KNOW THAT IT IS ALSO SAFE FOR ME & MY FAMILY.
THERE IS SOME TYPE OF ISSUE WITH THE STEERING WHICH CAUSES THE DRIVER TO KEEP ADJUSTING THE STEERING WHEEL CONSTANTLY. THIS ISSUE OCCURS AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS BOTH ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS. IT CAN FEEL LIKE THE JEEP WRANGLER IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND REQUIRES A VERY ATTENTIVE DRIVER.
I WAS ON THE 15 FREEWAY, CHANGING TO THE LANE ON MY RIGHT, SO I CAN THEN EXIT THE FREEWAY. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING HARD. I GOT SO SCARED AND PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON WHILE MAKING THE LANE CHANGE. STILL SHAKING AS I MADE MY EXIT. IT STOPPED AS I CAME TO A STOP AT THE LIGHT SIGNAL. I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE ONTARIO CA JEEP DEALER. 6/3/2020 THEY SAID IT WAS THE STEERING DAMPER THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED, NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND THAT JEEP IS COVERING THE COST BUT THE PART IS ON BACKORDER AND THERE ISN'T AN ETA. THEY RESERVED A RENTAL CAR FOR ME THROUGH ENTERPRISE BUT I HAVE TO PUT DOWN THE $50.00 DEPOSIT AND PAY THE DAILY SALES TAX. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY JEEP ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS PART HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED.
MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER VIOLENTLY WOBBLES EVERY TIME WHEN GOING ABOVE 60 MILES/HOUR AND HITS THE SMALLEST BUMP. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT TO FIX THE ISSUE I HAVE TO CHANGE ALL FOUR TIRES AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
NOTICED A BURNT CLUTCH SMELL. COULD NOT ACCELERATE AFTER CLUTCH BURNT OUT. CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN TRYING TO TRANSITION AND ACCELERATE AND THE CLUTCH STARTED BURNING AND SMOKING AND THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED ACCELERATING. *TR
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE. STATIONARY WANT START WAIT A FEW MINUTES TO 20 MINUTES. THE CLOSE DEALERSHIP IS 2 TO 3 HOURS. ANY RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. A LOCAL MECHANIC SAID DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE. HE ALL SO SAID THE SAME THING WITH CHRYSLER. *TR
RECENTLY PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED WRANGLER 2018JLUR UNDER 25K MILES AND LESS THAN 2K MILES FROM PURCHASE. CHECKED OUT STEERING AND WAS LOOSE NOTICED WONDER AT FROM 20MPH TO OVER 65MPH. OVER 65MPH STEERING IS VERY LOOSE AND UNSAFE, WAS IN A CONSTRUCTION CORRIDOR ON HIGHWAY AND DUE TO HOW LOOSE STEERING AND WANDERING WAS IT COULD EASILY LEAD TO A CRASH AND FATALITY. THERE IS A DEAD ZONE OF A 30 DEGREE TURN OF THE WHEEL. DEALER WAS VERY HELPFUL AND CONFIRMED PITMAN ARM AND DRAG LINK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AS IT WAS STATED THE PITMAN ARM HAD SEIZED IN THE CONNECTION WITH THE DRAG LINK. *TR
ALMOST 1.5-2" OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT THE WHEELS MOVING. *TR
STEERING WHEEL LOOSE AND HAS A LOT OF PLAY. ALSO WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OVER 50 MPH AND HIT A POT HOLE OR A SMALL BUMP, VEHICLE REAR WOBBLES AND ALMOST HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.
I WAS NOTIFIED OF A SAFETY RECALL ON MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER BY THE NHTSA BACK IN MAY OF 2020. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP (CROWN CHRYSLER AND DODGE) TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR AT THE END OF MAY. I WAS TOLD THEY WERE GOING TO ORDER THE NECESSARY PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUE AND WOULD CALL ME BACK. I NEVER RECEIVED A TELEPHONE CALL BACK FROM THEM, EVEN AFTER I CALLED BACK SEVERAL MORE TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 3 1/2 MONTHS, TRYING TO GET THIS SAFETY RECALL FIXED. THEY ARE REFUSING TO RETURN CALLS ON THIS MATTER, REFUSING TO PERFORM THE RECALL FIX AND REFUSING TO TAKE A WRITTEN COMPLAINT FROM ME OVER THE MATTER. NOW WHEN I CALL THEM ASKING FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THE RECALL, THEY SIMPLY HANG UP ON ME. PER THIS SAFETY RECALL, MY VEHICLE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CATCH FIRE WHILE BEING DRIVEN, PUTTING MYSELF AND FAMILY IN DANGER.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED. 2ND TIME IN 1 YEAR. DRIVING DOWN ROAD. *TR
VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL W12/NHTSA 20V-124. FIAT/CHRYSLER (FCA) HAS BEEN STALLING US FOR QUITE A LONG TIME. THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE MAY BECOME OVERHEATED AND FRACTURE THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY, OR THE CAR GETTING FIRE.THE DEALER SAYS THAT CHRYSLER DOESN'T HAVE THE PART REQUIRED TO FIX THE CAR, AND FCA KEEPS ROUTING ME FROM ONE REPRESENTATIVE TO ANOTHER, BUT THEY WON'T EVEN SAY IF THEY HAVE THE PART. I HAVE BEEN MAKING PAYMENTS DILIGENTLY ON A CAR THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN, AS THE STATEMENT ON THEIR OWN LETTER INFORMS THAT THE RECALL PERTAINS TO A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. MY CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AND DEEMED THAT THERE IS A LEAK AND THE CLUTCH HOSE SO I SHOULDN'T DRIVE IT. THE CLUTCH ALREADY FEELS EXTREMELY SOFT AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. FCA DOES IS NOT OFFERING ANY HOPES OF FIXING NOR IS PROVIDING ANY INFORMATION REGARDING A TIMELINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS NEVER INFORMED NOR SAW IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH TWO BATTERIES. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE IF THE PRIMARY BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED THE SECOND BATTERY WOULD STILL PROVIDE ELECTRICITY TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE SECONDARY BATTERY SHORT CIRCUITED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE NAPLETON CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (1460 E OSCEOLA PKWY, KISSIMMEE, FL 34744, 407-288-8243) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECTLY DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERIES WERE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE DEALER AT A COST OF $800 FOR BOTH BATTERIES OR COULD BE PURCHASED AT THE LOCAL PARTS STORE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WHILE BRAKING THE JEEP, THE BRAKING SYSTEM DIDN'T OVERRIDE THE ENGINE. JEEP KEPT GOING IN DRIVE INSTEAD OF STOPPING. I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO GET THE JEEP STOPPED. I ALMOST WENT INTO A BUSY HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF TRUCK GOING 60MPH. COULD HAVE BEEN HURT OR KILLED. *TR
BEGAN SMELLING COOLANT (SWEET SMELL), ALTHOUGH COULD NOT FIND LEAK. AT 15,600 MILES (MAY 2020), VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO JEEP DLR FOR SERVICE. FOUND SMALL CRACKS IN THE PLASTIC PORTION OF THE RADIATOR. NOW, AT 18,600, THE SWEET SMELL IS BACK. WILL NEED TO TAKE IT BACK IN TO JEEP DLR AGAIN.
Service Axle Locker System Keeps coming on and going off. Sometimes 4 times a min. Sometimes hours. Does not store or show any codes in the system when checked.
VEHICLE HAS LOOSE STEERING WHEN DRIVING. IT IS NOTICEABLY PRONOUNCE DURING HIGHER SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. BUMPS AND IMPERFECTIONS IN THE ROAD MAKE THE STEERING FEEL WOBBLY AND LOOSE. DRIVER HAS TO CONTINUOUSLY INPUT STEERING CORRECTIONS WHILE DRIVING IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE WHICH BECOMES EXTREMELY EXHAUSTING IN LONGER DRIVING TRIPS. ISSUE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED SINCE FIRST PURCHASE IN APRIL OF 2020 BUT DRIVER ASSUMED IT WAS JUST NORMAL DRIVING OPERATIONS. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH IT IS A COMMON ISSUES WITH OTHER LIKE VEHICLES.
FCA (JEEP CHRYSLER) HAS ISSUED A NOTIFICATION TO OWNERS VIA V88: "THE REAR QUARTER WINDOWS VERTICAL RETAINER ON YOUR VEHICLE MAY NOT BE PROPERLY INSTALLED TO THE DOOR RAIL AFTER REMOVAL. THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE THE SOFT TOP REAR QUARTER WINDOW PANELS TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS." THIS VERY SITUATION ACTUALLY OCCURRED IN OUR VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED (I.E. THE SPEED LIMIT) ON I95 IN VIRGINIA ON 3/3/20. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE REAR QUARTER PANEL BLEW OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE NOISE WAS SO STARTLING, IT IS AMAZING THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, NO OTHER MOTORIST WAS IMPACTED BY THE DISLODGED WINDOW (THIS TIME). HOWEVER, AS THIS WAS IN THE EVENING ON A HIGH-SPEED INTERSTATE, IT WAS NOT SAFE TO PULL OVER AND TRY TO RETRIEVE THE WINDOW FROM THE DRIVING LANES SO, WE ARE NOT CERTAIN THAT THE DISLODGED WINDOW DID NOT THEN PRESENT A POTENTIAL ROAD HAZARD TO OTHER MOTORISTS. I SUSPECT NOT ALL CASES WILL HAVE OUTCOMES WHERE NO ONE WILL BE INJURED (OR KILLED).
I WAS USING THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY (3HR DRIVE) WAS GETTING OFF THE EXIT AND WHEN I WENT TO CANCEL IT WOULD NOT DO IT NOR TURN OFF. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT WAS ABLE TO PRESS THE BRAKE AND WAS ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND IT SHOWS NO RECALLS. THEY SUGGESTED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT THROUGH NHTSA. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER THE RECALL U62/NHTSA 18V-332. ANY ASSISTANCE WILL BE APPRECIATED.*DT CONSUMER HAS NOT USED THE CRUISE CONTROL SINCE THE INCIDENT.*JB
STEERING FEELS 'LOOSE' AND 'WANDERS' FROM SIDE TO SIDE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50MPH. I FEEL I HAVE TO FIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL JUST TO KEEP IT GOING STRAIGHT. IT OCCURS ON HIGHWAYS, SMOOTH ROADS, BUMPY ROADS, ALL ROAD CONDITIONS.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 70MPH MY STEERING WHEEL LOST THE ABILITY TO TURN LEFT. FELT LIKE I HAD NO POWER STEERING TO THE LEFT SIDE. THIS WENT ON FOR 10 MINUTES WHERE I COULD BARELY LEAN LEFT IT. ALL OF THE SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL CORRECTED ITSELF AND THE VEHICLE JUMPED TO THE LEFT CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AFTER IT CORRECTED ITSELF AND IT DIDN'T COME BACK THE REMAINING DAY.
ON MARCH 16TH DROVE TO WORK AND PARKED CAR. LEFT WORK AND GOT INTO CAR IN PARKING LOT. UPON TRYING TO START THE CAR WE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AS WELL AS LOSS OF POWER STEERING, TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITY CONTROL, ENGINE START/STOP FAILURE, PUSH START UNRESPONSIVE. CAR FINALLY STARTED ALTHOUGH MULTIPLE LIGHTS REMAINED ON. DROVE THE CAR SLOWLY TO FCA DEALER CLOSEST TO HOME AND EXPLAINED ISSUES TO SERVICE ADVISOR TYLER PENNINGTON. DEALER HAD CAR IN SERVICE FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS UNTIL TODAY 4/3/2020. PICKED UP FROM SERVICE MANAGER AL BEGIL. MR. BEGIL EXPLAINED THAT THEY NEVER COULD PHYSICALLY FIND THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUES DESPITE GOING THROUGH MANY WIRING HARNESSES, MODULES, FUSE BOXES, ETC. COMMUNICATED WITH FCA ENGINEERING MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE THREE WEEKS. SEEMS LIKE IT WAS ENGINEERING ADVISED DEALER TO TRY SOMETHING AND IF THAT DOESN'T WORK TRY LET ENGINEERING KNOW AND THEN THEY WOULD TRY SOMETHING ELSE. OUR SERVICE ADVISER SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE AROUND TOWN SLOWLY FOR SEVERAL DAYS IN CASE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AGAIN. DON'T GO ON HIGHWAY. PAPERWORK FROM DEALER DOESN'T SHOW ANY CORRECTION FOR CONCERN. CALLED FCA CUSTOMER SUPPORT UPON ARRIVING HOME. CUSTOMER SUPPORT ADVISED THAT MY ISSUES NEEDED TO BE "ESCALATED" AND THAT SOMEONE WOULD REACH OUT TO ME ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY. I NOW GO THROUGH WEEKEND WITHOUT VEHICLE HAVING TO GO TO WORK EVERY DAY. FCA CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THEY CAN'T OFFER A LOANER BECAUSE WE GOT CAR FROM DEALER. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DEALER. NOT MUCH BETTER FROM FCA SINCE I WON'T HEAR BACK FOR AT LEAST 3-4 DAYS. HAVE NOTES OF CONVERSATION WITH SERVICE MANAGER THAT SCARED MY WIFE AND I TO DEATH. JUST TOO MUCH TO WRITE HERE.
The radio touchscreen delaminated. Do to the delamination the screen would experience 'ghost touches' resulting in random controls being pressed. For example, At times, while driving highway speed the backup camera would activate and distract the driver and require screen input to deactivate while driving. SOmetimes 911 would be called through a ghost touch. Anything that could be pressed is possible. This is a major driver distraction and while it did not cause an injury while I was driving, it clearly is a safety hazard to take eyes off the road (and hands) when the screen is flickering with different actions. the only fix is to replace the screen by the dealership.
THE STEERING ISSUE BEGAN AS A SHUTTER AND VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP OR A RUT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN AND KEPT IT ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE ISSUE HAS SUBSIDED A BIT BUT NOW THE VEHICLE'S ALIGNMENT IS OFF AND THE STEERING IS VERY LOOSE. YOU HAVE TO KEEP THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED TO THE ONE O'CLOCK POSITION, TO THE RIGHT, WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR THE JEEP WILL DRIVE OFF OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY DRIFTS WHILE DRIVING SO YOU NEED TO MANEUVER THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH CONSTANTLY TO KEEP THE JEEP ON THE ROAD. THE WHEEL IS SLOPPY WITH A LOT OF PLAY FOR THE FIRST INCH OR TWO ON EITHER SIDE. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND IT IS AN ABSOLUTE SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS MY ONLY PERSONAL VEHICLE SO I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER OPTION. I PURCHASED THE JEEP BRAND NEW AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR ABUSED. THIS JEEP NEEDS TO BE RECALLED OR REPLACED. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT BEST JEEP CHRYSLER IN PLYMOUTH, MA WON'T CORRECT THE ISSUE OR REPLACE THE JEEP. THE FM RADIO, BLUETOOTH, AND CLOCK ARE ALSO BROKEN AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THAT EITHER.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE STEERING SEEMS LOSE AND THE CAR WONDERS ON THE ROAD. THE STABILIZER HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT THE STEERING ITSELF IS LOOSE. I JUST GOT AN ALIGNMENT AND THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS. I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK AND I HAVE A HARD TIME CONTROLLING THE JEEP IN A STRAIGHT LINE.TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRING AND THATS JUST HOW THEY ARE. THIS IS THE SAME THING THEY TOLD ME WHEN I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE DEATH WOBBLE AND NOW THAT IS BEING ADDRESSED.
EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT VIOLENT SHAKING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 45 &50 MPH MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE STEERING. VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT TO A STOP FOR ISSUE TO BE CORRECTED. IT IS HAPPENING ON A WEEKLY BASIS. THE ISSUE STARTED AFTER HAVING THE DAMPER REPLACED WHICH WAS DONE DUE TO A RECALL. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER AGAIN AND IT HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE CONTACTED FCA AND TRIED WORKING W/ OUR DEALERSHIP TO GET RESOLVED BUT THE BEST ANSWER WE HAVE RECEIVED IS TRY NEW TIRES AND KEEP DRIVING IT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN THEN TAKE IT BACK. AFTER RESEARCHING IT LOOKS LIKE THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER 2018 JEEP OWNERS THAT EXPERIENCING SIMILAR RESULTS AFTER CHANGING OUT THE DAMPER MULTIPLE TIMES. I FEEL THIS IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT JEEP IS NOT WILLING TO TAKE THE TIME TO CORRECTLY DIAGNOSE AND FIX THE ISSUE.

ISSUE #2 - NAVIGATION, BACK UP CAMERA, RADIO ... ALL SAME ISSUES 05-08-20; REPLACED 06-11-20. ISSUE #3 SAME ISSUES AND REBOOTS MULTI TIMES WHILE DRIVING, REPLACED 01-08-21. ISSUE #4 SAME ISSUES REBOOTS MULTI TIMES WHILE DRIVING, SAME ISSUES REBOOTS MULTI TIMES WHILE DRIVING, ORDERED NEW RADIO 01-29-21. WAITING ON NEW REPLACEMENT AGAIN. ALL THESE ISSUES WERE NOTICED WHILE DRIVING ON ALL KINDS OF ROADS. MAKE MULTI PICS AND VIDEOS
THE VEHICLE DISPLAY AND BACK UP CAMERA WILL FREEZE AND NOT BE USABLE OFTEN. IT WILL FREEZE AND NOT ALLOW ME TO SEE MY BACK UP CAMERA. IT WILL ALSO FREEZE AND NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN THE RADIO DOWN OR CHANGE A CHANNEL. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE IT IS STATIONARY.
JEEP JL 2 DOOR WRANGLER RUBICON STEERING WANDERS HORRIBLY CAUSING AN UN-SAFE DRIVING CONDITION. VEHICLE HAS HAD STEERING STABILIZER REPLACED BY RE-CALL AS WELL AS A NEW FRONT TRACK BAR BY WITHOUT NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT IN DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS. SIGNIFICANT PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL WITH CONSTANT STEERING ADJUSTMENT TO DRIVE DOWN STRAIGHT ROAD. I HAVE OWNED TWO PREVIOUS JEEPS WHICH DROVE MUCH BETTER THAN THIS JL.
BACK UP CAMERA SCREEN WILL OCCASIONALLY TURN BLUE OR BLACK WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT IN REVERSE. DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. AFTER TALKING TO OTHER JEEP OWNERS THIS SEEM TO BE A SOMEWHAT COMMON ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM JEEP.
CAR WILL NOT KEEP STRAIGHT, WOBBLES LEFT AND RIGHT DURING NORMAL DRIVING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES. ADDRESSED THE TRAC BAR RECALL BUT STILL HAVING ISSUES.
RADIATOR LEAK (FAILURE). JEEP DEALER CONFIRMED AND REPAIR IS IN PROCESS.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH . IF I HIT A BUMP OR POTHOLE IN MY LANE THE FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL JUMPS/SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND THE VEHICLE IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY AND HARD TO CONTROL . THIS HAS HAPPENED ALOT . IT IS VERY DANGEROUS .
MY JEEP HAS A CLUTCH BURNING SMELL. THEY RECALLED IT LAST YEAR AND SAID PROBLEM FIXED. STILL HAVE BURNING CLUTCH SMELL AND NOW ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM
THE VEHICLE DOES NOT CRANK AND HAVE TO WAIT 10 TO 15 MINUTES FOR IT TO START.IT HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN A WEEK. THERE ARE LOTS OF TRENDS ONLINE WITH OTHER JEEP WRANGLER OWNER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. NO DIAGNOSTIC ERROR WHEN USING OBD SCANNER.
A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FRAME WELDS ARE RUSTING LESS THAN 1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASE.
Dash cluster will go blank upon starting. This has happened every few weeks since I bought it in Nov 2019. Reported to local dealership in ealry 2020, but when you turn off Jeep, the next time it restarts, everything looks fine and they could not reproduce the problem at the dealership and had no answers as they had not seen it before, as no codes were being given. I never went back since i was told they had no answers. When it happens, you are driving blind-No digital speedometer, warning lights or gas gauge when it happens. Now the most recent issue, the security system light comes on randomly upon starting. Also have to push start button more than once to get it to actually start, so this could be different issues. A recall for the cluster finally came out last year i think, but my Jeep was not on the recall list even though it DOES have the problem and has had it for years. Would love some help or guidance!
THERE HAVE BEEN THREE SEPARATE EVENTS THAT OCCURED RELATED TO THE FRONT STEERING SHAKING ON THE VEHICLE. TWO OCCURRED BEFORE I HAD THE RECALL DONE CALLED 02V41182 STEERING DAMPER. DRIVING ~60 MPH, ~30 DEGREES F, AND AFTER HITTING A BUMP. I THEN TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE WORK COVERED UNDER THE STEERING DAMPENER TO BE FIXED. APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, I WAS DRIVING AND THE ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME. I AM SCARED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY LIFE AND INTEGRITY OF THE STEERING SYSTEM AS ALL THREE EVENTS OCCURRED ON THE THE HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2018 WRANGLER JL IN 20-30 DEGREE TEMPERATURE THE STEERING ASSIST LOCKED UP, CAUSING MY WIFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROAD WHILE IN A SLOW SWEEPING CURVE. AFTER A SECOND OR TWO THE STEERING RE-ENGAGED AS SHE WAS TRYING TO STEER BACK ONTO THE ROAD AND SHE SUDDENLY VEERED BACK ONTO THE ROAD. A FEW SECONDS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. FORTUNATELY NOTHING WAS STRUCK AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. AFTER THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO WARM UP THE LOCKUP DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN. THIS WAS 3 WEEKS AGO. TWO DAYS AGO, WHILE STARTING OUT DRIVING IN MID 30 DEGREE TEMPERATURES THE STEERING AGAIN LOCKED UP FOR ABOUT A SECOND BEFORE REENGAGING. ALL INSTANCES OCCURRED AFTER THE JEEP WAS SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE COLD AND STARTED FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT DAY. BOTH EVENTS OCCURRED WITHIN THE FIRST 4-5 MINUTES OF DRIVING AT SPEEDS IN THE 45-50MPH RANGE WHILE MAKING TURNS TO THE WHEEL. THE BIG DANGER HERE IS THAT IF THE VEHICLE IS IN A TURN AND THE STEERING GOES OUT, THE DRIVER COULD TRY AND TURN HARD ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO REGAIN CONTROL AND IF THE STEERING ASSIST KICKS BACK IN, AN OVERSTEER SITUATION COULD OCCUR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER OR CROSS OVER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. FCA HAS ALREADY ISSUED A TSB FOR THE POSSIBLE PROBLEM (08-092-18) WHICH I WILL NOW CONTACT MY LOCAL DEALER TO SEE IF THEY WILL INVESTIGATE.
TIGHT STEERING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (OVER 60MPH) MOST LIKELY TO HAPPEN IN COLDER TEMPERATURES. TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA: YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WANT TO SWITCH LANES. IT WILL FEEL AS IF YOUR STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED AND THAT YOU CANNOT STEER IT TO THE NEXT LANE. YOU WILL HAVE TROUBLE KEEPING YOUR VEHICLE STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL, CONSTANTLY VEERING TO THE RIGHT. THIS VEHICLE FEELS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES, WITH THE SAME " WE CANNOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE" RUN AROUND. I AM CERTAIN THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE AND HOPE JEEP (FCA) OWNS UP AND ISSUES A RECALL.
WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM HOFFER JEEP IN TOPEKA, KS. THE VEHICLE WAS WON BUY A PERSON AT A CASINO EVENT SO WE ARE THE 2ND OWNER. THE VEHICLE HAD, I BELIEVE UNDER 2K MILES, UPON OUR PURCHASE. SINCE, WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE IT HAS CONSISTENTLY HAD A "DEATH WOBBLE". I SIMPLY CANNOT COUNT HOW MANY TIMES AT OR UNDER MANDATED HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS VEHICLE HAS ENTERED A 'DEATH WOBBLE". THE MOST RECENT WAS FROM RETURNING FROM MANHATTAN KS TO KANSAS CITY THE VEHICLE ENTERED A "DEATH WOBBLE" NO LESS THAN 4 TIMES. THE LAST TIME I WAS DRIVING 5 MILES UNDER THE 75MPH SPEED LIMIT WHEN HITTING SOME ROAD CHATTER, NOTHING SIGNIFICANT, CAUSED UNCONTROLLABLE CHATTER IN FRONT WHEELS, AXLE, GENERATING STRONG VIBRATION THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL. I RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE CAME OUT OF THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AT 27MPH, ON AN INCREDIBLY BUSY HIGHWAY. THIS WAS/IS UNSAFE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DANGERS IT CAUSED COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC IN NATURE AND NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. THIS VEHICLE IS STOCK AND HAS NOT HAD ITS SUSPENSION, TIRES, ETC., ADJUSTED OR MANIPULATED IN ANY SHAPE, FASHION, OR FORM. PLEASE ADVISE ON HOW THIS MATTER SHOULD BE DEALT WITH GOING FORWARD? THANKS
JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND PICKED UP ON 2/14/20 AND HAVE EXPERIENCED VIOLENT "DEATH WOBBLE". CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS FROM MY LIFT THAT I JUST HAD INSTALLED. AFTER A RE-CHECK, THE PLACE THAT DID THE LIFT STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE LIFT. I CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE WOBBLE FROM THAT POINT ON AND TILL THIS DAY. WOBBLE WILL OCCUR AT ANY SPEED UNDER 50 MPH, HOWEVER, I AM ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND EVENTUALLY GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IF UNDER THAT SPEED LIMITS. CANNOT CONTROL VEHICLE WHEN ENGAGES IN WOBBLE OVER 50-55 MPH. TOOK ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY, NO CONTROL OF STEERING, BRAKING WAS INEFFECTIVE, STEERING WHEEL SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND COULD NOT GRIP AND I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP ON ITS OWN (ON THE HIGHWAY) IN ORDER FOR IT TO COME OUT OF THAT CONDITION. VERY DANGEROUS AND I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT KILLED THAT DAY. SINCE THEN, I DO NOT DRIVE OVER 50-55 MILES PER HOUR. IT FELT LIKE THE TIRES WERE GOING TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO FALL APART RIGHT THERE ON THE ROAD. FOR THE LESS AGGRESSIVE WOBBLES THAT ARE EXPERIENCED EACH TIME I DRIVE, I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE HAVING ANYBODY IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME BECAUSE I AM SCARED FOR THEIR SAFETY. I JUST BROUGHT TO AUTO REPAIR SHOP TODAY AND THEY SAID THE STEERING STABILIZER WAS WORN OUT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I LOOKED UP A RECALL FROM JUNE 2019 AND IT STATED THAT THIS WAS COMPLETED FOR MY VEHICLE. APPEARS THIS IS GOING TO BE THE 2ND REPLACEMENT SINCE JUNE FOR THE STABILIZER.
AFTER STEERING DAMPER RECALL WAS COMPLETED I'M STILL EXPERIENCING THE "DEATH WOBBLE".VEHICLE ONLY HAS 2,600 MILES AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND GET TOLD EVERY TIME THAT EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR A ROUGH SPOT ON THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL BEGIN TO SHAKE LIKE THE VEHICLE IS JUMPING ON THE ROAD. TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN TRAVELING OVER 50 MPH AND ONLY CORRECTS AFTER YOU SLOW DOWN TO 35 MPH. ISSUE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND FCA IS NOT ADDRESSING A PERMANENT RESOLUTION. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND CAN POSE A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION FOR ME AND MY PASSENGERS.

THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ONLINE THAT MENTION THE LOOSE STEERING IN THE 2018 MODELS. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS PAST 50MPH THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF ROAD WANDER, STEERING WHEEL PLAY AND LACK OF CONTROL WITH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REJECTED THIS STATING THAT THIS IS SIMPLE "A JEEP THING." I AM NOT SURE WHERE ELSE TO TURN AND AM ACTIVELY HOPING TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THIS. THANK YOU.
THE MORNING OF FEB 6, 2020, I WAS DRIVING MY 2018 JL (APPROX 16K MILEAGE) ON THE HIGHWAY AT ~65 MPH WHEN THE STEERING ALL OF A SUDDEN LOCKED UP GOING INTO A RIGHT BEND IN THE HIGHWAY. SUDDENLY I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT TO STAY IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND ENDED HALFWAY IN THE LEFT FAST LANE HEADED STRAIGHT FOR THE CONCRETE HIGHWAY MEDIAN BARRIERS. THANK GOODNESS THERE WERE NO CARS ON THE HIGHWAY NEXT TO ME IN THE LEFT LANE THAT THE UNRESPONSIVE STEERING FORCED ME INTO. AFTER I SLOWED DOWN, THE STEERING WENT BACK TO NORMAL AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE WITHOUT INCIDENT AND EXIT THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE NOT FELT COMFORTABLE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR HAVING MY KIDS IN THE JEEP SINCE. THE STEERING LOCKUP ON THE HIGHWAY WAS FRIGHTENING; I FEEL VERY LUCKY TO HAVE ESCAPED WHAT LOOKED LIKE AN IMMINENT HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY ACCIDENT WITH MY OWN VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY OTHER CARS NEARBY. SEPARATELY, MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BOTH EXPERIENCED RAPID STEERING OSCILLATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, A JARRING FULL VEHICLE WOBBLE WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP OR CRACK IN THE HIGHWAY. THE LOCAL DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE JEEP HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER DUE TO AN EARLIER RECALL; THE HIGHSPEED STEERING LOCKUP AND OSCILLATION ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE. I'M NOW WORKING WITH A SECOND LOCAL DEALER WHO HASN'T YET BEEN ABLE TO ISOLATE OR DIAGNOSE THE STEERING PROBLEMS. AS NEXT STEP, THE TECHNICIAN IS SUGGESTING I TAKE THE JEEP BACK OUT ON THE HIGHWAY WITH HIM TO TRY TO RECREATE THE STEERING BINDING/LOCKUP ISSUES ' YIKES!
