WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HIT A CAR ON A CITY STREET TRAVELING A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED
WELD QUALITY ON FRAME ARE VERY QUESTIONABLE. WHEN MY JEEP TWISTS WHILE OFF-ROADING, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO TEAR ITSELF APART AND THE DOORS DONT WANT TO SHUT CLOSE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FULLY FLEXED. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO THE NEWER 2019+ MODELS WITH OBVIOUS BETTER WELDS ON FRAME. IT GETS ANNOYING WITH ALL THE CRUNCHING NOISE THE BODY MAKES WHEN I DRIVE ON UNEVEN ROADS. AGAIN, NOT SEEN ON NEWER MODELS. ALSO, THE STEERING STABILIZER WAS REPLACED AND STILL MY STEERING WHEEL START SHAKING WHEN I DRIVE ON UNEVEN ROADS. I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES COMPLAINING ABOUT THE RADIO AND IT KEEPS SHUTTING OFF AND VOLUME FREEZING.
WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP DOWN COUNTRY ROADS OR CITY HIGHWAYS THE STEERING IS ALL OVER THE PLACE. I'M CONSTANTLY CORRECTING THE STEERING TO TRY TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD, IT IS A WORKOUT JUST DRIVING ANYWHERE. IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY ON NARROW COUNTRY ROADS WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH THE FEAR OF CRASHING INTO THEM! IF JEEP CANNOT FIX THIS ONGOING KNOWN PROBLEM VERY SOON THEN I WILL FOR SURE BE TRADING THIS DEATH TRAP OF A VEHICLE IN FOR SOMETHING MORE SAFE, RELIABLE, AND BUILT BETTER!
DEATH WOBBLE. 2X HIT A LIP IN THE FREEWAY AND FRONT TIRES/SUSPENSION STARTS SHAKING. DRIVING STRAIGHT SPEED > 40 MPH. I HAVE LOGGED COMPLAINT WITH MY DEALER JEEP VANN VINELAND NJ DELSEA DRIVE IN NJ.
IN ONE INSTANCE, WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY, THE POWER STEERING EITHER FAILED OR SOMETHING WITHIN THE STEERING SYSTEM LOCKED UP. DECELERATING BELOW 40 MILES PER HOUR RELEASES THE STEERING AND YOU CAN STEER THE VEHICLE PROPERLY AGAIN. IN ANOTHER INSTANCE, DRIVING 45 MILES PER HOUR ON CITY STREETS, THE SAME LOCK UP OCCURRED. SLOWING DOWN TO BELOW 40 MILES PER HOUR ALLOWED THE JEEP TO BE CONTROLLED ONCE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED ONCE ON 12/14/2018 (HIGHWAY) AND THEN AGAIN ON THE CITY STREET ON 12/15/2018. THANKFULLY IN BOTH INSTANCES I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID COLLISION.
STEERING HAS PLAY/DEAD AREA WHEN DRIVING. ROAD IRREGULARITIES CAUSE IT TO STEER DRAMATICALLY AND SUDDENLY (BUMP STEER). CORRECTING THE BUMP STEER REQUIRES LARGE STEERING WHEEL INPUTS (SAWING OF STEERING WHEEL). ROAD "S" TURNS MAGNIFIES DEAD AREA OF STEERING WHEN REVERSAL OF DIRECTION IS STEERED. HIGHER SPEEDS MAGNIFY THE FEELING THAT THE STEERING IS LOOSE OR NOT TIGHTLY CONNECTED. THERE IS A NOTABLE TIME LAG IN A STEERING INPUT. A FAMILY MEMBER THAT HAVE DROVE IT CALLED IT "SQUIRRELY" . MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE IT. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (50-70 MPH), THE FRONT TIRES WILL SHIMMY IF A BUMP IS ENCOUNTERED ON THE INTERSTATE.
THERE IS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING YOU TO CONSTANTLY MAKE CORRECTIONS JUST TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN THE LANE. ITS VERY DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN LANE POSITION IF YOU HIT A BUMP OR GROOVE IN PAVEMENT WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OVER 40MPH. THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT'S A "LIFTED JEEP THING" HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT NEW AS EQUIPPED AND OWNERS WITHOUT LIFTS REPORT THE SAME ISSUES. THE DIS-REGARD FOR SAFETY BY JEEP FCA IS DEEPLY CONCERNING AS THEY ARE NOT ASSISTING CURRENT OWNERS WITH A RESOLUTION (MY DEALERSHIP DENIES THE ISSUE COMPLETELY) AND THEY CONTINUE TO PUT MORE OF THESE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. PLEASE HELP DRIVE AN INVESTIGATION BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED!
AIR FLOW FOR THE DEFROST DOES NOT GO INFRONT OF THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE WINDOW. WINDOW DOES NOT DEFROST OR DEFOG.
MY PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE MID-NOVEMBER. THE PROBLEMS IS THAT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF I HIT A BRIDGE JOIST OR A SEAM IN THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH AND I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN. THE DEALER AND JEEP HAVE SAID IT WAS THE STEERING STABILIZER, BUT I'VE HAD TWO REPLACEMENTS AND THE SAME THING CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. IT IS ESPECIALLY BAD IF THE BUMP IS ON A CORNER AND ONE TIRE HITS IT BEFORE THE OTHER. I'VE ALMOST LOST CONTROL SEVERAL TIMES. THIS HAPPENS AT SPEEDS OF AROUND 45+ MPH. IT IS DEFINITELY A SCARY SITUATION.
HIT A BUMP ON THE INTERSTATE CAUSING THE STEERING AND VEHICLE TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. THIS ONLY STOPPED WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO APPROX 45 MPH. THIS STARTED AT APPROX 60-65 MPH.
JEEP WRANGLER 2018 JL WITH 1010 MILES AND 5 WEEKS OLD. STEERING IS VERY LOOSE WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, BUT SAY AT 60, I CAN MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AT LEAST 2 INCHES FROM RIGHT TO LEFT BEFORE THE STEERING RESPONDS. IT TAKES CONSTANT CORRECTIONS TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN YOUR LANE. WE LIVE IN A MOUNTAINOUS AREA WITH NARROW WINDY ROADS AND MANY LARGE TRUCKS (LOGGING TRUCKS ETC). ITS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THESE ROADS WITH THE VEHICLE BECAUSE YOUR CONSTANTLY CORRECTING TO STAY IN YOUR LANE. I'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALER, THEY'VE ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE, BUT THEIR TELLING ME THEY DROVE ANOTHER JEEP JUST LIKE MINE AND IT DOES THE SAME THING SO THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THEY AND I ARE CONTACTING JEEP. AT THIS TIME I WON'T LET ME WIFE OR KIDS DRIVE THE VEHICLE, AND IT'S PRETTY MUCH PARKED IN THE GARAGE UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED.
EXPERIENCING THE DEATH WOBBLE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND EVERY BUMP OR TRANSITION FROM HIGHWAY TO THE OVERPASS I GET THE WOBBLE IF I LET OFF THE GAS IT EVENS BACK OUT. I'VE ALSO BEEN EXPERIENCING SOME PLAY IN MY STEERING WHEEL SINCE I PICKED IT UP FROM THE REPAIR. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR 12/12/18 (INVOICE 557959) AND THEY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER. HAD IT BACK LESS THAN A MONTH AND THE DEATH WOBBLE WAS BACK. DROPPED IT OFF 2 DAYS AGO JUST GOT A CALL AND THE STEERING DAMPER IS BAD AGAIN AND BOTH TIE RODS ARE BAD. IT'S LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. I CALLED BACK TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE TRACK BAR WELD JUST IN CASE SINCE SOME HAVE A RECALL ON THEM.
DEATH WOBBLE. EVERY TIME I'M ON THE HIGHWAY, 65-75MPH, AND GO OVER A BRIDGE OR OTHER SLIGHT BUMP. THE STEERING WHEEL AND ENTIRE CAR START SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL. I WON'T LET MY 18 YEAR OLD CHILD DRIVE THE JEEP BECAUSE OF THIS. IT'S QUITEVIOLENT. I WILL PUT THE MOST RECENT DATE, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I'M NOT WHAT ONE WOULD DESCRIBE AS AN UPTIGHT DRIVER BUT THIS SCARED ME. THE JEEP HAS HAD NO MODIFICATIONS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. TIRE PRESSURE IS EQUAL AND NORMAL. THE MILEAGE IS LESS THAN 8,000. I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR 6MINTHS
I BOUGHT THIS WRANGLER JL MODEL NEW THIS PAST SUMMER. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE THE FRONT END SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY WITH THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING BACK AND FORTH. THIS OCCURRED ONCE ON A MULTIPLE LANE ROAD TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45MPH AND ONCE ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70MPH. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE JEEP DEALER THIS IS TERMED A "DEATH WOBBLE."
MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKES/VIBRATES RAPIDLY MULTIPLE TIMES DAILY AT SPEEDS VERYING FROM 20MPH THROUGH 80MPH. IT HAPPENS WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR SOME KIND OF IREGULAR FORM IN THE ROAD AND IT LAST FROM 5 SECONDS ALL THE WAY TO 35 SECONDS.
VIOLENT SHAKING-SEEMS LIKE THE FRONT TIRES ARE ALTERNATING ON AND OFF THE ROADWAY AT HIGH SPEED. IT HAPPENS AFTER HITTING A SMALL UNEVEN AREA ON A HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70). HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKE TO BREAK IT OUT OF THE SHAKING.(DOWN TO ABOUT 45MPH). THIS IS SCARY, I AM A WOMAN WITH CHILDREN. THE DATE BELOW IS JUST THE LAST AND THE WORST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. IT'S BEEN BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS A FEW WEEKS AGO AND TAKEN BACK TODAY FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I DONT BELIEVE JEEP KNOWS WHAT'S WRONG. THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO C HARPER (2401 MEMORIAL BLVD, CONNELLSVILLE, PA 15425, 724-603-2800) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AN EXTREME FRONT END - STEERING VIBRATION (WOBBLE) HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION OF HAVING TO IMMEDIATELY SLOW DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. I THEN MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY WHERE IT WILL RE-SET AND I CONTINUE ON. THIS CONDITION HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH AND TWICE YESTERDAY. MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER HAS 4500 MILES AND I HAVE NOT MADE ANY MODIFICATIONS ON IT SINCE THE JUNE 2018 PURCHASE. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE ENTIRE JEEP SHAKES RATHER VIOLENTLY AND IS AN IMMEDIATE CONCERN AND DRIVING DISTRACTION.
MY BRAND NEW 2018 WRANGLER JL HAS THE "DEATH WOBBLE": WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND I HIT A SHARP BUMP, THE FRONT END SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY. I NEED TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, GET INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE AND GO DOWN TO CLOSE TO ZERO MPH BEFORE THE SHAKING STOPS, THEN I NEED TO RE-MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. VERY SCARY (I USUALLY HAVE FAMILY IN CAR WITH ME) AND VERY DANGEROUS. IT'S IN THE SHOP NOW. PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER AND THEY WON'T RELEASE IT TO ME UNTIL ITS FIXED--I PRESUME B/C ITS TOO DANGEROUS. I EXPERIENCED THE DEATH WOBBLE 7 TIMES BETWEEN WHEN I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT AND WAS ABLE TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. *DT*JB
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60-80MPH) THE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AFTER GOING OVER A BUMP OR DEFORMITY IN THE ROAD. HAS OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. EVERYTHING SHAKES NOT JUST THE STEERING WHEEL. LASTS UNTIL VEHICLE SPEED REDUCES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING HIGH SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PREFERRED CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF MUSKEGON (3146 HENRY ST, MUSKEGON, MI 49441, (877) 565-0628), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DAMPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
LOOSING COMMUNICATION WITH BODY CONTROL MODULE CODE U0141 . STARTED HAPPENING AT 4300 MILES. DRIVE AROUND 25 MILES AT 70 TO 75 AND ALL GAUGES FLASH AND CYCLE. TRANSMISSION GOES INTO LIMP MODE. AND IF YOU SHUT IT OFF IT WON'T START OR CRANK OVER UNTIL IT COOLS OFF. TOOK IN TO DEALER FOR WTY REPAIR, THEY REPLACED THE FUSE BOX , BUT THAT DIDN'T FIX IT. THEY TRIED AGAIN AND GIVE UP ON IT. SAID LIGHT BAR AND WINCH VOIDED THE WTY. WHICH BOTH CONNECT AT BATTERY AND WINCH HAS NEVER BEEN USED AND LIGHT BAR VERY SELDOM. IT HAS 8300 MILES ON IT NOW IT MAY GO 2 MONTHS AND BE FINE OR IT MAY DO IT 3 TIMES IN ONE DAY. LAST TIME IN SHOP WAS 2/27/19 THEY HAD IT FOR 10 DAYS THAT'S WHEN THEY DECIDED IT WAS ACCESSORIES AND NO WTY. IT WENT ALMOST 2000 MILES NOT ACTING UP UNTIL TODAY 5/25/19.
AROUND 10,000 MILES THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' STARTED. IT HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY BETWEEN SPEEDS OF 55-75 THE FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE. IT WILL STOP IF I SLOW DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY, WHICH ISN'T ALWAYS SAFE ON THE HIGHWAY. WHILE IT HAPPENS ONLY DAILY, IT DOES NOT LAST LONG WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN. THIS NEVER HAPPENED THE FIRST 10K MILES, AND NOW ALMOST EVERY DAY.
I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP ON THE HIGHWAY GOING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 65 MPH AND WHEN CHANGING LANES AND HITTING A BUMPY PART OF THE HIGHWAY, THE JEEP BEGAN TO SHAKE VIGOROUSLY. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 40 MPH AND PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE HWY. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, ANYTIME DRIVING THE JEEP OVER 55 MPH AND HITTING A BUMP, THE JEEP WOULD SHAKE. I WOULD HAVE TO SLOW DOWN BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT FOR IT TO REGAIN CONTROL. THE JEEP WAS TAKEN INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY INSTALLED A NEW "STEERING STABILIZER". WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN GOING 65 MPH, HITTING A POTHOLE, THE JEEP BEGAN TO SHAKE AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL WHEN SLOWING DOWN UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT TO 50/55 MPH. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW CAR. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE HIGHWAY, HIT A BUMP, AND NOT FEEL AS IF MY LIFE IS IN DANGER. THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED INCLUDING MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER JL TO AL A MONTH AGO AND EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". SHE DID NOT LOSE CONTROL OF THE JEEP AND MADE IT THERE FINE. TODAY, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE JEEP UP I-85 FROM DOWNTOWN ATLANTA, WENT OVER A SEAM IN THE ROAD AT 70 MPH (SPEED LIMIT) AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF JEEP AND SWERVED INTO ADJACENT LANE ALMOST SIDESWIPING ANOTHER CAR WHEN SHE EXPERIENCED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE'. SHE WAS SO UPSET, SHE PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE IN TEARS. I HAVE SENT E-MAILS TO JEEP HQ AND DEALER I PURCHASED JEEP FROM.
WHEN TRAVELING HIGHWAY SPEEDS TYPICALLY BETWEEN 70-75 AND THE JEEP HITS A BUMP. THE ENTIRE CAR WOBBLES FAIRLY SIGNIFICANTLY FOR A SECOND OR TWO. IT STOPS WOBBLING WHEN YOU TAKE FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR. THE DEALER EXAMINED THE CAR AND BELIEVES IT TO BE SAFE. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY JEEPS OVER THE YEARS AND NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS. IT DOES NOT SEEM SAFE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY BEGINNING TO GO AROUND LEFT-HAND CURVE, WHEN YOU START TO TURN STEERING WHEEL TOWARD THE LEFT, IT WILL NOT TURN. TO GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN TO THE LEFT, YOU HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKE, BUT WHEN YOU DO APPLY THE BRAKE, THE STEERING WHEEL RELEASES THE PRESSURE THAT IS HOLDING IT FROM NOT TURNING TO THE LEFT. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE WILL DART INTO THE ON COMING LANE, HEAD ON TO ON COMING TRAFFIC.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, OR AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH, IF THERE IS A CHANGE IN THE ROAD, SUCH AS A POT HOLE, A DIP IN THE ROAD OR AN OVERPASS TRANSITION, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP OR UNDER 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND PICKED BACK UP THE 27TH OR DECEMBER. THE SHAKING STEERING WHEEL STARTED BACK UP AGAIN 1/10/19. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WAITING TO BE DROPPED OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP IN TWO WEEKS WHEN A LOANER WILL BE AVAILABLE.
WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF RECEIVING VEHICLE, I EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THAT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO RUN INTO THE VEHICLE NEXT TO ME. THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES THAT DAY. AFTER SEVERAL OCCURRENCES, I REALIZED IT SEEMED TO OCCUR WHEN HITTING A BUMP. CALLED SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO REASSURED ME THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE (???) AND THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE RECALLED TRACK BAR. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, SAID TRACK BAR WAS REPLACED (THEY ARE ON BACKORDER). THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO DEMONSTRATE THIS VIOLENT LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND AT MOST RECENT INSPECTION (AFTER BEING TOLD IT CAN'T STILL BE HAPPENING), I WAS TOLD THEY FOUND "SOME PLAY" IN THE DRAG LINK JOINT AT PITMAN ARM AND PART HAS BEEN ORDERED. THIS WEEKEND, THE VIOLENT SHAKING OCCURRED AND WOULD NOT STOP FOR WELL OVER 30 SECONDS, EVEN WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR AND THEN HIT THE BRAKE (ON THE HIGHEAY, NEXT TO A SEMI). I JUST TOOK POSSESSION OF THIS VEHICLE ON NOVEMBER 29 AND IT ONLY HAD 5000 MILES (DEMO SOLD AS NEW). SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. IT'S HAPPENING IN BRAND NEW, UNMODIFIED VEHICLES.
VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL. WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD AND HAS TO CONSTANTLY BE OVER CORRECTED. SHAKES VIOLENTLY AFTER GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WONT STOP SHAKING UNTIL YOU SLOW DOWN TO LESS THAN 50 MPH. I HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES AND THEY JUST KEEP STICKING A NEW STEERING STABILIZER ON IT WHICH OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE
THERE WAS ALREADY A RECALL ON THE STEERING BOX. I HAD IT REPLACED WITH THE PART NUMBERS ENDING IN ( AD ). THAT WAS THE PRESCRIBED PICS FROM THE DEALER. HOWEVER THE DEATH WORBBLE, IS BACK. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED AND SAID THEY WOULD ORDER ANOTHER STEER BOX AND REPLACE THAT ONE. THE FIX FOR THIS. MAY NOT BE WORKING
IF THE CAR WAS GOING OVER 60 AND HIT A BUMP, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY ALSO CAUSING THE TIRES AND THE WHOLE CAR TO BE UNCONTROLLABLE. WOULD HAVE TO BRAKE AND TRY TO GET IT BACK IN CONTROL. HAPPENED 6 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN SEPTEMBER THE LASDT TIME IT HAPPENED IT SCARED ME BECAUSE IT TOOK A LITTLE WHILE TO GET CONTROL OF THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO NAPLETON JEEP AND AS I WAS EXPLAINING THE SITUATION SHE STOPPED AND SAID IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE MEANING I NEEDED TO CLEAN OUT THE CAR AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT. SHE SAID THEY HAD A JEEP THERE FOR OVER 25 DAYS AND SHE DID NOT KNOW WHEN I WOULD BE GETTING IT BACK. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME IT IS A STEERING WHEEL DAMPER. OVER RATED SHOCK. I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES BOTH THE DEALER AND JEEP. THEY HAVE GIVEN ME 3 DIFFERENT DATES AS TO WHEN THE PART WILL BE IN. NONE OF THOSE HAVE COME TO FORWISHEN. SOMEONE WAS GOING TO CALL ME AND NO ONE EVER DOES.

STEERING IS LOOSE AND UNRESPONSIVE ,JEEP WONDERS INTO LANES ON HIGHWAYS, HARD TO KEEP STRAIGHT, CONSTANT STEERING WHEEL INPUT NEEDED TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AFTER HITTING SOME PUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT WHEELS SHAKE AND THE STEERING WHEEL OCCILATES , IN SOME CASE VILANTLY CAUSEING TEMPORARILY LOSE IN CONTROL OF JEEP. CAN TURN STEERING WHEEL SEVERAL INCHES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS WITHOUT THE WHEELS TURNING.UNKNOWN AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER BY POLICE WHO THOUGHT I WAS A DRUNK DRIVER DUE TO NOT MAINTAINING A STRAIGHT LINE. ALMOST INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN CAR, HIT A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THE WHEELS SHOOK AND STEERING WHEEL OCCILATED AND COULD NOT MAINTAIN MY LANE, WAS PULLED OVER BY DRIVER IN OTHER CAR AS WE THOUGHT WE HAD STRUCK BUT LUCKILY NOT, MY DEALER HAS ALREADY REPLACED SEVARAL PARTS BUT THEY CANNOT FIX PROBLEM...STILL AT DEALER WITH NO HOPE OF BEING FIXED
JEEP VIOLENTLY SHAKES WHEN HITTING A ROAD IRREGULARITY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE WHEEL WOBBLING STOPS ONLY WHEN SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCING SPEEDS. REDUCING AT THAT RATE OF SPEED CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD 4 STEERING DAMPENERS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. HAVING OWNED MULTIPLE JEEPS, I NEVER EXPECTED TO EXPERIENCE DEATH WOBBLE ON A BRAND NEW STOCK VEHICLE. THE DEALER IS WAITING FOR A TRACK BAR AND NEW STABILIZER TO INSTALL. I AM NOT CONFIDENT IN THEIR ABILITY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITHOUT AFTERMARKET PARTS. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. JEEP LOOKS AT THIS AS AN EXAGGERATED ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN QUOTED SAYING NO ONE HAS DIED FROM DEATH WOBBLE. DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE DIES FOR IT TO BE A REAL SAFETY ISSUE?
VIOLENT SHAKING WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS OCCURS WHEN I HIT AN UNEVEN BUMP GOING AROUND 70 MPH. FEELS VERY DANGEROUS AND LASTS FOR MINUTES. THIS FORCED ME TO SLOW DOWN CONSIDERABLY ON THE HIGHWAY.
DEATH WOBBLE. BOUGHT BRAND NEW 2018 JEEP SAHARA IN JUNE. 12/1/2018 HIT A BUMPY ROAD AND WENT INTO A VIOLENT SHAKE. IT DID IT TWICE MORE LATER THAT DAY ON 12/2 IT DID THIS AGAIN. ALL AT SPEED 55-80 THE SHAKING IS SO BAD IT IS HARD TO CONTROL VEHICLE. YOUR HANDS WILL BE NUMB AFTER TRYING TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL.
WHEN HITTING A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY (FOR EXAMPLE- BRIDGE SEAMS) AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (45 MPH+) THE JEEP WILL SHUDDER AND SHAKE, PARTICULARLY THE STEERING WHEEL & FRONT END AT TIMES; SOMETIMES WHEN HITTING A SERIES OF BUMPS THE SHUDDERING WILL INTENSIFY AND IS MORE DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE SHUDDERING IS TO SLOW DOWN TO SPEEDS THAT ARE POTENTIALLY UNSAFE ON THE HIGHWAY - <30 MPH.
CLICKING NOISE FROM FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. BALL JOINT RETAINER BOLTS OUT OF TORQUE SPEC FROM FACTORY.
VIOLENT SHAKE IN STEERING WHEEL AND THE BEGINNING OF LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. SPECIFICALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN YOU DRIVE OVER A BUMP SUCH AS A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL BEGIN SHAKING BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY. THIS RESONATES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. IT CAN CONTINUE FOR IN EXCESS OF 15 SECONDS AND I NEED TO REDUCE THE JEEP'S SPEED TO LESS THAN 40MPH, AT WHICH TIME THE SHAKING GENERALLY STOPS. SLOWING TO 40MPH IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS TO ME AND OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY. IF IN A LOW TRACTION SITUATION (SUCH AS SNOW) THIS WOULD LIKELY RESULT IN TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE JEEP. THIS HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. BECAUSE THE DEALER IS LOCATED IN A RURAL AREA THEY HAVE BEEN UNWILLING TO DRIVE TO A HIGHWAY AND THEREFORE HAVE NOT REPLICATED THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME I WENT TO THE DEALER I SHOWED THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER A VIDEO OF THIS OCCURRING, AND HE WAS APPALLED AND SAID IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND THAT I SHOULD CALL JEEP CUSTOMER CARE WHICH I DID. I HAVE CALLED ON DECEMBER 1,12,19,26 AND 27. THE CASE HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO A CASE MANAGER, BUT THEY HAVE NOT CALLED ME. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ESCALATE TO A MANAGER, BUT I HAVE TOLD THEY ARE BUSY AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO, JEEP HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY CAR AND THEY HAVE TO DATE REFUSED TO EVEN CALL ME BACK ( I HAVE ALSO CONFIRMED MY PHONE NUMBERS EACH TIME I HAVE CALLED AND HAD THEM RECORDED IN THE CASE RECORD).
EXCESSIVE / SEVERE FRONT WHEEL SHAKE WHEN HITTING BUMPS, POT HOLES, ETC. FRONT WHEELS, ALONG WITH THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE SEVERELY WHEN HITTING BUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VEHICLE CONTROL IS GREATLY IMPACTED. FRONT WHEELS AND STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT STOP SHAKING UNTIL VEHICLE IS NEARLY BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP. ABILITY TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STAY WITHIN YOUR LANE REQUIRES EXTREME/EXTENDED BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICE BY AN AUTHORIZED JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. JEEP RECOMMENDED PART(S) WERE REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.

THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A NEW STABILIZER SHOCK TO TAKE CARE OF THE THE FRONT END WOBBLE WHICH SEEMS TO OF HELPED. WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD AT SPEEDS ABOVE 55 MILES AN HOUR I CAN STILL FEEL THE WOBBLE BUT ITS DAMPENED BY THE SHOCK. THE DEALERSHIP FLASHED THE ECM WITH AN UPDATE FOR THE STEERING, BUT IN MY OPINION IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I SEE THIS SAME PROBLEM ON OTHER JEEPS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, AND HAVE ALSO DRIVEN OTHER 2018 JEEP WRANGLERS AT OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND THEY ALSO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. STEERING LOCKS UP, WILL NOT TURN. HAPPENS EVERYDAY DURING COLD TEMPERATURES. HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. VERY TERRIFYING, SERIOUS ISSUE! HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
MY NEW JL HAS 2600 MILES ON IT AND I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE AMOUNT OF PLAY (COUPLE INCHES OF FREE PLAY) MOST NOTICEABLE ON THE HIGHWAY. IT FLOATS BACK AND FORTH, REQUIRING CONSTANT CORRECTION. I HAD A 2.5' LIFT INSTALLED, AND FIRST THOUGHT THIS WAS THE ISSUE. AFTER READING ALL THE ACCOUNTS OF STEERING, MINE IS EXACTLY AS PEOPLE ARE DESCRIBING. I'VE HAD THE LIFT LOOK AT, ALIGNMENT REDONE, WHEELS BALANCED, AND STILL SEEMS SLOPPY AND UNSAFE. MY PARTICULAR VIN DOES NOT SHOW IT ON THE RECALL, BUT THIS IS HORRIBLY DANGEROUS. I'M DRIVING HOME TO SEE MY FOLK IN A COUPLE DAYS AND AM SCARED OF MY 40K NEW JEEP. PLEASE MAKE THEM DO A FULL RECALL TO INVESTIGATE ALL STEERING ISSUES. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED A 'SHIMMY SHAKING ' WHILE ON HIGHWAY SPEEDS TURNING AND WEIGHT SHIFTS. NOT LIKE A VIOLENT DEARH WOBBLE, BUT STILL COMPLETELY SHAKING THE JEEP. MISSING WELDS AND VERY POOR AND INCOMPLETE WELDS ON THE FRAME HORNS. WAS REPLACING FRONT BUMPER AND NOTICED A WELD THAT BURNED RIGHT THROUGH THE METAL IN THE FRAME AND LEFT A HOLE THROUGH THE METAL ALLOWING THE WEATHER AND ELEMENTS TO PENETRATE THE INSIDE OF THE FRAME. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I ALSO FOUND INCOMPLETE WELDS AND WELDS THAT WERE MISSING COMPLETELY ON ONE FRAME HORN THAT WERE ALL PRESENT ON THE EXACT SAME FRAME HORN LOCATED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FRAME. ON THE FRAME HORN MISSING THE WELDS, THE METAL PLATES SUPPORTING THE FRAME HORN WERE NOT FLUSH OR EVEN, THE PLATE WAS CROOKED. ON THE FRAME HORN WHERE THE WELDS WERE PRESENT, THE PLATE WAS FLUSH AND EVEN. THIS IS THE LOCATION WHERE THE BUMPER IS BOLTED TO THE FRAME TO PROTECT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE WELDS COULD NOT BE SEEN UNLESS THE BUMPER WAS REMOVED
