AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, GOING OVER ANY BRIDGE TRANSITION OR SEAM RESULTS IN AN ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKING IN THE FRONT END THAT CAN ONLY BE STOPPED BY SLOWING DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE WHEN I DRIVE MY JEEP ON THE FREEWAY. IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING, I HAVE TO WHIP KNUCKLE THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE AND NOT SWERVE OUT OF THE LANE. THE SHAKE IS SO VIOLENT IT FEELS LIKE THE TIRES ARE GOING TO FALL OFF. I HAVE BROUGHT MY JEEP IN TWICE ALREADY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN IT AND AM VERY CONCERNED THAT JEEP IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE.
DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING, BETWEEN 70-75 MPH, WHEN I HIT A DEFECT IN THE ROAD, THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. SOMETIMES IT STOPS WHEN I DECELERATE, BUT OTHER TIMES, I HAVE TO PULL OFF ON TO THE SHOULDER. MY JEEP WAS LEASED IN AUGUST 2018. I FIRST NOTICED THE SHAKING IN NOVEMBER. I HAVE ALERTED MY DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
GOING 65-70MPH ON HIGHWAY, JEEP WILL START TO WOBBLE AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP. HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES. YOU MUST REDUCE SPEED TO ALMOST 45MPH FOR THE SHAKING TO STOP.
FEELS LIKE A DEATH WOBBLE. HITTING A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSED MAJOR SHAKING IN THE STEERING. HAD IT AT THE DEALER ONCE AND THEY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER. HAPPENING NOW AGAIN
DEATH WOBBLE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN TWICE TO GET FIXED. ONCE FOR A MONTH. NOW WE HAVE LESS THAN 4000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS STILL THERE. WE HAVE A HORRIFYING VIDEO ALSO.
MANUAL TRANSMISSION STARTED POPPING OUT OF 2ND GEAR AROUND 9500 MILES. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT 11,500 CREEKING NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT/RIGHT. HAD TO HAVE REAR AXLES & REAR DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED.
VEHICLE HITS SMALL BUMP IN ROAD (HAPPENS WHILE ON SIDE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS) AND STEERING WHEEL/TIRES BEGIN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. MUST SLOW VEHICLE SIGNIFICANTLY TO STOP SHAKING. FEELS AS THOUGH I HAVE A FLAT TIRE OR A TIRE IS ABOUT TO COME LOOSE.
THE COMBINATION OF THE SHAPE OF THE HEADLIGHT CUP, COMBINED WITH THE LED HEADLIGHT OPTION, CAUSES SNOW TO ACCUMULATE AND COMPLETELY BLOCK OUT ANY LIGHT PRODUCED FROM THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE ROAD. THIS WILL OCCUR, WHENEVER THERE IS SIGNIFICANT SNOW, AND THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR RESTING.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING DEVELOPS A SEVERE WOBBLE IN STEERING AND FRONT END......THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE WOBBLE IS TO APPLY BRAKES AND SLOW DOWN CONSIDERABLY. THE SHAKING AND WOBBLE HAS BEEN SEVERE ENOUGH AS TO CAUSE A LOSS OF GRIP ON THE STEERING.
WHEN I HIT A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING SHAKES VIOLENTLY. DEATH WOBBLE. DEALERSHIP SAYS PARTS TO FIX ARE ORDERED BUT WILL NOT BE IN FOR ANOTHER MONTH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 64 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND EXHIBITED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". THE CONTACT REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK UNTIL IT SLOWED DOWN TO 40 MPH AND THE SHAKING STOPPED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WHITTEN BROTHERS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (10701 MIDLOTHIAN TURNPIKE, RICHMOND, VA 23235, (804) 378-0707) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING DAMPER WAS DEFECTIVE. THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED, BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT YET RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
WHEN DRIVING IN COLD WEATHER OR JUST AFTER THE JEEP HAS BEEN SITTING IN LARK FOR A FEW HOURS IT WILL ALLOW ME TO STEER AT LOW SPEEDS BUT AFTER 45-60 MPH IT WILL LOCK ON ME A FEW TIMES UNTIL THE ENGINE IS FULLY WARM
DEATH WOBBLE. WHEN HITTING A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE SIDE TO SIDE VIOLENTLY UNTIL THE JEEP HAS SLOWED TO AROUND 40-45 MPH. STEERING IS STILL POSSIBLE BUT VERY LIMITED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN GOING STRAIGHT OR DURING TURNS AT 55+ MPH. THIS STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 3,800 MILES. I HAVE HAD THE JEEP INTO THE DEALER 3 TIMES. THE STEERING STABILIZER WAS REPLACED, THEN THE TIRES WERE BALANCED. NOW THEY ARE INVESTIGATING TIE ROD ENDS AND OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES.
VEHICLE SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN HITTING A BUMP AT SPEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY 50MPH OR HIGHER. IT FEELS AS IF YOU'VE POPPED A TIRE. SHAKING WILL NOT STOP UNTIL YOU SLOW DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY. THIS ISSUE IS OFTEN CALLED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE.' NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE VEHICLE, LESS THAN 7 MONTHS OLD AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST INCIDENT. CONSISTENTLY HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY OTHER WEEK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEA VIEW AUTO CORPORATION (810 NJ-35, OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ 07712, (732) 774-6500) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT AN INVESTIGATION WOULD BE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,100...*BF CONSUMER STATED JEEP HAS BEEN REPAIRED 3 TIMES AND HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH OVER UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE, THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PHENOMENON WAS KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. DICK HUVAERE'S RICHMOND CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM SRT MOPAR (LOCATED AT 67567 MAIN ST, RICHMOND, MI 48062, (586) 727-7577) WAS CONTACTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALER WAS AWAITING WORD FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON HOW TO PROCEED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY TONIGHT, ABOUT 70 MPH. WENT TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE, BUT THE STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF'COULD BARELY MAKE THE LANE CHANGE. AS QUICK AS IT CAME, IT DISAPPEARED. THEN GOT STIFF AGAIN, THEN DISAPPEARED AND DID NOT RETURN FOR THE REST OF MY DRIVE. VERY VERY SCARY.
DEATH WOBBLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT UNDISCLOSED SPEEDS, THE WENT OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RANDY MARION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM 2000 US-421, WILKESBORO, NC 28697 WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE STEERING DAMPER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO HENDRICK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF CONCORD 7630 HENDRICK AUTO PLAZA NW, CONCORD, NC 28027, WHERE THE STEERING DAMPER WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO HENDRICK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF CONCORD, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BY A TECHNICIAN. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE FISHTAILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
VEHICLE STEERING BINDS UP WHILST ENTERING A TURN. THE EFFECT IS SCARY AND ALARMING, IMAGINE DRIVING AND THE ROAD MAKES A TURN, YOU START TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO NAVIGATE THE TURN, BUT RATHER THAN EXECUTING A NICE SMOOTH TURN, THE STEERING IS UNRESPONSIVE. IN FACT THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS LIKE IT IS LOCKED AND WILL NOT MOVE CAUSING EXTREME STRESS, ANXIETY, AND THE FEAR THAT YOU WILL BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 6 OR MORE TIMES. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILST TURNING LEFT AND TURNING RIGHT. USUALLY OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.
2018 JEEP JLU RUBICON. 11,000 MILES. STEERING HAS STARTED RANDOMLY LOCKING UP OR GETS VERY STIFF. ONLY HAPPENS FOR MAYBE A HALF SECOND OR SO AT A TIME. IF I DECREASE SPEED STEERING FUNCTION SEEMS TO RETURN TO NORMAL. OCCURS RANDOMLY AND I CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN JEEP IS WARMING UP FROM COLD AND AT SPEEDS AROUND 60MPH.
WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, A VIOLENT SHAKING OCCURS ON THE STOCK JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED ALL NEW JL 2018 WITH MINIMAL TRANSITION FROM PAVEMENT TO A DIFFERENT PAVEMENT OR BRIDGE TRANSITION. VIOLENT SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND WHEELS LASTS FOR 15-20 SECONDS WHILE TRAVELING THE DISTANCE OF A FOOTBALL FIELD OR MORE. VERY HARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT HAVE A POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. SAME ISSUE AS PRIOR JK MODEL COMPLAINTS OF THE 'DEATH WOBBLE'. THIS HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES WITH UNDER 5,000 MILES ON THIS BRAND NEW VEHICLE. NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN DONE TO THE JEEP. TIE ROD IN FRONT CONNECTED TO THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL HAS A SLIGHT BACK AND FORTH MOVEMENT WHEN MOVED BY HAND WHILE WHEELS ARE ALIGNED STRAIGHT FORWARD IN THE PARKED POSITION. OTHER SIDE DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME GIVE WHEN I TRIED TO SEE IF IT WOULD MOVE. ANOTHER PERSON ON THE JEEP WRANGLER FORUM ONLINE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AT ABOUT THE SAME MILEAGE ON THE JL.
I HAVE A NEW JEEP WRANGLER JL. I JUST RECENTLY HAVE NOTICED THAT A HIGH SPEEDS 55 AND ABOVE THAT MY VEHICLE WOBBLES AND WONT HOLD A STRAIGHT LINE. ALSO WHEN I HIT A BUMP MY STEERING WHEEL MOVES FROM RIGHT TO LEFT OR LEFT TO RIGHT IN A SHAKING MOTION
VIOLENT VIBRATION (DEATH WOBBLE) AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS EXPERIENCED TO STOCK JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED. OCCURRED WITHIN FIRST 3000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP (NOVEMBER 2018). RETURNED TO JEEP DEALER FOR FIX BUT PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAVE RETURNED.
JEEP IS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT STEERING LOCK-UP WHILE DRIVING, TYPICALLY AT FASTER SPEEDS SUCH AS 65MPH. THE STEERING FEELS AL THOUGH THE ENGINE SEIZED OR POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. ONCE SPEED SLOWS, THE STEERING ENGAGES AGAIN. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON RESIDENTIAL ROADS.
BOUGHT THE 2018 WRANGLER 4 MONTHS AGO. WITHOUT WARNING AT TIMES, STEERING WHEEL SEIZES/LOCKS UP WHEN NAVIGATING A LEFT CURVE IN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 40 MPH. LASTS 2-3 SECONDS AND YOU MUST BRAKE QUICKLY AND TO GAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE. WHEN IT LOCKS UP I CANNOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. CONTACTED DEALER AND MADE SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT STEERING ISSUES BUT WILL LOOK AT IT.
WAS DRIVING AT 9:30 AM ON ELDORADO PARKWAY IN FRISCO TX, OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE WAS ~ 45 DEG F. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TO TURN LEFT, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS INCREDIBLY TIGHT AND I NEARLY DRIFTED INTO THE LANE TO THE RIGHT. I CONTACTED THE CLOSEST DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUE. LESS THAN 48 HOUR LATER THEY CONTACTED ME STATING THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN AND THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO CORRECT. ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND BULLETIN 08-092-18 THAT DESCRIBED THE ISSUE. GIVEN THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM, I NO LONGER TRUST THIS VEHICLE.
MY JEEP IS SIX MONTHS OLD WITH APPROX 11100 MILES. RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 60 OR HIGHER, WHEN I HIT A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY MY STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY SHAKES UNTIL I EASE OFF THE GAS AND/OR SLOW DOWN.
MY JEEP WRANGLER IS BRAND NEW. BOUGHT IN SEPTEMBER 2018 AND DEFINITELY HAS THE DEATH WOBBLER. I HAVE READ OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WHERE GOING OVER AN ORDINARY BUMP AT 70MPH. GIVES YOU THE WOBBLE. ONE CANNOT TOTALLY AVOID THIS SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY IN TODAY'S TRAFFIC. IN MY OPINION THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN TO A VEHICLE SO NEW. WITH REGULAR ISSUED TIRES AND NO LIFT OR ANYTHING. IT IS JUST AS I RECEIVED IT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO REED CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM HYUNDAI (888-459-1976, LOCATED AT 3100 S, US-169, ST JOSEPH, MO 64503) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,800.
MY NEW JL JEEP HAS A DEATH WOBBLE WHEN I HIT SMALL BUMPS OR DRIVE ON FREEWAY THAT HAS THE SMALL BUMPS GOING ACROSS THE LANE. THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY FEELS LIKE I'M GOING TO CRASH. I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN AND ALMOST PULL OVER.
SATURDAY 11/10 GOING 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY MY STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY ONLY TO CORRECT ONCE SLOWING DOWN TO 40 MPH ON HIGHWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY 11/12. STEERING DAMPENER WAS REPLACED AND VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TUESDAY 11/20. ON TUESDAY 12/18 WHILE GOING 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY THE STEERING WHEEEL ONCE AGAIN BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND ONLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN IN MORNING TRAFFICS DID IT STOP. THE VEHICLE HAD 1,000 MILES SINCE IT WAS RETURNED IN NOVEMBER. I BEGAN MY LEASE ON THIS VEHICLE AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER AND IT HAS 3,000 MILES IN 3 MONTHS. IT IS ONCE AGAIN BACK IN SERVICE AND AWAITING ANOTHER STEERING DAMPENER AS A REPLACEMENT. JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DICK SCOTT IN PLYMOUTH HAVE BOTH BEEN EXTREMELY PLEASANT TO WORK WITH. HOWEVER, I HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN EVEN ONCE THE VEHICLE IS RETURNED. ORIGINAL STEERING DAMPENER FAILED AT 2,000 MILES AND REPLACEMENT DAMPENER FROM NOV 2018 FAILED AT 1,000 MILES. THE TERM THAT IS OFTEN USED FOR THIS STEERING SHAKING IS THE DEATH WOBBLE AND I HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS OF SOMETHING SIGNIVWNT HAPPENING. ALL STEERING SHAKING SHAVE OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY BETWEEN 60-65 MPH WHILE GOING STRAIGHT. NO MAJOR POTHOLES OR DISRUPTION TO THE ROAD WAS EXPERIENCED.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE, WHETHER STATIONARY OR MOVING, SOMETIMES THE PARKING ASSIST GRID LINES DO NOT SHOW UP AT ALL ON THE SCREEN THAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP YOU WHEN YOU ARE BACKING THE VEHICLE UP. THE GRID LINES LET YOU KNOW HOW FAR TO KEEP BACKING UP, IF YOU ARE GOING STRAIGHT OR AT AN ANGLE, LET YOU KNOW WHEN YOU SHOULD STOP BACKING UP, ETC. THIS MEANS YOU ARE NOT EXACTLY SURE WHEN YOU SHOULD STOP & SOMETIMES YOU HIT THE CURB BEHIND YOU WITH YOUR WHEELS OR IN MY CASE, I HIT OUR BACKYARD FENCE. I ALSO COULDN'T TELL THAT I WAS AS CLOSE TO A PARKED CAR AS I WAS OR THAT I DID NOT PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE STRAIGHT. I'VE EMAILED JEEP SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS & JOINED SEVERAL ONLINE BLOG GROUPS & JEEP KEEPS TELLING US JEEP OWNERS THEY WILL BE PUTTING OUT A UCONNECT UPGRADE WHICH SHOULD FIX IT BUT WE'VE BEEN WAITING OVER 2 YEARS NOW & NOTHING HAS HAPPENED.
WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY OVER 70MPH I HIT A SMALL BUMP AND MY STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. IT FORCED ME TO SLOW DOWN UNTIL THE SHAKING STOPPED.
LEASED THE JEEP WRANGLER JL IN OCTOBER 2019. WITHIN 3 WEEKS, THE "JEEP WOBBLE" OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF 65 MPH. GOING OVER A BRIDGE, THE CAR HIT A CONNECTOR IN ROAD AND STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND HAD TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN IMMEDIATELY AS IT FELT OUT OF CONTROL, CAUSING CARS BEHIND ME TO BRAKE. I MOVED OVER A LANE AND THE CAR STOPPED SHAKING ONCE I SLOWED DOWN BELOW 50MPH. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT'S NOT UNDER RECALL AND IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I COMPLETELY DISAGREE THAT IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AS DODGING CARS ON THE HIGHWAY IN ORDER TO SLOW MY CAR DOWN WHILE IT SHAKES VIOLENTLY IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE FOR EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A DAMPENER. I FINALLY GOT THE CAR BACK AFTER A WEEK AND WITHIN DAYS, THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD THEY WERE CONTACTING CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THEY INSTALLED THE PART CORRECTLY. MY CAR WAS THERE FOR ANOTHER WEEK WHILE THEY WAITED FOR CHRYSLER TO RETURN THEIR PHONE CALL. THEY INSTALLED A STRONGER PART, I WAS TOLD AND THEN FINALLY HAD MY CAR BACK. WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, THE WOBBLE HAPPENED AGAIN. I DROPPED THE CAR BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK ON 2/13 WHERE IT REMAINS. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED WORD ON WHAT IS BEING DONE AT THIS POINT. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AS WE ARE LEASING THIS CAR AND IT'S BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST 4 WEEKS TOTAL, WHICH IS ONE MONTH PAYMENT WITHOUT ME EVEN DRIVING THE CAR. WE ARE LOOKING INTO LEMON LAW SINCE THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF ANY RECALL. AGAIN, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. I HAVE 2 KIDS THAT TRAVEL WITH ME IN THAT JEEP AND AM NEVER COMFORTABLE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AS I NEVER KNOW WHEN THAT VIOLENT SHAKE WILL HAPPEN.
WHEN DRIVING OUR NEW 2018 JEEP WRANGLER JL SPORT, THAT HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHAT IS COME TO BE KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. IT BEGAN AROUND THE 5,000 MILE RANGE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN WE HIT A POTHOLE, EXPANSION JOINT OR QUITE HONESTLY ANY ABNORMALITY IN THE ROAD AND THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE CAN BE ANYWHERE FROM 40 MPH OR HIGHER. JUST RECENTLY I WAS GOING 65 MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND CLIPPED A POTHOLE AND IT FELT LIKE MY JEEP WAS GOING TO FALL APART. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE WOBBLE IS TO APPLY THE BRAKES. WHEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY GOING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AT 65 MPH THE DANGERS ARE TREMENDOUS IN HAVING TO DO THIS. OUR JEEP IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE.
VEHICLE EXHIBITS VAGUE, WANDERING STEERING. IT COULD BE DESCRIBED AS JITTERY UNDER CERTIAN CONDITIONS LIKE BUMPY ROADS WHILE PASSING TRUCKS. MORE ALARMING IS THE SO CALLED DEATH WOBBLE THAT OCCURS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED ON HIGHWAYS AND WILL NOT SUBSIDE UNTIL THE VEHICLE SPEED IS REDUCED DRASTICALLY TO AN UNSAFE SPEED FOR INTERSTATE TRAVEL.
IT'S DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE (2018 JEEP RUBICON JL) FROM WEAVING WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT'S SCARY DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN TRAFFIC WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WEAVING. DEALER SAYS THERE ISN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASE NOV 6, 2018 WITH 6 MILES ON IT.
I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS MANY OTHERS. I HAVE A VERY LOSE AND "WANDERING" STEERING PROBLEM. THERE IS ABOUT A 1" DEAD SPOT ON THE WHEEL THAT YOU CAN MOVE WITHOUT ANYTHING HAPPENING. THE ISSUE GETS PRONOUNCED THE FASTER YOU GO. AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE JEEP WANDERS FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN THE LANE WITH A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF ATTENTION NEEDED TO KEEP IT GOING STRAIGHT.
OUR JEEP HAS 8000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHEN THE TIRES WOULD HIT A BUMP, THE VEHICLE WOULD START TO VIBRATE SEVERELY, WHAT OTHERS HAVE BEEN CALLING THE "DEATH WOBBLE." THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH. APPLYING THE BRAKES CAUSED THE SHAKING TO STOP. IT'S A VERY SCARY FEELING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS GIVEN A LOANER TO DRIVE, AS THE TECH SAID MY JEEP WRANGLER WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THE STEERING DAMPER NEEDED REPLACING. THE PART IS ON BACKORDER.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER JLU HAS EXPERIENCED STEERING WOBBLE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60+ MPH AFTER HITTING A BUMP SUCH AS A BRIDGE JOINT. THE WOBBLE MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED. MY JEEP IS UNMODIFIED AND HAS AROUND 3000 MILES ON IT.
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MILES PER HOUR, IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A FOUR-LANE HIGHWAY, I APPROACHED A CURVE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. I HIT THE BRAKES AND SLOWED DOWN, AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO RESPOND ONCE MY SPEED DROPPED BELOW 55 MILES PER HOUR. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES.
MY NEW WRANGLER JL, APPROXIMATELY 6500 MILES ON IT, IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE OTHERS HAVE DESCRIBED ON THESE NEW VEHICLES WITH THE "DEATH WOBBLE." THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND CROSSED OVER A BRIDGE. AS THE VEHICLE WENT OVER THE BUMP WHERE THE BRIDGE MEETS THE PAVEMENT, THE CAR STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I ASSUMED I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND STARTED TO PULL OVER. AS SOON AS MY CAR WENT BELOW 50 MPH, THE WOBBLE STOPPED. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY NOW, ALTHOUGH NOT EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP. THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS TODAY WHEN IT SHOOK AT ITS MOST VIOLENT PACE YET, AND I WAS ACTUALLY ONLY GOING ABOUT 55MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED. I BELIEVE IT IS GETTING WORSE. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED, I WAS ON A THREE HOUR DRIVE AND IT ONLY HAPPENED TWICE. ON THE WAY BACK, IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES. SINCE THEN, IT FEELS LIKE IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I GET ON THE FREEWAY, AND USUALLY I'M ONLY ON THE FREEWAY FOR 5 MINUTES AT MOST. I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE JUNE. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT ALL UNTIL NOVEMBER 2ND AND NOW IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THE WOBBLE CAN BE VERY SIGNIFICANT AND THERE IS NO WAY THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SUSTAINING DAMAGE WITH THAT KIND OF WOBBLE, NOT TO MENTION IT SCARES ME WHEN IT HAPPENS AND I'M CLOSE TO OTHER CARS ON THE FREEWAY AT 65+MPH. WHEN I'M GOING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, SLOWING DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT IS NOT DRIVABLE FOR MORE THAN A FEW MOMENTS WHEN IT IS WOBBLING SO SIGNIFICANTLY, THE DRIVER HAS TO SLOW DOWN.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING AROUND A BEND AT 65 MILES AN HOUR, THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT FELT LIKE THE JEEP WAS GOING TO FALL APART RIGHT UNDER ME. IT STOPPED SHAKING WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO AROUND 35 MILES. IT WAS TOED TO A DEALERSHIP. IT ONLY HAS 3100 MILES & 4 MONTHS OLD. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE BUT STILL AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE DRIVING AT 55-75 MPH, WHEN HITTING A BUMP, THE WHEELS START BOUNCING ERRATICALLY AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS TO SLOW DOWN TO 40-50 MPH. OUT OF ALL THE CARS AND TRUCKS I'VE EVER DRIVEN, I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE TO THIS. EVERYONE IN THE CAR FREAKED OUT AND NOW NO-ONE IN MY FAMILY WILL DRIVE THE CAR. IT'S A NEW WRANGLER, STILL < 10,000 MILES AND NO MODIFICATIONS TO ANYTHING - COMPLETELY STOCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 20-25 TIMES. OUR RECENT 3 HOUR DRIVE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES.

GAP IN THE STEERING WHEEL , I CAN MOVE THE WHEEL LIKE AN INCH RIGHT AND LEFT AND THE CAR KEEP GOING STRAIGHT AND FEELS LIKE I'M FIGHTING THE STEERING TO KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT AND THE CAR WON'T DRIVE STRAIGHT
THE VEHICLE WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD, FEELS LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING IN A WIND STORM. PLAY IN THE STEERING. WORSE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. STARTED FROM THE DAY I DROVE IT HOME, HAS BEEN TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS 4 TIMES, CANNOT FIIND ANYTHING WRONG. WAS TOLD ITS A JEEP THING. CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A WEEK WORKING WITH CHRYSLER ENGINEERS.
DROVE INTO THE GAS STATION, PUT MY JEEP IN PARK, PUT THE EMERGENCY BREAK ON, TURNED IT OFF AND PROCEEDED TO FILL UP THE TANK, I DID NOT TOP THE TANK OFF, GOT BACK IN MY JEEP STARTED IT BACK UP, ENGINE STARTED FINE, RELEASED EMERGENCY BREAK PUT JEEP IN DRIVE PUT FOOT ON GAS TO PROCEED OUT OF THE GAS STATION JEEP PULLED OUT OF THE GAS BAY AND I DROVE FORWARD SLOWLY, WHILE TURNING LEFT OUT OF THE BAY. I DROVE FORWARD WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS ABOUT 20 FEET. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE JEEP CAME TO A STOP AND SHUT OFF WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. I WOULD PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL TO MOVE FORWARD AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN IT JUST REMAINED STATIONARY.. ALL ELECTRONICS STILL WORKED IN THE CAR. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED ON MY HAZARDS TURNED THE JEEP OFF AND THEN BACK ON, AND ENGINE WAS NOT STARTING. TURNED IT ON AND OFF 3 MORE TIMES AND FINALLY THE ENGINE STARTED BACK UP ON THE 4TH TIME AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY. THIS HAS NOT OCCURRED AGAIN, BUT I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT OTHER THAN 20 MILES BACK HOME WHERE IT NOW IS SITTING WAITING TO GO TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP.
