THE STEERING IS VERY LOOSE (LOTS OF PLAY), WANDERS BACK AND FORTH IN LANE AND IS OVERLY SENSITIVE TO INPUT - CONSTANTLY DARTING BACK AND FORTH AS IF ON ICE. THIS OCCURS MOST WHEN ON ROUGH / WET PAVEMENT, ON CURVES IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES, WHEN LARGE TRUCKS PASS, ON WINDY DAYS - IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL ABOVE 40 MPH. DEALER HAS BEEN RESPONSIVE AND HELPFUL - WE HAVE REPLACED TRACK BAR, REPLACED TIE ROD BUSHINGS, UPDATED STEERING CONTROL MODULE, ADJUSTED ALIGNMENT, REDUCED AIR PRESSURE IN TIRES - ALL OF WHICH HAS HELPED REDUCE WANDER AND IMPROVE CONTROL. BUT, STILL HAS SOME WANDER AND IS VERY SENSITIVE. REPLACED STEERING STABILIZER WITH CUSTOM ADJUSTABLE STABILIZER, WHICH I EXPECT WILL ELIMINATE WANDER AND TIGHTEN / FIRM STEERING. BUT, I BELIEVE PROBLEM IS DEFECTIVE STEERING GEAR / BOX, AND SETTINGS IN STEERING CONTROL MODULE - WHICH SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. NEEDS FIRMER, TIGHTER STEERING WITH LESS PLAY. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE, STEERING ISSUE IS RESOLVED. *DT CONSUMER STATED AT THIS POINT IT WILL BE UP TO THE MFR TO SEE IF THEY CAN ELIMINATE IT WITH UPGRADED STEERING BOX AND STEERING CONTROL. PENDING SOME ACTION LIKE THAT, FOR WHICH I'M NOT GOING TO PRESS THE DEALER / MFR, "IT IS WHAT IT IS" AND WE WILL JUST HAVE TO TAKE EXTRA CARE IN DRIVING IT IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES, HEAVY TRAFFIC, ROUGH PAVEMENT, AND STRONG WINDS.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DEFROSTER WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HUNTINGTON DODGE (5080 JERICHO TURNPIKE, COMMACK, NY 11725, (631) 993-3300) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL APRIL 22, 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000.
JEEP WANDERS BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN LANES. THE AMOUNT OF EFFORT TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT IS EXHAUSTING.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT DEALER SINCE OCTOBER WITH WHAT I HAVE FOUND BY RESEARCH TO BE CALLED A "DEATH WOBBLE" THE VEHICLE SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLE AROUND CORNER AND OVER BUMPS AND CANNOT BE DRIVEN. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES PER WEEK SINCE THIS HAS STARTED WITH ZERO RESOLUTION. I ATTACHED SERVICE RECORDS OF WHAT THEY HAVE TRIED TO FIX AND HASNT WORKED. I NEED HELP.
PURCHASED A 2019 WRANGLER UNLIMITED FOR OVER $40,000 ON MAY 4, 2019. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED AN ISSUE WITH STEERING. IT SWAYS LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT AND IT'S EXHAUSTING TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AT AROUND 100 MILES AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I ASKED THE TECH TO TAKE MINE AND ONE ON THE LOT FOR A TEST DRIVE WHICH HE DID. HE IMMEDIATELY SAW THE ISSUE. HE SEARCHED FOR A FIX AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A PART HE COULD TRY TO REPLACE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE (TRACK BAR). I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK AT 212 MILES AND THEY DID THE WORK. HE SAID THAT'S BASICALLY ALL THEY COULD DO AND HOPEFULLY IT FIXED IT. WELL IT DIDN'T FIX IT AT ALL. IT'S STILL EXHAUSTING TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE YOU CAN'T KEEP IT IN THE LANE. NOW WHEN I DRIVE STRAIGHT, THE STEERING WHEEL IS CROOKED AND FEELS LIKE IT'S SWAYING LEFT TO RIGHT WORSE. I AM HONESTLY NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS CAR FAR AWAY FROM MY HOME OR ON A HIGHWAY BECAUSE I MAY HURT SOME. I HAVE HAD JEEPS MY WHOLE LIFE AND MY LAST TWO 2010 AND 2011 DROVE PERFECT AND THE STEERING WAS TIGHT AS CAN BE. WHEN YOU DROVE STRAIGHT THE CAR JUST WENT STRAIGHT. I AM GOING TO CONTACT MY DEALER AGAIN TO SEE IF JEEP HAS RELEASED ANYTHING ON THIS ISSUE. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HERE SO I KNOW IT'S NOT ME AND I FEEL THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SAFETY ISSUE FOR BOTH ME AS A DRIVER AND ANYONE AROUND.
