MY 2019 RUBICON FROM DAY 1 HAS HAD A DANGEROUS WANDERING ISSUE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON A STRAIGHT TRACK AND SOMETIMES TO EVEN STAY IN YOUR LANE. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY IN WINDY CONDITIONS. WRANGLER STYLE JEEPS ARE KNOWN FOR CATCHING THE WIND HOWEVER, WITH THE WANDERING PROBLEM IN THE STEERING YOU TEND TO OVERSTEER TO COMPENSATE MAKING THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT NEW AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS HOW JEEPS ARE. I KNOW HOW ALL VEHICLES ARE AND WHERE THEY CROSS THE LINE WITH A SAFETY ISSUE. IF YOU GO ON LINE AND PUNCH IN JEEP WANDERING ISSUES THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF POST ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS THAT JEEP JUST IGNORES THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I WOULDN'T BE TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE THIS IF IT WERE JUST AN INCONVENIENCE. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. MY WIFE HAS A 2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND IT RIDES LIKE A LUXURY CAR. SHE WON;T EVEN DRIVE MY RUBICON BECAUSE SHE IS SO SCARED OF HOW IT WANDERS. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS TO BE CONSTANTLY COMPENSATED BACK AND FORTH TO KEEP IT IN LINE. SO MUCH SO THAT I WORRY SOME TIMES THAT IF THERE WERE A COP IN BACK OF ME THAT HE WOULD THINK I WAS IMPAIRED THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS BACK AND FORTH. I BOUGHT MY 4 DOOR 2019 RUBICON BRAND NEW AND IT ONLY HAS 21,000 MILES ON IT NOW. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO BE AFRAID TO DRIVE A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH A SAFETY ISSUE LIKE THIS AND JEEP SHOULD HAVE FIXED THIS OBVIOUS ISSUE AND NOT BE IGNORING IT. LETS NOT WAIT TILL SOMEONE GETS KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE AND HUNDREDS OF POST I HAVE READ IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM IS LIMITED TO WRANGLER MODEL JEEPS. PLEASE HELP!!
WHILE DRIVING 3 TIMES IN 229 MILES THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM HAS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. NOT STEERING EASILY AT ALL. NO LIGHTS. NO WARNINGS. NO ALARMS. NO ERRORS. ALL THREE TIMES IT JUST CAME BACK ON 1/4 TO 2 MILES LATER.
REMOVED MY FRONT BUMPER FOR FLAT TOWING AND UPON REMOVAL NOTICED EXTREMELY POROUS WELDS AND SEVERAL WELDS WITH LACK OF FUSION, SPATTER, AND UNDERCUT.
THE STEERING WANDERS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE WHILE DRIVING WITH OUT CONTINUOUS DRIVER INPUT. THERE SEEMS TO BE A MOMENTARY LAG FROM THE INPUT TO THE STEERING WHEEL BEFORE THE VEHICLE CHANGES DIRECTION. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS MOVING SLIGHTLY TO ONE SIDE, AND WHEN SUFFICIENT CORRECTION IS MADE, THE VEHICLE IS WANDERING TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE. I HAVE OWNED MY VEHICLE FOR ONE MONTH. I INITIALLY BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE TRACK BAR. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE.
STEERING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 25 MPH WITH THIS VEHICLE YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THERE'S TOO MUCH PLAY IN THE STEERING, REQUIRING CONSTANT CORRECTIONS ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY. DRIFTING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT TRYING TO KEEP THE VEHICLE BETWEEN LANES ON THE ROADS/FREEWAYS CAN TO LEAD TO DRIVERS FATIGUE; WHICH COULD LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
WANDERING LOOSE DEAD STEERING, BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH ONLY 176 MILES. THE VEHICLE WANDERS AS YOU DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD, TRYING TO STAY IN A STRAIGHT LINE REQUIRES MUCH VIGILANCE AND ATTENTION, IF YOU LOOK DOWN TO ADJUST YOUR TEMPERATURE OR ADJUST THE RADIO, THE VEHICLE WILL VEER TOWARDS ANOTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC EVEN THOUGH YOU'VE MADE NO STEERING INPUT CHANGES, THEN YOU NEED TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL 1.5 TO 2 INCHES TO START TO GET STEERING INPUT TO CORRECT THE VEHICLE FROM THE OTHER LANE AND BACK INTO YOURS. IT SHOULD BE MORE RESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE REQUIRES EXCESSIVE STEERING AND VEERS ON IT OWN. ALSO WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND YOU ENCOUNTER A BUMP OR POTHOLE, THE VEHICLES FRONT END WILL SHAKE WOBBLE AS IF YOU'VE LOST CONTROL FOR ONE TO TWO SECONDS, I WOULD HATE TO ENCOUNTER THIS GOING AROUND A TURN AT A FREEWAY SPEED. THIS BRAND NEW VEHICLE IN THE YEAR 2019 SHOULD NOT OPERATE THIS WAY, IT IS UNSAFE FOR THOSE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLE OTHERS WHEN IT VEERS ON ITS OWN.
JEEP WRANGLER HAS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH CLUTCH SLIPPING.IT IS UNDER RECALL. IT'S BEEN IN DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIME OVER LAST 2 YEARS. THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CO-LEASED THIS WITH MY SON WHO HAS PUT ONLY AROUND 4,000 MILES ON THE JEEP IN 2 YEARS BECAUSE HE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT
VEHICLE STEERING IS EXTREMELY HARD TO KEEP VEHICLE IN A STRAIGHT LINE. ESPECIALLY DIFFICULT AT HIGHER SPEEDS, 60+. YOU ARE CONSTANTLY FIGHTING THE VEHICLE. SHOULD YOU LOOK AWAY JUST FOR A SECOND YOU FIND YOURSELF VEERING TO ONE SIDE OR ANOTHER. VERY UNSAFE IN MY OPINION. YOU MUST BE EXTREMELY VIGILANT AT ALL TIMES. LESS THAN 300 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. I WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG. SEARCHING JEEP FORUMS THIS APPEARS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS AND NOTHING IS BEING ADDRESS BY JEEP. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON 04/02/2019.
STEERING FEELS LOOSE WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. CAR WANDERS ON THE ROAD AND REQUIRES CONSTANT STEERING INPUT TO STAY IN THE LANE. FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING AN OLD TOY GO-CART, WITH A DEAD SPOT IN THE STEERING. THERE IS SO MUCH PLAY THAT THE STEERING WHEEL CAN BE TURNED ~10 DEGREES WITH NO CHANGE. RESEARCHED THAT THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH 2018 AND 2019 JEEP WRANGLERS. JEEP SERVICE STATES THAT THE PROBLEM CAN BE FIXED WITH A NEW TRACK BAR, BUT THE DEALERS ARE ALLOWED TO ONLY ORDER ONE PART PER WEEK. MY DEALER STATED THAT HE CANNOT ORDER THE PART FOR ANOTHER 4 DAYS! SINCE WHEN CAN A MANUFACTURER RATION PARTS THAT ARE CRITICAL FOR VEHICLE SAFETY?!
AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 40 MPH, THERE IS ABOUT 1.5 INCHES OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL AT TOP DEAD CENTER. THIS VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO KEEP IN THE LANE IN WINDY CONDITIONS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60-70 MPH). STAR PUB S1819000003 WAS PERFORMED, TRACK BAR AND STEERING DAMPER WERE REPLACED. WANDERING IS LESS, BUT NO CHANGE IN THE EXCESSIVE PLAY. OPENED JEEP WAVE CASE 58745605. CASE WAS CLOSED BY FCA STATING THAT THE STEERING WAS AS DESIGNED AND A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAD ME DRIVE TWO OTHER COMPARABLE VEHICLES AND INDEED THEY ALL WANDER AND HAVE PLAY IN THE STEERING AS DOES MINE.ONE WAS EVEN WORSE. THIS STEERING CHARACTERISTIC IS BORDERLINE UNSAFE IN WINDY CONDITIONS ON A TWO LANE ROAD AND FCA IS OFFERING NO FIX AT THIS TIME.
EXCESSIVE PLAY IN STEERING/ WANDERING ON ROAD, CONSTANTLY CORRECTING STEERING TO KEEP JEEP IN MY LANE. WHEN BETWEEN VEHICLES ON HIGHWAY OR JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I NEED TO KEEP CORRECTING THE STEERING TO KEEP IN MY LANE. HAD A FEW CLOSE CALLS BETWEEN BIG RIGS ON HIGHWAY. I'M CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY AND MY SAFETY DRIVING THIS NEW 2019 JEEP RUBICON 2 DOOR. THE JEEP IS ALL STOCK NO LIFT KIT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I TOOK POSSESSION OF THE CAR ON APRIL 1ST 2019
VEHICLE WANDERS, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TRACK BAR HAS BEEN REPLACED PER TSB 02-003-19, STEERING DAMPER REPLACED PER V41 RECALL, AND TO DATE, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ALIGNED MORE THAN THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (EVEN ON MULTI-LANE FREEWAYS) DESPITE THE REPAIRS AND ADJUSTMENTS PERFORMED BY THE DEALER.
STEERING WANDERS ON HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DOES NOT KEEP IN LANE, NEEDS CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTION AND INPUT. YOU CANT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF EVEN FOR A SECOND AS IT COULD MEAN THE JEEP COULD BE GOING INTO ONCOMING LANE OR ADJACENT LANES.
I HAVE 2019 JEEP WRANGLER AND SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE STEERING YOU CAN'T KEEP IT IN THE LANE. YOU ARE ALWAYS CORRECTING YOUR STEERING TO KEEP IT GOING STRAIGHT. I HAVE HAD 2 OTHER WRANGLERS AND NONE OF THEM DROVE LIKE THIS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEEP TELLING NOTHING IS WRONG. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS JEEP. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED BUT IS MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN YOU ARE GOING 50MPH ON ANY ROAD TYPE.
UCONNECT 8.4 GPS AND ELEVATION INOP INTERMITTENTLY. IN THE MIDDLE OF ANYWHERE. NO PATTERN. CITY, COUNTRY, ETC. OUTSIDE TEMP INOP ONCE AT 40 TO 60 F BACKUP CAMERA NEGATIVE COLORING/BLACK INTERMITTENT. ALL SEEM TO RESET AFTER A DAY.
EXCESS PLAY IN STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THE EXCESS PLAY GETS WORSE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND REQUIRES CONSTANT SMALL CORRECTIONS IN THE STEERING IN ORDER TO STAY IN YOUR LANE. THIS "WANDERING" OF THE VEHICLE GETS DANGEROUS AS YOUR ARE CONSTANTLY TRYING TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM WANDERING INTO OTHER LANES. NEEDLES TO SAY, IT IS ALSO EXHAUSTING ON TRIPS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURE HOWEVER IS NOT AFFECTING ALL OF THE WRANGLES AS SOME OF THEM HAVE NO STEERING ISSUES WHATSOEVER. MOST DEALERSHIPS WILL TELL YOU THAT THE VEHICLE DRIVES AS DESIGNED, HOWEVER, THIS IS MY 4TH WRANGLER AND I HAVE NEVER FELT THIS PLAY IN STEERING BEFORE. I HAVE TEST DRIVEN SIX WRANGLERS IN 2019 AND SOME DRIVE PERFECT, SO I KNOW THE VEHICLE CAN DRIVE MUCH BETTER AND THE "LOOSE" STEERING IS NOT DRIVING AS DESIGNED. IF IT IS, JEEP HAS A REAL PROBLEM ON THEIR HANDS AS THIS WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS.
DAY 1 AFTER PURCHASE THE STEERING WAS SO LOOSE YOU HAD TO CONSTANTLY MAKE ADJUSTMENT TO STAY IN YOUR LANE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOOK IT BACK THEY CHECK IT AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE IT TYPICAL OF A JEEP. SAID TO DRIVE IT AND I WOULD GET USED TO IT. I PUT SEVERAL MILES ON IT AND WAS NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING. I PURCHASED A TERAFLEX 2.2 ADJUSTABLE STEERING STABILIZER HOPING THAT WOULD HELP AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT BACK THEY FLASHED THE COMPUTER BECAUSE I ASKED THEM TO AFTER I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM. IT STILL WASN'T FIXED. THEY TOOK IT BACK AND PERFORMED THE RECALL BY REPLACING THE STEERING BOX AND REINSTALLING THE OLD STOCK STABILIZER PREVIOUSLY REPLACE BY AFTERMARKET ONE. IT SEEMED BETTER AT FIRST. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOPING IT WOULD WORK ITSELF OUT, BUT IT DIDN'T. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPAIRED A BOOT THAT WAS TORN FROM THE RECALL AND SAID THE COMPUTER STILL NEEDED TO BE FLASHED TO FINISH THE RECALL WHICH THEY DID. THE JEEP STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND HAS LOOSE /DEAD SPOT IN THE STEERING. IT HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION AND ON ANY STREET. I PLAN ON GIVING THIS JEEP TO MY SON WHEN HE TURNS 16 AND BUYING A NEW ONE. HOWEVER AS OF TODAY I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE STEERING TO LET A NEW DRIVER BEHIND THE WHEEL. PLEASE HELP.
WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD OVER 45 MPH. DEALER JUST SAYS CAN'T REPLICATE WHAT A JOKE
LOOSE STEERING TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID ITS NORMAL IN A JEEP TO HAVE THAT LOOSE STEERING AND NOTHING WAS DONE IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE
WINDSHIELD CHIPS EASILY. WHILE DRIVING INTO WORK AT SPEEDS AROUND 35MPH A SMALL CHIP OCCURRED EXTREMELY EASILY. I AM NOT ONE TO FOLLOW CLOSE BEHIND PEOPLE AND IN 16 YEARS OF DRIVING HAVE NEVER HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD. THIS HAPPENED ON DAY 3 OF OWNERSHIP. GETTING ON JEEP FORUMS THERE ARE 23 PAGES OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE REPLACE THEIR $500 WINDSHIELDS MULTIPLE TIMES.
AFTER ABOUT 2700 MILES ON THE ODOMETER OUR STOCK JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON WITH NO AFTERMARKET PARTS STARTED TO HAVE VERY POOR STEERING, AND WAS HARD TO KEEP IN OUR LANE. IT ALSO STARTED TO HAVE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKE BACK AND FORTH FAST WHEN HITTING AN EXPANSION JOIN IN THE ROAD OR A BRIDGE. THE JEEP IS NOW DIFFICULT TO KEEP IN OUR LANE, AND IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ON NARROW, WINDY OR ROADS WITH CONSTRUCTION. WE WERE ALMOST IN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS ONCE THIS STARTED ON A ROAD TRIP. THIS ISSUE GETS WORSE AND WORSE WITH SPEED. YOU CAN GRAB THE TIE RODS ENDS AND TRACK BAR AND OTHER STEERING COMPONENTS AND THEY ALL NOW HAVE LIKE 1/8 IN OF PLAY AT EACH END. YOU CAN EASILY SHAKE THEM UP AND DOWN / BACK AND FORTH. THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE FOR THE FIRST 2500 OR SO MILES. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS AT TIMES YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN VERY FAST DUE TO THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING. ALSO, IT VEERS FROM SIDE TO SIDE DUE TO THE LOOSE STEERING WHERE YOU CAN MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL OVER 1 1/2 INCHES WITHOUT THE TIRES MOVING AT ALL. I HAVE VIDEOS OF ALL THESE ISSUES OCCURRING, AND YOU CAN ALSO SEE THE STEERING COMPONENTS MOVING WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED BEFORE THE PLAY IS OUT AND THE WHEELS MOVE. WE ARE NOW SCARED TO DRIVE OUR VEHICLE DUE TO OUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS ON THE ROAD.
2019 JEEP WRANGLER DRIFTS WHEN DRIVING. I'VE HAD 4 JEEPS WRANGLERS AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. ACTUALLY TOOK IT BACK IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE WITH COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD IT'S THE NEW SUSPENSION. ALSO WENT BACK AGAIN WITH SAME COMPLAINT AND HAD SERVICE PERSON DRIVE IT BUT WAS AGAIN TOLD THERE'S NO PROBLEM. I LIVE IN RURAL AREA AND A LOT OF 2 LANE ROADS AND SO AFRAID OF NOT BEING ABLE TO KEEP IT IN MY LANE WHILE DRIVING. AT THE AGE 73 NOTHING SOLVED AND I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS VEHICLE.
PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL OF 0.75 INCH TO EACH SIDE. JEEP TRIED TO FIX ISSUE BY INSTALLING AN UPGRADED TRACK BAR, STEERING DAMPER AND INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT. ISSUE IMPROVED TO 0.75 INCHES OF PLAY TO EACH SIDE FROM ABOUT 1 INCH TO EACH SIDE. STEERING PLAY MAINLY NOTICABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OVER 60 MPH. CONSTANT CORRECTION IS REQUIRED TO STAY IN LANE. ISSUE IS REALLY SIGNIFICANT ON WINDY DAYS SINCE OVER CORRECTION IS LIKELY. I HAD A SITUATION PASSING TWO TRUCKS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND I COULD HARDLY MANAGE THE TURBULENCE AND NOT HITTING ONE OF THE TRUCKS. MY DAUGHTER IS NOT DRIVING THE THE WRANGLER SINCE SHE FEELS NOT SAVE. MY WIFE AND I GETTING TIRED DRIVING REALLY QUICKLY. JEEP HAS NO SOLUTION AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT THERE IS NO FIX. IF I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL BY .75 INCHES THE STEERING COLUMN TURNS , THE LINK TO THE STEERING GEARBOX TURNS BUT THE OUTPUT ARM OF THE STEERING GEARBOX IS NOT MOVING.
DRIVING HIGH WAY SPEEDS HIT A GROVE IN THE ROAD ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE WHOLE FRONT END TURNS TO JELLO. THE STEERING FEEL VIOLENTLY SHAKES TO THE POINT WHERE YOU LOSE STEERING. YOU CAN'T GET OVER TO SLOW DOWN TO SLOWER SPEEDS AND YOU CANNOT GRIP THE STEERING WHEEL TOO TIGHT BECAUSE THE VIBRATION WILL HAVE NO WHERE TO GO AND YOU WILL EVENTUALLY FLIP OVER.THE ONLY THING TO STOP THE VIBRATION IS TO SLOW DOWN WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE ON A HIGHWAY WHERE EVERYONE IS DRIVING 75MPH. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THIS FIXED TWICE. JEEP KEEPS TRYING TO PUT A STEERING DAMPER ON IT THAT DOES NOT WORK. THEY REFUSE TO CHECK FOR WELDING WORK OR ANYTHING ELSE MANUFACTURED DEFECTIVE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES MARCH 2019 AND OCTOBER 2019 ARE THE DATE I SENT IT IN FOR SERVICE. PLEASE HELP US CONSUMERS I HAVE CHILDREN AND ITS NOT SAFE
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at 50 MPH, the steering wheel was shaking significantly causing the contact to almost lose control of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure ceased upon depressing the brake pedal and coming to a stop. However, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper and the tie rod needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall that was previously completed on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK HAD PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE REVVING TRYING TO SHIFT THERE WAS A LOUD BANG, PULLED OFF THE ROAD, STARTED SEEING SMOKE COME FROM THE VEHICLE THEN WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND BURNED COMPLETELY UP. THERE IS A COMPLAINT WITH FCA CASE NUMBER 58132542 THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 40 MPH ON 295 PARKWAY WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED. I DID NOT TAKE ANY PICTURES THERE IS A POLICE REPORT IF NEEDED. THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY BEEN IN MY POSITION SENSE 26 JAN 2019 WITH ONLY 1000 MILES ON IT WHEN IT HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT RESULTED JEEP TOTALLY BURNING UP. *DT*JB
LOOSE STEERING. LARGE DEAD SPOT. OFF CENTERED. VERY WOBBLY AND NOT STABLE. WANDERS ON THE HIGHWAY AND WON'T DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE. DANGEROUS.
#1, STEERING CONTROL IS TERRIBLE WITH THIS JEEP. HAVE TO CORRECT THE STEERING CONTINUOUSLY JUST TO KEEP IT IN THE PROPER LANE. OTHER NEW JEEP OWNERS THAT I HAVE LISTENED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM TO THEIR DEALERSHIPS. THEY GET THE SAME ANSWERS AS I HAVE RECEIVER FROM THE SERVICE MANAGERS "IT'S A JEEP THING AND YOU JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT". THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THE COMPANY NEEDS TO CORRECT IT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. #2. DRIVETRAIN. I HAVE OWNED OTHER JEEPS IN MY TIME BUT NEVER ONE WITH A TRANSFER CASE AS STILL TO SHIFT AS THIS ONE. AND ONCE AGAIN I AM NOT THE ONLY JEEP DRIVER COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW HARD IT IS TO SHIFT FROM HI TOLO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND IMPOSSIBLE TO GET INTO LOW LOW. I AM NOT EXACTLY WEAK AND I HAVE TO PULL ON THE LEVER TO GET IT INTO LOW WITH ALL MY MIGHT. MY DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT WILL LOOSEN UP THE MORE YOU USE IT. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND SHE FINDS IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT INTO LOW RANGE NO MATTER HOW HARD SHE TRIES. I BOUGHT THIS NEW VEHICLE TO BE ABLE TO USE IT NOW NOT SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE.
WHILE DRIVING, YOU HAVE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. INTERSTATE , YOU HAVE TO CORRECT OR FIGHT THE PLAY WHILE PASSING 18 WHEELERS. THIS MAKES YOUR JUDGEMENT WRONG WHEN PASSING THE 18 WHEELER AND SOMEONE WILL GET HURT BY OVER CORRECTING THE WHEEL AND CAUSING A SPIN OUT.
THE VEHICLE WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD. I AM CONSTANTLY MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL JUST TO KEEP IT BETWEEN THE LINES. IF I HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL STRAIGHT THE JEEP WILL SUDDENLY AND VERY SHARPLY PULL TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT INTO ANOTHER LANE. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHETHER THE ROAD IS SMOOTH OR ROUGH. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THE FASTER I AM GOING THE HARDER IT IS TO KEEP CONTROL. IT IS ACTUALLY FRIGHTENING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MPH. I WOULDN'T EVEN CONSIDER TAKING IT ON A HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH. THIS ISN'T JUST "JEEP STEERING". THIS IS MY 4TH WRANGLE AND THEY ALL HAD "JEEP STEERING". THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT JEEP SEEMS TO BE IGNORING.
LOOSE STEERING, LOTS OF PLAY ON CENTER, VERY HARD TO STEER ON BACK ROADS, CONSTANT ADJUSTMENT REQUIRED TO STAY STRAIGHT. 3 INCHES OF PLAY IN EACH DIRECTION WITH NO MOVEMENT OF VEHICLE. NOT SAFE TO OPERATE ON 2 LANE ROADS
BRAND NEW 2019 JEEP JL WRANGLER RUBICON. HAS LESS THAN 700 MILES; PROBLEM WAS NOTICEABLE IMMEDIATELY UPON DELIVERY OF VEHICLE. ISSUE: STEERING HAS A "DEAD SPOT" WHEN WHEELS ARE STRAIGHT CENTER. THIS DEAD SPOT IS ABOUT 2 INCHES OF PLAY, AND MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN DRIVING OVER 50 MPH. I HAVE ROUGH JEEP IN SEVERAL TIMES. V41 RECALL (STEERING DAMPER) ALREADY COMPLETED, ALONG WITH ALL STEERING COMPONENTS TO INCLUDE: STEERING BOX (AE); TRACK BAR; FRONT BAR; DRAG LINK; TIE ROD; SOCKET DRIVE (CONNECTS TO PITMAN ARM). TIRE PRESSURES CHECKED AND REALIGNED. NO CHANGE. NOT SURE WHERE ELSE TO GO NOW. DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS IS NOT SAFE! I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO CORRECT STEERING ON STRAIGHT SECTIONS (LIKE A BOWLING BALL GOING DOWN ALLEY WITH BUMPERS ON SIDES). IN OTHER WORDS, YOU HAVE TO OVER-CORRECT TO BECAUSE JEEP DOES NOT START TO TURN UNTIL PAST DEAD SPOT.
STEERING HAS A DEAD SPACE, ABOUT A 1.5" TO 2" UNTIL IT STARTS TURNING. WHILE GOING OVER 50MPH IT TENDS TO DRIFT AWAY FROM THE ROAD. I'M CONSTANTLY ADJUSTING MY STEERING.
THE STEERING IN VERY LOOSE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ALLOWING VEHICLE TO WANDER ALL OVER. VERY HARD TO KEEP IN TRAFFIC LANES. DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX SINCE NEW. LESS THAN 1500 MILES ON UNIT NOW. THE JEEP IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND ALL OTHER NEW JEEP WRANGLERS TESTED FEEL THE SAME WAY. ALL OLDER MODELS TESTED WERE A LOT TIGHTER AND EASIER TO CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
STEERING: VEHICLE WANDERS AND STEERING IS LOOSE IN EFFORTS TO CORRECT DIRECTION. ANGLE OF ROAD SURFACE SUCH AS CROWN SOMETIMES RESULTS IN UNEXPECTED DIRECTION CHANGE TOWARD ANOTHER LANE AND THE SLOP IN THE STEERING ITSELF MAKES IT CHALLENGING TO CORRECT WITHOUT OVER-CORRECTION. IN TRAFFIC THIS RESULTS IN INTENSE EFFORT TO MAINTAIN POSITION WHICH RESULTS IN INCREASED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FATIGUE OVER RELATIVELY LONG DRIVES. THE STEERING SEEMS INCONSISTENT AS IT VARIES FROM MINIMALLY PROBLEMATIC TO A WHITE-KNUCKLE DRIVING EXPERIENCE. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS DUE TO ROAD CONDITION VERSUS STEERING COMPONENT. DEALER HAS PERFORMED THE V41 STEERING DAMPER RECALL WHICH IMPROVED ONLY EXCESSIVE WHEEL SHUDDER WHEN DRIVING OVER ROAD IMPERFECTIONS AND DID NOTHING TO IMPROVE THE WANDERING/LOOSENESS. THEY ALSO DID ADJUST ALIGNMENT WHICH THEY SAID WAS OFF SLIGHTLY. NO NOTABLE IMPROVEMENT FROM THAT. I HAVE ADVISED DEALER THAT THE REPAIR EFFORT WAS NOT EFFECTIVE AND I WILL NOW HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK IN, BUT THEY TEND TO JUST PROVIDE THE ?IT?S A JEEP - THAT?S THE WAY THEY ARE? LINE. THE STEERING IN THE JEEP IS NOT TYPICAL AND I SEE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN FORUMS WHERE A SINGLE THREAD HAS HALF A MILLION VIEWS. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT HERE.

THE VEHICLE HAS LED HEADLIGHTS, DRIVING AT NIGHT DURING ANY TYPE OF SNOW, THE HEADLIGHTS BECOME COMPLETELY COVERED AND THEIR IS NO LIGHT COMING FROM THE HEADLIGHTS, FORCING ME TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND CLEAR THE SNOW REPEATEDLY. THIS IS DANGEROUS.
STEERING STIFFENS UP AT 50MPH AND UP.UNABLE TO SHIFT LANES,IT LOOSENS BACK SUDDENLY WHEN SPEEED DROPS TO 30 AND BELOW CAUSING CAR TO SWAY IF NOT PAYING ATTENTION
IN DECEMBER, ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, I EXPERIENCED WHAT I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT IS KNOWN AS THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' IN MY NEW WRANGLER JL. AFTER GOING OVER A SERIES OF SMALL BUMPS ON A HIGHWAY AT 65-70MPH, MY JEEP WENT INTO A VIOLENT SHAKING EPISODE. I ACTUALLY THOUGHT ONE OF THE WHEELS WAS COMING OFF. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THIS COULD BE REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE STABILIZER BAR WITH A HEAVIER DUTY ONE. THEY DID THE REPAIR. ON FRIDAY OF LAST WEEK, I HAD 6 EPISODES OF THE DEATH WOBBLE IN ONE DAY. THE DEALER IS TAKING MY JEEP BACK IN TOMORROW TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN. THIS MIGHT BE THE SCARIEST THING I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN MY 30+ YEARS OF DRIVING.
JEEP IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE. WE ARE AVID JEEP PEOPLE AND TIRE PRESSURE IS CORRECT. JEEP NEEDS CONSTANT STEERING INPUT TO BE DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR ANY STRAIGHT SMOOTH ROAD WITHOUT ANY OTHER FORCES ACTING AGAINST. SEEMS LIKE NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO YOU ARE ALWAYS CORRECTING TO TRY TO DRIVE DOWN THE RAOD STRAIGHT. THERE IS ABOUT 2" PLUS YOU CAN TURN THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH AND NOTHING HAPPENS ON THE ROAD OR WHEELS ACTUALLY TURNING AT ALL. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG BUT I DISAGREE WITH THIS. WE HAVE A 2016 WRANGLER LIFTED WITH BIG TIRES AND IT DRIVES STRAIGHT A'S AN ARROW JUST LIKE OUR BRAND NEW VOLVO. JEEP ONLY HAS 2800MI. !!
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WETHER ON STREET OR HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE TENDS TO WANDER FROM LANE TO LANE AND FROM MIDDLE OF THE STREET TO SHOULDER WITH ALOT OF IMPUT TO THE STEERING BACK AND FORTH . BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND I PAID FOR AN ALIGNMENT THAT SEEMED TO DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THE DEALERSHIP TEST DROVE IT AND SAID IT WAS NORMAL BUT I KNOW THIS NOT TO BE TRUE IT IS A SAFETY MATTER THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED OR IT WILL LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.
I RECEIVED THE RUBICON ON 12/8/19. LESS THAN 2K PAVEMENT MILES LATER, ON 1/7/19 I EXPERIENCED SEVERE INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURE. I LEFT WORK AT 6P, 40 DEGREES, NO PRECIPITATION. AFTER DRIVING 1/5 MILE, 10 MPH, I PULLED TO A STOP TO YIELD ON TO A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. AFTER STOPPING BRIEFLY, I PULLED ONTO THE HIGHWAY IN VERY DENSE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ONLY TO FIND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. I GOT TWO LANES OVER TO THE TURNING LANE AND PULLED TO A STOP AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I TURNED LEFT ONTO THE HIGHLY TRAVELED, EXTREMELY WINDY ROAD. A COUPLE HUNDRED FEET ONTO THAT ROAD, DRIVING 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING TURNED OFF AGAIN. I PULLED INTO A HOUSING DEVELOPMENT, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED SOME TIME, THEN BACK ON. I TRAVELED THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT AT 10 MPH AND THE POWER STEERING REMAINED ON. I TURNED BACK ON TO THE MAIN ROAD, A FEW MINUTES LATER THE POWER STEERING AGAIN TURNED OFF. THE POWER STEERING CONTINUED TO TURN OFF AND ON FOR THE NEXT HOUR OF DRIVING 5 MPH TO 50 MPH ON WINDY ROADS THAT WERE FILLED WITH BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. THE POWER STEERING TURNED OFF AND ON NO MATTER WHAT SPEED OR WHAT DIRECTION I WAS GOING. I GOT THE VEHICLE TO DIEHL DEALERSHIP THAT EVENING. IT IS NOW 11 DAYS LATER AND THEY HAVE STILL NOT PERFORMED ANY SERVICE ON MY VEHICLE. JEEP HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THE SITUATION TO MY KNOWLEDGE SO DIEHL SERVICE IS JUST GUESSING HOW TO FIX THIS LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. THE JEEP WAS LESS THAN ONE MONTH OLD WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I AM NOW PAYING FOR A 55K VEHICLE THAT I HAVEN'T HAD IN MY POSSESSION FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS.

THIS HAS TIGHTENED STEERING SOMEWHAT AND REDUCED THE AMPLITUDE OF DEATH WOBBLE BUT HAS NOT ELIMINATED IT. JEEP STILL WANDERS AND JUMPS ONTO ADJACENT LANES WHEN HITTING EXPANSION JOINT ON FREEWAY. DEALER SERVICE MANAGER REFUSES TO CONSIDER ALTERNATIVE FIXES THAT HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO HAVE POSITIVE RESULTS FOR OTHERS. WIND NOISE FROM A PILLAR AND FREEDOM TOP. DEALER NOTED BUT FAILED TO FIX INADEQUATE DEFROSTER CHANNELING RESULTS IN THE DEFROSTER ONLY CLEARING THE CENTER OF WINDSHIELD. DRIVER CANNOT SEE OUT OF WI SHIELD. DESIGN FLAW SINCE THIS IS ON ALL 2018 AND 2019 JL. DEALER REFUSES TO FIX FRAGILE WINDSHIELD GLASS. SERVICE MANAGER AGER REFUSES TO CONSIDER THIS AN ISSUE EVE. THOUGH 1000S HAVE LOST THEIR WINDSHIELD AND HAVE BROKEN NUMEROUS ONES IN SHORT ABOUT TS OF TIME TOO SHORT LOWER CONTROL ARMCOUNTRY OL ARMS IN NOT ENOUGH CASTER AND LACK OF A CASTER ADJUSTMENT RESULTS IN POOR STEERING. ALL ABOVE ITEMS OCCUR WHEN JEEP IS IN MOTION AND REPRESENTS TS A HAZARD ON THE ROAD. *DT
The far driver and passenger sides of the windshield do not defrost in sub freezing weather. The windshield defrost duct vents are not adequate to force hot air to either side of the center vent. This results in windshield and wiper icing over in temperatures below ~20° F causing drastically reduced visibility 12 or more inches from each side of the windshield. MY STEERING HAS A LOT OF PLAY AND IT MAKES IT HARD TO STAY BETWEEN THE LINE. I BROUGHT IT IN AND THE DEALER FOUND THE COMPUTER UPDATE IT NEEDED, WE LOWERED TIRE PRESSURE AND IT HELPED. I EVEN BOUGHT AN AFTER MARKET STEERING STABILIZER, BUT IT'S STILL NOT RIGHT.
