DEATH WOBBLE repeatedly while traveling on the highway at speeds above 60 MPH. Where is a terrain surface change, asphalt to bridge or and seam in the road cause a violent shaking of the front of the car. This has happened multiple times. I took the car to a car repair, there was no visual issues seen, but the repair people told me they no longer buy Jeeps as their personal vehocle because of the death wobble. They did not recommend a sway bar because in their experience it did not correct the issue.
I do believe the part that is failing on the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is the “Steering Dampner” and anyone at anytime is MORE than welcome to look at and inspect touched or feel it. This is SAFETY RISK has the entire vehicle starts to shake and wobble uncontrollably and without warning. If not for quick reflexes we would have been in a chain reaction crash. Was able to release gas and coast to under 50mph making lots of people behind me unhappy. The dealer said he repaired dampner when we had 4,000 miles, now again at 16,700 miles it’s back and we almost ended upside down in a river. Either Jeep or NHTSA must need people to die before they can make truly effective repairs or just remove this model form inventory. I believe it has to be more than just a dampner and the front suspension parts should all be looked at. There was ABSOLUTELY no warnings, lights, sounds, or indication that we were almost plunged to our death. Angels had to be riding with us. Let’s get this fixed!! PLEASE

My Jeep Wrangler 4xe underwent Safety Recall 68C, which included high-voltage battery replacement and associated electrical system work. The vehicle was held at the Jeep dealership for approximately one month for completion of this recall. After being notified that Recall 68C was completed, I picked up the vehicle. Immediately upon pickup, I experienced electrical issues that were not present prior to the recall. Specifically, the passenger-side power running board failed to retract. The service manager accessed the area under the dashboard and restored operation, stating it was likely related to the battery replacement or electrical work performed during the recall. Upon driving the vehicle, I also noticed the steering wheel was not centered when driving straight, and the front end appeared visually misaligned. Less than 24 hours after pickup, while driving at approximately 65 mph on the freeway, the vehicle experienced sudden and violent steering oscillation consistent with death wobble. This required me to immediately pull over for safety. The vehicle had no prior history of death wobble, steering instability, or electrical running board issues before Recall 68C was performed. Due to the severity of the condition, the vehicle was towed back to the Jeep dealership for further inspection.
Due to the track bar, steering damper and struts failing after less than 28k miles, the jeep is now exhibiting the previously investigated "Death wobble" causing a dangerous driving condition when exceeding 55mph. While driving, the vehicle began to shake so violently causing me to almost lose control and drive into oncoming traffic. The only way to stop the shaking was to have to stop suddenly on a 2 lane road and pull off on to a very dangerous shoulder. After taking the vehicle to the selling dealership, I was informed that although I am within the warranty limits for mileage I have passed the time frame for them to be able to cover the repair costs. The service advisor did agree that it is a known issue with Jeeps and that I was just "unlucky enough to get a bad jeep". There were no warning lights, symptoms or any other possible warnings prior to the first occurrence in June of 2025.
DEATH WOBBLE. While driving at freeway speeds hitting a road bump my Jeep went into a severe uncontrollable shaking wherein the entire car was moving sideways and in an up and down motion. i did some research online and found this condition to be a common Jeep Wrangler problem. i brought the car to the dealer and they said it is a known problem with the steering damper. In my research online, many believe the problem is the tie rod, drag link and ball joints are the cause and the steering damper just masks the symptoms until it wears out. i had a third party off road repair shop look at the suspension parts and they noted the drag link had play within the bushings and recommended it be replaced. Upon not visit to the dealer, i asked them to check it out and they said everything was fine except the steering damper was bad. I had the replace the steering damper. I am still getting a shaking vibration at freeway speeds while hitting a bump in the road. it is not as severe but it definitely shakes the steering wheel and the vehicle enough to be concerned that something is wrong with the suspension. If you search DEATH WOBBLE you will find the exact condition i am experiencing. Encountered the famous death wobble too often the last couple of weeks even at moderate speed of 45mph
Had to go in to repair a coolant leak, power train issue with the driveshaft and suspension.
The Vehicle shakes radically after going over a bump. After pulling over, the suspension normalizes.
The front end of the vehicle shakes uncontrollably at speeds of 45 mph or higher—issue is often referred to as “Death Wobble”. The vehicle currently has less than 9,000 miles and I have brought it into the dealer where the vehicle was purchased brand new in February of 2022. The dealer informed me that it is a common problem, but that the manufacturer allows each dealer service department to order only a couple of the replacement parts (steering damper) each month. The dealer service department avoided answering any of my concerns, such as, will it get worse, can I lose control of my vehicle, etc.
The Jeep when driving at above 50mph will hit a bump and the front tires and steering wheel starts shaking uncontrollably. Upon research I’ve found that this is called a “death wobble” on a Jeep. It has a history on Jeeps. This happened with under 5k miles on the Jeep with no changes to the vehicle to the tires or suspension which came with it from the factory. I took it back to the dealership in Ripon WI and they have indicated that this is common in Jeeps. They indicated the dealerships CFO’s wife had the same issue on her new Jeep recently. They have put a new steering dampener on order but it is on back order.
