TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER BOYFRIEND WAS DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY WERE INFORMED THAT SHARDS OF METAL WERE FOUND IN THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE FAILURE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CHANGED THE OIL HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE THREE RECALLS WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), 20V519000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), AND 20V100000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE CONTACT CONTACTED AN UNKNOWN DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
I WAS COMING OF THE FREEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR JUST TURNED ITSELF OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MANAGE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE QUICKLY ENOUGH TO AVOID ANY COLLISION. I TRIED TO CHANGE THE STARTER BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT WAS BAD. IT HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO START UP AGAIN SINCE IT FIRST STOPPED ON ME.
I WAS SITTING IN MY CAR AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD,THE FIRE DEPARTMENT THINKS IT WAS SOMETHING ELECTRICAL. IT WAS IN PARK WHILE I WAS DROPPING SOMEONE OFF WHO WAS GETTING OUT OF MY CAR
A year ago, the paint started falling off of the roof rails on my 2013 Kia Optima. It is continuing to peel away. The color I have is Snow White Pearl. I have contacted my dealership and have been told that there is only a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty on the paint and since I am outside of those parameters, there is nothing they can do for me. I have also taken it to a body shop to find out about repainting the areas and get an estimate for having the work done.

ADDITIONALLY, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE KNOCK SENSOR THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,000.
2 DAYS AGO I LEFT WORK AND MY ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING. I DIDN'T MAKE IT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS BEFORE THIS. I HAVEN'T NOTICED ANY OTHER NOISE AND NO WARNING LIGHTS.
THERE IS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHEN PLACED IN GEAR, THE KNOCK IS NOT HEARD WHILE IN PARK. BECAUSE NO SENSOR HAS GONE OFF, THE REPAIR TECH SAID THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN DO. I DO HAVE A THE MOTOR THAT WAS RECALLED, AND IT WAS REPLACED
CAR HAS A BAD GAS FUME SMELL THAT COMES THROUGH THE VENT WHEN DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON MOTOR HAS A LOUD TAPPING NOISE AND BURNS GAS QUICK

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO KIA OF CERRITOS (18201 STUDEBAKER RD, CERRITOS, CA 90703; (562) 860-2424) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CASE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,125.
THREE TIMES- TODAY 10/18/2020 MY CAR IS NOT LEAKING OIL BUT BURNING OIL. DANGEROUSLY LOW I HAVE TO KEEP CHECKING. NO OIL ON THE GROUND. I SMELL OR A LIGHT TO SERVICE OIL COMES ON. FIRST TIME 6/10/2020 - 2ND TIME 10/1/2020 TODAY 10/18/2020 THERE IS STILL OIL BUT VERY LOW, 2QTS WERE PUT IN ON 10/1/2020 . THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL. I HAVE NEW SPARK PLUGS MAYBE LESS THAN A YEAR.

I HAVE A LETTER NOTIFICATION DATED APRIL 24 2017 NO RECALL#. PLUS RECALL 18V363000 AIR BAG CONTROL UNIT THAT SHOULD APPLY BUT NEVER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE. RECALL#17V224 ENGINE STALL/FREEZE ISSUE I HAVE RECALL NOTIFICE PLUS A NOTICE FROM THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE CENTRAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA ABT SPECIFIC RECALL THAT DOES EFFECT CAR. I MADE 2 ATTEMPTS AT KIA KIRBY VENTURA LAST YEAR, BEFORE COVID19, TO GET ENGINE RECALL FIXED CAR WAS EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED ALMOST CASUED SERIOUS ACCIDENTS ON FREEWAY. I WAS DENIED BY SERVICE MANAGER DAVID BODJANAC SINCE DEALERSHIP, DURING 2ND VISIT TO HAVE ENGINE RECALL FIXED, KIA KIRBY VENTURA REMOVED RECALL FROM VIN# ASKED ME WHERE DID I GET RECALL NOTICE FROM? ENGINE ISSUE NOT FIXED. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY, THURS 10/15/20 EARLY EVENING IM COMING UP TO CORNER ENGINE STALLED TWICE AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN APPROCHING, TURNING. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING AT SLOWER RATE OF SPEED. COMING OUT OF TURN CAR ULTIMATLY MADE INTO MY PARKING LOT W/OUT CRASHING LUCKILY NO ONE WAS OUT WALKING. ENGINE CAR FROZE. LUCKILY IN FRONT OF PARKING SPACE, MANAGED TO FORCE CAR IN PARKING SPOT. NOW DISPUTING W/KIA KIRBY VENTURA, SM DAVID BODJANAC, WHO DENIED ENGINE RECALL OR ANY RECALL. KIA KIRBY VENTURA SERVICE W/UNDOUBTEDLY TELL ME ISSUE W/CAR HAS NOTHING TO DO W/ANY RECALLS. HAD I BEEN ON FWY WHICH I DRIVE ON 2, 3 TIMES A DAY OR BEEN DRIVING AT HIGHER RATE OF SPEED ON STREET AS I WAS I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. KIRBY KIA VENTURA SAID THEY W/GIVE 0 FOR CAR NOT RUNNING DUE TO RECALL BUT STILL IN GOOD CONDITION FULLY LOADED. IF CAR RUNNING THEY MITE GIVE ME $5500-$6000MAX..PER KB NOT RUNNING CARS VALUE $6923- $8852 IN FAIR CONDITION /MECHANICAL ISSUES & $7851-$9790 IN GOOD CONDITION.
EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE ENGINE USES 1 FULL QUART OF OIL EACH 500 MILES. IT IS A POLLUTION ISSUE AS WELL AS AN ENGINE ISSUES. CAR ONLY HAS 113,000 MILES. I CALLED KIA AND THE DEALER REPAIR DEPT. SAID THE RECALLS FOR ENGINE FAILURE ONLY COVERS BEARING WEAR AND NOT EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. PLEASE HELP ME.
I HAD BEEN HOME FROM WORK FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, GOT IN MY CAR TO GO RUN SOME ERRANDS, STARTED IT, AND IT HAD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT IT OFF AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY.
Paint on car is chipping away little by little . Has been ongoing for a while now & rust spots are starting to pop up around the car . I’ve had the car detailed waxed and sealed and still continues to get worse. Was told by a body shop that the paint was not done right from the beginning
CAR SMELLS LIKE IT IS CONSTANTLY LEAKING OIL. THE SMELL IS VERY NOTICEABLE. I WILL BE TAKING IT IN ON 1/8/2021
I have a 2013 Kia Optima sxl, in the paint color Snow White pearl. The paint is defective. It’s delaminating and peeling all over the car. The hood, rear doors, the pillars along the windshield. The trunk is completely covered in bubbles and is peeling too.

UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT THE HORN HAD POPPED OUT OF PLACE AND WAS RAISED INSIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH MADE THE HORN DEFECTIVE. DESPITE THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED SOUTH SHORE KIA (1128 SUNRISE HWY, COPIAGUE, NY 11726) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE STREET WHEN I BEGAN TO SEE WHITE SMOKE CLOUDS COMING FROM MY EXHAUST. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR HOME, WAS NEARLY HIT ON THE WAY HOME (LOW POWER TO VEHICLE) AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT KIA. I HAD APPROXIMATELY 120000 MILES ON THE CAR. HAD ENGINE AND TURBO CHARGER REPLACED AT 74000 MILES. TOOK CAR TO KIA CLAIMS THE TURBO CHARGER IS OUT AGAIN. THIS YEAR HAS A LOT OF PROBLEMS AS IT IS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND KIA...
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD DOING ABOUT 45 WHEN I HEARD A SMALL POP & ALL MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON & I LOST EVERYTHING. CAR CLICKS WHEN TRYING TO RESTART BUT DOES NOT START. OIL LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, EPS LIGHT & CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAY ON NOW. I WAS TOLD THERE IS A RECALL ON THESE CARS AND WOULD LIKE TO GET IT FIXED ASAP AS IT'S MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION.

I WAS DRIVING AND ALL LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE CAR THEN IT STOP DRIVING, AT FIRST I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE STARTER BUT THEN WAS TOLD THE ENGINE WAS THE PROBLEM DUE TO THE STARTER NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM.
WE WERE TRAVELING AT AROUND 55-60 MILES AN HOUR AND WERE T-BONES BY A CHEVY AVALANCHE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND MY HUSBAND SWERVED SO THE TRUCK LUCKILY STARTED AT MY DOOR AND COMPLETELY RIPPED AND SMASHED IN THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR AND BACK/ TRUNK OF OUR OPTIMA. BACK WHEEL IS COMPLETELY TURNED OUT. HIT SO HARD IT COMPLETELY TURNED US IN 2 CIRCLES AND BUSTED MY FRONT LICENSE PLATE AND IT HIT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I BUSTED MY HEAD OPEN AND RECEIVED 3 STAPLES AND KNEE SHOVED IN DASH BUT NOT 1 AIR BAG IN THIS VEHICLE DEPLOYED!! I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A KIA!! I WILL NO LONGER PURCHASE A KIA BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL SAFE!!
I STOPPED IN A PARKING SPACE AND SHIFTED INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. WHEN I STEPPED OUT OF THE CAR IT STARTED ROLLING. I JUMPED BACK ON THE CAR AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKE. THE LEVER WAS IN PARK BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN DRIVE OR NEUTRAL. I COULD HAVE BEEN RUN OVER. THE LINKAGE THAT CONNECTS THE SHIFT LEVER TO THE TRANSMISSION BROKE. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 64,000 MILES ON IT. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS IF A CHILD WAS BEHIND THE PARKED CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE KIA DEALER. THE PART WAS LESS THAN A DOLLAR BUT THE LABOR WAS ALMOST $300.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
THE PEARL WHITE PAINT BEGAN PEELING OFF IN LARGE SHEETS AND IS NOT RELATED TO A ROCK CHIP.

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR AND DIAGNOSTIC FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE STARTED LOSING MOTIVE POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY ACTIVATED THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE RESUMING NORMAL DRIVING. THE CONTACT CALLED MORITZ KIA HURST (110 NE LOOP 820, HURST, TX 76053) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,592.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING A LONG DISTANCE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN ON ITS OWN AS ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS FLICKERED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE SAW SMOKE AND FIRE THROUGH THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED IT WAS DIFFICULT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE SINCE ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS FAILED. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS QUICKLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A POLICE OR FIRE REPORT FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INFORMED THE CONTACT THERE WAS A ELECTRICAL FAILURE WITHIN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET AND CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DECLARED TOTALED BY HIS INSURANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,800.
THE MOTORS ON ALL MY WINDOWS WENT OUT AND MY STEERING WHEEL WHEEL SHAKES AND RATTLES REALLY BAD, IT'S CONCERNING

THE DRIVER STATED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED HE ARRIVED AND PUSHED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
CAR SMELLED LIKE GAS WHEN AIR WAS ON AND EVEN WITH AIR OFF. FIXED MARCH 2019 AND I BELIEVE I SEE A RECALL FOR IT NOW. WE PAID A PRETTY PENNY TO GET FIXED. MY PAINT ON MY CAR IS COMING OFF EVERYWHERE LIKE BAD NAIL POLISH. IT IS PEELING OFF AND CONTINUES TO HAPPEN IN NEW PARTS OF THE CAR. I'M TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED NOW WITH KIA. THIS STARTED HAPPENING AROUND WINDSHIELD FIRST ABOUT A YEAR AND HALF AGO AND THEN THE TRUNK LAST FALL AND NOW MY DOOR AND OTHER AREAS IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS.
9/5/2020 ROUGHLY 10:00 AM ENTERING THE ONRAMP TO GET ON I10 WEST. CAR LOST ACCELERATION, NEVER REACHED 40 MPH, THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE, TOOK FOOT OFF GAS, ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, CAR LOST ALL POWER AND TURNED OFF. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO RIGHT SHOULDER AND PARK VEHICLE. CAR WAS TOWED TO MY HOME. I CALLED ALL STAR KIA IN SAN BERNADINO CA, UNABLE TO ASSESS VEHICLE FOR 7 - 10 DAYS. CALLED PALM SPRINGS KIA MULTIPLE TIMES ON EXTENDED HOLD. WHEN WE CONNECTED, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE WOULDNT BE LOOKED AT UNTIL 9/18/2020.
MY BRAKES ON MY 2013 KIA OPTIMA HAVE A DEFECT WHEN TURN ON CAR THE SWITCH GEAR CHANGES TO P R D AND ANY GEAR WITHOUT ME PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO PUT THE SWITCH GEAR IN PLACE AND IT SMELLS LIKE A GASOLINE SMELL WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S A BRAKE FLUID LEAK ARE WHAT BUT I WAS JUST NOTIFIED THAT ON CONSUMERS AFFAIRS KIA HAS A RECALL ON YEAR 2013 TO 2015 KIA CARS AND HYUNDAI CARS. SOME CARS HAVE BEEN CATCHING ON FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THEY ALSO SAID THE ISSUE MIGHT BE WITH A COUPLING PIN IN THE STEERING SYSTEM. THE DEALER KIA OF HUNTINGTON (1720 E. JERICHO TURNPIKE, HUNTINGTON STATION, NY 11743, (631) 546-0200) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

FLEXIBLE STEERING COUPLING FAILED. POORLY DESIGNED RUBBER COUPLING DISINTEGRATES AT LESS THAN 80K MILES. THIS CREATES ONE INCH OR MORE OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND MAKES A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE.

SO LOOKED UP RECALLS FOR KIA 2013 AND I SEE AIR BAG DEFAULT AND I CALLED KIA AND WAS TOLD EVEN THAT WAS A PROBLEM FOR SOME KIA 2013 MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE OF MY VIN. I WENT BACK TO MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT IT WAS AN AIR BAG ISSUE WITH KIA AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE IT IS SAME ISSUE THEY RECALLED KIA OPTIMA 2013 REGARDLESS OF VIN IT IS WITHIN THE YEAR OF RECALL.

THE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON IT WOULD ALSO CLICK BUT NOT TURN OVER. WE TRIED JUMPING THE CAR THAT WORKED FOR A WHILE BUT NOW THE NO START IS STARING TO BE CONSISTENT.
