THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO QUATRO MOTORS (24820 PLYMOUTH ROAD, REDFORD MI, 48239, 313-794-9494) FROM WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO GLASS MAN KIA (28000 TELEGRAPH RD, SOUTHFIELD, MI 48034, (855) 237-2819) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
I HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED AROUND 85000 MILES, AT DEALER WITH RECALL. NOW AT 140000 THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A BAD GRINDING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AND SLOWING DOWN, NOISE STARTS ABOUT 15 MPH ALL THE WAY TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, THE SOUND GOES AWAY. AS I PUT CAR BACK IN DRIVE THE GRINDING NOISE REAPPEARS. THE NOISE DOES NOT CHANGE WHILE GEAR CHANGES, ONLY WHEN PUT IN NEUTRAL.
THE CARS ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR OVER A YEAR. THE ENGINE IS CONSTANTLY BURNING OIL EVEN THOUGH OIL CHANGES ARE DONE EVERY 2000 TO 3000 MILES. THE VEHICLE ENGINE SOUNDS LOUDER EVERY MONTH. THE CAR PASSED TWO RECALL TESTS AT A KIA DEALERSHIP, ONE FOR WHICH I PAID OUT OF POCKET. I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL BY MY MECHINIC AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON MY CAR. THE KIA DEALERSHIP CANNOT EXPLAIN TO ME WHY MY CAR IS PASSING THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT'S OBVIOUS THE CAR HAS HAD AN ENGINE PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THERE IS A DISTINCTIVE KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND YOU CAN HEAR THE ENGINE HICCUP WHILE THE CAR IS TURNED ON, AS IF WERE ABOUT TO BRAKE DOWN.
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE HWY WHEN ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING OF ANY KIND. VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT , IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 7 TIMES AND PER SOUTHWEST KIA THE ENTIRE KIT WOULD HAVE TO BE CHANGED. AND IT'S ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT HAS THE ISSUE. THE DATE REFLECTS THE MOST RECENT TIME IT'S HAPPENED

SMOKE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER LIFTING THE HOOD FLAMES WERE PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. DURING THE INCIDENT THE A VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A FIRE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HIS 3 CHILDREN WERE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED ASSISTANCE WITH A RENTAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
PASSENGER HEADLIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT.
DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY ON A SUNDAY EVENING ON MAY 19, 2019 IN OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA, MY SUNROOF (SPECIFICALLY, THE MIDDLE PANEL OF THE THREE GLASS ROOF PANELS ON THE KIA OPTIMA SX 2013) SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING CRACKED, LETTING OFF AN EAR-PIERCING POP. I DROVE TO A SAFE PLACE WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON, HEARING PIECES OF GLASS FALL OFF OF MY CAR INTO THE LANE BEHIND ME. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, AND FORTUNATELY, THE FABRIC SUN SHADE UNDERNEATH WAS CLOSED, SO I WAS SPARED FROM THE SHOWER OF GLASS AND INJURY OTHER CAR OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED DURING THIS EXPLOSION OF GLASS. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT AND NO DEBRIS, AND I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A SMOOTHLY PAVED ROAD. WHEN I INSPECTED THE SUNROOF, THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE IN THE CENTER OF THE GLASS PANEL AND THE BROKEN GLASS AROUND THE HOLE WAS POINTING UPWARD INTO THE SKY. THE ENTIRE GLASS PANEL WAS SHATTERED BUT STILL IN PLACE. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS OR A ROCK INSIDE THE SUN SHADE UNDERNEATH THAT COULD EXPLAIN THE HOLE. IT WAS ALTOGETHER EERIE AND VERY FRIGHTENING AND TRAUMATIZING, AND I WAS GRATEFUL I WASN'T KILLED BY ANY POTENTIAL ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THIS UNSAFE SUNROOF EXPLOSION. I AM IN PROCESS OF GETTING IT REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR USED, AND I HAVE MADE A CLAIM WITH BOTH MY CAR INSURANCE COMPANY (GEICO, WHO HAS NOT BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN ACKNOWLEDGING THIS AS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT), AND WITH KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS. KIA ALSO HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A DEFECT, AND NONE OF THE KIA DEALERSHIP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES OR MANAGERS I'VE SPOKEN WITH (SIX OF THEM) HAVE HEARD OF THIS BEFORE.
CAR STOPPED WHILE PROCEEDING THROUGH A TOLL. TRIED GETTING A JUMP TO START IT. MOTOR WOULD NOT TURN OVER .STARTER HAD A STEEL EVERY TIME TRYING TO START IT.
MY CAR HAS BEEN MAKING A VERY LOUD CLICKING SOUND IN THE STEERING. I ALSO HAVE A HARD TIME STEERING AS IT PULLS AND IT SHAKES AND WILL STEERING.. IT VERY SCARY AND IT FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO LOCK UP AT TIMES. THE CAR ONLY HAS 23,000 MILES ON IT.. GARAGE KEPT.
A RECALL WAS ISSUED TO ME BY KIA IN 2017 WHEN WE HAD THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE TOTALLY REPLACED. ON MAY 16, 2019 MY SON WAS DRIVING WHEN PASSERBY'S WERE HONKING AND FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS AT HIM. HE NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE, WHEN HE LOST STEERING, AND BREAKS. HE JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR WHILE MOVING AND THEN THE CAR EXPLODED, A TOTAL OF 3 SEPARATE TIMES BEFORE FIRE AND EMERGENCY PERSONNEL ARRIVED ON SCENE. FIRE REPORT AND INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AT EVERGREEN KIA (LOCATED AT 9205 S WESTERN AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60643, (800) 211-3116). THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENGINE IN JANUARY OF 2019. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE IGNITION, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AS SMOKE APPEARED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE HOOD, AND SAW FLAMES. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V907000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, ENGINE). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BERWYN KIA (LOCATED AT 7050 OGDEN AVE, BERWYN, IL 60402, (708) 797-0300) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE STARTER AND STARTER SYSTEM REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CLASSIC KIA CARROLLTON (2920 N INTERSTATE 35E, CARROLLTON, TX 75007, (866) 559-8140) TO BE REPAIRED PER UNKNOWN RECALLS REGARDING THE ENGINE AND AIR BAGS. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 85 DAYS, BUT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SRS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $854. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE DEALER WAS DISHONEST AND DID NOT TELL HER ABOUT THE SRS MODULE AT THE TIME OF THE INITIAL REPAIR. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THE SRS MODULE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AIR BAG RECALL. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE DEALER AND FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF PEOPLE BRINGING THEIR VEHICLES IN FOR RECALL REPAIRS AND EXPERIENCED OTHER ISSUES AFTERWARDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND AGREED WITH THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,372.
TAKATA RECALL ENGINE OIL IS BURNING AWAY AND THE REPLACEMENT OF OIL IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. USED TWO QUARTS IN LAST 7 DAYS

AFTER HAVING WORK DONE ON THE LAST RECALL, I NOTICED THERE IS A RATTLING NEAR THE STEERING WHEEL ON EVERY BUMP IN THE ROAD I HIT. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND THE RATTLING HAS SINCE THEN GOTTEN LOUDER AND WORSE. I FEAR THERE IS SOMETHING LOOSE EITHER WITHIN THE STEERING WHEEL AND COMPONENTS OR THE BARS UNDERNEATH. I CANNOT SEEM TO FIND EXACTLY WHAT IT IS BUT ITS ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR. IT IS ONLY HAPPENING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
WHILE ON THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE FROZE UP AND LOCKED. WE SMELT A STRONG BURN ODOR. MECHANIC CHECKED FUSES AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS WIRING OR POSSIBLY THE MOTOR BUT TURNS OUT THE STARTER WENT BAD. THE BURN SMELL CAME FROM THE COIL WIRE ON THE STARTER.
MY CAR ENGINE SHUT DOWN AFTER MAKING A LEFT TURN, WHICH I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY TRAFFIC TURNING RIGHT FROM A FASTER STREET. I HAD TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK TO RESTART THE ENGINE AFTER A COUPLE TRIES. I NOTICED MY ENGINE LIGHT AND OTHER LIGHTS ON DASH TURNED RED. AFTER A COUPLE TRIES THE ENGINE STARTED AND I SEEN MY OIL LIGHT ALSO SO I THOUGHT MAYBE MY OIL WAS BAD SO I WENT AND HAD AN OIL CHANGE DONE AND AFTER GETTING THAT COMPLETED WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY ENGINE HAS THIS KNOCKING NOISE NOW AND IT SEEMED TO GET WORSE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT SHOWED THAT THE OVERHEAD CAM SENSOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE LIGHT. BUT AFTER CHANGING THE OIL THE LIGHT WENT OUT. TECHNICIAN STATED THE CAR WAS A QUART LOW BEFORE THE OIL WAS CHANGED OUT. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE I USED THE BEST OIL AND CHANGED MY OIL ON A REGULAR BASIS AND HAVE RECORDS TO SHOW IF NEEDED.
WHILE DRIVING, MY DASHBOARD LIT UP AND MY CAR SHUT OFF. WHILE I'M TRAFFIC. I WAS GOING ABOUT 55MPH. I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE OR BREAK. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A NEAR BY PARKING LOT WHERE IT PARKED MY CAR. FROM THERE I TRIED TO RESTART MY CAR, BUT IT NEVER CAME BACK ON.I ATTEMPTED TO TURN IT ON, BUT ALL I HEARD WAS A CLICKING SOUND. IT'S NOT MY BATTERY AS I HAD IT CHECKED NOR DID ANY CODES COME UP ON MY COMPUTER WHEN I HOOKED MY CAR UP. HAD IT TOWED TOWED HOME AND HAVING A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT IN THE MORNING
WHILE DRIVING DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND OFF.. LOST ACCELERATION POWER. ITERMITTEN POWER. CAME TO A STOPLIGHT LOST ACCELERATION TRIED TO PRESS GAS TO ACCELERATE AND SOUNED LIKE POTS AND PANS BANGING WHILE ACCELERATION HEAR A LOUD BANG AND SHATTERING METAL. MMANAGED TO PULL OVER ON HIGHWAY ..OPENED HOOD AND SAW OIL SUBSTANCE ALL OVER ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND AROUND FIREWALL. PARTS WERE RECOVERED. TOWED. KIA SHOP NOTIFIED AS IT WAS SERVICE FOR THE WARRANTY SHARDS BACK IN OCTOBER OF 2017 AND CLAIMED NO ISSUES. OIL WAS CHANGED.
WAITING ON A RED LIGHT, THE KIA OPTIMA STALLED AND THEN SMOKE STARTED COMING INTO THE CABIN. WITHIN SECONDS THE FRONT OF THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE AND MY WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN HAD A VERY LIMITED TIME TO GET OUT FROM THE BURNING CAR INTO SAFETY. THE BURNING CAR WAS EVENTUALLY EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. LOCAL POLICE CORDONED OFF THE LANE TO PROVIDE SAFETY FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHERS MOTORISTS ON THE ROAD. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND THE TIME OF THE FIRE WAS AROUND 12:30PM.
ENGINE NOISE, SOUND LIKE SOMETHING LOSE INSIDE. WHILE RUNNING STATIONARY AND MOVING, HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SINCE NOISE STARTED 3 MONTHS AGO. NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. READ ABOUT RECALL JUST LAST WEEK.
GAS GOT INTO MY ENGINE. CAR KEEP LOSING OIL. SEEMED TO AFFECT A LOT OF OTHER AREAS

I WAS DRIVING THAN SUDDENLY ALL MY LIGHTS CAME ACROSS MY DASHBOARD.THSN MY CAR CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN SO I PULLED OVER!THANK IT CUT OFF
OIL IS COMPLETELY EMPTY BEFORE 1000 MILES AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. HAVE SWITCHED TO SYNTHETIC OIL AND USED ADDITIVES. NOTHING HAS HELPED AND I AM ADDING AT LEAST 6-8 QUARTS FOR 3000 MILES. ALSO THE HEADLIGHTS ARE HORRIBLE. I CAN NOT SEE 10 FEET PASS MY FRONT END AT NIGHT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND NEW BULBS DO NOT HELP. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, BUT KIA COULD CARE LESS. NOT ONLY CAN I NOT SEE BUT I'M DRIVING A DEATH TRAP THAT WILL MOST LIKELY CATCH FIRE LIKE THOUSANDS OF THE 2013 HAVE ALREADY. HOW DO THESE CAR COMPANIES GET AWAY WITH THIS?
I WAS DRIVING FROM WOBURN MA ON NEW BOSTON ROAD HEADED TO WILMINGTON MA AND MY CAR SEEMED TO SHUT DOWN I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER OFF THE STREET NEXT TO A CURB LOCATION 147 NEW BOSTON RD. I TRIED TO START MY CAR PRESSING THE PUSH BUTTON START ONLY LIGHTS CAME ON ON THE OIL HAS ENGINE BATTERY... WHILE STILL SITTING IN THE CAR I WAS TRYING TO MAKE SOME CALLS I SMELLED A BURNING SMELL I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THE SMOKE INCREASED RAPIDLY I EXITED THE CAR CALLED 911. WHILE WAITING FOR HELP TO ARRIVE I GRABBED SOME ITEMS FROM THE GLOVE BOX AND BACK SEAT THE FRONT OF THE CAR AT THAT POINT FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD THE FLAMES ESCALATED TO POP THE HOOD A LARGE FIRE HAD IGNIGHTED FROM THE ENGINE AREA THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FIRE. A TOW TRUCK TOWED THE CAR AWAY.

THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED BRIEFLY AND THEN TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE UP TO 20 MPH BEFORE THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE AND MULTIPLE UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NALLEY KIA (LOCATED AT 7849 MALL PKWY, LITHONIA, GA 30038, (678) 374-3820), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PEP BOYS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WAS DRIVING DROWN THE ROAD OUT OF MY SUBDIVISION. ENGINE JUST SHUT DOWN AND WOULDN'T START. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND JUST SHUT OFF. I AM BLESSED THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY.
The reflectors on the low beam headlights have degraded to the point it has failed Virginia state inspection. The safety of myself and others is impacted by reduced nighttime visibility. Distance of vision at night is reduced to only as much distance as the parking lights provide. The dealer has inspected and rejected the vehicle from passing Virginia State inspection and is now not lawfully allowed to be driven. There were no warning lamps to indicate a failure.

I RECENTLY REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT IT KEEPS READING MY KEY IS NOT IN VEHICLE WHICH MY KEY WILL BE INSIDE THE CAR, I'LL HAVE TO PUT MY KEY IN THE COMPARTMENT IN GLOVE BOX, IT USE TO WORK BUT AFTER EVERYTHING SHUTDOWN YESTERDAY IT WON'T START AT ALL.
TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER (NOV16 60523 MILES) BECAUSE THE STEERING HAD A STICKING ISSUE WHILE DRIVING. A TSB WAS PERFORMED AND IT DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE UPPER STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD BE A 50/50 COST AS IT WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. ON 18 MAR 2019 WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE UPPER STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN DUE TO STICKING. IT WAS JUST OVER 2 YEARS AND 13677 MILES AGAIN THEY TOLD US IT WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THESE ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS GOING OUT AS IT CONTROLS THE STEERING OF THE CAR AND AS WE CAN TELL YOU HAS CAUSED SOME OVER STEERING WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS AND ADDITIONAL PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND TO THE STEERING INPUT
MY CAR RANDOMLY CAUGHT FIRE AT 10:30 PM WHILE IT WAS ALREADY SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY SINCE 7 PM. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CAR IS NOW MELTED ON MY DRIVEWAY PAVEMENT. PUTTING MY FAMILY AND MY HOUSE AT DANGER.
BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF AFTER I TURN OFF MY CAR. SOMETIMES THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND BACK LIGHTS POPS ON EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE SLIPPERY WHEN WET LIGHT STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES. WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR AND I HAVE TO USE THE BRAKES TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE CAR MOVES VERY SLOWING AND STALLS. SOMETIMES WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR LOOSES POWER. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE TWICE AND THE CAR JUST LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. THIS WAS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. NOW THE CAR HAS NO POWER.
WHILE DRIVING OFF THE INTERSTATE THE KIA OPTIMA STARTED TO SMOKE AND WHEN PULLED OVER FLAMES STARTED TO COME FROM THE HOOD(CAR STILL ONE). THE FLAMES ONLY GOT BIGGER AND EVENTUALLY TOTALED THE VEHICLE .
ON MARCH 7, 2019, MY 2013 KIA OPTIMA CAUGHT FIRE WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING. SHE PARKED THE CAR IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT AND REALIZED THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. THANK GOD SHE IS PHYSICALLY OKAY, AND NO ONE ELSE WAS INJURED. MY CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS, ANOTHER CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS, AND A THIRD CAR WAS DAMAGED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS NO FAULT OF THE MOTORIST, RATHER PRODUCT MALFUNCTION. ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME.
I WAS DRIVING AROUND 45 MILES AND HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING, SAFELY STOP AND DO NOT DRIVE. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 MORE TIMES ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER TOLD ME TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. THE SIGN CAME BACK UP AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TRAVEL SAFELY IN A LANE BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL CONSTANTLY NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED IT VEERS FROM LEFT TO RIGHT THE STEERING FEELS LIKE IT HAS A FLAT SPOT IN STEERING THAT WON'T STAY STRAIGHT
MY CAR HAVE BEEN READING MECHANISM ERROR ON THE RADIO FOR 6 MONTHS. RECENTLY MY LIGHTBULB WENT OUT THEN THE OTHER,, I DIDN'T HAVE 100 A PIECE SO I USED HIGH BEAM NOW ONE OF THOSE OUT. MY BACKSEAT INTERIOR LIGHT OUT WHICH ALL IS FINE I'M ASSUMING JUS NEED REPLACEMENT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN I SAW SMOKE THEN A LOUD POP MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP,, BRAKES IN ALL I BARELY MADE IT OFF THE ROAD THE WHEEL WAS SO TIGHT. I GET OUT TO A EXPLODED TIRE TORE UP BUMPER AND FENDER. EPS ENGINE LIGHT ALONG WITH A FEW OTHERS ARE ON. I GET MY CAR TOWED GET THE CRACKED RIMMED FIXED AND PROCEEDING TO FIX BUMPER AND FENDER BECAUSE I NATURALLY ASSUMED BAD TIRES. TODAY I'M DRIVING AGAIN I SUDDENLY SEE SMOKE THEN THE ENTIRE CAR SHUTS DOWN. I'VE TRIED A BOOST EVERYTHING CAME ON EXCEPT THE ENGINE. I TRIED PUTTING THE KEY IN THE SIDE COMPARTMENT STILL NOTHING. ALL LIGHTS ARE ON,, ON THE DASHBOARD ENGINE TIRE PRESSURE ETC. I REALLY CAN'T SAY WHAT'S THE PROBLEM BUT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. I'M LOSING MONEY AND MY CAR. I'M WITHOUT A CAR AS OF NOW.!
DASHBOARD AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING CAR. KIA DEALER INSPECTED CAR AND ADVISED DRIVER'S-SIDE FRONTAL AIRBAG IS NONFUNCTIONAL UNTIL CLOCKSPRING IS REPLACED. DEALER DID NOT HAVE PART AVAILABLE. MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
ENGINE RECALL. DEALERSHIP FIRST RECEIVED VEHICLE REPAIR MARCH 4, 2019 FOR COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE TO RECALL AND CAR BECOME COMPLETELY IMMOBILE WHILE ON FREEWAYS. AND TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME FIRST ENGINE FAILED AND REORDERED A NEW ENGINE. RECEIVED VEHICLE BACK FROM 2ND ATTEMPT OF ENGINE REPAIR MAY 16, 2019. VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED MAY 31,2019. RETURNED VHEICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP. REPAIR TO HARNESS AND NOC SENSOR. RECEIVED VEHICLE BACK FOR REPAIR JUNE 8TH. ON JUNE 10TH VEHICLE BECAME IMMOBILE AGAIN WHILE DRIVING OUT OF PARKING LOT AND TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. WAITING ON DEALERSHIP FOR DETAILS OF CAR PROBLEMS.
EVERY TIME HI TURN THE CAR LEFT OR RIGHT IT MAKES A SEVERE CLUNKING SOUND NOW VIBRATES GOING DOWN THE ROAD MY MOTHER'S CAR SAME TYPE DOES THE SAME THING.
WAS DRIVING ON I45 IN PFLUGERVILLE DOING A U TURN TO GO WEST BOUND. HEARD A LOUD BAND LIKE SOMETHING "FELL OUT" OF THE CAR. PULLED OVER AND THE CAR STARTED TO SHOOT SPARKS AND FLAMES. I WAS WITH MY LITTLE BROTHER AN SOME FRIENDS SO WE ALL JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR. MY MOM PICKED US ALL UP AND TXDOT STAYED WITH THE CAR WHILE MY MOM GOT A TOW TRUCK. MY MOM CALL INSURANCE AND HAD THE CAR TO HER MECHANIC AND WHEN THEY STARTED IT UP IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO SHOOT FLAMES AND SPARKS. THEY FOUND A HOLD IN THE ENGINE. THE MECHANIC INSPECTED IT AND HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT ON A 60K MILE CAR. KIA HAS SO MANY RECALLS AND THIS CAR MAKE MODEL AND YEAR WAS IN THE RECALL ABUT NOT THE VIN NUMBER. SOUTHWEST KIA IN AUSTIN TOOK FOREVER TO "INVESTIGATE." THEY ARE NOW TRYING TO SAY THAT IT'S NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS BUT RATHER JIFFY LUBE LEFT A RAG IN CAR THAT GOT SUCKED THROUGH THE DIPSTICKS AND WRAPPED AROUND THE CRANK SHANK. I HAD DRIVEN FROM TEXAS TO ARIZONA TO COLORADO AND BACK TO TEXAS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THIS RAG FROM PRIOR MECHANICS THAT LOOKED AT IT BEFORE KIA DID THEIR INVESTIGATION. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THIS IS A FAULTY ISSUE WITH KIA AND THEY ARE TRYING TO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ENGINE CATCHING FIRE. THEY ARE RECALLING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CARS FOR ENGINE FIRES. WHEN DEALING WITH KIA NOW THEY ARE HOSTILE AND CALL IT AN "ALLEGED FIRE." THEY ARE NOW SAYING AN ADJUSTER NEEDS TO LOOK AT IT BUT THAT WAS OVER A WEEK AGO. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THE CASE MANGER FOR RECALLS IS ON VACATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA OPTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE HORN FAILED TO SOUND. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. ALSO, SINCE THE AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED THE FOLLOWING NO LONGER WORKS: HORN, CRUISE CONTROL, ECO, RESET AND TRIP, ELECTRIC WINDOWS ARE SPERATIC; MEANING WHEN YOU GO TO ROLL WINDOWS UP THEY START TO ROLL UP 1/4 OF THE WAY THAN THEY ROLL DOWN. *BF..*JB
MY 2013 KIA OPTIMA SX BURNS EXCESSIVE OIL AND PRODUCES EXCESSIVE EXHAUST SMOKE. THE DEALERSHIP ORIGINALLY TOLD ME I HAD A FAULTY EXHAUST CONTROL VALVE. AFTER I REPLACED THAT VALVE, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM(S) PERSISTED. AT MY LAST SERVICE VISIT, THE DEALERSHIP SIMPLY TOPPED-OFF THE OIL TO GET THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION AND CHECK OIL WARNING LIGHTS TO GO OFF. UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, I SOON DISCOVERED THAT THE EXCESSIVE EXHAUST SMOKE REMAINED. THE ONLY TIME THE EXCESSIVE EXHAUST SMOKE DISSIPATES IS WHEN MOST OR ALL OF THE OIL HAS BURNED OFF. (THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT A SECOND DEALERSHIP SIMPLY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE OR FIX THE PROBLEM.)
