TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 KIA OPTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST FORWARD MOMENTUM WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RICK CASE KIA (3190 SATELLITE BLVD, DULUTH, GA 30096, (678) 321-1590) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE TUBE FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
THERE WAS A NEW VIBRATION SOUND WHEN WE STARTED DRIVING OUR CAR YESTERDAY. IT SOUNDED LIKE A PANEL WAS A LITTLE LOOSE OR SOMETHING. WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING IT ON THE INTERSTATE WE HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND IT WAS THE SUNROOF BURSTING INTO PIECES. FREAKED US OUT WITH THE LOUD NOISE. WE
We purchased car used on 11/27/19. Within 3 days it was chugging, engine light started blinking, and we were broke down on side of the road. Federico Kia in Wood River IL had us tow car to service and told us then that there was an issue with these engines and they would be “replacing a part, and if it does this again, we would qualify for new engine. Would have been nice to know about issue with fires in engine prior to buying an 18000 car. After paying $400 for rental car they said it was fixed. Drove ok for another 9 months and then same thing happened yet this time we could smell something burning under hood. We were by dealership when this happened and due to it chugging and engine light, we took and dropped off again. We were then told spark plugs and needed oil change again after we had just changed ourselves 2 months prior. Said they were “flushing out engine” . Total cost was over $200 for us for oil change and flush. They said technically we were over our warranty time. SMH. It hasn’t been right since we bought it. We can’t afford to make their service dept rich, so we were told they would have to charge from them. We have had to replace same spark plugs 6 times as of today. We were just driving it after oil changes every 3 months even if miles driven were under 2000, and it’s chugging again and smoke and smell from under hood again. This engine is going to catch fire i fear. I won’t drive past 10 miles from my home because I have engine that chugs and overheats. Oil is not cheap and we put 2 qts in every 2 weeks or so. Dealership said there were no oil leaks they could see and yet puddle under car many times. Can someone please help us?
P1326 ENGINE CODE CAME ON WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. LUCKILY WAS IN FAR LEFT LANE WHEN ENGINE SHUT OFF AND WAS SAFELY ABLE TO GET OFF FREEWAY TO A NEARBY GAS STATION.
E - C V V T SEAL SEATING ISSUE. MY 2016 KIA OPTIMA IS GIVING AN OBD II ERROR CODE OF P0010 "A" CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR CIRCUIT. THIS CAUSES REDUCTION IN POWER DURING ACCELERATION, AND ELEVATES ENGINE IDLE SPEEDS TO 1200-1400 RPM. THIS ELEVATION IN ENGINE SPEED CAUSES THE CAR TO TRY TO MOVE FORWARD EVEN WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THIS COULD EASILY LEAD TO VEHICLE CRASHING. THIS, I BELIEVE, SHOULD BE A PART OF RECALL INSTEAD OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM THE MANUFACTURER. HYUNDAI AND KIA USE SAME ENGINE, AND HAS A TSB NUMBER 15-01-022-1, AND KIA HAS A TSB TO CHANGE THE MOTOR PLUG AND ECVVT COVER FOR IT. THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE IN THEIR CAR, AND IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. WHEN THE CAR WAS IN MOTION FOR ME THE FIRST TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I ALMOST HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AS THE ENGINE DOES NOT GO BACK DOWN TO IDLE SPEEDS. THIS IS DANGEROUS.
I HAVE HAD THE STEERING GO OUT MULTIPLE TIMES - REPORTED IT TO KIA WHERE I LEASE FROM AND A LOCAL SHOP. JUST HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY (11/25/19) - IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR - I HAVE HAD IT TOWED TO THE PLACE I LEASED FROM AS WELL. ALSO, TWICE NOW - WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. VERY SCARY. AS I STATED, I HAVE TAKEN IN AND THE KIA DEALERSHIPS SAY THAT THEY CANNOT NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE, THEY TREAT ME AS I AM MAKING UP. NOW READING THAT IT DOES HAPPEN TO OTHERS, I THINK THIS IS AN ISSUE. I WILL NOT LEASE OR BUY ANOTHER KIA
THREE OUT OF FOUR WINDOWS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. IT STARTED WITH THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, THEN THE REAR DRIVER 3 MONTHS AGO, AND NOW THE FRONT PASSENGER ABOUT A MONTH AGO. DID SOME RESEARCH TO FIND IT'S A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM ON KIA'S FOR THE REGULATORS TO BREAK. I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY AT THE TIME TO FIX THE FIRST ONE, WAS SAVING UP AND THEN SECOND ONE STOPPED WORKING. DEFINITELY DIDN'T HAVE MONEY FOR TWO, WHEN THIRD QUIT. NOW JUST WAITING FOR THE LAST ONE TO KEEL OVER. I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT PROBLEM, BUT I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO FIX ALL FOUR WINDOWS AT ONE TIME ON A CAR THAT'S ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JEFFREY KIA LOCATED AT 30800 GRATIOT AVE, ROSEVILLE, MI 48066, (586) 460-7061 AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED THE OIL TO BE TOPPED OFF. THE CONTACT STATED OIL WAS ADDED TO THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING HOWEVER, SOON AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT HER MOTHER'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY JERKED TWICE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED BLINKING, AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY SAFELY, MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A KIA DEALERSHIP NEARBY AND I WAS TOLD IT COULD TAKE 3-4 DAYS BEFORE MY CAR IS LOOKED AT. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. IT HAPPENED ON OCTOBER 3RD, MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A KIA DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THE KNOCKING SENSOR WENT OUT. THE ISSUE WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED AND I PICKED MY CAR UP ON OCTOBER 8TH.
SINCE I BOUGHT 2016 KIA OPTIMA EX, THERE HAS BEING WINDOWS PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL. EITHER WINDOW REGULATOR OR MODULE PANEL OR SOME THING ELSE CAUSE WINDOWS TO DROP DOWN WHILE YOUR DRIVING, OR MALFUNCTION DOES NOT OPERATE AT ALL. AT LEAST 4 TIMES I TOOK TO DEALER TO FIX IT, BUT IN SHORT PERIOD OF TIME HAPPENS AGAIN, IT IS NOT ONE WINDOW HAPPENS TO ALL OF THEM. I AM SICK & TIRED OF GOING TO DEALER TO WASTE MY TIME. IT IS SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH KIA AND SHOULD REDESIGN THE OPERATING WINDOW SYSTEM.
WAS TRAVELING TO DALLAS, TEXAS FROM WACO, TEXAS ON 10/05/2019. THE TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE WENT OUT. THE VEHICLE SURGED ERRATICALLY MULTIPLE TIMES, WHILE THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN, SPEED LIMIT WAS 75MPH, WITH BARRIERS ON BOTH SIDES (NO SHOULDER ON EITHER SIDE. OF INTERSTATE 35 NORTH) MY VEHICLE GOT DOWN TO ABOUT 40MPH WHEN WE HAD TO COAST UNTIL I FINALLY FOUND A BREAK IN THE BARRIERS. WAS A VERY SCARY SITUATION. THEY WERE VEHICLES OBVIOUSLY DRIVING SPEED. LIMIT BEHIND US. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE AND CALL ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE. THEY TOWED THE VEHICLE BACK TO UNIVERSITY KIA IN WACO, TEXAS. WHERE IT CURRENTLY SITS, AWAITING A NEW TRANSMISSION. WE ARE TERRIFIED TO GET BEHIND THE WHEEL OF THIS CAR AGAIN. ALL I AM BEING TOLD IS THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION IS BEING ORDERED AT THIS TIME.
I AM STARTING TO EXPERIENCE ENGINE TROUBLE WITH MY 2016 KIA OPTIMA. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW WITH 0 MILES. MY ISSUE STATED ON FRIDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 27TH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IMMEDIATELY, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SATURDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 28TH. THE TECH PERSON AT KIA COUNTRY OF SAVANNAH HOOK THE COMPUTER DEVICE TO FIND THE ISSUE. HE STATED IT WAS DUE TO AIR FLOW SENSOR. I ADVISED HIM I WOULD BE TRAVELING TO PORT CANAVERAL, FL IN THE EARLY MORNING FOR A CRUISE. HE SAID THE VEHICLE WOULD BE FINE AND I WOULD LOSE A MILE OR TWO ON FUEL ECONOMY. WTH! HE DISENGAGED THE ENGINE WARNING SIGNAL THEN SAYS "IF IT COME BACK ON, YOU WILL BE OKAY." WELL, THE NEXT MORNING, I DROVE MY CAR TO ORLANDO FOR AN OVERNIGHT STAY THEN ON TO PORT CANAVERAL THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. OF COURSE, I DROVE AROUND ORLANDO AREA. THE CHECK ENGINE COME ON, AGAIN, THEN WENT OFF ON ITS OWN. HERE IS WHERE THINGS REALLY WENT DOWNHILL. I MADE IT BACK TO SAVANNAH DURING A BAD THUNDERSTORM. THE CAR STARTED TO STUTTER LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR HOME AND PARKED IT UNTIL MONDAY MORNING. UPON DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP, I LOST ALL ACCELERATION POWER AND COAST FOR ABOUT AN HALF MILE TO THE SERVICE CENTER. BY THIS TIME, I AM ABOUT TO EXPLODE WITH ANGER. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE MONDAY MORNING, I AM DRIVING A RENTAL CAR PAID BY THE DEALERSHIP. FINALLY, YESTERDAY, I WAS TOLD THE ISSUE WAS THE WIRING HARNESS THAT WAS COVERED BY A RECALL. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN THEM MONTHS AGO ABOUT SOME KNOCKING NOISES THAT I HEARD. ONLY TO BE TOLD, I WAS HEARING THINGS. AFTER READING REVIEWS, I AM CONCERNED THAT ISSUE IS GOING TO GROW INTO A MAJOR ONE. THE CAR HAS ONLY 36,000 MILES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V705000 (POWER TRAIN) AT GREENWAY KIA OF FRANKLIN (5026, 1413 MURFREESBORO RD, FRANKLIN, TN 37067, (615) 224-7973). THE DRIVESHAFT WAS REPLACED DURING THE REPAIR, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FLUID AFTERWARDS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO CALL THE DEALER BACK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS VALID FOR ONLY TWELVE MONTHS AND HAD EXPIRED. THE DEALER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND THEY WOULD NOT GET PAID TO PERFORM THE REPAIR; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,323.
STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNED TO THE RIGHT IS VERY LOOSE TO THE LEFT VERY TIGHT. OCCASSIONALLY IT LOCKS COMPLETELY CAUSING VEHICLE TO EITHER BE UNABLE TO TURN OR MERGE LANES, OR EVEN MORE DANGEROUSLY CAUSES THE CAR TO VEER TO THE RIGHT WITH NO ABILITY TO MOVE IT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON THE HIGHWAY TYPICALLY AT SPEEDS OR 55 OR HIGHER. THE TIGHTNESS/LOOSENESS USUALLY HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED OR TYPE OF ROADWAY.
WHILE DRIVING WITH LIGHTS IN AUTO MODE THEY WILL RANDOMLY COME ON IN DAYLIGHT AND GO OFF IN DARKNESS. IF YOU SWITCH TO MANUAL IT WORKS PROPERLY, BUT IN AUTO IT'S TOTALLY RANDOM AND HAPPENS WITH NO CHANGE IN OUTSIDE LIGHTING CONDITIONS.
AFTER 2ND TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED, 2 DAYS AFTER I RECEIVED A DIAGNOSTIC WARNING OF A POSSIBLE MOTOR CONTROL UNIT ERROR. , I RECEIVED A PROMPT SO IT COULD REPORT IT BACK TO KIA, I THEN RECEIVED AN EMAIL WITH ERROR CODE P0C17 BROUGHT CAR BACK TO KIA, THEY STATED THE CALIBRATION WAS OFF, AND NEEDED TO BE RE CALIBRATED
I WAS CHANGING OUT THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND I NOTICED ON THE DRIVER SIDE THE BOOT AROUND THE AXEL HAD CRACKED AND THE GREASE HAD LEAKED OUT.
AFTER THE KIA DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION THE FIRST TIME. DUE TO A MCU FAILURE. 2 WEEKS LATER CAR WAS DUE FOR OIL CHANGE, JIFFY LUBE STATED MY TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING. I TOOK IT BACK TO KIA. AFTER 2 DAYS OF IT BEI N.V G IN THE SHOP. I WENT TO KIA ON THE 3RD DAY, TO CHECK IT ON THE CAR AND WAS TOLD THE DEALERSHIP WAS WAITING ON APPROVAL FROM KIA AUTOMOTIVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION A 2ND TIME DO TO THE LEAKING OF THE FIRST TRANSMISSION
THE HEADLIGHTS RANDOMLY TURN OFF AT NIGHT WHEN I'M DRIVING WITH THE AUTO HEADLIGHT FEATURE ON. TURNING THE SWITCH TO ON MANUALLY AND BACK TO AUTO TURNS THEM BACK ON.
WHILST THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON ANY ROAD THE HEADLIGHTS WILL SHUT THEMSELVES OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN TURN BACK ON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE SWITCH SETTING IS SET TO AUTO OR IS IN THE ON POSITION. WHEN I GOOGLE SEARCH THE ISSUE I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE. THE DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD WHICH DISPLAYS THE LIGHT SWITCH SETTINGS POPS UP AND HIGHLIGHTS THE "AUTO" POSITION AND THEN DISAPPEARS. I AM NOT SURE IF THE SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN THE SWITCH IS IN THE "ON" POSITION. WHEN IT HAPPENS I WILL SOMETIMES MOVE THE SWITCH AND THE LIGHTS COME ON AGAIN, AND SOMETIMES THIS DOES NOT HELP AND I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH NO HEADLIGHTS AND IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY ON VERY DARK ROADS. WHEN DRIVING IN THE DAYLIGHT I WILL SEE THE DISPLAY FOR THE LIGHT SWITCH POSITION APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATING THAT THIS CONDITION IS HAPPENING DURING THE DAY AS WELL. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE, IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING WITH LIGHTS IN AUTO MODE THEY WILL RANDOMLY COME ON IN DAYLIGHT AND GO OFF IN DARKNESS. IF YOU SWITCH TO MANUAL IT WORKS PROPERLY, BUT IN AUTO IT'S TOTALLY RANDOM AND HAPPENS WITH NO CHANGE IN OUTSIDE LIGHTING CONDITIONS.
THE HOOD IS STUCK. THE CABLE SEEMS TO BE STRETCHED. WHEN I DID GET IT OPENED THE CABLE WAS ATTACHED AND COULD SEE IT WORKING BUT IT'S NOT UNLATCHING HOOD. HOOD IS STILL STUCK.
MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW STARTED FALLING DOWN ALL OF A SUDDEN. I HAD TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR AND THE MOTOR. NOW, JUST A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW IS DOING THE SAME THING. THIS SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT. I NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A WINDOW MOTOR IN MY 1997 TOYOTA 4RUNNER THAT I JUST TRADED IN IN JULY OF 2018.
My name is E........ M........ and I'm writing this email/complaint in hopes it can be resolved or you can pass this email along to the appropriate person or persons to have this matter looked into. We purchased a used 2016 Kia Optima a few years back and have had nothing but trouble, from electrical issues, recalls, transmission issues, oil consumption, and smoke coming through the air vents!!!! and there's more, the last time we had an issue and took it to a dealer for problems shifting, hard shifts, loss of power, and smoking, we were told the dealer could not duplicate the problems while driving it and that was that, not a damn thing fixed because apparently everyone is stupid or blind and I was more than pissed. On 7/13/22 the car has been at the dealer again (for almost two weeks now, but they were so busy they just got to it today) so the car is there for the same exact things listed before only this time they state the turbo turbine is bad and it's gonna be $4000.00 to fix it. First off NO, and secondly NO, I will not let this happen! BTW, please pay close attention to the part of smoke coming through the air vents!!!! Currently, the car is at a KIA dealer still, the general manager was to call me on the 14th and NEVER DID today is the 19th, I called today and they are acting like they don't even know me. NO warning lamps, the car can be completely out of oil, and still no engine or oil light will come on. The fact that this car has smoke coming through the air vents is of most concern, I need help dealing with this issue and will contact a lawyer if needed or if you advise me to. BTW I emailed all head people at Kia corporate and NO response from them as well. Thank you The consumer stated the general manager has the approval to move forward with the repairs and would like to rescind the complaint.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Optima. The contact stated that the front driver’s and passenger’s side windows and the rear driver’s side and passenger’s side windows were inoperable and would not open or close. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the window regulators for each window had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the failure. The contact also stated that the exterior door handles on the front and rear passenger’s side doors had fractured. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 85,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BLINKING, THERE IS A NOTICEABLE DECREASE IN POWER, AND IT JERKS OUT OF FIRST GEAR. TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR A FREE DIAGNOSTIC WHICH WAS P1326. ALL FLUID ARE IN ORDER. MILAGE IS 123,000. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING HE FR WORK.
VEHICLE, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WILL SHIFT UNEXPECTEDLY FROM FIFTH GEAR INTO FOURTH VERY ABRUPTLY AND DRAMATICALLY. THERE IS ALSO A LAPSE IN TIME WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE AND WITH FOR IT TO DOWN SHIFT INTO FOURTH GEAR OR BEYOND. *TR
EVER SINCE I HAD MY CAR SERVICED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO MY CAR HAS BEEN SLUGGISH AND ACCELERATION HAS WEAKENED, ALSO I'M GETTING POORER GAS MILEAGE. THE RECALL THAT WAS FIXED HAS GREATLY REDUCED THE PERFORMANCE OF MY VEHICLE.

I STARTED THE CAR, WHICH APPEARED NORMAL, ABOUT 10 MINUTES INTO MY TRIP, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY WAS FLASHING, " CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM, STOP VEHICLE AND TURN OFF ENGINE " A DINGING BELL WAS GOING OFF, I WAS STARTLED BY IT, SO I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND STOPPED I LET CAR SIT FOR A MINUTE THE TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. NO LUCK. THE NAV SCREEN SHOWED MOTOR CONTROL UNIT, ISSUE. ASKED ME TO SEND A REPORT, THEN CALL ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE. ROADSIDE SHOWED UP TOWED ME TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP, THEY CALLED ME 1 PM SATURDAY AFTERNOON. SAYING THEY NEEDED MORE TIME TO DIAGNOSE IT,ABS PUT ME IN A LOANER CAR I DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING FROM THE DEALER MONDAY THEY THURSDAY AFTERNOON. I STOPPED BY AND WAS TOLD THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR ONLY HAD 56K MILES ON IT. I PICK UP THE CAR ON FRIDAY.

ON JULY 26 2019 I TOOK MY 2016 KIA OPTIMA IN THE VALLEY HI KIA FOR A PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN AND PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO THE ECU. ON 7/29/19 MY VEHICLE MIL LIGHT BEGAN TO BLINK AND THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65MPH. TOOK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS. ON 8/2/19 PICKED UP CAR. ON 8/7/19 THE MIL LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS GIVEN A RENTAL. ON 8/13/19 REC'D TEXT VEHICLE WAS DONE. ON 8/21/19 SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN EACH TIME I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVES MY CAR AS WELL. I AM CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY AS WELL AS MINE DUE TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ. MY VEHICLE IS STILL AT VALLEY HI KIA TO THIS DAY 8/26/19. TODAY KIA TEXTED ME THAT THEY ARE ORDERING PARTS AND NOW REPLACING THE KNOCK CENSOR AND REVIEWING A NEW CAMPAIGN THAT JUST CAME OUT. WAS TOLD AT LEAST A WEEK MORE.
ENGINE RUMBLES LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO DIE INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE AND BEFORE I PRESS THE GAS AFTER BEING STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ON CITY STREETS. I OFTEN HAVE TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL HALF WAY DOWN TO GET IT TO GAIN SPEED ON CITY STREETS, IT FEELS SLUGGISH, AND SHIFTING DOES NOT FEEL VERY SMOOTH.
I RENTED A VEHICLE FROM FAIR/UBER UNDER A CALIFORNIA PROMOTION. IN THE UNDERSTANDING THE VEHICLE WAS UBER READY. THREE WEEKS INTO USING THE CAR SQUEEZING BRAKES LET ME TO THE AUTHORISED SHOP FOR MAINTANENCE. IT WAS INSPECTED AND WHAT WAS FOUND MADE THIS VEHICLE UNSAFE. I COULD NOT USE IT FOR ITS PURPOSE. TO DRIVE IT FOR UBER. I HAVE SNAP SHOTS OF THE CONDITION OF THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE SHOCKS OR STRUTS ARE ALSO SHOT AND THE COOLANT RESIVIOR WAS CLOSE TO EMPTY. THE TWO FRONT TIRES ALSO WERE RECOMENDED TO BE REPLACED AS THEY WERE CUPPING. THIS VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED PRIOR TO THERE RELEASING IT TO ME FOR ANY SAFETY ISSUES PRIOR AND WHEN THE INVOICE WAS SENT TO DONLEN, 3 TIMES, WHICH TOOK A WHOLE DAY, WAS FULLY DENIED. REFUSAL TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS CAR IS STILL IN THIS CONDITION. IT WAS REMOVED FROM PEP BOYS ON MISSION GEORGE BY MYSELF. THE NEXT DAY AT 5:06 PM I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM FAIR SUGGESTING I TAKE IT TO ANOTHER APPROVED SHOP. I REALISED THAT THIS WAS NOT MY DUTY OR MY PROBLEM. I COULD JUST RETURN THE VEHICLE. I WAS I AM DONE WITH THIS COMPANY. IT WAS GOING TO BE A 3 DAY JOB IN THE SHOP. AND FAIR TOLD ME REPEATEDLY THAT THEY HAD NO ABILITY TO PREVENT ME FROM HAVING TO PAY FOR THE WEEK IT WAS DISABLED. 24 DAYS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE, THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND IT WAS EMPTY. I'M WONDERING WHERE 5QTS OF OIL WENT IN 24 DAYS. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE LEAKS ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE.
I BOUGHT A 2016 KIA OPTIMA FROM AIRPORT KIA IN 12/16. BEGINNING ON 5/24/19, WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON A BUSY ROAD THE SPEED FELL FROM 45 TO 35 IN LESS THAN A MINUTE AND BEGAN TO JERK. I HAD IT TOWED TO GALEANA KIA (G.A.) SERVICE DEPT, DUE TO PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH AIRPORT KIA'S NEGLIGENCE AND REFUSAL TO FIX DEFOGGING ISSUES I HAD ON A PREVIOUS 2014 KIA OPTIMA THAT ALSO HAD SAFETY ISSUES. G.A. MADE REPAIRS TO MY VEHICLE FOR THAT VISIT. ON 6/24/19, IT WAS TOWED AGAIN TO G.A. FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE MILES DROPPED FROM 45 TO 35 WHILE DRIVING AND BEGAN TO JERK FORCEFULLY AGAIN. BOTH TIMES ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS TIME G.A.'S DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE DIDN'T PULL UP ANY ISSUES WITH MY 2016 OPTIMA. THEY OPENED UP A CASE WITH THE KIA CONSUMER TECHNICAL DEPT. WHEN I CALLED G.A. A FEW DAYS LATER, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS SUGGESTED THEY CHANGE OUT THE KNOCK SENSOR. ON 6/28/19, THE REGIONAL ANALYST CONTACTED ME. I VOICED MY CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AND THAT AIRPORT KIA GAVE ME ANOTHER DEFECTIVE CAR THAT PUTS MINE, MY CHILD'S LIFE AND THOSE AROUND ME IN JEOPARDY. I STRESSED HOW THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE ISN'T EVEN PICKING UP THE ISSUE OF MY VEHICLE SO BASICALLY THE ENGINEERS ARE GOING BASED ON HYPOTHETICAL'S AND CAN'T GUARANTEE SAFETY OF THE CAR. HER RESPONSE WAS THAT SHE'S 100% CONFIDENT THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM AND TO BUILD TRUST IN MY CAR. ON 7/9/19 THE REGIONAL ANALYST FROM KIA CONSUMER E-MAILED ME NOW CHANGING THE SERVICE TO BE DONE TO MY CAR STATING THAT THEY HAVE THE ENGINE ORDERED FOR MY VEHICLE AND THE HARNESS. WHEN I ASKED FOR INFORMATION AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE CHANGE SHE DID NOT PROVIDE INFORMATION ANSWERING MY QUESTION. G.A. WAS HONEST IN LETTING ME KNOW THAT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED AT ALL IN REGARDS ANY ENGINE OR HARNESS REPLACEMENTS AND THE LAST THEY HEARD FROM THEM ONLY INVOLVED CHANGING THE KNOCK SENSOR.
THE DRIVERS SIDE RUNNING LIGHT WENT OUT ONE DAY AND MY CAR ALERTED THAT IT WAS OUT. I CHANGED THE BULB AND THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FUSE APPEARED OK, HOWEVER I REPLACED IT JUST TO BE SURE. THERE WAS STILL NO CHANGE. CHECKED THE POWER TO THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND I HAVE POWER ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL IT ENTERS THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND THEN THERE IS NO POWER TO THE RUNNING LIGHT ONLY. THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR A WHOPPING $360.

I THOUGHT I HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING 65MPH ON A LOCAL INTERSTATE WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR, ALL MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, I LOST NAVIGATION & RADIO AND MY POWER STEERING LOCKED UP. I WENT TO TURN ON MY HAZARDS AND THOSE DID NOT WORK EITHER. I CHECKED MY MIRRORS TO MAKE SURE NO ONE WAS GOING TO HIT ME AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER. I WAS EXTREMELY FEARFUL AS I HAD MINIMAL STEERING CAPABILITY & WAS UNABLE TO NOTIFY OTHER MOTORISTS OF MY DISABLED VEHICLE AS MY HAZARD LIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ALTERNATOR FOR MY 3 YEAR OLD CAR. WHILE MY MILEAGE WAS AT 66,500 MILES, I DEFINITELY HAD NOT ANTICIPATED NEED TO REPLACE THAT PART OF A WHILE. DESPITE THAT, I WAS MORE UPSET THAT I LOST FUNCTION OF MY CAR AND WAS NOT ABLE TO WARN OTHER CARS WITH WORKING HAZARD LIGHTS.

I'VE BEEN HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE JERKING UPON TAKE OFF AS IF THE TRANSMISSION STRUGGLES TO ENGAGE, IT'S CAUSED ME SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE CAR NOT GOING WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO, HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO.. THIS HAPPENS AT START UP WHEN FIRST SHIFTING INTO GEAR, AND AFTER STOPING THEN ATTEMPTING TO GO. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO KIA 3 TIMES. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT THEY FELT THE ISSUE, THEN CLAIMED IT WAS DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING EQUIPPED WITH A DOUBLE CLUTCH. NOT LETTING ME TAKE THE PAPERWORK THAT DESCRIBES THIS DOUBLE CLUTCH. I HAVE NEVER EVER FELT THIS WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WITH A BRAND NEW ONE.
