"AIR BAG" LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER ENGINE IGNITION WHEN IT SHOULD TURN OFF. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. WE HAVE THREE KIDS WHO FREQUENTLY RIDE THE VEHICLE AND WORRY THAT SHOULD WE HAPPEN TO BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT ACTIVATE. THEREFORE, THIS KINDOF OF ENDANGERMENT MUST BE DEALT SERIOUSLY AND, THEREFORE KIA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS TO CORRECT THE FAULTY DEVICE. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOOR WAS ONLY ABLE TO OPERATE MANUALLY AND FAILED TO OPERATE WITH THE KEY FOB. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. FRONT DRIVERS SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM SNAPPED FROM RUST. KIA MOTORS FAILED TO INCLUDE ME IN RECALL EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BEEN REGISTERED IN ONE OF THE AFFECTED STATES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
THIS VEHICLE'S "AIRBAG" LIGHT SENSOR CAME ON UPON STARTING MY VEHICLE ROUTINELY. I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT PRIOR TO THE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. I RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE OF $968.71 TO REPAIR TWO AIRBAG SENSORS AT THE DEALERSHIP. I THEN LEARNED THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT ONCE ILLUMINATED SHUTS DOWN THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE AND THAT THERE ARE OVER 44 REGISTERED NHTSA COMPLAINTS ON THE 2006 KIA SEDONA MODELS. I CALLED KIA CONSUMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AND WAS ISSUED A CASE NUMBER. I HAVE ALLIED THE ASSISTANCE CENTER AND KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT OF THE WESTERN REGIONAL OFFICE OVER TWO DOZEN TIMES BEGINNING DECEMBER 18, 2014 ASKING WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THEY SAID ONE TIME THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND SUGGESTED I CALL THE WESTERN REGIONAL OFFICE WHICH I CALL DAILY WITH NO RETURN CALL FROM KIA'S [XXX] . KIA CONSUMER ASSISTANCE HAS PROMISED ME A RETURN PHONE CALL DAILY SINCE DECEMBER 19, 2015 WHICH I NEVER RECEIVE. I AM NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE SINCE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS DOWN AND RENDERS THE VAN UNSAFE TO DRIVE MY FAMILY. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V550000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AND WON'T GO OFF. I SEE THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH A MULTITUDE OF 2006 KIA SEDONA OWNERS. I AM TOLD THAT THIS SHUTS THE WHOLE AIRBAG SYSTEM OFF UNTIL IT IS CORRECTED AND IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO HAVE FIXED. AS WITH MANY OTHERS, MY YOUNG CHILDREN RIDE IN THIS CAR AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT ABOUT ONCE EVERY 2 MONTHS. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WITH NO ACCIDENT TAKING PLACE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2006 AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $135 JUST TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THE ACTUAL REPAIR WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE. I CALLED KIA MOTOR COMPANY BUT THEY WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE AT NO COST. THEY SAY IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY (WHICH IT IS) AND THERE IS NOT A RECALL (WHICH THERE ISN'T, YET, BUT PROBABLY SHOULD BE) SO THEY CAN NOT OFFER TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT NO COST. I UNDERSTAND THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WILL NOT FUNCTION AT ALL IF THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED SO NOW, MY WIFE IS DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD AND JUST TURNED OVER 100,000 MILES. THE LOWER CONTROL ARM IN MY VEHICLE BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT. I GOT THE VEHICLE TO COUGHLIN KIA IN NEWARK OHIO. THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR AN ALIGNMENT, A STABILIZER, AND A TIRE. THE CONTROL ARM THAT BROKE IS A RECALL, AND ALL THE THINGS THAT THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR NEED REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE CONTROL ARM BREAKING. I BELIEVE THAT IF THE PART THAT BROKE CAUSED THE OTHER DAMAGE TO THE THREE PARTS STATED ABOVE, IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RECALL. I WAS TOLD, BY A COUGHLIN KIA ASSOCIATE THAT THE REASON THAT I AM BEING CHARGED IS BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE TO MY VEHICLE BY A KIA DEALERSHIP. AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME INDICATING A POSSIBLE FAILURE WITH THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SENSORS/WIRING. *TR
I WAS LEAVING MY HOUSE AND HAD JUST DRIVEN A SHORT DISTANCE WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ESC OFF CAME ON AS THE CAR SLOWED TO ALMOST A STOP. I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND RAISED THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGHLY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES BUT NOTHING CHAGED; IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND THE WARNING LIGHTS STAYED ON. THE ESC OFF LIGHT EVENTUALLY WENT OUT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON BUT I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO LUBRICATED A THROTTLE CABLE AFTER CHECKING THE CODES. IT WORKED FOR A FEW WEEKS AFTER THAT BUT THE ESC OFF LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN INTERMITTENTLY AFTER THAT. I AM AFRAID OF LOSING POWER WHEN I AM IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, AT AN INTERSECTION, MERGING, OR ANYWHERE I WILL BE IN DANGER IF I CANNOT MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM SEVERED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE UNCONTROLLABLE YIELDING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED DOWN TO THE GROUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT TIRES SPLIT IN TWO DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS AND THE CONTROL ARMS WERE FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
DROVE THE VEHICLE INTO MY CARPORT AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND TRIED TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE KEY IS STUCK AND UNABLE TO TURN IT INTO LOCK POSITION. THE KEY STAYS IN THE ACC POSITION AND WILL NOT GO INTO THE LOCK POSITION. THE VEHICLE STARTS ALRIGHT JUST UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND PREVENTED HER FROM CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE, WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT ALL FOUR CONTROL ARMS WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V550000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THREE SENSORS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. WHEN I ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WITH THE KIA DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD DO A DIAGNOSTIC FOR $95. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT MY AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS A SAFETY CONCERN AND HAVE KIA ISSUE A RECALL. WHEN I GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER KIA SEDONA OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. SOME OF THEM HAVE HAD TO PAY OVER $400 TO HAVE IT FIXED. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO HAVE AN AIRBAG FIXED, WHEN IT SHOULD BE A RECALL IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
IN MARCH 2014 WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE KIA RECALL #SC100. THIS WAS CONCERNING THE LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARMS BEING SUBJECT TO RUST AND FAILURE FOR NORTHERN VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARAMOUNT KIA, HICKORY NC. ACCORDING TO KIA THE CONTROL ARMS WERE INSPECTED AND FOUND TO BE IN SATISFACTORY CONDITION. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARM BROKE IN TWO. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED THE A LOCAL GARAGE AND THE ARM WAS CHANGED OUT WITH A USED LIKE NEW CONTROL ARM. ON FRIDAY AUGUST 14TH 2015 THE DRIVERS SIDE CONTROL ARM BROKE INTO. I CALLED KIA AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE IT WAS INSPECTED IN MARCH 2014 AND NOTHING WAS DONE THEN THAT THERE WAS NOTING THAT COULD BE DONE NOW. NEEDING THE VEHICLE FOR TRANSPORTATION ELECTED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE GARAGE THAT FIXED IT THE LAST TIME TO GET IT FIXED AGAIN. KIA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THESE CONTROL ARMS HOWEVER HAS ELECTED NOT TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE ONES ON MY VEHICLE. I DO FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COST OF HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TWICE AND THE COST OF PARTS AND LABOR TO HAVE THE ARMS REPLACED. I COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED WITH KIA ALSO.
SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENS WHILE CAR IS IN DRIVE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND PUSH IT CLOSED, BUT IT SCARES ME WHEN I'M DRIVING AND MY SON IS IN HIS CAR SEAT AND THE DOOR CHIME WILL GO OFF BECAUSE THE DOOR IS OPENING. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP. AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON QUITE OFTEN AND HAD TO TAKE TO MECHANIC TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. DEALER SAID THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE SEAT BELT BUCKLE REPLACED AT A COST OFF $400. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? *TR
MY FIANCE' DROPPED OUR OLDEST DAUGHTER OFF AT SCHOOL. WHILE DRIVING HOME SHE HEARD A LOUD CLUNK BUT EVERYTHING FELT FINE. SHE THEN WENT TO DROP OFF OUR YOUNGEST AT THE BABYSITTERS. SHE THEN WENT TO TURN AROUND IN THE DRIVEWAY AND HEARD A LOUD POP AND FELT THE FRONT END OF THE VAN FALL. SHE GOT OUT TO FIND THE DRIVER'S FRONT TIRE COMPLETELY FLAT AND THE SWAY BAR SHOVED INTO THE TIRE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION WE FOUND BOTH SWAY BAR END LINKS HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. THE BALLS HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT OF THEIR SOCKETS AND ALLOWED THE SWAY BAR TO FALL IN A WAY THAT ALLOWED IT TO RUPTURE THE TIRE. KIA HAS A PROBLEM WITH FRONT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS RUSTING OUT AND FAILING. WE WERE GOING TO TAKE THE VAN IN FOR THE LOWER CONTROL ARM RECALL BECAUSE THEY ARE BREAKING DUE TO RUST. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE TIRE AND SWAY BAR WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE CONTROL ARM RECALL. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WITH KIA MOTORS TO SEE IF THEY WILL RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE TRAVELLING DOWN THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE AND POSSIBLY TRAGIC. I DO HAVE PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE IF NEEDED. *TT
2006 SEDONA AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IN DASH STAYS ON. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR SINCE NEW AND THIS IS ABOUT THE 6TH TIME THE LIGHT STAY ON AND THIS WAS AFTER A SEVERE WINTER WITH A LOT OF SALT ON THE ROAD. IT HAPPENED WITH IN A WEEK AFTER THE DEALER PERFORMED 3 RECALLS, 2 TO CORRECT METAL PARTS FROM RUST FROM SALT AND A FAILING REAR HEATER HOSE USUALLY THE LIGHT STAYS ON FOR 2 TO 3 DAYS BUT THIS TIME IT HAS BEEN ON FOR 3 WEEKS. ONE TIME WHEN IT WAS ON I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A GROUND PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM STARTED AFTER THE DEALER TOOK APART THE HEAD LINER FOR THE 2ND TIME TO REPAIR A LEAK. WHEN THEY PUT THE HEADLINER BACK THERE WERE OVER 10 THINGS THEY DID NOT PUT BACK CORRECTLY. FROM THAT TIME ON I SAID I HAD NO FAITH IN THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYING IF I WOULD BE IN A CRASH. NOW THAT THE LIGHT IS ON FOR OVER 3 WEEKS I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED AS IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEM IS REPORTED MANY TIMES ON THE INTERNET AND KIA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM!
FOR NO REASON WHAT SO EVER, MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON TODAY AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT STAYS ON, REGARDLESS OF IF THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE SEAT. I DID HAVE TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BACK IN JANUARY, BUT I DID NOTICE THAT IT DID THIS ONCE BEFORE, HOWEVER SHUTTING IT OFF AND RESTARTING IT ALWAYS FIXED THE PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS, FROM WHAT I'M READING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I TOOK MY KIA INTO THE DEALER FOR A RECALL CHECK ON MY CONTROL ARMS. THE DEALER FOUND OUT MY FRONT LEFT COIL SPRING WAS IN PIECES ALONG WITH THE BEARING. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS BUT I NEVER RECEIVED ONE. I READ WHERE THE VAN HAD TO BE MADE BETWEEN DEC.20, 2005 AND MARCH 20, 2006. IF MY VAN WAS MADE LATER THEN THAT THEN THEY STILL DID NOT FIX THE CORROSION PROBLEM. I HAD TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS. I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ON A LATER MADE VAN. *TR
HAVING AN ISSUE WITH REPEAT PROBLEMS WITH LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL. BULB HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES (TWICE IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. DEALER REPLACED BULB, LEFT TURN SIGNAL FUNCTIONED FOR 3 WEEKS. THEN, THE FRONT LAMP DOES NOT FUNCTION. TOOK VAN TO GOODYEAR STORE - THEIR TECH REPLACED THE BULB (AGAIN) AND SAID HE HAD SEEN MANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH L FRONT INDICATORS ON KIA AND HYUNDAI ENTOURAGE. TECH SAID THE SOCKET IS BAD, AND TO CONTACT KIA. KIA SAID TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. REALLY??? *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AT AROUND 80K MILES AND HAS STAYED ON. I HAVE CHECKED THE CONNECTIONS BENEATH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS; ALL APPEAR FIRMLY SEATED. IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT I HAD RECENTLY REPLACED THE BATTERY BEFORE THE LIGHT CAME ON, A COMMON PRECURSOR TO THIS PROBLEM IF THE ONLINE FORUMS ARE ANY INDICATION. AT ANY RATE, THIS APPEARS TO BE FAR TOO COMMON (AND EXPENSIVE!) AN ISSUE AMONG KIA OWNERS, TO SAY NOTHING OF ITS INCREDIBLE SIGNIFICANCE AS A SAFETY HAZARD. KIA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT PROMPTLY. *TR
AFTER PARKING VEHICLE, WENT TO EXIT AND COULD NOT REMOVE IGNITION KEY. KEY TURNED OFF VEHICLE BUT WOULD ONLY GO AS FAR ACCS, WHICH MEANS WHILE MOTOR WAS NOT RUNNING, POWER WAS STILL ON. LEFT INSIDE SEMI-HEATED GARAGE OVERNIGHT IN CASE OF FROZEN COMPONENTS WITHOUT RESULTS. WHILE DASH INDICATOR SEEMED TO SHOW PROPER GEAR SELECTIONS, WHILE IN PARK, KEY COULD NOT REMOVED, STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT LOCK, AND VEHICLE COULD BE MOVED FORWARD AND BACKWARD BY MANUAL PUSHING, IN THE MEANTIME IT WAS USING UP THE BATTERY. KIA DEALERSHIP DETERMINED "SHIFTER ASSEMBLY FAILURE", AND AFTER $600+ AND 6 DAYS FOR THE SPECIAL ORDERED PART, VEHICLE WAS RETURNED, BUT THE FAILED PART WAS RETURNED TO THE SUPPLIER FOR A CORE CHARGE. SO IF VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT AND IGNITION KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED THE CAR COULD BE STOLEN, IF PARKED ON AN INCLINE CAR COULD ROLL AWAY BECAUSE IT'S TRULY NOT IN PARK, AND OR YOUR BATTERY IS DEAD. THERE WAS PRIOR WARNING OF ANY FAILURE AND OWNED SINCE NEW. *TR

THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS (ESPECIALLY THE RIGHT SIDE) KEEPS BLOWING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED/CHANGED MORE THAN 6 TIMES SINCE OWING MY VAN. IT KEEPS BLOWING; RESEARCHED FOR RECALLS BUT THERE AREN'T NONE. LOOKING ONLINE I SEE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH ALL 2006 KIA SEDONA'S. THIS LAST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED, I WAS ON MY WAY TO WISCONSIN FROM MASSACHUSETTS AND MY LIGHT WENT OUT. IT WAS A SCARY SITUATION BECAUSE IT MADE THE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE SCARY AND DANGEROUS. I DIDN'T HAVE MY LOW-BEAM AND WAS FORCED TO USE MY HIGH BEAM. I WAS PULLED OVER BY POLICE BECAUSE I WAS USING MY HIGH BEAM; I HAD TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION AND TOLD HIM THAT I WAS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AS SOON AS AREA MECHANICS OPENED (THIS WAS AT 4:00AM). DATE AND MILEAGE ARE APPROXIMATE. AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH LIT UP AND STAYED ON CONTINUOUSLY. BECAUSE I WAS ILL AT THE TIME I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER UNTIL AFTER THE 100,000 MILE MARK. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT A SENSOR IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS BAD, AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE SEAT AT A PRICE OF $2,000 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IN THE MEANTIME, THEY TOLD ME THAT UNTIL THAT SENSOR WAS REPLACED THE WHOLE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS NON-FUNCTIONAL. THIS IS A TRAVESTY THAT A WHOLE SAFETY SYSTEM CAN BE DISABLED FOR WANT OF A 25 CENT SENSOR, AND THAT THEY CAN DICTATE THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE SEAT AT A PRICE OF $2,000 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WHERE THE REDUNDANCY IN THE SYSTEM? WHERE'S THE ABILITY TO JUST REPLACE THE SENSOR? MY CAR IS BARELY WORTH $6,000. I BOUGHT MY VAN IN 2012 FROM MODERN TOYOTA IN WINSTON SALEM NC. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I DID HAVE A BATTERY ISSUE AND REPLACED THE BATTERY ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO. UPON INSPECTION THE LOWER RIGHT CONTROLLER ARM SHOWED SIGNIFICANT SIGNS OF RUST AND HAD COMPLETELY BROKEN IN TWO PIECES. LOOKING AT THE LOWER LEFT CONTROLLER ARM, SIGNIFICANT SIGNS OF RUST CAN BE SEEN ALSO. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A HIGH SALT ENVIRONMENT. WAS DRIVING NORMALLY AND SUDDENLY LEFT FRONT WHEEL STARTED SKIDDING AS IT FELT LIKE IT WAS TURNED IN A DIRECTION THAT OPPOSED THE OTHER FRONT TIRE DIRECTION. VEHICLE QUICKLY BECAME UNSTEARABLE. LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS FOUND TO BE TOTALLY RUST WEAKENED WITH LARGE RUST HOLES AND CRACKS.....AND AFTER PART WAS REMOVED BY A MECHANIC, I COULD EASILY BEND THE WHOLE CONTROL ARM IN HALF WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT. IF THIS SUDDEN FAILURE HAD OCCURRED MOMENTS EARLIER WITH MY KIDS ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL AND ON THE HIGHWAY....THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH WORSE RESULT. AS A RESULT, I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT TIRES, CERTAIN PARTS CONNECTING TO THIS CONTROL ARM AND HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REALIGNED. THE OPPOSITE CONTROL ARM ON THE RIGHT SIDE SEEMS TO LOOK 'NORMAL' WITH NO APPARENT RUST WEAKENING. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE INTACT SIDE HAS A TYPE OF COATING THAT IS INTACT AND THE FAILED SIDE IS MISSING MUCH/MOST OF THE COATING. *TR
AS MY WIFE WAS MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AT APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MPH, THE VAN LURCHED LEFT AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY. AFTER CHECKING FOR FLAT TIRES AND FINDING NONE, SHE ATTEMPTED TO CONTINUE DRIVING BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING TO MUCH TO DRIVE ANY FURTHER. AFTER HAVING THE VAN TOWED TO THE SERVICE CENTER AND CHECKED OUT, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE LEFT FRONT CONTROL ARM HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND FAILED. I CRINGE AT THE THOUGHT OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AS WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAS BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AT THAT TIME, BUT CHANGED OUR PLANS AT THE LAST MINUTE. THIS VAN HAD ITS ANNUAL NH STATE SAFETY INSPECTION AT THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST AND WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. THE SHOP THAT DID THE INSPECTION AND THE SHOP THAT IS DOING THE REPAIR BOTH TOLD US THAT UNLESS THEY ACTUALLY SEE A CRACK, THERE IS NO WAY FOR THEM TO TELL IF THE PART IS COMPROMISED OR NOT. AS SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN WORKING WITH METAL FOR 30 YEARS, I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE. LASTLY, I HAVE NOTED SIX COMPLAINTS REPORTED HERE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM IN JUST THE LAST SEVEN MONTHS. IT IS MY OPINION THAT IT IS TIME FOR A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION AND RECALL BEFORE THERE IS A SERIOUS OR (HEAVEN FORBID) FATAL ACCIDENT RESULTING FROM A CONTROL ARM FAILURE. *TR

UNFORTUNATELY, ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE, WHICH WOULD COST $175 TO REPLACE, THE ENTIRE SYSTEM CEASES TO FUNCTION WHEN ANY PROBLEM OCCURS AND REQUIRES THAT NOT ONLY THE SEAT BUCKLE BE REPLACED, BUT ALSO THE SEAT FRAME ($700) AND AIR BAG COMPUTER SYSTEM ($1,500). ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE IS VERY RELIABLE AND SOUND MECHANICALLY, MY FAMILY IS AT RISK EVERYTIME WE ARE ON THE ROAD. *TR

PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, A LOUD BANG/THUD NOISE WAS HEARD FOLLOWED BY CAR NOSE DIVING TO LEFT AND STOPPED. REPAIR SHOP INDICATED THE LOWER LEFT CONTROL ARM HAD 'SNAPPED IN HALF' DUE TO BEING FULLY ROTTED VIA RUST. THIS EVENT ALSO PULLED OUT THE LEFT DRIVE SHAFT. FURTHER INSPECTION INDICATED RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS IN SAME CONDITION (RUSTED THROUGH) AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR SAFETY REASONS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS EVENT HAPPENING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS MAY LIKELY RESULT IN A ROLL OVER! *JS
DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT A LOCAL SHOP, MAJOR CRACKS WERE FOUND IN RIGHT FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM. WENT IMMEDIATELY TO KIA DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THAT CRACKS WERE SO BAD AND REMAINING METAL SO THIN "AVOID DRIVING, ANY POTHOLES OR BUMPS". NO KIA WARRANTY AT ALL, TOOK 5 DAYS FOR PARTS AND $500.00 FOR REPAIR. NOTE: VEHICLE HAD A FRONT END ALIGNMENT AT A KIA DEALER SHIP 5 MONTHS PREVIOUS AND THERE WERE NO DEFECTS LISTED. MY FAMILY HAS A 2006 KIA SEDONA EX, WE GOT IT BRAND NEW. NO MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE CAR JUST SOME MINOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES (MOST EXCEPT FOR THIS ISSUE HAVE BEEN RECALLED). THE POWER SLIDING DOORS. DRIVERS SIDE HAS BEEN THE WORST. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS FAIRLY NEW. IT STARTED AS THE POWER DOOR WOULD OCCASIONALLY PULL ITSELF IN THE WRONG DIRECTION WHEN OPENED OR CLOSED RESULTING IN THE MOTOR MAKING NOISES THEN IT WOULD BEEP. LATER IT STARTED OPENING BUT NOT MAKING IT TO ITS LATCHED POSITION. TOOK IT IN HAD THE MOTOR REPLACED. THEN ABOUT A YEAR LATER IT DIED. JUST DIED.. NO POWER WHAT SO EVER. TOOK IT IN AND THEY REPLACED THE MOTOR AGAIN AND THE LATCH RELEASE. 2 YEARS WENT BY JUST FINE THEN WE LOST THE LATCH RELEASE. SO THE DOOR WOULD OPEN OR CLOSE BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO PULL THE HANDLE OR ELSE IT WOULD GET CAUGHT. TOOK IT IN A 3RD TIME AND THEY REPLACED LATCH RELEASE ON BOTH SIDES. NO MORE ISSUES. UNTIL NOW. ABOUT 4 DAYS AGO THE AUTO LATCH RELEASE DIED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. YESTERDAY I WENT TO GO GET SOMETHING FROM THE STORE AND AS I WAS WAITING IN THE PARKING LOT I TRIED TO TEST HE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. PRESSED THE BUTTON THE AUTO RELEASE OPENED. BUT THE MOTOR SOUNDED REALLY SLOW. THEN I PRESS THE BUTTON TO CLOSE IT. AND THEN AUTO RELEASE DIED ON THAT SIDE TOO. NO SOUND JUST STOPPED WORKING. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME WE ARE TAKING IT IN FOR THE POWER DOOR TO BE FIXED. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON YOUTUBE AND GOOGLE AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHER 06 SEDONA DRIVERS HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES. WE HAVE GOTTEN RECALLS FOR IT IN THE PAST BUT NONE INVOLVE THE POWER SLIDING DOOR. CAR IS AT 90K AND THE 100K WARRANTY IS ABOUT TO GO UP. WITH THE NUMBER OF TIMES WE HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN I HOPE THAT A PERMANENT FIX WILL BE MADE OR THE MOTORS WILL BE RECALLED BECAUSE AS SOON AS IT PASSES 100K WE ARE ON OUR OWN. FAILURE: DUE TO EXTENSIVE CORROSION THROUGH OUT. POSSIBLY BECAUSE OF A SUB-STANDARD ANTI-CORROSION MANUFACTURING PROCESS. THE RIGHT SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM SHOWS STANDARD WARE AND LITTLE RUST FOR THE SAME TIME IN SERVICE. MASSACHUSETTS STATE ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION: DATED 7-12-2013 DID NOT FIND THE DEFECT, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED DUE TO CRACKS IN TAIL LIGHT LENS EVEN THOU A FRAME AND SUSPENSION CHECK IS PART OF THE INSPECTION?
