I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD THUD. THE WHEEL JERKED VIOLENTLY TO THE LEFT AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN CAREENING LEFT TOWARD THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN BRAKING. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND EXIT SAFELY. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE FRONT WHEELS WERE POINTING IN SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS, AND THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL WAS MOVED SIGNIFICANTLY BACK IN ITS WELL TOWARD THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS, IT WAS IMMEDIATELY CLEAR THAT THE FRONT LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL (CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V550000) ON THE LCA FOR THIS VEHICLE, LOCATED IN MICHIGAN, AND THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED BY A DEALERSHIP. THIS FAILURE WAS AFTER THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED. APPARENTLY THIS LCA DIDN'T MEET THE CRITERIA FOR REPLACEMENT, AND WAS "RUSTPROOFED" INSTEAD. THE RUSTPROOFING DID NOT PREVENT THIS LCA FROM FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 104,000 MILES. HAD I BEEN TRAVELING FASTER, OR HAD THERE BEEN AN ONCOMING CAR, THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE OR EVEN FATAL. I DID RECEIVE A MILD INJURY TO MY RIGHT WRIST WHEN THE WHEEL JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE TENDON IS HYPER-EXTENDED AND REQUIRES THAT I WEAR A WRIST BRACE.

JANUARY 2007 WE PURCHASED A KIA SEDONA BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY FEATURES FOR ALL PASSENGERS, AN IMPORTANT FEATURE BECAUSE I TRANSPORT CHILDREN. IN APRIL OF 2007 WE WERE HIT BY A MINI VAN IN THE FRONT PASSENGER QUARTER PANEL. THE ACCIDENT CAUSED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, WHICH WAS A CONCERN. 2016 WE WERE IN ANOTHER ACCIDENT WHILE TURNING A CORNER. THIS TIME WE WERE HIT IN THE REAR (3RD ROW) PASSENGER QUARTER PANEL BY A PICK UP. WE WERE HIT HARD ENOUGH TO PUSH OUR VAN INTO THE OTHER LANE, ENDING UP JUMPING A CURB & LANDING IN THE GRASS. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, WHICH REALLY UPSET ME! THE REAR HATCH LOOKED LIKE SOMEONE HAD OPENED IT THEN SHUT IT WITH A LIGHT POLE LAYING ACROSS IT. OUR INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE VAN AND ASKED US TO GO AND GET OUR THINGS OUT. I PUT TOWELS ON ALL THE SEATS TO KEEP IT CLEAN. THE 3RD ROW SEAT BACK (WHERE IT WAS HIT) WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL AND I COULD NOT REMOVE THE TOWEL FROM IT. THE FRAME OF THE VAN HAD BEEN PUSHED INTO THE SEAT! THE CURTAIN AIR BAG HAD NOT DEPLOYED! I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THE MANAGER TOLD ME THERE WAS NOT A CURTAIN AIR BAG IN MY VAN! AFTER SEARCHING THE PAPERWORK I RECEIVED WITH IT, I FOUND THAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE CURTAIN AIR BAG COVERING 2ND & 3RD ROW SEATS. I AM COMPLETELY CONFUSED AND VERY UPSET BECAUSE I NORMALLY TRANSPORT A 18 MONTH OLD IN THE 3RD ROW SEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE! IF SHE HAD BEEN IN HER CAR SEAT, SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN HURT BADLY. NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF AN AIR BAG FAILURE BUT GLASS SPLINTERS. I GOT AT LEAST A DOZEN PIECES OF GLASS IN MY HANDS, AND ONE TOOK 2 DAYS TO GET OUT! I RESEARCHED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANYMORE COMPLAINTS A OUT AIRBAG FAILURE AND FOUND SEVERAL. WE REPLACED OUR VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER MAKE. I SURE WISH THAT THE KIA SEDONA WOULD HAVE DONE WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. AND I AM HOPING THAT KIA CORRECTED THE ISSUES.

MY 2006 KIA SEDONA AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEN GO OFF AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MILES OR A COUPLE DAYS AND THIS HAPPENED PERIODICALLY ON AND OFF FOR A COUPLE YEARS. IT HAS NOW STAYED ON FOR THE LAST 4 MONTHS. TURNED ON THE VAN ONE DAY AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT NEVER WENT OFF. WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY ON A FLAT SURFACE. MY VAN HAD A HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE THOUSAND MILES ON IT WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON AND NOW HAS A HUNDRED AND FIFTY-THREE THOUSAND MILES. I BOUGHT THIS AS A NEW VAN IN 2007. IT WAS A LEFT OVER. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT BULBS AND TURN SIGNAL BULBS ON THE FRONT OVER 10 TIMES SINCE I'VE OWNED IT. THIS ALSO SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE THAT PEOPLE HAVE STATED WITH A 2006 KIA SEDONA.
OIL LEAKS FROM VALVE COVER GASKET AND TIMING COVER GASKET CAUSE OIL TO DROP ON THE ALTERNATOR. THIS OIL RESIDUE CAUSES THE ALTERNATOR TO STOP WORKING AND IN TURN THE BATTERY DIES. MY VEHICLE HAS STOPPED ABRUPTLY ON THE FREEWAY THREE TIMES DUE TO THIS ISSUE, WHEN ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE VEHICLE IS ABRUPTLY DISABLED WITH VERY LESS WARNING AND REACTION TIME. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND IF NOT FOR MY ALERTNESS AND QUICK REACTION, MY FAMILY WOULD HAVE BEEN A TRAFFIC HAZARD AND ACCIDENT PRONE. THIS A MANUFACTURING OR PART RELATED DEFECT ON KIA SEDONAS. MY MECHANICS HAVE CONFIRMED SEEING THIS ON OTHER KIA SEDONAS. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY STILL HAS THIS PROBLEM AND I AM TRYING TO GET KIA TO ADDRESS IT.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR MONTHS. NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT OF ANY KIND. IT WON'T GO OUT. LOOKS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE 2006 KIA'S. READING ONLINE THAT YOUR AIRBAGS WON'T WORK IF THE LIGHT IS ON. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT. APPARENTLY OUR GOVERNMENT IS NOT PUTTING ANY PRESSURE ON KIA TO DO A RECALL ON THIS! CAN'T AFFORD THE HIGH PRICE TO GET IT FIXED! WILL SELL THE CAR INSTEAD IF I HAVE TO. JUST TURNED OVER 100K ON IT. FIGURES. TOO BAD. I REALLY LIKE THIS CAR.

THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TAKATA RECALL MY AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME.. SAW A SHOW LAST NIGHT ABOUT THE TAKATA AIR BAGS EXPLODING NOT AT ALL SURE HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY SO THE DATE BELOW IS NOT ACCURATE IT HAS BEEN A COUPLE YEARS I THINK. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY MILES BUT IT IS 140,000 NOW.
FRONT CHASSIS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND I CHANGE 2 ALTERNATOR AND BATERRY LESS DAM A YEAR IS NOT SAFE CASUE THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN AND THE PEDAL BRAKE GETA HARD TO STOP THE VAN AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT KEEP ON ALL THE TIME

THE CONTACT PLACED AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD BEFORE COMING TO AN ABRUPT STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE WITH AN ABNORMAL ODOR FROM THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RELATIVE'S RESIDENCE. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REMEDIED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V550000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED....UPDATED 03-10-16 *BF *CN
KIA ISSUED A RECALL IN 2013 FOR RUSTING CONTROL ARMS CAUSING THEM TO BRAKE. NOV 1, 2014 AT 109000 MILES KIA DID NOT REPLACE MY CONTROL ARMS BUT ONLY COATED THEM. ON NOV 5, 2015 THE LEFT CONTROL ARM BROKE FROM RUSTING THRU. WHEN THE CONTROL ARM BROKE IT CAUSED THE AXEL TO BRAKE AND THE STRUT TO BEND AS MY WHEELS WERE GOING IN TWO DIRECTIONS. I HAD NO CONTROL IN STEERING AND WAS LEFT SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD COMING FROM THE TURNPIKE. I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 30 MPH BUT THREE MINUTES FROM ENTERING THE PA TURNPIKE WHERE MY SPEED WOULD HAVE BEEN 55 ' 65 MPH. HAD I REACHED THOSE SPEEDS I WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED. KIA HAS NOT ADEQUATELY TAKEN CARE OF THE KNOW PROBLEMS THAT THE CONTROL ARM IS RUSTING. THEY DID NOT DO THEIR JOB IN PROTECTING ME DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. KIA RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY DID THE RECALL AND TAKE IT UP WITH THE DEALER THAT DID THE WORK. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM BUT AT MY EXPENSE. IF MY CONTROL BROKE HOW SOON WILL OTHER CONTROL ARMS BRAKE WHICH MIGHT CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. KIA NEEDS TO RELOOK AT THIS PROBLEM AND REPLACE THE CONTROL ARMS BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.
KIA HAD A RECALL ON THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS FOR ROTTING OUT, I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUE IN THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM, IT TOO BEING ROTTED OUT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY RUST AND CORROSION OF THE CONTROL ARM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V550000 (SUSPENSION); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROL ARM, FRONT AXLE, AND TIE ROD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, THE DOORS AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY AND THE ALARM SYSTEM SOUNDED WITHOUT WARNING. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE OVER 55 MPH, THE STEERING LOCKED. EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF, AND THEN RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER DID NOT TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO SEE IF THE FAILURE COULD BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V389000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG WIRE HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
INTERMITTENT FAILURE TO START. DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN THE FUSE BOX (I PERSONALLY TALKED TO KIA WHO READ THE SERVICE BULLETIN TO ME) THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM LOCKS DOWN THE CAR RENDERING IT INOPERABLE. THE INTERNET IS LOADED WITH THIS SAME COMPLAINT EVEN TO THE POINT OF OFFERING A SOLUTION TO JUMP ACROSS THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM. IN TALKING TO KIA, THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM BUT SAID THAT UNLESS THERE WAS A GOVERNMENT RECALL THEY WOULD DO NOTHING FOR IT. IT BOTHERS ME THAT THEY WON'T ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR DEFECT. IT BOTHERS ME MORE THAT MY WIFE COULD BE STRANDED SOMEWHERE BECAUSE HER CAR WOULDN'T START. DO I HAVE ANY OTHER RECOURSE SINCE IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND KIA WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT UNLESS I COULD REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHICH WAS IMPOSSIBLE SINCE IT IS INTERMITTENT
I HAVE REPLACED THE SWAY BARS 3 TIMES IN 2 YEARS.
MY KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND I CANNOT REMOVE THE KEY. THE CAR WILL START AND IS DRIVABLE, BUT WHEN I STOP THE CAR AND PUT IN PARK THEN TURN OFF, I CANNOT REMOVE THE KEY. I HAVE TO LEAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION.

BECAUSE OF FAILURE OF REPLACEMENT PART, DEALER CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY. BECAUSE THIS IS AN UNUSUAL MALFUNCTION OF KNOWN FAULTY SYSTEM, I SUSPECT OTHER DEFECTS CONTRIBUTING TO BRAKE SWITCH FAILURE.

I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN IN MY 2006 KIA SEDONA WHEN ANOTHER DRIVER PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING ME TO APPLY THE BRAKES, AT WHICH TIME I LOST CONTROL OF THE VAN WHICH NEARLY ROLLED OVER. I LATER LEARNED THAT WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY BROKE DUE TO RUST WHICH IS WHAT CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL. THANKFULLY, THE VAN CAME TO A STOP BUT ONLY BECAUSE THE WHEEL BROKE AND BECAME LODGED. HAD THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS INJURIES OR FATALITIES. CORROSION ON THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS PART OF A RECALL ISSUED IN NOVEMBER 2013. ON FEBRUARY 20, 2014 (BEFORE I OWNED THE VAN), THE VAN WAS TAKEN TO A KIA SERVICE CENTER FOR SERVICE RELATED TO THE RECALL. A RUSTPROOF COATING WAS APPLIED TO THE REAR CONTROL ARMS AND THE FRONT WERE VISUALLY INSPECTED AND DETERMINED TO BE FINE. JUST OVER A YEAR LATER THE PART DETERMINED TO BE "SAFE," BROKE FROM SIMPLY APPLYING THE BRAKES WHICH VERY EASILY COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES. I CONTACTED KIA ON MAY 22, 2015. AS OF JUNE 3, 2015 (13 DAYS SINCE THE INCIDENT) I AM STILL AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM KIA AS TO WHAT CORRECTIVE ACTION THEY WILL TAKE.
