TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH OR GREATER, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON THREE OCCASIONS AND THEY CHANGED THE ROTORS, ROTATED THE TIRES, AND REPLACED THE FRONT WHEELS. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE TRANSMISSION TYPE WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,345.
MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR; I BOUGHT MY 2006 KIA SEDONA BRAND NEW IN DECEMBER. WHEN I BEGAN TO USE THE AC IN THE SPRING, THE DRIVER SIDE WAS NOT PRODUCING THE SAME COLD AIR AS THE PASSENGER SIDE OR THE BACK AC. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP TWICE, THE SECOND TIME I WAS TOLD THAT I MUST HAVE HAD A COLLISION WITH SOME ROAD DEBRIS AND CAUSED THE DEFECT. THEY STATED THEY PUT FREON IN AND "IT RAN OUT AS FAST AS WE PUT IT IN" ~ I STATED FREON IS A GAS ~ SHOULDN'T IT HAVE EVAPORATED? THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $1100 TO FIX IT, AND I STATED WHAT ABOUT MY WARRANTIES, THEY STATED THAT BECAUSE IT WAS MY FAULT THAT I HAD TO PAY. THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY, WHEN I DID THIS THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT IT WOULD BE LISTED AS A COLLISION AND MY INSURANCE PREMIUMS WOULD GO UP. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE, I WAS DRIVING HOME IN 100+ DEGREE TEMPS, THROUGH RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WITH MY INFANT; THE AC AIR WAS HOTTER THAN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE. (I ACTUALLY MADE THE MANAGER OF THE STORE COME OUTSIDE TO FEEL THE AIR BEFORE LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP.) I TOOK MY KIA TO A SECOND DEALERSHIP WHO CLEARLY STATED AS SOON AS THEY LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE, "OH THAT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT", BUT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP (WHERE I BOUGHT MY KIA) HAD PUT INTO THE COMPUTER THAT I HAD CAUSED THE PROBLEM, KIA WOULD NOT WARRANTY MY PART. SO MUCH FOR THE WARRANTY AND EXTENDED WARRANTY!! NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE SECOND DEALERSHIP ADDED FREON AND MY VEHICLE STILL HAS COLD AIR, THAT WAS 9 MONTHS AGO! THE FIRST DEALERSHIP WAS ALSO SUPPOSED TO FIX MY HANDLES AND HOOD; WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY VEHICLE, THE HOOD PAINT WAS MESSED UP AND THE PLASTIC ON THE HANDLES WAS MELTED ON. IT TOOK 2 TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE WORKMANSHIP SUBSTANDARD! THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHANGE OUT MY HANDLES, INSTEAD THEY DECIDED TO REPAINT MY HANDLES, WHAT A JOB THEY DID!! THEY USED SPRAY PAINT AND GOT DROPLETS ALL ON MY INSIDE DOOR PANELS! I'M FINISHED WITH KIA PRODUCTS! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. THE HEADLIGHTS ON BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BURN OUT APPROXIMATELY 2-3 TIMES A YEAR. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY FIVE TIMES. SOMETIMES THE MECHANICS REPLACE THE BULB, AND OTHER TIMES THEY WILL REFUSE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. ON THE LAST VISIT TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE BOLT FOR FREE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONTACT BELIEVES IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
DURING HARDER BRAKING IN A KIA SEDONA VAN, THE SECOND ROW SEAT FLIPPED FORWARD AND CLOBBERED THE DRIVER'S (MINE) HEAD. I WAS SO STARTLED THAT I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW SECONDS. NOTHING WAS HIT. THIS WAS BECAUSE THE SECOND ROW SEATS FLIP FORWARD TO ALLOW REAR ENTRY BUT THEY DO NOT NECESSARILY RE-LATCH WHEN PUTTING THEM UPRIGHT AGAIN, EITHER FROM A LACK OF RE-LATCHING FORCE OR DEBRIS/CARPET INTERFERENCE WITH THE LATCH. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2006 KIA SEDONA VAN. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD A KNOCKING SOUND ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, UNDER THE HOOD. SHE WAS TOLD BY A TIRE MANUFACTURER AND A MECHANIC THAT THE CV JOINTS AND MOTOR MOUNTS WERE CAUSING THE KNOCKING SOUND. FROM 0 - 5 MPH, WHEN SHE TURNS OR BRAKES, OR WHEN THE VEHICLE MOVES FORWARD OR BACKWARDS IT MAKES THE KNOCKING SOUND. THE WEATHER IS NOT A FACTOR. THE KNOCKING WAS CONSTANT AND GOT LOUDER UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE BOTH 14,289 MILES.
I WAS IN A PARKING LOT ONCE AGAIN, LOADING MY CHILDREN IN THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE 2006 KIA SEDONA THAT WE HAVE, AND WHEN I WENT TO SHUT THE DOOR, IT BOUNCED BACK OPEN FIVE TIMES WITHOUT LATCHING...THIS WILL MAKE THE FOURTH TIME THAT WE ARE GOING TO TAKE IT IN TOMORROW MORNING FOR DOOR PROBLEMS...THIS WILL MAKE THE THIRD TIME THAT WE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR BOUNCING BACK OPEN, AND NOT LATCHING. BIG SAFETY ISSUES THAT NEED ADDRESSED SOON! THE FIRST TIME TAKEN IN, PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED...SECOND TIME, THE SERVICE DEPT INSTALLED NEW CABLES IN BOTH SLIDING DOORS, THE THIRD TIME WAS FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR, THAT WAS STUCK OPEN AND WOULD NOT SHUT AT ALL AND HAD TO DRIVE DOWN A BUSY STREET THAT WAY...THEY FOUND A CABLE NUT THAT WAS UNPLUGGED IN THE DOOR AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THAT, BUT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANY PROOF OF MY VEHICLE BEING IN THE SERVICE DEPT WHILE I WENT TO PICK UP THE VAN FROM OBRIEN...SERVICE GUY KEPT SAYING HE WOULD PUT MY PAPERS IN THE MAIL....SOUNDS KINDA FISHY TO ME....AND NOW THIS (DOORS BOUNCING OPEN AGAIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE) I HAVE TWO VERY SMALL CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN THE TWO SEATS THERE, BUT THE SERVICE DEPT AND OBRIEN DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THAT...SO, WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN THE MORNING!
I WAS OUT SHOPPING WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD TWINS AND MY MOTHER AND WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT LOADING OUR STUFF IN THE 2006 KIA SEDONA ONCE AGAIN AND THE VAN DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. IT WAS STUCK OPEN....WE WAITED IN THE KROGER PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT 2 AND 1/2 HOURS WHILE NO ONE AT OBRIEN KIA WOULD COME AND GET MYSELF AND MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN, AND THE DOOR WAS WIDE OPEN, AND IT WAS STARTING TO GET DARK OUT AND THE BREEZE WAS PICKING UP...WE HAVE HAD THE VAN IN OBRIEN 2 OTHER TIMES FOR THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR BOUNCING BACK OPEN AND NOT LATCHING (BIG SAFETY ISSUE, AND NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WON'T EVEN SHUT (ANOTHER BIG SAFETY ISSUE) WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR...WHO'S TO SAY IT WON'T HAPPEN WHILE WE ARE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN IS IT GOING TO ACTUALLY GOING TO GET FIXED, OR DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET KILLED FIRST!!!! A RECEPTIONIST FROM OBRIEN FINALLY CAME ABOUT 2 1/2 HOURS LATER AND DROVE MY CAR DOWN A BUSY STREET WITH THE SIDE DOOR STILL OPEN AND THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF, AND TOOK IT TO THE SHOP TO BE FIXED, AND I NOW HAVE A RENTAL CAR AGAIN. THEY SAY IT WILL GET FIXED THIS TIME AGAIN! *JB
ON MY BRAND NEW KIA SEDONA BOTH HEADLIGHTS AND ONE TURN SIGNAL QUIT WORKING. THIS HAPPENED WITH LESS THAN 500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A BAD HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE. THIS TOOK APPROXIMATELY A WEEK TO GET REPAIRED. THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH A VERY ANNOYING AND VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THE KIA SEDONA PULLED TO THE LEFT. WHILE NOT TOO NOTICEABLE ON CITY STREETS IT I WAS VERY NOTICEABLE ON THE FREEWAY, AND IF THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EVER LET GO FOR A SECOND THE CAR PULLED TO THE LEFT ,RIGHT TOWARD THE FREEWAY MEDIAN. MY HANDS AND ARMS GET TIRED HOLDING THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT ON LONG TRIPS. TO ME, THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.* THE PROBLEM BEGAN IN MARCH 2007, AND HAS GOTTEN INCRESINGLY WORSE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY PRIVATE MECHANIC ONCE FOR A FRONT END ALIGNMENT, HE SAID IT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING, BUT IT STILL PULLED TO THE LEFT!). I HAVE THEN TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID THEY ADJUSTED SOMETHIN AT NO CHANGE. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE RIGHTSIDE STRUT AT NO CHANGE. THE THIRD TIME THEY CLAIMED THEY ADJUSTED THE LEFTSIDE STRUT AT NO CHANGE.*AK MY CAR IS NOW GOING BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A FOURTH TIME, TO GET ITS LEFT STRUT REPLACED. I AM NOT CONVINCED THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OTHER POSTINGS (BOTH HERE, AND IN OTHER FORUMS) THAT ALL HAVE THE EXACT SAME COMPAINT: 2006 KIA SEDONA PULLS TO THE LEFT. WHILE THE DEALER HAS BEEN PATIENT-- THEY ARE ALSO CLUELESS AND HAVE SUPPOSEDLY NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME I WAS IN, THEY MADE ME TAKE THEIR MECHANIC FOR A RIDE, WHICH I WAS GLAD TO DO, TO PROVE TO HIM THAT THE CAR VEERS TO THE LEFT. THE MECHANIC STARTED USING EXCUSES LIKE "OH, THE ROAD SLOPES LEFT, SO THAT'S WHY IT DOES THAT" AND ALSO "THIS MODEL HAS TORQUE-STEERING, SO THIS IS NORMAL". IN MY OPINION, THIS DEMANS A RECALL. PERSONALLY, I AM BEGINNING THE PROCESS OF TAKING ADVANTAGE OF WISCONSIN'S LEMON LAW - WHICH STATES THAT 4 REPAIRS FOR THE SAME THING IN THE FIRST YEAR QUALIFY THE CAR AS A LEMON.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOORS WOULD NOT STAY OPEN AND WOULD CLOSE WITHOUT WARNING. THIS FAILURE HAS CAUSED BRUISES ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER LUBRICATED THE LATCHES ON THE DOOR, BUT THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE DOOR CONTINUED TO CLOSE WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE DOORS WOULD CLOSE IF THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 7,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
BULBS CONSTANTLY GOING OUT. LOTS OF FRONT END ISSUES WITH NOISES, CLUNKING MOSTLY. DIFFICULTY SEEING DUE TO BLIND SPOT WHERE FRONT WINDOW AND DOORS MEET AND WHERE FRONT DOORS AND BACK SLIDING DOOR MEETS.
FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM PROBLEM - PADS AND ROTOR WEAR OUT QUICKLY. POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AS RECALL WARRANTED. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THIS IS PROBLEM WITH SAME MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THE PROPER GEAR. THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE IN NEUTRAL WHEN THIS OCCURS. PRIOR TO AND DURING THE FAILURE, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR IS NOT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND PROVIDE A SUFFICIENT REMEDY. JUST PURCHASED NEW 2006 KIA SEDONA VAN(CURRENT MILES 512) AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS(SAFETY CONCERN) VAN HAS POWER DOOR LOOKS. KIA CUST. SERVICE SAYS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ALONG WITH THE LOCAL DEALER. HYUNDAI(SISTER COMPANY)ON THEIR ENTOURAGE VAN DOES HAVE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOOKS. I HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH MY HYUNDAI 2006 SONATA WHERE IN IT ALSO CAME WITHOUT AUTO DOOR LOOKS AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WITH IN 20 MIN. THEY DID A REPROGRAM OF THE COMPUTER AND NOW IT HAS AUO DOOR LOOKS. SINCE THE KIA & HYUNDAI ARE ON THE SAME PLATFORM, SAME ENGINE TRANSMISSION I BELIEVE THE SITUATION CAN BE CORRECTED BY A SIMPLE PROGRAM CHANGE THAT THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. SAFETY OF INTERNAL PASSENGERS AND CHILDREN IS MOST IMPORTANT AND THIS DEFECT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT ACCELERATED TO 30 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY CONTINUOUSLY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 2,600 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,720.
HAVE HAD OUR 2006 KIA SEDONA VAN IN THE SHOP FOR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR NOT CLOSING...I WILL GO TO CLOSE THE DOOR, AND THE DOOR SLIDES RIGHT BACK OPEN AND DOESN'T EVEN LATCH. THIS HAS HAPPENED TOO MANY TIMES TOO COUNT NOW, AND THIS IS A BRAND NEW VAN. THIS IS VERY SCARY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW IF IT IS GOING TO FLY OPEN WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH YOUR KIDS IN THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, AN HOUR AFTER I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THAT DAY, I WAS STUCK IN A WAL-MART PARKING LOT WITH MY KIDS IN THE VAN AND TRYING TO GET THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR TO SHUT WHILE IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE AGAIN! HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM IF YOU ASK ME AND MY FAMILY! WE WERE JUST OUTSIDE AGAIN TONIGHT IN FREEZING TEMPS WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD GIRLS AND STOOD OUTSIDE IN A PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT A 1/2 HOUR TRYING TO GET THE DOOR TO STAY SHUT. *JB
MY 2006 KIA SEDONA CONTINUES TO HAVE SHAKING IN THE FRONT WHEELS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT THE DEALERSHIPS THROUGHOUT THE OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE. THE LATEST PROBLEM IS A HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT IN HIS OPINION IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT. I CONTACTED KIA AND THEY ARE SAYING NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. HOW IS SOMETHING LIKE A FUEL LINE THAT IS INSIDE OF A FUEL TANK "NORMAL" WEAR AND TEAR? NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR WOULD APPLY TO BRAKES AND OTHER SUCH THINGS. CONSUMERS DON'T JUST GO TO THE LOCAL AUTO REPAIR PLACE TO HAVE A FUEL LINE MAKING NOISE FIXED ON A ROUTINE BASIS. THIS CAR WAS REPORTED UNDER THE VA. LEMON LAW PROCESS IN 2007. OF COURSE, KIA BEING THE BIG GUY IN THIS WON. YET, STILL TODAY THE SAME CONDITIONS EXIST AND MORE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I AM PAYING FOR A SERVICE AND KIA HAS FAILED AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. SOME OF THE OTHER PROBLEMS INCLUDE: 1. SLIDING DOORS STICK 2. DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ONLY LOCKS ON OCCASION WITH REMOTE 3. THE HORN IS TERRIBLE 4. LUMBAR SUPPORT ON DRIVERS SEAT JUST BROKE ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING 5. TENSIONERS FOR TIMING BELT CHANGED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING VEHICLE 6. FUEL TANK IS MAKING NOISE? HUMMING 7. I BOUGHT MY 2006 KIA SEDONA BRAND NEW. AFTER TAKING DELIVERY OF IT, MY FAMILY AND I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME. AS WE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, WE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A MISFIRE OF THE ENGINE. WE DROVE IT ANOTHER MILE OR SO, THINKING THE GLITCH WOULD REMEDY ITSELF. UPON STOPPING AT ANOTHER INTERSECTION, WE OBSERVED THE SAME MISFIRE/TREMBLING AS BEFORE. NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS HAPPENING, WE DROVE HOME. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER THAT SAME NIGHT. THE DEALER WAS VERY APOLOGETIC, AND OFFERED US A USED COMPETITOR'S MINIVAN AS TRANSPORTATION UNTIL THEY RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE TWO DAYS LATER. THEY HAD A SERVICE BULLETIN INDICATING OF A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE SPARK PLUGS. KNOWING THIS INFORMATION IN ADVANCE, THE DEALERSHIP COULD HAVE AVOIDED AN EMBARRASSMENT BY REPLACING THE PROBLEM SPARK PLUGS ON ALL THEIR MINIVANS, INSTEAD OF WAITING TO HAVE AN UPSET CUSTOMER WALK UP TO THEM AND LETTING THEM KNOW THERE WAS A PROBLEM. SERVICE BULLETINS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS THE DEALERSHIP RECEIVES THEM, NOT WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT IS CALLING TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURE OF HIS VEHICLE DOES NOT MAKE SEAT BELT EXTENDER AND HE FINDS THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS AN ISSUE WITH THE LAW, SINCE THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REQUIRES ALL DRIVERS TO WEAR SEAT BELTS. WHEN HE SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURE TO SEE IF HE CAN GET A SEAT BELT EXTENDERS THEY STATED THAT THEY DON'T MAKE THEM AND THAT THEY DO ONLY WHAT IS REQUIRED BY THE FEDERAL GUIDELINE. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT NEXT STEP HE CAN TAKE TO RESOLVE HIS SEAT BELT ISSUE.
WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE GAS ALMOST ALWAYS SPURTS OUT OF THE GAS CAP OPENING. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER I LET THE NOZZLE ON AUTO FILL OR IF I MANUALLY HOLD THE GAS NOZZLE. IT HAPPENS IF THE GAS FLOW IS SLOW OR FAST. I HAVE MET OTHERS WITH THE SAME TYPE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT NO ONE HAS BOTHERED TO REPORT IT. THE GAS HAS SPURTED OUT ON MY HAND, MY GLOVES, MY CLOTHES, AND MY SHOES. I HAVE LEARNED TO STAND SLIGHTLY BACK AND IT THEN SPILLS OVER THE SIDE OF MY CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND. I PURCHASED A 2006 KIA SEDONA IN AUGUST, 2006. ON 08-14-2006 IT WAS RETURNED FOR MALFUNCTION OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM, REPAIRS WERE MADE. I ALSO STATED TO THEM THAT IT WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT, WHICH TO THIS DAY THEY HAVE NOT CORRECTED. ON 11-13-2006 AT APPROX. 3,300 MILES THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE VAN BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND CUT OUT. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER( MISFIRE IN CYCLINDER)AND REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VAN WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AGAIN ON 01-03-2007(SCANNED SYSTEM, COULD NOT FIND CODE),01-18-2007(MULTIPLE MISFIRES),02-08-2007(RANDOM MISFIRES. ALSO REPAIRED SHORTED OUT HOT WIRE TO DRIVER'S SIDE PARKING LIGHT),04-09-2007(THEY STATED THAT THE GAS CAP WAS LOOSE, EVEN THOUGH THE VAN IS SKIPPING),04-12-2007 (RANDOM MISFIRES). AFTER SENDING A FINAL REPAIR ATTEMPT LETTER TO KIA THEY PICKED MY VEHICLE UP ON 04-23-2007 AND BROUGHT TECHS IN FROM CALIFORNIA TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM. I WAS GOING TO PICK MY VAN UP ON THURSDAY 04-26-2007 BUT KIA CALLED AND STATED THAT AFTER THEY TEST DROVE IT THE ENGINE LIGHT ONCE AGAIN CAME ON. THEY STATED THAT THEY HOPE TO HAVE IT RESOLVED ON 04-27-2007. ON 04-27-2007 THEY HOPE TO HAVE IT RESOLVED ON 04-30-2007. ON 04-30-2007 THEY HOPE TO HAVE IT RESOLVED ON 05-01-2007. ON 05-01-2007 THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD BE PULLING OUT THE DRIVE TRAIN TO SHIP TO CALIFORNIA AND IN TURN KIA/CALIFORNIA WOULD BE SHIPPING A NEW ONE. NOW THEY HOPE TO HAVE IT RESOLVED ON FRIDAY, MAY 4, 2007. I HAVE MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS/ISSUES REGARDING THIS VEHICLE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SEVERE ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL PROBLEMS AND THIS VEHICLE IS NOT STABLE/SAFE ENOUGH TO BE ROADWORTHY. THE PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP ARE WONDERFUL AND UNDERSTANDING TO MY CONCERNS, HOWEVER KIA MOTORS OF AMERICA DOES NOT SEEM TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUES AS A CONCERN. I AM STILL PURSUING THIS ISSUES BETWEEN MYSELF AND KIA, BUT THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH HASSLE TO GO THROUGH TO TRY TO KEEP MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHER MOTORIST SAFE AGAINST THIS VEHICLE BEING ON THE ROAD. *TR
ON MORE THAN FOUR OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS VAN AND WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE REVVED , BUT THE VAN DID NOT MOVE. TWO OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN WHILE MERGING ONTO INTERSTATE 95, ONCE ON US ROUTE 1 AND ANOTHER MERGING ON TO ROUTE 234. ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION MY ONE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE VEHICLE. IT WAS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD TO MERGE ON TO INTERSTATE 95 IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR WHILE TRAFFIC WAS MOVING AT 65 MPH PLUS AND NOT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE. IN ONE INSTANCE THERE WAS A TRACTOR TRAILER COMING UP BEHIND ME, AND I HAD TO CUT OFF ANOTHER VEHICLE TRYING TO MERGE IN ORDER TO GET BACK OFF ON TO THE RAMP THAT I JUST MERGED OFF. THE FIRST TIME WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IS WAS A SPEED CONTROL SENSOR, THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID IT WAS LOW ON TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE THIRD TIME THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. WE HAVE A CASE NUMBER WITH KIA MOTORS, AND HAVE REQUESTED A BUY BACK UNDER THE VIRGINIA LEMON LAWS. WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER TODAY AND STILL HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM OUR CASE WORKER WITH KIA DESPITE A CALL ASKING IF WE SHOULD PICK UP THE VEHICLE OR NOT. *AK

ON TWO OCCASIONS, THE DEALER REPLACED THE RUBBER STRIPPING ON THE FRONT AND REAR WINDOWS; HOWEVER, THE FRONT WINDOWS WERE NOT SEALED PROPERLY. THE CONTACT HAS TO CLEAN THE WINDOWS MANUALLY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WINDOWS WERE DESIGNED TO REPEL WATER, NOT REMOVE IT FROM THE WINDOW. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

HOWEVER, IT RE-OPENED IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DEALER RESET THE COMPUTER. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY DID A RE-LEARN. APPROXIMATELY SEVEN MONTHS LATER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE WHEN THE BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED. SHE WAS FORCED TO CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE ONCE MORE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 15,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 350.

THE MOLDING ACTUALLY SEPARATES FROM THE WINDOW AND REDUCES VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THE MOLDING WAS REPLACED TWICE. THE FAILURE WAS CORRECTED ON THE REAR WINDOWS, BUT STILL PERSISTS ON THE FRONT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MOLDING WAS CREATED TO SIMPLY REPEL WATER; HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE CASE IN HER VEHICLE. I HAVE OWNED MY 2006 KIA SEDONA SINCE AUGUST 2006. DURING THAT TIME, THE POWER SLIDING DOORS HAVE PROVED TO BE EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE AND POTENTIALLY UNSAFE. MOST OF THE TIME, THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. IT WILL POWER TO THE CLOSED POSITION, CONTINUE TRYING TO CLOSE (MAKING A GRINDING NOISE) AND THEN EITHER POP OPEN A COUPLE OF INCHES OR POWER OPEN AGAIN COMPLETELY. IT WILL THEN BEEP THREE TIMES. THIS HAPPENS ON FLAT SURFACES AND EVEN SLIGHT INCLINES. THE DOOR HAS OPENED WHILST DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE BEEN TO TWO DEALERS (MANY TIMES) WHO ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR HAVE TRIED MAKING "ADJUSTMENTS" TO THEM. I KEEP ON BEING TOLD THAT THE DOOR IS OPERATING AS PER DESIGN. WE AVOID USING THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR WHEN WE CAN. THIS PROBLEM HAS RECENTLY STARTED HAPPENING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AS WELL. JUDGING BY THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON BOTH THE 2006 (AND LATER) KIA SEDONA AND HYUNDAI ENTOURAGE (EXACTLY THE SAME VEHICLE) ON THE ODI WEBSITE, AND NUMEROUS INTERNET NEWSGROUPS, THIS IS AFFECTING A LOT OF PEOPLE. I LOVE THE VAN, BUT AM COMPLETELY FED UP WITH THE POWER SLIDING DOORS AND WANT THEM FIXED. *TR
WE HAVE A 2006 KIA SEDONA MINIVAN AND FROM THE FIRST WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ON THIS VAN. THE PROBLEM IS SEVERE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE HOT. WHEN ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ALLOW THE VAN TO ROLL BACKWARD DOWN MY DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET. MY DRIVEWAY IS ON A STEEP INCLINE AND ALL MY OTHER VEHICLES HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES HOLDING THEM AT THE TOP OF MY DRIVEWAY. MY SEDONA HAS HAD A PROBLEM AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DEALERSHIP PEOPLE THAT IT HOLDS WHILE IN THE SHOP(ON LEVEL GROUND) AND THAT THE SYSTEMS IS WORKING AS IT SHOULD. THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ARE GETTING WORSE . WE ARE AFRAID THAT ONE DAY WHEN IT ROLLS BACK INTO THE STREET IT WILL HIT A CHILD WHO IS IN THE VANS BLIND SPOT. THE KIA FACTORY PEOPLE LACK THE TECHNICAL TRAINING TO UNDERSTAND BASIC BRAKING SYSTEMS AND THEIR CORRECT APPLICATION & FUNCTION. EMERGENCY BRAKES ARE MEANT TO HOLD ON AN INCLINE TO PREVENT THE VAN FROM ROLLING WHICH IN MY CASE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES HAVE FAILED TO PERFORM AS REQUIRED FROM THE VERY FIRST. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON MORE THAN 3 OCCASIONS, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO PULL TO THE LEFT. THE TREAD OF THE FRONT WHEELS HAD ABNORMAL WEAR. THE SERVICE DEALER HAD ROTATED THE TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A TECHNICIAN WAS SENT TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUED TO PULL TO THE LEFT.
I PURCHASED MY KIA SEDONA IN APRIL 2006. ON AVERAGE, FOUR TIMES A YEAR I WILL PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE RPM'S WILL GO UP BUT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD. I HAVE TO THEN RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND PRESS IT AGAIN FOR IT TO "CATCH" AND MOVE FORWARD. THE 1ST TIME WAS WHILE ON VACATION IN SAN DIEGO IN 2006. ON 4-5 OCCASIONS THE PROBLEM ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE REPORTED IT SEVERAL TIMES, BUT SINCE KIA CANNOT FIND A "CODE" THEY CLAIM THAT THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
FUEL LINE THAT RUNS UNDER THE VEHICLE BY THE GAS TANK WAS LEAKING. NOTHING BROUGHT THIS ABOUT. DID NOT HIT ANY CURBS OR POT HOLES IN THE ROAD. JUST STARTED LEAKING. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE PART. NOT SURE IF THEY ARE GOING TO CHARGE ME YET. HAVE YET TO PICK THE VEHICLE UP. HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED FROM MY HOUSE TO THE DEALER. FIRST HAD TO HAVE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CHECK FOR ANY HAZARD. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THAT TIME HE CONTINUED TO HAVE STALLING PROBLEMS. HE ALSO STATED THE BRAKES STARTED TO LOCK UP, STARTED SMOKING AND MAKING A RUMBLING NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS INFOMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR HIS VEHICLE WITH CAMPAING# 06V26500, FOR SERVICE BRAKES; FOUNDATION COMPONENTS; HOSES; LINES/ PIPING AND FITTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY REPLACED THAT RECALL ON 09/20/06. AFTER THAT THE CONTACT STATED THAT SOMETHING BURNED THE FUSE BOX IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE WIPERS AND LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AND HAD TO REPLACE THE FUSES ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID INFORM THE DEALERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM AND HE WAS INFOMED AGAIN BY THE DEALERSHIP OF A RECALL FOR CAMPAIGN# 06V349000 FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; WIRING. THE CONTACT DID CALL THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THE MANY PROBLEMS HE'S HAD WITH HIS NEW VEHICLE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE # K1213970. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE SPOKE TO TAVARES DAVIS AT THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL DISCUSS A BUY BACK FROM THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS COVERSATION TOOK PLACE IN 01/2006 AND MR. DAVIS HASN'T CALLED HIM BACK REGARDING THE BUY BACK. THE CONTACT DOES HAVE ALL REPAIR ORDERS THAT WERE DONE BY THE DEALERSHIP.
