OUR KIA SEDONA HAS EXHIBITED NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE POWER DOORS STOPPED WORKING WHEN WE PUSH THE BUTTON IN THE CONSOLE OR USE OUR KEYPAD. THE DOORS NO LONGER LOCK USING THE KEYPAD, EITHER. WE HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS HEADLIGHTS AND TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS, AND SEEM TO BE DOING SO EVERY OTHER MONTH LATELY. I AM SURPRISED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AS THE HEADLIGHT/TURN SIGNAL ISSUE IS VERY DANGEROUS. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I HAVE VIEWED, I WOULD URGE KIA TO INVESTIGATE AND OFFER CUSTOMERS A SOLUTION. *TR
ON AUGUST 12, 2008 I PICKED MY TO YOUNG CHILDREN UP 8 AND 4 FROM THE BABYSITTERS. BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE, IT KEPT OPENING AND SHUTTING ON ITS OWN. THEY FINALLY LATCHED AFTER 5 MINUTES OF TRYING. WHEN I LEFT AND THE FIRST RIGHT I CAME TO, THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING!!!! I INSTANTLY PULLED OVER AND STOPPED TRAFFIC FOR THIS. IT TOOK ME TO TURN THE POWER BUTTON OFF AND SHUT IT MANUALLY, HOWEVER THAT STILL DIDN'T WORK. THE DOOR CONTINUED TO COME OPEN UNTIL I GOT IT HOME. I CALLED KIA THE NEXT MORNING MY CAR WAS TOWED TO KIA, LATER THAT DAY I PICKED MY CAR UP WITH THEM REPLACING THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, THE OTHER PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THEN ON SEPTEMBER 3, I TOOK MY CAR IN TO HAVE THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR REPLACED ALONG WITH THE UPKEEP OF MISC. ITEMS TO MY CAR. HERE IT IS ON SEPTEMBER 8TH AND THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AGAIN. I VIDEO RECORDED AND CALLED KIA AGAIN. MY CAR CAN NOT BEE SEEN UNTIL WED. IT IS MONDAY. I BELIEVE KIA NEEDS TO REVIEW THERE POLICY AND PROCEDURES FOR RECALLS ON SAFETY ISSUES. I WORK IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY AND CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT JUST ONE NOTIFICATION OF DOORS OPENING IS 1 TO MANY. I HOPE THE KIA IS NOT WAITING FOR A DEATH TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE THEY CORRECT THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM DISGUSTED WITH THIS HAPPENING AGAIN EVEN AFTER THIS PART WAS REPLACED ON 9/3/08 AND IT IS 9/8/08. NOT ONLY AM I FILING THIS COMPLAINT ON THE WEB SITE BUT I WILL BE CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER AS WELL AS CONTACTING MY LOCAL TV STATION SO THAT THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IS ADDRESSED. *TR
AUGUST 12, 2008 AFTER PICKING MY CHILDREN, 8YRS OLD AND 4 YEARS OLD UP FROM THE BABYSITTER BOTH SLIDING DOORS WOULD SHUT AND REOPEN ON THEIR OWN. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO FINALLY GET BOTH DOORS SHUT BY SHUTTING OFF THE ELECTRONICS OF THE DOOR. HOWEVER WHEN I LEFT MY BABYSITTERS AND THE FIRST RIGHT TURN I MADE THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FLEW OPEN, WHILE MY SON WAS SITTING THERE. I CALLED KIA IN FORT WAYNE, MY CAR WAS TOWED THE NEXT DAY AND RETURNED TO ME ON THE 13TH WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL MODULE REPLACE. THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. ON SEPT. 3, 2008 MY DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. HERE IT IS SEPTEMBER 8, 2008 AND THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR IS DOING THIS AGAIN. I CALLED KIA IN FORT WAYNE AND THEY CAN GET MAR CAR IN ON WEDNESDAY. KIA FORT WAYNE I FEEL HAS DONE EVERYTHING THEY CAN AS FAR AS REPLACING THE PART, BUT THIS DOOR IS COMING OPEN WHILE I'M DRIVING, BECAUSE SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG. I HAVE VIDEO RECORDED THIS DOOR NO LATCHING AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED ON SEPTEMBER 8TH. I HOPE THAT KIA SERIOUSLY LOOKS INTO THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND PROCEEDING TO TURN LEFT, THE AUTOMATIC PASSENGER AND DRIVER SLIDING DOORS RELEASED UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE LATCH DETACHED AND WOULD NOT PROPERLY SECURE THE DOORS. THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN THE DOORS RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A MALFUNCTION WITH THE LATCH. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. OUR SEDONA VAN INTERMITTENTLY LOOSES ALL POWER. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE RPM'S DROP TO 1000RPM AND NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUSH DOWN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES TODAY. THE FIRST WAS UPON INITIAL START UP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ESC OFF LIGHT CAME ON. WE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WHEN WE RESTARTED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON, BUT THE CAR HAD POWER. WE DROVE IT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WERE 3 CODES ALL INDICATING LOW ENGINE VOLTAGE. THEY CLEARED THE CODES AND SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. LATTER IN THE DAY IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES. BOTH TIME WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. ONCE ONE THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND ONCE IN TOWN AT ABOUT 40MPH. EACH TIME WE COASTED TO A STOP AN TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO GET IT WORKING AGAIN. I WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER TOMORROW. *TR
MINIVAN SUDDENLY DROPS OUT OF DRIVE WHEN ACCELERATING ON HIGHWAY. HAS HAPPENED TWICE, GEAR SHIFT WAS IN PROPER POSITION. HAD TO EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PULL OFF HIGHWAY (COASTING) AND TURN OFF ENGINE AND RESTART. GEAR/PEDAL THEN REENGAGED AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT RECREATE PROBLEM. VERY CONCERNING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 35 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SUDDENLY OPENED AND THEN BEGAN TO CLOSE ELECTRONICALLY. THE DOOR CONTINUED TO OPEN AND CLOSE UNTIL THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DISCONNECT THE WIRING ON THE DEFECTIVE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT SERVICED FOR THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 71,124.
THE CARS AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN A COLLISION OR ANYTHING. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP YET BECAUSE OF LACK OF FUNDS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 KIA SEDONA. IT WAS BOUGHT USED IN 2007. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER BOTH SLIDING DOOR LATCHES BROKE. ONCE OPENED IN NORMAL EVERYDAY USE THE DOORS WOULD NO LONGER LATCH CLOSED. THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS THE FIRST TO GO. AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR REPEATEDLY AND HAVING IT BOUNCE BACK OPEN WE FINALLY GOT IT TO LATCH SHUT. WE THEN TIED THE DOOR SHUT UNTIL WE COULD GET IT IN TO BE SERVICED. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT THE DOOR AGAIN BOUNCED OPEN AS FAR AS THE ROPE WOULD LET IT. ON THE DAY BEFORE WE TOOK THE KIA INTO BE SERVICED THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR DID THE SAME THING. THANKFULLY THE KIA WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. NOTHING WE COULD DO, OTHER THAN TYING THE DOOR SHUT, WOULD GET THE DOOR TO LATCH. THIS IS A 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THE LATCHES SHOULD NOT BE HAVING PROBLEMS. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS INJURED OR WORSE, HOWEVER IF THE DOORS HAD FULLY OPENED WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT NORMAL SPEED SOMEONE COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN INJURED OR FALLEN OUT. *TR
YESTERDAY WE NOTICED A GASOLINE SMELL SURROUNDING OUR 2006 SEDONA VAN. TODAY, THE SMELL WAS NOTICEABLY STRONGER. THE VAN WAS TAKEN TO THE KIA DEALER WHO FOUND A HOLE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE TANK IS NOT CONSIDERED DEFECTIVE, AND WE ARE PAYING FOR A REPLACEMENT. THE DEALERS POSITION IS THAT THE TANK WAS HIT WITH SOMETHING TO CAUSE THE HOLE. I QUESTIONED HOW WE MIGHT HAVE HIT SOMETHING HARD ENOUGH TO PUNCTURE THE TANK WITHOUT NOTICING THE IMPACT. WITH THAT IN MIND, I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THAT KIA HAS HAD A NUMBER OF RECALLS FOR FUEL TANK PROBLEMS ON OTHER MODELS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS MODEL SHOULD ALSO BE INSPECTED TO DETERMINE IF THERE MAY BE A FLAW IN IT AS WELL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA LX. THE VEHICLE HAS A REMOTE STARTER MANUFACTURED BY AUDIOVOX, MODEL NUMBER PRO9556. WHEN THE CONTACT PRE-STARTED HER VEHICLE INSIDE HER HOME WITH THE DEVICE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE SWITCHED INTO GEAR. SHE DROVE BACKWARDS AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER PLACE OF RESIDENCE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STARTER DEVICE ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT INTO GEARS WITHOUT HAVING A KEY IN THE IGNITION WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS A CONSEQUENCE, THE VEHICLE COULD EASILY BE STOLEN AND INCREASED THE RISK OF A CRASH OR SERIOUS INJURY. SHE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE EQUIPMENT AND THE VEHICLE, BUT NEITHER SOURCES WOULD ASSUME LIABILITY. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE FAILED COMPONENT AND THE CRASH. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 40,000. UPDATED 12/11/08 *BF THE VEHICLE CAME OUT OF PARK WITHOUT THE KEYS BEING IN THE IGNITION. THERE WERE ALSO TIMES WHEN THE KEY WOULD GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE CONSUMER REALIZED THE VEHICLE COULD BE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE WITHOUT KEYS. UPDATED 12/11/08 .*JB
BOTH REAR SLIDING DOORS ON OUR 2006 KIA SEDONA HAVE ISSUES LATCHING. THEY CAN COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING, IF NOT TIED DOWN WELL. ONCE WE ARE ABLE TO GET THEM TO STAY SHUT THEY CANNOT BE OPENED OR THEY POP OPEN WHILE DRIVING OR DO NOT SHUT AT ALL WITHOUT BEING TIED DOWN. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME THE DOORS ARE OPENED FOR THE LAST MONTH. NO CORRECTION HAS BEEN ABLE TO BE DONE EXCEPT TYING THE DOOR SHUT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE ESC INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE ACCELERATOR FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. HE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER DRIVING ONE MILE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND RESET THE ESC COMPUTER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THIS IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000. POWER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR OPENS WITHOUT WARNING WHEN IN MOTION. DOES NOT DO THIS ALL THE TIME JUST OUT OF THE BLUE NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE DOORS AND AS WELL AS OTHER PROBLEMS. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE DOORS. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN 3, 7 AND 10 AND USE THE VEHICLE AS LITTLE A POSSIBLE AND NO LONGER TAKE THEIR FRIENDS AS WELL AS OUR DOG IN THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE KIA SEDONA EX IN JULY 14,2006 AND IT HAS ONLY 15,165.00 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND I DON'T BELIEVE THEY UNDERSTAND THE SERIOUSNESS OF MY PROBLEM. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE REGARDING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN CHAT ROOMS, IS ANYTHING BEING DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE? I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON A CASE THROUGH THE LEMON LAW. *TR
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE,CALLED TO HAVE PART REPLACED AND SHOP MANAGER SAID HE ORDERED PARTS BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHEN OR IF THEY WOULD COME IN, RECALL NOTICE SAYS WE MAY BE AT RISK FOR CRASH. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A LOT OF RECALLS PLUS CANT KEEP BRAKES OR ROTORS ON IT. DEFINATLY A LEMON. WILL TRY TO PERSUADE ANYONE NOT TO BUY A KIA. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND WAS UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE DAY BEFORE THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CHECK OIL LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 46,536.
LTER FROM CONSTITUENT COMPLAINT AND DEMAND FOR ACTION RE HER 2006 KIA SEDONA WHICH WITHOUT WARNING SHUT-DOWN DUE TO A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. *NJ THE DEALER STATED THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS DUE TO SLUDGE BUILD-UP. PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE, THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES WERE VIBRATING, NOISY AND THE VEHICLE WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE BRAKES AND ALL OF THE TIRE BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO RECOMMENDED AS ALIGNMENT. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP WHEN SHIFTING FRO FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE DEALER HAD TO ORDER AN INPUT SENSOR. *JB
2006 KIA SEDONA - FRONT BRAKE ROTORS REPLACED AT 8000 MILES DUE TO WARPING, AT 16000 MILES FRONT ROTORS AGAIN WARPED AND REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. NOT COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BECAUSE OF MORE THAT 12 MONTHS SINCE ROTORS WERE FIRST REPLACED. THIS WILL NOW BE THE THIRD SET OF FRONT ROTORS ON THIS VEHICLE IN TWO YEARS AND LESS THAN 20,000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 65-70 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY A DECEASE OF ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE SPEED RATE WOULD NOT EXCEED 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER WAITING A PERIOD OF TWENTY MINUTES AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE ACTIVE PIXEL SENSOR (APS) SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE TOTAL COMPONENTS REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE CONSISTED OF THE APS MODULE POOR PIN CONNECTION, THROTTLE BODY, AND GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLY. THE CONTACT NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SAFETY HAZARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,099. JS
FRONT END FAILURE OF SWAY BAR LINKS ON MY 2006 KIA SEDONA MINI VAN. WE BOUGHT THE VAN IN SEPT OF 2007 AS A USED VAN WITH ABOUT 20,000 MILES ON IT. AT 25,138 MILES THE SWAY BAR LINKS WERE REPLACED. I JUST HAD MY OWN GARAGE DO THEM AGAIN WITH 41,971 MILES ON IT. THESE SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 17,000 MILES. I ALSO HAD IT AT THE DEALER FOR A SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END AND THEY REPLACED BOTH FRONT AXLES. WE ARE STILL EXPERIENCING A SHIMMY AT TIMES. THE RIGHT SIDE SUB FRAME BUSHINGS WERE REPLACED AT 32,268 MILES. THEN AT 33,367 MILES IT WAS BACK INTO THE SHOP FOR THE LEFT REAR SUBFRAME BUSHINGS. THE DATE OF THAT REPAIR WAS 11/23/09. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AND ALL RUSTED UP. I ADVISED THEM NOT TO DO THE WORK BECAUSE I COULD DO IT MYSELF AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I REPLACED BOTH REAR ROTORS, PADS, AND BOTH CALIPERS BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL RUSTED. OUR FACTORY WARRANTY ENDS AT THE END OF THE YEAR AND I HAVE GREAT CONCERNS THAT I WILL BE PUTTING ALOT OF MONEY INTO A JUNK FRONT END. WE DID HAVE IT AT THE SHOP FOR ONE RECALL NOTICE FOR A POSSIBLE FAULTY BRAKE SWITCH THAT COULD NOT SHUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. ON 8/14/09 WITH 34,324. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE AND ESC WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN REPAIRED THE WIRING IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT THEY ARE CURRENTLY UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000. THE CONSUMER STATED DEALER REPLACED COMPUTER MODULE WHICH HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. UPDATED 06/02/08 *TR
2006 KIA SEDONA HAD BAD ROTORS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AND FEELS THAT THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED. *NJ
BOUGHT 2006 KIA SEDONA NEW IN 2007. NO ISSUES UNTIL EARLY 2008 WITH LESS THAN 15K MILES. ENGINE LIGHT ON AND SOMETIMES BLINKING. VEHICLE STALLS WHEN IN GEAR AND AT A STOP. SERVICE PROVIDER STATES KIA ADVISED VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE EVEN WHEN ENGINE LIGHT IN BLINKING. NO WAY FOR ME AS A CONSUMER TO TELL IF I AM DOING DAMAGE TO ENGINE OR OTHER COMPONENT. STALLING AND JERKING IS SAFETY ISSUE. SINCE I DID NOT PURCHASE AT MY NEAREST DEALER, LIBERTY AUTO PLAZA (LIBERTYVILLE, IL), THEY HAVE STATED THEY HAVE DONE WHAT THE CAN AND I SHOULD "TAKE IT UP WITH KIA". INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS COMMON UNRESOLVED ISSUE AND LIBERTY MANAGEMENT WAS AWARE OF ISSUE. THE 'PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF' LIGHT IS LIT WHEN MORE THAN AN 80# PERSON IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG IS TURNED OFF. AT TIMES THE AIRBAG SYSTEM INDICATOR LIGHT IS LIT AS WELL WHICH IS INDICATIVE OF AN ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILURE ACCORDING TO KIA'S MAINTENANCE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR 3 YEARS AND HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES WITH RESULTS OF: I WAS TOLD, "YOU HAD YOUR PURSE AND A BOOK ON THE FRONT SEAT AND THAT MESSES WITH THE SEAT SENSOR", REPLACEMENT OF THE COMPUTER, REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, I WAS TOLD, "WE DIDN'T PLUG THE SEAT SENSOR BACK IN ALL THE WAY", AND ETC. WE ALSO DRIVE A KIA SEDONA WITH AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS AND WE TOO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THEM. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN VERY OFTEN BUT WHEN CLOSING THE DOORS THE BOUNCE BACK AND DO NOT LATCH, LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN. ANOTHER TIMES WHEN YOU OPEN THEM THEY DO NOT OPEN ALL THE WAY AND LATCH. WE HAVE COMPLAIN ONCE ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY WERE FIXED FOR 1 MONTH MAYBE; BUT WE STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AT LEAST 5-6 TIMES A MONTH. I AM WRITING TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF A POSSIBLE DEFECT IN THE 2006 MODEL OF THE KIA SEDONA WHICH IS A VITAL SAFETY CONCERN. THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAS TWO FLAWS: 1.THE BRAKES MAKE A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE WHEN BACKING, ESPECIALLY DOWN A HILL OR STEEP GRADE. THIS SITUATION WAS ADDRESSED ON FOUR SEPARATE VISITS TO THE KIA SERVICE CENTER IN 2007. THOSE DATES WERE SEPTEMBER 20, OCTOBER 26, NOVEMBER 17 AND DECEMBER 13. EACH TIME, THE SERVICE CENTER STATED THAT THIS IS 'NORMAL NOISE ASSOCIATED WITH SEMI METALLIC BRAKE PADS'. THE SERVICE CENTER DID RESURFACE THE PADS ON THE OCTOBER 26, 2007 VISIT. THE SQUEALING WAS CORRECTED FOR A SHORT TIME, AND THEN RETURNED. IT IS STILL PRESENT TO THIS DAY (JULY 10, 2008). I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT CONSTANTLY HAS 'NORMAL' BRAKE NOISE AS STATED BY THE KIA SERVICE CENTER. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND WAS PURCHASED ON MAY 22, 2006. 2. I PURCHASED A 2006 KIA SEDONA OCTOBER 21ST OF 2006 AND EVER SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE ABOUT 8-9 TIMES. FIRST FEW TIMES WERE FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT GOING ON ALL THE TIME. I TOLD THEM I WANTED TO KNOW WHY I DID NOT HAVE A SQUEAK BEFORE AND THEN AFTER THEY DID SOME WARRANTY WORK ON THE VAN I DID HAVE A SQUEAK. I ALSO STATED THAT I HAVE A SAFETY CONCERN ABOUT THE CAR FEELING LIKE IT IS BEING PUSHED WHEN YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN AND YOU GET TO 30-35 MPH. HE SAID THIS IS NORMAL. LASTLY, THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT DECELERATE WHEN GOING DOWN HILLS (EVEN A SLIGHT GRADE). IT DOES NOT DO THIS ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. THEY TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL, BUT WHEN I DRIVE IT ACCELERATES AND IF I HAVE IT SET AT SAY 40 MPH I HAVE TO APPLY TO BRAKES BECAUSE I HAVE HAD IT ACCELERATE PAST 60 MPH. AGAIN, I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY VEHICLE AND THE FACT THAT THERE ARE SAFETY ISSUES THAT I FEEL NEED TO BE CORRECTED. ON MAY 13, 2006 I PURCHASED A 2006 KIA SEDONA VAN FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2006, OCTOBER 11, 2006, JANUARY 3, 2007, AND JANUARY 18, 2007 HAD THIS VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE DUE TO THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING AND STAYING ON. DURING THE FIRST OCCASION THE LIGHT WAS RESET AS THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. ON THE SECOND OCCASION A CODE APPEARED, BUT NO PARTS WERE ORDERED SINCE THE CODE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE LIGHT WAS AGAIN RESET, AND THE VAN SENT BACK TO ME. ON THE THIRD OCCASION TWO CODES APPEARED, PART WERE ORDERED, BUT IT WAS STILL UNCLEAR OF THE PROBLEM. AGAIN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT RESET THE AIR BAG LIGHT AND SAID THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVED. AFTER NOT HEARING FROM ANYONE, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TAYLOR KIA, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE SORRY FOR NOT CONTACTING ME, AND I COULD BRING THE VAN IN ON JANUARY 18, 2007. ON THAT OCCASION, A PART WAS REPLACED, A LEG ASSEMBLY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE LIGHT ISSUE SHOULD BE FIXED. ON MAY 10, 2007, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THEY WERE HIT IN THE DRIVER SIDE BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH. THE FRONT DRIVER, AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND UPON IMPACT THE SEAT BELTS RELEASED, INSTEAD OF LOCKING, WITH NO RETRACTION. THIS CAUSE MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER TO BE THROWN AROUND IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THE VAN'S MANUAL, THE AIR BAGS, AND SEAT BELTS SHOULD WORK TOGETHER. THE FACT THAT THE SEAT BELTS RELEASED COULD HAVE ALLOWED FOR EITHER THE DRIVER OR THE PASSENGER TO BE EJECTED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VAN AGAIN AS WE HAVE FIVE CHILDREN TOTAL. THIS WAS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN. WE HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO TAYLOR KIA, TOLEDO, OHIO, FOUR TIMES. I AM NOW UNSURE IF THE PROBLEM WAS EVER CORRECTED. I AM ALSO POSITIVE NO REPAIR MADE TO THE VAN WILL EVER CONVINCE ME THAT ALL SAFETY EQUIPTMENT IS FUNCTIONING ON THIS PARTICULAR VAN. *AK
THE 2006 KIA SEDONA PULLED TO THE LEFT SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. THE FRONT END HAS BEEN ALIGNED NUMEROUS TIMES AND TWO DIFFERENT KIA DEALERSHIPS INSISTED THAT CROWNING" OF ROADS IN MY AREA WAS CAUSING THIS. FUNNY HOW NO OTHER VEHICLE I'VE EVER HAD HAS EVER PULLED TO THE LEFT ON THE VERY SAME ROADS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE TWO KIA DEALERSHIPS THAT ALL VEHICLES "DRIFT" OR "VEER" TO THE LEFT WHEN YOU LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL. AGAIN, THIS HAS NOT BEEN A PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE I'VE OWNED IN THE LAST 20+ YEARS. MY VAN CAN NOW BE CONSIDERED A LEMON BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP FIVE TIMES. THERE WAS ALSO A LOUD "BUMPING" NOISE IN THE FRONT END WHEN STEERING SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT AND DOWNWARD. NO SERVICE PERSONNEL AT EITHER DEALERSHIP COULD CAUSE THE NOISE SO, TO THEM IT DID NOT EXIST. THEY REFUSED TO RIDE WITH ME SO I COULD DEMONSTRATE BUT THEN FINALLY THEY DID AND THEY HEARD IT! ON SERVICE TRIP NUMBER FIVE, THEY REPLACED BUSHINGS ON THE FRONT END AND THE NOISE IS GONE. THIS VEHICLE STILL "DRIFTS" OR "PULLS" OR "VEERS" OR "MEANDERS" TO THE LEFT WHEN YOU TURN LOOSE OF THE WHEEL. GETTING SOMEONE TO AGREE WITH THAT IS AN UPHILL BATTLE THAT I HAVE NOT YET WON. *AK
AFTER I GOT THIS MINI VAN THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT NEVER WORKED RIGHT, SOME TIME THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD STAY ON AND SOMETIMES IT WENT OFF, DID NOT MATER IF SOMEONE WAS SITTING THERE OR NOT. DEALER TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE WITH IT. NOW THE LIGHT STAYS ON AND WILL NOT GO OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT WORK WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
