TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL RAIL LEAKING FUEL ON THE ENGINE AND COULD GET HOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, ODOR OF BURNING RUBBER WAS IN THE VEHICLE CABIN. NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOU FUSZ KIA, 1025 N LINDBERGH BLVD, ST. LOUIS, MO 63132, AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL RAIL WAS LEAKING FUEL ONTO THE ENGINE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED A NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V101000 ( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) WHICH THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000. *DT CONSUMER STATED FUEL RAIL WAS REPLACED ON 7/28/20.*JB
2007 KIA SEDONA. ATTORNEY WRITES ON BEHALF OF CONSUMERS REGARDING SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING, WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND DANGEROUSLY DROPPED DOWN FROM THE POSTED SPEED OF 60 MPH TO 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. ELEVEN DAYS LATER, THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. THE REPAIR CONSISTED OF REPLACING THE OXYGEN SENSOR, ALTHOUGH THE TECHNICIAN COULDN'T EXPLAIN WHY IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AS THE CONSUMER WAS RETURNING HOME, THE LOSS OF POWER OCCURRED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER THEN STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE FUEL PUMP, SO THAT WAS REPLACED. ON JULY 31, 2009 THE CONSUMER RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER AND THREE HOURS LATER, THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR TEN DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR A WEEK WITH NO PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO PASS A TRUCK, THE LOSS OF POWER RETURNED. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN FROM 60 MPH TO 20 MPH. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 THE DEALER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD BAD GASOLINE AND THEREFORE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND FILTER. THE CONSUMER KEPT THE OLD FUEL PUMP AND FILTER AND HAD IT TESTED, WHICH WAS LATER DETERMINED THERE WAS NO SIGN OF BAD GASOLINE. INSTEAD, THE LABORATORY INDICATED THE FILTER WAS CLOGGED WITH AN UNKNOWN CLAY SUBSTANCE. NEARLY A YEAR HAD PASSED WITH NO INCIDENT. THEN, ONCE AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON AUGUST 20,2010, THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM OF SUDDENLY LOSING ALL POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE SENSORS AND UPGRADED THE COMPUTER. HOWEVER, AN HOUR AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE OLD DEALER AND WHEN THEY REMOVED THE FUEL FILTER, THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS CLOGGED WITH A FOREIGN COLORED MATERIAL THAT LOOKED THE SAME AS BEFORE. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY FOR ANOTHER FUEL FILTER AND THE DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. *JB
