NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2015 Kia Sedona. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
I had regular oil changes performed by Jiffy Lube when I owned the van and have most receipts. In 2022 after the vehicle kept making a whining sound, we realized that it was completely out of oil. I park in our garage and there was never an oil leak of any kind and no dash lights ever came on to indicate a problem. In May 2022 as we were on a 3 hr interstate drive, the engine began knocking. The oil was full but it wouldn't start and had to be towed home. It had 120,000 miles on it. Sims Auto took the engine apart and said it looked like the oil had never been changed because it was caramelized on the inside. I have photos of it. They said that my vehicle at 120k miles with regular maintenance and in really good condition should not have needed a new engine. Our son had this same exact issue with his Kia Optima but it was under a "warranty/recall" and he received a new engine for free. Our local Kia dealership said they were aware of the problem but my Sedona wasn't under the "warranty/recall" so I would have to pay for it. It cost me $9640 to rebuild the engine. I filed a complaint with the BBB against Kia. Kia would not respond and the case was closed. Most of the complaints on the BBB against Kia are due to faulty engine issues.
In 2017 my Sedona was leaking water In the rear well. South Austin Kia accused my 135 lb dog of peeing in the rear well. He will not fit back there. After many attempts to get them to fix it and contacting corporate I was told "if I can prove it is leaking they will try to fix it". I went through a carwash climbed into the back and videotaped it. Took it back to Kia of South Austin and the recrimped the well. When I got my van back they had failed to reinstall the carpet and bolts. Two months ago I took my van to Firestone for its oil change. 1000 miles into it my check engine light came on. We read the code and it came up no oil. We added oil, took it to Firestone and there is no evidence of an oil leak. The check engine light stayed off until last night. It threw 138 codes. Never ever seen so many codes. I'm replacing this van in a couple of weeks. We are limping it. I get sever panic attacks thinking about going back to Kia of South Austin for the treatment that has occured.
We were driving and pulled over to a grocery store and noticed that the dash lights were going crazy and then the cabin started to fill with a little smoke and then the car shut off. The doors would not open and the car had no power at all. We were finally to get us and our kids out. I popped the hood and noticed a small fire next to the ground wire. The engine had caught fire. I put out the fire. There is another set of recalls on Kia's about the engines and the car catching on fire. The Kia dealer said that there is not a recall on this car.
The brake lights went out. The bulbs were replaced. The fuse was replace and there still no lights. The top led brake light works, but lower lights on each side are out. I don't know if the brake switch is the problem when the upper led works. I have researched the issue and discovered that this is a xommon kia issue with many models. When a Google search is conducted for "kia no brake lights it comes up with other people that have the same issue with multiple models."
The passenger side second row outside seat is not latching into place appropriately and thus slides forward and back in the track upon breaking or accelerating. We did not know it became faulty until my 5 year old was seated while driving and upon vehicle breaking his chair flew forward in the track and jolted him. He nearly face planted into the front seat, and if we were driving any faster and needed to suddenly stop for something to avoid collision, or god forbid, been in an accident, I have no doubt he would have been. My husband has been attempting to find the exact reason but he can’t tell yet if it is some sort of spring mechanism failure or if there is another explanation. That seat is 100% not safe for use until it is fixed and continues to slide back and forth in the track whether or not it is occupied. The issue is available for inspection upon request, however my husband has to take the track off in order to remove the chair so it isn’t flying all over when driving.
In December 2021, I reported an issue with the driver-side airbag light being on that has yet to be addressed even after working with KIA customer service. In January 2022, the PASSENGER side airbag light is blinking. This has been reported to KIA as well.
There have been several times recently when both of the headlights flicker on and off while driving or while parked over the past 2 weeks. Most of the time it seems to happen when using the turn signal, but not always. Most times it has only flickered off for a second and it has happened for as long as several seconds until the driver could quickly turn the lights off and back on again for them to work. This is obviously a safety hazard when driving at night. When the lights flicker, the park lights will stay on.
2015 Kia Sedona driver's side airbag light is on intermittently. Dealer states airbag under seat is malfunctioning and cost to replace is greater than $1000. Vehicle has not been involved in an accident and this is original equipment. This is a safety risk because the airbag may not function properly in the event of a crash.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, it would not start. The contact was able to change the battery and the vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and while the vehicle was at the dealer, it caught on fire. The dealer stated that the vehicle had a short circuit that caused the vehicle to catch on fire. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The car odometer was about 120,000 highway miles. After run with the cruise control for about a 386 miles I stop the car in Angola service station and been there for about 12 minutes with the car off the car got on fire. The electric system shut down immediately and the hood didn't open at all, rear doors didn't open electrical way just manually and the back door get completely sealed.
2015 KIA SEDONA. CONSUMER WRITES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR VEHICLE REPAIRS MADE RELATED TO SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE POWER SLDING DOOR LATCHING FAILURE REPAIRS.
when using the indicator to signal left, the signal would occasionally not respond or signal right. after jiggling, it will signal correctly. this was not a one-time occurrence and getting uncomfortable
July 2021 family of 6 driving on vacation. 3 hours from home car started losing power. Dash lights were coming on and no lights were on at anytime before this. Vehicle had 68,000 miles at the time. Lost power would not accelerate for several minutes and car started smoking under the hood. Coolant was spraying everywhere. Family stuck on side of highway in middle of Pennsylvania and no exit for 15 miles. Had to walk to an unknown home to ask them to fill several bottles of water. Put water in the car. It would run about 5 minutes and overheat again. Finally got to a rest stop. Took to O'Reilly auto parts where we had new thermostat, coolant and fluid and other minor parts installed spending about $700. Drove 15 minutes car broke down again overheating. Trucker mechanic stopped to help but no luck. This was on a Sunday where everything was closed. We could not get a ride or a rental. Continued driving about 3 minutes at a time and constantly adding fluids made it to a hotel. Had to store the van for the week at the hotel. They agreed to keep it while we rented a van and went to Virginia beach. Van had to be towed home. Took to a garage near home where the mechanic said the heads needed replaced. Replaced head gaskets, head bolts. New thermostat, spark plugs, heli coil, coolant, oil and labor. They gave us a discounted rate of $2087.00. Drove home worked for few days and needed towed. Broke down again overheating on a main 3 lane busy road near home. This time repair shop said it would need a while new engine. While we paid $700 in parts on way to vacation. Had $1200 in car rental fees. $2100 in head gaskets shop repair fees. $600 in towing fees. And they were wanting $6000 for a new engine. I sat the van in my driveway for months paying the payments and eventually had to voluntarily repo at 70K miles. Car had 1 owner before us and car was regularly serviced. We had free service and oil for the first year we owned. Now being sued for the balance. Help!!!
When pushing the turn signal down while the vehicle is in motion to go left, it either doesn’t blink or switches to the right blinker. This nearly caused an accident the other day when a car nearly hit the back of my van with my 6 kids in it, because the left blinker wouldn’t come on and then switched to blinking right. There are numerous other reports on here of similar incidents and unfortunately it looks like nothing will be done until it causes a fatality. My car is at the dealership now and I will forward the invoice if they fix it. You can go to the Kia Forum and find 34 different posts on the same issue.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND PRESSURE OIL LIGHT KEEP ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECALLED ON THE KIA SPORTAGE. (NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 19V101).
We bought our 2015 Kia Sedona earlier this year (2021) and are having issues with the left blinker, the sliding doors and the backup camera. With the blinker, it doesn't always activate when you plus the lever down. sometimes you have to push it real hard. Other times you push the lever down to turn left but the right blinker comes on instead. With the doors, the rear left door doesn't always click shut all the way. It makes a grinding sound and then the back of the door unhinges. Sometimes it closes all the way only to unhinge while I am driving, sometimes 55+mph in the middle of a highway. The rear right door will not always respond to any of the automatic button commands. Once in a while it will close or open with the buttons. Other times it will partially close before reopening again. And even other times it just beeps and will not move. We have checked numerous times to make sure there are no obstructions and there aren't. With the backup camera, it is just very blurry and you cannot really tell what you are looking at other than shadows. We have wiped it down and it has done nothing to fix the issue. KIA! PLEASE HELP WITH THESE ISSUES!!!!!
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH ALL MY AUTOMATED POWER DOORS TO MY 2015 KIA SEDONA SXL. BOTH SLIDING DOORS HAVE BEEN STAYING UNLATCHED AND OPEN ON THEIR OWN WHILE IN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND KIA EXTENDED MY WARRANTY TO FIX IT BUT MY PROBLEM IS THAT AT THE SAME TIME THIS ALL STARTED HAPPENING MY TAILGATE DOOR LATCH ALSO WENT BAD AND IT STAYS OPEN AND OPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AS WELL. I'VE TRIED TO GET ANSWERS AND ALSO TRIED TO HAVE KIA HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT'S WAY TO BIG OF A COINCIDENCE THAT MY TAILGATE MALFUNCTIONED AT THE EXACT SAME TIME AS THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOORS. IT'S BEEN ONGOING SINCE FEBRUARY 2021. I HAVE READ IN THE KIA FORUMS THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY KIA SEDONA OWNER THAT IS HAVING THE EXACT ISSUES. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I'M NOT HAPPY AT ALL.
Around January of last year, with no warning at all, no lights on the dash. Suddenly while driving on my way home (luckily I had just gotten off the highway) my van started making a knocking noise and I decided I was going to try and pull over safely once I heard the noise, when all of a sudden the engine just stops. There was no power at all, I barely got out of the way of other traffic as there was no shoulder on this street. This was very scary and I had my child in the car. I took my car to the Kia dealer and even though my car only had about 90k miles on it and was taken care of very well, they refused to replace the engine. I paid 8k to have an engine placed because I still owe the bank money on this car. So many people are having issue with Kia and its not right that they wont help.
AS CONSISTENTLY AS MULTIPLE TIMES EACH DAY, WHEN USING THE BLINKER FUNCTION ON MY 2015 KIA SEDONA. THE HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN OFF COMPLETELY. I HAVE TO WIGGLE THE DEVICE TO RESTORE HEADLIGHT FUNCTION. IT APPEARS TO HAVE LOOSE CONNECTIVITY OR WIRE, BUT IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING AT DARK.
THE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE APPEAR FAULTY. THEY ROUTINELY DO NOT FUNCTION WITH THE BUTTON AND I AM REQUIRED TO MANUALLY CLOSE THEM. THEY ALSO DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY STOP AND HAVE NEARLY CLOSED ON MY ARM BEFORE. THEY ARE VERY GLITCHY. THE DRIVERS SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT PROPERLY CLOSE ALL OF THE WAY APPROXIMATELY 10-15% OF THE TIME.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sedona. The contact previously received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V338000 (Structure, Electrical System). The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the passenger’s side door would be repaired but not the driver’s side door. After the repair, the contact stated that the driver’s side sliding door failed to latch as the driver’s side sliding door indicator warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the dealer where he was informed that the braking system was operating as needed; however, a faulty sensor had caused the warning light to illuminate. The dealer acknowledged the failure with the sliding door; however, the dealer informed him that parts for the repair were not available. Recently, the contact was made aware of an article about a recall on KIA vehicles with a risk of catching fire due to defective wiring in the ABS module. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
DIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE STALLED OUT OF NOWHERE.
OUR 2015 KIA SECOND MINIVAN OVERHEATED REPEATEDLY IN 2020 FOR UNKNOWN REASONS RESULTING IN A TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF VALUE. AFTER LEAVING A HIGHWAY, THE MINIVAN OVERHEATED, RESULTING IN A BLINKING ENGINE LIGHT. IT WAS QUICKLY PARKED AND LATER DRIVEN TO A MECHANIC, WHO COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER A PERIOD OF OPERATION AT NORMAL TEMPERATURES, IT BEGAN TO MISFIRE. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED PRIOR TO OR DURING THESE MISFIRES. NONETHELESS, WE HAD THE STARTER COILS REPLACED BASED ON A REPAIR CODE. AFTER ANOTHER PERIOD OF NORMAL OPERATION, IT AGAIN BEGAN TO MISFIRE AND OVERHEATED WITHOUT TRIGGERING ANY WARNING LIGHTS. WE DROVE IT IMMEDIATELY TO OUR MECHANIC, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN. A KIA DEALER TO WHICH WE TOWED THE CAR CONFIRMED THIS ASSESSMENT AND REPORTED IT NEEDED A $6K NEW ENGINE THAT WOULD COST $3K TO INSTALL. (NEITHER WE NOR OUR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC COULD LOCATE A USED ENGINE FOR LESS THAN $4K.) IN ITS CURRENT STATE, THE DEALER ESTIMATES THAT THE 5 YEAR OLD MINIVAN'S TRADE-IN VALUE IS $500. KIA REGIONAL IS UNABLE TO CONFIRM THAT A REPLACEMENT ENGINE IS AVAILABLE AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE REPORTED THAT IT IS REMANUFACTURING THESE ENGINES AND MAY NEED TO WAIT FOR PARTS TO BE CREATED AND SHIPPED FROM SOUTH KOREA. THE 2015 SEDONA ENGINE IS OF THE SAME TYPE (KIA LAMBDA II 3.3L V6 GASOLINE DIRECT INJECTION) INCLUDED IN VEHICLES THAT WERE THE SUBJECT OF THE RECENT ENGINE FIRE LAWSUIT (ANDREA SMOLEK V. HYUNDAI MOTORS AMERICA AND KIA MOTORS AMERICA). HOWEVER, THE SEDONA WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SETTLEMENT OF THAT CASE OR THE RELATED RECALL.
ON 2015 MODEL KIA SEDONAS THE SLIDING DOOR MOTORS MAY BECOME FAULTY AND CAUSE THE SLIDING DOORS TO NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. WHEN YOU PUSH THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT GETS ALMOST CLOSED AND THEN MAKES A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FOLLOWED BY A BEEP IN THE CABIN AND A NOTIFICATION ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LETTING YOU KNOW THAT THE DOOR DID NOT FULLY CLOSE. IF YOU DRIVE WITH THE DOOR IN THIS STATE IT IS NOT FULLY LATCHED AND PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DOOR COULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING OR IN THE CASE OF IMPACT. THE TSB IS ATTACHED TO THIS CASE.
VERY OFTEN WHEN I PULL DOWN ON LEFT TURN SIGNAL THE RIGHT SIDE BLINKS INSTEAD. SIGNALED LEFT LAST WEEK STARTED TO TURN LEFT AND A CAR ALMOST HIT ME PASSING ON MY LEFT. I TRY TO BE ALERT TO THE PROBLEM BUT SOMETIMES I FORGET. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER KIA SEDONA OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS.
When driving on freeways and using my cruise control….. If I need to use my brakes to disengage cruise control when traffic slows and then use the “resume” feature on the C.C. my vehicle continues to accelerate until I shut the cruise off and reset it. If I am resuming to say 65 MPH I can reach 85 MPH in a couple seconds. This happens more than 50 % of the times I use my C.C. As I continue to age and my reflexes slow, this issue becomes a safety issue for me.
MY FAMILY AND I WERE COMING BACK FROM VACATION AND THE ENGINE THREW A ROD AND SHUT OFF GOING 70MPH DOWN THE ROAD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A KIA DEALER NEAR MY HOUSE. THEY INDICATED I NEED A NEW ENGINE AT A COST OF $8,400. THE VAN IS WORTH APPROXIMATELY $11K. I CALLED KIA CONSUMER SUPPORT AND OPENED A CASE TO SEE IF THEY WOULD GIVE GOODWILL SINCE IT IS TIMED OUT OF WARRANTY. IT IS THREE MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT 10K UNDER THE MILEAGE PORTION WARRANTY. SINCE I AM THE SECOND OWNER THE 10 YEAR/100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY DECREASED TO 5 YEAR/60,000 MILES. KIA ASKED FOR ALL MY RECEIPTS WHICH I PROVIDED INDICATING I HAVE CHANGED THE OIL, PUT NEW TIRES ON, AND REPLACED THE BRAKES. THIS IS ALL THAT HAS BEEN REQUIRED SINCE WE ONLY HAVE 50K MILES. KIA STATED THAT AFTER REVIEWING MY CASE THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OFFER ANY GOODWILL BECAUSE MY RECORDS AREN'T UP DO DATE. I TOLD THEM I KEPT MY OWN RECORDS, WHICH I GAVE TO THEM, BUT THEY WEREN'T WILLING TO LISTEN TO ME. I WAS VERY SURPRISED HOW RUDE THEY WERE TO ME DURING THIS WHOLE PROCESS.
MY 2015 KIA SEDONA SX-L HAS DEVELOPED A RANDOM ISSUE WHEN THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL FUNCTION IS ACTUATED (AND NOT THE RIGHT). SYMPTOMS INCLUDE THE LEFT SIGNAL NOT OPERATING AT ALL, OR WHEN THE LEFT SIGNAL IS DEPRESSED BUT THE RIGHT SIGNAL BLINKS RAPIDLY THREE TIMES INSTEAD BEFORE BLINKING THE LEFT SIGNAL ONCE. THE ISSUE ONLY SURFACESS MAYBE 10 TO 20% OF THE TIME AND IS DIFFICULT TO REPRODUCE ON DEMAND. THIS DEFECT POSES AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. OTHERS HAVE COMMENTED EXPERIENCING VARIATIONS OF THIS PROBLEM: HTTPS://WWW.KIA-FORUMS.COM/THREADS/TURN-SIGNAL-ISSUES.333572/
OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS OUR LEFT TURN SIGNAL BEGAN ACTING UP. YOU WOULD TURN IT ON, AND IT WOULD EITHER SHOW NOTHING, OR SHOW THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL ON. YOU WOULD HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO WORK CORRECTLY. WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW SWITCH. WE HAVE OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES OVER THE PAST 35 YEARS AND NONE OF THEM HAD THIS ISSUE, AND MANY WERE DRIVEN NEARLY 200,000 MILES OR MORE. THIS ALL OCCURRED WHILE NORMAL OPERATION/DRIVING OF THE VEHICLE.
My ABS / Traction control light has been on for about 4 years and the diagnostic system gives a warning about it. see picture. I have not fixed it because it just reverts back to regular brakes. However, I know that KIA has had recalls on the ABS / Traction control computer board. but my model year was not included in the recall. My mechanic says the issue is my ABS / Traction control computer board and not a sensor on wheel. I would like my model year to be investigated to see if it can be included in the recall as I plan on keeping this vehicle for many years. Yes, I can make it available for inspection. Safety is loss of anti-lock brakes.
FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT LIGHT DOES NOT GO OUT NOW WITH ADULT ON SEAT.FOLLOWED STEPS IN OWNERS MANUAL, DIDNT RESET SO NO FRONT PASS, AIRBAG
LEFT TURN SIGNAL INTERMITTENTLY ACTIVATES THE RIGHT SIDE LIGHTS WHEN PRESSED. OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE LIGHT AT ALL. IN EITHER CASE, THE SIGNAL ARM MUST BE GIGGLED BACK AND FORTH TO GET IT TO ACTIVATE CORRECTLY.
MY HEAD LIGHTS BLINKED THREE TIMES THEN WENT OUT ON LOW SETTING, HIGH BEAMS WORK ONLY. BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOUR TIMES AND AFTER ABOUT A MONTH THEY BLINK AND THEN GO OUT- THIS HAS HAPPENED EACH TIME WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT TIME ON WAY HOME FROM WORK WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. ESPECIALLY WHEN SEEING HOW MANY FORUMS ARE ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH KIAS. ALL TIMES I HAVE BEEN ON BACK COUNTRY ROADS GOING HOME FROM WORK AT 11 PM.
BLINKER MALFUNCTION. WHEN BLINKER SWITCH TO LEFT TURN INDICATOR, IT WILL INTERMITTENTLY FLASH TO THE RIGHT WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND STOPPED. THIS HAS NUMEROUSLY TIMES CAUSED PEOPLE AROUND ME TO MOVE IN WRONG DIRECTION. IT IS COMMONLY REPORTED ONLINE. PLEASE FORCE RECALL.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was bouncing. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the shocks were defective. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
SOMETIMES, THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT SHUT ALL THE WAY. IT MAKES A GRINDING / CLICKING SOUND AND THEN OPENS BACK UP AUTOMATICALLY. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY IN PARK.
BOTH SLIDING DOORS NOT CLOSING PROPERLY...MAKING A LIT OF GRINDING NOISE..
18V338000 RECALL / MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBERSC175 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER19V109' DOOR WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY OPEN BACK UP, HAS SHUT ON MY CHILDREN. FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL: OUR 2015 KIA SEDONA'S WHEN IN MOTION OR STATIONARY, THE TURN SIGNAL COMPONENT DOES NOT SIGNAL THE DIRECTION WE HAVE SELECTED. WHEN I CHOOSE LEFT TURN IT SIGNALS RIGHT TURN. I HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER ABOUT 10 TIMES BEFORE IT MAY OR MAY NOT SIGNAL THE PROPER DIRECTION. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE CARS AROUND US THINK WE ARE PLANNING TO GO RIGHT INSTEAD OF LEFT EACH INTERSECTION. PLEASE ISSUE A RECAL ON THESE TURN SIGNAL COMPONENTS FOR 2015 KIA SEDONA MINIVANS.
WHEN I USE MY BLINKERS, QUITE OFTEN THE HEAD LIGHTS WILL GO ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING
REAR SLIDING DOORS DO NOT FULLY CLOSE AND MAKE LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT THEM IS TO MANUALLY PUSH IT CLOSED.
THE REAR HOUSINGS FOR THE TURN SIGNALS ARE FILLING WITH RAIN WATER. THE WATER LEAKAGE WILL RENDER THE SIGNALS INOPERABLE. THE DRIVER MAY NOT EVEN BE AWARE OF THIS HAZARD. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM AS THE SEALS OR PLASTIC HOUSING MAY BE DEFECTIVE.
WE HAVE HAD OUR 2015 KIA SEDONA MINIVAN FOR ABOUT ALMOST 3 YEARS NOW. WE WENT IN TO OUR LOCAL KIA DEALER SINCE THE STEERING WHEEL WASN'T CENTERING CORRECTLY, SO THEY GAVE US A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. SHORTLY AFTER WE REALIZED THE ALIGNMENT DID NOT HELP AND IT WAS THE TIRES WITH THE MAIN PROBLEM. THE REASON I MENTIONED ALL OF THAT IS BECAUSE SHORTLY AFTER, OUR TURN SIGNAL STARTED ACTING STRANGELY. WHENEVER WE PUSHED IT IN EITHER DIRECTION WITH THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT SETTING ON, IT AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON THE PARKING LIGHTS (EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT). SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT DO IT WHEN YOU USED THE TURN SIGNAL, BUT WHEN YOU TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AROUND AND TURNED OFF THE TURN SIGNAL AND THE PARKING LIGHTS SYMBOL WOULD POP UP ON THE SCREEN. EVER SINCE WE GOT THE TIRES REPLACED AND THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT, OUR TURN SIGNAL SEEMED TO HAVE MUCH LESS OF A DURATION WHEN TAKING TURNS. RIGHT WHEN YOU TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO ITS NORMAL POSITION IN THE MIDDLE OF MAKING THE TURN IT STARTS TO SHUT OFF. WE TRIED TO BE MORE GENTLE WITH THE TURN SIGNAL AND STEERING WHEEL AND IT IMPROVED A LITTLE BIT, BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE STILL POPPING ON ONCE IN A WHILE. A FEW MONTHS AGO WE FINALLY DECIDED TO FULLY SHUT OFF THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS AND JUST DO IT MANUALLY. WE FEEL MORE SECURE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS ON FOR SAFETY REASONS BUT WITH THE WHOLE PARKING LIGHT GLITCH IT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY SAFER. ALSO TODAY WE RECENTLY TESTED THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS AGAIN. WE PARKED IT INSIDE THE GARAGE AND LOCKED IT UP CAR. WHEN WE WENT OUT TO THROW OUT THE TRASH, THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE MYSTERIOUSLY ON AND THE AUTOMATIC SWITCH WAS ON AND THE VAN WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED AND OFF.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS MY HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN ON OR OFF WHEN USING TURN SIGNALS OR JUST HITTING A BUMP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WITH NO STREET LIGHTS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW AND IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. MY 2015 SEDONA ONLY HAS 90K MILES AND I WOULD NOT EXPECT TO HAVE AN ISSUE LIKE THIS AT THIS TIME.
WHEN IN MOTION, AT TIMES, WHEN THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL IS CLICKED INTO PLACE TO INDICATE A LEFT TURN OR MOVEMENT TO THE LEFT LANE, THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL WILL BLINK INSTEAD. THIS CAUSES VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS
TAKATA RECALL SLIDING DOORS DO NOT PROPERLY CLOSE ALL THE TIME AND CAN POP OPEN WHILE DRIVING. SO I HAVE TO GET OUT AND CLOSE THE DOOR BY HAND. THIS HAS HAPPEND ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2016. THE KIA DEALERSHIP I WENT TO SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT STILL HAD ISSUES AFTER THAT.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND STAYS ON. IT USE TO ONLY COME ON EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE BUT NOW STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. ALSO THE PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LIGHT FLASHES WHEN THERE IS NO ONE IN THE SEAT.
WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED 25 MPH UP A SLIGHT HILL AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND LOOSE POWER THEN COMPLETELY STALLED, WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER JUST CRANK HAD IT TOWED TO THE KIA DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THE MOTOR HAD SEIZED UP AND WOULD NEED REPLACED AT A COST OF 7,000$ THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY THE VEHICLE HAS 82,000 MILES WAS COMPLETELY FULL OF OIL WITH NO ABNORMALITIES AND A HALF TANK OF GAS THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS IN AND NO ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS EPISODE SINCE I WAS THE SECOND OWNER, BOUGHT IT USED THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WASN'T IN EFFECT THEY HAVE NO EXLAINATION FOR WHY IT HAPPENED
AIRBAG LIGHT IS STAYING ON. IT HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.
FOR ABOUT 6 WKS NOW WHILE DRIVING SPECIALLY AT NIGHT MY HEADLIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY FLICKER OFF AND ON, AND THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES WHERE THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS JUST TURN OFF AND STAY OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE PARKED.
