WE HAVE TAKEN OUR 2011 KIA SORENTO TO MULITPLE DEALERSHIPS TO GET FIXED. ALL SAY THE ENGINE IS SHOT. THERE IS A SEAL INSIDE THE ENGINE THAT IS MAKING THE VEHICLE NOT WORK. THERE IS MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR OTHER YEARS OF THE KIA SORENTO BUT NOT OURS. THE MECHANICS SAY THAT THIS YEAR AND MAKE HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE. I AM WONDERING WHEN THIS YEAR WILL BE RECALLED FOR ENGINE ISSUES? WHEN I START THE 2011 KIA IS SPUDDERS AND BLOWS SMOKE OUT THE MUFFLER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE WHOLE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE SPUDDERING AND SMOKE HAPPENS RIGHT WHEN I START THE VEHICLE. IT IS A 2011 AND I ONLY HAVE 96K MILES ON IT.
THE SHIFT GEARS WONT MOVE. THE GEAR WILL STAY IN DRIVE. WON'T GO INTO REVERSE OR PARK. WHEN I HAVE TO PUT VEH IN REVERSE I HAVE TO HOLD GEAR IN REVERSE. THERE HAS BEEN TIMES WHEN I HAD TO LEAVE MY KEYS IN THE IGNITION, LEAVE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND HAVE EMERGENCY BRAKE DOWN. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS KIA CLAIM THEY FIXED THE ISSUE, BUT I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
CAR MAKES LOUD ROARING SOUND UPON COLD START. IT IS TYPICALLY THE LOUDEST WHEN IT HAS BEEN LEFT SITTING ALL NIGHT AND AT FIRST START. IT WILL NOT MAKE THE NOISE AFTER THAT UNLESS IT SITS FOR AT LEAST 8HRS.I TOOK IT TO KIA AND THEY EXPLAINED IT WOULDN'T DAMAGE MY CAR AND IT'S MOSTLY JUST A LOUD NOISE AND ANNOYANCE. THEY ALSO EXPLAINED THEY HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE AND ONE OF THE MECHANICS EVEN SAID HE DROVE HIS KIA AROUND FOR YEARS AND IT MADE THE SAME NOISE. IT IS LOUD.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON RANDOMLY AND HAS NOT SHUT OFF FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I WAS TOLD BY A DEALERSHIP THAT IT COULD COST A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY VERY DANGEROUS AND THAT TERRIFYING THAT IT COULD BE SET OFF AT ANY TIME FOR NO REASON OR EVEN WORSE NOT AT ALL. AFTER SEEING SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN ADDRESSED OR RECALLED?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER (TONITO AUTO KIA IN RIO PIEDRAS, PUERTO RICO) AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED BACK IN MARCH OF 2012 AND WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY BY TONITO AUTO KIA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE CALIPERS WERE REPLACED EVERY SIX MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HATFIELD KIA LOCATED AT 1455 AUTO MALL DR, COLUMBUS, OH 43228, AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. CHILD LOCK IS ON AND NOW I CANNOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE EITHER.
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WON'T OPEN FROM OUTSIDE AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR WON'T OPEN AT ALL.
IN THE LAST WEEK, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING 70MPH - THE CAR SHUT OFF AND DROPPED TO 50MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED BUT IT STARTED BACK UP. TWENTY MINUTES LATER WHILE DRIVING 25MPH ON A SIDE ROAD, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. AND THEN AGAIN WHILE IN A DRIVE THRU LINE. THIS HAS SINCE HAPPENED TWICE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE DOES START BACK UP AGAIN BUT IT IS OBVIOUSLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2011-2013 MODELS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED KIA AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BUT TO BRING IT IN AND HAVE IT LOOKED AT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2016 TO HAVE SEVERAL OTHER RECALL ITEMS CORRECTED. *TR
THE CAR WAS NOT ALWAYS RESPONDING TO ME WHEN I WANTED TO ACCELERATE, I WOULD HEAR THE RPMS GOING UP BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FASTER, THEN A PUFF OF WHITE SMOKE WOULD COME OUT THE TAIL PIPE. THEN ONE DAY, I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND IT STARTED MAKING A CLANKING NOISE WHEN I WOULD PUSH THE GAS PEDAL. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE NOISE A ROLLER COASTER MAKES WHEN YOU ARE CLANKING UP THE HILL AT THE BEGINNING. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK THE ENGINE APART TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS AN ENGINE DEFECT THAT WAS DIAGNOSED BY A KIA DEALER AS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. NOW THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE AND KIA IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE. KIA NEEDS TO RECALL ALL VEHICLES WITH THESE ENGINES. THEY ARE BUILT BY HYUNDAI AND THEY RECALLED THEIR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINES. *TR
FAILURE OF AIRBAGS TO DEPLORE. ACCIDENT 12/1/16. INSURANCE COMPANY HAS SUBSEQUENTLY RENDERED THE VEHICLE A TOTALED LOST. ACCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS CROSSING A INTERSECTION (CITY STREET) AND STUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE MIDSECTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FOG LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE AND WAS REPLACED. SHORTLY AFTER, THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL SHORT WITHIN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY UNIT AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WITH KIA FARGO (3901 2ND AVE S, FARGO, ND 58103, 888-569-7621). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF THE FIVE YEAR/60,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL A DEALER TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
VEHICLE STARTED GRINDING WITH NO PRIOR ISSUES AT A STOP SIGN. WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. TOWED TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT HAD BROKEN. FOUND PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON OTHER 2011 KIA SORENTO 2 WHEEL DRIVE 4 CYLINDER MODELS, THE EXACT SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS OUR OWN. CALLED KIA AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS INDEED A RECALL, HOWEVER IT WAS NOT IN EFFECT FOR MY VIN. THE SAME MODEL, YEAR, EVERYTHING. JUST NOT MY VIN. VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT WILL LIKELY REQUIRE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. KIA IS AWARE OF A PROBLEM WITH THESE INTERMEDIATE SHAFTS AND IS NOT PROPERLY REPAIRING THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY DETACHED, FLEW OFF, AND SHATTERED LEAVING A GAPING HOLE IN THE ROOF. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN DRIVING BEHIND ME, THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. THE BODY SHOP THAT REPLACE THE SUNROOF EXPLAINED THAT A MANUFACTURING DEFECT CAUSED THE FAILURE. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO KIA, BUT KIA WAS UNINTERESTED. I'M REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I FEAR THAT SOMEONE COULD BE HARMED OR KILLED IF THEIR ARE OTHER SORENTOS WITH THE SAME MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE CV AXLE LEAKED FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
AFTER OUR PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE, THE CANCEL BUTTON WOULD GET STUCK AT THE TOP OF THE BUTTON. THEREFORE NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM COMPLETELY. WITHOUT THE BRAKE SWITCH IT COULD CAUSE THE CRUISE CONTROL TO NOT DISENGAGE.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AT 90,000 AND AND ITS NEVER BEEN HIT I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANT 2000.00 TO FIX IT ,I'M ON SSI .THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE PLEASE HELP?
REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. NO IMPACT OR DAMAGE.DOOR HANDLE JUST STOPPED WORKING.
AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, AND I AM THE ONLY DRIVER. IT JUST CAME ON THE OTHER DAY AND HAS NOT TURNED OFF. I AM AFRAID THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH.
2011 KIA SORRENTO/THE CAR THE LOCK MECHANISM FAILED. THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK WITH THE KEY FOB OR WHEN PUSHING THE LOCKS IN THE DOOR. APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 80,000 MILES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SAID I WAS OVER MILEAGE FOR THE REPAIR. IT WILL COST ABOUT $800 FOR REPAIR. I AM SEEKING ADVICE TO SEE IF EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL COVER THIS COST. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR LATCH, I RECEIVED A LETTER SAYING THE REPAIR ON THE LOCKS WOULD BE DONE BUT APPARENTLY IT DOES NOT COVER THIS PART. 5 YEAR OLD CAR NO LOCKS WORK AT ALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO ANY GEAR, A LOUD POPPING NOISE COULD BE HEARD FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD AND ROLLED BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED IN ORDER TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V258000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KIA OF ALLIANCE (LOCATED AT 2010 W STATE ST ALLIANCE, OH 44601), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: K3452308. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR IS ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE KIA SORENTO. KIA HAS OFFERED NO FIX OR RECALL. DESPITE THIS BEING A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE WITH THE SORENTO, MULTIPLE YEARS.
WHEN DRIVING CAR JERKS AND ENGINE CUTS OUT LOSING ALL POWER AND MOBILITY. USUALLY COMES BACK ON WITHIN SECONDS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED. A FEW TIMES I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH NO POWER AND RESTART THE CAR. WHEN LOSING ALL POWER I HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 55-60MPH. ALL POWER IS LOST AND WITH NO POWER STEERING I HAVE HAD TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 TIMES. OFTEN SMELL SOMETHING BURNING OR MELTING. SMOKE FROM DASH A FEW TIMES. NO FIRES YET... ALSO PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LAMP CONTINUES TO GO OUT BECAUSE OF THE WIRES AND HARNESS MELTING.
MY 2011 SORENTO ONLY HAS 89500 MILES AND YESTERDAY MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER RIGHT AWAY AND THEY SAID IT HAS TO BE DIAGNOSED TO SEE THE PROBLEM. IT WILL COST $120.00 JUST TO DIAGNOSE. I HAVE GONE ON LINE TO SEE IF THIS A RARE EVENT AND TO MY SURPRISE IT IS NOT. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT. I FEEL THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE INEXPENSIVE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NHTSA SHOULD GET KIA TO CLEAN THERE ACT BEFORE SOMEONE DIES!!
MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. I CAN OPEN IT FROM THE INSIDE, BUT NOT THE OUTSIDE. IT IS NOT LOCKED AND SEEMS TO BE A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ACCORDING TO ALL OF THE OTHER SORENTO OWNERS AND COMPLAINTS OUT THERE. I'M TERRIFIED...WHAT IF A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION OCCURS AND THE ONLY DOOR I CAN USE IS THE DRIVERS SIDE AND IT WON'T OPEN? NOTHING HAPPENED TO MY DOOR TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. I CAME OUT TO THE GARAGE ONE MORNING AND IT WOULDN'T WORK.
DRIVERS SIDE,REAR SEAT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK DOES NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. THE DOOR LOCKS ARE ELECTRICALLY OPENED VIA KEY FOB OPENER. I HAD THIS DIFFICULTY BEFORE BUT HAD BEEN ABLE TO OPEN FROM INSIDE. I AM FEARFUL THAT THE CHILD LOCK ON THE JAMB OF THE DOOR MAY HAVE BEEN FLIPPED TO THE LOCKED POSITION. IN ANY EVENT THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN AUG OF 2015 WITH 46K ON ODOMETER. THE UNLOCKING ISSUES WERE NOTED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AS THE DOOR LOCKS ORIGINALLY ENGAGED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED IN DRIVE. THE LOCKING PROBLEM WAS LIKELY FIRST NOTED IN EARLY FALL OF 2016. BY NOVEMBER OF 2016 THE DOOR WOULD NEITHER OPEN WITH THE KEY FOB BUTTON, ELECTRICAL SWITCHES ON THE MASTER DOOR CONTROL ON THE DRIVERS AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER INTERIOR ARM RESTS, OR THE THE INTERIOR PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE FROM THE INSIDE. THE REMAINDER OF THE LOCKS HAVE NOT FAILED TO OPEN WITH THE KEY FOB, ELECTRIC SWITCHES OR WITH THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. THIS SITUATION PRESENTS A SAFETY CONCERN PARTICULARLY TO DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PASSENGER AS EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE DOOR IS NOT POSSIBLE AT THIS POINT. THE SITUATION HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED.

OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST 6 MONTHS, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR HANDLES ON THIS 2011 KIA SORENTO. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE, IVE FOUND ITS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT KIA REFUSES TO RECALL. THIS IS ABSURD. THE FRONT TWO DOORS ON THE KIA WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT WILL FROM THE INSIDE. ONE OF THE BACK DOORS HAS A HANDLE THAT HAS BROKEN OFF AFTER LITTLE USE. IVE READ HUNDREDS OF STORIES OF THIS HAPPENING AND KIA NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. THE EXTENSIVE LABOR IT TAKES INTO REMOVING THE DOOR HANDLE IS THE PROBLEM FOR THE PRICE. MOST SERVICE DEALERS WANT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX A PLASTIC DOOR LATCH/ACTUATOR AND THAT IS A RIP OFF. THESE NEED TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY FOR SAFETY REASONS. IF A CRASH WERE TO HAPPEN, AND THE INSIDE ALSO QUITS WORKING, HOW WOULD YOU EXIT THE VEHICLE?

THE CONTACT ALSO RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 156260000 (POWER TRAIN) AND 13V114000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS NOT OPENED FROM OUTSIDE. ONLY OPENED FROM INSIDE.
WE PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2011. IT HAS BEEN SERVICED AND NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. AT 104,000 MILES, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND NOW IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR, I'M AFRAID THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL FAIL RESULTING IN PREVENTABLE INJURIES/DEATH. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FILED CONCERNING THE AIRBAG SYSTEM.

THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR ON MY 2011 KIA SORENTO WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUT SINCE OCTOBER, 2016. THE DEALERSHIPS THAT I HAVE REACHED OUT TO ARE QUOTING A $400.00 PRICETAG TO "FIX" THIS ISSUE THAT IS OBVIOUSLY THE FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER. IN READING THE FORUMS AND LINKS ON HOW TO FIX THIS, IT HAS BECOME APPARENT THAT KIA REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS AND I AM COMPELLED TO REPORT AS HOPEFULLY THE NHTSA CAN COMPEL KIA TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS WIDESPREAD ISSUE AS IT IS INDEED A SAFETY ISSUE. DOES SOMEBODY HAVE TO DIE TRAPPED IN THEIR KIA FOR KIA TO ADDRESS THIS?
THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS CAME ON. KIA MARKED IT AS BAD AND I HAD A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC DONE AT A SHOP I HAVE BEEN GOING TO FOR OVER 6 YEARS. IT CAME BACK THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURE ISSUE. SOMETHING I HAVE NO CONTROL OF MESSING UP. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT SO THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. IT'S BEEN ON FOR 1 MONTH NOW. MY WARRANTY EXPIRED AND NOW KIA WON'T FIX IT. THEY WARNED ME THAT IF IN A CAR ACCIDENT MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. APPARENTLY THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE ONLINE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CHILDREN I COMMUTE WITH EVERYDAY AND I THINK KIA SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS TO AVOID LAWSUIT IN THE FUTURE. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CUSTOMER IS RIGHT AND PROVIDING EXCELLENT SERVICE TO HAVE CUSTOMERS COME BACK? I REGRET BUYING A KIA.
I JUST BOUGHT A 2011 KIA SORENTO LAST WEEK WITH 39,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I WENT TO GET IN THIS MORNING TO GO TO WORK MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. I CAN ONLY OPEN IT FROM THE INSIDE. I TRIED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING IT AND NOTHING. IT STILL DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
VEHICLE STATIONARY, THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED TO OPEN. WAS WORKING FINE ONE DAY AND NOT AT ALL THE NEXT. IT IS THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. INSIDE STILL WORKS. I REMOVED THE DOOR PANEL AND INNER DOOR PANEL AND CHECKED ALL LINKAGE. THE FAILURE IS AN ELECTION SOLENOID IN THE ACTUAL LATCH ITSELF. THIS OFTEN HAPPENS ON OTHER DOORS ON THESE VEHICLES, WHICH IF THEY HAVE A CHILD LOCK LEAVES THE DOOR INOPERABLE AND MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE A CHILD IN AN EMERGENCY.

DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUT SIDE. THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED AND THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR IS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. THIS IS A HAZARD AND A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE READ ON MANY BLOGS WITH OTHER KIA SORENTO OWNER HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE A BABY, AND HAVING TO OPEN MY DRIVER DOOR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE CRAWLING THROUGH THE CAR.
IN THE PAST 3 YEARS I'VE HAD TWO OF MY EXTERNAL DOOR HANDLES BREAK OFF WITHOUT EXPLANATION OR INCIDENT.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES RED ON MY 2011 KIA SORENTO WITH 55,000 MILES. THIS INDICATES THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH. ALTHOUGH KIA MOTORS HAS SENT OUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY, THIS AIRBAG FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED UNDER CODE B1764, AND IS A DEFECTIVE SEAT CUSHION WITH A REPLACEMENT COST OF $1300. THIS DEFECTIVE PART SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR AIRBAGS, OR DETERMINE AN ALTERNATE FIX. A DEFECTIVE PART THAT IS NOT CRITICAL IN A CRASH HAS RENDERED MY AIRBAGS USELESS.
I HAVE HAD MY 2011 KIA SORENTO FOR 2 YEARS NOW AND AT ABOUT 115K MILES AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. AFTER RESEARCHING, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I SUGGEST THAT KIA LOOKS INTO THIS AND ISSUES A RECALL SINCE THIS IS A OBVIOUS PROBLEM AND I LIKE OTHERS CARRY CHILDREN AS PASSENGERS AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE ANYMORE AND AM LOOKING INTO OTHER AUTO MANUFACTURERS.
70,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. DRIVER SIDE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH MANY COMPLAINTS FILED. CHEAP PLASTIC MECHANISM IS TO BLAME. MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON OTHER DOORS ALSO.
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE PAST 3 YEARS, THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAS MELTED, MAKING THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT NON-FUNCTIONAL. I DO NOT USE MY LOW BEAMS AS DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AND, AFTER THE FIRST MELTDOWN OF THE SOCKET, I CONSCIOUSLY TRIED TO USE THE HEADLIGHTS SPARINGLY. THE MANUAL REFERENCES A 55 WATT REPLACEMENT BULB AND THAT IS WHAT I AM USING. THE AUTO PARTS STORE CLERK ALSO LOOKED UP THE REPLACEMENT BULB AND GUIDED ME TO THE BULB I AM USING. I AM CONCERNED THE MELTED SOCKET COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND, THEREFORE, I FEAR DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT, IN THE RAIN, OR AT ANY OTHER TIME LOW BEAMS ARE REQUIRED. MY MECHANIC THOUGHT IT IS A VOLTAGE PROBLEM. WITH A 6-YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND NEARLY 150,000 MILES, I AM RELUCTANT TO SINK A LARGE SUM OF MONEY INTO REPAIRS. GIVEN THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE SOCKETS HAVE MELTED (2X PASSENGER SIDE; 1X DRIVER SIDE), I BELIEVE THIS IS A CHRONIC ISSUE THAT KIA SHOULD ADDRESS. A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THIS PROBLEM IS NOT AN ISSUE SOLELY WITH MY SORENTO, BUT IS A MORE WIDESPREAD PROBLEM.
DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY HAS BROKEN ON TWO OF MY DOORS, THE PASSENGER FRONT AND THE DRIVER SIDE REAR. THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE IF YOU GET THEM FIXED, WITH ORIGINAL KIA PARTS, THAT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS CLEARLY IS A SAFETY PROBLEM.
