THE DRIVER'S SIDE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, PARKED IN A PARKING LOT
DRIVER INSIDE DOOR HANDLE MADE A "POPPING SOUND" WHEN DRIVING LOOKED AT DOOR WHEN AT LIGHT AND HANDLE WAS STICKING OUT (AWAY FROM THE DOOR LIKE SOMETHING BROKE)? DIFFICULT TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE
I HAVE A 2011 KIA SORENTO IN WHICH THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, ONLY THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE MANAGES TO OPEN THE DOOR. I REPLACED THE DRIVER'S DOOR LAST YEAR. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD IF THE VEHICLE IS IN A CRASH AND THE DRIVER OR OCCUPANTS ARE INCAPACITATED. THE DOOR WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE BY SOMEONE ASSISTING, GOD FORBID THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED BY CONSUMERS REGARDING THIS ISSUE
BACK DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE STOPPED WORKING, UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. TODAY 6/2/16 DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE STOPPED WORKING AS WELL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS I READ SEVERAL POST WHERE ALL 4 DOORS STOPPED WORKING , WHAT IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO GET INTO YOUR VEHICLE BECAUSE THE DOORS WONT OPEN. LEAVING THE WINDOWS OPEN IS NOT AN OPTION SINCE IT PUTS THE VEHICLE AT RISK FOR POTENTIAL THEFT. KIA DEALERS ARE CHARGING ALMOST $400 PER DOOR FOR WHAT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT ON THE VEHICLE AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 2011 MODEL.
FAULT CODE B1620, INTERNAL FAULT REPLACE SRSCM. JUST OUT OF WARRANTY 107000 MLS. NO PREVIOUS AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. MANY COMPLAINTS ON LINE BUT NO RECALL. $1000 TO FIX. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AT KIA'S EXPENSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE RPM'S WENT TO ZERO. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO THE PASSANGER SIDE DOOR GAVE OUT, I CAN'T OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE, CLOSELY AFTER THE BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR DID SAME THING . NOW TODAY MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND TRUNK WON'T OPEN . I HAVE ONE DOOR THAT OPENS FROM THE OUTSIDE , I HAVE TO CLIMB OVER OR LEAVE A WINDOW OPEN TO GET INTO MY CAR. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL , THIS IS SO UNSAFE FOR US AND OUR CHILDREN. I LOVED MY KIA NOW I'M STARTING TO THINK IT WAS A BAD PURCHASE. I TOOK MY CAR TO KIA AND WAS QUOTED $900 TO FIX TWO DOORS , I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ACTUATOR.
ALL POWER DOORS ARE UNLOCKED, BUT FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAN NOT BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE. IT CAN BE OPENED FROM INSIDE. DOOR HANDLE, DOOR LATCH AND ACTUATOR SEEMS WORKING OK. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE EVEN AS DOORS ARE UNCLOCKED.
PURCHASED A KIA CERTIFIED USED 2011 SORENTO WITH ONLY 49,000 MILES. AFTER 2 MONTHS TODAY WENT TO THE GARAGE TO GET IN THE CAR AND THE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE NO LONGER WORKS FROM THE OUTSIDE. APPARENTLY THIS IS COMMON BASED ON THE COMPLAINTS. AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALER IN A FEW DAYS TO SEE IF THEY CAN ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.
BACK DRIVERS SIDE DOOR NOT WORKING. FIRST COULD NOT OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE BUT ONLY FROM INSIDE. THOUGHT THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK HAD BECOME ENGAGED AND MOVED THE LATCH - THEN COULD NOT OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. CAR HAS 91,000 MILES ON IT BUT SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED USED, DEALER STATES NO WARRANTY AND THAT IT WILL COST $622 TO FIX. INABILITY TO OPEN DOOR IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, PARTICULARLY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. SEVERAL OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING WITH 2011 KIA SORRENTO HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED ONLINE, PARTICULARLY AT CARGURU.COM.
DRIVER'S DOOR ON 2011 KIA SORENTO WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD THE DRIVER BECOME INCAPACITATED. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM THAT KIA REFUSES TO ADDRESS WITH A RECALL OF ITS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT.
AIR CONDITIONER MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHEN PUT ON MAX. IT WILL EVENTUALLY STOP, BUT IT DOES IT EVERYTIME I TURN ON THE A/C OR CHANGE FROM MAX TO ANOTHER SETTING AND THEN BACK TO MAX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THOUGHT THE TIRE BLEW OUT. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SUN ROOF HAD EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUN ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
TWO WEEKS AGO, WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED (STATIONARY), I TRIED TO OPEN MY REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, TODAY THE SAME HAPPENED TO MY DRIVER SIDE. AFTER GOOGLING THE PROBLEM, I FOUND A WEBSITE WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, WITH THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. I ALSO FOUND OVER 500 COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON THIS PAGE. I CALLED THE KIA RECALL NUMBER AND THE REP. TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, THEREFORE IT'S NOT A RECALL ISSUE!!! IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT, THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET ME AND/OR PASSENGERS WITHOUT HAVING TO BREAK IN THROUGH A WINDOW OR JAWS OF LIFE. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED BY THEM. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM, BUT I KNOW (FROM ALL OTHER COMPLAINTS) THAT I WILL BE TOLD THAT IT'S NOT COVERED AND I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. I WILL ALSO HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS NOT BEING INVESTIGATED WITH THIS MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, IT IS A MALFUNCTION IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE CAR AND KIA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM. I AM POSTING THIS AS LEGAL DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE THAT I HAVE MADE YOU AWARE OF THE PROBLEM IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD JEOPARDIZE MY SAFETY.
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I DISCOVERED THAT MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. WELL APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS. I CALLED MY NEAREST DEALERSHIP WHICH IS IN HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA TO LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM OF COURSE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WILL BE A 120.00 CHARGE JUST TO CHECK TO SEE WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM, I SUPPOSE TO HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH I FEEL HAS EXPIRED SO THEREFORE THE CHARGES ARE ALL ON ME. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLY TO FIND THAT THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME THING WITH THE SAME MODEL. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT CAN WE GET DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED. THANKS ALETHA
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WITHOUT WARNING, THE PLASTIC DOOR LATCH PIECE PREMATURELY FRACTURED ON THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE CONTACT WAS LOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO MAKE THE NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS WITH A LOCKSMITH TO UNLOCK THE DOORS DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V626000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR MILES. KIA STATES IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THAT THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS DEACTIVATED DUE TO THIS ERROR CODE. THEY QUOTED AT THE LEAST $1,500 IN PARTS ALONE, NOT INCLUDING LABOR AND THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM FINDING THIS A COMMON ISSUE IN 2011 KIA SORENTO. THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL. PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. BUT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. NOTHING CAUSED THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO COME ON. MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ONE ACCIDENT NOR HAVE I EVER HIT ANYTHING WITH MY VEHICLE.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS KEEP SHORTING OUT EVERY COUPLE MONTHS.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR SIMPLY WOULD NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE ONE DAY. NO ACCIDENT OR OTHER IMPACT WAS THE CAUSE, SO CLEARLY THIS IS A DEFECT OF THE VEHICLE. INTERNET SEARCH INDICATES THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OWNERS AND IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR 5 YEARS AND 5 MONTHS AND HAS 77,000 MILES. DF DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED AT COST OF $450. WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS INVESTIGATED BASED ON THE NUMBER OF INSTANCES AND THE FEAR THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AND PREVENT SOMEONE FROM BEING RESCUED FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE IN A WORST CASE SCENARIO.
2011 KIA SORENTO DRIVER SIDE, BOTH REAR DOORS CAN NOT BE OPEN EITHER FROM OUT SIDE AND INSIDER DUE TO CHILD SAFETY. THIS IS SAFETY MATTER. HOW WE CAN GET OUR CHILDREN OUT OF CAR IN CASE OF ACCIDENT? CURRENTLY ONLY ONE DOOR OF MY CAR CAN BE OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. I AM STRONG BELIEVE SOMEONE HAVE TO TAKE A LOOK AND RECOMMEND THE RE-CALL FOR THIS KIA MANUFACTURE PART DEFECTED.
ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO, JAN/FEB OF 2016 THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR HANDLE JUST STOPPED WORKING, AS FAR AS OPENING THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE IS CONCERNED. THE SAME EXACT THING JUST HAPPENED TODAY, MARCH 20, 2016, TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR. BOTH OUTSIDE LATCHES ARE INOPERABLE. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY, THE SECOND HAPPENED IN THE PARKING LOT OF OUR CHURCH. I AM MARRIED WITH 7 KIDS, 5 OF WHOM DRIVE, AND HAVE NEVER, NEVER, HAD A DOOR LATCH BREAK ON THE MANY VEHICLES OWNED OVER TIME. THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE, THIS IS AN ITEM THAT HAS TO BE RECALLED. THE VEHICLE IS NICE, BUT WITH RECALLS OR PROBLEMS TO THE SHIFT LEVER, AIR BAGS, REAR ROTORS, ETC., ETC..., WHY ISN'T THE NHTSA TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT ALL THE SHORT CUTS AND/OR DYSFUNCTIONAL PARTS KIA IS USING TO GET THEIR CAR TO MARKET QUICKER. WE ARE THE CAR'S 2ND OWNER, SO KIA WILL NOT EVEN HONOR IT UNDER THE 7YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY. OUR VEHICLE IS NOT QUITE 5 YEARS OLD WITH APPROX. 90,000 MILES.

TWO OF THE EXTERIOR HANDLES DO NOT WORK ANYMORE. THEY WILL OPEN FROM THE INSIDE BUT NOT THE OUTSIDE. IF THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS HAD BEEN ON AT THE TIME THE HANDLES STOPPED WORKING THE DOORS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN AT ALL. THESE HANDLES STOPPED WORKING AT DIFFERENT TIMES WITH NO WARNINGS. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY FAMILY - I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD WITH AUTISM.
BEGINNING MARCH OF 2016, LOUD BANGING AND CLANKING WHEN STARTING ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH BEARING PROBLEM WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE. VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY SO NO COVERAGE FOR AN ESTIMATED 6,000.00 REPAIR. WHEN MENTION OF RECALL CAME OUT I WAS RELIEVED AS I AM STILL DRIVING THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, IT SEEMS THAT THE RECALL ONLY COVERS 2012 OR NEWER MODELS. THE 2011'S HAVE MAJOR ENGINE ISSUES AS WELL AND NEED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE
DOORS WILL NOT OPEN BOTH FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THESE DEFECTIVE DOORS WOULD MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO RESCUE PEOPLE IN A EMERGENCY.
WE TOO HAVE THE "AIR BAG" LIGHT LIT UP ON OUR KIA- HAVE DONE NOTHING TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO AIR BAG SYSTEM EXCEPT FOR MAYBE MOVE THE SEAT.
2/21/16 MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN REGARDLESS OF UNLOCK WITH ALARM OR WITH THE KEY. I CAN ONLY OPEN FROM THE INSIDE WHICH THE ONLY WAY TO GET IN I HAVE TO CLIMB OVER FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO GET IN. YESTERDAY THE PASSENGER SIDE STARTED TO DO THE SAME. SO NOW I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE BACK SIDE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I'M NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAD TO GO THERE 2/19 FOR ANOTHER ISSUE AND IT HAPPEN TO BE ANOTHER LADY THERE AND HER ISSUE WAS GUESS WHAT HER DOORS. I DIDN'T HEAR THE WHOLE CONVERSATION BUT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND TOLD THEM MY PROBLEM HE STATED THERE WAS A LADY LAST WEEK WITH SAME ISSUE. IT COST HER $350 PER DOOR!! I THINK THAT IS OVER THE TOP AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY THAT MUCH THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE(IM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS IS HAPPENING TOO)!!! I DON'T KNOW WHEN I WILL BE ABLE TO GET IT FIX. I GUESS ILL BE CLIMBING OVER MY SEATS FOR AWHILE AND PRAY THE 2 OTHER DOORS DON'T LOCK UP. MY FIRST AND LAST KIA......
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT ENGAGE DOOR ACTUATOR. DOOR ONLY OPENS FROM INSIDE. CANNOT USE CHILD LOCKS, AS THE DOOR CAN ONLY BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. VEHICLE IS JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY, AND KIA WILL NOT REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGE. PART IS DEFECTIVE, AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS ONLINE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE (INCLUDING PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED VEHICLES).
DOOR ACTUATOR IN PASSENGER FRONT IS NOT WORKING. THE DOOR DOES NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE AMONG 2011 KIA SORENTA OWNER DUE TO PLASTIC PARTS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT AND PARAMEDICS WOULD LIKE TO RETRIEVE THE PERSON FROM THE PASSENGER SEAT THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO ACCESS UNLESS THEY BREAK THE WINDOW.
2011 KIA SORRENT - I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE-OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE (APPROX LAST 6 MONTHS), DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE (REPLACED 12/2015 NOW BROKE AGAIN 2/16), AND NOW THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT LIFE SAFETY. BAD SITUATION IF SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS AND THE DOORS WON'T OPEN OR CAN'T BE OPENED.
I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND AS SOON AS I HIT 60,000 MILES IT BECAME ALMOST UN DRIVABLE ON THE HIGHWAY. WHILE IN DRIVE AND UPWARDS OF 50 MPH THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOSES POWER AND THE GAS PEDAL BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE. CAN NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF BEFORE IT WILL ACCELERATE AGAIN. IT HAS ALMOST GOT ME INTO MANY CRASHES, MORE THAN I CAN COUNT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO KIA, THEY WILL NOT DIAGNOSE. HOWEVER A RECALL WITH AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM TOOK PLACE FOR THE SAME MODEL YEAR BUT MINE WAS MANUFACTURED 2 MONTHS OUT OF THEIR RECALL DATES SO I'M S OUT OF LUCK? MANY PEOPLE REPORT THE SAME MALFUNCTION. KIA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT EVEN DIAGNOSE THE SPECIFIC PROBLEM SO I CAN GET IT FIXED. THE DEALER TRIED TALKING ME INTO TRADING IT IN FOR A NEW ONE AND THEY WOULD FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT. I TOLD HIM I WILL NEVER OWN A KIA AGAIN. IT IS A DANGER TO DRIVE.
MY PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. IT WILL OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE REST OF THE DOORS WORK JUST FINE. THIS IS AN SAFETY ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT RANDOMLY FLASHED. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK OR IN GEAR, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE HEARD NEAR THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A BUILD UP OF SLUDGE NEAR THE AXLE AND IT WAS UNCERTAIN WHAT TYPE OF FLUID MAY HAVE BEEN RELEASING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V258000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V626000 (POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO OPEN MY DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR FOR OVER A YEAR. IT WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR IT IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX IT AS WE CANNOT GET TO THE HINGES INSIDE OF THE CAR UNLESS WE REMOVE THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE DOOR AND CUT THE DOOR OFF OF THE CAR. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD KIA THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE REAR BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND; HOWEVER, THE FRONT BRAKES FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR SWAY BAR RAN A HOLE IN THE BRAKE LINE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.

AS SOON AS THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
A FEW WEEKS AGO MY HUSBAND WENT TO OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. HE TRIED UNLOCKING WITH THE FOB AND WITH THE KEY IN THE DOOR. NOTHING WORKS. SO IN ORDER TO GET INSIDE TO DRIVE WE EITHER CRAWL ACROSS OR START THE CAR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE, REACH OVER AND ROLL WINDOW DOWN. THEN WALK TO DRIVERS SIDE AND REACH IN TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. I HAVE DOWN RESEARCH AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH KIA VEHICLES. WE CALLED 2 DEALERSHIPS AND WERE TOLD THIS IS SOMETHING WE WILL HAVE TO PAY TO FIX. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND NOT A DEFECT. I FIND IT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IT ISN'T A DEFECT. AT THIS POINT IT IS JUST THE DRIVERS DOOR, BUT I AM WAITING FOR THE OTHER DOORS TO FOLLOW SUIT AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE MULTIPLE DOORS THAT WON'T OPEN. I FEEL UNSAFE IN MY OWN CAR. I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS ENGAGED AS OTHERS HAVE HAD THEIR REAR DOORS NOT OPEN AT ALL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY KIA AS I BELIEVE IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN IF I WERE IN A WRECK & THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET A PERSON OUT DUE TO THE DOOR NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE.

ON 1-31-16 HEARD A PINGING NOISE ON THE HIGHWAY; THEN THE CAR STALLED AT THE EXIT LIGHT; STARTED IT AGAIN AND LOUD BANG BLOW A ROD AFTER GETTING BACK ON THE HIGHWAY TO DRIVE IT TO A SHOP. DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO KIA IN AUBURN WA. KIA STATED THEY WILL NOT FIX UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THE WRONG OIL FILTER WAS INSTALLED AND I DIDN'T PROVIDE PROPER MAINTENANCE; WHICH I TOOK IT IN EACH AND EVERY TIME FOR OIL CHANGES TO MY AUTO SHOP. SAME OIL FILTER HAS BEEN PUT INTO MY CAR SINCE 2011. WENT BACK TO MY AUTO SHOP INFORMED THEM THEY STARTED THE PROCESS OF SENDING THE OIL FILTER IN TO BE CHECKED FOR DEFECTS, ALSO FOUND ON 3 DIFFERENT WEB SITES THE FILTER CAN BE USED FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL. NOW KIA WANT FIX MY CAR; IT HAS BEEN 3 WEEKS WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND NO WORD FROM KIA; NOT EVEN FROM THEIR HEADQUARTERS. KIA WILL NOT PROVIDE THE WORK ORDER STATING THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE TO THIRD PARTY.
THE SUPPORTS HOLDING THE TRUNK LID OPEN NO LONGER HOLD THE LID OPEN. RATHER ALLOW THE TRUNK LID TO FALL CAUSING A DANGEROUS POTENTIAL THREAT OF THE TRUNK LID FALLING ON MY HEAD!
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND THE DOOR WAS WORKING FINE. CAME BACK 5 MINUTES LATER AND IT NO LONGER WORKS. SAME ISSUE WITH THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. CANNOT OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE OR THE INSIDE SINCE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK IS ENGAGED. IT IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE TO NOT BE ABLE TO GET INTO THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY NOT TO MENTION THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING TO CLIMB THROUGH FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $660 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I THINK THAT IS RIDICULOUS AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ IT SOUNDS LIKE MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
I HAVE RECENTLY SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE DOORS OF MY VEHICLE. I CALLED KIA OF AMERICA SPOKE TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS REP. AS WE ARE GOING BACK AND FORTH ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUES. I WENT TO THE DEALER TODAY HE SET IT UP. BOTH DOOR LATCHES ARE BROKEN. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO ONE OF THE RECALLS BECAUSE BUT, ALL SORENTO OWNERS MUST CALL THEM TO GET THIS FIXED. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY FOR EVERYTHING THIS IS A KIA PROBLEM YOU MUST NOTIFY THEM. THE MORE COMPLAINTS THE BETTER OFF OR SAFER WE WILL ALL BE. REMEMBER IF YOU GET INTO AN ACCIDENT THEY CAN NOT GET YOU OUT UNLESS THEY BREAK GLASS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,563.
WHEN OUT TO MY KIA AND I HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON. ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. DIDN'T OPEN, SO I HIT THE UNLOCK AGAIN, STILL WOULDN'T OPEN. SO I WALKED AROUND AND OPENED THE DRIVERS SIDE AND REACHED OVER, THE DOOR OPENED. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME FOR THIS DOOR. BUT I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME TO THE REAR DRIVE SIDE DOOR AND HAD TO HAVE THE DOOR HANDLE REPLACED. THE KIA WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY NOT RUNNING AND THAT DOOR DOESN'T HAVE NEAR AS MUCH USE AS SOME OF THE OTHERS. ALSO THE BACK SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WON'T GO DOWN. I AM ASSUMING THE CABLE IS BROKE. AGAIN THIS WAS NOT USED MUCH SINCE I GOT THE KIA ALMOST 4 YEARS AGO. I THINK I USED THIS FEATURE 2 TIMES AND IT WOULDN'T WORK AFTER THAT.
