THE CAR IS A 2011 AND IS ONLY 3 MONTHS OLD HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AND WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I HEARD A CRACK AND A LOUD POP. AFTER THAT NOISE THE WHOLE SUNROOF FELL IN ON ME AS I WAS DRIVING, ALL OF THE GLASS AND METAL HOLDING THE GLASS. IT SEEMS THE GLASS HAD POPPED UP BEFORE IT FELL IN ON ME. MY BACK WAS SCRATCHED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE SUNROOF WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND ALSO A GOUGED DOOR PANEL. THERE ARE STILL SMALL SCRATCHED ON THE INTERIOR AND THE ROOF OF THE CAR FROM THE GLASS. *TR
FROM DAY 1 I COMPLAINED OF A CLUNKING/BANGING NOISE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS. 3 ATTEMPTS AT DEALERS AND CALLS TO KIA PRODUCED ONLY THE STATEMENT "COMMON TO THIS VEHICLE PLATFORM" I NOW HAVE OVER 4,000 MILES AND STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE CHROME RINGS AROUND INSTRUMENT PANEL ARE VERY BLINDING ON SUNNY DAYS AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
MY 2011 KIA SORENTO EX 4 CYLINDER HAS HAD A SAFETY ISSUE WITH HESITATION UPON TAKEOFF FROM A STOP SIGN OR ANY STOP. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL ACCELERATE AND I AM VERY CONCERNED IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER MANY TIMES AS IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. THEY ACT LIKE THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS. ONE TIME THEY DID SAY IT WOULD TAKE A SOFTWARE FIX THAT KIA HAS NOT PROVIDED. I JUST WANT IT FIXED. *TR
2011 KIA SORENTO 4-CYL EX ALIGNMENT ISSUE: PURCHASED AUTO 3/27/10 AND NOTICED THE NEXT DAY THAT THE CAR DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT. WAS TOLD TO WAIT 30 DAYS (OR 1000 MILES) FOR BREAK-IN PERIOD. THE DEALERSHIP DID AN ALIGNMENT ON 5/5/10; THEY THEN STRAIGHTENED THE STEERING WHEEL ON 5/6/10; AND TIGHTENED THE SPECS ON 5/7/10. THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER KIA DEALERSHIP IN AKRON ON 5/19/10, AND THEY ROTATED THE FRONT TIRES AND DID ANOTHER ALIGNMENT--THEY COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM EITHER. THE CAR STILL DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT. I AM WORKING WITH KIA CORPORATION TO TRY TO FIND A FIX, BUT FELT THE INFORMATION WAS IMPORTANT TO NHTSA SHOULD OTHER COMPLAINTS BE RECEIVED ON THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
HAVE HAD 4 ALIGNMENTS AND ONE STEERING WHEEL STRAIGHTENING IN 3 MONTHS ON A BRAND NEW 2011 KIA SORENTO, 4 CYL, TO CORRECT THE SUV DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT. PLEASE REFER TO CASE #10334297. TODAY I DROVE A NEW SORENTO AS A TEST-DRIVE AT THE DEALER TO COMPARE MY CAR TO ONE JUST OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE. THIS FORM IS TO UPDATE NHTSA THAT THE NEW VEHICLE HAS THE SAME DRIFTING PROBLEM AS THE ONE I PURCHASED IN LATE MARCH 2010. ALL SPECS FROM EACH ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO KIA CORPORATION (MATT IS THE CLIENT SERVICE CONTACT. MY COMPLAINT NUMBER WITH KIA IS #[XXX]). ALL ALIGNMENTS ALL DIFFERENT AS TO "BEFORE ADJUSTMENT AND AFTER ADJUSTMENT" EVEN THOUGH LESS THAN 3 MONTHS HAS GONE BY FOR ALL THE ADJUSTMENTS MADE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW AND AT THIS TIME DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE "FIXABLE". FELT THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE REPORTED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A PUSH BUTTON START/SMART KEY. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIFT FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER SHIFTED INTO PARK BUT DUE TO THE PUSH BUTTON/SMART KEYS, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET BACK INTO THE VEHICLE TO USE THE SMART KEY AND SHIFT INTO PARK IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO BEHAVE THAT WAY AND THAT THERE WAS NO OTHER TYPE OF KEY AVAILABLE AS AN ALTERNATIVE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,500. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.
SOMETHING LOOSE ON RIGHT FRONT WHEEL OF MY 2011 KIA SORENTO. THERE IS A CLUNKING SOUND LIKE SOMETHING IS WRONG. KIA CLAIMS THEY ARE ALL LIKE THAT BUT A NEW CAR SHOULD NOT FALL APART AFTER 3000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE TOOK HIS FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND LET THE VEHICLE COAST, IT SEEMED AS IF THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 30-40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BREAKING DUE TO THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE DEALER TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A 23 MILE DRIVE AND THAT ALTHOUGH THE FAILURE DID OCCUR, IT WAS NORMAL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT HE COULD POSSIBLY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,900.
VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND HAS SINCE DAY ONE. DEALER STATES "WE CANT DUPLICATE YOUR CONCERN", YET WHEN WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE (FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL BREAKING, THE VEHICLE AGAIN PULLED TO THE RIGHT. WE DID NOT SAY MUCH AFTER UNTIL READING ABOUT DOZENS OF OTHER VEHICLE OWNER WHOM EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN WILL THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION AND SAFETY ADMINISTRATION DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT? *TR
TOOK POSSESSION OF 2011 KIA SORRENTO ON 2-18-2010. SINCE THAT TIME THERE HAVE BEEN 14 INSTANCES WHEN THE CAR HESITATED ALMOST DYING OUT AND THEN SURGING FORWARD. AT ONE TIME IT DIED COMPLETELY OUT AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED WHILE BEING IN THE LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. TWICE IT HESITATED AND SURGED AHEAD 4 - 5 CONSECUTIVE TIMES BEFORE SETTLING DOWN, ONCE WHILE CROSSING OVER A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. IT HAS BEEN BACK TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO THEY CLAIM WE DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. MY 2011 KIA SORENTO 2.4 L W/ AUTO TRANNY FWD WAS FIXED ON RECALL ALMOST TWO MONTHS AGO.AFTER DRIVING 26 DAYS I HAD BAD ACCIDENT. FROM MY HOUSE TO WORK I STOPPED AT MCDONALD REST. TO BUY BREAKFAST. I GOT ON, STARTED MY VEHICLE, STEP ON MY BRAKES TO ENGAGE IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE START SHAKING, REVERSED, SPAN 360 DEGREES, HIT THE RAILINGS AND RAMP OF THE RESTAURANT AND DRIVE FORWARD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT. IT STOP BECAUSE THE TWO CONTROL ARM/AXLES WERE DAMAGED. I WAS SHAKEN AND IT WAS HARD TO REMEMBER WHAT REALLY HAPPENED WHAT I EXPLAINED WAS THE SAME AS WHAT THE WITNESS SAW WHILE LINING UP ON THE DRIVE THRU TO ORDER HER BREAKFAST. THE WITNESS CAME OVER AND HELPED ME. THE DAMAGED WAS SO EXPENSIVE THAT I HAVE TO FIX THE DAMAGE THRU MY INSURANCE. I HAD THE VEHICLE FIXED BY RELIABLE SHOP NOT BY KIA DEALERSHIP IN ORDER FOR ME TO VERIFY IF THE ACCIDENT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE RECALL REPAIR. I ALMOST FORGOT THAT ON THE EARLY MORNING BEFORE THE ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE REVERSED FROM MY GARAGE @ UNREASONABLE SPEED THAT I HAVE TO CONTROL BY APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR SOME PARTS FROM KIA. DO I HAVE TO NOTIFY KIA WHAT HAPPENED OR WAIT UNTIL THE PROBLEM HAPPEN AGAIN. WHAT IS YOUR ADVISE. AS OF NOW I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE PHOBIA EVERYTIME I BACK UP, AT LEAST I AM AWARE WHAT HAPPENED. THANK YOU *TR
The Engine as while driving down road locked up on me causing the vehicle to stop running. From my understanding this type of engine has had issues in past and was under a class action lawsuit that also included Hyundai. Now Kia has responded saying my vehicle vin number isn't part of the theta engine recall. Which baffles me.
THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN.
AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING IS BAD. OPEN CIRCUIT. DEALER HAS IN STOCK. BUT NOT PERMITTED SELL THE PART BECAUSE THIS IS NOT THE UPDATED PART, WHICH IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. KIA OF NORTH AMERICA STATES IT HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL OCTOBER. I CAN NOT ALLOW MY 22 YEAR DAUGHTER TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT THE AIRBAG.
