Pealing paint on roof at windshield and along passenger pillar. Reported same to Kia dealership at which they confirmed the paint pealing is an issue, but they would not repair due to vehicle being outside paint warranty period. There is currently no safety concern, however if the roof at the windshield rusts through, the structural integrity of the vehicle will be compromised.
The check engine light keeps going on and off and I took it to go get looked at and they said I had a faulty Cadillac converter. I looked it up and it said that they had recalls on 2014 Kia sorentos for that but when I check on the website it says I have no open recalls and I'm trying to figure out why my car is not on that list because this has been an ongoing problem and now it's so bad I'm starting to smell exhaust in the car. I'm really not sure on the date that it started I just know it's been awhile. Can you please help me.
DOORS JUST STARTED NOT UNLOCKING OR LOCKING WITH FOB OR BY DOOR PANEL AND THE BACK UP ALARM BEEPS NON STOP AS SOON AS YOU PUT IT IN REVERSE, ALL SENSORS ARE CLEAN.
THE ISSUE IS THE ENGINE IT'S BURNING THE OIL AND ONE OF THE RECALL THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE AND THATS THE PROBLEM THAT I'M HAVING. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED IN THE ROAD WHEN I SMELLED THE BURNING OIL. NOW MY MECHANICS SAYS THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE A ENGINE THAT ONLY IS 6 YRS OLD
THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR STARTED SHAKING, KNOCKING, AND DECELERATING AS I TRIED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE.
TODAY I WAS DRIVING TO MY PARENTS HOUSE ON A LONG STRAIGHT AWAY HIGHWAY (55MPH SPEED LIMIT). I BEGAN PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND AS SOON AS I GOT AROUND HIM MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OIL LIGHT, AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I PROMPTLY PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I CHECKED OIL LEVEL, WHICH WAS FINE. NO OBVIOUS OVER HEATING, SMOKE, OR LEAKS. I DECIDED TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON TO SEE IF THE LIGHTS WERE STILL THERE BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T START. IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD ASIDE FROM ONE TINY CRANK NOISE THEN NOTHING. LUCKILY SOMEONE STOPPED AND WE GOT THE CAR STARTED BY JUMPING IT. WENT TO THE LOCAL PARTS STORE AND MY BATTERY, STARTER, AND ALTERNATOR ALL CHECKED OUT OK. NO FURTHER LIGHTS OR ISSUES THE REST OF THE DAY. NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED BUT I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT LONG DISTANCE NOW. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR BEFORE THIS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD WENT OUT. THIS MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SEE HOW FAST I WAS GOING. TURNS OUT, WHEN I TURN MY HEATED SEATS ON IT BLOWS THE FUSE FOR MY DASHBOARD. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING, BECAUSE I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 6 MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING.
MY 2014 KIA SORENTO HAD 38,283 MILES ON IT AND THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PRIOR TO TAKING INTO THE MECHANIC FOR REPAIR I NOTICED A CLICKING/POP SOUND WHEN I WOULD TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. I WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC THAT IT WAS FAULTY PART AND WORE OUT VERY QUICKLY. I CALLED KIA TO SEE WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD NO COMPLAINTS WITH THIS ISSUE. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT IT ABOUT 3-6 MONTHS AND I MAY NEED TO REPLACE ANOTHER PART OF THE STEERING BUT AT THIS TIME IT IS WORKING WITHIN MANUFACTURERS SPECS. THANKS FULLY I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT COVERED THE REPAIRS, HOWEVER I STILL BELIEVE THAT KIA SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS.
MY HEADLIGHTS CONTINUE TO BLOW OUT EVERY FEW WEEKS, NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF BULB I USE. LAST NIGHT WHILE ON A VERY DARK AND RAINY ROAD, BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT FORCING ME TO DRIVE WITH MY HAZARDS WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. VERY DANGEROUS. APPARENTLY, THIS ISN'T AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.
I BOUGHT 2014 KIA SORRENTO WITH 93,000 ON IT HAD OIL CHANGE TO FULL MAX LIFE SYNTHETIC API OIL AND OIL FILTER CHANGE TO FULL SYNTHETIC FILTER AT 97,389 .THEN GOT TO AND OIL GOOD FOR 7,500 MILES. ENGINE WENT OUT AT 102,500. AND NORMAL DRIVING ..
THIS HEADLIGHT PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING WITH KIA AND SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2016 WITH 26,000 MILES. AND I REPLACED MANY HEADLIGHT BULBS THEN DECEMBER 2019 WENT TO DEALERSHIP TO GET LED SAFETY DAYLIGHT HEADLIGHT BULB REPLACED. WAS TOLD NO BULB FOR IT ACCOUNT IT'S ENCASED IN HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND TO REPLACE WOULD COST OVER $900 FOR ASSEMBLY. AND TOLD NEVER SEEN THAT LIGHT EVER GO OUT. PRIOR TO THIS I ALREADY HAD THE OTHER HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY REPLACED FOR CONSTANT LIGHTING PROBLEMS. WHICH THE DEALERSHIP HAD IN STOCK AND THAT TOLD ME KIA HAD A PROBLEM. VEHICLE NOW HAS 72,000 MILES ON IT. I CALLED KIA ASSISTANCE AND TOLD THEM OF PROBLEM WITH LIGHTS AND THE FREE REPLACEMENT OF THE OTHER ASSEMBLY. I WAS DENIED THE CLAIM EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM OF ALL THE LIGHTING PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS FILED WITH NHTSA. THEY WERE ON DEAF EARS. SO HERE I AM FILING MY COMPLAINT AND HOPING ENOUGH PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO KIA THAT THEY RECALL ALL MODELS WITH THE PROBLEM.
THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE REPEATEDLY BURNED OUT. I WOULD ESTIMATE THAT I HAVE REPLACED THE RIGHT SIDE LOW BEAM 8-10 TIMES AND THE LEFT SIDE 3-5 TIMES. IT'S BEEN ROUGHLY A 2:1 RATIO. THIS LAST TIME BOTH HEADLIGHTS BURNED OUT WITHIN AN HOUR OF EACH OTHER AT NIGHT. FORTUNATELY I KEEP AN EXTRA BULB IN THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE OUT ONE OF THEM SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO DRIVE HOME WITH NO HEADLIGHTS AT ALL. THIS WAS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND WHILE I DON'T SEE A RECALL I DO SEE THAT MANY OWNERS HAVE POSTED ON FORUMS THAT THEY'RE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. JUST AS A POINT OF REFERENCE MY 2014 SILVERADO HAD THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED IN 2017 AFTER AN ACCIDENT AND HAVE I HAVE YET TO REPLACE A HEADLIGHT WHILE DRIVING THE CHEVY APPROXIMATELY THE SAME NUMBER OF MILES AS THE KIA.
THE ENGINE HAS BEEN BURNING OIL VERY QUICKLY. WE HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND AROUND 5,000 MILES LATER, THERE WAS ZERO OIL LEFT IN THE CAR - THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. THEN IT WAS FINE UNTIL THE NEXT OIL CHANGE. THEN LESS THAN 3,000 MILES LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. ADDED 4 QUARTS OF OIL TO IT AND ABOUT A MONTH LATER, IT WAS LOW AGAIN AND THE OIL WAS VERY DARK.
PEARL WHITE PAINT ON MY 2014 KIA SORRENTO IS DECLAMINATING OR RAPIDLY PEELING OFF IN SEVERAL PLACES. TWO SPOTS ARE ON THE HOOD AND THE BIGGEST IS ON THE SUPPORT BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND THE WINDSHIELD. WILL COME OFF WHILE DRIVING, PARTICULARLY ON THE INTERSTATE. NOT DUE TO ROCK OR WRECK. HAVE HAD SEVERAL ESTIMATES ABOUT RE-PAINTING.
2014 KIA SORENTO WILL NOT LOCK THE DOORS USING THE KEY FOB OR THE DOOR PANEL. SO THIS MEANS I HAVE TO WALK AROUND EACH DOOR AND LOCK THEM BY HAND. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN WHEN TRAVELING THROUGH HIGH CRIME AREAS. ONCE ALL THE DOORS ARE LOCKED I CAN PUSH THE LOCK BUTTON ON MY KEY FOB TO SET THE ALARM. I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY ON THE KEY FOB STILL THE SAME THING. WITH THIS GOING ON IT DOES CAUSE A SAFETY OF MY LOVED ONES.
2014 KIA SORENTO JUST QUIT WORKING. ME AND THE FAMILY WERE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE GOING 70MPH AND THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD TICKING NOISE THEN JUST LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE SAFELY.
White pain is chipping off passenger and driver side.
The pearl white paint is peeling off the vehicle on the hood and all around the windsheild.
I BEGAN NOTICING PAINT CHIPS IN 2019 ON A 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THESE SPOTS HAVE BECOME LARGER AND LARGER IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS ON THE CAR PRIMARILY THE HOOD, A FRAME, AND ROOF. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER KIA SORENTO'S THAT ARE ALSO PEARL WHITE. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE PAINT. I KNOW THAT ALONE MAY NOT BE A HUGE ISSUE BUT WHAT IF IT CONTRIBUTES TO ANOTHER ISSUE? THERE ARE ALREADY SEVERAL SERIOUS RECALLS. IF THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE PAINT, WHAT HAPPENS IF IT GETS TOO HOT OR SOMETHING?
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH OIL FILTER LIGHT ONLY WEEKS AFTER OIL CHANGE AND KNOCKING SOUND BECAME CLEAR IN MY ENGINE AREA. VEHICLE HAS ALSO SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING.
ON DECEMBER 24TH, AROUND 9:30 AT NIGHT, I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I25 (HIGHWAY) TOWARD DENVER AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPG. MY FAMILY, INCLUDING MY WIFE, 2 BOYS AND MOTHER-IN LAW WERE PASSENGERS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40 DEGREES AND I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT. WITH NO WARNING, A LARGE THUNDEROUS BOOM SOUNDED, SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT. THE SUNROOF HAD BASICALLY EXPLODED. WE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AS WE DID NOT GO UNDER A BRIDGE OR ANY OTHER STRUCTURE THAT COULD HAVE DROPPED DEBRIS ON THE CAR TO CREATE SUCH DAMAGE. I PULLED OVER AT THE NEXT EXIT TO EXAMINE THE DAMAGE AND TO CHECK ON THE PASSENGERS. MY MOTHER IN LAW SUSTAINED A MINOR CUT DUE TO THE GLASS. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF DEBRIS OR A POSSIBLE BULLET THAT COULD HAVE COME FROM A GUN SHOT....THE LOUD NOISE SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT. THE SUNROOF NOW HAD A HUGE 2 FOOT DIAMETER HOLE AND SHATTERED GLASS WAS LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I WAS ONLY 4 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME, SO THE ATTACHED PICTURES WERE TAKEN FROM MY GARAGE THE NEXT MORNING.
ENGINE LOCKED 12/24/19. ENGINE AND PARTS HAS SINCE BEEN DISCONTINUED WHICH HAS MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX. MY SORENTO IS STILL IN THE SHOP TIL THIS DAY. THERE'S CURRENTLY A RECALL ON SMALLER KIA SORENTO ENGINES, HOWEVER, NOT MINE YET.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK MY HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AT NOW THEN MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. SO I HAD NO LIGHTS AT ALL. ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE OTHER VEHICLES COULD NOT SEE ME UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED. I AM HAVING TO WAIT UNTIL THIS MORNING TO GO AND REPLACE THEM. IT'S A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WIRING OR SOMETHING BURNING OUT THE HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. CONTACTED KIA DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT AND THEY WERE RUMOR ABOUT THE ISSUE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MORE BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE PEOPLE SERIOUS INJURIES.

ENGINE OIL BURNOUT - WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF A FRESH OIL CHANGE THE OIL COMPLETELY BURNED OUT OF THE CRANK CASE / 2 OIL CHANGES PERFORMED WITHIN 3 WEEKS , NO OIL LEAKS OR SMOKE FROM EXHAUST , VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND IMMEDIATELY HERD A KNOCK AND PULLED OVER AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF BEFORE ANY MAJOR DAMAGES COULD OCCUR
MOTOR LOCKED UP WITH 85000 MILES. ENTERING INTERSTATE ON A ON RAMP AT 55 MILES PER HOUR AND CAR JUST SHUT OFF AND MECHANIC SAID MOTOR IS LOCKED UP. THERE WAS METAL IN THE OIL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE PANORAMIC SUN ROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING OR AN IMPACT OCCURING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT GLASS ENTERED HIS EYES. HE FLUSHED HIS EYES WITH WATER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT CALLED WESELOH KIA CARLSBAD (5331 PASEO DEL NORTE, CARLSBAD, CA 92008, 760-710-0801) WHO STATED THAT GLASS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
ENGINE SEIZED WITH NO WARNING. COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. WE HAVE MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD NO PRIOR ISSUES. THE ENGINE SEIZED AT 90,000 MILES DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. WE HAVE THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY AND KIA HAS NOT COVERED THE REPAIRS TO THE ENGINE. WE WERE ADVISED WE NEED A NEW ENGINE.
PAINT CHIPPING AWAY AND RUST UNDERNEATH. APPEARS LIKE NO PRIMER WAS USED. THIS OCCURRING STILL ABOVE WINDSHIELD AND ACROSS LEFT TO RIGHT OF TOP CABIN, AT LEAST 8' UP. STARTED AS 1-2 SMALL SPOTS. KIA SERVICE BLAMED IT ON BEING HIT BY SOMETHING AND WOULDN'T GO FURTHER IN 12/2019. I TOLD THEM IT WAS FROM WIND SHEAR FROM DRIVING. AT THE TIME CAR HAS JUST OVER 30K, OUT OF PAINT WARRANTY.. NOW IT'S 20 TIMES WORSE. AUTO COLLISION SHOPS AGREED IT'S A PAINT DEFECT. I WENT TO CORPORATE COMPLAINT AND WAS SHOT DOWN SAYING IT'S UP TO LOCAL KIA JUDGMENT. NOT GOOD ENOUGH, HOPE NO ONE ELSE HAS THIS ISSUE WITH PAINT ON THEIR KIA SORRENTO SUV.
The paint began peeling approximately 2 years ago and Kia refused to cover the repair fee.
MULTIPLE AREAS WHERE PAIN IS CHIPPING OFF. ONE LARGE AREA ON DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT POST WITH DE LAMINATION OF WHITE PEARL PAINT. NOTICED IT MORE THAN A YEAR AGO. JUST TOOK IN FOR BODY WORK AND IT WAS ERCOMENDED I RESEARCH FOR OTHER ISSUES THAT PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED.
ACCELERATION WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE MODE STARTS OFF WITH A HIGH REV THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS A HARD SHIFT INTO A NORMAL DRIVE PATTERN

KNOCKING NOISE FROM ENGINE, LACK OF POWER LOW OIL PRESSURE, WHEN I PUT OIL IN THE CAR, SEEMS LIKE THE NEXT DAYS ITS LOW AGAIN,(EMPTY)I SPENT MANY DOLLARS ON OIL, I HAD THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 3 MONTHS SOMETIMES AT (KIA) BECAUSE I GET FREE OIL CHANGE, AND MOST AT JIFFY LUBE, HERE LATELY, THE OIL SEEMS TO BE BURNING MORE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS FLASHING OFF AND ON , THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CAR IS IN MY GARAGE. 3. THE BACK BRAKES WENT OUT , SUDDENLY, COAT ME 500.00 DOLLARS. UNACCEPTABLE THE BRAKES COMPLETELY , WENT OUT. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BACK BRAKES I WAS TOLD BY THE KIA DEALER AT EVERGREEN CHICAGO, 4. LOW MILEAGE, CHARCOAL CANISTER FELL OFF, THE BRACKETS BROKE OFF, BUT WE TIED IT BACK UP, GETTING LOW MILEAGE, I AM UPSET BECAUSE I AM PAYING FOR THIS CAR, MONTHLY, AND NOW I AM EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEM ,UNACCEPTABLE THESE CARS HAS HAD ENGINE RECALLS. FUEL RECALLS ETC. THE CHARCOAL CANISTER FELL OFF , FIRST I HAD IT WRAP UP, THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING .THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE STARTED NOV - DEC -2019
DOOR LOCKS ONLY LOCK AND UNLOCK OCCASIONLY. BATTERIES REPLACED IN FOBS STILL NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. READ THAT SLOT OF PEOPLE HAVE OR HAD THE SAME ISSUE. DOORS WOULD TYPICALLY LOCK WHEN YOU DRIVE. USE TO NOT ANYMORE. HAD CAR IN FOR RECALL ON ENGINE THIS YEAR.
CAR BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON AND WOULDN'T TURN OFF. IT DRAINED MY BATTERY. TOOK CAR TO KIA DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BUT COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP REPLACED BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND SENSOR AND STILL MY BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ON. WHILE DRIVING AND IN PARK. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CALLED KIA CORPORATE CODING AND THAT THE HECU NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
PURCHASED VEHICLE A YEAR AGO AND ALREADY PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO WHILE ON HIGHWAY MY ENGINE BEGAN TO SEIZE AND I HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE CAREFULLY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THOUGHT PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED THEN AGAIN AS PREPARING TO TURN ONTO MY STREET THROUGH AN INTERSECTION THE ENGINE SEIZED AGAIN. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I CANNOT ACCELERATE. THIS WAS VERY SCARY AS I HAD MY 2 YOUNG GIRLS IN THE CAR WITH ME THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED. I QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED OFF IGNITION AND TURNED BACK ON AFTER A FEW SECONDS. THE CAR STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY BUT THEN A LOUD CLICKING/RATTLING SOUND BEGAN AND HAS NOT STOPPED MAKING SOUND SINCE. AT THIS POINT I BELIEVE IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE WHICH I HAVE BEEN READING IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH KIA.
A LARGE PORTION OF PAINT ON THE A PILLAR BUBBLED AND CAME OFF. PAINT IS CHIPPING IN OTHER PLACES.
MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT HAS IGNITED 3 TIMES, BLINKING CONTINOUSLY, PLACING MY VEHICLE INTO LIMP HOME MODE. KIA REFUSES TO REPLACE THE KNOCK SENSOR OR ENGINE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER IT WAS ACTING AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AS IN WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY OR YOU GOT WAS A CLICK SO YOUR VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN RESTARTED SINCE THE INCIDENT AND I'M BEING TOLD MY ENGINE WAS BLOWING THERE'S NO WAY THE ENGINE WAS BLOWING IT WOULD NO LIGHTS NO INDICATION WHATSOEVER ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE NO SMELLS IT JUST SHUT OFF
PURCHASED A USED 2014 KIA SORENTO SHOWING 106K MILES. TEST DRIVE WITH THE SALESMAN FOR ABOUT 6 MILES VARIOUS TYPES OF ROADS. VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE CAR, PERFORMED WELL. PURCHASED IT SATURDAY AFTERNOON JUST PRIOR TO THE USED CAR DEALER CLOSING. AFTER PAPERWORK AND PLATES DONE, DROVE IT TOWARD HOME. ABOUT 4 MILES FROM DEALER (INTERSTATE HIGHWAY) SAW THE TEMPERATURE GUAGE CLIMBING INTO THE HOT AREA. NO OTHER ERRORS OR LIGHTS CAME ON. LET OFF ON GAS TO PULL OVER AND TEMP GUAGE CAME DOWN TO NORMAL. CONTINUED WITH CAUTION THINKING THIS WAS A FAULTY GUAGE OR SENDER UNIT. LIMPED HOME SLOWLY. NOTICED GOING UP HILLS AND PULLING HARD TEMP WOULD CLIMB. LETTING OFF GAS TEMP WOULD DROP TO NORMAL. LONG STORY SHORT GOT THE CAR TO A VERY REPUTABLE AND EXPERIENCED GARAGE. ENGINE COULDN'T BE REPAIRED ECONOMICALLY. DEALER DID OFFER MONEY BACK. AS MUCH AS I DIDN'T WANT TO, WOUND UP HAVING TO INSTALL ANOTHER USED LOW MILAGE V6 ENGINE. DURING THE MONTH IN THE GARAGE I HAD DONE MUCH RESEARCH & DIGGING & TALKING OFTEN WITH THE VERY EXPERIENCED MECHANIC IN CHARGE OF THE JOB. COOLANT WAS LOW AND ALL BUT TWO OF THE HEAD BOLTS WERE MORE THAN FINGER TIGHT !! HOW THIS ENGINE WAS RUNNING WAS BEYOND ME, IT WAS! DURING ALL THIS RESEARCH I READ OF MANY HEAD GASKET PROBLEMS AND LEAKS HAD BEEN REPORTED. THE THING THAT WAS REALLY CONCERNING WAS THE NUMBER OF ENGINE FIRES THAT HAD NO REAL CAUSE REPORTED AFTERWARDS. MY CONCERN IS IF I HAD CONTINUED DRIVING THIS CAR HARD, COULD A LEAKY HEAD GASKET CAUSE A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD? I LEARNED FROM THE MECHANIC ALL THESE HEAD BOLTS STRIPPED THE THREADS FROM THE BLOCK. I ALSO LEARNED THERE IS ANOTHER 1.5 INCHES OF UNUSED THREADS INSIDE THE BLOCK! MY SUSPICION IS KIA SKIMPED ON THE LENGTH OF ALL THESE HEAD BOLTS TO SAVE A BUCK PUTTING THE RELIABILITY AND SAFETY AT THE CUSTOMERS RISK. IS MY SAFETY AT RISK? MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON/OFF FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW, AND I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL KIA DEALERSHIPS THAT HAVE TOLD ME MY CAR IS NOT A PART OF AN AIRBAG RECALL, AND IF I WANT IT FIXED, I WILL HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET TO THE TIME OF ABOUT $2,000 TO GET THIS FIXED. THE DEALERSHIPS I CALLED, AND 1 I WENT TO IN-PERSON, TOLD ME THAT ANYTHING RELATED TO THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS NOT UNDER ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY ANYMORE, EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, PURE AND SIMPLE, AND IS A MECHANICAL FAILURE THAT I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. I BELIEVE KIA IS HIDING SOMETHING HERE, AND I JUST CANNOT MAGICALLY COME UP WITH $2K TO FIX THIS. I'VE SEEN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHER YEARS OF THE SORENTO, AND I AM NOT HAPPY THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT WILLING TO REALIZE THE ISSUE HERE. VERY DISAPPOINTED ON HOW THIS HAS MATERIALIZED, AND WILL TRY ONE LAST TIME LATER THIS WEEK AT THE KIA DEALERSHIP LOCAL TO ME. THIS CAR HAS DRIVEN GREAT, AND HAVE HAD NO OTHER ISSUES, BUT THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE TO SAY THE LEAST.
2014 Kia Sorento in Snow White Pearl. PAINT FAILURE The paint is rapidly delaminating from the hood and rails, as well and new areas on the back of the vehicle. The bare metal is exposed. It is beginning to rust. This began in 2019 at around 80k miles. I've reported it to 3 different dealerships and all have dismissed my complaints, citing the expired factory warranty. This is a known issue and Kia is not addressing it.
LOUD KNOCKIN/TICKING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON. BACKUP CAMERA MALFUNCTION, LOOSE GRIP ON THE STEERING & AT TIMES,WHEEL DOES NOT TURN ON ITS OWN AFTER TURNING. OIL IS DIRTY & SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE. PURCHASED VEHICLE ON 10/28 WITH ABOUT 70K MILES. HERE AT THE DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES.
IN THE LAST TWO YEARS I HAVE REPLACED EVERY BULB IN MY CAR AND MULTIPLE FUSES AND FOR SOME REASON THERE IS STILL A SHORT IN MY FUSE PANEL SO MY BRAKE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY POP THE FUSE. IT IS COST ME A LOT OF MONEY AND WE STILL HAVE NOT FOUND OUT WHERE THE SHORT IS IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BUT MY BRAKE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY BLOW A FUSE AND BULBS
THE CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY FINE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH IT. IT RANDOMLY STARTED KNOCKING/ MAKING A LOUD NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AND SHUT OFF AS I WAS D WITH MY TWO KIDS. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT BACK UP IT CONTINUALLY SHUT OFF, IT WOULD NOT STAY RUNNING. IT WAS RUNNING AT NORMAL TEMPERATURE WHEN I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN TURNED THE IGNITION BACK ON THEN IT SHOWED HOT ON THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE. 10/16/2019 I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN I HEARD A LOUD THUNK OR BANG. MY CAR LOST POWER AND I PULLED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. AS I WAS STOPPING THE ENGINE AND OIL LIGHTS FLASHED ON. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND WITHIN 5 MINUTES, THE SMOKE HAD INCREASED AND FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE BEFORE THE ENTIRE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO SALVAGE WHERE INSURANCE CALLED IT A TOTAL LOSS
MY BATTERY DISCHARGE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING WITHIN 5 MINUTES MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND BRAKE SYSTEM. THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, DOOR OPEN LIGHTS, AND SEVERAL OTHER WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, THE BATTERY, AND THE FUSE LINKAGE. THE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND THE CAR DRIVES FOR A FEW MINUTE THEN ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AND THE STEERING AND BREAKING SYSTEM GO OUT AND THE CAR DIES AGAIN. THIS AS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE LAST FOUR DAYS. THIS HAPPEN ON A STATE ROAD AND REQUIRED TWO TOW TRUCKS TO COME OUT.
MY WIFE AND I WERE ON THE 91 FREEWAY IN LIGHT TRAFFIC AND CAME TO THE END OF THE FREEWAY WHICH BECOMES ARTESIA BLVD IN GARDENA, CA. WE WERE SITTING AT THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE FREEWAY AND WE HEARD THIS REALLY LOUD KNOCKING NOISE SO I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND IT WAS OK FOR SEVERAL MINUTES THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HEARD THIS REALLY LOUD NOISE LIKE THE ENGINE WAS BEING OPENED WITH A CAN OPENER AND THIS WAS WHILE IN MOTION ON SURFACE STREETS GOING ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR. (THAT'S WHAT WE THOUGHT TO BEST DESCRIBE THE NOISE). WHEN YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR IT BECOMES MUCH WORSE AND THE CAR SHAKES SO WE PARKED IT AND TOWED HOME DUE TO THE TIME. I HAVE YET TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER DUE TO IT BEING LATE AND THE WEEKEND. BUT A FRIEND OF MINE WHO'S A MECHANIC SAID IT'S DEFINITELY THE ENGINE AND HE'S LEANING TOWARDS THE BARRINGS AND PISTONS SOMEWHERE ALONG THOSE LINES. I HAVE KEPT REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON IT SINCE WE GOT IT LIKE CHANGING OF FLUIDS, OIL THINGS LIKE THAT SINCE WE PURCHASED IT ON 04/17/2019. WE HAVE HAD OTHER MINOR THINGS LIKE THE LOCKS ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR YOU HAVE TO DO MANUALLY AND THE REAR HATCH DOESN'T LOCK AND YOU CAN OPEN IT EVEN WITH THE ALARM ON, SUSPENSION SYSTEM IS A LITTLE LOOSE AND PROBABLY HAS ISSUES ALSO. TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING ALSO. THERE'S ALL OF THE SAME YEAR SAME MODEL SAME ENGINE THAT ARE ON THE RECALL LIST BUT FROM WHAT WE'RE GATHERING OURS ISN'T. I AM NOT QUITE UNDERSTANDING THIS BECAUSE WE'RE POSITIVE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE OTHER ONES RECALLED.
UPON INITIATING AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION WHEN A LIGHT TURNED GREEN ALL THE DASH LIGHTS WENT BERSERK, THERE WAS A LOUD POP, FOLLOWED BY SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD OF THE CAR. THE CAR DIED AND WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED FOR A SINGLE SMALL ACCELERATION TO THE SHOULDER. THICK SMOKE THEN ENGULFED THEN ENGULFED THE HOOD AND CONTINUED FOR 15 MINS. UPON BEING TOWED, THE MECHANICS CONFIRMED ALL FLUID LEVELS WERE NORMAL HOWEVER THE ENGINE IS FULLY SEIZED, UNABLE TO BE CRANKED BY HAND. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED. IN FACT, THE DEALERSHIP OWNER'S NEIGHBOR HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS EXCEPTIONALLY MAINTAINED. UNDER MY OWNERSHIP ALL REGULARLY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE VISITS HAVE BEEN MADE AND THE OIL CHANGED APPROXIMATELY EVERY 5,00 MILES. IN APRIL 2018 A KNOCKING SOUND WAS PRESENT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON RESULTING IN THE DEALERSHIP REPLACING THE CVT CONTROL VALVE, VALVE-OIL CONTROL, CVVT, GASKET OUTLET AND ROCKER COVERS, O-RING, BOLT FLANGES, AND MORE. ALL OF WHICH RELATE TO THE KNOWN (THOUGH UNDISCLOSED TO ME) ISSUES WITH THE GDI ENGINES. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY UNUSABLE WITH A SEIZED ENGINE.
