The contact's fiancé owns a 2014 Kia Sorento. The contact stated the vehicle engine had been misfiring and the brake fluid had been leaking onto the fuse block. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where they had replaced the spark plugs however, the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with the fuse box and power relay control was needing to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not provide any assistance as a case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired due to the fact that the contact would be responsible for the repair cost. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO WAGNER KIA OF SHREWSBURY (730 BOSTON TURNPIKE, SHREWSBURY, MA 01545, (508) 581-5700) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT HAD BEEN CLEARED OUT OF THE SYSTEM. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE THE DEALER, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, ALTERNATOR, AND DRIVE BELTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
NOTICED PEELING AND FLAKING OF PAINT ON ROOF AFTER WASHING. USED NON ABRASIVE MICRO FIBER HANDHELD CAR WASH MITT AND TURTLE WAX CAR SOAP. BACKUP CAMERA IS INOPERABLE. BOTH CONDITIONS (PREMATURE FLAKING OF PAINT AND BACKUP CAMERA BECOMING INOPERABLE) ARE KNOWN BY KIA FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL. NO RESOLUTION IS AVAILABLE OTHER THAN TO REPAINT/REPAIR THESE ITEMS AT OWNER'S EXPENSE.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE, I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS THE BULB AS IIHS HAS RATED THESE LIGHTS ON THIS MODEL AS POOR AS WELL. WHILE DRIVING ON ANY ROAD WITHOUT REFLECTORS OR OVERHEAD LIGHTS IN THE EVENING IT IS VERY HARD TO SEE THE PAINTED LINES. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE ON PAVED COUNTRY ROADS, EVEN ONES THAT ARE STRAIGHT FOR MILES. TURNS FEEL MORE DANGEROUS, AND THIS IS EVEN A PROBLEM ON THE HIGHWAY IN MAJOR CITIES WHERE NO OVERHEAD ILLUMINATION IS PRESENT ON THE ROADWAY.

MY 2014 KIA SORENTO STARTED TO MAKE KNOCKING SOUND AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO CHECK OUT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON OR ANY OTHER WARNING SIGNS. AFTER CHECKING SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE ARE METAL PIECES IN THE ENGINE. THEY ALSO SAID THAT KIA SORRENTO 4 CYLINDER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT WAS RECALLED BUT NOT THE 6 CYLINDER. THEY ALSO ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE TOO LONG BECAUSE THE ENGINE MAY STALL. THEY QUOTE ME $7000 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE OR SUGGESTED TO TRADE IN FOR A DIFFERENT CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR HOME AND TOWED IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING AND ASKED ME TO CALL KIA USA AND FILE A COMPLAINT. THEY SAID THAT THERE ARE LOT OF TSB'S ON THIS 2014 KIA SORRENTO. ACCORDING TO KIA DEALERSHIP NOTES THEY SAY "CONNECTING ROD FAILURE"

THE SYSTEM WAS RESET AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTHERBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
PAINT ON THE ROOF IS COMING OFF... I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT HAPPENED OR HOW... I NOTICED IT WHEN I WAS WASHING IT THIS SUMMER...
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND BASICALLY "DIED". POLICE ASSISTED MY DAUGHTER (WHO WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON HER WAY TO WORK ON A VERY BUSY INTERSTATE). CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP WHERE IT REMAINED OVER THE WEEKEND. IT WAS THEN TOWED TO ANOTHER SHOP LOCAL TO MY RESIDENCE. UPON DIAGNOSIS, THE STARTER WAS FOUND TO BE BURNED OUT, BUT VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT START. EVENTUALLY IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WAS THE PROBLEM.THE ENGINE SEIZED UP. POSSIBLY TIMING CHAIN BUT NOT CERTAIN, AT THIS POINT. SEEMS TO HAVE OCCURRED RANDOMLY. ENGINE HAS HAD PROPER CARE. BATTERY AND STARTER ARE BOTH GOOD (STARTER WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THE SEIZED ENGINE LIKELY BURNED THE STARTER OUT). SHOULD POSSIBLY BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL # SC147. *TR
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that the doors failed to lock securely. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the remedy for the antitheft recall issued by the manufacturer was performed. The dealer stated that the remedy would resolve the cause of the failure however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was 100,000.
My vehicle has a rapid delamination and paint peeling that started. There was not crash and it started over 2020. I have attached an image.

THE FRONT PASSENGER OPENED THE DOOR AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A FIRE. THE CONTACT WHO WAS THE DRIVER AND THE FRONT PASSENGER WERE ABLE TO COME TO A STOP AND EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BURN TO THE ARM AND BACK THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DRIVER ALSO REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION DUE TO THE SMOKE INHALATION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO OPEN BUT WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITH THE HELP OF THE PASSENGER. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED YET. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO SUPERIOR HYUNDAI SOUTH (238 W MITCHELL AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45232) FOR A UNKNOWN RECALL FOR A MOTOR REPLACEMENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
DRIVING ON 2014 KIA SORENTO WITH ONLY 84,000 MILES. DOING OIL CHANGE ON TIME I KEEP THE RECEIPTS FOR RECORDS. LAST FRIDAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. SOUNDED LIKE CRANKING ENGINE RATTLING. HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC THAT TOLD ME THE ENGINE BROKE DOWN. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND KIA HAD FEW UNANNOUNCED ENGINE RECALLS ON MY MODEL. UNFORTUNATELY WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY IT SHUT OFF ABRUPTLY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN A 2 LANE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 55 MPH AND THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF. HOWEVER, ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS STILL WORKED, INCLUDING THE A/C, LIGHTS, AND THE NAVIGATION SCREEN. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TIME TO THINK ABOUT WHAT I NEEDED TO DO, BUT I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY, AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER ON THE HIGHWAY THAT I COULD PULL OVER ONTO. AFTER PULLING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND I TURNED IT OFF. I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASH WAS ILLUMINATED, BUT IT WOULD NOT START . NONE OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WORKED NOW AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF. HEARD A CLICKING SOUND WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. I CHECKED OIL ON DIP STICK AND OIL WAS FINE. THE VEHICLE HAD OVER A QUARTER TANK OF GAS. NO LIGHTS APPEARED ON DASH BEFORE IT ABRUPTLY DIED. CALLED TOW TRUCK TO COME GET IT AND TAKE IT TO REPAIR SHOP. MECHANIC SAYS IT IS SHOWING THE PROBLEM COULD BE IN THE MAIN BRAIN OF THE VEHICLE, AND I WILL HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO NEAREST KIA DEALER WHICH IS 2 HOURS AWAY. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE APPROX. 3 MONTHS AGO WITH ROUGHLY 75K MILES ON IT. I AM THE SECOND OWNER WITH NO PRIOR ACCIDENTS. AFTER 5 YEARS OF HAVING MY CAR, WHILE KEEPING UP WITH ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE, I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING ISSUES WITH THE LIGHTS. TO START, THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS BURN OUT AND I HAVE TO REPLACE ABOUT EVERY 3-4 MONTHS. A FEW WEEKS AGO ONE OF MY FOG LIGHTS WENT OUT, COME TO FIND OUT THE BULB FELL OUT. HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN?! HOWEVER THE MOST PROBLEMATIC OF THEM ALL IS THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT! I'VE HAD THE PASSENGER BRAKE LIGHT REPLACED ONE, BUT THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT IS REPLACED AT LEAST EVERY 6 MONTHS OR SO. SOME I HAVE PAID FOR, SOME COMPLIMENTARY BUT SUPER INCONVENIENT TO SAY THE LEAST. ON TOP OF THAT, I'VE HAD THE HARNESS REPLACED, TENSION PIN REPAIRS, AND NOW I AM HAVING TO REPLACE THE HARNESS AGAIN FOR THE 2ND TIME IN 2 YEARS. AND I CONSTANTLY SEE OTHER KIA'S, MAINLY SORENTO'S, WITH THE DRIVER BRAKE LIGHT OUT. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING LIGHTS AND ONE TIME EVEN HAD GUNS DRAWN ON ME (WHEN BOTH OF MY LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS BLEW OUT). THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS THAT I AM ALWAYS PARANOID ABOUT LIGHTS. IN ADDITION THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF SOMEONE CAN NOT SEE ME, OR POSSIBLY GET ME HARMED IF COPS CAN'T SEE MY LICENSE PLATE. KIA NEEDS TO DO A RECALL AND UPGRADE THE LIGHTING TO LAST FOR A NORMAL AMOUNT OF TIME AND/OR REPLACE HARNESSES. LED LIGHTING SHOULD BE REPLACED FOR FREE FOR MAKING IT SO DIFFICULT TO REPLACE THE BULB. OR UPGRADE TO LIGHTING WHERE WE ARE ABLE TO REPLACE THE BULB WITHOUT HAVING TO REPLACE THE WHOLE FIXTURE. IN THE TELEPHONE CONVERSATION THEY INDICATED THAT THE COST OF THE INSPECTION STARTS AT $ 65 DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF PROBLEM. I HAD A CONVERSATION WITH ANOTHER KIA REPRESENTATIVE FROM KENNEDY EXPLAINING MY SITUATION WITH KIA FROM AGUADILLA, BEING SPECIFIC THAT THE RECALL CLEARLY INDICATES THAT IN BOTH 1 AND 4 RECALLS, LIFE CAN BE AT STAKE WITHOUT THE PARTS NOT BEING CORRECTED IN TIME. MY HEADLIGHTS CONTINUE TO BLOW OUT EVERY 2 MONTHS, NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF BULB I REPLACE THEM WITH. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT, BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ALSO BLOWING OUT EVERY 1.5 MONTH. ALSO, EVER I BOUGHT THE CAR THE MILE PER GALLON THE CAR IS SUPPOSEDLY TO GIVE ISN'T CORRECT, IT ONLY AVERAGES ABOUT 12-14 MPG. PLEASE LOOK INTO BOTH OF THESE SAFETY ISSUES AS I DRIVE WITH TWO UNDER 5YRS KIDS AND ELDERLY MOTHER. WHAT IS THE NHTSA WAITING FOR? ENGINE IS MAKING VERY LOUD NOISE AND NOT DRIVABLE. WHEN TOOK TO KIA DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO GDI 4 CYL ENGINE AND IT WAS RECALLED BUT NOT THE 6 CYL EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEMS ARE THE SAME DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I CALLED KIA AMERICA AND THEY SAID THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING.
ALL THE LIGHTS GO OUT SPORADICALLY WHILE DRIVING. THE DANGER IS WHEN IT DOES IT AT NIGHT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A DARK ROAD, MY LIGHTS WENT OUT COMPLETELY ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IT HAPPENS IN THE DAY TIME AS WELL, AS I CAN SEE THE LIGHTS BLINK OFF AND ON FROM THE REFLECTION ON VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THEY COME BACK ON AND MAY GO OFF 2 OR 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING MAYBE 5 TO 10 MINUTES. ON THE DAY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, IT WAS HAPPENING ON MY WAY THERE, BUT THE KIA DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM.
MY ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT 118,119 AND EQUIPPED WITH KNOCK SENSOR SAFTEY SOFTWARE TO AVOID ANOTHER ENGINE FAILURE. AT 139,505 MY KNOCK SENSOR SOFTWARE ACTIVATED WITH. NO ADVANCE WARNING AS I WAS MAKING AN ACCELERATED LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. I WAS IN A STATIONARY POSITION WITH MY LEFT BLINKER ON JUDGING WHEN TO TURN LEFT IN FRONT OF WESTWARD MOVING TRAFFIC. AS I CHOOSE THE MOMENT TO QUICKLY ACCELERATE AND MAKE THE TURN IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC THE KNOCK SENSOR WAS ACTIVATED, PUTTING THE CAR IN LIMP HOME MODE NOT ALLOWING ME TO ACCELERATE TO SAFTEY. TWO CARS TRAVELING WESTBOUND HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS IN ORDER NOT TO HIT ME. I MADE IT TO THE MIDDLE LANE DIVING TRAFFIC AND THEN HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP IN ORDER TO GET IN OUT OF KNOCK SENSOR LIMP HOME MODE. THE SAFTEY EQUIPMENT INSTALLED TO KEEP ME SAFE IN-FACT DID THE OPPOSITE AND PUT ME IN HARMS WAY.
PEAR WHITE PAINT HAS BEEN PROGRESSIVELY BUBBLING AND PEELING OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. AREAS INCLUDE THE HOOD AND THE ROOF AREA NEAR THE FRONT WINDSHIELD
THE PAINT IS PEALING OFF OF THE BODY OF THE CAR IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, MOST NOTABLY ON EITHER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS CAUSING THE THE BODY TO RUST IN THOSE LOCATIONS WHICH COMPROMISES THE INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE.

MY TROUBLES BEGAN ON APRIL 6, 2020 WHEN MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE IN ANY PRIOR VEHICLE THEREFORE EVEN THOUGH WE WHERE AT THE HEIGHT OF A WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE KIA DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED. I WAS ABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT MORNING. I WAS REGRETTABLY INFORMED THAT MY LEFT REAR ABS SENSOR HAD FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. INCLUDING THE COST OF THE OIL CHANGE, THIS REPAIR COST ME $657.35. THEN ON APRIL 22, 2020,MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ONCE AGAIN, I IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED AND APPOINTMENT AT THE KIA DEALERSHIP IN DELRAY BEACH, FL FOR THE NEXT MORNING. SOON THEREAFTER I WAS ADVISED THAT MY FUEL TANK SENSOR HAD FAILED. THIS COST ME $463.61.ON MAY 5, 2020, TO MY SURPRISE MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE KIA DEALERSHIP IN DELRAY BEACH, FL FOR THE NEXT MORNING. I WAS SOON INFORMED THAT MY RIGHT ABS SENSOR HAD FAILED. THIS REPAIR COST ME $513.32. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS REGARDING MY DISPUTE, HOWEVER, ON EACH OCCASION I HAVE BEEN MET WITH ADVERSITY. MY DISPUTE IS NOT WITH KIA'S WARRANTY HOWEVER, EACH TIME I HAVE SPOKEN WITH KIA'S MANAGEMENT AND/OR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES THEY CONTINUE TO ADVISE ME THAT MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED SO THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. MY ISSUE IS, THAT THEIR SENSORS ARE FAULTY. SPECIFICALLY, THE REAR ABS SENSORS. THESE SENSORS SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED LIKE THIS. KIA HAS CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE ABS SENSORS. KIA SHOULD NOT BE SHIFTING THE BLAME AND COST OF THEIR FAULTY PARTS ONTO THEIR CONSUMERS. DURING MY LAST CALL WITH [XXX], A MANAGER AT KIA MOTORS IN IRVINE, CALIFORNIA; I WAS ASKED HOW MANY KIA'S I OWNED. I'VE ONLY HAD MY 2014 KIA SORENTO FOR A YEAR, FROM 2020-2021. I'VE NOTICED THESE PROBLEMS IN THE BEGINNING AND ASSUMED THEY WOULD WORK ITSELF OUT BECAUSE THE DEALER MENTIONED THAT THE CONDITIONS WERE MINOR BUT THEY ONLY PROGRESSED. I'M PUTTING OIL IN THIS VEHICLE EVERY THREE TO FOUR DAYS BECAUSE THE OIL STICK IS CLEAN ( INDICATING NO OIL). THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON. I'VE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL MECHANICS, INCLUDING THE MECHANIC THAT WORKS DIRECTLY WITH THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME BACK AND WHENEVER IT STARTED TO BLINK IT WOULD CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO JERK EXCESSIVELY AND FORCEFULLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND MAIN HIGHWAYS EACH TIME CAUSING THE SPEED TO DECREASE . SAME THING WITH THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT, IT'S ALWAYS BEEN ON AND I WAS TOLD TO IGNORE IT. AND THE DRIVER SEAT DOES NOT MOVE, I WAS TOLD A SIMPLE SMALL GREEN FUSE (30) WOULD FIX THAT AND I PURCHASED SEVERAL AND EACH TIME THE MECHANIC WOULD INSERT ONE OF THE FUSES, YOU COULD HEAR A POP. I WAS TOLD NOT TO TOUCH IT OR IT COULD START A FIRE (THE FUSE BOX AREA). AS OF TODAY (APRIL 20, 2021) MY 2014 KIA SORENTO STILL HAVE THESE DANGEROUS ISSUES. VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT UNDER THE HOOD.
RAPID PAINT PEEL DUE TO DELAMINATION. IT STARTED AS A TINY DO THEN RAPIDLY BEGIN TO PEEL ON THE PANEL NEXT TO THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE.
THIS PAINT IS PEELING OFF IN LARGE SHEETS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, STARTING ON THE WINDSHIELD SUPPORT AND NOW ABOVE THE SECOND ROW DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE.
ON MARCH 1, 2020, I WENT OUT TO GET IN MY CAR AND NOTICED A 10" SWATCH OF PAINT MISSING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY CAR BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. APROXIMATELY 4 DAYS LATER, I NOTICED THE SAME THING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.I WAS VERY UPSET AS IT IS ONLY A 2014, I HAVE BABIED IT AND LOVE IT. TO HAVE IT LOOK LIKE THIS IS VERY DISTRESSING AND I HAVE NOT HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED.
THE PAINT IS DELAMINATING AND QUICKLY CHIPPING AWAY IN MULTIPLE AREAS OF THE CAR, BUT STARTED ON THE WINDSHIELD PILLAR. THE BODY SHOP INFORMED ME THEY HAD SEEN THIS EXACT THING ON OTHER KIA SORENTOS AND SUGGESTED I CONTACT KIA. THEY ESTIMATED $2,700 TO REPAINT. MY BODY COLOR IS PEARL WHITE.
MY HEADLIGHTS KEEP BLOWING OUT. I HAVE BEEN CHANGING THEM EVERY 2-4 MONTHS FOR THE PAST YEAR. THEY SUGGESTED I CHECK FOR RECALLS AND NOTHING. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AND BUYING HEADLIGHTS EVERY 2-4 MONTHS GETS EXPENSIVE

THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION WHICH CAUSED THE GEAR TO WEAR WHICH CAUSED THE RATTLING SOUND IN THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
2014 KIA SORENTO CAR LOST ALL POWER AND WON'T START BATTERY FULLY CHARGED. WHILE GOING OVER 50 CAR JUST LOST POWER. WON'T TURN OVER NOTHING HAD TO PAY FOR TOW TO DEALERSHIP TO WAIT AND SEE IF THEY EVEN KNOW. VERY UNSAFE WAS THIRD TIME HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING THIS TIME DEAD. CAR HAS LESS THEN 84,000 MILES AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY
JANUARY 10, 2020 HAD THE RECALLS ON MY CAR CHECKED. NOTHING WAS WRONG. WHILE DRIVING HOME FEBRUARY 28, 2020, MY CAR STARTED TO MAKE A HORRIBLE KNOCKING NOISE. I WAS ONLY ABOUT 2 MILES FROM HOME. PULLED IN AND TURNED CAR OFF. CONTACT KIA WAS TOLD TO BRING CAR IN THE NEXT MORNING THAT THERE WAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE MOTOR. START THE CAR AND DRIVE 2 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIKE STARTED BLINKING, OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR DIED AND NEVER HAS STARTED BACK. ASKED THE KIA DEALER IF THEY WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER CAR AND WAS TOLD NO. FIRST I WAS OUT A $300 TOWING BILL BECAUSE THEY NEVER EVER CHECKED OUT THE ENGINE RECALL, AND NOW I AM OUT ANOTHER $300 ON A RENTAL.
CAR STARTED OVERHEATING AND COOLANT BACKED UP AND OVER FLOWED COOLANT RESERVOIR. ALSO BEING WINTER THERE WAS NO HEAT COMING FROM THE HEATER. THIS HAPPENED WHETHER TRAVELING 70 MILES AN HOUR, STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, OR IDLING IN PARK. TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD GO FROM NORMAL TEMP TO OVER HEATING TEMPS, BACK AND FORTH WITH THE SOUND OF BUBBLING IN THE RESERVOIR AND HEAVY COOLANT LEAKAGE. ME AND MY WIFE ALSO NOTICED A STRONG FOUL FUEL ODER EXSPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT, FLUSHED AND FILLED THE RADIATOR WITH 50-50 MIX OF ANTIFREEZE AND IT CHANGED NONE OF THE PROBLEMS LISTED ABOVE. HAD SYSTEM PRESSURE TESTED AND A SCAN OF THE ENGINE OB2 MODULE AND CAME BACK WITH 0 CODES. RESEARCHED VEHICLE AND FOUND RECALL NUMBER SC147 ENGINE/ENGINE COOLING, ENGINE REPLACEMENT.
MY ENGINE STARTED BLOWING SMOKE WHEN DRIVING OUT WITH MY FAMILY. I TOOK IT TO KIA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT BOTH THE FRONT TIMING COVER AND THE OIL PAN GASKET HAD A LEAK AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR HAD AN ENGINE RECALL DONE BY THEM ON WHICH DURING MANUFACTURING THERE WERE METALS SHARDS THAT SPREAD THROUGH THE ENGINE. I ALSO READ THIS ENGINE (THETA 2) WAS INVOLVED IN CASES WERE THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND THEIR ENGINES SHOULD BE WARRANTIED FOR A LONGER TIME. I'M ATTACHING THE INVOICE FOR THE REPAIRS DONE.
I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF THE RADIO AND TO UNLOCK THE DOORS WERE WORKING BECAUSE I HAD JUST DROPPED MY KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL, WENT TO TURN THE ENGINE ON THE RADIO STOP WORKING THE WINDOWS IT WON'T GO DOWN STOP WORKING AND THE DOOR OPENER BUTTON TO UNLOCK THE DOORS STOP WORKING. THE TIRE LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING AND THERE IS SOME WIERD NOISE LIKE VIBRATION COMING FROM THE ENGINE ONLY WHEN YOU START THE ENGINE AND THE AIR CONDITIONER COMES ON FULL BLAST.
Side impact collision on driver side rear quarter panel; vehicle consumed by fire; all three passengers received burns; serious burns to passenger in rear seat on driver side, and driver .
During a moderate T-bone collision at the driver rear side quarter panel, the back seat of the vehicle almost immediately was in flame, injuring all three occupants, not fatally, fire originated underneath the rear seat near the refueling port, which had the cap in place.
MY 2014 KIA SORENTO RECENTLY HAD AN ENGINE FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH AND HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING SO I STARTED TO EXIT THE FREEWAY BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE MIDDLE LANE I HEARD A LOUD POP COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. BEFORE THE ENGINE QUIT WORKING THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DASH AND TEMPERATURE OF THE ENGINE WAS NORMAL. AS SOON AS THE ENGINE QUIT WORKING THE OIL LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED 17 MILES AND 150 DOLLARS LATER I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY SEIZED UP. THEY CHECKED THE OIL LEVELS AND SAID IT WAS HALF OF A QUART LOW. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD AND ALL OF THE MILES PUT ON IT ARE FREEWAY MILES DRIVING TO AND FROM WORK. THIS ENGINE HAS BEEN BURNING UP OIL LIKE CRAZY EVERYTIME I TOOK IT IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OR REPLACED THE OIL MYSELF IT HAS BEEN LOW AND VERY BLACK. THE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN KEPT UP ON PER SPEC'S OF THE MANUFACTURER.
WAS DRIVING ON STATE HIGHWAY WHILE PASSING SLOWER MOVING VEHICLES. CAR SHUT OFF WHILE MOVING AT 60-65MPH WHILE OVERTAKING VEHICLES. PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AS FAR AS POSSIBLE AS THE CAR HAD SHUTOFF COMPLETELY. TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT BEGIN THE STARTING PROCESS AT ALL. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SEMI-GRINDING NOISE AND CLICK. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MECHANIC AND THEY HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED AND IS 'BLOWN'. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 85K MILES.
BOTH FRONT BRAKES LOCKED UP, MECHANIC SAID NEED REPLACE CALIPERS AND HE HAS NEVER SEEN BOTH GO OUT AT SAME TIME. ALSO THE ABS LIGHT WON'T GO OFF. THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING OUT OF CONTROL, AFTER STOPPED AND CHECKED THE ROTORS WERE EXTREMELY HOT, THEY TURNED BLUE FROM THE HEAT.
AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. NO ACCIDENT. AIRBAG HAS NEVER DEPLOYED. ONE DAY TO THE NEXT NO ISSUE. NOW I AM GREATLY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY.
At first, I thought it was due to normal wear on the vehicle. And would need a touch of paint job. I started seeing other vehicle with the same areas of paint issues on the road as mines. 2014 Kia Sorento LX - Pearl White paint peeling around windshield and off hood. Bubbles started forming form under paint and paint blisters and peels away quickly in large chunks from vehicle. Went to dealership and they told me paint is only under warranty for 36k miles, but after seeing all the complaints online with white Sorento, I realized there is a problem with KIA paint. However, they suggested calling Kia directly. When calling them they have no recall for this paint issue that has been caused by a defect in the paint that for some reason happens after their 36k miles warranty.
MY VEHICLE HAS AUTOMATIC LOCKING DOORS AND WILL LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN SHIFTING THE SUV FROM PARK INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE AND THEN WILL UNLOCK ONCE PLACED BACK IN PARK. HOWEVER RECENTLY THIS FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER AND THE LOCKS ON THE DOORS WILL NO LONGER LOCK WHEN SHIFTING THE CAR FROM PARK INTO ANOTHER GEAR CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE. FURTHERMORE, DUE TO THIS ELECTRICAL/SAFETY ISSUE THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DOOR NO LONGER WORKS AND AS WELL DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE. NOR CAN I LOCK THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB. IN GOOGLING THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE FOUND OUT THOUSANDS OF OTHER KIA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THE ONLY REMEDY FROM KIA IS TO REPLACE A $1500 COMPUTER AS IN MANUFACTURING THEY SOLDERED A $3 RELAY SWITCH ONTO THE COMPUTER BOARD AND THEY WILL NOT /CANNOT REPLACE THE FAULTY RELAY THAT SEEMS TO BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. HENCE THIS IS THE REASON WHY I AM REACHING OUT TO THE NHTSA AS I FEEL THAT THIS IS A ELECTRICAL /SAFETY ISSUE AND THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK MY VEHICLE SECURELY IS TO WALK AROUND THE VEHICLE AND LOCK EACH DOOR INDIVIDUALLY. PLEASE HELP ME AND THE OTHER THOUSAND OF KIA OWNERS WHOM ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
