INTERMITTENT DOOR LOCK & TAILGATE ISSUES ... SOMETIMES THEY FUNCTION PROPERLY AND SOMETIMES NOT. PROBLEM IS I SPEND THE ENTIRE DAY AT THE DEALERS AND THE PROBLEM OF COURSE DOES NOT HAPPEN ... SO THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE OR FIX THE PROBLEM ! THEY TELL ME TO BRING IT BACK WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN ! SO IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND REPEAT THE PREVIOUS SCENARIO. WTF ... I WANT THIS ISSUE FIXED ! THIS ISSUE HAPPENS WHEN STOPPED, PARKED, DAY, NIGHT, SUNNY, RAINY IT DOES NOT MATTER ! WHY CAN'T THE DEALERS COMPUTER FIND THIS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM?
I TOOK THE CAR TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME THE ENGINE HAS AN OIL LEAK. I BELIEVE THEIR KIAS SPORTAGE 2011 & 2012 WERE ALSO RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL CARS BEFORE AND NEVER HAD AN OIL LEAK ON THE ENGINE AT ALL. THEY SAID THE REPAIRS WERE GOING TO COST OVER $1000 TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS CAR SHOULD ALSO BE RECALLED DUE THAT THEY HAVE A HISTORY OF OTHER MODELS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THANK YOU.
The lighting (headlights) on low beam are very poor. We live in a rural area and the lighting supplied by the headlights is very poor, making it hard to see items in the road and curves. Turning a corner and staying on the road can be problematic. The lighting forces driver to drive with high beams on to attain minimally sufficient lighting. The bulbs have been replaced with no increase in forward visibility. I should have reported this earlier, but now I feel unsafe in this vehicle at night and we drive it less. These are projector style and they do not go very far in front of the car. A quick check on the web, of Kia Forums show that this is a common complaint, some have the bulbs going out regularly. The Kia forums also mention changing the bulbs to non DOT approved items and other modifications.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed him of an unknown module that needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.
CAR STOPPED OPERATING WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE, AND WON'T RESTART
WHILE SITTING IN OUR 2014 KIA SORENTO LX AWD, 2.4L 4CYCLIDER GDI; THE CAR WAS IDLING IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN HE NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR. HE WAS BEARLY ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR BEFORE IT WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND CONSEQUENTLY BURNED TILL THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT BUT THE FRAME.
I WAS IN MY CAR AROUND 5:45 AM ON DEC. 23,2018, IN THE DRIVEWAY OF OUR PLACE IN THE COUNTRY (400 0AKWOOD DRIVE HUNTSVILLE TX 77320) THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND IN PARK. I WAS CHECKING MESSAGES AND EMAILS FOR MAYBE 7 TO 10 MINUTES WHEN A FLASH OF LIGHT MADE ME LOOK UP. THATS WHEN I SEEN FLAMES COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND TRYED TO LEAVE THE CAR BUT THE DOOR DIDN'T OPEN. IT WAS LOCKED AND THE ELECTRIC DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I PULLED ON THE MANUEL UNLOCK AND WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF CAR. MY NEIGHBOR WAS OUT SIDE COMING TO HELP BUT I ASKED HIM TO CALL FIRE DEPT. HE INFORMED ME THAT WAS ALREADY DONE. I RAN A GOT MY GARDEN HOSE AND POURED WATER ON THE FIRE BUT FIRE WAS WAY TO BIG AND HOT FOR A GARDEN HOSE SO I SPRAYED THE GRASS AROUND THE CAR AND PUT OUT THE FIRES THAT STARED WHEN PARTS OF THE HOT CAR EXPLODED AND LANDED AWAY FROM THE CAR.
SOMETIME TOWARD THE END OF 2018, I NOTICED THAT MY DOME LIGHT NO LONGER ILLUMINATED WHEN THE DOORS WERE OPENED. I CAN STILL USE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS MANUALLY, THOUGH THIS USUALLY LEADS TO FORGETTING AND LEAVING THEM ON. I LIVE IN WA, IT IS OFTEN DARK AROUND 4 PM AND GREY THROUGHOUT THE DAY. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AS I CANNOT SEE WHO IS IN MY CAR BEFORE ENTERING WHEN IN A PARKING LOT. ALSO, MY 5-YEAR-OLD HAS A HARD TIME BUCKLING HER OWN CAR SEAT BELT SINCE SHE CANNOT SEE THE BUCKLE. THIS IS AN INCONVENIENCE AND WITH CRIME RATES RISING, IT MAKES ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE GOING OUT ALONE, KNOWING THAT NOBODY CAN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON WHILE I AM BUCKLING HER IN. THE CHANCES OF BEING MUGGED OR WORSE GO UP, MY SAFETY IS WORTH THE $400, HOWEVER, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE A MALFUNCTION IN THE VEHICLE FIXED. THE REASON I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL IS BECAUSE OF THE 3 KIA'S WE OWN, 2 OF THEM HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ONLY WORKING MANUALLY AND NOT ACTIVATED WITH OPENING THE DOOR. MY HUSBANDS 2011 KIA OPTIMA DOME LIGHT STOPPED WORKING WHEN THE DOORS WERE OPENED AROUND NOVEMBER OF 2017. BOTH OF US HAVE OVER 60,000 MILES ON OUR VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE MALFUNCTION. MY HUSBAND WAS QUOTED OVER $400 TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. WHEN LOOKING AT FORUMS, IT LOOKS AS THOUGH IT IS A CONNECTION THAT WIGGLES LOOSE. I AM SURE THAT IF 2 OF OUR KIA'S HAVE THIS ISSUE, IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY MANY MORE KIA OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. KIA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
I FILED BELOW COMPLAINT NUMBER 11229677 AND HAVE HEARD NOTHING. SO TRYING AGAIN. LAST FALL I RECEIVED A LETTER AND HAD A KSDS SENSOR INSTALLED TO DETECT AND PREVENT ENGINE FAILURE. IN MAR THE KSDS KICKED IN AND THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS ONLY 2 MILES FROM HOME. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR HAZARD. HAVING THE ENGINE SEIZE WITH THE REAL ISSUE IS PROBABLY WORSE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER, WHO GAVE US A LOANER, THEN CALLED US BACK THE NEXT DAY TO SAY THE VEHICLE WAS COVERED FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REPLACED. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER WE CHECKED ON WHEN THE VEH WOULD BE FIXED, WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE DONE WITH OUR VEHICLE. THEY DID SOMETHING TO THE WIRE HARNESS AND A TEST ON THE ENGINE TO SAY THE VEHICLE WAS OK. I WOULD LIKE AN EXPLANATION ON THE SITUATION AND WHY IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. 1.WHY DID THE KSDS KICK IN AND WHY IS MY VEHICLE OK NOW? 2.DID THEY DO SOMETHING (DISABLE) TO PREVENT THE KSDS FROM KICKING IN AGAIN? 3.DID THEY ENHANCE IT TO BETTER DETECT A MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM? WHAT EXACTLY DID THEY DO WITH THE WIRE HARNESS/KSDS? 4.CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE ENGINE TEST DONE THAT VERIFIES MY ENGINE IS OK, AND FOR HOW LONG DOES THIS APPLY? 5.HOW QUICKLY CAN THE REAL ISSUE HAPPEN? 6.WILL MY CAR STILL BE COVERED BY THE LIFETIME WARRANTY? 7.IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY?
TAKATA RECALL ON 12/6/18 I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I REAR ENDED A STOPPED OR SLOW MOVING VEHICLE ON THE EXPRESSWAY. MY CAR WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

I READ MOST UNDER 'STRUCTURE OR OTHER' LISTINGS. THERE IS ALSO A FACEBOOK PAGE FOR ALL TO VIEW AND COMPLAIN FOR 'KIA SORENTO PEARL WHITE PAINT PEELING, CHIPPING AND DELAMINATION'. HOPE THERE IS A LAWYER OUT THERE WHO HAS THIS ISSUE AND CAN FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR ALL OF US. BECAUSE KIA WON'T TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE. HOPEFULLY NHTSA WILL SEE IT AS A ISSUE, MAINLY WHEN THE PEELING OF PAINT AND RUSTING IS OCCURRING AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. THIS JEOPARDIZES THE TIGHT SEAL OF RUBBER HOLDING THE WINDSHIELD IN PLACE. GOD FORBID THE WINDSHIELD DETACHES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THANK YOU ALL.
REAR ALL WHEEL DRIVE COUPLER WILL START A KNOCKING SOUND WHEN ACCELERATING SLOWLY AND TURNING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT FROM A STOP.
The "snow white pearl" paint has a defect. It peels and chips on its own.

WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THEN OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KIA COUNTRY OF SAVANNAH (1 PARK OF COMMERCE BLVD, SAVANNAH, GA 31405, (912) 629-4906) FOR AN UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR CONCERNING THE ENGINE NOT CYCLING THE OIL THROUGH PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN AND LOST POWER WHILE ATTEMPTING A TURN AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO A DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
I HAVE A 2014 KIA SORENTO SXL 3.3 LTR V6 WITH 119, 952 MILES ON IT. ON 11/26/2018 AFTER PULLING IN THE DRIVE WAY AND EXISTING THE CAR I SMELLED WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE AN ANTIFREEZE SMELL.MY CAR DID NOT HAVE ANY WARNING INDICATORS ON AND MY TEMPERTURE GAUGE WAS NORMAL. I TOOK MY CAR TO DOBBS ON 11/27/2018, PAID $30.95 AND TOLD IT WAS LEAKING HEAD GASKETS WHICH COST $4500-$5000 TO REPAIR. I DECIDED TO CALL KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A KIA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY DECIDED I NEEDED A MOTOR, THE COST WOULD BE $7600. I THEN CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS BACK AND WAS TOLD BY THE AGENT SHE WOULD SUBMIT A REQUEST FOR A GOODWILL REPAIR. KIA AGREED TO REPLACE MY MOTOR AS THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED, BUT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR LABOR AT $140/HOUR FOR 21.4 HOURS. I REALLY APPRECIATE KIA REPLACING THE MOTOR, OBVIOUSLY DUE TO SOME TYPE OF DEFECT.WONDERING IF THERE WILL SOON BE A RECALL ON IT. I'VE HAD 2 STEERING COLUMNS INSTALLED, ALTERNATOR, LOWER OIL PAN AND STILL A POPPING NOISE. I WAS TOLD ON THE 4TH TIME OF COMPLAINING TO DEALER SERVICES, THEY TIGHTEN AN AXLE NUT. WELL THE NUT MUST BE LOOSE AGAIN BECAUSE THE POPPING IS BACK. COULD THIS BE A PROBLEM WITH THE AXLE WHICH HAS BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER MODELS?SHOULD MY MOTOR ALSO HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE MOTORS MOST RECENTLY RECALLED. COULD MY STRUT HAVE STARTED LEAKING DUE TO AN ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF CORROSION SUBSTANCE NOT BEING APPLIED ? I REPLACIND MY STRUTS,ROTORS, BREAKS AND 4 NEW TIRES. I LOVE MY CAR, THIS IS MY SECOND KIA.I AM GREATFUL, BUT A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED ABOUT PAYING $3000. MY 2 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER PASSED AWAY IN HER SLEEP ON MARCH 15. 2017 AND LEFT ME WITH THE STRESS OF LOSING HER, FUNERAL COST AND NOW THIS. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER; THEREFORE MONEY IS TIGHT. CARS SIMILAR TO MINE HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO FAULTY MOTORS AND THAT IS REALLY A SCARY THOUGHT.
MY 2014 KIA SORENTO IS HAVING TERRIBLE ENGINE ISSUES. I HAVE HAD IT REBUILT AND THERE ARE STILL PROBLEMS AND NO ONE IS WANTING TO HELP ME. I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THESE PROBLEMS FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THEY JUST PASSED ON THE PROBLEM. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JULY 2017. THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS RUN HOT AND THE ENGINE HAS NEVER SOUNDED GOOD. THE CAR BURNS OIL VERY FAST AND THE GAS MILEAGE IS HORRIBLE. NOW I HAVE NO POWER WHEN I PRESS THE GAS IT HAS NO GET UP. THE CAR SEEMS LIKE IT IS GOING TO DIE. THE CAR ALSO SHAKES VERY BAD. I HAVE NEW BABY AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS FLASHING. THE TIMING SEEMS OFF TOTALLY. I ALSO THINK THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. THERE IS OIL RUNNING DOWN PLACES ON AND AROUND THE ENGINE THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE OIL ON THEM AND IT IS SLUDGE LIKE OIL. I CANT HARDLY MAKE IT THROUGH A TURN I HAVE TO MAKE SURE ABSOLUTELY NO ONE IS AROUND IF NOT I WILL GET HIT BECAUSE THE POWER IS GONE MOST OF THE TIME. IT COMES AND GOES.
DRIVING AT APPROX 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING A FAINT KNOCKING SOUND WHICH VERY QUICKLY TURNED INTO A MORE RAPID HECTIC KNOCKING SOUND. AS I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY THE SOUND CONTINUED TO INTENSIFY AND THE ENGINE KNOCKING THEN BECAME EXTREMELY LOUD ALMOST COMPLETELY DISABLING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAPPENED VERY QUICKLY LEAVING ME VERY LITTLE TIME TO REACT TO THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS DUE TO A CONNECTING ROD BEARING FAILURE.
THE STEERING COLUMN RATTLES AS THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
MY 2014 KIA SORENTO HAS DRASTICALLY CHIPPED ON ITS OWN THE PAINT PEELS OFF EVERY-TIME I WASH MY CAR, THE PAINT OVER TIME HAS GOTTEN A LOT WORSE.
THE DRIVER'S DOOR UNLOCKS WITH THE KEY FOB OR KEY AND THAT'S THE ONLY ONE. ALL OTHER DOORS MUST BE UNLOCKED BY HAND, MEANING EVEN THE UNLOCK SWITCH ON THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS DOORS DON'T WORK. YOU CAN HEAR SOMETHING ACTUATING, BUT THE DOORS WON'T UNLOCK. THE BACK DOOR YOU NEED TO CRAWL FROM INSIDE REMOVE A PANEL TO UNLOCK THE BACK DOOR.
PAINT HAS BEEN CHIPPING ON MY 2014 KIA SORENTO WHITE PEARL. I BOUGHT THIS CAR THROUGH AAA AUTO SALES AND WAS ALREADY CHIPPING. NOW I READ ONLINE THAT IT'S BEEN A BIG PROBLEM. I AM UNSURE OF THE DATE THAT IT STARTED BUT I CERTAINLY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET MY CAR REPAINTED AND ADVANCED AUTO DOESN'T CARRY THE TOUCH UP PAINT.
NOTICED TONIGHT DRIVING IN THE DARK THAT MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. THE LITTLE SMALL LED LIGHTS ABOVE THE LIGHTS WORK AND MY HIGH BEAMS WORK ALSO.I FIND IT HARD THAT BOTH LOW BEAMS WOULD BURN OUT AT THE SAME TIME. ALL THREE GREEN LIGHT INDICATORS ON MY DASH SHOW THAT MY LIGHTS ARE ON OR WORKING ALONG WITH MY LOWER FOG LIGHTS.
ACCELERATION. WHEN I ACCELERATE IT HESITATES TO PICK UP. VERY DANGEROUS AS I WAS TRYING TO MERGE INTO THE HIGHWAY OR MERGE INTO A DIFFERENT LANE IT DID NOT ACCELERATE QUICKLY ENOUGH AND THE VEHICLES IN THAT LANE HAD TO BRAKE HARD AS I ENTERED THAT LANE ALMOST REAR ENDING MY VEHICLE. EVEN IF I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL HARD IT DOES THE SAME THING, IT HESITATES BEFORE SPEEDING UP. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON FROM BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES WORK SOMETIMES AND DOESN'T WORK SOMETIMES. EVEN WHEN I'M DRIVING THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK WITH THE AUTO DOOR LOCK FEATURE ON WHEN VEHICLE GETS IN MOTION. I HAVE TO MANUALLY PUSH THE LOCK BUTTON FOR EACH DOOR AND WHEN I MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS THAT IS WHEN THE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTONS WILL WORK PROPERLY. HAD CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT AND WHILE I TRIED TO LOCK THE DOOR IT WOULD NOT LOCK. HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO HAND LOCK EACH DOOR. BUT VERY DANGEROUS EITHER WAY BECAUSE I CAN'T CONTROL WHAT KIDS WILL DO IN THE BACK IN MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND IF I TRY TO LOCK THE DOOR I WON'T BE ABLE TO.
THE END OF OCTOBER 2018 MY 2014 KIA SORENTO MOTOR BLEW UP. WE HEARD THE KNOCKING ON A WEEKEND, KIA SAID TO BRING IT IN AND IT STALLED HALFWAY THERE. HAD TO CALL MY INSURANCE BECAUSE KIA WOULD NOT PAY FOR TOWING. MY KIA HAD BEEN CHECKED THE YEAR BEFORE FOR THE ENGINE RECALL, OF COURSE IT PASSED. IT TOOK 2 MONTHS TO GET MY CAR BACK, THEY DID PROVIDE A RENTAL. A MONTH LATER (JAN. 2019) I SMELLED GASOLINE VERY STRONG IN MY CAR. HAD MY HUSBAND TEST DRIVE IT TO MAKE SURE THAT IS WHAT IT WAS BECAUSE I HAD JUST PUT IN A FULL TANK OF GAS. SURE ENOUGH I CALLED WARNER KIA OF PARKERSBURG AGAIN, ONCE AGAIN REFUSED TOWING EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH THE FUEL LINES FROM THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. I HAD TO CALL KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO GET THIS CAR TOWED TO WARNER KIA. TURNS OUT THEY FORGOT TO REPLACE A BRACKET DURING THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT, NOT VERY SMART IN MY OPINION FOR SO CALLED CERTIFIED MECHANICS. I GOT IT BACK AGAIN FEB. 2019. NOW IT IS MARCH 2019, MY TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO BE SLIPPING, HESITATING TO PICK UP SPEED. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A SEMI TRYING TO GET ONTO THE INTERSTATE BECAUSE CAR WOULD NOT GO FAST ENOUGH. MY UNCLE TRIED TO SEE IF HE COULD CHECK MY TRANSMISSION FLUID AND OF COURSE IT IS ENCASED, BUT WHILE DOING THIS HE NOTICED THE ENGINE COOLANT WAS VERY LOW. THE LEVEL IS BELOW L. MY ENGINE WAS JUST REPLACED NOT TOO LONG AGO AND IT WAS IN THE SHOP AGAIN FOR MORE WORK JUST LAST MONTH. I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED. I HAVE MADE CONCERNS WITH KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANYWHERE. I WILL OWE ON THIS CAR FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT WON'T LAST. ALSO UPSIDE DOWN ON LOAN. NOW I AM SCARED THAT MY CAR WILL CATCH ON FIRE OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN MY CAR ALL BECAUSE KIA CAN NOT MAKE BETTER VEHICLES OR AT LEAST TRY TO REIMBURSE THEIR CUSTOMERS TO KEEP THEM HAPPY. I WANT A NEW CAR, AND I WANT KIA TO PAY FOR IT AND OTHERS VEHICLES.
GOT IN MY CAR AND THE DRIVER SEAT BROKE. IT SITS SIDEWAYS AND CAN'T ADJUST SEAT. THEN I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND HASN'T WENT OFF.
HAVE HAD TAILLIGHT BULBS REPLACED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. AS SOON AS ONE IS REPLACED, ANOTHER BLOWS. SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. ALSO, HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT ADJUSTED DOWNWARD. HAVE HAD ADJUSTED BY DEALERSHIP, BUT STILL CANNOT SEE AT NIGHT! HEADLAMPS DO NOT LIGHT ROAD AHEAD OF THE VEHICLE.
Kia Sorento 2014 is peeling ridiculously! The car is been well kept and maintenance up to date, almost all services at Kia dealership.
MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE GEORGIA PLANT BUT WAS NOT PART OF THE 2 PREVIOUS RECALLS, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MANUFACTURED THAT THE SAME TIME, BECAUSE IT HAS THE LAMBDA 3.3L V6 ENGINE. AFTER ALL THE TROUBLES I HAVE HAD WITH THE VEHICLE, LOCKS DONT UNLOCK, ENGINE IS FAILING, AND NOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VALVES. A VALVE CAN BE HEARD TAPPING IN MY CARS ENGINE, IT SOUNDS AND FEELS (VIBRATIONS CAN BE FELT BY HAND) THAT IT IS ALMOST CERTAINLY IN BANK 2 (TOWARDS FRONT OF CAR) ALMOST DIRECTLY BELOW/BEHIND THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. NOW HYPOTHETICALLY IF I WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VALVE DROPPED, CONSEQUENTLY PUNCHING A WHOLE IN THE CYLINDER HEAD, FORCING OIL THROUGH THE WHOLE, AND IGNITING IT, I WOULD THINK THAT IT WOULDNT TAKE MORE THAN A FEW MOMENTS FOR THE FLAMES TO CATCH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND VERY SHORTLY AFTER ENGULFING THE ENTIRE ENGINE AND VEHICLE IN FLAMES. I AM ALSO SURE THEIR ARE LIKELY MANY OTHER SCENARIOS THAT ARE POSSIBLE, BUT WITH ALL THE ENGINE PROBLEMS MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING WHILE STILL UNDER 80K MILES. THIS ONE SEEMS PRETTY TERRIFYING TO ME, ESPECIALLY WITH 3 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACK WITH DOORS THAT DONT UNLOCK! AND OF COURSE KIA IS TOO BUSY TRYING TO TWIST THE SITUATION AND BLAME CONSUMERS TO EVEN C OI NSIDER DOING THE RIGHT THING AND STANDING BEHIND THEIR OWN PRODUCTS. I HAVE HARDLY DRIVEN MY VEHICLE AT ALL SINCE THE ENGINE STARTED FAILING IN JUNE, AND I BELIEVE IT HAS ALWAYS HAD THIS NOISE (DEALERSHIP HAD INSISTED IT WAS THE GDI NORMAL NOISE WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE)TO LAST WEEK O HAPPENED TO NJ PRICE THE NK OISE GETTING LOUDER AND ASKED A MECHANIC WHAT IS COULD BE. THAT MECHANIC STATED IT DEFINATELY SOUNDED LIKE A VALVE.

THE DIAGNOSIS IS: ERROR CODE P0717 TURBINE INPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR AND WIRING HARNESS FAULTY DUE TO CORROSION FROM MOISTURE GETTING IN FROM NOT HAVING ADEQUATE SEALING OR POOR QUALITY OF RUBBER SEAL. PULLING OUT OF STORES OR MY DRIVEWAY BECAME VERY DAMAGES AS YOU COULD IMAGINE AND I FEEL THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ADDRESS ANY AND ALL LOSS OF POWER ISSUE CAUSE IT CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH! I HOPE YOU AGREE AND TAKE ACTION TO HELP US ALL OUT PLEASE.
THE PAINT BEGAN TO RAPIDLY PEEL AND DELAMINATE FROM THE BODY OF MY CAR AFTER THE 36,000 MILE PAINT WARRANTY EXPIRED ON MY 2014 KIA SORENTO PEARL WHITE SORENTO. THE RIGHT SIDE ARM OF THE WINDSHIELD AREA RAPIDLY PEELED AND BEGAN TO RUST THEN THE LEFT SIDE ARM OF MY WINDSHIELD BEGAN TO PEEL , DELAMINATE AND RUST . AFTER THIS THE TOP OF MY ROOF AROUND THE WINDSHIELD THEN THE HOOD. THIS IS CAUSING GREAT BODILY DAMAGE TO THE SAFETY OF MY WINDSHIELD. THE KIA DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO HELP DUE TO THE MILEAGE BUT THIS IS REPORTED ON MANY ( PEARL WHITE KIA SORENTOS 2014/2015 ) I HAVE PROOF AND PHOTOS OF OVER 60 KIAS ON A FACEBOOK PAGE I CREATED TO GET THIS RECALLED BY KIA.

OUR SORENTO'S DRIVE TRAIN "CAME APART" INSIDE THE REAR HOUSING CAUSING THE DRIVETRAIN AND AXLES TO SEPARATE AND THE GEARS TO BE PROPELLED UP INTO THE HOUSING. WE WERE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP WHEN IT HAPPENED AS WE NOTICED A LEAD COMING FROM THE REAR - WE HADN'T NOTICED IT PREVIOUSLY. MECHANICS ARE ESTIMATING MULTIPLE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS FOR THE DRIVE TRAIN, REAR AXLES, ETC. I WAS FORTUNATELY ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER AS SOON AS I FELT THE DRIVETRAIN "GIVE OUT."
MY VEHICLE STALLS IN MOTION. SPEED IS INCONSEQUENTIAL. WHETHER I'M ON A CITY ROAD OR EXPRESSWAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLICKERS, AND THE ENGINE STALLS. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS ON THE EXPRESSWAY. I HAVE TO COAST IN FRONT OF OTHER SPEEDING CARE TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WILL START AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS OFF AGAIN. THE SITUATION REPEATS ITSELF. CHECK ENGINE CODE REFLECTS FAULTY MAP SENSOR. IT'S BEEN REPLACED TWICE. I CONTINUE PAYING FOR DIAGNOSES, BUT THE ANSWER IS THE SAME. MAP SENSOR, OR WE DON'T KNOW. IT CONTINUES TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. NOW THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED, AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S RELATED OR AN AIRBAG ISSUE, AND I CAN'T CONTINUE PAYING FOR THE KIA DEALER, OR CERTIFIED REPAIR SHOPS TO CHARGE ME ONLY TO SAY "I'M NOT SURE." THE BUTTONS ON MY STEERING WHEEL ARE NO LONGER WORKING CONSISTENTLY. SOMETIMES THEY DO, SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. IT'S RANDOM. ONE REPAIR FACILITY SAID THEY CAN REPLACE MY MAIN COMPUTER FOR ABOUT $2000, BUT THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE IT WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.

NEVER ANY MAJOR ISSUES WITH CAR UNTIL THE PAST YEAR. HAVE REPLACED BRAKES AND WHEEL SENSOR AND DOES NOIR FIX PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO SWITCH BETWEEN PARK, NEUTRAL, DRIVE AND REVERSE. AFRAID OF A MALFUNCTION THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. NOTHING SHOWS ON COMPUTER WHEN RAN. HAVE TO PRESS HARD IN PARK TO KEEP CAR FROM MOVING ON ITS OWN. RANDOMLY JUST SHUTS DOWN AND WON'T START UNLESS YOU MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. VEHICLE DOESN'T WANT TO STOP ON A DRY ROAD WITH BRAND NEW BRAKES INSTALLED.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY CAR DIED OUT OF NOWHERE. IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN AFTERWARDS. ALL POWER SHUTS OFF AND I AM ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES BUT BECOMING MORE FREQUENT BUT STILL RANDOM.
MILEAGE 116,145. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY COMING DOWN A STEEP GRADE GOING STRAIGHT. IN THE FAST LANE I WAS GOING 75MPH AND THEN RAPIDILY EXCELERATED TO 82MPH ( THE RPMS JUMPED TO THE 6/7 RANGE). THE ENGINE COMPLETE STOPPED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OIL LIGHT, POWER STEERING AND BATTERY LIGHT ALL CAME ON. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND RAPIDLY BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. WENT FROM 80 TO 50 IN A MATTER OF 10 SECONDS. I WAS ALMOST CRUSHED BY A SEMI TRUCK AS I DESPERATELY TRIED TO MOVE THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER LANE. THE CAR WAS BARLEY ABLE TO COAST AND IT WAS A STRUGGLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE OFF THE HIGHWAY. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SAT WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK FOR 30 MINUTES - I TOOK A PHOTO OF THE WARNING LIGHTS THAT REMAINED ON. TOWING COMPANY CHECKED ALL FLUIDS , GAS, ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, BELTS AND ALL WERE IN WORKING CONDITION. THERE WAS NO INDICATION WHY THIS HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF.

My 2014 KIA Sorento has paint peeling off in sheets. It started in 2017 when the car was only 4 years old. The dealership admitted that they knew it was a defect in the paint but refused to fix it because it was past the warranty date. I've heard that many other KIA owners are having the same issue, particularly with the Pearl White paint. I believe KIA should issue a recall and fix this known defect.
I HAVE A 2014 LX WITH NOTHING SPECIAL OTHER THAN HEATED FRONT SEATS. REGULAR IGNITION, 6CYL WITH ALMOST 148K MILES. ISSUE 1- AT APPROX 100K MY DASH STARTED LIGHTING UP WITH ABS, E-BRAKE, TRAC, AND TPS LIGHTS. EBRAKE AND TPS WERE INTERMITTENT AND ONLY CAME ON AFTER IT RAINED IT SEEMED. AFTER PLUGGING IT UP AND GETTING NO CODES I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER JUNE 2017 AND THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS NO BIG DEAL BUT IT WAS PART OF A RECALL FOR A SENSOR. HOWEVER, KIA HAD NOT PROVIDED THEM WITH THE NECESSARY TOOLS TO FIX IT. IT'S NOW AUGUST 2018 AND I AM STILL WAITING. ISSUE 2- AT APPROX 130K MILES MY STEERING CONTROLS FOR BLUETOOTH AND RADIO STOPPED WORKING. THE RADIO ITSELF WORKS, BUT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SEEK OR ADJUST VOLUME WITH STEERING CONTROLS THE VOICE COMMAND POPS UP. ISSUE 3- AT APPROX 145K CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. I CAN TURN IT ON AND SET SPEED, BUT IN LESS THAN A MILE IT DISENGAGES. I HAVE FOUND IF I TURN OFF THE ECO IT WORKS AS IT SHOULD. ISSUE 4 I FOUND TODAY. AFTER GETTING A MESSAGE FROM A RANDOM STRANGER THROUGH MY ADVERTISED BUSINESS ON THE BACK WINDOW I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS EXCEPT FOR THE ONE ON TOP (THIRD). I JUST REPLACED THEM IN JULY AFTER A RANDOM STRANGER TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE OUT. WHEN I GOT THE MESSAGE (AFTER MAKING MY 60 MILE COMMUTE TO WORK) I GRABBED A COWORKER TO COME OUT AND TROUBLESHOOT WITH ME. WE CHECKED FUSES AND THEY ARE FINE. THIRD LIGHT WORKS, TAIL LIGHTS WORK, TURN SIGNALS AND BACKUP LIGHTS WORK. WE TOOK APART THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND PULLED THE BULBS TO CHECK THEM AND THE BULBS ARE STILL INTACT (FILAMENT STILL COMPLETELY INTACT) BUT THE BULBS ARE CHARRED BLACK AND THE HARNESS SOCKET APPEARS TO HAVE GOTTEN EXTREMELY HOT. ALSO THE BOTTOM OF THE BULB IS GLOSSY LIKE IT MELTED.
THE DELAMINATION OF PEARL WHITE PAINT BEGAN AT 50,000K MILES WITH A SMALL PIECE BUBBLING AND THEN CHIPPING AWAY. THE PAINT ON AREAS ALONG THE WINDSHEILD AND ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD ARE NOW COMPLETELY READY TO PEAL. YOU CAN NOT STOP THIS PROCESS BY FIXING ONLY THE DAMAGED AREAS. ALL AUTO BODY SHOPS STATE IS MUST BE ENTIRELY REPAINTED. THE PAINT IS DELAMINATING AT A FAST RATE, ALL MY PAINT IS GONE ON THE PASSAGENGER SIDE WINDOW ARM AND MY ROOF WHERE THE WINDSHIELD MEETS THE PAINT IS MOSTLY BUBBLING AND RUSTED. THE KIA DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE THAT THIS PARTICULAR COLOR , MADE AND MODEL KIA HAS THIS PROBLEM. I CAN NOT WASH THE EXTERIOR OF MY CAR WITHOUT LOSING MORE PAINT. IN THE SUNLIGHT YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE PAINT IS NOT LONGER BONDED TO THE CAR. MY CAR IS EXPECTED TO BE WITHOUT PAINT ON MY ROOF, HOOD AND SIDES OF WINDSHIELDS WITHIN ONE YEAR IF NOT REPAINTED PROPERLY.
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AS I AM DRIVING. SOMETIMES, THE SPEEDOMETER MOVES QUICKLY OVER THE INCORRECT SPEEDS SO I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT SPEED I AM GOING. IT'S ONLY A FOUR YEAR OLD CAR WITH 56,000 MILES. ALSO, SAME VEHICLE HAS ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK DOOR. CANNOT OPEN USING THE SWITCH INSIDE THE CAR. MUST USE THE EMERGENCY PULL INSIDE A TRUNK COMPARTMENT.
ON OR ABOUT 8/15/2018 @11:45 PM I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR / DEER ACCIDENT. A SMALL HEARD OF DEER BOUNDED OUT OF THE WOODS AND ONE JUMPED OVER THE FRONT OF MY CAR. I SWERVED RIGHT AND HIT HEAD ON WITH A TREE AT ABOUT 45/50 MPH. THE CAR CONTACTED AROUND THE INSIDE OF THE PASSENGERS HEADLIGHT. "THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY". I CONTACTED KIA OF AMERICA AND SPOKE WITH A MR. GUSTAVO. A CLAIMS PERSON, AND OF COURSE TOLD HIM THE WHOLE STORY OF THE ACCIDENT. HE ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED TO HAPPEN / DO. I EXPLAINED THAT I WANTED KIA TO SENT OUT A RECOVERY TEAM TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS DEFECTIVE, UNSAFE AND A DANGER TO DRIVE AND THAT THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS GOING TO PUT MY WIFE AND CHILDREN BACK INTO THAT CAR. THEN ON OR ABOUT 9/6/2018 @12:08 MR. GUSTAVO CALLED ME AND INFORMED ME THAT KIA, MORE OR LESS, REFUSED ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY WERE NOT GOING TO DO ANY THING TO HELP ME OUT WITH THIS VEHICLE. I ASKED TO BE PUT THRU TO A SUPERVISOR AT THAT POINT WHO IS A MR. JEFF STROUPA, CLAIMS SUPERVISOR # 949-468-4620. I EXPLAINED THE WHOLE SITUATION TO HIM AND THAT MY WIFE IS COMPLETELY AFFAIRD TO DRIVE THE CAR AND REFUSES TO PUT OUR CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AS IT IS DEFECTIVE, UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE DESTROYED. IN MY REQUEST TO KIA I ASKED THEM TO SENT OUT A RESPONSE TEAM TO RECOVER THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS DEFECTIVE, UNSAFE AND A DANGER TO PUT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOLD KIA THAT THERE IS NO WAY I'M NEVER GOING TO PUT MY WIFE AND / OR OUR FAMILY, CHILDREN, BACK IN THAT VEHICLE.
TURN THE VEHICLE OFF SO I COULD PULL IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I UNLOCKED MY GATE CAR WOULD NOT START BACK IT WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD I HAD PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY AND I HAVE ALSO BOUGHT A NEW STARTER
