Left out for work one morning as normal. Everything was ok no lights no warnings no problems. I was driving approximately 25-30 mph when my speed began to decelerate, a knocking noise, the check engine and oil light came on and my vehicle just stopped. After about 10-15 mins I could restart the car and drive to a safe parking lot off the street. When I started the car back up the knocking sound was even worse. In the parking lot, all the fluids were checked and there was not one drop of oil in the engine. I took the vehicle to the shop and was told the engine was done. It would need to be replaced. The mechanic explained that there had been a problem with the engines burning up oil in the 2011-2014 Kia's. Thankfully, I was on a local road during morning travel, not the highway. I shudder to think of what may have happened if I suddenly started to decelerate at highway speeds and was hit by another vehicle.
Car was traveling from Atlanta and the speed odometer on the car showed it was dropping then knock noise pull over then I made to exit and check oil Guage the sensor lights never showed when I had picked up the person house I took to said it was crank sensor and started it heard knocking sound and I call NHTSA reported incident and was giving a claim number haven't heard anything since I no its recall on engine cause I had received paperwork that it was and also saw report on news
Doing speed limit of 70 lost power for no reason had 3 mo left 500 minutes from home on vacation towed home thank God was able to get off the free way .Tried getting Kia to fix said since it was 3 .3 engine not 4 cylinder the couldn't fix it.same problem metal in oil and on dip stick see now 2017 3.3 same problem someone going to get hurt or worse now I need a lawyer.left no car and disabled
I was driving and my car started acting like it was stalling out. I pulled over and put it in park and turned off the engine. I tried to restart, didnt restart. Let it sit a minute, and tried to restart again, it did. I drove straight back home about 2 miles away and didn't drive it further. There were no indicator lights on, so we had no idea what had just happened. My husband checked the oil, everything was ok. Drove it a few days later, was driving around just fine for about 30 minutes, then the same thing happened, I heard a clanking/stalling noise coming from the engine, and it was stalling out. Thankfully, I was able to pull over to a residential street and had to get it towed to my mechanic. Again, NO senor lights were on. My mechanic looked at it, and was baffled, because he said basically my engine is shot. I have always maintained my vehicle with oil changes, and tune-ups, and everything else, there were no indicator lights telling me something was wrong. I am completely upset and baffled at how my motor just stops working for no reason at all!
The white pearl paint is rapidly chipping off from the roof above the drivers seat. This is a very common and know issue on all Kia Sorento's beginning in 2011 into the latest models with White Pearl paint. There are multiple forum postings and Facebook groups discussing this issue. Separately, all steering wheel control buttons have stopped working (volume, radio tuner, cruise control, etc.). Before the controls completely went out the cruise control was extremely dangerous to use and would speed up on continuously on its own without driver input. Pressing the deceleration button would also make it accelerate if cruise control was set.
MY VEHICLE KEEPS HAVING ISSUES WITH OIL. I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES AN I HAVE TO PUT OIL IN IT EITHER EVERY 2WEEKS EVEN AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. I HAVE HAD AN OIL COMPSUMPTION TEST AN HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. THERE ARE NO OIL LEAKS AT ALL. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY IN CRUISE CONTROL WHEN IT ALL OF SUDDEN CAME OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL THEN I NOTICED MY RPM GAUGE WASN'T WORKING ALSO. I THEN CAME TO A LIGHT AN WHEN I STARTED TO GO I NOTICED MY CAR BEING SLUGGISH TO REACH 60MPH. I AT ONE TIME HAD MY PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. IT ALSO ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL ON ME. I MADE IT HOME AN INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHERE I TURNED IT OFF AN BACK ON WHICH AT THAT POINT MY RMP GAUGE STARTED WORKING AN THE CAR ACTED NORMAL. I HAVE ASKED KIA ABOUT THIS PROBLEM NUMEROUS OF TIMES AN I GET NO WHERE. THEY SAY WELL WE SEE THAT THE CONSUMPTION TEST CAME BACK IN THE STANDARD RANGE. I HAVE NO LEAKS AN I HAVE TO PUT OIL IN MY CAR ON A REGULAR BASES. I CAN BE ONLY 4,000 AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AN FEEL IT ACTIING UP AN THEN I CK MY OIL AN MY DIP STICK IS CLEAN NO OIL SO THEN I HAVE TO ADD MORE OIL. IN THE TELEPHONE CONVERSATION THEY INDICATED THAT THE COST OF THE INSPECTION STARTS AT $ 65 DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF PROBLEM. I HAD A CONVERSATION WITH ANOTHER KIA REPRESENTATIVE FROM KENNEDY EXPLAINING MY SITUATION WITH KIA FROM AGUADILLA, BEING SPECIFIC THAT THE RECALL CLEARLY INDICATES THAT IN BOTH 1 AND 4 RECALLS, LIFE CAN BE AT STAKE WITHOUT THE PARTS NOT BEING CORRECTED IN TIME. MY ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT 118,119 AND EQUIPPED WITH KNOCK SENSOR SAFTEY SOFTWARE TO AVOID ANOTHER ENGINE FAILURE. AT 139,505 MY KNOCK SENSOR SOFTWARE ACTIVATED WITH. NO ADVANCE WARNING AS I WAS MAKING AN ACCELERATED LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. I WAS IN A STATIONARY POSITION WITH MY LEFT BLINKER ON JUDGING WHEN TO TURN LEFT IN FRONT OF WESTWARD MOVING TRAFFIC. AS I CHOOSE THE MOMENT TO QUICKLY ACCELERATE AND MAKE THE TURN IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC THE KNOCK SENSOR WAS ACTIVATED, PUTTING THE CAR IN LIMP HOME MODE NOT ALLOWING ME TO ACCELERATE TO SAFTEY. TWO CARS TRAVELING WESTBOUND HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS IN ORDER NOT TO HIT ME. I MADE IT TO THE MIDDLE LANE DIVING TRAFFIC AND THEN HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP IN ORDER TO GET IN OUT OF KNOCK SENSOR LIMP HOME MODE. THE SAFTEY EQUIPMENT INSTALLED TO KEEP ME SAFE IN-FACT DID THE OPPOSITE AND PUT ME IN HARMS WAY.
CAR WAS IN DRIVE IN A PARKING LOT, WHEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS PUSHED IT STUCK AND WOULD NOT RELEASE, CAR SPED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED EVEN WITH BRAKE AND EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. I TRIED TAKING CAR OUT OF GEAR AND IT WENT INTO REVERSE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. FINALLY I WAS ABLE TO TURN CAR OFF BUT I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY TRUCK SHUTS DOWN, BASICALLY THE WHEEL LOCKS AND THE TRUCK LOSES POWER, AND RESTARTS BY ITSELF. RECENTLY I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT, OIL LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST SPEED, I STEPPED ON THE GAS AND TRUCK WAS NOT MOVING, I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AND LOST COMPLETE POWER. I DID NOTICE WHEN I TURNED OFF THE AIR CONDITIONING THE TRUCK WOULD START BUT AS SOON AS I TURNED ON THE AC THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I HAVE HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH THIS TRUCK SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH UP A HILL, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO DECELERATE TO 40 MPH OR LESS. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BEARING ROD INSIDE THE ENGINE FAILED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS TOWED TO JIM SHORKEY KIA (LOCATED AT 12900 US-30, IRWIN, PA 15642, (724) 241-0176) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BEARING ROD INSIDE THE ENGINE FAILED, AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 13201482. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
CRUISE CONTROL MECHANISM IS WORKING IMPROPERLY. DOES NOT ALWAYS TURN ON, SOME TIMES CAN SET CRUISE WITH THE CANCEL BUTTON. CAN NEVER SET WITH THE ACTUAL SET BUTTON. VERY FAULTY AND DANGEROUS
MY SORENTO FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL, ESPECIALLY WHEN ACCELERATING. IT'S ALSO BURNING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE. THE OIL LAMP FLICKERED ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE IS NO OBVIOUS OIL LEAK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE IT THAT IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE 17V224 RECALL. I'M AFRAID THAT THE ENGINE IS FAILING AND THAT IT IS KIA'S RESPONSIBILITY, BUT THEY ARE IGNORING THE PROBLEM
RECALL : IT ISN'T ON RECALL LIST BUT HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS THE OTHER RECALLS FOR SAME VEHICLE AND YEAR. WAS DRIVING AND ENGINE STALLED ON THE LOOP, I WAS ALMOST HIT BY MULTIPLE CARS. I FINALLY GOT THE KIA TO START AND IT BEGAN TO MAKE LOUD TAPPING NOISE AND NOT LETTING RPMS REACH 3K. NOBODY SEEMS TO WANT TO HELP SINCE THE CAR ONLY HAS 87K MILES AND NOW THE ENGINE IS FAILING FOR NO REASON. I BELIEVE IF THE ENGINE IS DOING THE SAME THING AS THE OTHER RECALLS, WHY HAVEN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS KIA.?? I'VE TRIED CALLING DEALERS AND ETC NOBODY IS HELPING ME.
ON 7/5/2014 9:00 A.M. I PLACE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, TURNED THE KEY BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER TO START. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ACCELERATION ISSUE ALSO.
BOUGHT A PRE-CERTIFIED USED 2014 KIA SORENTO SXL. PASSED ALL 150 INSPECTION. LESS THAN 24 HRS AFTER BUYING THE CAR, THE FOLLOWING MORNING MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL A SUDDEN THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHE WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WAS GOING 5 MPH. SHE WAS SO SCARED, SPECIALLY BEING PREGNANT, THAT THE CARS WERE GOING TO HIT HER. SHE TRIED GETTING INTO THE SHOULDER BUT SHE WAS GOING SO SLOW THAT CARS WERE ZIPPING PASS HER. THANKFULLY SHE ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!!! AFTER GETTING TO A SAFE AREA, SHE TURNED THE CAR BACK OFF AND ON, THE CAR WORKED PERFECTLY FINE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEIR COMPUTER SENSOR COULDN'T PICK UP ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. SO LONG STORY SHORT, NOTHING WAS DONE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY FOR 2016 KIA SORENTO. THE AFFECTED SORENTO WERE BUILT FROM OCT 27, 2014 AND JAN 29, 2015. OUR CAR JUST MISSED IT BY A FEW MONTHS. I GUESS KIA IS JUST WAITING FOR A HUGE ACCIDENT FOR THEM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I HOPE IT WOULDN'T BE US.
TURNING TO PARK MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT, TOOK A SLIGHT TURN INTO THE SPOT AND THE CAR SHOT UP THE INCLINE LIKE A ROCKET BY ITS SELF.
WHILE ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY, THE CAR SEEMED TO LOSE POWER. IT CONTINUED TO RUN FOR A WHILE, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 60 MPH. LIGHT WENT ON INDICATING ENGINE PROBLEM. PULLED CAR OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT DIED COMPLETELY. WE HAD A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO. AFTER BRINGING THE CAR INTO OUR DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES 2 YEARS AGO, OUR KIA DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND RESET SOME ELECTRICAL PORTION OF THE CAR. BOTH TIMES THAT THIS (2015 AND 2013/4) HAPPENED WE HAD OUR YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR.
WHEN DRIVING THE SORENTO SX WEARING SUNGLASSES, THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE IS VIRTUALLY INVISIBLE. YOU CAN'T READILY CONFIRM THE VEHICLE'S SPEED. YOU HAVE TO TILT YOUR HEAD AND PEER UNDER OR OVER THE SUNGLASSES TO SEE THE NEEDLE WHICH IS TOO DARK AGAINST THE BLACK BACKGROUND. THIS MEANS YOUR EYES ARE OFF THE ROAD FAR LONGER THAN THE TYPICAL GLANCE NEEDED WITH TRADITIONAL SPEEDOMETERS. THIS DESIGN FLAW WILL UNDOUBTEDLY LEAD TO UNNECESSARY ACCIDENTS, INJURY AND DEATH. *JS
