I OWN A 2014 KIA SOUL, PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE DEALER WITH 12 MILES ON IT. CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 89,000 MILES AND I WAS INFORMED BY MY DEALER THAT THE CONVERTER HAS A BUILD UP FROM EVERYDAY USE AND MUST BE REPLACED FOR 2100.00. PREVIOUS KIA SOULS HAD A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM PRIOR TO 2014. BASICALLY WHEN ACCELERATING I FELT AS IF THE CAR WAS STRUGGLING WHEN TRYING TO INCREASE SPEED. THE CAR WOULD KICK A LITTLE WHILE IN MOTION AS IT STRUGGLED FROM 20MPH AND UP. THE RPMS INCREASED BETWEEN 4 AND 5 AT TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING. I ALSO FELT WHEN ACCELERATING MY PEDAL WAS NEARLY ALL THE WAY DOWN JUST TO GIVE THE CAR SOME GAS. I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY MILES AND NORMALLY HAVE TO STAY TO THE RIGHT LANE UNTIL MY CAR IS ABLE TO PICK UP SPEED. THIS JERKING WOULD HAPPEN EVERY TIME I NEED TO ACCELERATED. THE KICK BACK BECAME NOTICABLE ABOUT A MONTH AGO. IT STARTED VERY LIGHT AND HAS ONLY PROGRESSED SINCE
2014 KIA SOUL 2.0L GDI NU. 34,000 MILES. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND NOTICED A SLIGHT TICKING SOUND FROM ENGINE. SOUND WAS GETTING LOUDER AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OIL LIGHT WAS FLASHING. STOPPED CAR CHECKED OIL - WAS VERY LOW. CAR TOWED TO KIA. DIAGNOSIS - METAL IN OIL. ENGINE CONDEMNED. BROUGH CAR HOME. REMOVED OIL PAIN - 1 BEARING WAS SPUN. REPLACED BEARINGS/OIL PAN/OIL FILTER - SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN DUE TO SOMETHING RESTRICTING OIL FLOW I SUSPECT. 5 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY SECOND OWNER.
WHILE DRIVING ONTO INTERSTATE SOUL DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE, ENGINE REVVED BUT WAS NOT INCREASING SPEED, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. LOUD KNOCKING BEGAN, BUT WARNING NO LIGHTS WERE ON. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED ENGINE FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO ENGINE REPAIR SHOP. KIA THEN ADVISED VEHICLE BE TOWED TO KIA DEALERSHIP. IN PROCESS OF GETTING TO DEALERSHIP.
I HAVE A 2014 KIA SOUL PLUS AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER SEEMS TO HAVE FAILED AND HAS BEGAN TO CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT POINT TO THE CONVERTER BUT ONLY SAID THAT MY ENGINE NEEDED REPLACED. ON SECOND AND THIRD OPINIONS, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT IT WAS IN FACT MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. KIA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE AND RECALL THE 2.0L CATALYTIC CONVERT JUST AS THEY DID THE 1.6L.
TL* THE CONTACTS SIGNIFICANT OTHER OWNED A 2014 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED SO THEY PULLED OVER THE VEHICLE TO CHECK THE ENGINE. UPON OPENING THE HOOD, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE USING 5 GALLONS OF WATER AND TWO FIRE EXTINGUISHERS BUT WAS UNABLE TO SUBDUE THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH THEIR CHEMICAL HOSES HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS BURNT DOWN TO ITS FRAMING. A FIRE REPORT WAS PENDING BEING FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOW CONSIDERED HAZARDOUS MATERIAL AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT LOT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON, TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. ERROR CODE READ P0420 CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD (BANK1) THEN THE NEXT DAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON ANYMORE.
I WENT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID THE RECALL ON MY ENGINE. THE CUYLER DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE COP ECU LOGIC AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE DOESN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED. I GOT THE RECALL DONE ON A FRIDAY., AND THE NEXT DAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON AND MY OIL LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. I BELIEVE I NEED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE. I'M JUST REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN HOW IT TURNED OUT. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOULD NOT BE ON!
JULY 212019 WHILE DRIVING...HEARD A TICKING/,PINGING SOUND PULLED OVER. OIL DRY IN ENGINE. OIL CHANGE EVERY 3.000 MILES...RECORDS TO PROVE...FILLED OIL THEN ENGINE FAILED ON HIGHWAY. CONTACTED KIA CASE #13292943 . IMMEDIATELY ASSIGNED CASE MANAGER CHARLES. UPON RETURNING MY CALLS TOLD NOT COVERED AS POWERTRAIN WARRANTY OVER.SHORT BLOCK NEEDS REPLACING. ALSO TIMING CHAIN AND PUMP PER RECOMMENDATION BY MY MECHANIC BECAUSE OF DAMAGE TO ENGINE AND POSSIBILITY OF CHAIN STRETCHING.. KIA OLD SAYBROOK CT REPLACING BLOCK. 145,000 MILES..NOT TOLD WHERE REPLACED SHORT BLOCK HAS COME FROM.DEARLERSHIP SAID JUST "FROM KIA" . EXCELLENT MAINTAINENCE RECORD. COPIES IS ALL OIL CHANGES. TOLD NO WAY OF INDICATION OF THIS TO HAPPEN. LABOR IS BEING CHARGED..$1,500.00 READ MANY ISSUES WITH 2014 KIA SOUL BUT NOT RECALLED AND SHOULD BE AT NO COST TO CONSUMER!
HEADLIGHT CAN FLICKER OR GO OUT COMPLETELY WHEN SWITCHING HI/LOW BEAM OR USING TURN SIGNALS. SOMETIMES THEY BLINK BRIEFLY, OTHER TIMES THEY GO OUT COMPLETELY UNTIL YOU PLAY WITH THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH MORE. SEARCHING ONLINE, IT'S A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE KIA SOUL (HTTPS://WWW.WCPO.COM/MONEY/CONSUMER/DONT-WASTE-YOUR-MONEY/SOME-KIA-OWNERS-REPORT-HAUNTED-HEADLIGHTS), THEY HAVE A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE ISSUE DUE TO ITS COMMON OCCURRENCE. ONE OF THEIR OTHER MODELS WAS RECALLED FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE BUT NOT THE SOUL. VERY DANGEROUS IF THIS OCCURS AT NIGHT. ADDITIONALLY, OTHER DRIVERS SEE YOUR LIGHTS BLINKING AND ARE ASSUMING YOU ARE GETTING AGGRESSIVE WITH THEM AND CAN RESPOND AGGRESSIVELY BACK. ISSUE IS CONSTANTLY PRESENT AND LEADS TO NOT USING TURN SIGNALS IN MOST CASES SO THE HEADLIGHTS STAY ON.
WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO THE HIGHWAY, VEHICLE MADE AN INSANELY LOUD SCREECHING, METAL ON METAL NOISE FOLLOWED BY VIOLENT SHAKING. THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLICKERING, AS WELL AS THE OIL LIGHT, THEN STARTED TO STALL OUT. WHILE PULLING OVER, CAR CONTINUED TO MAKE GRINDING AND CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM WHAT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR, LOUD CLUNKING AND GRINDING NOISE. CHECKED THE OIL DIPSTICK- METAL SHARDS AND SHAVINGS ON DIPSTICK. TOOK TO COURTESY KIA BRANDON. WHO CONFIRMED ENGINE REQUIRED A REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY RECENT RECALL OF ...ALL KIA SOUL'S WITH 1.6LT ENGINES MADE FROM JULY 8, 2011 THRU AUG 1, 2016 ARE BEING RECALLED..." FOR ENGINE PROBLEMS. I AM NOW UNEXPECTEDLY IMMOBILIZED WITH A $8K+ REPAIR FOR A REBUILT ENGINE WITH 67K+ MILES AS MY OPTION?
I GOT A 2014 KIA SOUL IN JUNE OF 2018 . THE VEHICLE WAS OK UNTIL JULY 2019. I NOTICED THAT I WAS ALWAYS VERY LOW ON OIL AND I WAS VERY MUCH ON TOP OF MY OIL CHANGES. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT AT LEAST 3 QUARTS OF OIL IN THE CAR EVERY 3 WEEKS. THE DAY BEFORE I BROKE DOWN MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON SO I PUT A QUART OF OIL IN IT. NEXT DAY (THE DAY I BROKE DOWN)WHILE I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM DROPPING OFF A BANK DEPOSIT FOR MY JOB, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO 'JERK'. THE STREET I WAS DRIVING ON IS PRETTY BUSY 45MPH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND NOTICED MY OIL LIGHT WAS FLASHING. BECAUSE OF THIS HAPPENING MY MANAGER HAD TO COME AND FOLLOW BEHIND ME TO PARK IT BACK AT THE JOB. WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A HUGE KNOCKING NOISE THAT GOT WORST WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. BECAUSE OF THIS HAPPENING I WAS OUT OF A CAR FOR OVER TWO WEEKS BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WAS PACKED AND LOST WAGES. MY MAJOR CONCERN IS HAVING CHILDREN AS WELL.
I WAS DRIVING, SLOWING DOWN BEFORE A TURN, WHEN THERE WAS A SCREECHING NOISE AND THEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE CAR HAS NOT CRANKED SINCE. I HAVE TRIED TO JUMP START IT BUT THE BATTERY IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

A MONTH AFTER THE INITIAL FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEAD GASKET AND VALVES WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE ENGINE CEASED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CHANTZ SCOTT KIA (929 E STONE DR, KINGSPORT, TN 37660), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,534. *LN*JB*DT*JB
I was traveling back home from Dandridge, TN in July 2019. As I was going down the interstate at 70MPH, the engine made a very loud noise and the vehicle began to shake. I promptly pulled over to the shoulder and shut off the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to Rusty Wallace Kia of Knoxville. They had the car for three months before I received a phone call in September 2019. I was on my way to Florida with a friend, and Rusty Wallace Kia informed me that the engine had “threw a rod” and cut the oil lines. The recall is related to this exact issue. Rusty Wallace Kia then replaced the engine without my written permission. They called to inform me of this about a month later. I did receive mail from Kia Consumer Affairs alerting me of the recall a few months later. I have since contacted Consumer Affairs and they let me know they would be contacting Rusty Wallace Kia of Knoxville to discuss getting the repair payed for so I can get my car back. I received an email just today (several months later) from the service manager, Allison Richard’s, saying that I am responsible for the cost of the repairs. The recall paperwork in the mail states the engine will be replaced and the KDS software updated. As of today, Rusty Wallace Kia of Knoxville is refusing to release my car back to me (which is paid in full and I have the title in hand), and Allison also stated that consumer affairs said they wouldn’t help. I am needing my car back as soon as possible, and any help is appreciated. Thank you.
THIS IS INVOLVING RECALL SC176 AND OTHER CONCERNS. CAR LOSES FORCE WHILE ACCELERATING THAT HAS HAPPEN 2-3 TIMES. AS WELL AS RATTLING NOISE UNDER CAR. ALSO, HEADLIGHTS ARE FLICKERING AND TURN OFF COMPLETELY. CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ONCE THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY, I BOUGHT NEW BATTERY AND STILL IT INDICATES THAT NEW BATTERY IS LOW 9VOLTS. ALL THIS WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. I HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW AS EVIDENCE. BUT I WILL TAKE PICTURES AS THE LIGHTS START TO FLICKER AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO KIA TO HAVE A RECALL PERFORMED WHICH THEY SAID THEY DID BUT CAR IS STILL NOT RESPONDING AS IT SHOULD. OIL CHANGE WAS DONE ACCORDING TO THE TECH. AND A DIAGNOSE WAS ALSO PREFORMED AND SAID NOTHING IS WRONG YET MY CAR KEEPS FLICKERING LIGHTS, RATTLING NOISE AT TIMES, SLOWING DOWN. BUT NOTHING IS WRONG. OH AND THE BATTERY IS STILL CAUSING ME PROBLEMS BECAUSE ITS NOT GETTING THE SUPPORT FROM THE ALTERNATOR BECAUSE ITS STILL LOW INDICATOR.
DRIVING MY 2014 KIA SOUL ON JULY 4TH ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MILES PER HOUR, ENGINE REVVED UP TO 5 RPM'S FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT BACK DOWN TO PROPER RPM'S AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS, THEN ABOUT 15 SECONDS LATER REVVED UP TO 7 RPM'S, BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. CALLED KIA CORPORATE ON JULY 8TH, THEY CREATED A CASE FOR ME, I HAD A CONTACT THERE THAT WAS WORKING MY CASE, AND THEY HAD IT TOWED IT TO MIDWEST KIA IN WICHITA, KS., BECAUSE THERE WAS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THE CAR. THEY HAD IT FOR 2 WEEKS, REFUSED TO FIX IT BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO START TO THROW THE CODE FOR THE RECALL, BUT THEY REPEATEDLY TOLD ME THEY WOULD DO NOTHING TO GET IT TO THROW THE CODE BECAUSE THEY MIGHT PAY TO FIX SOMETHING THEY SHOULDN'T. A MAN AT CORPORATE TOLD ME ON JULY 22ND THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO HONOR THE RECALL NOR THE WARRANTY THAT IS STILL ON MY CAR, AND I HAD MY CAR TOWED BACK TO MY HOUSE. WHEN I GOT IT BACK, I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND THE SERVICE CENTER HAD TORN MY ENGINE APART AND LEFT IT IN PIECES UNDER MY HOOD, WHERE IT SITS NOW AWAITING PERMISSION ON WHAT I CAN DO SO I DO NOT RUIN ANY CHANCES I HAVE OF THEM FIXING WHAT THEY SHOULD ANYWAY.
VEHICLE HAS HAD A LACK OF POWER WAS TOLD IT WAS DUE TO A CLOGGED CONVERTER.... PERFORMED RECALL KIA SC176. THEY REPLACED THE CONVERTER AND DID AN ECU UPGRADE. CAR HAS SERIOUS LACK OF POWER NOW AND WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE DONT KNOW WHICH GEAR TO BE IN SO IT CONSTANTLY HUNTS FOR A GEAR. GAS MILEAGE ALSO HAS DECREASED FROM ABOUT 30-32 TO 26-28. THE CAR IS A SAFETY RISK BECAUSE SOMETIMES IT CANT GET OUT OF THE WAY OF BIG TRUCKS

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO STEVENSON KIA OF JACKSONVILLE (LOCATED AT 500 W FAIRWAY RD, JACKSONVILLE, NC 28546, (910) 938-0555) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2014 KIA SOUL ON A COUNTRY ROAD, WITHOUT WARNING, A KNOCKING SOUND BEGAN. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED MY HUSBAND, WHO PROMPTED ME TO CHECK THE OIL. I HAD NEVER MISSED AN OIL CHANGE, THERE WERE NO LEAKS, NO SMOKING AND EVERYTHING WAS TIGHT AND CLEAN. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND THERE WAS NO OIL AT ALL. THE OIL LIGHT HAD NEVER COME ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY PROMPTED ME TO ADD OIL AND BRING IT IN IMMEDIATELY. IT DIED NEAR THE CORNER OF THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS PUSHED INTO THE SERVICE CENTER WHERE I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING A HIGHWAY RATE OF SPEED FROM ANOTHER STATE, THERE HAD BEEN OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROADWAY HONKING HORNS TO ALERT THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING. THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE PROGRESSING FROM THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY. UPON FURTHER INSPECTING FROM THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE THEN THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AS THE ENGINE BURSTS INTO FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FACILITY BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY WHO INDICATED THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER (JANESVILLE KIA, 3419 RYAN RD, JANESVILLE, WI 53545, (608) 743-9600) WAS CALLED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP IN THREE BUSINESS DAYS, PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER BUT HAD NOT YET RESPONDED TO THE CONTACT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE! WHILE I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AT A NORMAL 55 MILES PER HOUR. I HEAR A POOF AND THE NEXT THING SAW SMOKE AND PULLED RIGHT TO SIDE OF ROAD, LIFTED THE HOOD AND DISCOVERED THE ENGINE WAS IN FLAMES. I GRABBED A SHEET FROM INSIDE THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO BEAT THE FLAMES BACK, ALONG WITH A A CAN OF PEPSI THE ONLY LIQUID I HAD. BUT A GOOD SAMARITAN STOPPED WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT THE FIRE OUT.
THE FLOOR BOARD IS ALWAYS WARM. THE CAR SEEMS TO DRIVE FINE FOR ABOUT 20 -30 MINS AND THEN THE CAR SEEMS TO LOSE POWER AND WILL BARELY GO UPHILL...CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR A CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN THE PAST BUT WENT BACK OUT. CAR HAS BEEN AT KIA NOW SINCE JUNE 18TH... HAVE A CASE WITH KIA AMERICA. DEALER TOLD ME THE CAT WAS CLOGGED. NOW WORRIED ABOUT ENGINE DAMAGE BECAUSE OF CLOGGED CAT. VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL SC176 VIA KIA

THE CONTACT STOPPED AT A PARKING LOT, ENGAGED IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, WALKED AWAY FROM IT . THE VEHICLE ENGULFED IN A FIRE, FLAMES STARTED TO EMERGE FROM THE UNDER THE HOOD. THE POLICE WAS PRESENT AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS CATEGORIZED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY AS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INSURANCE LOT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE OFF THERE WAS A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
THE ENGINE IN THE CAR WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGHLY. IT KEPT GETTING WORSE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD THE ROD BEARINGS WENT BAD AT 98K MILES WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND NORMAL DRIVING. WE WERE QUOTED $5084 FOR A NEW LONG BLOCK ASSEMBLY OR $5500 FOR A NEW SHORT BLOCK ASSEMBLY FROM THE DEALER. THIS REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY THE SAME AMOUNT THE CAR IS WORTH RUNNING AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE DONE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. BECAUSE WE ARE THE 2ND OWNERS, THERE IS NO WARRANTEE TO COVER THE REPAIR. WE HAD TO TOW THE CAR FROM THE DEALER AND IT HASN'T RUN SINCE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE RESEARCHED AS KIA HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE 2017 SORENTO/OPTIMA. I BELIEVE THERE WILL BE MORE SIMILAR ISSUES AS OTHER OWNERS BEGIN REACHING THE 100K MARK IN THESE VEHICLES AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO COVER THESE EXPENSIVE, UNNECESSARY REPAIRS.
WHEN THE 2014 KIA SOUL LIGHT SETTINGS ARE SET ON THE AUTO SETTING, AT NIGHT, THE LIGHTS SOMETIMES COMPLETELY TURN OFF, SOMETIMES LINKED TO USING A TURN SIGNAL, NOT ALWAYS. THEY DO NOT COME ON AGAIN UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED, OR YOU SWITCH THE LIGHTS FROM AUTO TO MANUAL ON. THIS HAPPENS IN MOTION, AND STATIONARY, AND SEEMS MORE LIKELY WHEN TURNING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
WE HAD THE CAR ENGINE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY IN AUG 2018. ON MAY 27, 2019 AS WE WERE DRIVING THE CAR ON VACATION, WE SMELT SOME GASOLINE. LATER AFTER WE FILLED 5 GALLONS OF GAS AND DRIVING LESS THAN 5 MILES, SUDDENLY THE CAR STALLED IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE FUEL INDICATOR SAID THERE WAS GAS LEFT BUT ACTUALLY IT WAS EMPTY. ADDING GAS FROM CAN STARTED THE CAR AND SOON WE NOTICED BIG GAS LEAK. OPENING THE ENGINE COVER SHOWED THE FUEL LINE WAS SPEWING GAS OVER THE HOT ENGINE. THIS IS A BIG FIRE RISK AND THANKFULLY, WE CAUGHT IT BEFORE THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. WE PUSHED THE FUEL LINE BACK INTO THE FUEL PUMP BUT THE END CONNECTOR IS BROKEN. NO IDEA WHY IT BROKE ON ITS OWN SO SOON AFTER ENGINE REPLACEMENT. I HAVE ATTACHED PICTURE SHOWING THE BROKEN END. WE DID NOT TAKE PICTURE AS IT WAS SPEWING GASOLINE WHEN WE OPENED THE COVER AS WE WERE TOO SCARED ABOUT THE ENGINE CATCHING FIRE AND QUICKLY TRIED TO FIX THE FUEL PIPE BACK AND WIPED THE SPILT GASOLINE AND LET EVERYTHING DRY.
ENGINE STARTED MAKING NOISE THEN ENGINE ROD WENT THROUGH ENGINE BLOCK WHILE ON HIGHWAY TRAVELING APPROX 60MPH. CAR STOPPED AND COASTED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE SMOKE POURED FROM ENGINE. OIL ALL OVER ROAD AND ENGINE. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S NOT RELATED TO RECALL #19V120. CONTACTED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE. CASE REP SAYS IT SHOULD BE COVERED AND THEY HAVE TO CONTACT THE DISTRICT SERVICE REP IN THE AREA. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO HELP AND KEEPS TRYING TO SELL NEW ENGINE. DISTRICT SERVICE REP WON'T GIVE KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE ANY INFO. THEY'VE REQUESTED INFO TWICE WITH NO RESPONSE. I KEEP GETTING PASSED TO VOICEMAILS WITH NO RETURN CALLS FROM KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE, I'VE TRIED EMAIL AS WELL.
MY 2014 KIA SOUL (86,000 MILES) IS CONSUMING OIL EXTREMELY FAST. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED 5/2/19 AND AS OF YESTERDAY 5/26/2019 MY LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE INTERSTATE.THERE IS ALMOST NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THE PAST 6+ MONTHS. IT IS GETTING INCREASINGLY WORSE. NO OIL SPOTS HAVE BEEN DETECTED UNDER THE CAR. I PARK IN THE SAME PLACE EVERY DAY. NO SMOKE IS DETECTED. THE FILTER INSTALLED IS A KIA BRANDED FILTER FROM THE SERVICE DEPT OF THE KIA DEALERSHIP.
CAR CAUGHT FIRE ON MAY 24TH 2019. MY SON HEARD/FELT A POP AND GOT OUT AND CHECKED HIS TIRES AND THEY WERE FINE, THEN SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM ENGINE AND CAR WENT UP INTO FLAMES.
IN MAY OF 2019, MY CAR EXPERIENCED ENGINE KNOCKING. WE BROUGHT IT IN TO GET AN OIL CHANGE, THE KNOCKING STOPPED AND ONE DAY A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, THE ENGINE THREW A ROD. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED BACK TO OUR HOUSE, THE TOW GUY TOLD US THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE SEEING AS WE HAD JUST GOTTEN AN OIL CHANGE. WE WERE MOVING THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR NEW HOUSE AN HOUR AWAY WHERE MY KIA SOUL HAS BEEN SITTING FOR THE PAST 8 MONTHS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH AND FIGHTING WITH KIA CONSUMERS, KIA IS REFUSING TO REPLACE MY ENGINE THAT THEY FAILED TO INCLUDE IN THE 2018-19 RECALL ON ENGINES THAT WERE FAILING DUE TO THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED IN 2016 AND STILL OWE JUST OVER $10,000. THE QUOTES I'VE GOTTEN FROM MECHANICS AROUND ME HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO $8,000 FOR A USED ENGINE AND INSTALLMENT. I'M UNABLE AND REFUSE TO PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE FOR A CAR THAT ISN'T WORTH MORE THAN $5,000 AND I'M AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT TO DO. I CANNOT TRADE IT IN DUE TO ME BEING SO UPSIDE DOWN ON MY LOAN, I'D REALLY RATHER NOT VOLUNTARILY REPO IT AND I WANT TO DEMAND KIA FIX THE PROBLEM THEY FAILED TO FIX A YEAR AGO.

HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS ON BUSINESS 85 MY STEERING WHEEL WENT OUT I COULDN'T TURN MY WHEEL LEFT. I ENDED UP HAVING TO JERK MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TURNING IN A COMPLETE CIRCLE TO AVOID TRAFFIC AND GET OFF THE ROAD. AFTER COMPLETELY STOPPING I ENDED UP NEAR A DITCH AND GRAVE YARD. AT THIS POINT I TURN MY CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON TO SEE IF IT WOULD WORK, BUT MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD JUST TURN IN A COMPLETE CIRCLE. MY HORN OR NOTHING WOULDN'T WORK ON MY STEERING WHEEL IT JUST MADE CLICKING NOISES.
COMING UP TO A STOPLIGHT THE MOTOR DIED AND TRIED TO RESTART IT, BUT THE STARTER WOULD ONLY CLICK. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOME AND CALLED MY MECHANIC. HE TOLD ME TO CHECK IF TO SEE IF I COULD TURN THE MOTOR OVER BY HAND AND IT WOULD NOT TURN. REMOVED THE OIL PAN AND FOUND A SPUN BEARING ON THE #3 CONNECTING ROD. SO FAR I HAVE SPENT $1200 IN PARTS TO REPAIR IT AS IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE FACTORY WARRANTY AS I AM THE 2ND OWNER.
WE PURCHASED A CAR FROM A SMALL LOT SELLING USED CARS IN TEMPE, ARIZONA. AT 20 DAYS AND ABOUT 800 MILES THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE AS MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD GOING ABOUT 5-10 MILES PER HOUR. HE SHUT OFF THE CAR. I CHECKED THE OIL DIPSTICK AND THERE WAS ZERO OIL IN THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SALESPERSON ABOUT THIS ISSUE. HE SAID WE COULD TOW IT TO HIM TO LOOK AT IT AND HE INSISTED THAT HE CHANGED THE OIL IN THE CAR BEFORE WE EVER DROVE IT. DUE TO MY CONCERN THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE CAR, I ADDED 2.5 QUARTS. THERE HAVE BEEN NO OIL LEAKS SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR, NOR WERE THERE ANY AFTER I ADDED THE 2.5 QUARTS. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER ON A FRIDAY MORNING AND NO REAL WORK WAS COMPLETED. I CALLED KIA CORPORATE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WHERE THE OIL WOULD JUST EVAPORATE AND THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER SC147. KIA CORPORATE HAD ME CALL A LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP AND THAT'S WHEN THE SERVICE DEPT SAID KIA CORPORATE WAS WRONG. I MADE A RETURN CALL TO KIA CORPORATE WHO CORRECTED THE FIRST AGENT AND TOLD ME THEY WERE WRONG AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS ISSUE. THE ENGINE ISSUE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT - THIS IS THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS OTHER CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AT THIS TIME FOR OTHER KIA VEHICLES.

I TOOK MY LITTLE BOY TO SCHOOL AND THE CAR LOST POWER AND THE NOISE GOT A LOT WORSE. I WENT AHEAD AND TOOK IT TO CASTROL TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE OIL. THE OIL WAS FINE BUT WE WENT AHEAD AND CHANGED IT. I ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED HOME. A MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THAT I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR.

WE HAD A CERTIFIED MECHANIC COME TOW IT TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS HE SAID HE HAD TO PUT 3 Q OF OIL IN IT JUST TO HOOK UP FOR DIOGNOSTIC AS THE OIL WAS BONE DRY ! ALL OF THE READINGS WERE UNSTABLE DUE TO BLOWN MOTOR ! NOT SURE WHY THE 1.6 LITER WAS RECALLED DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE BUT ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ IS ON THE 2.0. WE WAS QUOTED 6200$ TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE 2014 ENGINES HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED! HMMM WHY IS THAT ?! WE HAVE A 9,000$ CAR SITTING THAT I HAVE A LOAN ON PAYING MONTHLY AND OUR DAUGHTER IS WITHOUT A VEHICLE LET ME ADD SHE LOST HER JOB ! IT WAS A QUART LOW SO I TOPPED IT OFF AND WENT BACK TO NORMAL FASTFOWARD TO THIS MONTH ITS EMPTIED OUT TWICE I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY FOUND THE CAT HAD OVERHEATED AND CAUSED AN OIL LEAK AND THERE IS NOW AN AWFUL TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THE MODEL WITH THE 1.6 LITER ENGINE AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED BUT THIS RECALL DOESNT COVER THE 2.0 LITER EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO HAD THIS SAME ISSUE ON THEIR 2.0 LITER MODELS AND HAD TO BUY NEW ENGINES THIS IS HORRIBLE AND I AS A CONSUMER FEEL A FULL ENGINE FAILURE ON A WELL MAINTAINED CAR THAT ISN'T EVEN 5 YEARS OLD SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE SAME RECALL. I RECIEVED A RECALL LETTER THE RECALL NUMBER IS 19V120 I WENT OVER TOO THE KIA DEALER, VAN DEVERE KIA, AKRON OHIO WEST MARKET ST, PRIOR TO GOING FOR RECALL NOTHING WAS GOING ON WITH MY CAR NO LIGHTS COMING ON OR ANYTHING IT HAVE VERY LOW MILES AND EVERY TIME I GO THERE THEY TRY TOO SELL ME A NEW CAR, ANY WAY WENT ON A FRIDAY IN MAY THAT MONDAY THE INDICATOR LAMP CAME ON{ ENGINE} TOOK IT OVER THEY SAID THEY HAD NO TIME TOO CHECK IT AND IF IT NOT FLASHING ITS SAFETY ISSUE, A FEW DAYS LATER THE LIGHT WENT OUT BUT I DID NOTICE THAT THE CAR IS USING MORE GAS, ON MONDAY 6-3-2019 THE LIGHT WAS BACK ON SO I WENT OVER THEY HAD 2 CARS IN THE BAY AND THE GUY SAID THEY HAD NO TIME TOO LOOK AT IT BY THE WAY THIS GUY BEEN RUDE TOO ME SINCE I TOLD HIM I DID NOT WANT TOO BUY A NEW CAR, HE SAID I COULD COME WED BUT I HAD TOO WORK HAVE APPT ON MONDAY THE 10TH BUT THIS IS NOT RIGHT MY CAR BEEN USING A LOT MORE GAS AND IT SEEM TOO BE IDDLE VERY HIGH WHEN I START IT UP, WHEN I GOT OFF WORK STOPPED AT A AUTO ZONE TO GET A READ OUT ON THE LIGHT AND IT SHOWED THAT REPROGRAM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE THE CODE WAS PO50A. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS CAR DEALER I GO THERE FOR ALL REPAIRS I HAVE 23045 MILES 2014 SOUL.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE FAILURE BUT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE FAILURE CODES FROM THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE FAILURE CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO DIFEO KIA (1320 OCEAN AVE, LAKEWOOD, NJ 08701 (833) 842-8290) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AT THE DEALER DUE TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HAD REMOVED THE CODES OUT OF THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,541.

I HAVE A 2014 KIA SOUL. I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS. WHILE DRIVING, WHETHER ON HIGHWAY DOING 70 MPH OR IN THE CITY DOING 10 TO 45 MPH. THE LIGHTS GO OUT FOR 30 SECONDS WILL FLICK BACK ON AND DO THIS REPEATEDLY SEVERAL TIMES. NO CHECK ENGINE OR OTHER LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN WHEN USING MY BLINKER SIGNALS. THIS HAS BECOME DANGEROUS. DRIVING WITH MY NEWBORN BABY IN CAR AND THIS HAPPENED ALMOST CAUSING A SEVERE ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER AS WELL DUE TO THIS ISSUE. IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING AT NIGHT TIME WHICH CAUSES SEVERAL ISSUES. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE? THIS STARTED AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE IN TO FIX TWO RECALLS A FEW MONTHS AGO AND HAS CONTINUED.
