IN OCTOBER 2019, MY CAR LOST POWER AND AFTER GETTING IT TO KARP KIA IM ROCKVILLE CENTRE NY AFTER MUCH HASSLE KARP KIA REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. TWO DAYS AFTER I PICKED UP MY CAR I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AT JIFFY LUBE. 3 DAYS AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY CAR AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. AFTER I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM THAT THE PROBLEM WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE RECALL, THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS NOT A 1.6 BUT A 2.0 IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I HAVE 59000 MILES ON THE CAR. I SAW WHERE 2.0 ENGINES ON OTHER KIA MODELS WERE ADDED TO THE RECALL BUT NOT THE SOUL. I ALSO SEE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE THAT ARE THE SAME AS MINE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND CONSIDER OUR COMPLAINTS BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. FYI, I STILL HAVE MORE THAN $10000 LEFT ON MY CAR NOTE.
WE CHANGE OUR OIL REGULARLY WITH THE SAME SHOP FOR YEARS. WE NOTICED THE OIL LIGHT STARTED APPEARING FASTER THAN USUAL AND WELL UNDER THE 3000 MILE STICKER. WE HAD TO CHANGE THE OIL 3 TIMES IN ONE MONTH. THE SECOND TIME WE ASKED THEM TO CHECK FOR LEAKS OR FILTER. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO LEAK AND FILTER WAS CLEAN. WE TOOK UT TO AN AUTO SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ENGINE. SPECIFICALLY THE PISTON AND HE RECOMMENDED A WHILE NEW ENGINE. WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED. WE JUST HAD THE CAR INSPECTED LAST MONTH WITH NO PROBLEMS. PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE. WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW AND BOUGHT VEHICLE 3 AND A HALF YEARS AGO. WE ARE WORRIED THEY WON'T FIX IT. IT ONLY HAS 92225 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, FLAMES WERE PRESENT UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. A FIRE REPORT AND A POLICE REPORT WERE FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES ON MY CAR. HAD ONE DONE 30 DAYS AGO. FOUND OUT THIS MORNING THE CAR WAS WITHOUT OIL BUT SHOWED NO SIGNS OF A LEAK, FUMES, BURNING OF OIL. NOTHING!!! WAS DOING 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT SIMPLY DIED. THE GAS PEDDLE TIGHTENED UP AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS. UPON STARTING IT I NOTICED A BASEBALL CARD IN THE WHEEL OF A BIKE NOISE. I THOUGHT MY BELT WAS GOING BAD. NOT THE CASE. AFTER STALLING OUT ON THE HIGHWAY I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP. THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THERE IS A DESTROYED BEARING IN THE ENGINE DUE TO IT LOOSING ALL OF ITS OIL. THEY TOLD ME THAT A FIRE COULD HAVE HAPPENED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THEY HAVE INFORMED ME I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND THE CAR IS NOT DRIVE-ABLE. I JUST BOUGHT IT 7 MONTHS AGO. THE WARRANTY IS UP. AND I'M GOING TO MAKE PAYMENTS ON A CAR I CAN'T DRIVE. 2014 KIA SOUL WITH A 2.0 ENGINE.
THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I HAD TO PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD, THE PROBLEM IS A FUEL LEAK, OTHER KIA SOULS ARE CURRENTLY ON RECALL FOR THE SAME REASON BUT THIS PLUS MODEL ISN'T SO IT'S SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY WHILE I PAY OVER $400 A MONTH FOR THE VEHICLE ! RECALL THIS DANGEROUS VEHICLE ! THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE KIA/HYUNDAI ENGINES
I OWN A 2014 KIA SOUL + MODEL. TODAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING AROUND 35 MPH DOWN A LOCAL CITY STREET, I STARTED TO LOSE POWER IN TRAFFIC. I THOUGHT I HAD SOME BAD GAS OR SOMETHING. ABOUT A MINUTE OR TWO LATER, THE OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I GOT A LITTLE NERVOUS WHILE DRIVING, SO I THREW ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS. I WAS ABOUT A 1/4 MILE FROM THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION (THE CLOSEST PLACE TO EVALUATE THE SITUATION). I PROCEEDED CAUTIOUSLY, DRIVING AROUND 15 MPH, TO THE SERVICE STATION WHEN I STARTED TO HEAR A TAPPING SOUND. I BECAME OVERLY CONCERNED THEN. I MADE IT TO THE SERVICE STATION, POPPED THE HOOD, AND CHECKED THE DIP STICK. THE OIL APPEARED TO BE AT THE PROPER LEVEL. JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE, I PURCHASED A QUART OF OIL AND POURED HALF OF THE QUART INTO THE CAR. I GOT BACK INTO THE CAR AND STARTED IT UP. IT WAS STILL TAPPING. I WAS LOCATED ABOUT A MILE AND A HALF FROM KIA ATLANTA SOUTH. SO I DECIDED TO TRY TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON PULLING OUT OF THE SERVICE STATION'S PARKING LOT, MY CAR STALLED THEN SHUT DOWN. THE BATTERY LIGHT AND OTHER SERVICE LIGHTS POPPED ON. I COASTED YOU THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANT. MY KIA SOUL HAS APPROXIMATELY 75,553 MILES ON IT. I GET MY OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. I WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY MY CAR WAS MALFUNCTIONING LIKE THIS. THERE NO SIGNS OF SMOKE OR ANYTHING. MY CAR JUST STOPPED. I HAD TO WAIT 2.5 HOURS ON A TOW TRUCK. THE GUY TOWED MY CAR TO KIA ATLANTA SOUTH IN JONESBORO, GEORGIA. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED. I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL IN THE MORNING TO FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON. WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOWED, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE MANY CASES SIMILAR TO MY CURRENT SITUATION. IT'S STRANGE THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS FEELING MY PAIN. NOW, I'M AWAITING ON THE DEALERSHIP'S VERDICT.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT HEADLIGHTS WILL SOMETIMES TURN OFF FOR A SECOND OR 2, AND ALSO GO OFF MAJORITY OF TIMES WHEN USING TURN SIGNALS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A YEAR NOW.THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES FOR THIS BUT NO CORRECTION EVEN ATTEMPTED. PROBLEM OCCURRED ON CITY STREET WHILE TURNING.
I JUST PURCHASED A 2014 KIA SOUL EXCLAIM AND IT IS IN PERFECT CONDITION UNTIL I STARTED HEARING KNOCKING NOISE COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE. I PULLED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED TOWING COMPANY TO GET IT TOWED TO CLOSET KIA DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD IT WASN'T UNDER A RECALL AND THAT THE OTHER KIA SOUL(BASE) IS THE ONE UNDER THE RECALL. WHICH I HAVE TO PAY AROUND 10K TO GET IT FIXED! WITH A NEW ENGINE. CAR IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND THAT ISSUE JUST CAME OUT FROM NOWHERE. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 19V120000(ENGINE) CATALYTIC CONVERTER TEMPERATURE SHOULD BE APPLIED TO THE 2014 KIA SOUL PLUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND BLACK SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE IF POLICE AND/OR FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL TOW YARD WHERE IT WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING TOWED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY LOT FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
THE ENGINE DIED WITH NO WARNING ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD TO BE TOWED TO MECHANIC, WHERE THEY FOUND THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE, BUT NO OIL LEAK. MUST NOW REPLACE ENTIRE ENGINE OR BUY A NEW CAR. CAR HAS HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES (DIED ON A THURSDAY, NEXT OIL CHANGE HAD BEEN SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY) AND AN EXTRA QUART OF OIL WAS ADDED 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO LOW OIL LEVELS (WE CHALKED THIS UP TO EXTRA DRIVING FOR VACATION). MECHANIC FOUND NO LEAK AT PREVIOUS OIL CHANGES. AS STATED BY OTHER OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM, IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING IN THE ENGINE IS MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING OIL TO BURN OFF AND THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND DIE. THE CAR WAS VERY HOT/BURN SMELLING WHEN I GOT IT OFF THE ROAD, TO THE POINT WHERE I WAS AFRAID TO SIT IN IT FOR FEAR OF EXPLOSION. MY MECHANIC AGREES THIS IS A KIA MALFUNCTION AND HAS AGREED TO KEEP MY ENGINE IN STORAGE FOR FURTHER CLAIM INVESTIGATION. AS KIA HAS A HISTORY OR CATCHING FIRE, I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE IS WORTHY OF AN INVESTIGATION AND RECALL. PLEASE HELP!
I STARTED HEARING A RATTLING NOISE IN MY ENGINE, I STOPPED TO CHECK MY OIL AND IT WAS EXTREMELY LOW. I CHANGED MY OIL AND OIL FILTER THEN 2 DAYS LATER I STARTED HEARING A METAL ON METAL NOISE ONLY WHEN I STARTED THE CAR. I CHECKED THE OIL AGAIN AND IT WAS LOW. MY KIA SOUL IS A 2.0L ENGINE, BUT THE 1.6L ENGINE HAD A SIMILAR RECALL. LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT AND SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE WILL COME ON. MY KIA HAS NO SIGNS OF OIL LEAKS BUT I'VE HAD TO TOP OFF MY OIL TOO FREQUENTLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND CHECK OIL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. ROYAL KIA OF TUCSON (4333 E SPEEDWAY BLVD, TUCSON, AZ 85712, (520) 477-0569) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
MY KIA SOUL IS HAVING IDENTICAL ISSUES TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 19V120000WHICH LED TO RECALL SC176 BY KIA WHICH ONLY COVERED THE 1.6L MODELS, NOT THE 2.0L WHICH IS THE VEHICLE I DRIVE. I EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER AND LOUD KNOCKING TYPE SOUND WHILE DRIVING. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30-35 M/H ON A CITY STREET. I DID NOT NOTICE A CHECK ENGINE OR OIL LIGHT DURING THIS EVENT. I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL AND I HAD NO OIL SHOWING ON THE DIP STICK. I FILLED THE OIL RESERVOIR WITH THE CORRECT OIL TYPE AND DROVE HOME LESS THAN A MILE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AS NORMAL. NO SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I CONTACTED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER (13392784), AND DIRECTED TO BRING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTICS CHECK. A SIMILAR INCIDENT OCCURRED ONE OTHER TIME WHERE THE ENGINE AGAIN BURNED ALL OF THE OIL, WITH NO SIGNS OF A LEAK ON WITH THE ENGINE OF THE GROUND WHERE THE CAR IS PARKED. THE OIL HAS BEEN MONITORED REGULARLY SINCE THIS FIRST INCIDENT. THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND NO OIL LEAKS HAS BEEN NOTICED. FROM MY RESEARCH INTO THIS ISSUE THESE SYMPTOMS LINE UP WITH WHAT THE AFFECTED VEHICLES EXPERIENCED BEFORE THEY WERE RECALLED. THE LOSS OF POWER, ENGINE NOISE AND SHIFTING DIFFICULTIES FIRST OCCURRED ON OCTOBER 13, 2019. I ASKING THIS CASE BE LOOKED INTO AND SEE IF THE SCOPE OF THE RECALL DID NOT COVER ALL VEHICLES POTENTIALLY AT RISK. THE MILAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 74,000 MILES.
2014 KIA SOUL REDZONE EDITION, THE HEADLIGHT WILL TURN COMPLETELY OFF FOR AROUND 15 SECONDS AND COME BACK ON. THEY WILL ALSO FLICKER WHEN TRYING TO USE THE TURN SIGNAL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE ON A BUSY FREEWAY AND CAN'T STOP. KIA SAYS THEY WILL NOT PROCESS UNDER WARRANTY IF CAR IS OVER 5 YEARS AND 60K MILES. THEY NEED TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS, TONS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS HAPPEN TO THEM WITH THE 2014 KIA SOULS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, WHITE SMOKE BEGAN TO EMIT FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE AS THE "PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY' AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO HOMETOWN KIA (111 MIDTOWN AVE, MT HOPE, WV 25880) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE THREW A ROD AND THAT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED HIS FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,521.
MY KIA SOUL HAS THE 2.0 L ENGINE WHICH HAS RAN GREAT UNTIL 4 MONTHS AGO. I STARTING HEARING LIFTER NOISES LIKE WHEN YOU GET BAD GASOLINE. THEN ON THE HIGHWAY, IT STARTING LOSING POWER AND FINALLY, THE ENGINE QUIT. NOW MECHANIC SAYS REPAIRS WILL BE $2100 OR MORE IF ENTIRE ENGINE IS NEEDED. I DO HAVE AROUND 188000 MILES ON THE ENGINE.
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2014 KIA SOUL PLUS ON A HIGHWAY THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD TAPPING/KNOCKING SOUND. WITHIN A HALF MILE THE SOUND BECAME MUCH LOUDER AND WORSE. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. WE PULLED OFF AN EXIT. WE CHECKED THE OIL. NOTHING REGISTERED ON DIPSTICK. WE PUT 2 QUARTS IN AND IT REGISTERED. WHEN OIL CAP WAS REMOVED IT WAS STEAMING/SMOKING AND THERE WAS BURNT OIL ON CAP. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE AND IDLING FOR A FEW MINUTES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON. IT WAS NOW AFTER 9:00PM SO NOTHING WAS OPEN. WE HAD TO SPEND THE NIGHT AS WE WERE STRANDED OUT OF STATE. THE NEXT MORNING WE GOT THE CAR TO THE NEAREST KIA DEALERSHIP. WE WERE TOLD THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN AND WE'D NEED A NEW ENGINE. IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND HAD 68288 MILES ON IT. WE HAD NO GOOD CHOICE BUT TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR AND TRADE THE BLOWN ENGINE AS WE WERE STRANDED OUT OF STATE. (WE WERE QUOTED AROUND $6,000+ AND A COUPLE WEEKS FOR A NEW ENGINE.) THE ENGINE OIL HAD BEEN CHECKED AND TOPPED OFF BEFORE LEAVING ON THIS TRIP. WE PUT APPROXIMATELY 1,000 MILES ON THE CAR ON THIS TRIP. I HAVE RECEIPTS. OUR CARS 2.0 ENGINE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECENT RECALL. HOWEVER THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR CAR AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. WE WERE VERY FRIGHTENED AND EXTREMELY FORTUNATE WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY SAFELY AND THERE WAS NO ENGINE FIRE.
HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY I FIRST WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SUGGESTED THAT I CLEAN IT IT WAS DONE TWICE AS OF TODAY THE LIGHT STILL COMES ON. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CALLING AND COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IN MY YEARS OF OWNING A VEHICLE I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH A THROTTLE BODY I FIGURE THE WAY THIS CAR IDLING GOES IT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH IT BECAUSE IT'S NOT A STICK SHIFT BUT DRIVES LIKE ONE ALSO THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE SERVICE AND IT'S HAPPENING AFTER THE WARRANTY WHICH OR SHOULD I BE SURPRISED BUT OVERALL I THINK THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED AT AND EXAMINED TO MAKE THIS CAR MORE BETTER (YES MORE BETTER) WHEN THE CAR IS STARING FOR THE FIRST TIME IT ISLES UP VERY LOUD THEN CALMS DOWN AFTER EACH START AFTERWARDS IT DRIVES SLOWER AND THE PERFORMANCE CHANGES NOW IT SEEMED SO STRANGE CAUSE OUT OF ALL THE VEHICLES I'VE OWNED I'VE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEMS PLUS IT'S NOT A HOT ROD.
MY PARTICULAR MODEL OF KIA SOUL IS NOT RECALLED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 19V120000, HOWEVER, I HAVE HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED TWO TIMES ALREADY AND WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE TO HAVE IT REPLACED A THIRD TIME DUE THE CONVERTER "INTERNALLY MELTING." IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT MODEL WITH THE 1.6L ENGINE HAS BEEN RECALLED BUT THE MODEL WITH THE 2.0L ENGINE HAS NOT. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ARE FAILING JUST OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY OF 12K MILES AROUND THE 15K MILE MARK EACH TIME. EVERY TIME THE CONVERTER STARTS TO FAIL, I'M NOT ABLE TO GET ENOUGH POWER OUT OF THE ENGINE TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS. I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE OTHER OWNERS COMPLAIN ON FORUMS ABOUT THE SAME FAILURE. I'M SURE WE WOULD ALL LIKE TO SEE THE ADDITIONAL VEHICLE MODELS ADDED TO THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE, THE RPMS ACCELERATED TO 4 WITHOUT WARNING UP 48.897 MILES. WE ARE EXPERIENCING A LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING IN ALL CONDITIONS (HIGHWAY, CITY STREETS, ETC.) AND GEARS NOT SHIFTING AT THE RIGHT TIMES (SUCH AS WHEN TRAVELING UPHILL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT WILL DOWNSHIFT FROM 6TH TO 3RD LEADING TO THE RPM'S SPIKING INTO THE 5,000 RANGE AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WILL BEGIN TO CLIMB OR WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A START IT WILL QUICKLY MOVE FROM 1ST TO 2ND TO 3RD GEAR WHILE THE VEHICLE MOVES VERY SLOWLY BEFORE PROVIDING THE EXPECTED MOVEMENT [THIS BEING WITH A LIGHT PRESS OF THE PEDAL])) AS WELL AS A LOSS OF OIL THAT MY MECHANIC HAS BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE THE SOURCE OF. I WANTED TO SEE IF THIS CASE COULD BE LOOKED INTO AGAIN TO SEE IF THE SCOPE OF THE RECALL DID NOT COVER ALL VEHICLES POTENTIALLY AT RISK.

I PURCHASED MY 2014 KIA SOUL IN 2015 AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY HAD ISSUES WITH THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD FLICKERING AND MY HEADLIGHTS TURNING ON AT NIGHT. WE TOOK IT UNDER WARRANTY TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. I HAVE PERIODICALLY HAD THE SAME ISSUE BUT IT'S MOSTLY THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERING OR DYING WHILE DRIVING...IN THE DARK. JUST THIS WEEK I WAS 20 MINUTES FROM HOME WHEN IT HAPPENED SO BAD I HAD TO PULL OVER. IT SEEM LIKE IT MAY HAVE BEEN TRIGGERED BY USING THE TURN SIGNAL. IT HAPPENED THE NEXT MORNING AFTER A NIGHT OF REST. I'VE SEEN THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT WAS RECALLED IN A DIFFERENT MODEL AND FEEL IT SHOULD BE A RECAP IN ALL KIA MODELS.

I PICKED IT UP AND DROVE IT ON THE HWY AND IT STALLED AT 75MPH AND TOTALLY HAD NOTHING AND HAD TO MANEUVER THE CAR OFF THE HWY WITH MY GRAND KIDS IN THE CAR. I MANAGED TO GET IT STARTED TO GET IT HOME AND IT STALLED AGAIN AT ALL THE STOP SIGNS AND WAS ALMOST T-BONED FROM THE SIDE. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CONVERTER HEATS UP AND THE FUEL IS NOT FEED INTO ENGINE RIGHT. IT WAS TOWED BACK TO KIA AND THEY TOLD ME THE ENGINE HAS METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL FROM THE CONVERT GETTING HOT. I CANT BELIEVE THEY LET ME DRIVE THIS CAR OFF THE LOT KNOWING THAT THERE IS A RECALL # SC176... I ALMOST GOT KILLED WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. THE BATTERY WAS RECHARGED; HOWEVER, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER AND HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD SPEAK WITH THE DEALER AND REFER THE CASE TO A HIGHER UP OFFICIAL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED UNDER THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND NO ERROR CODES WERE FOUND, THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,037.
AS I DROVE HOME I HEARD AN UNUSUAL SOUND COMING FROM MY ENGINE. THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLICKER ON AND OFF. ONCE HOME I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL AND I HAD NO OIL SHOWING ON THE DIP STICK. I CONTACTED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH CONCERNS ABOUT THE CURRENT RECALL ON THE KIA SOUL BUT WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY PARTICULAR MODEL. USUALLY I AM NOTIFIED IF MY VEHICLE IS AFFECTED BY POSSIBLE RECALLS AND THEY ARE FIXED RIGHT AWAY. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS RECALL AND NOW MY VEHICLE MAY HAVE POSSIBLE DAMAGE BECAUSE OF IT. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,143.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. MULTIPLE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
HEADLIGHTS MYSTERIOUSLY BEGIN FLICKERING AFTER USING TURN SIGNAL OR FLICKER WITHOUT USING TURN SIGNAL. LIGHTS HAVE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF WITHOUT WARNING AT NIGHT CREATING AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. HEADLIGHTS HAVE ALSO FLICKERED HITTING BUMPS IN ROAD AGAIN CAUSING UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. I NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN - SO IT DOES CAUSE SOME VERY NERVOUS DRIVING EXPERIENCES. I'M ATTACHING A DOCUMENT SHOWING OTHER KIA SOUL OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEMS.
FLICKERING HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS. VERY DANGEROUS AS IT OCCURS WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK. FOR SAFETY REASONS, I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT NIGHT. MY LOCAL DEALER WILL NOT FIX FREE OF CHARGE SINCE THIS PROBLEM, WHILE WIDELY KNOWN AND DANGEROUS, HAS NOT BEEN CLASSIFIED AS A 'RECALL.'
MY SON WAS COMING TO A STOP DUE TO A CAR IN FRONT OF HIM MAKING A LEFT TURN AND WAS AT ABOUT 5 MPH ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY THE DASH LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE AND THE CAR STARTED CLICKING AND KNOCKING AND SHUT OFF. THE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE UNTIL EVERY WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH LIT UP. NOW THE BEARINGS ARE SHOT. THE CAR HAS NEVER LEAKED OIL THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS AS CLEAN AS IT CAN BE. I AM GLAD IT DID NOT THROW A ROD THROUGH THE BLOCK AND START A FIRE.
REPLACED A HEADLIGHT AND WITHIN 15 MIN. THE BULB BLEW OUT. WHEN I CHECKED THE BULB THE CONNECTOR PART WAS HOT AND A LITTLE MELTED.
TAKATA RECALL MY 2014 KIA SOUL HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF WHILE IN MOTION AT NIGHT! THEY BOTH BEGIN TO FLICKER AND THEY TURN OFF AND JUST LEAVE ME WITH MY LOW RUNNING LIGHTS ON. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME KIA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS AND THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD!! THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ALOT OF PEOPLE AND NEED TO BE A RECALL
HEADLIGHT G OOFF WITHOUT OUT WARNING. VERY DANGEROUS!! THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. LIGHTS FLICK BACK ON AFTER .A FEW SECONDS, OR UP TO A MINUTE.
