THE HEADLIGHT CONNECTORS MELT OR BURN OUT CAUSING ONE OR MORE HEADLIGHTS TO STOP WORKING INTERMITTENTLY OR COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. THIS ISSUE OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR STATIONARY.
HEADLIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF OR TURN OFF COMPLETELY AFTER USING TURN SIGNAL. LIGHTS ALWAYS FLICKER OR TURN OFF AFTER TURN IS COMPLETED AND THE TURN SIGNAL GOES BACK TO NORMAL. HAPPENS AT EVERY SPEED WHETHER THERE IS A BUMP IN THE ROAD OR NOT.
EVERY TIME I START MY CAR, THERE IS A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THERE IS ALSO AN OIL LEAK, AND MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON 3,000 MILES BEFORE I WAS DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE KNOCKING WILL SUBSIDE, BUT COME BACK IN SPURTS AS I AM DRIVING.
NO INCIDENT YET, BUT VEHICLE BURNS AT LEAST A QUART OF OIL PER WEEK. THE CAR HAS JUST OVER 80,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS CONSUMING OIL PREMATURELY WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROWLEY KIA (223 BROAD STREET, BRISTOL, CT 06010, (860) 589-4444) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE ENGINE OIL LEAK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STARTER WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT FIX THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO CONSUME OIL PREMATURELY AND STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REBUILT AT HER EXPENSE AFTER SHUTTING DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COWBOY KIA (443 N INTERSTATE 45 S, CONROE, TX 77301, (936) 494-0600) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE HAD NOT COMMUNICATED WITH THE DEALER. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND HAD BEEN AT THE DEALER SINCE THE END OF APRIL. THE DEALER PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE WAS IGNORING HER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE IN REVERSE AFTER LETTING OFF (REMOVING FOOT FROM) THE ACCELERATOR AND MOVING TO THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE HAS SIGNIFICANTLY SPED UP AS IF THE ACCELERATOR IS STILL BEING DEPRESSED. THE FIRST OCCASION WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON ON AN UNEVENTFUL FAIR WEATHER DAY WHILE BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AND ENTERING A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE SECOND TIME WAS IN A COSTCO PARKING LOT, AGAIN ON A CLEAR AND UNEVENTFUL WEATHER DAY. NO RAIN OR ICE ON EITHER DAY HERE IN SACRAMENTO CA. THIS SECOND TIME, THE CAR ACCELERATED WITH SUCH SPEED THAT I WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE FROM CONTINUING TO REVERSE AND THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED MY VEHICLE WAS RUNNING INTO A PARKED TRUCK.
"TAKATA RECALL " I HAD A REAR END ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE REAR END ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY I WAS HIT FROM THE REAR AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY I WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY AT 45 MI PER HOUR I BELIEVE THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED THE POLICE HAVE PHOTOS
ON 09/23/2018, WHILE DRIVING 70 ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 1 MONTH AFTER MY TUNE UP, MY CAR STARTED MAKING THIS HORRIBLE NOISE AND THE ENGINE AND OIL LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THE CAR STARTED JERKING AND RATTLING REALLY HARD. I PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE BLEW A SPARK WIRE (I HAVE A VIDEO). I DROVE TO THE NEAREST ADVANCE AUTO PARTS AND A MECHANIC OF 30 YEARS SAID HE NEVER SEEN NOTHING LIKE IT. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT BACK TO CASTROL (WHO COMPLETED MY TUNE UP) AND THEY CHANGED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES STATING THAT THEY NEVER SEEN THAT HAPPEN BEFORE AND THERE WERE NO LEAKS AND NO INDICATION AS TO WHY THAT HAPPENED. ON 12/172018, THE CAR STARTED JERKING AND RATTLING AGAIN WHILE GOING ABOUT 45-50 ON A MAIN ROAD AND ONCE I PARKED, IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I HAD IT TOWED TO ED VOYLE KIA AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY ENGINE SO IT WILL BE REPLACED. THEY PUT ME IN A RENTAL AND TWO MONTHS LATER I WAS TOLD THAT YES, THERE IS A RECALL, HOWEVER, MY VIN # HASN'T COME UP YET SO I CAN PAY OUT OF POCKET AND BE REIMBURSED ONCE MY VIN# COME UP. THEY TOOK THE RENTAL BACK AND I'M NOW WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. I CAN'T GET TO WORK AND I STILL OWE ABOUT 10K ON MY CAR. NO ONE IS HELPING ME AT KIA AND I'VE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND. I LITERALLY WAS PROVIDED A PO BOX TO SEND MY COMPLAINT TO. I'VE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL PEOPLE YET NO ONE SEEM TO CARE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND REMAINED IN SECOND GEAR. ALSO, THE OIL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BENSON KIA OF SPARTANBURG (LOCATED AT 1100 N PINE ST, SPARTANBURG, NC 29303, (864) 585-3611) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN COMPUTER CODE NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO MANUEVER THE GEAR SHIFTER OUT OF GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TAKATA RECALL.. DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM KEEPS GOING OUT. PREVIOUSLY IT WOULD BE OUT ONE DAY THEN WHEN I WOULD START MY CAR IT WOULD COME BACK ON. IN THE PICTURE BOTH LIGHTS ARE WORKING BUT 5 MINS BEFORE ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS WORKING. THIS HAS BEEN AN GOING ISSUE FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS NOW. SOMETIMES I HAD TO REPLACE THE BULB AFTER IT BEING OUT FOR OVER A WEEK BUT THE BULB WAS NOT BLOWN.
ON DECEMBER 9TH, 2018 AT APPROXIMATELY 6:10AM, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY BROKE DOWN AND BEGAN TO SMOKE. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND REMOVED MY IMPORTANT BELONGINGS. WITHIN MINUTES MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. I NOTIFIED CITY POLICE, FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND INSURANCE COMPANY. MY CAR WAS ULTIMATELY DESTROYED AND TAKEN TO A JUNK YARD.
DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. REPLACED BULB BACK ON AND THEN RIGHT BACK OFF. FURTHER LOOKING AND THE ADAPTER PLUG THAT SNAPS INTO THE BACK OF THE LIGHT IS BURNT!
AFTER REACHING THE 80000 MILE MARK I NOTICED A SLIGHT VIBRATION IN THE CAR THAT VARIED WITH THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. I EVENTUALLY HAD THE TIRES REPLACED AND BALANCED BUT THE VIBRATION DIDN'T GO AWAY. AFTER ELEVATING THE CAR ON IT'S JACK STAND I HAND TURNED THE REAR WHEELS AND LOOKED CAREFULLY. I NOTICED THERE WAS A SLIGHT WOBBLE. I REPLACED BOTH REAR WHEEL HUBS AND THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. THE FACT THE HUBS DIDN'T EVEN LAST UNTIL 100K MILES WAS BOTHERSOME THOUGH. ESPECIALLY CONSIDERED ALMOST ALL THE MILEAGE WAS FROM HIGHWAY TRAVEL.
CONNECTOR ON HEADLIGHT WIRES ARE BURNING WHILE OPERATING HEADLIGHTS AND CAUSEING BOTH HEADLIGHTS TO GO OUT WHILE ON THE EXPRESSWAY. BULBS ARE BURNT OUT BUT HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON UNTIL CAR SITS FOR A WHILE.
11/23/2018 1445 TRAVELING FROM WILSONVILLE OR TO NETARTS BAY, OR ON HWY 6 WESTBOUND CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE/ KIA ENGINE OIL DEFECT - ENGINE SEIZED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. SAFELY GOT INTO TILLAMOOK TO CALL AAA FOR AN 85 MILE TOW BACK HOME TO WILSONVILLE. HAD A VERY LONG WAIT IN THE RAIN FOR TOW TRUCK. WE REGULARLY CHANGED OIL AND PERFORMED ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE OF WHICH WE HAVE COMPLETE RECORDS, VERY CLEAN AND NO ACCIDENTS. NO WARNING TO ANY PROBLEM BEFORE INCIDENT. AFTER THE INCIDENT WE HAD THE OIL CHECKED AND CHANGED AGAIN AT VALVOLINE INSTANT OIL CHANGE IN TILLAMOOK JUST TO SEE IF THEY COULD HELP. NEW OIL DID NOT IMPROVE THE CONDITION.
I HAD TO GET NEW HEADLIGHTS AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS NOW GETTING RIDICULOUS. ONE HEAD LIGHT WILL NOT WORK. IT WILL COME ON WHEN IT FEELS LIKE COMING ON. SOMETIMES IT COMES ON.SOMETIMES IT WILL COME ON RIGHT AWAY OTHERS TIMES IT WILL FLICKER ON OFF AND NOT WORK AT ALL. IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I DRIVE HOME IN THE DARK AND I DNT WANT TO GET FILLED OVER. I ALSO DRIVE IN DARK ROADS AND IT MAKES IT HARD TO SEE WHEN ONLY ONE HEADLIGHT WORKS. I AM NOW NOTICING THAT IS THE WORKING IN THE CAR NOT MY HEADLIGHTS.
WHEN DRIVING, IT STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE OUT OF NO WHERE HAD 2 SHOPS CONFIRM THEY HAVE TO GET INTO THE ENGINE TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT WAS INSIDE. THIS CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED. NO REASON THE ENGINE SHOULD HAVE GONE OUT. CAR WAS 4 FEET DOWN MY STREET WHEN IT STARTED KNOCKING REALLY LOUDLY. WAS NOT EVEN RUNNING FOR A MINUTE.
WAS DRIVING DOWN CITY STREET WHEN VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL AND MAKE A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. PULLED OVER CHECKED AND ADDED A LITTLE OIL, AND WHEN WENT TO START THE CAR IT WAS SLOW TO START AND ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND REMAINED ON. OIL IS FINE.
SAFETY CONCERN: ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE IS A 2014 KIA SOUL WITH 104,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL AREA AT <20 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE MADE A SINGLE "POP" SOUND AND THE VEHICLE EXPELLED A LARGE BLACK CLOUD OF SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER, INTO A GAS STATION. SHORTLY BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE DRIVER HEARD ANOTHER LOUD "POP" SOUND FROM THE ENGINE AREA OF THE VEHICLE, FOLLOWED BY AN ADDITIONAL CLOUD OF BLACK SMOKE ESCAPING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED A COMPLETE STOP, THE DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICLE AND OPENED THE HOOD OF THE CAR, TO DISCOVER THE TOP OF THE ENGINE WAS ON-FIRE. THE FIRE WAS AS TALL AS THE ENGINE HOOD AND WIDE AS THE MOTOR. IT APPEARS ALL COMPONENTS IN THE ENGINE AREA WERE BURNED/MELTED, INCLUDING THE MOTOR COVER, HOSES, AND ELECTRICAL WIRES. THE DRIVER NOTIFIED THE GAS STATION ATTENDANT OF THE FIRE, AND USED THE GAS STATION'S FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO EXTINGUISH THE ENGINE FIRE. THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE WAS NOTIFIED THIS REPAIR WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR WARRANTIED REPAIR, WHICH EXPIRED AT 100,000 MILES, ACCORDING TO THE KIA SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY KIA TO A KIA DEALERSHIP, AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER, WHERE IT REMAINED DORMANT FOR 5 DAYS, DUE TO A HOLIDAY BREAK.
ENGINE RUNS DRY OF OIL WHILE STATIONARY, HEADLIGHT WIRES MELT WHILE STATIONARY.
11-6-18 - WHILE IN MOTION, MID TURN, MY CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH, AND THEN WHEN CAR SHUT DOWN, BATTERY DIED AS WELL AND WINDOW WAS STUCK DOWN. I AM SO THANKFUL I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. DEALERSHIP HAS SAID MOTOR IS LOCKED UP AND CANNOT EVEN BE MANUALLY STARTED & THAT I NEED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE.
WHEN USING A TURN SIGNAL WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON, ONCE THE TURN SIGNAL RELEASES, THE HEADLIGHTS WILL FLICKER AND OFTEN GO OUT COMPLETELY. THIS HAPPENS IN TOWN, AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS DANGEROUS AT NIGHT, WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NECESSARY.
COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE - 11-5-18 - ALL LIGHTS CAME ON AND CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN. ALL OIL WAS GONE FROM ENGINE. CAR CANNOT EVEN BE MANUALLY CRANKED. SEEMS TO BE EXACT SAME ISSUE DISCOVERED WITH SAME YEAR 1.6L ENGINES, BUT WASN'T INCLUDED IN RECALL AS A 2.0L ENGINE FOR WHATEVER REASON. 3 MECHANICS HAVE QUOTED ME A $10K REPAIR INCLUDING AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE. NO SALVAGE OR USED ENGINES AVAILABLE ANYWHERE.
2014 KIA SOUL. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED DUE TO AN OIL LEAK. THE GAS FLOAT SENSOR AND FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED.. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER WAS DIRECTED TO WAIT FOR MAIL NOTIFICATION TO HAVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED. *JS
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 60 MPH LOUD SOUND FROM ENGINE AND ALL POWER LOST. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SHOULDER AND DIP STICK SHOWED NO OIL IN ENGINE. OIL JUST CHANGE BY TWO MONTHS PRIOR BY KIA DEALERSHIP. LOOKED UNDER CAR AND POOL OF OIL. HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THE ENGINE BLEW AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY AS WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THE WARRANTY IS NOT TRANSFERABLE. THE VEHICLE HAD 70,000 MILES AND THE ENGINE BLEW. SO MUCH FOR A 10 YEAR 100,000 MILE WARRANTY WHEN KIA DOES NOT TRANSFER THE WARRANTY TO A VEHICLE THEY SELL AT THE DEALERSHIP. ITS CALLED A MANUFACTURER WARRANTY NOT A OWNER WARRANTY. KIA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAULTY ENGINES THEY HAVE USED. THE DEALERSHIP EVEN ADMITTED THIS WAS A ENGINE FAILURE AND NOT OWNER FAILURE. I HAVE OWNED 4 KIA'S AND WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER ONE.
ON OCTOBER 27, 2018 WHILE DRIVING ON I-10 WEST TOWARDS DOWNTOWN BATON ROUGE, MY 2014 KIA SOULS' ENGINE 'POPPED' AND LOST ACCELERATION VERY SUDDENLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. IT WAS TOWED IMMEDIATELY TO ALL STAR KIA OF BATON ROUGE ON SIEGEN LANE WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED FOUR MONTHS PRIOR. IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE SOUL HAD A 'MASSIVE ENGINE FAILURE' WHICH CAUSE IT TO THROW A ROD THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK. IT WAS ALSO AT THIS TIME THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED ME THAT THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO ME SINCE I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND KIA HAS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR OR REPLACE OF THE ENGINE. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE FAILURE ONLINE, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 AND 2015 KIA SOULS. SEVERAL REPORTS HAVE BEEN FILED WITH THE NHTSA CONCERNING BOTH ENGINE FAILURES AND ENGINE FIRES, BUT HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECENT RECALLS. I IMPLORE THE NHTSA TO INCLUDE THE 2014 KIA SOUL IN THE RECENT RECALLS FOR HYUNDAI AND KIA DUE TO ENGINE FIRE PROBLEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO SECURELY RESTRAIN THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WHIPLASH AND MUSCLE STRAINS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS BENT AND THE CHASSIS WAS FRACTURED DUE TO THE CRASH. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
ON 10/22/2018, WHILE DRIVING MY 2014 KIA 2.0L GID SOUL, AT OR UNDER 60 MPH ON A PAVED HIGHWAY, MOVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE, I HEARD A CLUNK AND THE ENGINE DIED AT 128,048 MILES. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW. ALL MAINTENANCE WAS CONDUCTED AT ONLY 2 KIA DEALERSHIPS WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE PRIMARY DEALERSHIP BUT HAD TO TOWED TO STORAGE SEVERAL DAYS UNTIL I RETURNED . IT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP- NOW UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. I REQUESTED A DIAGNOSIS OF THE ENGINE FAILURE BUT IT WAS NOT DONE, REASON UNKNOWN, SO I ORDERED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP APRIL 10 TO JUNE 25, 2019, AT WHICH TIME I TURNED IN MY RENTAL CAR AND PAID FOR THE ENGINE- AGAIN, NOT RECEIVING A REPORT AS TO WHY THE ENGINE FAILED IN A CATASTROPHIC MANNER. BETWEEN 5/22/2019 AND 7/30/2019, I ATTEMPTED TO COMMUNICATE WITH KIA USA BY PHONE AND EMAILS TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS. AFTER RUNNING VEHICLE THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR RUNNING LIGHT GOES OUT. THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS CHECKED AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL, TURN INDICATOR WORKS, BRAKE LIGHT WORKS, HAZARD LIGHT FLASHES. THIS IS THE FACTORY LED VERSION OF THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS HAPPENED 6 MONTHS AGO. THEN I FLIPPED THE FUSE AND IT CAME BACK ON. NOW IT HAS GONE OFF AGAIN AND THE FUSE FLIP IS NOT REMEDYING THE PROBLEM.

WHEN THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH CONTROLLING THE HEADLAMPS IS IN AUTOMATIC MODE, THE HEADLAMPS WILL SWITCH OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT NIGHT OR IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, AND THE LIGHTS GO OFF LEAVING ME DRIVING BLIND FOR SEVERAL MOMENTS ON THE ROAD. THE LIST OF BAD THINGS THE COULD HAPPEN IS ENDLESS: HIT A PEDESTRIAN OR CYCLIST ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD; HAVE SOMEONE PULL OUT NOT SEEING ME COMING, VEER OR BRAKE UNEXPECTEDLY DUE THE SHOCK OF THE LIGHTS GOING OFF, YOU NAME IT. KIA APPEARS TO HAVE ISSUES A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE TOPIC CONCERNING DEFECTIVE LIGHTING CONNECTIONS, BUT, THE DEALERSHIP I CALLED SEEMED UNAWARE OF IT. MULTIPLE POSTS ON LINE SHOW THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AND SEVERAL STATE KIA WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL AND WILL ONLY PAY FOR A BULLETIN ITEM IF THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN WARRANTY, WHICH MINE IS NOT. IMMEDIATELY THICK BLACK VOLUMINOUS SMOKE EMITTED FROM PASSENGER SIDE UNDER HOOD AND WITHIN SECONDS FLAMES DISCHARGED. MY WIFE, MYSELF AND OUR DOG EXTRICATED OURSELVES IMMEDIATELY AND STARTED WALKING TO NEIGHBORS HOUSE FOR FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO MITIGATE DAMAGE. WITHIN APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE THE FIRST OF SEVERAL EXPLOSIONS BEGAN AND ERUPTION OF ENGULFING FIRE BEGAN TO CONSUME THE VEHICLE. WE HAD STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE GRASS CAUGHT FIRE. 911 WAS CALLED AND WHEN THE MEMBERS OF TWO LOCAL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS ARRIVED THE CAR WAS TOTALLY EVOLVED IN FLAMES. A LIQUID (PROBABLY WATER) WAS USED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. CONTACTED FARMERS INSURANCE COMPANY. NO POLICE REPORT REQUIRED RE: NO COLLISION. WE WERE DILIGENT IN HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE AND ATTENTION TO VEHICLE RECALLS. TIRES WERE REPLACED WHEN WORN AND RXP GAS ADDITIVE USED. INSURANCE ADJUSTOR STATED VEHICLE WAS SO BADLY BURNED IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF FIRE.

WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND COST ME TO HAVE IT FIXED WHEN IT IS APPARENTLY A RE-OCCURRING PROBLEM. THIS OCCURS DURING STATIONARY MODES AND TRAVELING MODE. ON BACK ROADS WITH NO LIGHTING THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

While I was driving on the highway, I heard a loud banging coming from the front of my car. I took it to a repair shop and was told it needed a valve replacement but it was only a matter of time before I would need to replace the engine. I did have the valve job done at great expense to me. However the engine light came on and despite having each of the problems fixed generated by the codes that came up, the engine light never went off. Now I understand there is an engine recall and the problems described are exactly what is wrong with my car e.g. engine light is on, check oil light flickering on, gasoline/fuel odor. I also had the catalytic converter replaced at my expense, only to find out there was a recall on that too. I need to have my engine replaced. This is a safety issue. Kia needs to make good on its promise.
