DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT ONLY WORKS AT RANDOM TIMES, IT WILL COME ON AND A FEW SECONDS LATER IT GOES OUT. MOST TIMES IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. LAST WEEK I HAD A NEW SWITCH INSTALLED THAT WAS ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, THE LIGHT WORKED FOR ONE (1) DAY AND WAS OUT AGAIN YET I WAS TOLD THE SWITCH WAS BAD THAT THEY REMOVED. HAPPENS WHEN MOVING OR STATIONARY, LEAVING DRIVEWAY. IF THE VEHICLE SETS A WHILE SOMETIMES IT WILL COME ON AND STAY ON MOST TIMES IT JUST DOESN'T WORK. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHEN THE OTHER HEADLIGHT WILL GO OUT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE AUG. 2018. I REPLACE THE BULB AND IT WORKS FOR 3 MONTHS THEN STARTS OVER AGAIN WORKING RANDOMLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR TO ALERT THEM OF THE OIL LEVEL. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TOWED TO CRAIN KIA OF BENTONVILLE (2901 MOBERLY LN, BENTONVILLE, AR) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE ENGINE BE REPLACED. THE OIL ALERT FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
ON AUGUST 16, 2018 AT APPROX 1030 PM MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 5 IN HOLLIS CETNER MAINE AT APPROX 50 MPH AND CAR STARTED RUNNING ROUGH, SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM UNDER HOOD. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND CAR WAS ON FIRE UNDERNEATH ENGINE, MELTING THE ENGINE. FOUND MELTED ENGINE PARTS (PISTON HEADS, CONNECTING RODS) ON THE GROUND ALONG WITH OTHER MELTED PARTS. FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY HOME OWNER ON ROUTE 5
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST A LARGE AMOUNT OF POWER AND MADE CLANKING AND KNOCKING NOISES. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN HOME AT 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CAR PROS KIA HUNTINGTON BEACH (18835 BEACH BLVD, HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA 92648, (714) 274-6176) WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY MENTIONED THAT THE ENGINE MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000. THE CONSUMER STATED WOULD LIKE THE VEHICLE TO BE SWAPPED OUT FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING A RETURN PHONE CALL OR PROVIDED WITH NHTSA HOTLINE NUMBER.
HEADLIGHTS RANDOMLY FLASH OFF AND BACK ON WHILE DRIVING. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN WITH THE TURN SIGNAL ACTIVATED BUT ALSO HAPPENS WITHOUT. THIS CAN SOMETIMES BE CORRECTED BY TURNING THE LIGHTS OFF THEN BACK ON MANUALLY. ALL OF THIS IS QUITE DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING NEEDLESS TO SAY AND SHOULD CERTAINLY BE A RECALL ITEM.
WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS WENT OUT FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. THEY ALSO GO OUT AT DIFFERENT TIMES, ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE MOST RECENT BEING ON 08/05/2018
WHEN I DRIVE MY SOUL IN THE DARK WITH MY HEADLIGHTS ON THEY START FLICKERING AND THEN THEY JUST GO COMPLETELY OUT. SOMETIMES IT'S SMALL FLICKERING AND SOMETIMES IT IS COMPLETELY OUT AND DONT COME BACK ON FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. TODAY I HAD TO TURN THEM OFF AND BACK ON TWICE BEFORE THEY WOULD COME BACK ON AT ALL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN IT IS DARK. ESPECIALLY DRIVING ON A CURVY 2 LANE HIGHWAY IN THE DARK LIKE I DO. AT FIRST IT HAPPENED WHEN I USED MY TURN SIGNAL, BUT NOW I DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING AND THEY FLICKER AND THEN GO ON AND OFF.
WHEN HEADLAMPS ARE IN AUTOMATIC MODE, THEY WILL SOMETIMES FLICKER ON/OFF, OR TURN OFF COMPLETELY UNTIL HEADLAMP CONTROLS ARE MANIPULATED (BY TURNING HEADLAMP POWER SWITCH DIAL BACK AND FORTH OR BY PULLING/PUSHING LOW/HIGH BEAM CONTROL). THIS IS EXACERBATED BY DRIVING ON AN UNSTABLE ROAD (I.E. A ROAD WITH POTHOLES OR BUMPS), WHEN ACTUATING SIGNAL LIGHT CONTROLS, AND WHEN STOPPING. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GOING AT SPEEDS OVER 40 MPH, BUT HAS HAPPENED IN CITY STREETS AT VELOCITIES AS LOW AS 5 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST MONTHS, BEGINNING AROUND AUGUST 2018.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DELAND KIA (2322 S WOODLAND BLVD, DELAND, FL 32720) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL WAS SEVERELY LOW AND NEEDED TO BE REPLENISHED. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLE; SHE WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE OIL LIGHT WOULD ONLY COME ON IF THE OIL WAS COMPLETELY EMPTIED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO OIL OR GAS LEAKAGE IN HER VEHICLE AND THAT THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH HER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY INFORMED HER THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED HER FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING IN 2016 IT WAS REPLACED AS IT WAS DEFECTIVE AT 45,000 MILES NOW 2018 THE ENGINE HAS BASICALLY DONE THE SAME THING WITH 54,000 MILES UNABLE TO DRIVE HAD TO WAIT 2 DAYS FOR TKIA TO DETERMINE IF I WAS AT FUALT OR THE ENGINE ITSELF FINALLY DETERMINED IT WAS KIA FAULT TO BE REPLACED AGAIN DUE TO DEFECT AFTER READING OTHER CONSUMERS REPORTS THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ENGINES SEIZING, CATCHING FIRE ETC
MY 2014 KIA SOUL COULD HAVE KILLED MY KIDS WHEN IT BLEW A ROD AT 120,000 MILES. MY 18 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING (MY 21 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS A PASSENGER) MY CAR IN A BUSY 4 LANE TRAFFIC IN UTAH WHEN THE CAR LOST ALL POWER! I AM JUST GRATEFUL THAT MY CHILDREN DID NOT DIE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE KIA'S ARE SUPPOSED TO RUN FOREVER. I DID REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON MY CAR AND NOW I AM LOOKING AT $5,000 TO REPAIR MY CAR! I CALLED KIA HEADQUARTERS AND THE ONLY THING I GOT WAS TREATED BADLY! HOW COULD THIS BE MY FAULT? AN INTERESTING THING IS THAT A CO-WORKER OF MINE HAD A 2014 KIA THAT DID THE EXACT SAME THING AT 110,00 MILES! SHE ALSO HAD TO PAY THE MONEY AND KIA TREATED HER BADLY AS WELL. I NEED HELP TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS FROM KIA IT IS THEIR FAULT!
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AND SOMETIMES GO OFF RANDOMLY. THIS HAS NOW BEGUN TO OCCUR WHILE THE CAR IS ALSO PARKED. THIS IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS WHILE TRAVELING AT NIGHT AND A HUGE SAFETY RISK.
THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2014 KIA SOUL STARTED TO FLICKER AS WELL AS THE INTERNAL LIGHTS AT THE SAME TIME ON THE DASHBOARD (SPEED, ETC.). I NORMALLY KEEP THE HEADLIGHT SETTING ON AUTO AND I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER 4 YEARS NEVER HAD AN ISSUE UNTIL NOW. I AM PAYING TO GET THE SWITCH REPLACED IN HOPES IT WILL RESOLVE THIS ISSUE, BUT IT IS DANGEROUS PROBLEM BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS NO LONGER JUST FLICKER THEY WILL GO COMPLETELY OUT SOME TIMES WHICH CAN BE SCARY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT.
TESTED DEFICIENCY ON MULTIPLE CONDITIONS (CAR MOVING, STATIONARY, ENGINE RUNNING AND ENGINE OFF, HIGHWAY AND CITY ROADS) AND NOTHING CHANGED THE LIGHT BEHAVIOR. DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT ONLY. INITIALLY FLICKERED ON AND OFF. SOMETIMES TOGGLING BRIGHTS ON AND OFF WOULD HELP AT FIRST. THIS WENT ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF. AFTER LIGHT STOPPED WORKING, I CHANGED BOTH BULBS. LIGHT CONTINUED TO FLICKER OFF AND ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THEN DIED ALTOGETHER. CALLED SHAWNEE MISSION KIA, IN OVERLAND PARK, KS AND SPOKE TO SERVICE MANAGER JOE. HE STATED HE WAS NOT PERSONALLY FAMILIAR WITH THE ISSUE, BUT THAT SOME OF HIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES MIGHT BE. I TOLD HIM THERE WERE 132 COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE, BUT HE TOLD ME WITHOUT A RECALL I COULD NOT GET A DISCOUNT OR FREE REPAIR. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT COULD RESULT IN A DRIVER LOSING ALL HEADLIGHT FUNCTION WITHOUT WARNING. I AM UNABLE TO SAFELY OPERATE MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT BECAUSE KIA WILL NOT REPAIR THEIR OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, WHEN THE BLINKER IS USED, THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AND GO OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS. ONCE YOU USE THE BLINKER ONCE IT WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO FOR MANY MINUTES. THIS IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE. UPON RESEARCH, IT IS A FAULTY WIRE THAT OVERHEATS THE CONNECTOR CAUSING IT BECOME DEFORMED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ASAP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLICKER AND THEN COMPLETELY TURN OFF. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD INADVERTENTLY ILLUMINATE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
WAS DRIVING DOWN BACK COUNTRY HIGHWAY WHERE THERE ARE NO HIGHWAY LIGHTS WHEN MY HEAD LIGHTS WOULD TURN OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN BACK ON A COUPLE OF TIMES. THEN WHEN I THOUGHT IT WAS OKAY TO DRIVE, ANYTIME I WOULD USE MY BLINKER, ALL OF MY INTERIOR WOULD TURN OFF AND ON. THIS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME UNTIL RECENTLY. I WASN'T HITTING ANY BUMPS WHEN IT HAPPENED, JUST HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS BACK HOME FROM A WEEKEND TRIP SO IT'S NOT LIKE I WAS CLOSE TO HOME EITHER WHICH MADE IT WORSE. ABOUT A YEAR AGO I DID HAVE MY HEADLIGHT WIRING WORKED ON AFTER MY LEFT HEADLIGHT WOULD RANDOMLY WORK AND NOT WORK ON DAYS AND IT TURNED OUT TO BY MY WIRE BURNED. KIA FIXES THAT PROBLEM BUT THIS HEADLIGHT FLICKERING AT NIGHT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND AFTER RESEARCHING IT LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME SCARY SCENARIO WITH NO GOOD OUTCOME FROM KIA. JUST TO ADD AS WELL, I'VE BEEN RECIEVING NUMEROUS CALLS FROM KIA BEFORE THIS TRYING TO BUY MY CAR BACK BECAUSE IT IS IN 'HIGH DEMAND', BUT AFTER THIS HAPPENED IT HAS CAME ACROSS MY MIND THAT THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO BUY THEM BACK TO PREVENT LIABILITY ON THEIR PART FOR NOT PUTTING A RECALL OUT ON THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS TO SOMEONE AND/OR THEIR FAMILY.
DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE HEAD LIGHTS RANDOMLY TURN OFF AND BACK ON, SOMETIMES JUDT FOR A SECOND AND SOMETIMES LONGER.
AT NIGHT HEADLIGHTS AND DASHBOARD GOES OR FLICKERS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. OTHER PEOPLE GOT THE SAME PROBLEM OF IT HAPPENING. WE ALL GET TOLD THAT THEY CAN'T MAKE THE PROBLEM HAPPEN SO THEY CAN'T FIX IT.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY WILL DIM AND BRIGHTEN ON THEIR OWN. SOMETIMES TURNING OFF COMPLETELY. TWICE THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT COMPLETELY AS WELL.
I LENT MY CAR TO A FRIEND WHOM WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE BEGAN RUNNING ROUGH, HE PULLED QUICKLY INTO A GAS STATION AND PARKED. HE CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL AND THERE WAS NONE. HE ADDED 1 QUART OF OIL AND STARTED THE ENGINE HOWEVER IT RAN HORRIBLELY SO HE QUICKLY TURNED IT OFF. HE NOTIFIED ME. I HAD IT TOWED TO A KIA DEALERSHIP WHO CONFIRMED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THE VEHICLE CAME WITH A LIFETIME ENGINE WARRANTY PLUS I KEPT THE CAR MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO DEALER REQUIREMENTS THEY FORWARDED MY MAINTENANCE RECORDS TO A THIRD COMPANY WHICH IS RESEARCHING THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE FAILURE AND WILL THEN DECIDE IF THEY WILL REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE CAR HAD 105,000 MILES ON IT WITH NO PROBLEMS UP UNTIL THAT TIME.
2014 KIA SOUL HEADLAMPS WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. WHEN DRIVING ON COUNTRY ROADS WITH NO STREET LIGHTING AT NIGHT WE MUST STOP AND PLAY WITH THE LIGHTS TO GET THEM TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. IT IS AT THE POINT WHERE WE CAN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE SAFELY AT NIGHT TO AVOID ACCIDENTS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL WEEKS NOW EVEN THOUGH I REPORTED IT AS OF 07/02/2018
THE LIGHTS IN MY KIA SOULS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ARE FLICKERING AND GOING OUT COMPLETELY SOMETIMES. VERY UNSAFE WHEN I AM ALREADY DRIVING. HAPPENS TO MY HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS AND INTERIOR ROOF LIGHTING. IT HAS ALSO CAUSED MY LIGHTS TO STAY ON SOMETIMES AND CAUSES MY BATTERY TO DIE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR IS IDLE OR DRIVING OR OFF COMPLETELY WHEN THE DOORS ARE OPEN.
MY MOTOR EXPLODED JUST LIKE THE 1.6 MOTORS THAT ARE BEING RECALLED BUT MINE IS A 2.0 MOTOR.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY FEW MONTHS AGO AND SUDDENLY THE CAR JUST STALLED I WAS GOING ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR AND THE CAR JUST STALLED AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND IT JUST DID IT AGAIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I HAD TO START THE CAR BOTH TIMES AS IT WAS ROLLING TO KEEP FROM LOSING CONTROL THE VEHICLE.NOW I AM AFRAID.
DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT FLICKERS AND WILL GO OUT COMPLETELY. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY, AND DOES NOT DEPEND ON SPEED. I HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT TWICE. THE SECOND TIME I NOTICED THAT THE CONNECTOR THAT ATTACHES TO THE BULB ITSELF IS STARTING TO MELT.
THE HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAS MELTED AND THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLES HEADLIGHT ON THE DRIVER SIDE TO GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE A FEW MONTHS AGO AND THEN HAPPENED MOST RECENTLY ON 6/8/2018. WE HAD TO THEN DRIVE TO ANOTHER LOCATION TO GET A BULB WHICH DID GIVE US A HEADLIGHT FOR NOW...BUT IT WILL GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING AGAIN AS IT HAS DONE MANY TIMES. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND IS NOT ONLY UNSAFE BUT COULD CAUSE ME TO GET A TICKET SINCE IT IS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE WITHOUT NON-FUNCTIONING HEADLIGHTS. ONLINE RESEARCH HAS INDICATED THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES.
WHILE DRIVING ( IN MOTION) AT NIGHT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, USING MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND WHEN USING MY LEFT AND RIGHT BLINKER, THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE NOW AND TO MY SON SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL HOPEFULLY BE CORRECTED BY KIA.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, there was an abnormal burning odor coming from the vehicle. The oil warning light was flashing on the instrument panel and then the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic, who diagnosed the failure with a catalytic converter and engine pressure. The catalytic converter was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
I EXPERIENCED HEADLIGHT FLICKERING AND GOING OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK THE NIGHT OF JUNE 1, 2018. THIS ALARMING PROBLEM STARTED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER THIS INCIDENT AND BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT AT THE KIA DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 4, 2018, I STARTED RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ELE093 WHICH I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT MY APPOINTMENT. AFTER MY OIL CHANGE, I WAS TOLD NO PROBLEM WAS DETECTED WITH MY HEADLIGHTS. I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AGAIN LAST NIGHT (JULY 19, 2018) AND NEEDED A POLICE ESCORT TO GET HOME. THIS HEADLIGHT PROBLEM IS A PRODUCT LIABILITY ISSUE AND A FACTORY DEFECT. IT IS AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO MY SAFETY AND WELFARE AND THAT OF MY PASSENGERS AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROADWAY. I USE MY VEHICLE TO GET TO MY JOB AT NIGHT AND TO TRANSPORT ELDERLY PATIENTS FOR A VARIETY OF SERVICES, SOMETIMES TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT NIGHT. IN LIGHT OF THE THREAT OF PHYSICAL HARM TO MYSELF AND OTHERS, I HAVE REQUESTED THAT KIA HANDLE THE COST OF REPAIRING THIS PROBLEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SINCE THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.
HEADLIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL GO OUT SUDDENLY. THIS HAPPENS BOTH IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. ALSO UPON STARTING THE CAR OR AFTER DRIVING EVEN A SHORT DISTANCE. RANDOM ACTUALLY. VERY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT.
VEHICLE ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING, COULD NOT GET IT TO START. HAD IT TOWED TO LOCAL FIRESTONE SHOP WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE ENGINE HAD NO OIL AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ITS NOT FAIR AS A VEHICLE OWNER THAT MAINTANS THEIR VEHICLE REGULARLY TO HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN. I DIDN'T GET ANY KIND OF WARNING TO INDICATE THERE WAS A PROBLEM. VEHICLE JUST LOST OIL WITHOUT ANY SIGNS OF LEAKS AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR OIL LIGHT TO GIVE ANY KIND OF WARNING
ON MAY 29TH 2018 I WENT BACK TO HOLLY KIA WITH A PROBLEM WITH MY TIRES . I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR AGAIN ABOUT THE CATALY CONVERTER. HE STATED TO REPAIR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WOULD COST ME ABOUT $1100. I WAS TRULY UPSET BECAUSE MY CAR IS ONLY 4YEARS OLD. ONCE I PICKED UP MY CAR I CONTACTED THE KIA CORPORATE OFFICE AND SPOKE TO ANOTHER YOUNG LADY EXPLAINING TO HER THE SITUATION AND SHE WAS VERY RUDE UNPROFESSIONAL BECAUSE SHE TOLD ME THAT IT KIA ONLY MANUFACTURES THE CAR BUT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHEN A PART SUCH AS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER MAY GO BAD IN A CAR AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. SHE THEN STATED THAT THE NEXT TIME I PURCHASE A CAR I SHOULD MAKE SURE I UNDERSTAND THE WARRANTY COVERAGE BEFORE I PURCHASE THE VEHICLE. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDS REPAIRING. I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY TIRES AND I EXPLAINED TO THE YOUNG LADY THIS AS WELL. I TOLD HER I JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DID NOT WANT TO HELP ME GET THESE SITUATIONS FIX BECAUSE MY CAR WAS FAIRLY NEW. WELL I DIDN'T GET HELP FROM HER. FAR AS MY TIRES AFTER GETTING THE CRANK SENSOR FIX I FOUND MYSELF BACK AT HOLLY KIA GETTING MY TIRES LOOKED AT BECAUSE THE AIR KEPT GOING OUT. ONE MORNING GOING TO WORK A YOUNG MAN STOPPED ME ON THE HIGHWAY TO TELL ME MY TIRE WAS FLAT I IMMEDIATELY BUT AIR IN THE TIRE AND WENT TO HOLLY KIA AND TOLD THE SAME PARTS SERVICE SUPERVISOR WHAT THE PROBLEM HE TOOK MY CAR IN AND HAD THE TECHNICIAN LOOK AT MY TIRES I ASKED HIM COULD HE HAVE THEM LOOK AT ALL THE TIRES BECAUSE I AM PUTTING AIR IN THE TIRES EVERY OTHER DAY. WELL IN JUNE MY SON HAD TO PURCHASE THAT SAME TIRE THAT THEY SAID WAS FIX AND TOLD ME ALL THE OTHER TIRES WERE GOOD. IN SEPTEMBER 2018 I HAD TO END UP PURCHASING THREE OTHER TIRES BECAUSE I WAS STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HAVING TO PUT AIR IN THE OTHER TIRES. EVER SINCE I PURCHASE THE TIRES NO PROBLEM
ON MAY 15TH 2018 I CALLED DOWN TO FELTON HOLLY KIA AND ASKED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE WHO COULD TELL ME WHETHER I STILL HAD A WARRANTY ON MY CAR. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT AND I SPOKE WITH A YOUNG LADY WHO INFORMED ME THAT I HAD THE KIA BASIC WARRANTY AS WELL AS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED TO THE YOUNG LADY I WAS HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY CAR AND SHE STATED "OH YOU SHOULD BE FINE WITH NO CHARGES BEING YOU HAVE BOTH WARRANTIES, LET ME TRANSFER YOU TO THE SUPERVISOR IN THE PARTS DEPARTMENT". I SPOKE WITH THE SUPERVISOR IN THE PARTS TO DEPARTMENT AND EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT MY CAR WAS STALLING OUT EVERT TIME I SLOWED DOWN OR WAS AT A STOP. HE STATED HE HAD TO LOOK UP TO SEE WHAT TYPE OF WARRANTY I HAD AND THEN HE RETURNED TO THE PHONE AND STATED YOU SHOULD BE FINE AND HE ASK IF I COULD BRING THE CAR IN RIGHT NOW. I INFORMED HIM THAT I WAS IN TOWNSEND WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTE TO AN HOUR AWAY, HE STATED THAT HIS MAN GOT OFF AT 4:30 PM AND ASKED IF I COULD BRING THE CAR IN ON SATURDAY MORNING MAY 19TH AT 10:00AM. I STATED THAT WOULD BE FINE. I TOOK THE CAR IN ON SATURDAY MORNING AND THE CAR WAS PUT ON A MACHINE TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE CRANK SENSOR AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE BAD. THE PARTS SUPERVISOR INFORMED THAT HE DID NOT BELIEVE THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY THAT HE SEEM ON RECORD BUT I PROCEED TO INFORM HIM THAT I ALSO HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AS WELL AND I WAS INFORMED THAT EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FINE WITHOUT ANY CHARGE TO ME. THE PARTS SUPERVISOR THEN SAID" JUST WAIT FOR A CALL ON MONDAY FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR AND HE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHETHER THE PARTS WOULD BE COVERED" LONG STORY SHORT, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL ON MONDAY MAY 22ND 2019 FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR STATING HE HAD GOOD NEWS AND SOME BAD NEWS. BAD NEWS NEITHER PART WAS COVERED AND OWED $221.73.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT MY HEADLIGHTS FLICKER A FEW TIMES THEN COMPLETELY GO OUT. IT'S SCARY! THEY GO BACK ON SHORTLY AFTER BUT I'M AFRAID OF THEM GOING OUT COMPLETELY. I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS ONLINE.
MY ENGINE BLEW A PISTON AND MY MOTOR EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING 65 ON THE INTERSTATE. I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, MY BRAKES LOCKED UP, MY ENGINE WAS SMOKING. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT.
THE VEHICLE HESITATED, SMOKE ENTERED THE CABIN, AND THEN THE ENGINE BLEW WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEED ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. ONCE PULLED OVER THERE WAS OIL LEAKING OUT OF THE ENGINE AND RUNNING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH FLOW OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT ANY DASHBOARD LIGHT WARNING THERE WAS A POOF OF SMOKE, SMELL OF OIL AND MY VEHICLE LURCHED. I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF OIL WHERE MY VEHICLE STOPPED.
MY HEADLIGHTS GO ON AND OFF AT RANDOM. THEY WILL GO OFF WHILE DRIVING. THEY FLICKER AND THEN GO OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS.
THE VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED AND AT 69441 MILES ON THE 2.0 LITER ENGINE, THE ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO GET OUT AND PUSH IT TO A SAFE AREA OFF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS A SEIZED ENGINE. I CONTACTED A LOCAL KIA DEALER AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER ANY WARRANTY. THEY ONLY OFFERED A VERY HIGH ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I OPTED FOR MY MECHANIC TO INSTALL A USED REPLACEMENT ENGINE FROM AN AUTO RECYCLING COMPANY. INVOICE FOR THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE IS ATTACHED TO THIS REPORT. SINCE THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE CAME OUT OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL KIA SOUL WITH SLIGHTLY LOWER MILES ON IT, I AM CONCERNED THAT THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN WITH THE METAL CHIP IN THE ENGINE DEFECT ISSUE RECENTLY REPORTED, SINCE I DRIVE MOSTLY HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO GET OUT AND HAVE TO PUSH THE CAR OFF A BUSY HIGHWAY!
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2015 KIA SOUL HOME AT NIGHT ON BACK COUNTRY ROADS, THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. THEN THEY COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS THE WHOLE DRIVE HOME. THIS MADE A VERY UNSAFE DRIVE HOME FOR OUR DAUGHTER. SHE HAD TO PULL OVER AND CALL FOR US TO COME GET HER.
THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT RANDOMLY GOES OFF FOR DAYS AT A TIME THEN COMES BACK ON FOR A COUPLE DAYS THEN OFF AGAIN.
SO AT 106000 MILES ENGINE BLOW UP. COME TO FIND OUT THIS ENGINE IS THE SAME ENGINE BEING RECALLED ON OTHER KIA MODELS FOR SAME THING. KIA WOULD NOT HELP ME WITH THE REPAIR. THIS ENGINE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ALSO. IT BLOWS BECAUSE THE HOLD FOR THE PISTONS WHERE CUT WRONG. I WAS TOLD THIS BY THE KIA DEALER THAT FIXED MY CAR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. WHEN REPLACING HEADLIGHT I USE GLOVES SO AS NOT TO TOUCH THE GLASS. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND NOTICE THAT MANY OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. VEHICLE WAS MOVING WHEN ISSUE OCCURRED.
THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WILL FLICKER OR ENTIRELY TURN OFF. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BULB MULTIPLE TIMES WITH MANUFACTURE PRODUCTS AND DISCOVERED THE ELECTRIC PLUG TO THE HEADLIGHT IS MELTED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS WE CANNOT DRIVE AT NIGHT SAFELY. EACH TIME WE REPLACE THE BULB IT STOPS FUNCTIONING IN A FEW DAYS TO WEEKS.
WHILE DRIVING MY KIA SOUL MY HEADLIGHTS WILL SWITCH COMPLETELY OFF AND IT HAS BECAME VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM DRIVING ON DARK BACK ROADS. I NOTICE IT HAPPENS WHEN I PUT MY SIGNAL LIGHT ON AND TURN IT SEEMS THAT THIS MAY BE A TRIGGER TO THE MALFUNCTION. I HAVE SEEN THAT OTHER KIA SOUL OWNERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS SAME MALFUNCTION AND I WONDER WHY IT HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. THE LIGHTS WILL SOMETIMES POP RIGHT BACK ON BUT LAST NIGHT IT BLINKED OUT FOR A MINUTE AND I HAD TO PUT THE HIGH BEAM ON. BUT ALL LAST NIGHT THE HIGH BEEN SEEMED TO NOT WANT TO WORK SO NOW IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT TIME.

HAD TO BREAK SUDDENLY, RAINY ,HAD THE WIPERS GOING, RADIO ON, GPS PLUGGED IN TO AUXILIARY PLUG. 7PTURNED THE NOB ON THE STEERING COLUMN ON /OFF, HEADLIGHTS CAME BACK ON. WENT TO THE NEXT EXIT. STOPPED AT TRAFFIC STOPLIGHT, RIGHT BLINKER, FOOT ON BRAKE, TOOK FOOT OFF BRAKE TO MAKE RIGHT TURN, MADE STEERING WHEEL TURNED TO RIGHT, LIGHTS FLICKERED AGAIN. HAPPENED ON 3-23-18 9:30PM . TOOK TO MY MECHANIC TODAY 4-1-18 - TCB AUTO IN DALLAS GA, BATTERY FINE,BULBS FINE, FUSES FINE, 3 WEEKS AGO HAD OIL CHANGE, NEW TIRES. COULD NOT DIAGNOSE IT..ADVISED ME ONLINE MANY REPORTS ,EVEN KIA DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, IFAFTER BULLETIN,NO RECALLS YET...PUT IN THIS REPORT..
MY KIA SOUL 2014 JUST BLEW UP AND CAUGHT FIRE. THE ENGINE WAS A 4 CYLINDER GDI. THE CAR WENT UP IN FLAMES. THE ENGINE BLEW LOUD AND AS I CAME TO A HALT THE ENTIRE CAR WAS ON FIRE. THEN THE GAS TANK EXPLODED. I WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL GOING UP A HIP NOTICED THE ENGINE RIVETING HARD AND THEN THE CAR ENGINE MADE THAT LOUD BANG AND THEN IN 12 MINUTES CAR WAS ENGULFED AND GAS TANK BLEW AS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED.
MY CAR ENGINE EXPLODED AND CAR CAUGHT FIRE. KIA SAID THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE ENGINE WAS MAKING A LAWN MOWER NOISE PRIOR WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN A FEW DAYS LATER THE ENGINE BLEW. I WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL WHEN ALL THIS HAPPENED. BY THE TIME I MADE MY WAY TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD MY CAR WAS FULLY ENGULFED.
I BOUGHT MY 2014 KIA SOUL USED WITH ONE PREVIOUS OWNER. AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY AFTER PURCHASING IT MY LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLICKER. AT TIMES THEY WOULD GO OUT FOR A FEW MOMENTS. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND HAVE MY HUSBAND DRIVE IN FRONT OF ME WITH OUR OTHER VEHICLE IN FEAR THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AND I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD. I COULD OF BEEN IN A SERIOUS CRASH. ALSO CAME HOME TO A DEAD BATTERY ONE DAY BECAUSE MY LIGHTS WHICH WERE OFF WHEN I LEFT THE HOUSE RANDOMLY WERE ON WHEN I GOT HOME THAT NIGHT.
