The passenger side airbag is shrinking and seems to be collapsing into the dashboard. There is an indicator light on the passenger side that is lit up noting that "airbag off," so apparently there is no airbag protection for passenger. Three days ago, the right side of the windshield - passenger side, and the passenger window and passenger side back seat window, were all moist and foggy in the morning. There were no windows opened. I think the airbag situation is causing the airbag to leak moisture into the surrounding windows and the passenger side of the car. I don't know what this fluid/moisture is composed of, but I can only imagine it must be some type of chemical - something that you do not want to be leaking into the car on a daily basis.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN GARAGE. THOUGH NOT NOTICED IMMEDIATELY, SOMETIME DURING THE MORNING I NOTICED MY DASHBOARD VINYL AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LOOKED SWOLLEN , AND UPON EXAMINATION, IT SHOWED A SPLIT IN THE VINYL ALSO. I TOOK IT TO A REPUTABLE AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST THOUSANDS TO FIX, BUT THAT A DEALERSHIP MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP. SO I WENT TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEAL WHO SAID SOME VEHICLES HAD RECALLS BUT MINE DID NOT. AS TIME GOES ON, THE VINYL SEEMS TO HAVE PRESSURE BUILDING BEHIND IT, AND THE SPLIT IS MORE OBVIOUS. I AM AFRAID TO ALLOW PASSENGERS TO SIT IN THAT SEAT. I AM AFRAID IF THE AIRBAG BURST OUT WHILE I AM DRIVING, I MAY OVERREACT AND WRECK. THIS IS NOT SAFE AT ALL. PLEASE HELP.
UPPER RIGHT MOTOR MOUNT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. NOW CAR IS VIBRATING BETWEEN 45-60 AND HAS NO POWER AND IS TAKING UP TO 1-2 MINUTE'S.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHEN IDLE AND WON'T GO OFF. CODE B1787. NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. UNPLUGGED AND RE-PLUGGED ALL CONNECTIONS; DISCONNECTED BATTERY FOR 15 MINUTES BUT DID NOT RESET LIGHT. DEALER CHECKED AND COULD NOT RESET SYSTEM. NO AIR BAG PROTECTION NOW. FIX REQUIRES NEW SEAT WITH SENSORS EST $4500. CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX.
I STARTED MY CAR AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN, AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT, AIRBAGS WERE NEVER DEPLOYED, I CHECKED ALL THE WIRES AND EVEN UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY FOR GOOD 10 MINUTES AND THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, MY CAR WILL NOT DEPLOY AIR BAGS AND IT CREATES A POTENTIAL THREAT THAT IT CAN BE AN INSTA-DEATH, ESPECIALLY WITH A STEERING WHEEL IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 LEXUS ES. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG COVER IS SEPARATING FROM DASHBOARD AND APPEARS TO HAVE PRESSURE BEHIND IT. VINYL IS CRACKED ON TOP SIDE OF AIRBAG COVER.
PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND WON'T CUT OFF,I HAVEN'T BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT NOR HAS MY AIRBAG EMPLODED, HAD IT LOOK AT BY MECHANIC AT AUTO SHOP WHERE I GET MY OIL CHANGES AND SUCH HE DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ANY PROBLEMS,CALLED LEXUS DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE AN ARM AND A LEG JUST TO LOOK AT IT.
B1650 CODE - OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM CODE DISPLAYS. NEVER BEEN IN ACCIDENT AND WILL NOT GO AWAY. APPEARED AT START UP OVERNIGHT.
CRUISE CONTROL DOING 5-10MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE CAR SURGED FOWARD AND EVEN BRAKING I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME
AIRBAG HAS PARTIALLY OPENED AND I AM AFRAID IT WILL EXPLODE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT.
I WAS IN 3 ACCIDENTS AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOYED. 1 ACCIDENT I WAS HIT IN THE BACK, I WAS NOT MOVING WHEN THE CAR HIT ME FROM BEHIND (ON THE FWY), HE MUST OF BEEN DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 45 MPH. I T-BONED A CAR GOING AT A SPEED OF APPROX. 35 MPH.
I HAD A CAR ACCIDENT APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO DUE TO SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND LOSS OF STEERING IN A 2004 LEXUS ES330. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THE CAR AND I HAD IT SERVICED REGULARLY OVER THE PAST 13 YEARS. THE NIGHT OF MY ACCIDENT I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF MY CAR AS I ATTEMPTED TO MERGE ON TO THE LOCAL LANES OF AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN NORTHERN, NJ. THE CAR ACCELERATED TO THE LEFT AND CROSSED SPED ACROSS 8 LANES OF THE HIGHWAY, INCLUDING OVER A MEDIAN BEFORE IT SPUN AROUND AND JERKED TO A STOP IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE WEST BOUND LANES FACING EAST. I WAS HIT HEAD ON BY ANOTHER DRIVER. I WAS NOT INJURED, BUT THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. BOTH OF MY PARENTS ALSO CURRENTLY DRIVE LEXUS VEHICLES, AND BOTH MODELS WERE NOTED TO HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES. FURTHERMORE, MY MOTHER RECENTLY RECEIVED A LETTER INDICATING HER CAR WAS BEING RECALLED DUE TO THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ISSUES, THE LETTER STATED WHILE TOYOTA WOULD OFFER WHAT THEY CONSIDERED TO BE A SUITABLE FIX AT NO CHARGE. THE LETTER FURTHER EXPLAINED THAT THEY DID NOT CURRENTLY POSSESS THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIRS AND WOULD BE IN TOUCH IN THE FUTURE, NO INDICATION OF THE EXPECTED TIME FRAME WAS PROVIDED. BETWEEN MY ACCIDENT AND KNOWING BOTH OF MY PARENTS ARE CURRENTLY DRIVING VEHICLES THAT ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE, BY TOYOTA'S OWN ADMISSIONS, I HAVE BEEN AND CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE SIGNIFICANT DISTRESS. I AM AWARE OF THE SIGNIFICANT FINES AND SUITS SETTLED AGAINST TOYOTA IN THE PAST, BUT THEY CONTINUE TO SEEM UNFAZED DESPITE THEIR CARS PUTTING ALL OF OUR LIVES AT RISK DAILY. I AM ALSO INCREDIBLY DISGUSTED BY THEIR HISTORY OF VICTIM BLAMING AND WOULD LOVE TO DO WHATEVER I CAN TO BRING ATTENTION TO THIS ISSUE. I FEEL IT IS ONLY FAIR THAT TOYOTA ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR SEEMINGLY NEVER ENDING LIST OF WRONGDOING AND TAKE IMMEDIATE STEPS TO CORRECT ONGOING ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 LEXUS ES330. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INSPECTED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V539000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), BUT THE REPAIR WAS NEVER PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY FRACTURED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
TAKATA RECALL MY 2004 LEXUS ES 330 HAS A MALFUNCTIONING PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THERE IS A LIGHT THAT SAYS PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF THAT IS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THERE IS A GAP IN THE HOUSING WHERE THE AIRBAG IS LOCATED ON THE DASH OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. I AM CONCERNED THERE HAS BEEN NO FORMAL RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM CONSUMERS WITH SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME MAKE/MODEL. PLEASE ADD THIS VEHICLE TO THE RECALL.
NO ONE HAS NOTIFIED ME OF THE RECALL OF MY TOYOTA LEXUS 2004 MODEL 330 TO LET US KNOW IF WE NEED THE AIRBAGS REPLACED.
THE SEAT BELT FOR PASSENGER SIDE AND THE SEAT ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTIONED WHEN MY PASSENGER BUCKLED HIS SEAT BELT. THERE WAS A POPPING SOUND AND THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. THE SYSTEM WAS RE CALIBRATED AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT I CONTINUE TO HAVE SPORADIC PROBLEMS WITH THIS ISSUE. I CANNOT HAVE A PASSENGER DUE TO THIS ISSUE.
INTERMEDIATE WIPERS HAVE NEVER WORKED.
I WAS DRIVING AT 9:30AM CST ON 7/27/16 WHEN MY CAR EXPERIENCE UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION FOR ABOUT 1.5 MILES. MY CAR REFUSED TO SLOW DOWN, EVEN WHILE I HAD THE BRAKES APPLIED. I HAVE HAD MY CAR SENT TO LEXUS HEADQUARTERS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
THIS CAR -- PURCHASED IN 2003 -- HAS NEVER LEFT FLORIDA. IT RESIDES IN A HUMID, HOT AREA, PARKED OUTDOORS. ARE THE AIRBAGS IN THIS CAR SAFE? WILL THEY BE RECALLED? IF SO, WHEN? WHAT SHOULD I DO IN THE MEANTIME? THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 LEXUS ES330. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL, FUEL GAUGE, AND HORN FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL HOUSING SYSTEM OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 LEXUS ES330. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH AND EXITING THE RESIDENCE, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS AND SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND NECK THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,999.
WITHOUT ANY INCIDENTS, OUR DASHBOARD LIGHT FOR THE AIRBAGS CAME ON. THE DEALER SAYS THE ENTIRE PART IS IN AN ELECTRICAL HOUSING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND IT TO BE REPLACED AS A WHOLE PART AT A COST OF $4000. A SEPARATE MECHANIC WE HAVE USED LONG TERM SAYS IT IS THE ENTIRE DRIVERS SEAT THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED NOT THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THIS ONE IS AT A COST OF $6000. THEY BOTH STATE IT'S NOT PART OF THE RECENT AIRBAG RECALLS. THEY KNOW THE AIRBAGS HAVE NOT INFLATED, YET CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL INFLATE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN OUR POSSESSION AS ORIGINAL OWNERS AND NO ONE ELSE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR FENDER BENDER OR ANYTHING. THE LIGHT CAME ON ONE MORNING AFTER IT HAD BEEN PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY ALL NIGHT. WE DON'T PARK ON THE STREET.
WHEN STARTING THE LEXUS ES 330 2004 FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE DAY IT MAKES A HORRIBLE SOUND THAT LASTS ABOUT 5 SECONDS WHILE STILL PARKED THEN WHEN DRIVING IT SEEMS LIKE I AM FORCING IT DO ACCELERATE. AFTER BEING WARMED UP IT IS FINE AND AFTER SUBSEQUENT STARTS IT DOES NOT MAKE THAT NOISE.
SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2008 I HAD THE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR JERKING BETWEEN 40-60MPH AND HAD THE DEALER TO INVESTIGATE MY CONCERNS WHICH I TOOK THE CAR TO A LEXUS DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEMS WHICH THEY NEVER FOUND; I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURS IN ALL 2004 330ES AND THE PROBLEM WASN'T DETECTED. SO I DROVE THIS CAR FOR ALL THE YEARS I HAVE IT WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS; UNTIL 12/19/2015 THE PROBLEM CONTINUED WHEN I WAS ENROUTE TO ANOTHER TOWN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN JERKING AND SLOWED DOWN AND I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE THE ENGINE; WHEN DOING SO THE CAR MADE AN ARKWARD SOUND; SO I BEGAN TO TURN AROUND AND HEAD BACK HOME FROM WHERE I WAS IT WAS 8 MILES BACK; AND THE CAR WAS JERKING AND SHAKING TO WHERE IT WAS ABOUT TO SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AND STILL PULLING; I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEFT IT OVER THE WEEKEND; AND THEY FINALLY FOUND THE PROBLEM CODE P0303 CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE AND PO353 IGNITION COIL, WHICH WAS THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND IT BECAUSE AT THE TIME THERE WAS NO LIGHT INDICATOR ON; BUT NOW THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED FOR WHICH THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WAS RELIABLE FOR THE PAYMENT. $500 LATER THE PROBLEM DISCOVERED. ALSO RECALL ON THE ISSUE BUT NOT THE VEHICLE I OWN; SINCE I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS I FEEL THAT THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED MY VEHICLE AND A REFUND DUE.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG COVER IS SEPARATING FROM THE DASH. I APPEARS TO BE RISING UP FROM ITS FLAT POSITION ON THE DASH AND I'M AFRAID IT MIGHT DEPLOY AND INJURE A PASSENGER. IS THIS A TAKATA AIRBAG?
THE DRIVER WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT THE LOCAL TRAIN STATION. SHE WAS GOING FORWARD AT ABOUT 1 MPH WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN AS SHE WAS APPROACHING THE CURB AT THE FRONT END OF THE PARKING SPACE. WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CAR SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD AND WENT OVER THE CURB AND INTO A METAL AND WOODEN FENCE. THE CAR PROBABLY WOULD HAVE LANDED ON THE TRAIN TRACKS; BUT, FORTUNATELY, IT WENT INTO THE FENCE WHICH IS USED TO SUPPORT A SHELTER THAT SHIELDS COMMUTERS FROM INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE DAMAGED FENCE IS OWNED BY THE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD. THE DRIVER SUFFERED A BACK INJURY AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION, MEDICATION, AND PHYSICAL THERAPY. THE INCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO LEXUS IN TORRANCE, CA. LEXUS HAS A CONTRACTUAL ARRANGEMENT WITH A VENDOR TO INSPECT THE EVENT DATA RECORDER (EDR) INSTALLED IN THE CAR. AFTER THE EDR WAS INSPECTED, THE DRIVER WAS INFORMED THAT THE EDR IN THE 2004 LEXUS ES 330 IS VERY BASIC AND NOT AT ALL SOPHISTICATED ENOUGH TO DETECT WHAT ACTUALLY OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE AND AFTER THE ACCIDENT. LEXUS SAID THE EDR IN THE NEWER ES AUTOMOBILES WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AS TO EXACTLY WHAT OCCURRED BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE DRIVER WAS INFORMED THAT THE EDR INSPECTION REPORT FOR THIS INCIDENT ESSENTIALLY ADDRESSED WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE AIR BAGS, NONE OF WHICH HAD DEPLOYED DURING THE ACCIDENT. LEXUS INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE OR GUIDANCE TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF ANY PARTS OR DESIGN DEFECTS.

WAS DRIVING 2004ES 330 LEXUS ON INTERSTATE, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT, CLOUDY DAY @1:20PM. HAD BEEN ON INTERSTATE FOR MAYBE 15-18 MINS OF DRIVING BEFORE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. ALL OF A SUDDEN STEERING SEEM TO LOCK AND CAR JUST STARTED SPINNING UNCONTROLLABLE. HIT ONE BRICK OVERPASS THEN SPRUNG INTO THE OPPOSITE SIDE, HITTING ANOTHER BRICK WALL,CONTINUED TO SPIN UNTIL IT REST AGAINST THE BRICK WALL AGAIN. AFTER HELP CAME TO PULL ME OUT, CAR WAS SMOKING. WE COULD NOT GET IT INTO PARK TO PREVENT FROM CONTINUE TO ROLL BACKWARDS. WE JUST LEFT DOOR OPEN...REST AGAINST BRICK WALL TO PREVENT CAR FROM ROLLING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ON A FRIDAY MORNING IN OCTOBER OF 2014, I DROVE FROM DC TO BALTIMORE.THE TOTAL DRIVING TIME WAS CLOSER TO NINETY MINUTES THAN THE USUAL HOUR, THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS WILL BECOME CLEAR LATER IN THIS MESSAGE. TEN MILES OUTSIDE OF BALTIMORE, I DID NOT FEEL WELL. EVENTUALLY PULLING INTO MY DAUGHTER'S DRIVEWAY, AND FEELING VERY FAINT, I MANAGED TO CALL MY HER VIA CELLPHONE, RIGHT OUTSIDE HER KITCHEN WINDOW. I WAS SO SICK THAT I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR. I FELT UTTERLY LIMP, DIZZY AND NAUSEOUS AS MY SON-IN-LAW PULLED ME OUT TO STAGGER IN THE FRONT DOOR AND COLLAPSE ON THE LIVING ROOM COUCH. THE ROOM WAS SPINNING; IF I OPENED MY EYES, THE ROOM TILTED AND SPUN FASTER. MY KIDS CALLED AN AMBULANCE. MY VITAL SIGNS - OXYGEN AND BLOOD PRESSURE READINGS WERE WITHIN THE LOW RANGE OF NORMAL, WITH OXYGEN AND BLOOD PRESSURE READING VERY LOW. I HAVE NO RELEVANT HEALTH CONDITIONS. THE AMULANCE ATTENDENTS THOUGHT IT WAS "THE FLU". EIGHT OR NINE HOURS LATER, I MANAGED TO GET UP. IN A FEW DAYS I WAS BACK TO NORMAL AND FELT FINE. LAST TUESDAY, JANUARY 19, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT TOOK ABOUT FIVE HOURS TO RECOVER. THE DRIVE HAD BEEN JUST UNDER AN HOUR. I WAS SURE, AT THIS POINT: IT HAS TO BE THE CAR. IT WAS. NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE MECHANIC, THOUGH HE WAS ENTIRELY DUBIOUS ABOUT MY CONVICTION: CARBON MONOXIDE. A FEW HOURS LATER, HE CALLED TO VERIFY THAT THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM, ENGINE-TO-TAILPIPE, WAS CORRODED AND THAT, INDEED, CARBON MONOXIDE HAD BEEN LEAKING INTO THE CAR. IT IS AN OLD CAR BY US STANDARDS - A 2004. IT WAS A $2,000 REPAIR JOB - A JOLT, BUT I FELT LUCKY. WOULD A SMALLER PERSON - A TEEN OR PETITE WOMAN, HAVE SURVIVED? WOULD THE CAUSE OF DEATH EVEN BE DISCERNIBLE? HOW MANY DEATHS HAVE WE HEARD OF: "ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL"? PUSH FOR LEGISLATION TO REQUIRE CARBON MONOXIDE SENSORS IN CARS! *TR

I WAS RIDING THE BRAKE INTO A PARKING SPACE AND WAS ALMOST FINISHED PARKING (MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE) WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND TRAVELED THROUGH A SHORT WOODED AREA THEN OVER A 12 FOOT DROP TO A ROAD WITH TRAFFIC BELOW. WHILE THE CAR WAS GARAGED OVERNIGHT, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN THE DASHBOARD CRACKED AND IS NOW PARTIALLY EXPOSED. I CALLED LEXUS AND THEY ASKED ME TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO MY LOCAL LEXUS DEALERSHIP. I DID. WHILE THEY REVIEWED THE ISSUE, THEY ALSO COMPLETED SERVICE ON A RECALL OF THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THEY WOULD SUBMIT A CLAIM TO LEXUS. THE CLAIM WAS DENIED. THEY SAID, THE WARRANTY IS SIX YEARS/70,000 MILES. WHILE THE CAR IS UNDER 70,000 MILES THE CAR IS TEN YEARS OLD. THE CHARGE TO FIX THE CRACKED AIRBAG IS $3500.00 MY ARGUMENT TO THEM WAS: 1. THE AIRBAG IS NOT A "WEAR AND TEAR" ITEM. THE AIRBAG IS A SAFETY ITEM THAT SHOULD LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE CAR. 2. LEXUS FIXED THE OTHER SAFETY ITEM A SEAT BELT, SO THEY SHOULD FIX THE AIRBAG. 3. LEXUS COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY. I INFORMED THEM THAT I HAD TWO TEENAGERS WHO ARE DRIVING AND ASKED: A. WILL THE AIRBAG DEPLOY PROPERLY IF THE CAR IS IN AN ACCIDENT? B. WILL THE AIRBAG DEPLOY UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING? LEXUS COULD NOT ANSWER THE QUESTIONS TO MY SATISFACTION. I DO BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE ES 330 THAT COULD POTENTIALLY HARM THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. *TR
THERE IS A CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OF MY CAR. IT IS PROTRUDING AROUND THE AREA OF THE AIRBAG. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LEXUS DEALERSHIP ON JULY 14, 2014, FOR THIS PROBLEM. ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE MY DASH BOARD AND IT WOULD COST ME OVER 2,500 DOLLAR. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE EVER. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL BY PRESSING FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE AREA AROUND THE AIRBAG IS PULLING AWAY AND THE AIRBAG ITSELF LOOKS SO STRETCHED I FEAR THE AIRBAG IS GOING TO DEPLOY.
